As requested, my Stranger Things season 4 thoughts. Spoilers, obviously.

Overall, I think it’s pretty awesome and the strongest season since the first, but there’s some worrying things plus a bit that I’m really peeved about.

The Good:

I’m digging the longer episodes. I normally hate over an hour (Thank you, ADHD) but I’ve been desperate for content for so long, that it’s just been glorious. The finale is supposed to be over two hours, though. That might be a bit rough.

I was worried they were going to try to redeem Brenner or retcon that he’s always been disgusting but I think I like the direction it’s going. I do hope they reveal how he survived though.

Every time El called Hopper “my dad” added a year to my life. Millie continues to knock it out of the park.

El, Jonathan, and Will being sibs. My heart is full. I hereby dub the Hopper/Byers clan as The Hyers family.

Dr. Owens is back! I adore Paul Reiser. I like that he’s a dash more morally gray than most of our protagonists but is ultimately still very decent. The way he tracked down El was straight up epic.

Argyle is funny as fuck but also a pure soul. I was a little apprehensive about “Jonathan becomes a stoner” but I think they’re pulling it off well. I definitely get why he’s stressed and depressed. Not being able to count on Hopper to step it up while Jonathan went off to school is not something I considered. Also, super different for Charlie acting wise and he’s nailing it.

I adored Chrissy! I love that she wasn’t some bitchy Barbie but super sweet and just a little bit goofy. The poor angel never had a chance.

Gah, those absolute badass agents trying to protect El and the Byer Boys. 😭

Suzie’s family being complete Cheaper by the Dozen chaos was unexpected yet so fitting. Plus comedy gold. “I will repent later.”

So happy to see Powell and Callahan again.

Steve’s face is still intact. Please keep it that way. That shit is so, so old and tired.

Everyone screaming “DRIVE” in unison gets me every time. Probably fav running gag.

The satanic panic stuff is good. I like that Jason has a sympathetic streak and believes his intentions are good. It makes him more interesting and makes it easier to get why others join him.

In general, I liked seeing that the jocks weren’t all just brainless meatheads and/or bullies. Bonus points for them always wearing their monogrammed jackets so I can remember their names! 🤣

I’ve been waiting a long time for all the parents to get together and realize their kids have been lying their asses off for years. I always imagined Joyce being there and awkwardly trying to explain while not actually explaining. But Erica was a good alternative.

And oh, Erica. Still hilarious, to no one’s surprise. I just love that she’s not the typical “precocious girl” archetype. She likes math, politics/current events, instead of being a bookworm or a techie and confident and outspoken and not a wallflower.

Her shutting down Jason and threatening Lucas with whatever is under his bed slayed me. “The whole couch is on fire” is my new way of saying “that’s bullshit.”

Joyce and Murray. I’m enjoying their dynamic and their adventure. A good, blend of mystery, suspense, action, and some charming zaniness. Murray as Yuri. My sides.

Yes, some of “Hopper the zek” stuff was a bit slow but they payoffs with his first escape and fighting the demogorgon were incredible. Not even getting into to his reunion with Joyce. Just. So. Precious and perfect.

Also, love Tom Wlaschiha since his Jaqen days. How many languages does that dude speak?? I’ll be so sad if he doesn’t get back to his little boy! They already got Alexei! They can’t have Dmitri, too!

Eddie was kinda cringe at first in the cafeteria scene and seemed like the new Billy but dang, did that turn around. I loved him in the woods with Chrissy and he’s only gotten better. I’m so here for the way he’s just an unapologetic weirdo instead of The Cool Guy or the Bastard.

Robin in Nancy’s clothes. I feel so seen. My sister would put me through that crap all the time when I was little.

Also thought it was nice that the hospital director admired Robin’s passion.

I’m liking Robin and Nancy being friends. It felt a lil forced at first but their field trip was everything I never knew I needed. Also, it’s nice we’re getting to see different characters interacting more.

The new cast/cameos/homages are delightful. ‘Specially Freddie Krueger as Victor Creel. Loved the initial Hannibal Lector vibe of the scene.

I am cautiously putting Mike and El here because they are long overdue to have some issues. But I hope things resolve between them because their relationship is a central part of the series to me.

Max writing a goodbye note for Steve. I don’t know why but I think that’s so adorable. I guess ‘cause it means he does hang out with the kids (besides Dustin) when the world isn’t in danger and he’s absolutely the big bro she deserves.

I straight up lost it when Dustin told Steve he was missing his collarbones but not his eyes. 🤣.

Hopper’s cabin getting a cameo.

I’ve started watching a second time (tagging along for my parents first viewing) and the foreshadowing is damn good.

It is so poignant that Will’s project was on Alan Turing. A gem of an Easter egg, for sure.

I thought we’d get a quick visit from Billy/Dacre and it was well done. I’m glad it wasn’t a flashback because there wouldn’t have been a good way to do it, imo. A happy memory would feel like romanticized bullshit and we didn’t need any more unhappy ones.

I saw some people complaining that Max mourned him at all but he was her brother. And despite being a colossal asshole, he did choose to die as a human being instead of “living” as a monster. There’s nothing wrong or unrealistic about how Max feels right now.

I cackled like a freaking loon when Lucas said, “when did Steve get so hairy?” Because I said the exact same thing the other day when rewatching season 3. For the first time, I noticed quite a bit of hair trying escape that Scoops Ahoy uniform and was a little shocked. 😂

On a more serious note, I always feel better seeing actors allowed to have body hair. Waxing is, like, borderline inhumane and since I’m not from the Capitol in The Hunger Games, people suffering for others’ entertainment makes me super uncomfortable.

The symmetry/parallels or whatever with Hopper and Brenner with El.

The Creel house. The first proper journey to the Upside Down (get them hazmat suits stat!) and their escape. Creepy, trippy, weird, and fascinating.

Max. Lucas. Need I say more? Prolly not, but I’m gonna: I think they’ve been the MVPs so far this season. Their separate storylines have been amazing but together? My heart!!! They might be promoted to OTP. What I initially liked about these two is they were so normal and lighthearted compared to Mike/El and Jonathan/Nancy. But this storyline has been so incredibly, believably, gorgeously told with stellar performances by Sadie and Caleb. The end of Dear Billy in particular is so, so beautiful. I hoped Running Up that Hill would feature this season and to actually have it be a plot point… 🥹 I listened to my favorite cover by First Aid Kit this morning and had a good cry.

I want to be pissed about how retcony the other numbers feel— Kali/Eight in season 2 definitely implied Brenner collected the kids from all over the world/they all had very different powers. But it’s done so well, I’m giving it a pass. I kinda dig that El is a middle child. Makes it feel different from “aha, the chosen one at last!” trope.

Vecna is a refreshing change of pace. I actually wish he was the Mind Flayer’s boss/the ultimate big bad. I think having him once be human makes him scarier and eviler. But I dunno, maybe they ARE all one thing he created? They’re building up to Dustin being wrong about something, I think. Which brings me to—

Holy shit, One. I don’t think I need to say more. I connected certain dots separately but not all of them together, if you get what I mean. Loved it. Plus, Jamie Campbell Bower is always good value.

The Bad

I’m disappointed with El thinking she’s a monster again. I think the bullying resurfacing some repressed memories was pretty good but... the storyline feels… kinda late? Especially since it’s a season long arc. I’d have liked it better if they told her straight off she wasn’t the one behind the attack. It’d be more interesting to me if her journey was about her learning to see past her mistakes and discovering why she’s heroic.

My boy Doc Owens not warning El that she was about to be reunited with assface. Dude, come on. Wtf. Redeemed himself some by chewing him out.

Will’s technically catching a break so far this season, which actually highlights how hellish his life has been. Obviously he wasn’t as close to Hopper as El was, but Hopper was also his (step)dad— Owens even acted like Hopper and Joyce were both Will’s parents in ST2– then he got dragged away from his home/friends; helplessly watched his sister suffer; his brother is becoming unrecognizable; he has a thing for his BFF, which is already complicated and painful enough without the fact that said BFF is also his sister’s boyfriend.😭 But hey, seven episodes in a row without a monster trying to eat him!

I totally get Robin changing a tad this season from being more comfortable/less guarded because of Steve. But here and there she seemed jarringly different (like how she’s suddenly no longer capable of “playing it cool”) and a few of her comic relief lines fell flat (the compass, earthquakes, attic.). It’s obvious she’s only here because we like her. Which brings me to…

I am starting to get nervous about how far things are starting to tilt towards fan service. Elements of it have been present since season two but alarm bells are ringing for me. I’d hate for this show to go the Glee route— pandering to (usually toxic) shippers, not wanting to change “the winning formula” which lets characters/situations get stale, etc. Sigh. At least we’re close to the end.

I don’t mind Jonathan and Nancy having problems, in fact, I’d probably find it ridiculous if they didn’t. But why THIS way? I loved in season 3 that they had real discussions, even about the ugly stuff. They hashed things out, opened up each other’s minds. I went from “yeah, they’re pretty cute” to “Hell, yeah, I ship it!”

It sucked to see that all go out the window. Obviously, they’re still kids, so I wasn’t expecting anything super mature. But both of them avoiding/ignoring their problems felt lazy. At the very least, why couldn’t they have been taking a break? Which brings me to—

The Ugly

Steve and Nance having romantic tension again. Barf.

I was somewhat prepared— that weirdly intimate scene in the trailer combined with the complete lack of a potential love interest for Steve among all the new characters. But still. Just… why.

I see some bearable avenues they can take with this but I don’t think it’s necessary and it makes Nancy look awful: Like a serial cheater or that she only wants what she doesn’t have and like still doesn’t grasp how shitty Jonathan’s situation is. She grew up so much, especially last season, and they’re just… pissing all over it??

It’s a little easier to swallow on Steve’s end but I felt like he also really regressed in the early episodes— still so desperate for female attention and just doing the dating equivalent of “throwing it all at the wall and see what sticks.” If they had to have him make heart eyes at Nancy again, then he should’ve still had girls treating him like a townie loser who peaked in high school.

I thought Dustin cheerleading R/S when he barely knew Robin was juvenile writing but at least Dustin was young. Robin practically encouraging Nancy to cheat? Ew. Eddie, who’s probably 20 as a third time senior, declaring what is “true love” between two perfect strangers?

Holy fuck, if it’s not intentionally paralleling Dustin being “ wrong” about Steve and Robin then it is so painfully amateurish that I do not have words. Only Murray can get a pass on that kinda thing because he’s been established as borderline clairvoyant from early on.

Also, a couple of the effects aren’t on par with most of them. One’s transformation and the demobat battle were silly looking. Normally I’m very forgiving of tv show budgets but with how great everything else looked, it was a bit jarring.

TL;DR most of it is awesome, with Max, Lucas, and Lumax being the best. But I fear they’re relying too heavily on fan service and I’m scared it could be the show’s downfall. Also, my tolerance for bullshit love triangles was obliterated about a decade ago.

Stranger Things 4 Spoiler Compilation

WARNING!!! This post will contain many spoilers and leaks for Stranger Things season 4! If you want to have the best experience when the new season comes out I recommend that you try to avoid as many spoilers as possible. I will be getting much of my information on here from social media platforms, websites, cast interviews, etc.. Please note that some of this information probably isn’t true, but I’m putting it on here just in case it is.

This post will be split into multiple sections. Confirmed Information, Plot leaks, New characters, Casting calls, Set photos and filming locations/dates, Cast interviews, Theories, and maybe a few other sections.

CONFIRMED INFORMATION / TRAILERS

Stranger Things was renewed for season 4 on September 2019 in this official announcement video. The end of the video says “We’re not in Hawkins anymore.” This is most likely because the Byers family has moved out of Hawkins and the fact that we will be seeing quite a few scenes take place in Russia this season. This doesn’t mean that Hawkins will be forgotten though, as most of the main characters still live there.

On Stranger Things Day 2019, the Stranger Things social media accounts confirmed that they had finished writing episode 1 of season 4, and that it would be called “The Hellfire Club.” Later on in June 2020, the Stranger Writers twitter account confirmed that they had finished writing every episode of season 4. The pictures are above, but the links to them are here and here.

Hopper was confirmed to be alive in the From Russia with love... teaser trailer that was released February 2020. The video shows him working as a prisoner for the Russians that invaded Hawkins in season 3. How Hopper got there is unknown, but at least he didn’t die in the explosion at the end of season 3. This teaser trailer also shows a brief glimpse of Tom Wlaschiha as a new character named Dmitri, but we will get into that in the New Character section of this post.

Around the same time this teaser trailer came out the Duffer brothers did an interview with Indiewire. In this interview they said “We’re excited to officially confirm that production on ‘Stranger Things 4′ is now underway - and even more excited to announce the return of Hopper! Although it’s not all good news for our ‘American;’ he is imprisoned far from home in the snowy wasteland of Kamchatka, where he will face dangers both human...and other. Meanwhile, back in the states, a new horror is beginning to surface, something long buried, something that connects everything.”

In March 2020, the Stranger Things youtube channel shared a table read video that shows the entire cast reuniting to read the season 4 scripts. A few days after this some of the cast began filming their scenes for season 4. They were able to film for 2 weeks before production for season 4 shut down due to coronavirus.

In October 2020, the Stranger Things social media accounts shared a picture of a clock with clapperboard in front of it. The caption to the picture says “meanwhile in the upside down...” This picture signified that they had returned to filming season 4 after a long delay. They have been filming ever since. On the same day, the Stranger Writers twitter account shared a photo that shows a paper that promotes a pep rally at Hawkins High School. The link to the photo is here.

The Stranger Writers twitter account also shared a new photo of Dustin one day later in this picture here.

On Stranger Things day 2020, the stranger things social media accounts shared a photo that shows the official Hellfire Club logo. They also shared a picture of Dustin wearing a Hellfire Club shirt here, and a video of Dustin running with a flag that says Hellfire Club on it here.

They also shared two videos of a dice rolling during a game of D&D right here and here. This is actual video footage of season 4 by the way!

On the same day the Stranger Things social media accounts shared a few photos of Caleb, Sadie, Joe, and Gaten sitting behind the scenes while filming season 4. The photos are right here.

Later, in November 2020 the Stranger Things social media account shared all of the new characters and their descriptions in a post. I will get into this in the New Characters section of this post.

On May 5th, the Stranger Things youtube channel posted this HNL Control Room video that shows brief glimpses of what seem to be the rainbow room, with objects in it covered in blood while the lights are flashing.

One day after the HNL Control Room video, this teaser trailer was released, titled Eleven Are You Listening? The teaser shows the rainbow room with a bunch of young test subjects inside of it. This teaser also shows Dr. Brenner talking to the kids inside of the room, and the video also hints that eleven might be trapped in the lab again for experiments. It is unknown if this trailer is just a flashback in the past, is in the present (which would confirm that Brenner is alive), or maybe it is hinting at time travel, because there has been a lot of clocks shown for season 4. The trailer also says 002/004, while the Russia one says 001/004, meaning that we will be getting 2 more teaser trailers. Apparently one of the next trailers features Joyce, and the last one features Will, but that is just a theory for now.

PLOT LEAKS

There a quite a few supposed plot leaks on season 4, but I will give you the most reliable one yet. All of this information was posted on 4chan, but has since been deleted. It came from someone who claimed that they were working on the set of Stranger Things 4 before production shut down in March 2020 during the pandemic. You can find this plot leak here and here.

Stanger Things 4 (potential) plot leak:

Steve applies at Hawkins PD but is scolded for previous vandalism and breaking the law including the “Nancy is a slut” writing on the movie theater.

Max is suffering from depression and has a scene with a school counselor on this. Later on in the season she and Lucas will also have a massive argument and she dumps him.

Fred reveals to Dustin that his father is secretly alive and worked for Hawkins Lab. He believes his father was experimented on and in the process lost his sanity, leading to his mom’s death. To avoid any leak info, he was put in a mental hospital outside of Hawkins.

Robin grows closer to Dustin and befriends Nancy who is focused on graduating. There’s a scene where all three are together in lunch and Mike is there as well, who is seen friendly with a cheerleader while Lucas and Eddie watch and giggle from afar.

The Hellfire Club is an “Elite” group of nerds created by an orphaned senior named “Fred Ripley,” who uses it to create hangouts and attracts the attention of Dustin when the nerds play D&D. Lucas and Mike decline the offer to join unsurprisingly.

Dustin joins the club but is initially seen as the “runt of the litter” as he is the one freshmen vs. the upperclassmen in it but he gains trust and respect with his D&D skills and for having Robin back him up. He eventually gets closer to Fred as the season goes on.

Eleven and Mike will have a “phone call” scene with the walkie talkies from the first two seasons, in it we will see that Mike is slowly starting to lose interest and El is noticing it. El tells Mike “I love you” to which he says, “I know.”

A planned new upside down creature.

The show is looking to cast high school aged Joyce, Hopper, and Lonnie for a flashback episode.

No plans to involve Chernobyl (popular fan theory) in the main plot.

5 major deaths will happen; 2 new characters and 3 old character including one of the kids who dies in episode 9.

Unlike the previous seasons, the events of the storyline will transpire over months as the final episode takes place in May, presumably during the kids’ last month in their freshmen year.

Hard to tell if this information is true. There are quite a few character leaks and set photos that hint to some of this stuff being true. Think what you want to think about it.

It looks like you can see the actor that played Lonnie Byers from season 1 in that picture from the table read video, meaning we will probably see more if him in season 4.

NEW CHARACTERS

In November 2020, the official Stranger Things social media account shared a thread that showed new characters, the actors that play them, and a brief description of their new characters.

Quite a few of these new characters were leaked earlier in 2020 on Murphy’s Multiverse here and on another website here. Some of the characters that were leaked earlier in the year weren’t actually confirmed by the Stranger Things account, but I will still list them because they could just be smaller roles.

CHARACTERS:

Victor Creel played by Robert Englund: Recurring

“A disturbed and intimidating man who is imprisoned in a psychiatric hospital for a gruesome murder in the 1950s.”

There was one character leaked named “Ashe,” who I will assume is a codename for Robert’s character since Ashe is supposed to be in a mental hospital. The leaked audition for Ashe (Victor) is in this video from the Stanger Universe youtube channel right here.

Argyle played by Eduardo Franco: Series Regular

“Johnathan’s new BFF and a fun-loving stoner who proudly delivers delicious pizza pies for Surfer Boy Pizza.”

There were a few auditions leaked for Argyle here, here, and here.

Peter Ballard played by Jamie Campbell Bower: Series Regular

“A caring man who works as an orderly at a psychiatric hospital. Tired of the brutality he witnesses day after day, will Peter finally take a stand?”

There are no leaked auditions for his character.

Lt. Colonel Sullivan played by Sherman Augustus: Recurring

“An intelligent, no-nonsense man who believes he knows how to stop the evil in Hawkins once and for all.”

There is a leaked audition for his character right here.

Jason Carver played by Mason Dye: Recurring

“A handsome, rich athlete who is dating the most popular girl in school. But as a new evil threatens Hawkins, his perfect world begins to unravel.”

There is a leaked audition for his character here, and here.

Dmitri played by Tom Wlaschiha: Recurring

“A smart and charming Russian prison guard. But can he be trusted?”

There is no leaked audition for Dmitri, but he was seen briefly in the From Russia with love... teaser trailer.

Yuri played by Nikola Djuricko: Recurring

“A seedy and unpredictable Russian smuggler who loves bad jokes, cold hard cash, and crunchy style peanut butter.”

There is no leaked audition for Yuri, but there was a phone number that the Stranger Things account sent to fans that contains a message from Yuri. I will get into that later.

Eddie Munson played by Joseph Quinn: Series Regular

“An audacious 80′s metalhead who runs the Hellfire Club, Hawkins High’s official D&D club. Hated by those who don’t understand him - and beloved by those who do - Eddie will find himself at the terrifying epicenter of this season’s mystery.”

There is one leaked audition for Eddie right here.

That is it for all of the confirmed characters, but there are a few other characters that have been leaked that might play smaller roles. Here we go.

Fred (No actor confirmed):

“A dorky four-eyed kid with a love for journalism, Fred can sometimes be off-putting to others.

Chrissy (No actor confirmed):

“Uber-popular cheerleader type who’s desperately trying to hide a dark streak of pain and depression lurking under the surface. She has issues with self-image stemming from her mother’s emotional abuse.”

An audition for Chrissy is at the end of this video here.

Ms. Kelly (No actor confirmed):

“A kind-eyed high school guidance counselor. She cares about her students and she’s good at her job.”

Angela (No actor confirmed):

“A queen bee who is equal parts type-A popular girl and diabolical bully.”

There is a leaked audition for Angela here.

Jake (No actor confirmed):

There is no description or audition for Jake, but apparently he is supposed to be Angela’s boyfriend.

Vickie (No actor confirmed):

“An alternative girl with a cool style. At a glance she might seem unapproachable, but underneath the clothes and the attitude, she’s actually pretty goofy.”

Warden Hatch (No actor confirmed):

“A pretentious and smug head of a psychiatric hospital.”

There is a casting audition for Warden Hatch right here.

Young Boy (No actor confirmed):

“A sensitive and intelligent boy who keeps to himself most of the time.”

I have no idea why this character didn’t have a name at the time he was leaked. There is no audition for this character.

Levon Thurman Hawke was spotted on the set of Stranger Things 4 in October 2020. He seems to be playing a character that has a small role.

There is also apparently a new character named Molly that is talked about in the Eddie audition and the Jason audition. Personally I think that Molly is Chrissy, and that Chrissy is just a codename or something.

CASTING CALLS

I will get into all the extras casting calls from casting taylormade in this section. I will try my best to list all of the casting calls chronologically

DRIVER W/ CLASSIC VEHICLE & STORE PATRON/PEDESTRIAN- OCTOBER 1ST

For the classic vehicle role you had to bring a car from 1960-1987. Both of these casting calls were for October 1st, and it says TBA Production, but I am assuming it’s stranger things because this is the time they began filming again and it is also asking for vintage cars.

NEIGHBORS W/ VINTAGE 80′S CARS- OCTOBER 2ND

This call was for October 2nd, and it also says TBA production, but I am assuming it is Stranger Things because it is asking for 80′s cars.

VINTAGE VEHICLE (1960-1987), MULTI DAY POLICE ROLE, FEATURED HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL PLAYER WITH REAL TEAM EXPERIENCE, and FEATURED HIGH SCHOOL UNIQUE TYPES- OCTOBER 5TH

There is a lot here. These extras filmed October 5th. Once again it is a TBA series, but I am assuming it is Stranger Things because of the vintage cars. For the basketball player role you needed real team experience. Also for the unique types role, they wanted you to have an edgy/nerdy/unique/individual style.

There is also another casting call for minors on October 5th. It is for a high school athletic type. It is hard to tell if this is for Stranger Things because it says TBA production and there is nothing that tells me it is from the 80′s. It could still be for Stranger Things though. The link to it is here.

HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL PLAYER WITH REAL TEAM EXPERIENCE- OCTOBER 6TH

This is once again a TBA production, but probably is for Stranger Things because this same role was listed before.

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT, VINTAGE VEHICLES (1960-1987)- OCTOBER 8TH

This is when they started listing the casting calls as Stranger Things. The high school student role is recurring. I have a feeling it might be the role that Levon Thurman Hawke plays.

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, VINTAGE VEHICLES (1960-1987), CHARACTER TYPES- OCTOBER 9TH

More high schoolers and vintage vehicles. For the role called “Character Types” they were looking for people with interesting/unique/odd/scary looks.

There was a casting call for October 12th for a TBA production that still could have possibly been Stranger Things. The link to it is here.

NEIGHBORHOOD KID- OCTOBER 16TH

This is the first official call for minors. The role had to be Caucasian and 10-12 years old.

This section of the post will be split into a few different parts (Lithuania, Hawkins High School, Family Video Store/Arcade, Pennhurst, Outdoors locations, New Mexico Shooting, and other locations). I’ll try my best to put the dates they filmed at each location. Update: I’ll try to put the dates they were filming as well.

Lithuania Filming

These are some pictures from the prison in Lithuania where Hopper’s season 4 plot will take place. This was the first place they shot season 4 at. These photos don’t really give away any spoilers because they are all outside of the prison.

They also filmed a few more scenes at the prison in Lithuania in early 2021. One of the pictures from the prison set shows a Russian prisoner extra that is covered in blood. Maybe more prisoners will be fed to the Demogorgon, or maybe the Russians have some new monster they’ve captured as well.

Hawkins High School Filming

They started filming some of the first scenes at Hawkins High School in October 2020. Gaten, Sadie, and Natalia were all seen filming there. Gaten was also wearing a shirt the says Hellfire Club on it.

In November 2020, Finn, Gaten, and the cheerleader character were all seen on the high school set together. Finn is also wearing a Hellfire Club shirt along with Gaten.

In April/May 2021, the production started putting military tents around Hawkins High School, which has a new design. There are pictures of military trucks, police cars, fire trucks, and even Steve’s car which are around the high school set. They also put a blood donation tent outside of the high school. It seems like something pretty big will happen here.

There are many leaked set photos of props and stuff that they have been using inside of the Hawkins High School set. These photos have been taken throughout 2020 and 2021. {ST A} [1/4] If you want... So I was reading more of the article for the newest season of Stranger Things just a few days ago. Not many people are posting about it though, I had to do my own research. Anyway! This is the Satanic Panic era in the 1980s. Remember when the Byers (along with El) moved? They moved to Mexico. Hopper's in Russian. Some of the newer characters are high schoolers in some part of the story, or they are either guards and mental patients in an asylum. And there are some new

[2/4] faces in this season. I'll list some of them, probably not all the new characters. Eduardo Franco as Argyle, Jonathan’s new best friend. Jamie Campbell Bower as Peter Ballard, orderly at a psychiatric hospital. Joseph Quinn, playing Eddie Munson, an audacious 80’s metalhead who runs The Hellfire Club in Hawkins High’s official D&D club. [3/4] Robert Englund - and it looks like he may be inspiring just as many nightmares in Stranger Things, with his character Victor Creel - a serial killer. Tom Wlaschiha (best known as Jaqen H’ghar in Game of Thrones) as a Russian prison guard who befriends Hopper. Sherman Augustus as an intelligent, no-nonsense man who believes he knows how to stop the evil in Hawkins. And Nikola Djuricko as a Russian smuggler. Mason Dye plays Jason Carver, his story is similar to Steve's. Y'know.. rich boy who [4/4] becomes tracked in this new world of chaotic creatures. That's how I took his backstory. And I know... that's a lot of the new characters, a few of the original characters don't have that much fleshing out (in my opinion). And I'm not sure how I will feel about the newest season, but there are actors I recognize. So, at the moment, I'm watching some of those actors in this season. Not sure about the story yet, so I can't say much about it. / I didn't mean to send that many messages to you.

Whoah!! Okay, first, don’t apologize! I did ask and thank you so much for providing all this incredible information! I’m going to put everything under the cut just because there is much to unpack here.

Okay. So, Mexico? Alright, I can get behind that. Sounds like we’re going to be splitting our time in about three different ways: Hawkins, Mexico, and Russia. Although, I remember Stranger Things on Twitter made that announcement post that was something along the lines of ‘we’re not in Hawkins anymore’ or something like that? But it looked more like the Upside Down... so perhaps we’re going there too? Hmmm...

I also googled all these actors you mentioned just so I could put a face to the name lol. Let’s start at the beginning:

Eduardo Franco [as Argyle]. Okay, so I’m not too familiar with any of the other films/tv shows he’s been in but I do recognize him (maybe from a trailer or something). I like the idea of Jonathan having a best friend, he’s been severely lacking in that department for the last three seasons so yeah, gimme the bromance! I’m here for that!

Jamie Campbell Bower [as Peter Ballard]. Holy w o w, they got Jamie!? I recognized him immediately!! Alright, orderly at a psychiatric hospital? What is the reason for a psychiatric hospital this season? And is it in Hawkins or in Mexico?? Who is living in there that we need to know about? I know that in the post I referenced in the last ask, there was speculation that Billy could be residing in there (if he is, in fact, alive) but that’s all just speculation. Hmmm...

Joseph Quinn [as Eddie Munson]. So, a metalhead? I remember there being a bit of an uproar when this was first revealed a few months back because we technically already had that in the form of Billy Hargrove and they killed him so why replace him with someone else?? Seems like he’s going to be a tad different though since he’ll be running a D&D club but I guess we’ll find out.

Robert England [as Victor Creel]. I mean, enough said, right? This guy is a legend so you know whatever he brings to the show is going to be incredible! It’s strange though because Stranger Things isn’t listed on his IMDB page but I did google it and it’s confirmed in quite a few articles. Just... why a serial killer though? What does that add to the story? Especially since our main group of protagonists are basically children. That’s a tad bit concerning. But maybe that’s why the psychiatric hospital is necessary... maybe he’s a patient?? There’s a lot they seem to be wanting to do in the span of about nine episodes.

Tom Wlaschiha [as Dmitri]. That’s according to his IMDB page and it looks like he’s only going to be in the first two episodes... or at least that’s all he has credited. So is the Russia thing going to only span two episodes and then Hop will be back where he belongs?? I do like this actor though so it’s really cool to see him in something else!!

Sherman Augustus [as Lt. Colonel Sullivan]. Also according to his IMDB page so yeah, I can see a Lt. Colonel being an intelligent, no-nonsense kind of man. Interesting!

Nikola Djuricko [as Yuri]. Russian smuggler... sure, okay. But why?

Mason Dye [as Jason Carver]. According to his IMDB page, he’s only credited in the first episode so not sure how big of a role he is going to have but if he’s supposed to be a knock off version of Steve? Nah, don’t really want it tbh. Like, unless they show us with Jason that alternative route Steve could have taken with being a complete dick (like he was in S1), I’m not sure why his character is entirely necessary. Guess we’ll have to wait and see...

What I do find interesting about all of these new characters you mentioned is that they’re all men... why? Are we not getting any new female characters? Does anyone know? That’s kind of ridiculous if you ask me. I did see a BTS shot floating around a week or so ago that looked to be showing Kali and her group (from S2) so it looks like they’re making a return but again, the question is still... why? I have a lot of questions but still not a lot of answers at this point.

Based on some of the actors I googled, S4 looks to be nine episodes long and IMDB has the first three episode titles listed: [1] The Hellfire Club, [2] Tick Tock Mr Clock, and [3] You Snooze You Lose.

I don’t know. Looks like S4 is coming sometime in 2021 so I’m hoping since we’re nearing the end of 2020 (finally!), we can hopefully start to see some more announcements in the form of trailers soon.
