The Killing Cure (Part 12)
It’s been a hot minute but I’m back from my vacation. I mentioned on my other fic that I just got a new job so updates will still probably be slow as I now have a job on top of art fight, a zine, two other fics, and an original story. So a big thanks to everyone who sticks with this one and for all of the patience.
Out of all of the beings that roam this godforsaken Earth, humans, monsters, mutants...it is Winters. Winters who has been on her mind since she kissed him. She wishes that she could call it an impulse but is it really an impulse if she had been thinking--however loosely--about it for several days before?
She wishes that he would do something to make her irreparably mad. But he doesn’t, he only ever seems to make her feel a sense of comfort. Even now when she is cringing at the sight of herself in a pair of pants, the man stands behind her with a collection of compliments. “You look great.” He promises. “It’s going to take some getting used to, you being dressed down, but it’s nice.”
Nice. He thinks that she looks nice. It is such a simple word, so plain, ordinary. But it means everything to her. Everything when she has felt anything but nice or attractive… “I’ve looked better.” She waves the compliment off. But, by God, it has taken at least some of the edge off of her mild sense of self loathing.
Ethan shrugs. “You just have to get used to streetwear.”
She chances another look in the mirror; she supposes that it isn’t quite so horrible. The shirt is loose and breathable though the linen fabric isn’t as kind on her skin as many of her gowns are. The pants are less comfy, more restrictive than her dresses but are easier to maneuver in without tripping. And she supposes that they don’t look too unflattering on her.
She jerks when Ethan suddenly thumps her hat onto her head. He laughs at her little jolt. “Do not test me, Winters! We have a long journey ahead of us.”
“Just trying to help.” He replies. “I didn’t want you to forget your favorite hat.”
He favorite hate is actually several sizes too big for her and sits draped over a chair. But with an exact replica of it, she decides that the technicalities aren’t worth mentioning. “Are my girls ready?”
“They’re your daughters, you check on them.”
.oOo.
He watches Alcina make her way out of the room. Words and hissed out promises aside, the woman has become increasingly less hostile since she’d kissed him. He smiles to himself, at least he isn’t the most awkward of the two of them anymore. At least, he isn’t alone in his conflicted, affectionate feelings.
She comes back with her daughters in tow; Bela has a grip on her left hand and Cassandra holds the left. Daniela, untethered, zips about, occasionally cutting in front of the other three before falling behind once more. The three of them are bundled up heavily, almost absurdly so. Alcina comes to a stop at the center of the room and Daniela takes the opportunity to lift her off of the ground.
“Daniela…” she grumbles through clenched teeth, “we talked about this…”
The woman cackles and puts her mother back down before bursting into a cloud of flies and rebuilding herself several feet away. Ethan has never seen anyone look less amused than Alcina in that moment. “We’re ready, Ethan.”
A jolt of adrenaline pulses through him, it is once again real. His mission is once again in sight and the dangers are once again going to be pressing. He wonders if Alcina is nervous now that illness has taken the place of a powerful mutation. She is just an ordinary woman with very basic gun skills. She gives no indication of nervousness, regardless of how she feels within.
Having grown used to the warmth of Castle Dimitrescu the cold stikes Ethan’s face as tough tendrils of the aurora borealis have reached down and coiled around his face. His is overcome by shivers, he can only imagine how the fly beasts are handling it. He doesn’t have to imagine it, one look behind him and he knows that they are recoiling. He thinks that he can hear faint crackles.
His speculation becomes knowledge when he sees the panic on Alcina’s face. Without a word of warning, she grabs all three of her daughters and, with more strength than he realized small Alcina has, ushers them back into the warmth of the castle.
Ethan follows her back inside. Her face is twisted in distress and concern, her breathing hastened. “Oh, my poor dears.” She mumbles more to herself than any of the three. “My poor little darlings…” She sandwiches Daniela’s hands between hers. “Winters, you get them some blankets,  now.”
Stress pinches her tone and he elects to ignore the snappiness of her request. She holds Daniela to her chest, letting the woman drink in her body heat.
.oOo.
Were she herself she would be more efficient. She would mostly envelop Daniela until the frost retracts from her skin. Having skipped the test steps and thrown herself headfirst into the frosty outside world, the woman had taken the worst of its merciless frigidness--she is too bold for her own safety.
Alcina holds her so close--feeling the woman’s shivers and shakes--and brushes her hand over her hair.  For once she finds herself thankful for her softness, it gives her an added warmth which she extends to Daniela. She has the urge to squeeze the woman but she must handle her with care, she is so terribly fragile right now.
Ethan comes back with three blankets which he wraps around Bela and Cassandra and then over Daniela’s. “Thank you, Ethan.” She murmurs as she continues to stroke Daniela’s hair. “We will have to see if the Duke will be a gentleman enough to look after my daughters while I’m gone.”
Ethan nods.
“Mother, it’s so cold.” Bela whimpers.
“It hurts.” Cassandra adds.
“I know dears, it’s going to be alright.”
“I think that I’m dying, mother.”
Alcina shakes her head, “no, Daniela. You’re going to be just fine, dear. We’ll get you nice and warm again.” She kisses the top of her head.
“I saw a deer pretty close by, I can get them some warm deer blood.” Ethan offers.
“Yes, Ethan, that would be ideal.”
With only a nod, he makes his way outside again. There is a new fluttering in her belly alongside the anxious tickles. She isn’t sure what to make of these flutters. But she knows where they come from. She watches Ethan through the window, watches him chase the deer down, likely cussing and shouting. She observes and she can’t help but let her mind wander. She barely knows him beyond the very basics. She has mostly tormented the man, mocked him. And yet he is good to her. He is kind to her girls. They aren’t even his own and yet he is fetching meals and warmth for them.
.oOo.
Ethan is completely drained by the time he gets back from his deer hunt. Physically and mentally--he can’t hold it against them, it isn’t the fault of the daughters that they can’t endure the cold. But it is still a setback. Still one more day away from finding Rose. One more day that leads her closer to a heinous sort of death.
He leaves the deer on the table, decidedly the girls can eat it raw and he can fix himself and Alcina a meal. Or perhaps she’d be willing to do the cooking this time. He opens his mouth to call for the daughters but the flies are already gathering. Three identical swarms that take shape.
“Where’s your mother?” He asks at the shaping of Cassandra.
The girl shrugs, “either the kitchen, having a bath, or the bedroom.”
“I’ll check the kitchen.” He knows that she is there before he reaches it. He isn’t exactly sure what she is cooking but she has added what smells like an overabundance of spice.
“What are we cooking?”
“I am cooking soup.” Alcina sets a bowl on the table. “Just a little recipe that Donna showed me.”
“She really loves her spices.”
Alcina shakes her head, “I like spices. Donna cooks her food quite bland. Donna favors simplicity.”
“Your daughters seem like they are recovering well.”
She sighs, “they should be in bed resting.” She clicks her tongue. “I can never get them to rest well. Daniela wakes up and then all three of them are awake.”
Ethan laughs, “sounds about right, kids are just like that no matter how old they get.” He pauses, “do you need rest?”
Alcina thinks for a moment, “I will be fine for now. The medications are working quite sufficiently.”
“That’s good to hear.”
“You sound unhappy.”
“I was hoping to be well on our way to find Rose.” He sees the vexation flash across her face but before she can rave at him he adds, “it’s...fine, it isn’t their fault. Just frustrating circumstances.” This answer seems to placate the woman. She silently continues eating her soup. He has to admit that it isn’t bad at all. Perhaps a little strong for his tastes but he is just thankful that he didn’t have to cook this time. “You don’t seem all too happy either.” He comments after pushing his bowl aside.
Alcina stares into her empty soup bowl. “I’m afraid of losing my girls. Today was a reminder of just how easily it can happen. They’ve been in more danger lately than they have been in, in years…” She stands and beckons for him to follow. Once upon a time, perhaps only a week or so ago, he would have hesitated. This time he trails closely behind her.
“I have a feeling that everyone will be too preoccupied trying to kill us to go after them.” He shrugs. He supposes that that isn’t all too reassuring. He is surprised to see her smile slightly and nod in agreement. There is something comforting about her willingness to die in place of her daughters, to put herself in danger to keep it far away from them. Humanity, he realizes. And he realizes too, that she would have done the same prior to his arrival. Humanity in a woman who, at that point, hadn’t been human in so long.
He watches her climb onto her bed. She gives a rather dramatic sigh and mutters, “I should make sure that my girls are…”
“I can get them into bed.” He doesn’t allow for protest. Rather, he slips out of the room and herds the three of them into their room.
“Do we get another bedtime story, Winters?” Bela asks.
“I wasn’t planning--”
“We need a story to sleep.” Daniela insists. “Mother always reads to us.”
And thus he finds himself suckered into reading them to sleep a second time. Alcina, he finds, has nodded off in his absence and jolts awake at his sudden reappearance. She grumbles something, that he can’t quite catch, about knocking first. “Sorry.” He mouths. Truth  be told, he isn’t sure why he has come back to her room instead of going to the guest bedroom. “They’re all tucked in and read to.”
The smile she gives him this time is much softer than usual, sleepier too. It is pleasant, inviting. He finds himself wondering, again, who she had been before the mutation. What she had been like prior to Mother Miranda. She pats a spot on the bed next to her.
“Thank you for caring for my girls. They can be...difficult to manage when it is just me.”
“You’re…” he feels her weight shift onto him. “You’re welcome.” He chances holding her with his right arm. When she doesn’t jerk away or protest, he strokes her hair, trying to ease her stress away.  He thinks that it is working.
It must be... She said it wouldn’t happen again, he knew that she was lying, he just didn’t expect her to stray from her promise so soon; she kisses his neck. And when she closes her eyes and rests her head against him, her curls tickle his neck. He holds his hand against her cheek--he supposes that he will be spending another night in her company. A night with her in his arms.

high school au where geralt and jaskier were neighbors in elementary/primary school. vesemir adopted geralt lambert and eskel because he had been friends with their parents and they all died in some sort of accident that vesemir barely survived. he took them all in but as a result geralt was quieter than most young kids. jaskier doesn’t know any of this but when he moves in next to geralt he sees eskel and lambert wrestling while geralt is sitting by himself on the sidelines and goes to talk to him. jaskier talks enough for the both of them and geralt is annoyed but the more he sees jaskier the more glad he is for not feeling so alone.
at some point in elementary school jaskiers family moves away and he goes to tell geralt crying (at this point definitely friends with lambert and eskel but in that way where if siblings tease your friend you stand up to them) and geralt can’t understand him through tears so he hugs him and jaskier cries harder because geralt doesn’t say much but he does say “i’ll miss you” and jaskier will miss his best friend who would always sit with him at lunch and go along with his monster hunting games at recess even if he tried to sing to all the monsters while geralt would occasionally point out monsters weren’t very nice and geralt will miss having someone who didn’t need him to talk constantly because his words seemed to have left with his parents who he doesn’t remember well but now he just can’t seem to voice things but jaskier never cared and always talked about so many things and jaskier asks his parents if geralt can spend the night one last time before they move and they do and in the morning geralt cries when jaskier leaves with his parents but they promise to write each other
jaskier of course sends dozens of letters constantly all filled with the new people he’s meeting and the classes and who he likes and who he doesn’t and that he misses geralt but geralts letters don’t have much in them because once jaskier leaves he finds no one in class really wanted to talk to the nice kids quiet and kinda scary looking friend so he’s mostly by himself. his letters are sparse in that he mostly talks about different projects that he lambert and eskel get up to, like building a treehouse or vesemir getting them wooden swords that they practice fighting with in the back yard and maybe geralt writes about all the books he reads about wildlife and fauna because he loves the outdoors but something happens to jaskier and he doesn’t write geralt back for a week and he doesn’t think anything of it but a week turns to months and geralt is sad, sad that his only friend stopped writing him wonders if he said something in a letter or they were too boring or maybe jaskier just got with the program like the rest of geralts classmates and decided he wasn’t worth talking to anymore
the year before geralt starts high school vesemir decides to move the boys to his uncles ranch instead of selling it when he passes. there geralt meets roach and learns the ways of taking care of everything on the ranch and vesemir homeschools then for a year so they can get acclimated to life on the ranch and the work necessary to take care of animals. when geralt starts high school he assumes it’ll be like his last school experience and so he sorta keeps his head down but some kid in the hallway bumps into him and when he looks up it’s jaskier and jaskiers not bumping into him he’s hugging him and saying “oh my god geralt it is you it’s been so long i didn’t think i’d see you again” and geralt is confused and people are staring but jaskier doesn’t seem to care and geralt hugs him back and jaskier asks if he can come to his place after school because he has so many things to tell him and geralt agrees because vesemir had always like jaskier who had been a cheery sort of loud in a very grief filled house. so when vesemir comes to pick them all up jaskier has hugged lambert and eskel and all of the other students are completely baffled by the school’s lead band and theater nerd hugging these really tall and quiet and intimidating new kids but vesemir lets him in the car and it’s a little awkward because he remembers geralt being broken up that he stopped writing him and tells jaskier as much and jaskier is crying because he’s so sorry but his parents got really strict when the moved (they liked being in-the-know in parent circles and wanted their kid to be worth bragging about) so they signed jaskier up for piano and guitar and violin and it was so many hours of playing that his fingers hurt so bad by the end of the day he couldn’t write but his parents didn’t let up so jaskier tucked the letters away and geralt stopped writing too so he thought maybe geralt forgot about him and he’s sitting in the backseat of his friends dads car crying his eyes out and geralt wraps and arm around him and vesemir’s heart breaks for the kid and suddenly geralt has the high school experience he never thought he would because jaskier knows everyone (isn’t liked by everyone because he’s constantly first chair and lead in school plays/musicals - take that valdo marx) but now the kids that had bullied him in middle school see that he has three giant protectors and all of jaskiers friends quickly realize how absolutely soft the brothers are and sort of adopt them and the mascots of the music department. and maybe the brothers sign up for backstage help for jaskiers musicals because they’re good at constructing things like sets or strong enough to pull ropes when jaskier plays peter pan but he also talks them into going out for sports and they turn out to be amazing at wrestling and fencing or something.
and with all the dances that take place in high school jaskier of course goes to all of them and makes sure geralt and lambert and eskel go to and they have a great time because lambert and eskel are really good at dancing and geralt smiles while jaskier absolutely nails every note even as his voice gets hoarse by the end of the night (but also keeps his eye out for people spiking jaskier’s drink or girls drinks because he heard someone in the locker room say something and so he kinda becomes the protector at school dances who makes sure that people who say no still get to have a good time) but when prom rolls around geralt is starting to realize that he likes jaskier as more than just a friend and jaskier came out to him as bi like 6 months into freshman year and knows that jaskier dated like, more than half their grade in middle school so geralt thinks that jaskier won’t want them to all go as a group to prom because he’ll actually want a date so he resigns himself to just not going because he wouldn’t want to watch jaskier dancing with someone all night.
but then jaskier gets together all of the letters that geralt wrote to him in elementary school and wraps them up and leaves them on geralts desk and geralt reads through them and recognizes them and had thought jaskier joking when he said he kept them (geralt kept his of course but jaskier looses things constantly) and when geralt gets to the end of the stack of letters he sees one he doesn’t recognize because that’s not his handwriting it’s jaskier’s asking him to be his date to prom but also his boyfriend and jaskier was grateful he did this in a music room during lunch and not in the lunch room because geralt is crying but doesn’t realize it and he’s hugging jaskier saying yes of course i’ll go with you and they go to prom and jaskier looks gorgeous and geralt looks handsome and it goes great but jaskier maybe has one too many spiked fruit punches and tells geralt he loves him and geralt is blown away that this gorgeous and kind human being loves him and just kisses jaskier like an earthquake. of course he loves jaskier - more than anyone.
so jaskier gets accepted to juilliard or something for college and geralt isn’t exactly sure what he wants to do so he follows jaskier and gets a job taking care of horses while jaskier completes college and they live together and geralt helps pay for jaskiers tuition and they make it work and jaskier forms a theater company or joins one or something maybe writes a hit musical i don’t know but he’s famous and geralt travels with him to all his shows (and i wasn’t sure how to write yennifer into this) but she’s one of jaskier’s troupe who is sarcastic and geralt likes her because she’s talented and jaskier is jealous but she becomes geralts first friend that stays that isn’t jaskier and of course jaskier stops being jealous when yennifer admits to dating this cute nurse back home (tissia) and evening less jealous when geralt finally proposes (after much hounding from yen) and with jaskiers money they buy a home together and geralt takes care of animals and runs essentially an animal sanctuary while jaskier travels around performing or writing but they’re happy and geralt couldn’t have asked for more but yennifer and tissia decide they want to have a daughter and name her ciri and declare them both her uncles, if not sort of dads because she’ll really have like 4 parents given how often she stays with geralt when yen and jaskier perform shows around the world and they offer to watch he when yen and tissia have date night so they’re more like a really large extended family and yen and tissia don’t really have family on their side so when christmas rolls around and vesemir and lambert and eskel meet yen and tissia and ciri it’s a huge fucking circus but geralt and jaskier have more than enough space and geralt can’t believe how lucky he is but then neither can jaskier

“Black Magic Winchester” Part I - Hunting Fic
Tumblr media
Summary:  Set during Season Two, after "Folsom Prison Blues", the boys get a call from Bobby asking for help on a missing persons case. What they think to be a simple monster hunt turns out to be much darker than the hunters anticipated. With Sam still reeling from his visions and Dean having no idea how to help his little brother, how will they handle tracking down the darkness that has appeared in Sioux Falls?
Word Count: 5250
Warning: Typical SPN Violence
Song I Wrote To: “Human” by Rag ‘N” Bone Man
Note: We love a good story about Bobby and his boys
-------
The shrill ringing of Sam’s phone woke the Winchesters from their very much needed sleep.
Dean woke up first, startled, his hand instantly going for the gun he kept under his pillow. After a moment, his senses came back to him. Groaning, he grabbed a pillow and threw it at his groggy brother. “Sammy,” he whined, “phone.”
Sam rolled over, blindly reaching for his cellphone on the bedside table. Ignoring his grumbling brother, Sam peered at the small screen. “It’s Bobby,” Sam yawned as he accepted the call. “Hey, Bobby, what’s up?”
“Are you with your brother?” Bobby Singer asked. Sam frowned at the question.
“Yeah, why wouldn’t I be?” he asked.
“Just making sure,” Bobby said. “Can you two meet me at mine? Need your help on somethin’.”
“Is everything okay?” Sam asked, suddenly concerned. Dean, noting the tone in his brother’s voice, rolled over, his brows pulled together.
“What’s wrong?” he asked Sam who held up his hand, telling Dean to wait.
“Bobby?” Sam asked.
“Everything is fine, just get your asses over here,” Bobby told him. The call ended and Sam looked at the phone in confusion. Dean raised his brows, waiting. Sam shrugged.
“Said he needs us on something,” Sam explained.
“Did he sound hurt? Or worried?” Dean asked.
“Not really,” Sam told him, “he sounded a bit...mad?” Dean sighed, sitting up in his bed.
“So, he sounded like Bobby?”
“Yeah, pretty much.”
“Well, come on, let’s see what the grumpy old man wants.”
When the Impala rolled into the salvage yard, Sam and Dean kept their eyes open, looking for any signs of distress, but Bobby’s place looked exactly how they left it the last time they visited.
“Do you think this has to do with The Demon?” Sam asked as he climbed out of the car.
“If it was, he would have told you on the phone,” Dean pointed out.
“Maybe he didn’t want to. You know, in case the demon was listening,” Sam offered. Dean rolled his eyes at his brother.
“So, demons are wire-tapping now? Sometimes I wonder about you, Sam,” Dean said as he jogged up the steps to the main house. Dean knocked on the door, “Bobby?” There was no answer. Dean glanced at Sam who shrugged and together they pushed into the house. The disheveled Singer house was covered in books, scrolls, weapons, and anything else a wayward hunter would need. The boys loved it, both for different reasons, but still, it was the only home they had at the moment.
“Bobby!” Sam called as they passed by the main room and into the kitchen, but there was still no sign of Singer.
“What? Did he decide to take a vacation last minute?” Dean asked, staring at the empty room.
“How am I supposed to take a vacation when I constantly have to look after you two?” Sam and Dean turned at the sound of Bobby’s voice. The older man stood in the doorway behind them, holding a journal in his hands, a scowl on his face.
“Oh, hey Bobby,” Dean greeted with a smile. “You good?” Bobby narrowed his eyes at the older Winchester and that had Dean dropping his smile instantly and glancing at his brother who lightly shrugged.
“Am I good?” Bobby asked slowly. Then, he took a few steps forward, raised the journal, and smacked Dean in the back of the head with it.
“Hey!” Dean exclaimed as Bobby turned to Sam and did the same thing.
“Prison!” Bobby yelled. “You decided to get yourselves incarcerated? I swear the two of you are going to send me to an early grave!” Rubbing the back of his head, Sam went to explain when Bobby raised his finger to him. “No, you’re going to listen for a minute. What the hell were you two thinking? You are the most wanted men in the country right now. Not to mention the fact that the feds still think Dean is some kind of psycho killer and as for Sam, well they just think Sam is straight-up crazy.”
“What?” Sam asked and Bobby glared at him. Sam shut up again.
“We take precautions, boys, so that this doesn’t happen, and then you two just willingly get yourselves thrown in jail? Are you stupid?” Sam and Dean were silent, glancing at each other. “You can speak now.” Sam nudged Dean.
“It was a job, Bobby. We owed Deacon and he needed help. Crazy ghost nurse, dead inmates, and the chance to screw with the system? I liked our odds,” Dean explained.
“I hated our odds,” Sam grumbled.
“Prison life didn’t agree with Sammy,” said Dean. “I, however, didn’t do so bad.”
“That isn’t something to be proud of,” Bobby said, throwing down the journal on the counter.
“Come on, Bobby,” Dean continued, “there was a job and people were being killed. What were we supposed to do?”
“You pass it along to someone else! You two, the most wanted hunters in the country, don’t go into a maximum-security prison just to take out one spirit!”
“Why are you jumping down our throats about this?” Dean asked. “This is the job!”
“Because you were reckless! So many things could have gone wrong, Dean! What if the escape plan didn’t work? What if Henriksen had figured a way out to transfer you sooner? This was your dumbest plan yet!”
“That’s what I said,” Sam put in.
“Shut it,” Bobby shot back, “I’m angry with you too.”
“Bobby,” Dean said a bit softer, “everything worked out the way it was supposed to. We got the spook, saved some lives, and got the FBI off our tail for now. I would say that while it was risky, the risk was worth it.”
“It was still moronic and reckless,” Bobby lectured, “Your daddy raised you and taught you not to be stupid and I know that I taught you better too.” Realization lit up in Dean’s eyes.
“You’re not mad,” Dean said, “you were worried.”
“Of course I was worried,” Bobby said, “I’m a good hunter, boys, but if they took you away to some offshore black site… How was I supposed to be able to find you? You’re my responsibility now and your recklessness ain’t making it easy on my ticker.”
“Bobby,” Sam began, “you don’t need to look after us, we’re not kids anymore.”
“Like hell, I don’t, boy,” Bobby said. “You’re stuck with me, you and your dumbass brother.”
“Hey!” exclaimed Dean.
“Don’t look at me like that,” said Bobby, “I know this was your plan.” Dean shrugged in defeat. “Just, promise me that if you’re going to do something utterly ridiculous and idiotic, you’ll call me first.” There was a beat of silence before Sam nodded.
“We promise,” Sam said.
“Yeah, promise,” Dean agreed. Bobby let out a breath, nodding.
“Okay, good. I’m going to hold that promise to you boys.”
“Yes, Sir,” Sam said with a smile.
“So, is that why you called us?” Dean asked, “To give us a lecture?”
“Partly,” Bobby said, “but I was serious when I said I needed your help on somethin’.” Bobby led them into the main room. Going over to the desk, he picked up a folder and handed it to Sam. It was a Sioux Falls police file.
“Where did you get this?” Sam asked, opening it.
“You’re not the only one who knows how to pick a lock, Sam,” Bobby deadpanned.
“Fair enough.”
“What is it?” Dean asked as Sam angled the file for Dean to read.
“We’ve had hikers gone missing in the past couple of weeks. Hikers disappearing isn’t exactly odd around these parts except for the fact that all these people are seasoned. They know what paths to take in which season, where the rangers stations are, everything. They wouldn’t just get lost and not show up again,” Bobby explained.
“When did the last one go missing?” Sam asked.
“He was reported missing by his daughter yesterday morning. Cops have nothing as usual, but they don’t know what we know,” said Bobby.
“Theories?” Dean asked.
“A few, but they haven’t found any bodies yet so I can’t be sure of anything, but I would rule out demons,” Bobby said.
“No omens then?” asked Sam.
“None, just four hikers gone and a whole lot of confused cops.”
“Have they organized searches for the hikers?” Dean asked, looking over one of the missing person reports.
“They had one for the first and planned for the second, but once the fourth one went missing, cops are keeping the trails clear of civilians,” Bobby explained. “Probably think it’s some rabid animal or a maniac taking people.”
“What’s the moon cycle like?” asked Sam.
“Not wolves, already checked,” said Bobby. “Besides, when wolves eat, they just take the heart and leave the rest. If this were werewolves, we would have found the bodies by now.”
“Yay for leftovers,” Dean muttered. “Okay, so not wolves, not demons, what else are you thinking?”
“Well,” began Bobby as he leaned against the desk, crossing his arms. “Another reason I called the two of you. You’ve taken on vamps before, right? Your daddy taught you how to kill them?”
“Yeah, we helped take out a nest with him when we went to find the colt the first time,” Sam said.
“You think a vampire is doing this?” Dean asked.
“No bodies, no blood,” Bobby recounted, “either it’s taking them to eat later or it’s building a nest.”
“And if it’s not vampires?” Sam asked.
“Then my other bet is witches or vengeful spirit,” Bobby finished.
“Could this also just be a maniac?” Dean offered.
“Humans are sloppy as you should know,” Bobby said with a pointed look at Dean who frowned. “So, no, I do not think this is some serial killer trying to rid Sioux Falls from their regular rock climbers.” Dean and Bobby stared at each other, gauging the other’s expression. Sam looked between the two before clearing his throat.
“Well, I say that we hit the research and see if anyone has died mysteriously on the trails in recent history,” Sam said, “That way we can rule out a spirit. If nothing comes of it, we will head out to the forest tomorrow and look for signs of vamps or witchcraft. Fair?”
“Sounds good to me,” Dean said, picking up a random book and slouching into the couch across the room. Sam hiked his laptop bag higher on his shoulder.
“He does realize that a book on the history of fertility sigils won’t help him with this, right?” Bobby whispered to Sam.
“I’m just glad he picked up a book for once.” finished Sam.
The three hunters combed through the town’s archives all night.
Bobby had acquired many articles and files since living in Sioux Falls and Sam was using every source he could find on his laptop, looking for any suspicious deaths in the area involving hikers. Dean was sipping coffee as he read through newspaper articles, marking the deaths he deemed important.
Halfway through the night, Sam had drifted off, his laptop forgotten next to him on the floor. Dean got up and slung a blanket over his little brother’s snoozing form before going back to his work next to Bobby.
Any chance Dean caught Sam sleeping, he relished in it. The kid barely slept anymore. He was always worried about seeing a vision and stressing over it. The Demon had said he had plans for Sam and others like him and Dean had become so accustomed to protecting Sam from anything life had thrown at them, he hated seeing his brother in so much pain.
While he had been angry when Sam left him and their dad, he knew Sam was safer at school. However, even that proved to not be worth anything. Jess was gone and Sam was faced with evil every day. John’s words ran through Dean’s head all the time. How was he supposed to fight the evil that lived in his little brother? He wasn’t even sure if what dwelled inside Sam was as powerful as they originally thought. They fought darkness all the time and this was no different. They would fight this and Dean was determined to keep his brother safe.
“If you keep staring at him, you’re never going to get any work done,” Bobby said next to Dean.
“Right,” replied Dean, slowly refocusing back on the task at hand.
“You are allowed to be worried for him, you know?”
“I know, I just wish I didn’t have to worry about this,” Dean admitted. “Of all the things, Bobby… How am I supposed to protect him from this?”
“I don’t know,” Bobby sighed. “Sam is strong, he’s resilient. The two of you have been through a lot in your lives. You will get through this. Besides, I’m right here with you.” Dean ran a hand over his face and turned to look at the man who was like family to him.
“Thanks, Bobby,” Dean said. “I don’t know what I would do if…” he trailed off, trying to find his words. “After my dad, it’s been hard to imagine having anyone else but Sam, but now I know I can still count you in to help clean up our messes.” Bobby smiled, grabbing Dean’s shoulder.
“Hell, you help me clean up mine from time to time. That’s what family does, boy,” Bobby said, dropping his hand. “Look at him,” he said, turning to the younger Winchester, “he’s okay. He’s safe right now. Nothing cataclysmic is happening. Just focus on one day at a time. Right now we have a job to do. Once we solve this mystery, we’ll work on Sam’s, okay?”
Dean took a deep breath and then let it out. He nodded to Bobby and picked up his work again as he listened to Sam’s even breaths.
The following day, Sam needed a break.
By the time he had woken up, Dean and Bobby were both in the kitchen, drinking coffee. Sam figured that the two of them maybe only had a few hours of sleep and even after the many hours he got himself, he still felt exhausted.
Sam wandered the salvage yard, kicking at stray bolts and loose rocks that littered the gravel. So far, they hadn’t got much from the articles. Also, there was no indication that a nest had been in the area before. If it was vampires, it was a very new situation. One that they would need to handle quickly before it managed to create more of its kind and endanger more of the lives of Sioux Falls.
Leaning against a gutted Mustang, Sam let the sun warm his face, listening to the morning around him, trying to organize his thoughts. He had many theories on what was taking the hikers, but they all included ghosts. Perhaps he was just wishing it was spooks because they were easy. To the Winchesters, it was always a good day when a hunt was predictable.
“Thinking about getting a tan?” Sam turned to find Dean walking towards him.
“Yeah, I was thinking I was looking a little pale,” Sam joked.
“Yeah, you should get out more,” teased Dean as he joined his brother on the hood of the Mustang. “So, is that brain working overtime or are you out here to enjoy the sunshine?”
“I was thinking spirits, but I don’t know. I could be wrong,” Sam admitted. “Did you find anything?”
“Just, that a bunch of hikers did happen to disappear in a nearby town around thirty years ago. Similar to what’s happening here,” said Dean.
“Did they ever find them?” asked Sam. Dean shook his head.
“Nope. They all just vanished. A couple of kids found one of the backpacks at the bottom of a ravine, but that’s it. No bodies, no suspects,” Dean explained.
“So, not ghosts, then,” Sam realized, “Ghosts don’t move from town to town.”
“Not unless they’re attached to something,” Dean pointed out.
“What would they be attached to in a forest?” Sam asked.
“Okay, fair point,” agreed Dean. “So then I guess we’re back to vamps. Great, just what we need. More fangs.”
“Well if it is vampires, we need to keep this quiet,” Sam warned, “The last thing we need is for Gordon to show up.” Dean made a face of disgust.
“Yeah, that would not go over well at all…” said Dean remembering the last time they encountered the hunter with an obsession with the undead. “Do you think he’s still mad at me?”
“You left him tied to a chair after letting a nest of vampires go,” Sam reminded him, “not to mention the punching and the threatening.”
“This is true,” said Dean. “Okay, you have a point. Keep it quiet, just between the three of us. Family hunt?” Sam nodded, “I like it.” They were quiet for a moment before Sam started to laugh. It wasn’t a laugh of joy but realization. One that usually happened at slightly inappropriate times. “What’s wrong with you?” Dean asked, staring at his brother from the corner of his eye. “Are you having a breakdown? Is this finally your psychic breakdown? Do I need to call a doctor?” Sam pushed Dean’s shoulder as he continued to chuckle.
“No, no,” Sam assured him, “I was just thinking about yesterday when Bobby was pissed at us for going into the jail.”
“And that’s funny?” Dean asked, still confused. Sam nodded. “Dude he smacked us with a journal.”
“Okay, but imagine if Dad was here,” Sam said, “Can you imagine his reaction?”
“No, because he probably wouldn’t even be around to yell at us about it,” Dean said without a second thought.
“Exactly,” Sam said and then began laughing again, “Or our asses would be in jail and he would probably end up turning it into some life lesson. I can hear his voice in my head. He would say, ‘Boys, this was stupid and do you know what else is stupid? Getting your asses handed to you by the FBI in the first place’,” Sam said in an excellent imitation of John Winchester. Dean joined in on the laughing.
“And then he would lay out the way he would have done it. Step by step all while having that furrowed brow,” Dean said, his brows pulled together dramatically. “You know, sometimes, you remind me of him,” Dean admitted.
“Yeah, I know,” Sam said, his laughter dying out.
“What?” Dean asked, surprised, “ ‘I know’, that’s it? You’re not going to jump down my throat for comparing you to Dad?” Sam shook his head.
“No, I’m not. I’ve accepted that he and I...we had more in common than I used to want to admit,” Sam said, staring down at his feet.
“Well then,” Dean said, clearly surprised at this revelation, “You know what that is, Sammy?” Sam glanced at Dean. “Growth, Sammy, you’ve grown.” Dean laughed again and Sam rolled his eyes.
“And yet, you’re still a dick.”
“Wouldn’t have it any other way, little brother.” Dean pushed off the car. “Come on, Bobby wants to head into the woods. Maybe we can find something the cops missed.”
“Right, because the fake police always do better than the real ones?”
“When monsters are involved, they do,” Dean said, throwing Sam a smile over his shoulder.
Sam, Dean, and Bobby were crouched at the edge of the main road.
The hiking trails were only a mile or two in, but they had encountered a slight problem. It seemed that the real police were interested in the large expanse of forests much to Dean’s surprise.
“So, the fine men and women of Sioux Falls do care about missing people? That’s...comforting,” he whispered.
“The sheriff is one hell of a leader,” Bobby said and Dean swore he could hear some praise in his voice. “Though, I heard on the scanner that the presence here is more of a warning. To let people know the risks and all that,” Bobby explained. Dean frowned at the twin patrol cars that lined the entrance to the trails.
“Can’t they mark the trails off? Keep them closed until they figure out what happened to the hikers?” Sam asked.
“They haven’t found any bodies, Sam,” Bobby reminded him. “Officially, they aren’t missing, dead, or in danger. Police won’t do anything until they have something they can work off of.”
“Well,” interjected Dean, “we have gone off less and if it’s vampires,” he brandished his machete, “we got some work to do.”
Keeping out of sight, the three men crept around the officers and entered the thick forest from the Southside. They stayed in the shadows until the sounds of the main road became muffled and indiscernible. They kept their blades ready in their hands and their eyes were constantly scanning their surroundings.
Sam made notes of where they were with his compass and the map he had grabbed from Bobby’s study just in case they got turned around. Occasionally, Sam would hear Dean swear behind him as his older brother tripped of a root or got spooked by a random flying insect and every time it gave Sam just a bit of joy.
“Are you okay back there?” Sam asked after Dean nearly fell into a large fern.
“Shut up,” Dean shot back.
“Not a fan of hiking, Dean?” Bobby asked, hiding his smile.
“Last time we hiked through a forest we were with Ranger Rick and a crazed wendigo so I think I have good reasons,” Dean said, hacking at stray branches.
“Well, I would rather take another wendigo instead of mystery monsters,” Sam said. Dean grunted in response and they continued on. About twenty minutes later, Dean was leading the group while Bobby hung back to talk to Sam.
“How are you doing, kid?” Bobby asked.
“I’m fine,” Sam said, already knowing where this was going.
“Dean mentioned you haven’t been sleeping.”
“Dean should worry about his own sleep habits,” Sam grumbled.
“Is it the visions?” Bobby asked, patient as ever.
“Partly,” Sam admitted. “I just don’t understand them. Sometimes they allow me to save the people I see in them and other times I get there and find out I was too late. What is the point of seeing the future if I can’t change it?”
“Maybe you aren’t supposed to change it,” Bobby offered, “or at least not always. Perhaps these visions of yours are to help you understand the future or even prepare you for it.” Sam looked at Bobby, his brows pulled together in confusion.
“Prepare me for what? I know death, Bobby.”
“Do you ever think that the evil you and I know isn’t the greatest out there? If ghosts and demons are as bad as it gets, Sam, then we would have been able to fix this world a long time ago. Whatever or whoever has given you these abilities, maybe they’re trying to let you know that these small deaths are just the beginning.”
“If that were true, it would be a very screwed up life lesson.”
“Things don’t happen without a reason,” Bobby said.
“I’m not sure I believe that anymore…” Sam said under his breath.
They hiked for another hour, but there was no sign of monster activity. Their EMF was negative and the only thing with teeth that they encountered was a very angry long-tailed weasel that wasn’t fond of the men stomping through its habitat.
“We’ve got nothing!” Dean exclaimed after they ascended another hill. “No tracks, no bodies, nothing. Are we sure these hikers didn’t just skip town to get away from their families? Maybe the won the lottery?”
“Never figured you for a quitter, Dean,” Bobby said, taking a swig from his water bottle.
“It’s okay to quit when there is nothing here,” Dean pointed out. “Sam, anything going on in your head?”
“If you’re asking if I had a miraculous vision of what happened to the missing people, then no Dean, no I haven’t,” Sam said with a roll of his eyes. Dean mirrored his brother’s expression.
“You could answer the question without the sarcasm,” exasperated Dean.
“Boys…” Bobby warned, ready to play mediator between the Winchester siblings.
“Not my fault he treats me like monster GPS,” Sam defended.
“That’s not true!” Dean shot back, “It’s more like you’re one of those daytime fortune-tellers from the TV, but with more accuracy.” Dean smiled smugly. Sam narrowed his eyes.
“You know what your problem is, Dean?” he asked, taking a step towards his brother.
“No, but I am sure you are about to tell me,” Dean taunted. Sam took another step, opening his mouth to yell when the ground gave way beneath his feet. Dean and Bobby lunged forward as Sam grabbed for anything to hold onto, but it was too late.
Sam shut his eyes, waiting for the impact when he hit something solid only a couple of feet down. Slowly, he opened his eyes, brushing dirt from his face. “Sam!” he heard Dean yell from above. “You okay?” Sam got to his feet, having to crouch slightly under the low ceiling of what seemed to be a dug-out cave. “Sam!” Dean repeated.
“I’m fine!” he yelled back. He would have a few bruises, but nothing worse than that. He was just happy he didn’t land on his machete.
“What’s down there?” Bobby called.
“Some kind of cave!” Sam answered. He reached out to hold the wall for balance on the uneven ground and felt something wet. Sam drew his flashlight and illuminated the space around him. He jumped back from the wall as the light revealed his hand to be covered in blood. He hastily wiped his palm on his jeans, scrubbing the blood from his skin. Sam then noticed that up ahead, the cave opened up wider. He also saw a sliver of light. He drew his phone and dialed Dean’s number, placing the call on speaker.
“What do you see?” Dean asked as soon as the call connected.
“Hold on,” Sam said. “I think I see another entrance at the end of this small tunnel.” Sam paced himself as he maneuvered through the small cave. About ten feet in, the ceiling was much taller and the sun was able to shine through in areas. Sam came across another opening in the cave wall. “Okay, there’s a hole in the Eastside, covered in branches. You guys should get down here.”
“Okay, Sam, wait for us,” Bobby said.
“It’s okay, I’ll just see what I can find,” Sam said, ignoring them.
“Sam!” Dean warned, but Sam was already ending the call. Holding his machete in one hand and his light in the other, he pushed further into the cave. Blood was splashed across the floors and while some of it looked fresh, most of it seemed as if it had been there for a while. As Sam moved closer, the air became warm and he had to pull up his shirt to cover his mouth and nose against the smell.
When he finally reached the center of the cave, the air left his lungs. He was frozen as he beheld the horrific sight before him. He didn’t know how long he stood there staring and only snapped out of his trance when he heard footsteps behind him.
“Sam?” Dean called as he approached, Bobby was at his side. At some point in his shock, Sam’s blade had fallen to the cave floor and only his flashlight remained in his tight grip. “Sam?” Dean asked again as he reached out for his brother’s shoulder that was still turned away from him. However, before Dean could make contact, Sam turned to face the other two men.
“This was not vampires,” was all that Sam said. Dean looked at Bobby who peered into the darkness, confused. Dean nudged Bobby and pointed to what looked like a small campfire near the center of the cave. Bobby drew his lighter, ignited it, and tossed into the rotting wood. As firelight filled the space, Dean and Bobby finally saw what had gotten Sam so shocked. Dean nearly gagged at the sight.
From one end of the cave to the next were human remains in different stages of decomposition. All strung up with thick bloody rope from the ceiling. Symbols were painted in blood along the walls and a devil’s trap had been inked into the floor, also in blood. It was a scene out of a horror film and one they were not prepared for.
“Dear God,” Dean said, his eyes locked on the carnage.
“God hasn’t been in this place,” Bobby said. “But I know who has.” Dean and Sam turned to see that Bobby had found multiple backpacks that had been stuffed in a crevice. Bobby removed his hat, clutching it in his fist. They would have to do a more in-depth count, but Sam figured by the number of body parts, these were, in fact, the four missing hikers that Bobby had been looking for.
“I think I’m going to be sick,” Dean muttered.
“Well, do it outside,” Bobby said, rising from his crouch by a pack, “these poor souls have been through enough already.”
“What the hell did this?” Sam asked, “Demons?”
“Not with that in here,” Bobby said, pointing to the devil’s trap. “No, this dark, very dark. I’ve seen this symbol before,” he said gesturing to the bloody symbol next to Dean. “This is dark magic from before there was even light magic. I didn’t think things like this even existed anymore. Let alone witches who practiced.”
“So this was witches then? I thought they were all about animal sacrifices and funky herbs?” Dean said, trying to read more of the symbols while keeping his eyes off the severed limbs.
“There are all kinds of witchcraft in the world, Dean. Some of it is garden spells and good fortune while others are… this is the definition of evil and interrupting the balance of nature. I’m surprised another witch hasn’t stepped in yet.”
“Would that usually happen?” Sam asked, getting his bearings back. Bobby nodded.
“Most witches are about balance, this is the exact opposite of what many believe in. The witch community is very private. Hunters don’t need to get involved as much because they handle their rogues on their own. Which makes this that much more confusing.”
“So what do we do?” Dean asked. Bobby took another look at the body parts and then took off his pack and hauled out salt and lighter fluid.
“You know the drill. Let’s put these poor souls to rest and then get the hell out of here. I imagine this witch isn’t going to be too happy that we’ve interrupted their ritual. Whatever ritual that is.” Sam and Dean got to work, salting every human remain as Bobby took the initiative and cut each one down. Once they were salted, they poured the accelerant and let the fire grow throughout the entire cavern.
The three hunters stood outside the cave’s entrance in complete silence as their makeshift funeral burned behind them. It was nearly dusk by the time the flames were just smoldering embers, leaving charred ashes in place of human bone. Bobby left the boys in the open air to make sure the fire was completely out and then they left the damned place behind them, trying to get the horrific images out of their heads.

Uhhhh can you tell me more about your incestuous morally corrupt ship????
Uuhhhhh I can’t make my brain work enough to condense them down very well but I’ll try and ramble and you can see how long you can last without clocking out babe lol
Ezra Montaigne is the youngest son of the Matriarch of the Montaigne family (currently alive characters all stem from a set of five siblings) and he is the (somewhat) calmed down version of his hellish teenage/early twenties self, desperately attention seeking as the youngest, and the ‘spare’ heir to his oldest brother who he both idolised and resented, by acting out. Highlights include sleeping with his violin teacher as she was the most attractive women at the all boys school they sent him to (but it was ok because daddy’s money paid for the abortion). Setting the schools priests quarters on fire because he was a known pedophile, and the bastard REFUSED to pay the bribe money Ezra was demanding from the pervert to keep it quiet. He’s just HELL to every body of authority to ever get in his unfortunate way.
Then something happens. Hiram, the good and true responsible groomed from birth to succeed oldest son...disappears. He leaves. With the older wife of a very very bad man who should not be crossed, and with millions and millions of his dollars. The Montaignes are blindsides. No one can find him. Not even the very very bad man...which makes this man angry, which puts the Montaignes into a very very bad situation...but I best not talk about that night he made them pay for what their son had done, what punishment they took in his place....but Ezra never forgot, and Ezra found it very very hard to forgive, and after that, drugs seemed a great way to cope with it.
Experimenting with just about EVERY drug gets him in even more trouble, but he doesn’t care anymore, because even with Hiram gone, the Hiram that betrayed them, that wasn’t their to face the consequences the bastard coward had everything and gave it all away bastard, Ezra STILL wasn’t replaced as the favourite in fathers eyes so who cared anymore? Uppers downers 8-balls and oxy are SO fun, I’m very smart and capable I COULD be just as great as Hiram was, and so much more LOYAL because I love this family more than any of the fake, money desperate ‘friends’ around me, but no, no, it won’t be good enough. Hiram ran away and now I’m all the son you’re stuck with, Think I’ll run around the world, get tattoos, throw our family name even more under the bus of social standing, because at the end of the day, our money is more powerful than what they think of us, why don’t you just let them talk, we could wipe out any countries debt at any time we please, we can fund any politician we like, we can bribe any judge any court, our money is godly.
Except when one is cut off. Which dad eventually did, after Ezra attended a ball in Vienna and got in a fight with the heir to the throne of spain, but he doesn’t know what the bastards problem was, because he only fingered his mother, he didn’t fuck her like he’d heard, it was only a miscommunication. ANYWAY. Takes to living with his dear lesbians sister Tess in her art studio as she tries to be less of an aristocrat and more a bohemian (not without all her money of course, don’t be mad). Tries to suck a dick in a club bathroom in exchange for cocaine in an opportunistic turn of events, but decides even though he wouldn’t mind being bi for the cool points, even though tragically, he is heterosexual, it was rather traumatic in a way he wishes he could supress, and also this tastes disgusting, asks the old man just to give him half because even though he couldn’t go through with it, your cock WAS in my mouth for about five seconds, that worth something? no? ok, a scene ensues, Ezra is about 6′2 btw, all of the Montaignes can be flagged at any european social gathering, they are all legs. The blow job solicitor has him thrown from the premises. Ezra decides to hunt down the mans wife. For the drama. through this old dame, he meets one of her book club (read: swingers club) pals, who is a 45 year old duchess who wants her needs met. He becomes some sort of sugar baby? Why not. She buys him ALL the drugs and he’s basically siphoning ALL of her money out of her accounts as Ezra rather has a talent for lying, manipulating and finance. He’s very fond of her. Anyway, this is getting long, drugs drugs drugs, disappointment, clinging onto being as self destructive as he can at every turn, yadda yadda, overdose number 3 happens, drama, ENOUGH IS A FUCKING NOUGH. Dad corners him, alongside dear sister, ever loving mother, favourite sympathetic uncle, cousins who are his best and only true friends, chain him to a radiator as he is shaking vomitting incoherent for the past week due to drugs, he is told he has two options, and only two. Marry this girl I have chosen for you. She is aristocratic as well, but low down on the list of eligibility, but your in a position of beggar, not chooser. Her father is almost dead, and she will inherit a small (by their fucking rich rule the world with money standards) company and fortune, use this oppertunity to show me what you can make of yourself, OR, and heres your other choice, kill yourself. Heres the gun. We’ll give you a minute with the radiator.
Ezra married the girl, it is a desperately bleak marriage. She’s not ugly but she’s not pretty either. she’s english, and whines when Ezra and his cousins speak french. She’s always whining. About the man she wanted to marry and how he left her, how her father made her have an abortion because he was just a waiter. Her suicide notes aren’t even poetic. But at least Ezra, over a long long decade, puts his actual talents and brains to work. They’re almost as useful as that devilish charisma and high propensity for risk taking, scheming, and getting what he wants, when he wants it. He’s almost, almost getting along with his father now too, though mother scolds him for stepping on the oxygen tubes too long (it’s only a joke).
but then...
Incidents happen. Hiram Montaigne, the elder brother, the prodigal son, the runaway off the grid hasn’t been seen in almost two decades son after he ran away with another mans wife with millions and millions of stolen money son....returns. Cryptically. In a phone call to their dear lesbian sister Tess. He’s drunk. It was all a mistakes. He’s so sorry. He’s convinced he’s being poisoned? he doesn’t make any sense.
But when Ezra catches wind of this call, Tess and him are very close and share almost everything (by rich white aristocratic standards) he immediately has everyone of their phones tapped and traced. Because its their brother. Because he has to get his hands on him. Because he’s their family and they love him. Because he’s always dreamed of seeing him again and beating his betraying head against a rock. Because he’s in danger and they must help. Because how dare he have the nerve to do what he did.
He traces him. Successfully. because he’s Ezra Montaigne and he gets what he wants, and he’s wanted his brother for close to twenty years.
He comes to a lake house, all the way across Europe in Denmark, isolated. Small. Hidden. Hiram isn’t home.
But Ginette is.
Pretty girl. Wide eyed at the black cars (of course Ezra brought his most trusted security) that arrived at the house that barely saw anyone besides those from the small town, over 30 minutes drive away from their home.
The man asks her if Hiram Montaigne lives here. She says he doesn’t, but he does, it’s only that his daughter has only ever known the false person he had to be after he did what he did.
Ezra takes note of her bright blue eyes, like his, and his brothers, and her long lanky legs, and then her red hair. The woman Hiram ran off with had red hair.
Ginette asks him who he may be, and Ezra replies “I think I may be your uncle.”

Episode 1: New Beginnings and Bitter Disapointments
Welcome to my brand new Sims 3 Challenge: The Amazon Challenge. Some of you might recognize my username or maybe just my style of legacy storytelling from the Iridescence Legacy, which unfortunately now has so many damn problems (corrupt save file, deleted photos from both online and off) that there’s really no salvaging it anymore. And on my last generation too - I was so convinced I was going to finally finish one, but alas, lol. Anyway, I decided to move from LJ to here because of the BS anti-LGBT TOS they’re implementing, but it was probably a good idea anyway as tumblr seems a bit more popular with the simming community nowadays :)
Anyway, let’s dive right in, shall we?
Tumblr media
Meet our Founder, Xena. Yes, I know Xena was not an Amazon but listen, I am obsessed anyway and besides, she was fucking tall enough to be one, lol. Regardless, our tribe leader Xena has a much different personality anyway, and is a brave and flirty diva who is both a perfectionist and athletic. Her LTW is Perfect Mind, Perfect Body.
Tumblr media
Oh yes, and she is also a werewolf, and the tattoo on her back is representative of her royal bloodline and position as the head of the pack tribe. As such, a heiress must also be a werewolf that has the most ‘approved’ traits listed on the challenge. That means someone who might become heiress can also be knocked from their rank by a younger sibling that is more worthy than the previous.
But moving on, no tribe would be complete without at least one male slave to do all of the dirty work so our Warrior Princess Queen never has to lift a finger to do literally anything, lol.
Tumblr media
Xena: Hello, I am interested in speaking to your owner. Is she around?
Tumblr media
Thornton: I’m sorry... my what? Xena: Oh, nevermind. I don’t know why I bother to speak to the help anyway, you all end up having a lower IQ than a bloody moth.
Tumblr media
Xena: Hello, I am interested in procuring your male servant for the purposes of furthering the betterment of my Amazonian Tribe.  Morgana: You... mean my husband? Xena: If that’s what you kids call slaves now a days, sure.
Tumblr media
Morgana: Wait, so you mean to tell me that you would take my annoying husband off my hands and leave me with his immense fortune? Yeah, yeah... I can picture that happening.
Tumblr media
Morgana: Yup, actually that sounds absolutely perfect. Have at it, and tell him to not bother saying goodbye because he was nothing more than a sugar daddy anyway. Xena: Lovely. Pleasure doing business with you.
Tumblr media
Xena: Alright, Daor, now that I’ve shaved those awful sideburns off your face and put you in an outfit more fit for a slave, I now require you to build me an abode. Get to it! Daor: Wait, what? Daor? My name is-- Xena: I’m sorry, did I stutter? I’ll call you whatever I damn well please, now do what I say before I decide you’re not worth my effort and procure a different slave!
Tumblr media
Don’t get too attached to this shit - I end up moving them to a different town eventually since originally I wanted them in isla paradiso but my game was acting weird. I eventually fixed the issue though, but we’ll get to that later.
Tumblr media
Since I don’t allow my Tribe Leader to work because honestly, a Queen should never have to work a day in their lives lmao, and since slaves can’t work either, they’re pretty effing poor and I make Daor collect shit on the regular just so they can make a little bit of money, haha.
Tumblr media
He seems to enjoy it though. Ah, the simple pleasures in life.
Tumblr media
Xena found a friend as well! I decided he is now the tribe’s mascot and named him Guapo, lol.
Tumblr media
Daor is working on his gardening skills as well because, again, they are poor as fucking dirt.
Tumblr media
He also fishes, but he kinda sucks at it. I mean honestly, how is that tiny thing supposed to feed anyone? Ugh. Men.
Anyway, an Amazonian Tribe isn’t complete without more women, so I sent Xena out to scour the town for their first recruit, who ended up being easily impressed, a natural cook, ambitious, and a daredevil who had commitment issues.
Tumblr media
Xena: Hello there, you look utterly helpless and in need of a direction in life. May I interest you in joining my Amazonian tribe? Lesbianism is not required but heavily encouraged - just not with me because let’s face it, I’m way out of your league right now it’s not even funny.
Tumblr media
Random Woman: Oh wow, I’m super flattered; I’ve never been a lesbian before! By the way, my name is– Xena: Why do people keep trying to tell me their names? No, I don’t care. Your name is Euryleia now. Learn to love it, because I don’t have time to listen to incessant whining over tribal names.
Tumblr media
Xena: By the way, you’re going to have fix... all of that if you ever plan to move up in rank. We are vain by nature, or maybe I’m just a superficial bitch by nature, but either way. You’re going to have to go get yourself a job though, because we can’t afford your damn gym membership right now.
Tumblr media
Euryleia: I will go get a job right away then, Mistress! Xena: Good. I like people who can take direction. Also people who call me mistress. That will be allowed to continue, by the way.
Tumblr media
So Euryleia went out and got herself a part time job, as that is all that is allowed at her rank. The money is still shit, but at least it’s better than nothing.
Tumblr media
He is literally the worst slave ever, lol.
Tumblr media
As punishment for burning the food, I made a starving Daor stand way in the back and watch everyone else eat the food that he finally managed to make halfway decent.
Xena: You know what would be better than this place? An island.  Euryleia: I agr-- Xena: I’m sorry, did I say I was asking for opinions? I’m just musing right now, so eat your food and stay silent.
Tumblr media
I took pity on Daor and let him eat a mushroom, even though he looks like he’s trying to smoke it, haha.
Tumblr media
The next day the two Amazons hit the gym so Xena could work on her LTW and  Euryleia could attempt to lose a little bit of weight so she could move up in rank at some point.
Tumblr media
Xena: Oh stop whining, it’s not that difficult! Euryleia: But Mistress, my legs are not cooperating!
Tumblr media
Who the fuck just leaves their newborn baby on the floor of the gym?
Xena: Actually, that’s not a bad id--
No, that is not how you’re going to get rid of your male children. Hush.
Tumblr media
GUYS GUYS IT LOOKS LIKE ARGO! (people who have never seen xena are probably like wtf are you on about but trust me this is awesome, lol)
Tumblr media
Xena: So I’ve been thinking about moving somewhere with some sun 24/7. Thoughts?
Tumblr media
Euryleia: Oh yes, Mistress, I adore sun!
Tumblr media
Xena: Good, cause honestly the thought of having to buy you all outerwear so you can survive the winter didn’t sound like a fun idea to me. We leave in the morning.
Tumblr media
Yeah, I put a lot more effort into this lot. I won’t show you the insides of the houses though, as I totally prioritized the outside over the inside right now, lol. Everything is pretty bare and minimal.
Tumblr media
Guapo finally got a cage though!
Tumblr media
And Daor gets... a tent. Lmao.
Tumblr media
Xena: I have to say, Euryleia, I commend you on your progress. You have lost a significant amount of weight and as I am a vain asshole, this is something I care greatly about because I only give a shit about people’s appearances and not who they are on the inside.
Tumblr media
Euryleia: Oh thank you, Mistress, I am flattered! Does that mean you might consider me as a potential mate or, better yet, an occasional fuck buddy because commitment is for old people and religious folk? Xena: ...Don’t push it.
Tumblr media
DAOR HOW ARE YOU THIS FUCKING USELESS JFC
Tumblr media
At least Xena’s brave enough to put it out.
Xena: That’s right, I’m just your everyday hero. With fantastic guns.
Tumblr media
Xena: I am so sick of you! One more misstep and I will drown you in the sacrificial well! Daor: But... we don’t have a sacrificial well. Xena: I. Will. Build. One. Daor: *gulps*
If we could ever afford it, anyway.
Moving on though, another thing that a tribe needs is heirs, and for that we need a disposable piece of man meat.
Tumblr media
Xena: You look like you have decent enough genes, how would you feel about a one night stand to get me pregnant with a female heiress for my Amazon tribe that you would have zero commitment in raising?
Tumblr media
Harley: No strings attached sex? I’m in!
Tumblr media
Xena: Good, I like men that are compliant. Meet me at your house in an hour.
Tumblr media
Lol this house screams dude bro.
Tumblr media
After their rough and tumble in bed, I sent Xena off to hunt as a werewolf because honestly, they’re still poor as hell and need stuff to sell, lol.
Tumblr media
She didn’t find anything though, so I decided maybe the scuba skill might help. However somethings weird with my game and I realized that even with a high enough skill she can’t go actual scuba diving as all my community lots just say ‘community lots’ without names for some reason? If anyone knows how to fix it, help would be appreciated. Also some of the unoccupied houses say community lots too. Idk wtf is up but I’m sure its some kind of mod conflict *sigh*
Tumblr media
...Appetizing. On the plus side though, a baby is on the horizon!
Tumblr media
Euryleia: Oh Mistress, our first tribe daughter, I’m so excited! I’ll start preparing right away for her birth!
Tumblr media
Euryleia desperately needs to move up in rank, so I sent her to the library to learn some skills so she could end up being a Provider instead.
Tumblr media
Euryleia: Mistress! Since you and I are now friendly and I have enough skills and the personality to become a Provider for this noble tribe, I was wondering if you could promote me? If you do, I’ll be sure to get a career ASAP so we can start making some real money in preparation for the baby!
Tumblr media
Xena: ‘Money’ is the magic word, Euryleia. You have my permission.
Tumblr media
So Euryleia went downtown and got herself a job in the Culinary Career, since Daor sucks at making food anyway so it’d be good they got someone else to do that chore, lmao.
Tumblr media
Xena: Good lord, it feels like my insides are being torn to shreds!
Tumblr media
Xena: Wtf? This isn’t what I ordered!
How disappointing, lol. This is Aeolus though, and his traits are easily impressed and excitable. Don’t get too attached.
Tumblr media
Xena: Harley? Get the fuck down here, we have a problem. Also bring some tools; I’m going to need you to help my slave build a sacrificial well.
Tumblr media
Euryleia: Mistress, I know you aren’t fond of boys, but maybe we shouldn’t... you know, kill it? It’s still a baby, after all. And Harley still has decent genes, so maybe you should give him another chance? You could still get a beautiful girl out of him and if you don’t...
Tumblr media
Xena: If I don’t, then I kill them! Euryleia: I meant maybe you could just banish all of them from the tribe, but I of course will not argue with your judgement, oh divine one.
Tumblr media
Xena: That’s right, I am your God. Worship me.
Tumblr media
Xena: Alright look, you fucked up. You fucked up royally. BUT you still have decent genes, so I’m going to give you another chance to give me a baby girl.
Tumblr media
Xena: Because if you do not, I will drown you in the sacrificial well I will soon have built and all your sons go into slavery. Understood?
Tumblr media
Harley: But... what happened to no strings attached? Xena: That was if you managed to give me a girl, which you did not. Now, you are in charge of that disgusting thing inside and will live here as a slave until I bear my next child. If it’s a girl, you and your son go free. If not... well, I already covered that.
Tumblr media
Xena: Now, get the fuck inside and impregnate me the proper way before my patience runs out.
Tumblr media
Will their next child be a girl, or will Harley’s lifespan be shorter than expected? Stay tuned to find out!

Ties in Blood Chapter 11

Chapter 11
Aaliyah kept watch on the house from the backseat of the Impala. She could see Monica and her husband through the open window.
“Maybe we can tell ‘em there’s a gas leak,” Sam suggested. “Might get ‘em out of the house for a few hours.”
“Yeah, and how many times has that worked for us?” Dean pointed out.
“We could tell ‘em the truth,” Aaliyah spoke up. She looked over to the boys, who had turned their heads over the back of the front seat. Dean raised an eyebrow at her. “Nah,” she spoke right along with the brothers. “Yeah, I know. But from what’s going to happen with them…” Aaliyah gestured toward the house.
“You know we’ve got one move,” Dean told her. “Gotta wait for the demon to show itself, then we get it before it gets them.”
Aaliyah nodded as she turned her attention back to the house as Sam wondered out loud how John was doing. Dean voiced how he would feel better backing him up while Sam voiced the reverse feeling; John there backing them up.
“This is weird,” Sam spoke up after a while.
“What?” Aaliyah asked.
“After all these years, we’re finally here. It doesn’t feel real.”
“We just gotta keep our heads and do our jobs,” Dean told him. “Like always.”
“Yeah, but this isn’t always,” Sam countered.
“True.”
“Dean,” Sam trailed off. “I want to say thanks.”
“For what?”
“Everything. You’ve always had my back, you know,” Sam said. “Even when I couldn’t count on anyone, I could with you. I don’t know. I just wanted you to know. Just in case.”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa,” Dean pulled the reins back. “Are you kidding me?”
“What?”
“Don’t say just in case something happens to you,” Dean told his brother. “I don’t want to hear that speech, man. Nobody’s dying tonight. Not us, not that family.” Dean gestured toward the house. “Nobody. Except that demon. That evil son of a bitch ain’t getting older than tonight, you understand me?”
Aaliyah felt her mouth pull in a little smirk. There was something about the sheer determination from Dean that no one was going to die on their watch. She shifted in the back seat, turning to face the door with one leg tucked under her with the other knee at her chest. The sounds of Dean pulling out his cell and making a call drifted back to her.
“He’s not picking up,” he announced.
“Maybe Meg was late,” Aaliyah suggested. “Or the reception’s bad.”
“Yeah, well…”
The radio that had been playing low for background noise starting going static.
“Guys, listen,” Aaliyah brought their attention to the radio.
Sam reached out and turned the radio up, the static going higher as it came and went.
Aaliyah glanced around out the windows as the wind picked up as the house light flickered.
“It’s coming,” Sam announced.
Aaliyah didn’t hold back as she opened her door and charged for the house. Dean’s voice shouted after her to wait. She slowed coming up to the front door as Dean came up beside her and worked the lock with a card. He motioned Sam through first before allowing Aaliyah to follow so he took up the rear.
With the house dark and quiet, Aaliyah moved into the living room, doing her best to have light footsteps. Stepping around a corner, she barely caught a motion out of the corner of her eye before ducking a bat. It came back around as Dean stepped in between Aaliyah and the one swinging.
“Get out of my house,” a man shouted.
“Please, Mr. Holden,” Sam cut in.
Dean gained control against Holden, pinning him against a wall with the bat against his throat. “Be quiet and listen,” he told him in a sharp tone. “Be quiet and listen. We are trying to help you.”
“Charlie?” a woman’s voice called from upstairs. “Is everything okay?”
Aaliyah caught Sam’s panicked expression and darted for the stairs even as both he and Charlie yelled at Monica. One telling her to stay out of the nursery and the other to get the baby. Charlie yelled after Aaliyah to keep away from Monica while he fought to free himself from Dean’s hold.
Aaliyah stopped in the nursery door just as Monica was flung against a wall by a dark figure. She caught the eyes of the figure; yellow eyes. Aaliyah sensed a presence behind her and fought against flinching as a gun shot went off. The figure disappeared even before the blast ended. All the while, Monica was yelling about Rosie. Aaliyah darted over to the crib even as Sam helped Monica to her feet. Aaliyah reached down and picked up Rosie, wrapping the blankets around her just before the crib engulfed in flame. She jumped back from the crib before racing from the room after Sam and Monica.
Aaliyah stumbled out the front door, holding Rosie to her chest even as her lungs burned from the smoke. A few tears streamed down her cheeks from her smoke irritated eyes.
“Get away from my family,” Charlie yelled, being held back by Dean.
“Charlie, wait,” Monica requested. “They saved us.”
Aaliyah handed Rosie over to Monica as she started crying. Aaliyah joined the brothers as Charlie took his wife and daughter in his arms. Her attention drifted with theirs up to the nursery where the demon stood still with the room burning around it. Someone bumped into her in their effort to return to the house.
“Sam? Sam, no,” Dean protested, grabbing hold of his arm.
“It’s still in there, Dean,” Sam argue.
“It’s burning to the ground,” Aaliyah pointed out. “It’s suicide.”
“I don’t care,” Sam yelled at her.
“I do,” Dean yelled at him.
Aaliyah looked back up to the nursery window and watched the flames rise higher and the demon disappear. “Come on, guys,” her voice low enough it surprised her. “Let’s get back to the motel.”
***
Aaliyah sniffed her jacket, still smelling the smoke from the house. Better than dealing with the dirt and grim from dealing with the vampire nest. She tried to ignore Dean’s pacing in his nervous state in trying to call John.
“Come on, Dad,” he said out loud. “Damn it, answer your phone.” He hung up. “Something’s wrong.”
Aaliyah shifted her eyes over to Sam to see him giving his brother a bitch face.
“If you had just let me go in there,” Sam spoke up. “I coulda ended this.”
“The only thing that would have ended was your life,” Dean pointed out.
“You don’t know that.”
Dean crossed over to the bed. “So, you’re willing to sacrifice yourself, is that it?”
Sam pushed himself to his feet. “Yeah, You’re damn right I am.”
“Well, that’s not going to happen,” Dean put his foot down. “Not when I’m around.”
“What the hell are you talking about Dean?” Sam asked. “We’ve been hunting this demon our whole lives. It’s the only thing we cared about.”
“I wanna waste it, Sam, I really do,” Dean agreed. “Okay? But it’s not worth dying over.”
“What?”
Aaliyah heard Sam’s face frown and hurt in his voice. Maybe she had been spending too much time with the brothers in the past few days. Has it been days? Or the better part of a week?
“I mean it,” Dean continued. “If hunting this demon means getting yourself killed, I hope we never find the damn thing.”
“That thing killed Jess. And Mom.”
“No matter what we do,” Aaliyah decided to cut in. “What you guys do, it won’t bring them back.”
Sam tilted his head as he looked at Aaliyah before he lunged at her, just out of Dean’s grasp.
Aaliyah pivoted around trying to avoid Sam’s attack. She circled around him, fists up in a defensive posture.
He recovered from the charge as he turned around to face her. “You have no right to say that,” he yelled. “Even if you did, don’t you ever say it. After all that Dean and I have been through. You don’t know what it’s like growing up without parents.”
“Oh, I don’t know the feeling?” Aaliyah yelled back, still holding her defensive posture. “My mom was killed by a Djinn. My dad was barely at home between his actual paying job and hunting. You think you’re the only one to not have parents growing up? Or having an older brother playing care giver? Join the damn club.”
“Sam, look.” Dean’s voice was calm as he attempted to pull his brother’s attention from Aaliyah. “The three … four of us … we’re all we have. All I have. Sometimes I feel like I’m barely holding it together. Without you … or Dad…”
“He should have called by now,” Aaliyah pointed out. She lowered her hands, feeling safe enough that Sam wouldn’t charge her again. She fought back her tears even as Sam cried.
“Try calling him again,” Sam suggested even as Dean put his phone to his ear.
Dean started pacing for a minute before stopping. “Where is he?” Anger dripped in his voice. He hung up the phone. “They got him.
“Meg?” Sam questioned with a nod from Dean. “What’d she say?”
“What do we do now?” Aaliyah asked even as Dean gathered up his stuff, including the Colt.
“We gotta go,” Dean answered.
“Why?” Sam asked.
“Because the demon knows we’re here,” Dean snapped. “It knows we got the Colt. It got Dad. And it’s probably coming for us next.”
“Good, let it come.” Sam settled into his decision. “We got three bullets left.”
“Listen, tough guy, we’re not ready. Okay?” Dean finished grabbing all his things.
Aaliyah shoved the last of her clothes in a bag and double checked her gear bag. Everything was set and she closed both bags.
“We’re no good to anyone dead,” Dean spoke. “We’re leaving. Now.”
***
Aaliyah braced herself as Dean took a corner sideways. Sam was still going on about taking the demon back at the house.
“What we need is a plan,” Dean countered. “They’re probably keeping Dad alive, we just gotta figure out where. They’re gonna want to make a trade; Dad for the gun.”
“Then why didn’t Meg mention making a deal?” Aaliyah brought up, leaning forward just enough over the front seat.
Sam shook her head.
“What?” Aaliyah looked at him.
“What if he’s…”
“Don’t you say it,” Dean demanded.
“I don’t want to believe it anymore than you do,” Sam countered. “But if he is, all the more reason to kill it. We still have the Colt, we can finish the job.”
“Screw the job, Sam,” Dean argued.
“I’m just trying to do what he’d want us to do. Keep going.”
“Quit talking like he’s already dead,” Dean’s voice dripping with anger. “Until we get him back, everything stops, you understand?”
With the exception of the car’s engine, it was quiet. The little voice in Aaliyah’s head started working at her. Some help she was, it told her. She proved to be less helpful than bug spray in the dead of winter in the Midwest. John happened to find them and questioned her presence every step of the way. Hell, she even argued for her being there when he wanted her gone and safe.
“So, how do we find him?” Sam asked, breaking the silence.
“Maybe we go to Lincoln,” Dean suggested. “Start at the warehouse he was taken.”
“Come on, Dean. You think these demons are going to leave a trail?” Sam pointed out.
Dean’s lips pressed together in thought. “You’re right. We need help.”
***
Aaliyah stretched as the Impala turned off the road and onto a long dirt drive. The nearly five hour drive from Salvation to Sioux Falls was enough time for a nap. “You know, I think I’m getting used to working off of four hours of sleep.”
“That’s good, cuz we’re here,” Dean tossed over his shoulder.
“And where’s that?” Aaliyah looked at the window as they pass by junk cars piled high on top of each other. She caught sight of a sign high enough to catch attention from passers-by that read “Singer’s auto salvage”.
“Singer?”
“Bobby Singer,” Sam said. “Good friend of Dad’s. Bobby’s like a father to us.”
Dean parked the car and climbed out.
Aaliyah stumbled out from the back and worked her body free of the kinks and get her blood flowing. “Think he’ll help?” She followed after the boys on the way into the house, stopping long enough to let the dog laying on the hood of a truck and chained up sniff her.
Inside, she hung in the threshold of the kitchen while the boys hugged an older man who couldn’t be much older than John before the man turned his attention to her.
“This must be Aaliyah,” he said. “So, the boys dragged you into this wild demon hunt of theirs?” He turned back into the kitchen and led the way further into the house.
“In a way.” Aaliyah followed after even as Sam took a seat at the desk that seemed to be the focal point of the living room. Over the walls were papers pinned up and piles of books on the floor and a few bookshelves. “Dean called in a favor from a couple years ago.”
“Uh huh. Well then, how much do you know of lore?”
“Werewolves are a pain in the ass to kill, but have a major weakness to silver,” Aaliyah recalled from her first hunt. “Usual fatal wounds take ‘em out as well as taking the head off.”
“She took out her first one with a silver knife to the stomach,” Dean praised her. “Cut it al the way up to the rib cage.”
“And you survived?” Bobby looked to Aaliyah, shock in his voice.
“Gave me a couple sets of scars to remember it by.” Aaliyah watched Bobby walk over and hand Sam a book and opened to a page.
“How’s your paint job?” Bobby asked.
“There’s a first time for everything,” Aaliyah told him. “What needs painting?” She walked over to the desk and looked at the picture Bobby pointed to.
“That, on the ceiling,” he told her. “From the sounds of this demon, it won’t be easy to fool it.”
Aaliyah looked at the picture, up to the ceiling, then back to the picture. “Alright, then. Where’s the paint and brush? And a ladder.”
After a short time gathering the needed items, Aaliyah went to work on painting the Key of Solomon on the ceiling. Bobby would come over and look up to inspect her work, occasionally reminding her to make sure everything was right; otherwise the demon would be able to escape. Painting the Key took longer than she expected, but Aaliyah finished up and climbed down from the ladder.
“Not bad, kid,” Bobby complimented.
“Thanks.” Aaliyah took the ladder and paint items outside against the side of the house.
She took a deep breath, steadying herself as she thought back to when Dean called her. Had it really been days since that day at the hospital? Aaliyah couldn’t think back all that time on … how much sleep had she gotten since she left the hospital with the boys? Two at the motel before the 911 call that John picked up, maybe half hour naps in the Impala when they were all down in Iowa, four the night before leaving, plus five on the way to Bobby’s. Aaliyah had more sleep at the hospital in one week than the past few days. She’d have to make time for a day or two to herself before going off to find a paying job. She walked back inside just as Bobby handed Dean a flask and kept another.
“That’s holy water,” Bobby answered Dean. “This is whiskey.”
“Thanks for everything, Bobby,” Dean told him. “To tell you the truth, I wasn’t sure we should come.”
“Nonsense, your Dad needs help.”
“Yeah, well, last time we saw you, you did threaten to shoot him full of buckshot,” Dean pointed out. “Cocked the shotgun and everything.”
“He really did that?” Aaliyah asked, mildly surprised at the tale.
“What can I say.” Bobby shrugged. “John has that effect on people. None of that matters, though. What does is you getting him back.”
Dean handed the whiskey filled flask over to Aaliyah as Sam commented on the book he had be studying. She accepted the flask and took a sip of it, coughing from the burn of the whiskey.
“Yeah, it’s a bit of an acquired taste,” Dean said, a tease of a smile on his face.
“You think these circles really work?” Sam’s voice drifted into the kitchen.
“Hell yeah,” Bobby answered. “You get a demon in it, they’re trapped. It’s like a demonic roach motel.”
Aaliyah chuckled. “Man knows his stuff.”
“I’ll tell you three something else,” Bobby told them. “This is some serious crap you all stepped in.”
“Oh, yeah?” Sam asked. “How’s that?”
“Normal year, I hear of, say, three demonic possessions. Four tops.”
“Yeah?” Dean prompted.
“This year so far, I’ve heard of twenty seven.”
Aaliyah let out a low whistle at the number.
“You get what I’m saying?” Bobby continued. “More and more demons are walking among us. A lot more.”
“Do you know why?” Sam asked.
“No, but I know it’s something big,” Bobby answered. “The storm’s coming. And you boys, your Dad, even you Aaliyah. You’re all smack in the middle of it.”
Aaliyah half jumped when the dog started barking outside.
“Rumsfeld,” Bobby called out. He rushed over to the window and looked out before turning back to the three young hunters. “Something’s wrong.”
Aaliyah moved for the kitchen when the door flew into the house. She stopped on a dime when Meg stepped inside.
“No more crap, okay?” the demon asked.
Aaliyah felt a hand guide her out of the way before seeing Dean charge Meg. Aaliyah moved in front of Meg when she flung Dean into a wall.
“Isn’t this cute?” Meg said with a smile and a head tilt. She started walking toward Aaliyah, who walked back into the living room. “Wait. Weren’t you the little brat who decided to go digging after her father? Did you learn anything?”
“Yeah, how to stay alive.”
“Until today. I want the Colt, kid. The real one.”
“We don’t have it,” Sam cut in. “We buried it.”
“Didn’t I say no more crap? I swear, after all that I heard about the Winchesters, I’m a little underwhelmed.” Meg straightened her head. “First Johnny tries to pawn off a fake gun, leaving the real one with you chuckleheads. Lack luster, really. Did you really think I wouldn’t find you?”
“Actually,” Dean’s voice called out. “We were counting on it.”
Aaliyah pointed to the ceiling, taking Meg’s attention from her to the Key of Solomon above them. “Gotcha.”
