The Seattle Thunderbirds have Luke Prokop, the only openly gay hockey player in pro or semi-pro hockey right now, but they chose not to hold a Pride Night this year. So fans said fine, we’ll hold our own.

Luke promoted it on Instagram but because it was unofficial, I didn’t expect anything from the players.

Except.

Every. Single. Player used Pride tape in some way for warmups. ALL OF THEM, stepping up in a way grown-ass men are afraid to do.

My work sometimes has baking competitions and we had one for Halloween a few days ago so I entered as I always do. I made a Battenberg cake, but I did orange and purple checkerboard to be festive. The competition was really me vs one specific coworker who always wins both categories (taste and presentation) because he makes cakes that look and taste so perfect he has to provide photographic evidence that he made it himself and didn't buy it. This time it was a white vanilla cake with white whipped vanilla icing and strawberry compote on top. It was beautiful, it tasted store-bought (a little boring to me tbh) and ofc the entire office was gushing over how perfect this cake was. I was so fucking sure I was gonna lose again BUT I won for Best Presentation, and I won by SEVERAL votes!! (my coworker got best tasting, fair enough the masses love vanilla).

BUT ofc one of my coworkers (who's a bit of a dunce) was telling me how this other coworkers cake was just so perfect and so professional and she couldn't believe people didn't give him Best Presentation because they didn't think he made it himself and how unfair it was to him and I was like first of all, fuck off I won fair and square. Second, everyone KNOWS he made it and it WAS a gorgeous cake, but mine won probably because it was more interesting. Yeah it looked a little wonky and homemade but yknow what looking perfect and shiny and flawless isn't always what makes something good idk! Sometimes things that are a little less 'professional' really speak to people! Something 2 think about!
