The "Strictness" of the Jedi
Ahsoka Tano: I was just reckless on the battlefield, violating orders to retreat and had to be forced to pull out.
Mace Windu: You'll be performing extra chores at the Temple for a little while.
Ahsoka Tano: I just lost my lightsaber and am too embarrassed to tell my Master about it.
Jocasta Nu: Well that's alright dear. Here, why don't I introduce you to Master Sinube our expert on the underworld, he'll help you find it. We won't even tell your Master.
Ahsoka Tano: *Spends the investigation threatening people, beating them up, and being consumed with impatience and fear.*
Master Sinube: That's alright, we'll use this as a learning opportunity. I'm going to teach you patience! Then bring you to a youngling class to pass the lesson on.
Ahsoka Tano: I lied and snuck my way onto the Citadel mission purely because no one had done it before and I wanted to be apart of it.
Plo Koon: No problem, I'll cover for you.
Ahsoka Tano: I just spoke out of turn to the Jedi Council.
The Council: Whatever. And we blame you for this, Anakin.
Ahsoka Tano: I muddled an investigation into a bombing, beat up Clones who tried to arrest me, worked with a known Sith Assassin, and broke out of prison.
Jedi Council: We award you with Knighthood at the age of sixteen.
Ahsoka Tano: I demand an army to invade a neutral planet because an ex-terrorist asked me to do it!
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Okay sure, let me talk to the Council.
Ahsoka Tano: What? The capital's under attack? I don't care! Just give me the army already!
Anakin Skywalker: Here you go.
Ahsoka Tano: I'm not apart of the Jedi Order anymore.
Jedi Council: We'll still share relevant intelligence with you while you deal with the crisis in Mandalore.

Y'know I think Ahsoka is actually a really good illustration of how the whole Jedi-as-a-collective-family thing works. Anakin is her master and he fills a kind of older brother role for her, and she has not one but TWO members of the Jedi council 100% ready to teach her how to drive and make dad jokes at her and remind her not to mess with the thermostat too much, plus another one that definitely has her favorite candy in one of his robe pockets at all times, and of course luminara who i am absolutely convinced was her cool aunt figure during the clone wars. not to mention aayla, tera sinube, jocasta nu... the list goes on, but they all treat each other like close extended family at the very least and it's there in the show. of course their relationships and roles don't map perfectly onto a nuclear family construction and i just use them as shorthand but in conclusion:
❤❤❤!!!

All arguments about Jedi not being a family/being an repressive system are invalid. That’s a 14 year old Jedi kid in a tube top calling the venerable elder who’s helping her ‘gramps.’
Anakin being her Master isn’t what made her Like That™ because Master Sinube explicitly doesn’t know who she is and yet isn’t surprised by this behavior - doesn’t even react to it - so this is likely to be expected of Padawans.
(Also he’s not deaf so he definitely heard her call him gramps but he just doesn’t care.) (Also the clothes are from before she became a Padawan so she clearly can’t be that much of an exception.) (Also old turtle gramps is delighted to tag along and have some fun for once! He’s ready to do mischief! It’s gonna be a teaching/bonding experience with this random kiddo and he wants to go kick some criminal’s butt! Also he and Jocasta don’t tattle on Ahsoka for having lost her lightsaber, they let her deal with it without involving Anakin because they respect her wishes!) (Anyway old Jedi have all the rights.)

I keep thinking about how Fortress Inquisitorius isn’t shielded and the show made a point of bringing it up and I keep thinking about that line of entombed Jedi and Force-sensitives, I keep thinking about Jedi Master Tera Sinube and his body being held there. I’m sure it’s a great tool for intimidating anyone they walk down that long hallway, showing them that there’s no mercy here, this is what will happen to you if you don’t bend to our demands and join the Empire, even the children will be tortured and broken if they resist. But what if it’s more than that? I keep looking at that terrible, awful hallway, thinking about Obi-Wan having to stare at the face of an old friend, one who had been around for hundreds of years in the Jedi Order, he probably had at least one class taught by Master Sinube. How terrifying and grisly the whole thing is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And how it reminded me of something else. Of one of the most horrific things the Empire ever did:
Tumblr media
They used Luminara Unduli’s body as bait for any Jedi who might sense her and try to rescue her.  The Grand Inquisitor himself lures Kanan and Ezra in, when they’re looking for her to be Ezra’s teacher, and it’s not until they’re face to face with her corpse that they understand that her Force presence is being used to trick them, to make them think there’s another Jedi in the galaxy that they can help and be helped by. Obi-Wan doesn’t sense them until he’s face to face with them because his Force abilities are weakened from a decade of disuse, but how many other Jedi are out there, sensing something of Master Sinube or a Jedi youngling that they want to help? How many other Jedi would mount a rescue mission on Fortress Inquisitorius because they thought a Jedi was in need of them and they could use the help of another Jedi in the galaxy?  It’s so tempting, there’s not even any shields, the Inquisitors think they don’t need them, we can do this, we can help a Jedi! But it’s all lies, it’s the Empire using the dead bodies of Jedi to trick more of them into coming right to them, that torture chamber right down at the end of that very hall.  And by the time you’re close enough to realize what’s truly off about their presence, it’s too late.  There’s an entire Fortress surrounding you.

Some idiot commenting on a Twitter post for SW Visions S2: "learn your own lore! Jedi don't conceal their lightsabers! That's a sith thing!"
Replies:
"Guess Luke isn't a Jedi" (hiding his lightsaber in R2 in ROTJ)
"Just admit you're making up shit to bitch about new SW"
"Kanan concealed his lightsaber"
"Tera Sinube's lightsaber is hidden in his cane"
"The Jedi have to conceal their lightsabers to survive after order 66"
"Visions is a non canon reimagining, it doesn't have to follow the lore (but also it isn't ignoring lore, plenty of Jedi conceal their lightsabers, especially after order 66)"
(Personal favorite) "Because all Jedi are all exactly the same at every point in the timeline, even in alternate universes"
"Breaking news, Master Sinube is a sith lord"

Conversation
Cin: Maybe it’s not too late to get out of the Jedi Order.
Tera, nodding: We could start a new life in the Outer Rim, maybe open a small bookstore.
Jocasta: How dare you tempt me with a small bookstore.

Jedi High Council members as of 40 BBY:
FULLY CONFIRMABLE (7) Yoda (it's Yoda) Oppo Rancisis (has been there since 232 BBY, still present 32 BBY) Yarael Poof (see above) Eeth Koth (on the Council before Windu according to one source, appointed by 40 BBY according to Wookiepedia) Plo Koon (took over for after Master Tyvokka 44 BBY) Mace Windu (replaced Master Katri at 28, born 72 BBY, joined 44 BBY) Poli Dapatian (can confirm canonically on council at the latest of 41 BBY) PRESUMED (4) Yaddle (presumed due to age and lack of full rosters for prior years) Micah Giiett (died 33 BBY, was a Councilor up to that point, presumed on it for the 7+ years beforehand) Sifo-Dyas (no known join date that I could find, kicked off 33 BBY, presumed on it for the 7+ years beforehand) Saesee Tiin (stark hyperspace war veteran. nothing concrete other than that according to my notes :/) CAN SWITCH BETWEEN ANY (1+) Jor Aerith (died during Order 66 but was not on the Council during the Clone Wars as far as we know. Presumably she retired) Gretz Droom (Jor's padawan. Also not known to be on the Council during the Clone Wars but was a Council member at one point. Presumably retired) Tera Sinube (retired during the 40s. We don't know when exactly, but unlikely it was 40 BBY exactly. I just included him because I forgot about him entirely while trying to work out earlier rosters :/) Even Piell (ehhhhhh this one's iffy. He's definitely on it during TPM but nothing points to him being there before that but TPM takes place 32 BBY and Sifo-Dyas and Micah Giiett made the PRESUMED category so he's here too :/) Adi Gallia (see above) and there you go. all 12(+) Council members during the year 40 BBY

Day 6: Community/Jedi Temple
I think a good way to show community was to show how a padawan, depsite having one master, learns from all Jedi. I decided to do it via Ahsoka, since we see her learning from different teachers. Anakin is in the center of the picture as he’s her master but then we have Luminara and Tera Sinube, as I really enjoy their interactions with Ahsoka!
Also, I made Luminara’s eyes brown because I think we have enough blue eyed characters in Star Wars.

Idea Idea Idea
So like, y'all know those AU's where it's like "X Jedi goes to the past", sometimes surviving their deaths and all that is left is like a scar or something?
Similar to that, but what if it wasn't the scars but the actual wounds? What if it was the whole council (minus Anakin obviously) that came back with their injuries of death? Or in Yoda's case, near death sleep?
Like, the members of the council went on with their day, those on the battlefield becoming separated from their troopers and those on Coruscant suddenly become busy and aren't in the Temple or head in early for the night (Yoda) or something and each are found later on, like Plo's ship got separated from the Wolfpack and later find it destroyed (clearly shot down) with Plo still inside, they found Ki Adi on the floor with a bunch of blaster wounds, Obi-Wan get's separated mid mission with the 212th and 501st and they find him with marks that show that someone tried to cut him in half, Mace is found with his hand cut off in the middle of the night in front of the senate after clearly having fallen a lot of floors and it's a miracle that he is alive (him being found because the video of an area of the Senate cut off and it took a while to arrive), someone goes to get Yoda and he is barely there in the Force, maybe having fallen into a coma, etc
And like, with the council taken out, who is going to be the temporary council?
So what if there were like, reports and stuff about possible future council Masters and stuff, and Jocasta and Cin and maybe Sinube are in the council along with Cere, Luminara, Aayla and Jaro Tapal
And Anakin also being there because everyone looks up at him too and he is also marked as a possible future council member (with the note of him still needing a few more years until then) so he is also put there
So they have to deal with finding these attackers that don't exist (not yet in the attack sense at least), led the Order, deal with the Senate, lead the GAR (as much as the Jedi do anyway) and find who managed to get into Coruscant to attack the members that were attacked
And later on, maybe the firsts to wake up aren't members who maybe know what is going but those who died on o66
And most of all, Anakin having to deal with the paperwork of being a Council Member

you know what i bet tera sinube would be so proud of ahsoka. that little padawan learnt how to be patient. she’s gone on to fight the empire and protect jedi younglings. she may have had her issues with the jedi order, but there she is, after all these years, fighting so hard to keep their legacy alive. i bet tera sinube is watching on as a force ghost just so, so proud of ahsoka. i bet he’s delighted to see they share the same lightsaber colour now.
