I think that Kunimi is more shocked because he doesn’t want baby Ebisu to do “that” than by the only solution that they have. Because it’s Kunimi himself who have said that killing the infected people was probably the only way to stop them since nothing could save them.
So hearing Ebisu says “i'm going to do that” shocks him, of course. He wants his god to stay innocent, and with clean hands, for still a while but realize that it's already too late.
(But we see later that Ebisu is more the one who supervises everything rather that one of the gods who fight)
Mayu is shocked because Tenju has never been that serious before. And he’s not a figther so it’s super new for her. She fought with Yato, sure, but it’s not the same things here.
And Kiun...Kiun must have realized, like Kunimi, that there are no other solutions even if he doesn’t like it, doesn’t like the idea that his master does that.

Jackie in Japan - Shrine Visit
I never did visit the shrine when I went to the festival, and I really feel like I should have. On top of that, my academic performance hasn't been too great compared to my classmates, so with something to wish for, why not go?
I don't usually bring anime references up in these posts, but I will make an exception today. In Noragami, you will meet a God named Tenjin, the one Tomone leaves Yato for. He is the shinto God of academics and has a few shrines around the country. One of them is in Dazaifu in Fukuoka prefecture. It's called Dazaifu Tenman-guu. If you are not too confused on where you want to go, you can get there in a little over an hour from where I live. (I spent around 30 minutes or so at Tenjin station, wondering which train to take to get to Dazaifu.)
Anyway, I made it to Dazaifu station and from there I just had to follow the crowd to the shrine, but the path was rather simple. From the station, turn right, then walk around 50 m, then turn left and walk 100 m or so, and then turn right and you will see the first torii straight ahead.
The torii is a gate that indicates that you are entering the land of the gods. According to the video I saw, you are supposed to bow before entering and you are not supposed to go through the middle of the gate, as that is the path of the gods. I didn't do either.
After entering the first torii there was a path with shops on either side where you could buy all kinds of foods and souvenirs. It reminded me a little of the area around Kiyomizudera (Kiyomizu temple) in Kyoto, except it wasn't nearly as crowded or as big.
When the street of shops ends, there is a spot where the path turns. There's a statue of a lying bull who people were lining up to touch. If I have understood it correctly, apparently it should bring good luck to touch it, so of course I had to do that. Also because I'm pretty sure that's only at this shrine, or at least I haven't seen it at any other shrine.
Then I followed the line of umbrellas with Japanese people hiding underneath (it was raining and I have no hands for an umbrella, so I didn't carry one). We crossed three bridges that connected two islands in a pond. The line led past the temizusha where you are supposed to rinse your hands and mouth to be "clean" when entering the shrine. I didn't do it because I had already been waiting in line for 10 minutes and with no one to hold my place, I would have to go all the way back to the end and wait for another 10 minutes in the rain. I was not about to, and some of the other people who came alone didn't do it either. But I felt bad for not doing it.
I entered the shrine grounds and walked with the crown to the main building. I threw in my 5-yen coin for good luck (go-en can apparently also mean good luck if written with diferent kanji) and then prayed. The way you do it at shinto shrines is that you throw in the coin, bow twice, clap loudly twice and pray, then bow again and leave. You know what I forgot? In the midst of reminding myself that I'm supposed to clap loudly and make noise, I forgot to pray!
I went and drew myself a fortune telling. They need 100 yen for that. I don't know what it says yet, but it's readable and they bothered to put furigana on the kanji, so I will get to translate it later. Normally, you can tie it on a string or something to make it come true. I did that once in Kyoto, but as I said, I took my fortune home with me today. Then I hurriedly left before I made any more mistakes. I bought a fan on the way out, making the cost of my shrine visit go from 105 yen to 1205 yen, not including transportation.
My biggest accomplishments: 1. I successfully found my way from my home station to Tenjin, and all the way to the Nishitetsu line. 2. my Japanese was praised. Apparently some people think it's good enough that I could be perminently living in Japan. 3. I found my way back from Dazaifu and all the way home all on my own with no problem except I got on the wrong platform at the first station I needed to change trains at. So there is a little to be proud of at least.
Have you ever visited a shinto shrine? is there one you would like to visit? Did you make any mistakes or are there any mistakes you really don't want to make?

It was hiyori's decision.. to be with him but
Still i'm very sad because she's just 16 😭😭 her decision was a very reckless one because she was too involved in the far shore to actually care abt her life, her family/friends, her future.
It's why tenjin had always warned her of being mixed up with the far shore.
It's like being so obsessed something that isn't real to the point of giving up your life for it. I'm so sad for her family... oml
Assuming she manages to retain her memories because of her special situation, what will become of yato?
With no lifeline? Scratch that. If he manages to live, how will he get over the guilt? The torment he went through because of the hospital incident was already too much.. compared to that, hiyori's life and future are now over.
And yukine must be devastated. Hiyori is the only one he hadn't turned on when he became hagusa and was searching for his father. She was like the older sister he couldn't live with when he was human, and his mentor.
NORAGAMI IS HELL

I just realized Hiyori meet god at the ripe age of 14 (15?) and got incredibly disappointed, imagine Hiyori in her University days. That’s some wild journey
(But nah fr imagine learning your gods are straight up childish, blindly revengeful, prickly and boastful, irresponsible and moony; to then going to algebra class)
She doesn't stress over getting into med school because what is that compared to her everyday life. A god follows her to Math class and keeps whispering answers to the assignments, effectively preventing her from doing any work at all. She gets kidnapped and has to mediate a battle between gods the day before her entrance exams. She skips gym class to go watch two gods bicker like soccer moms. She organized a godly dance mob to celebrate a ghost's birthday. She's 16 and treating the pantheon like her own personal BFF group and the more down-to-earth characters can only watch on in horror

I just had a dream. It's the continuation of the Noragami Ending.
Right after Yatori's reunion, after much persuasion, Yato finally takes Hiyori to Kofuku's house. She finally meets Yukine. Yukine was crying. The trio made a big hug. Everyone was happy. Hiyori traced her belongings that were left in Kofuku's place, filled with nostalgia (like her middle school's books, Yato's shrine, her old uniform). She couldn't believe it's been 10 years. After she managed to get a day-off from her job, she's going down the memory lane; tracing the path she took on the fateful day where she lost her life.
The story ends there. On the bottom page of the last page, it says it's a spin-off part 1 out of 6. A spin-off. I couldn't believe my eyes; Noragami will be continuing for another 6 months?? In my dream, I assume each story will be about Hiyori visiting the respective Gods' temple (Kofuku-Tenjin, Bishamon, Ebisu-Take) while they share their perspective about what happen right after Father was gone.
Then, I woke up. Sad. Just when it starts getting juicy, too. It feels surreal that it's not real, but I have a good time remembering it. Now that I'm awake, it's not a bad fanfic idea at all. The last two spin-offs will be about Yato, Yukine, and Hiyori's plan for the next 10(?) years.
Really not a bad idea at all. ☺️

spoilers for the most recent chapter of Noragami, read at your own risk. Conversation Heart from the 1st season soundtrack came on while I was writing this and wrecked me so if you wanna go through an emotional spiral I recommend putting that on.
Memories
on AO3 if you prefer
He always hated this part.
It never got any easier; from Sakura all the way to Yukine. The memories of the innocent souls that he named flashing through his mind tore his heart into shreds every time. Nora was the only exception; whether that was from her origins or the fact that Father had named her first, he wasn’t sure.
But now he was faced with another exception: Hiyori.
The girl who recklessly ran out into the road to shove him out of the way from an oncoming bus as he chased after a lost cat. The girl who helped him get through to Yukine and saved both their lives during his ablution. The girl who made him his first shrine. The girl who called him back from yomi, from the clutches of Izanami herself.
The human girl who had the audacity to face off with his father, to protect him. The one who he desperately wanted to protect and the one who he was in love with.
But he’d failed and the proof was the memories of her life taking over his vision.
Her time as a baby and an elementary school student flashed by quickly, with toys and drawings and her bright smile. He saw her celebrating Christmas with her family and school events like sports days. And then, it was Hiyori as he first met her; a ninth-grade student soon to enter high school.
And soon her memories were filled with him and Yukine. Laughing, working together, smiling; she looked at them so fondly. He saw her carving pieces of his shrine endlessly into the night, a smile on her face then too. He saw himself, crying, but laughing and thanking her.
Then her memories reached recent events. How devastated he’d left her after he’d said goodbye. How she worked on immediately fixing the shrine, despite her obvious mixed feelings towards him. How she immediately went after him despite Yukine urging her not to.
Kazuma’s confrontation. And Hiyori’s realization.
Though he didn’t think it was possible, his heart tightened even more.
She attempted to continue with school, but she found herself wound up in his problems again despite warnings from Tenjin. She fought once again with Father about him and Yukine, leaving her cord torn. After her grandmother passed, she made an unlikely partner of Nora and continued once again to look for him.
And now, they were here.
His eyes were wet with tears and his throat and chest were so tight that they ached. But while he was being drowned in the waves of Hiyori’s memories, he and she had made progress against his father.
Eyes widening, he noticed the koto no ha along with some of his father’s fingers had been sliced clean through with Hakki. Without Izanami’s borrowed powers, Father was done for.
‘You’re saving me once again, Hiyori.’ He thought to himself as he gripped the flowering knife tighter.
