i legitimately do not understand one single ounce of the scp wiki drama u got goin’ on but i am Fascinated by it none the less. i know absolutely nothing about SCPs. i had know idea the internal workings of the wiki for these things could have so much... all of that going on. can you give us the cliff notes of All That if its not a bother? (only if ur comfortable sharing of course!)

well, today’s episode of scp drama goes way back to the beginning of the site in 2008. there are some authors that started then and still are connected to it or watching it from afar. one of the most well-known of these authors, who wasnt one of the founders but joined soon after, is harmony, who was known for a long time as ‘roget’.

(putting this under a cut bc i did not mean for it to get as long as it did lmao)

harmony is the single most prolific author on the scp wiki. at one point back in say...probably 2012-13 or so, a third of the wiki was just her work. hundreds upon hundreds of articles. i listened to an interview with her once back in high school where she said she was averaging, at one point, an article every two days. she has some great stuff, some of which defined various aspects of the wiki, and some other stuff that didn’t do as well, but if you look at raw good boy points (upvotes) she surpasses everyone else, not just because of her few fantastically popular works but because of the sheer amount of her content. she also is super involved in side-wikis relating to scp, including the wanderers’ library and a defunct project she and i brushed elbows in one summer (i dont really know her that well, though).

im less up to date with harmony Lore or whatnot, but out of all the current and former scp staff (she used to be on staff), she has probably the least amount of insane shit connected to her. notice i did not say none, because she and her girlfriend did attempt a takeover of another wiki at one point and bullied people at other points, sometimes severely to the point of making them leave the internet forever, you know, normal stuff totally normal people do. BUT. i have never heard anything about her like, being a pedophile or an abuser, so.....the bar is literally underground, but in terms of ranking high-up people in the scp wiki, shes pretty low profile.

regardless of who she is, though, it brings us here. harmony's been going through some shit. because harmony has been an integral author on the wiki for around a decade now, obviously staff have noticed. she’s aware of it too, and, from what i can discern and piece together, at some point recently gave her account away to be held by someone she trusts a lot, so for the moment her articles aren’t something she’s at liberty to delete. in the midst of this, she’s tentatively decided, that she wants to leave permanently (queen) and, more importantly, the articles she’s written for the wiki aren’t something she wants on there anymore; the reasoning ive seen is because of more personal reasons, but the single staff member im in a server with insists its because she wants to hurt staff and spite the wiki on her way out, which like. idk if they had a fight or smth, honestly, so i cant comment on that.

but like. this is a big deal. this is 300+ articles she wants removed and, again from what ive heard, moved to a neutral site of her own instead. staff really, REALLY do not like this. entire portions of long-standing site stuff would need to be rewritten, deleted, archived, or recontextualized to accommodate the huge gap in the site lore, etc, and that’s without any attention to her more famous works. and this is old stuff, like, formative stuff in some cases. like i said, shes been around for about a decade. there just... a whole lot of load-bearing stuff in there.

the view of staff-- or, at least, the view of djkaktus going off on twitter and the single staff member i have passing contact with-- is that when she posted those articles, they became part of creative commons, and therefore the site has the right to deny her request and keep her articles there. because harmony is aware she’s not in a good mental state, from what ive heard she’s waiting until march 1st to decide if she wants to do it or not. meanwhile, djkaktus is proposing a public vote of whether or not to let her remove her own works.

now like. listen. i think that fundamentally this kind of sets a big precedent. the question here is, what is more important: the will of the author, or the will of the community as communicated by staff?

in conclusion, i think they have an incredible opportunity to fundamentally reshape the site handed to them on a silver platter. if it was me, i would just like, make a table of all the articles deleted and what concepts their deletion undercuts-- a huge undertaking in and of itself-- then open up ten or fifteen slots a week for authors to reshape those concepts to replace each load-bearing article until the gaps have been filled. to me its completely possible for them to respect her wishes and also...dare i say it....turn it into something fun and constructive and impactful, after all these years of honestly impressive new shit being piled on top of bizarre half-stagnation that just gets rewritten a thousand times every few years.

i think this could be really cool and an honestly good force, and on a broader scale might bring scp back to its roots: not a place where people go to get dunked upon by staff and people with 5 karma bars, but as an online community of people writing whatever the fuck they want for fun, with other people building off whatever the fuck other people felt like writing, with the added urgency of having to fill certain very influential slots in a harmony-shaped hole as soon as possible. this could prove that the heart of scp is not in the content of big-name authors and staff members, but- dare i say it- in literally just a bunch of random internet people hanging out and writing things, and i think that might even change how lots of people approach it altogether.

now, the problem with this is that the heart of scp is not in the community of a bunch of internet people hanging out, and hasnt been for a long time (you could argue it never was), although this is the thing authors and staff insist it is. the heart is in the clout, the superiority, the ability to step on others and get territorial over entire concepts and ideas, and the false structure it gives to vulnerable people. i don’t think theyre going to let harmony remove her stuff, and i think its going to stay the same as it always has been, and honestly? i think its a shame.

so i do think lawyers are going to get involved, as all high-profile scp things do, which would make it even stupider than it appears on the surface. thats it though, we’ll just have to see what happens.

wey hey, it’s a me...a madio here at long last!!! but rlly i’m mads, i’m twenty, and i’m in pst so im almost always fashionably late to things set with est time in mind. my last meal would be chicken alfredo but that feels really wrong bc i’d really love to own a chicken someday....anYWAYS moving on to the serious stuff! this intro is probably a shit show but so am i so it fits...i tried to keep it concise but who rlly knows idk pls plot with me

so first thing’s first, as promised, constance has two moms!!! one of them is an actress and the other is an activist (specifically feminist and lgbtq+ rights if that matters) and they’re both extremely well-known within hollywood.

her activist mom is definitely outspoken on social issues and she taught constance to be too, so the family is definitely known for pushing buttons in hollywood if only because they voice their very strong opinions VERY loudly. she probably had a lot to do with herself and her wife being ostracized in hollywood, or otherwise branded as brats. her actress mom, however, is much more soft spoken and was once probably an america’s sweetheart type. she’s a classic beauty, an actress that had so much potential until her reputation began to dwindle. she still acts, though in much smaller projects, and appears to be happy simply maintaining a home life (spoiler alert, she’s cheating). she taught constance humility and self-love

her mothers are so loving to her and to each other that she’s definitely a big romantic, however she’s also extremely naive so i’m sure that will pose a lot of issues in terms of plots and whatnot. she literally grew up witnessing true love at all times and is so in awe of her mothers’ relationship that she strives to have something just like it

sPEAKING OF NAIVETE! constance’s mothers actually shielded her from the spotlight until she was about 15!! her parents were really nervous about putting her in the limelight because they didnt want her to have a fate similar to theirs (the blacklisting and public humiliation of being branded) so they kept her life as private and “normal” as possible. rather than having a private tutor, she simply attended private schools so that she could have a semi-normal social life. her parents were very cautious about who she spent time with, which led her to be a bit sheltered. she had lots of friends, but she was never allowed to go to their houses and they needed extensive screening before being allowed at hers, so it was easier to just keep her friendships at school. it wasn’t until she got to high school and made the choice to insert herself into the media that the world truly met constance, and she’s been basking in the hollywood glow ever since

being lonely is actually part of what ignited her passion for film. she had so much free time at home during her early years that she stumbled upon a tub of old movies, as well as the video recorder that was used to capture them. from then on, she was in love and it seemed that no one could pry that camera from her grasp. years 5-10 of her life feature many clips of her moms’ double chins and feet, the angles of a girl too small to see the rest of the world.

i like to think that the first real paparazzi pictures ever captured of her and published across the nation featured her at a rally with her moms, holding a sign and very proudly leading a chant for the right for her mothers to legally marry. she’d been photographed before, of course, but none of them never made as bold of a statement and those pictures are what truly began her entrance into the spotlight, which was extremely intense and trying.

since the world was so desperate to know the daughter of two notorious starlets, it only made sense that they would do nearly anything to obtain that first private interview with her, those first talk show appearances, anything that she had never been able to do before. it was super overwhelming and she very quickly became aware of what vultures the press are

uhhh so yeah basically constance has only really been in the “spotlight” for the last 7 years, but she became very notorious and admired very quickly since her existence had been so “””normal”””” and basically mysterious to the public until then. like her moms posted pictures on their socials, but all of her own were private until then and the media only got to know her on a surface level so it was a drastic change both for herself, but also for the world

i’d like to think her friends, THE BRATS, are what really got her through it like once she started working in hollywood and getting more film projects and running into these ppl and building connections i think constance really would have relied on them as mentors (even if theyre rlly just manipulation her...plot idea ?) and just....ppl who understood what this type of fame was like and understood how crazy this transition was. like she went from eating cereal in the living room w her moms and living her lowkey life to being on magazines and becoming the new “GIRL NEXT DOOR” of hollywood and that’s....a lot

she is a pretty notorious director now like a lot of jobs were kind of just,, handed to her once she started but she proved she had real talent so her entire reputation is something she really built herself bc her moms tried to detach themselves from her career to give her a fair chance to prove herself and her own prestige but like,,, she literally loves filming people and directing them and it’s her whole ass life like she almost always has a film camera and/or an old video camera on her person at all times so watch out for that in the morning ladies and gents she will make u a star

BASICS

min is tomo’s best friend. tomo, having a lifetime of awful hollywood experience on min, was one of the first friends he made after moving to LA and they were both around the same age. they’re a chaotic combo and i love them... (i know the fc choice seems a bit too easy but i actually made both of these characters totally separately & making tomo made me want to give min another shot so i decided to lump them together)

full name is kim minwoo (김민우 / 金玟雨 / kim min-u) but he goes by MIN, both as a stage name and a nickname. call him either min or minwoo, he doesn’t really care either way. (he’s fed up with people pronouncing the W...it’s silent...)

birthday: 12th June 1995. he’s 24 years old.

nobody can tell whether or not he’s a jerk because he’s essentially a nice person. is it false bravado or does he just lack tact? is he just a part-time bastard? like.....he’s not mean, he’s a good person, he cares about other people!! ...but he’s also kind of a brat & he’s VERY stroppy. he gets upset if stuff doesn’t work out the way he wants it to.

he’s a member of the pop duo, SO:DA; an okay singer, more of a rapper, but a solid dancer. also very much known for his look, something about which he’s more bitter than he lets on. (he pretends to eat it up but he actually finds it pretty frustrating, a direct contrast to tomo who loves being the designated Pretty Boy so long as it’s not in clean, shiny way; if ur gonna call min pretty a bunch of times, compliment him somewhere else too at least once if u don’t want to end up on his list of enemies)

SO:DA debuted in south korea back in 2014 but the company made the decision to move it abroad a year later in an attempt to globalise their output. it’s hard to consider them as a k-pop group as they’ve been based in LA for 4 years now and they release music entirely in english. (pls don’t mention super m to me, i made this character in MARCH asdfghgfdfh)

the group’s name was originally short for SOL & DAL, taken from the french word for sun (soleil) and the korean word for moon, but they dropped it after the move abroad. min was the member who represented the moon while his partner in the group was the sun. they’ve sort of kept the concept in terms of visuals and all the rest but they mostly don’t speak about it.

min actually grew up in the UK. born in seoul, moved to a london when he was four and then moved back to seoul when he was thirteen and then to LA when he was eighteen.

EXTRA TRIVIA

min’s not as into partying as tomo so like...he’ll go along with it and go to clubs with tomo but usually doesn’t drink as much & often ends up in charge of dealing with the aftermath of tomo being an idiot. min doesn’t really mind bc he’s used to people trying to chase after him & being treated like an irresponsible child so he likes being the responsible one for once. (actually, he’s just a much tamer character than tomo in general. i think the same heavier topics will come up by virtue of him being a big part of tomo’s plotline but, in isolation, min’s less intense. min doesn’t take any drugs, for one thing; it’s part lack of interest, part he’d never get away with it like tomo does)

min isn’t allowed to do wild shit in public or else his management will come down on him like a tonne of bricks but he likes the idea of the Bad Boy image so he kinda...mooches off of tomo for the street cred. like they’re genuinely best friends and he’s not using tomo or anything shitty like that but i can’t say that min doesn’t enjoy being seen as trouble by proxy.

got banned from club penguin when he was ten for saying fuck. (more than once bc saying it once only gets you banned for 24hrs.) it was his first experience with resenting authority for enforcing their rules on him 😔

he likes to keep this sort of...mysterious, tortured image but his upbringing was actually fairly ordinary. he gets on with his family and loves them a lot. nobody’s dead, there’s no awkward relationships.

he has two siamese cats, both aged about 3 years. they have their own instagram account that’s about 40% run by min and 60% run by his manager when they have nothing better to do (usually after min has spammed them with pictures he’s taken). in conclusion, they are baby.

this has actually resulted in them having to separate their channels of contact by purpose; one messaging service will be used for important stuff, one will be used for casual stuff, one will be used exclusively for social media (cat pics & selfies), so on and so forth.

his management won’t let him get tattoos and he’s mad about it. like to the point that he’s been known to wear fake tattoos occasionally. do NOT clown him for it. he won’t take it.

actually, min’s management is just very controlling and overbearing & he’s totally overworked but hahaha we’re just going to ignore that bc arguing with the people in charge means risking your dream career in music & potentially losing it all, esp bc you skipped out on uni and fucked up a lot of high school just to pursue this job hahaha let’s just internalise that shit and get on with it

owns the cherry coke aesthetic. actually thinks classic coke is better. shhh, don’t tell. his favourite sweet is basset’s cherry drops though hehehe (not that he gets to eat them very often, given i can’t imagine they’re easy to find outside of the uk)

actually drinks too much coca cola. that probably explains the stroppiness, as well as his awful sleeping patterns.

the backstory there is pretty simple; min’s fussy. he has particular tastes. most kinds of meat, esp red meat, do not fall into his OK Zone. instead of having to suffer through important, fancy meeting dinners with posh steaks and not being allowed to use his fussiness as an excuse, he started claiming he was a vegetarian. people seemed to be more accepting of that. the only trouble is that he’s now widely known as a vegetarian when he doesn’t actually give a shit. the only people who know he’s bullshitting are his friends. he just wants a mcdonald’s double cheeseburger.

min lives on a diet of utter shit. he’s contractually obliged to eat healthily when preparing for promotions so he doesn’t just fuckin collapse on stage from malnutrition. pls eat a vegetable.

AFFECTION at once highkey and lowkey. his anxiety nullifies any impulse to be all lovey dovey bc yeah. actually. that can get you killed. and losing you is high on his list of shit to avoid. so it’s all behind closed doors and there it’s desperate as you know he can be, all over each other, physical reassurance of both your connection and the fact your heart still beats.

starved of it, jin is always up for affection – yet can have too full a head to be able to deal with the extra impulses; physical touch, the emotion it evokes, what it does to his mind.

generally tight hugs, touchy-feely, wants to have his eyes on ur face to read u and check u over. prefers to have some kinda physical contact w/ u when ur together but his attention is away from you; the sensation of good things slipping through his fingers gets intense.

CUDDLING yes please. jin can actually sleep in the same bed as someone else with little to no problem; at worst he’ll jerk violently in his sleep/during a dream/if his body registers your touch as foreign, but it’s not a punch or shit just an involuntary jolt.

embraces are his fave. full on arms around each other and pressed together. long, feelsy hugs that are all about just. well. affection. feeling each other. finding some peace in the hug and letting it last.

EFFORT a lot. lots of internal shit, working on new anxieties. trying to ween himself off needing to feel you, to tone down the cling. it takes a few months for him to fully be ready to take this new flaring anxiety in his hands and deal with it like the (at least partially) solvable problem it is, and that’s when he starts toning it down, reassuring himself about the lack of touch, etc. he’s an anxiety veteran. new causes can be so overwhelming that he doesn’t remember for a while that it’s his brain funking around.

he cares about you / what you’re feeling / needs & wants. might not be able to help, but will fucking care. if there’s one thing you won’t feel, it’s unappreciated.

twice is a lil more aware of healthy functioning relationship dynamics than some of the other league members, and unlike say dabi he’s really intent on keeping you around. if he’s got something good he’s going to do what he can to keep it.

For the @solarpunkstoryexchange Prompt: solarpunk in SPACE (in space colonies, in deep space)

Author notes: I got really excited about the prompt, but fell a bit short due to not being able to work out a plot or time to write. Because of these reasons, this has been mostly left on the brainstorming stage - It starts with a bit of a story and changes into brainstorming bullet points, which span about 3 generations (or more) of people living in the place. I hope you enjoy reading it!

A couple wants a kid. Or, to be more precise, a lesbian couple on the Mars colony decides they want to try getting a kid. Their friends and local colleagues agree to the plan. The Mars colony is a close-knit community, and they collectively decide that they will love and support the kid, whatever they are like. Whether they are rowdy or quiet. Whether they’re scientific or artistic. Whatever gender they are. Whether they're disabled or not.

The earth control doesn't like the idea, but they can't control what the Martians do, only do their best to adapt and help.

The first try- no. Second - another loss. Every pregnancy is keeping the whole Mars base at their toes. Constant checkups. Mental wellbeing regulated as well as physical health. The possibly pregnant woman is given less intense work and sports. She isn't allowed out of the areas with best radiation screening. She does still work, she has to, but she also spends a lot of time studying various things. Stuff about pregnancy, about children, but also music and literature and other kinds of arts. About all kinds of problems that may arise, but also about how to best take care of a child in general.

Her wife does a lot of studying, too, just as everyone else on the base. But she also takes the extra time to be with her pregnant partner. In all honesty, so does everyone. In some way, the child will be all of theirs. While in some way, they will be a child of all of humanity.

When the pregnancy doesn't end near the beginning, and then continues well for months, they are hopeful. And when a baby is born, after several years of trying, the Mars base celebrates. And far away, people on Earth celebrate the first human born off-planet.

As a small kid, the Mars-born child is unaware of their celebrity status on Earth. They will learn what it means, but not yet.

Growing culturally significant stuff even though it’s inefficient - Doing, too

Everything that can be recycled, is recycled

Outside soil made usable via mixing with compost and growing stuff that can extract nutritients from it

Do they have their own internet places? Earth internet connection, but slow? Friends at earth or other space colonies???

What if someone wants to move there? Exchange student? Could someone from earth be?

Friend with the aforementioned Mars-born kid? A science enthusiast - space kid more of an art person

Jump jump!! Very popular and also healthy. Climbing too!

Exchange students bring lots of Earth stuff with them. Some personal items, but mostly small things. For all, some spices not grown on mars, and other stuff they may need/ want / have requested.

Exchange students/new residents, how many? Five or ten? An nb person too!

Had lots of stuff to digitally read when on long travel. Travel is tiring and they ate mostly packed food bc it’s easy in zero-gravity (but also fresh vegetables that grow fast, and stuff grown in poo made compost - or is it just collected for use in mars? Probs. Other grown veggies)

Getting to know each other on the flight, also gotten to know each other on the before-launch stuff. One had to drop out at the last minute due to health problems :(

When on mars: “whoa there’s gravity!! How do I get used to this again??”

People of different professions. Some doctor, some scientist, some engineer, some person person like psychologist or smth

People exercise but also do crafts. Lots of 3d-printed stuff. Games!! Also on space flight! Full body sport games! Brain games! Very regular favorite games!

Lots of lag on online stuff though :( But lesser quality = ok and faster

Gardeners!!

So much focus on learning. And everyone got to do something, whatever they can. Even if they’d rather do art? Are ppl forced to exercise? Ableism what? How much is there of it?

Growing lights and lamps. Some, in living areas, syntethise daylight and night, some, in agricultural areas, are continuously on

Mostly plants that are small but wield lots of fast food, but some less fast food for special treats (like fruits from small pruned “bonsai trees")

A large open hall for sports, including stuff like soccer, tennis, and various team sports

At first the place is very small. It grows. The amount of ppl grows from less than 10 to more than 30. When the exchange students come, more than 50 - maybe around 70?

Someone rich gets there with their money? But is made to learn to do work and use the money not for themself but for the community. Is taught social and coworking skills etc.

Most people: problem? Research!

Several do digital art to some degree - or blog! Blog a lot. Or tweet or such. Videos! Of what life on Mars is like. Everyone must be aware that the public is interested.

Most time is spent in public areas. Work is often done in small groups. All specialised in something, but can do basics in everything.

Solar panels! Lots! On top of where the hub is underground.

Marswalks done rarely, and remote-controlled robots are used a lot. Robo bees! Roombas! Farming robots!

“Exchange students" the first few with not much previous experience. A bit less that 200 into tests, then maybe a hundred into further ed and evaluation, then a few dozen into training. Finally, about 10 best chosen. This way, younger people. Around 25 to 30 when to Mars. With a few more qualified people.

Biologists manage gardens. Engineers manage repairing and building new and 3d-printers. Doctors manage health. Chemists manage various stuff. Earth can always tell info and such when needed.

Downloaded books, online searches and videos though slow-ish to load. Calls and video conferences. New clothes from hemp grown on Mars!

Induction stove. Lots of food made by once. Stable food: beans? Sugar from where? GMO is used a lot. Sugar beets? Lots of new seeds brought every time something arrives - about every 2.5 years or longer. Good thing: no/few pests. Not many animals, possibly rats?

Most walls filled with stuff, esp. in older areas. Everyone owns not too many clothes. Maybe up to 5 outfits. Every time stuff is brought, they can wish for some. Not much though. A lot is 3d-printed on-site. Few personal belongings - most is co-owned. Works when there are few people and everyone knows everyone.

Baby gets clothes, most made of stuff grown on mars. Cutting made so it doesn’t trash fabric. Clothes are mended because making new takes a lot of resources. Kids’ clothes made a few sizes too big or so they can be easily expanded when they grow.

When exchange students come, there are a few kids. Maybe 3 who were born on Mars.

Kids are familiarized with work on Mars. Curriculum specialised for life on Mars. Made in unison with teaching experts on earth. No rigid school days, but a lot of learning. To work with the adults, though with an extra person to make sure they don’t mess things up.

A lot is automated. Taking care of the automated stuff is important.

Kids are not let into older parts. There are lots of things they may accidentally pull, and worse radiation filtering. They have some toys, 3d-printed. A few plushies, part or mostly made of extra fabric scraps

Space travel done in sleeping bags, they keep them when they come to mars.

Phones/laptops/equivalent for all. VR for games and learning! AR glasses?

cowardice, courage

it’s not a rash decision.. it is something that’s been festering in my mind and life the past 3 years, and my state of mind has just been deteriorating increasingly, because im STILL here. i want to stop being passive, stop doing smth which had been a consequence of ill decision making and which i hadnt had the will to terminate. somehow i had fooled my mum into believing this is a worthy path, because im the one who’s enabling this waste of time and her money.

i know where the problem lies: curriculum is shit and i get no concrete value from this education. yes i shouldve been done with it by now, but that’s just not what has happened, my inability to “just get this over and done with” in itself proves my desperation in wanting, but not being able to move on. most significantly, the ennui ive been experiencing is corroding my self worth. knowing the problem, knowing how it’s impacting my well being, knowing the source of my misery, yet having done nothing to help myself out of it.

what happens when im finally done with it, 8000$ + exam fees later, with a (low level) degree i never was invested in? i literally won’t even use it because i know what i want to pursue seriously and “professionally”. it will be useless, and i would have had subject myself to unimaginable inner torment to get there. i say unimaginable bc currently im in the worst state ive ever been (stopped experiencing “recovery” or “betterment”) and i just know it will worsen when school term starts. i can’t even stand the thought of repeating whatever it is we did in school, all over again. i dont wanna lose myself to this.

“find a job first and do what u want later” that’s what my fam says, they’re not the ones who have found a keen interest in things, or a passion for something. (i mean they’re not even liberals) they’re a product of societal conditioning, inactivated self awareness or just not utilised, and i dont want to be just that, esp since i am /the/ rebel in the fam. even in the context of an absurd world and futility, i know what excites me, what gives me vitality, i know what i advocate for, why have i not started doing things for myself and my own life? i want to live for the arts and for moments of connection.

i believe ive met with enough ppl in not just the arts scene, to see the different kinds of realities they live, and these are the ppl i wanna learn from. i have an honest idea of this kind of life, and im ready to live with it if i find myself in similar situations. ive told some of them that i admire them, and ive been given advice. i dont want to meet these ppl 1 year later, and have them tell me the same things. if there’s anything ive gained over these past few months, it’s that i need to stop being an observer, stop doing things i like as a distraction, but take them and myself seriously.

i know all this sounds idealistic and prob unimaginable for u, but ive seen it and i want to make it happen for myself. i can and will do so many things, amanda. right now i wanna be admitted to an arts program, bach or diploma undecided, so i need to read up on requirements, which require a portfolio. ill start looking thru what ive amassed, put some things together- photo series, text, short clips. produce some new things based on ideas ive had, submit to zines and publications, enter photography competitions, volunteer at events (alr signed up for one in nov, singapore writers festival). pick up my dslr again coz i haven’t had the capacity to do it recently. work more shifts at suntec temporarily (to at least pay my phone bills coz my mum says she’ll stop once i graduate so it’s the same), begin to experience the unemployed millenial life. i can look for some other contract jobs (im looking to work at the projector but ill need to work on my portfolio first). i do know some ppl already, and there are always opportunities floating around (lots of open calls). i just need to take this first step. yes ill prob be a failure to my mum, family, whoever, but at least i know ill be doing smth i want, amanda. not just waiting for smth i don’t want to face to be over. ill feel better, at least. and i i don’t know when else i would if not now.

the catalyst for this decision really was a long conversation i had with my friend on friday. he knew id been delaying the checking of my results, and before he left he just casually mentioned “u haven’t checked ur results right”, and i said yes i have. i said ill prob be more depressive once term starts, (we’ve talked abt this before) he said he really thinks i ought to do smth abt it, and i became silent and he sensed smth was amiss and then he talked to me for a loong while. i got a stress headache coz its just difficult. one of the things he asked was “what hurts you the most?” i couldn’t answer so he gave me 3 options: family, self worth, (forgot the last one lol), and i said self worth. this past weekend everything here was all i thought abt (cried, obviously), and ytd i texted him (while at an exhbition): “i realise a big part of my cowardice has been towards my mum. the first step i need to take is putting myself somewhere i want to be, knowing that she has stopped having faith in me and cant support me. it’s what hurts me the most”
