Saturday asks: what is your favorite poem/poet and yeah
i don’t have a favourite poem because i think they’re like the prescription slips you get from the doctor and keep pressed between the pages of a book, taking it out to permit yourself sleep, or relief, or breath. waiting until it expires to go and beg for another, another, another. hoping one will eventually fix you and make the doctor something you can sneer at instead.
you, perfectly healthy.
my favourite poet is probably anne sexton. i know that’s a little un-gauche of me, but her collections are what i reread when i want to remember why poetry at all? why bleed so loudly? i read her first after a very bad time in my life, which didn’t kill me. & she’s a survivor too.
she writes very beautifully about everything. here’s one of my favourites

Managed to clean up the doodles from yesterday and I've come to the realization that drawing eye wrinkles is very fun, or just smiling in general lol
Once done, I can move on to designing their kids (●´ϖ`●)

Nowy Dziennik really went "we hate you and your dad for not supporting your uncle Solomon's Hebrew school initiative and your cousin Maks's Zionist Sejm campaign so we're going to say more racial slurs about you than the Endek press" and I think that is both insane and worthy of historical analysis especially in light of contemporary Zionist rhetorical tactics lol

I haven’t had the chance to see the full episode yet but I am DYING at this whole Steve Rogers virginity thing in she-hulk. Like, the whole concept of it is absolutely hilarious. I’m obsessed with the way this contributes to The Legend of Steve Rogers ™ in the MCU

heres the thing about independence day (not the movie). it really is okay to love your own country. the fact that your country is screwed up and that many people love it badly doesnt mean that you cant love it.
When your friend is making self-deprecating jokes, you stop them, mostly because its bad for them to do that, but also because you cant insult yourself without insulting other people. thats why we dont call bad guys ugly.
in the same way, americans not being able to love their country because its screwy is the same as telling ukranians or the chinese that they arent allowed to love their country because of crazy people and the government. to say otherwise is american exceptionalism.
i do love america. i love freedom from tyranny, courage and honor and honesty. i love kindness and strawberries and family dinners. i love diversity, how fervently americans believe that anyone can be american without giving up their own culture. i love our history of fighting for each other and fighting to make this country a place of diversity, freedom, and honor, even though we so rarely succeeded. i know that none of these things are exclusively american, and that makes them all the better. and because i love america im determined to help her be brave and free and honor-loving and honest. because she isnt, but i want her to be.

i hate how scary the idea of travel is in the us right now. like seriously, seeing flags is such a relief. lots of people i talk to want to do crazy road trips and visit national parks, and i do too. but i need to either pass 100% (which i don’t even want) or for the entire political climate to change to feel safe doing that. the idea of doing a vanlife rv road trip was intimidating with mild levels of danger as a small woman, doing that as an obviously trans little guy who is gonna make whatever partner they travel with look gay? nightmare difficulty

How are you dear?
hi anon, i'm very well! i'm currently roaming around boston like a stray cat, exploring the US one shock to my system at a time. one of my closest and oldest friends is here, and i'm wearing her scarves and following her around into libraries and offices and churches. it's an incredible relief to be away from work and home for a bit :')

bro that last post is hilarious. Apparently anglophone people are taught a mnemonic device for remembering 'north south east and west' which is already kinda funny on its own right since it's the equivalent of idk learning a mnemonic device for the hours of the day, but its harmless ig
but the funny thing is op said 'tell me where you grew up' and american fuckers will literally almost give you a postcode but not specify country, meanwhile other people are like 'australia'
