Happy 7th anniversary Fuwa Maria and Fuwa Mario!

My UTAU babies are getting old now, and it's crazy to see how much they've grown and changed over these past few years, considering the amount of times I've changed their lore and designs LMAO. At this point they're well on their way to turning 10 in the next three years.

In celebration, I have prepared a celebratory illustration of my UTAUs and my online persona, both with and without the text :3 Other than that, I have scheduled an anniversary cover that will be uploaded later this afternoon. :3 Please look forward to it! I know I didn't plan to release any voicebanks today, but I will make up for it in the future.

Also, Maria and Mario's in-character birthday is set to April 4, 1298. I guess that makes them 724 years old at the time of writing this post! (dear god they're so old)

you couldn't exactly say you weren't proud of your performance today.

for one, you'd come into the office late, knowing that your penalties would be formally waived by your boss but well aware that you would have to face his own personal punishment. it was just your luck that this very day was the most busy the office had been all month, leaving you running papers back and forth from your boss' office for hours, nearly tripping over your own heels three times too many before you even reached your lunch break, praying that you weren't screwing anything else up in your frantic rush.

but before you could even think about escaping the confines of the office building to make up for your missed breakfast at a cafe nearby, your boss was already calling back into his office. you already knew exactly why he was requesting your presence, fear and anticipation immediately tangling into a heavy knot in the pit of your stomach. but still you went, obediently as you always did, keeping your head low as you passed your coworkers in the hall.

your fate had been sealed the moment you made a mistake, the same outcome that had been repeating for months now each time you made an error, whether it was as small as not taking the trash out from the waste bin when it was too full for his liking to something as grievous as spilling his morning coffee all over one of his pristine white button-ups. for any and all errors, you were certain to face this punishment.

the position you were in wasn't unfamiliar, bent over nanami's desk, pencil skirt hiked all the way up to your waist with your underwear around your knees, completely at the mercy of the man caging you in with his body from behind.

"if you keep making all that noise, you're going to end up getting us both fired." he growled, voice low in your ear, one hand still pressed firmly over the center of your back, forcing your chest down onto his desk. the other was occupied between your legs, two thick fingers plunging mercilessly into your needy cunt as you struggled to hold in every whimper and moan each snap of his wrist drew from the back of your throat.

he curled his fingers to rub at spot inside you that made your knees weak, barely chuckling when you writhed under him. "enjoying your punishment like this... you're just a pathetic slut. That's all you'll ever be, isn't that right?"

Your head hung low as you came over his fingers, shuddering, biting firmly at the inside of your cheeks to hold back the whine threatening to escape your heaving chest. you knew you should be ashamed to be so excited in the face of his cruelty, but when it was his voice and hands—discipling you harshly but still paying such good attention to you and your body—you couldn't help yourself.

but you didn't, and the day continued as it always did, phone calls and document filing keeping you occupied for the rest of your shift, not receiving another word from your boss regarding anything. you tried not to take it personally when he didn't bid you farewell before leaving the building, reminding yourself that it was most likely just the pressure of a busy quarter, cursing yourself for screwing things up and enjoying your momentary bliss before the true consequence of genuine disappointment from nanami anchored you back to the somber reality of your situation.

it was foolish of you to think you'd be anything more than a secretary in his eyes.

Hmmm, this is an interesting one based on what I, ideally, would build because they'd all have to work really well together but let's see if I'm up for the challenge.

Current champion: Ricky Starks. It was between him and Scorpio Sky, but since Scorpio is one half of MOTY I consider them a packaged deal, and I don't know that I think it's easy for one half of a two man group to be the leader -- not without there being a lot of strife and I need this faction to last. Ricky, as FTW champ, is currently the de facto active wrestling leader of Team Taz and they're still currently one of the few factions not in need of family therapy.

An existing tag team: The Butcher and the Blade Listen, I have a lot of favorite tag teams, including the Bucks, PnP, and FTR. But if I'm pulling a team up for my uses, I want these guys. They're incredibly talented and not quite finding their stride right now with AFO (which happens when multiple tag teams are in your faction)

Singles female wrestler: Allie "The Bunny" Who am I to break up a marriage?

Singles male wrestler: Lee Moriarty The only current face on this list. But I love this guy. He's got a moves that balances out the rest of the team above. There's an instance of this that I was thinking about where I brought in 2point0 as my tag team and DG as my singles wrestler. Even though I'm not a JAS fan, I'm leaving them where they are. Don't worry, we'll beat JAS and wind up absorbing them later. Shawn was another contender here, because I am currently torn between loving what he's doing and wishing he was in the ring more for his own matches. But Lee? Turn him heel and let's mold him in the image of what we need character-wise boosted by his natural talent.

A "veteran" wrestler: Lance Archer This one's hard, I mean how are we defining "veteran" here. Ricky defines himself as a mentor to some of the younger guys and has said so in interviews, but he also doesn't consider himself a veteran. But I'm going with Lance here. He debuted 21 years ago and to be honest, I think there's a lot he could be doing right now that his booking isn't allowing him to do and as I've said, I have no clue what Lambert is doing with him as he's not linked with the rest of ATT. So we'll bring him in and give him his shine.

Manager: Me. Tully Blanchard If you can't tell from my fics, I love Tully immensely. FTR might have fired him, but I love him and think he can help these guys be ruthless. That being said, obviously, Taz was a contender here given I went with Ricky -- but he'd be an ally for sure if not Team Taz continuing to be an extension a la House of Torture to Bullet Club in NJPW. And Jake, who I adore and miss on my television.

Heel or Face: Heel all the way, baybeee. We're not cheaters, we're just really f'n creative.

I don't know about details, but I think you've got strong belt contenders here when these folks are put together and utilized right. I also think they'd perform well against a faction that's face OR heel.

Note: This is long but I felt like getting it out there not just for the sake of newer fans but because it’s been a long time since I’ve written about wrestling and I’d like to get into the habit again.

So I’m still pretty new to the current form of WRESTLING TUMBLR™️ but I am a Tumblr vet (joined in May of ‘09 baybee). I am also a vet when it comes to being a wrestling fan. I’m talking 25 years (since I was 10). And I feel this urge to be the cool aunt to all the newer and/or younger fans. I don’t wanna act like I am some super authority figure or that my thoughts and opinions are fucking gospel, but like...apply the wisdom I’ve learned over the years.

Especially as someone whose favorite wrestlers tend to be somewhere in the lower to upper mid-card range.

There is a lot of anger/disappointment/etc right now regarding AEW and some of the recent booking and I just wanna say a few things about it that hopefully will resonate or ease some of that.

-People who are upset with Kenny and/or the Bucks being the champs because they are EVPs :

They deserve it. Why? Because AEW is their baby. Yes, Tony Khan is a big part of it but ultimately the Bucks, Kenny and Cody are the originators. They took a huge risk and it has paid off handsomely. So why is it that just because they happen to be EVPs that means they can never be booked to win big? This whole industry is and has been booked that way. Plus, it’s not like they put the straps on themselves instantly. It’s been over a year and I think it’s fair to say they earned it. Also: they won’t have them forever. Wrestling isn’t fun when the belts never switch hands. We know this and they know this as well.

- Chuck and Trent being underutilized and Orange Cassidy being pushed the moon:

I am a HUGE Best Friends fan. Have been for years. In fact, one of the first shirts I ever bought that wasn’t WWE was a Best Friends shirt and I’ve worn that bitch to All In, Double or Nothing, All Out and Revolution. Do I think they could be on Dynamite more often? Sure. Do I think they are being buried or anything like that in favor of Orange? It’s not that simple.

I love OC. He’s cool, fantastic in the ring, looks good but most of all he is just soooo different than what most casual wrestling fans are used to. In this case, it’s worked out to his (and the company’s) advantage. I can’t tell you how many videos I’ve seen online that show people who don’t know shit about wrestling reacting to him in the ring. The Buzz is good and the result is TNT is VERY interested in OC. We all know TK loves him too. The result has been Orange getting more screen time. But I hope most folks realize this is not his fault. Plus, there’s always gonna be like...designated roles in a wrestling stable. There’s gonna be your singles guys, the tag teams and sometimes a woman or two. It’s just naturally how stables are. And people who are in stables generally are seen supporting their fellow members.

The Best Friends do appear to be on the back burner as far as storyline/prominence goes right now and that’s ok. There is so much talent on that roster, especially in the tag division. If you pull back and look at the episodes objectively, you’ll see that they (the bookers) really try to get everyone screen time as much as possible. When’s the last time PnP had a match? Or Jurassic Express? I can count on one hand the number of times TH2 have been on dynamite this year. That means that a lot of times a team won’t actually have a match on Dynamite for a while. They usually try to even that out by having them on Dark. Again, that is ok. The only alternatives to this would be to A.) cut screen time to several other performers in favor or just one or two teams or B.) have more performers on but the matches would have to be cut to 3-7 minutes. Personally, I would rather have longer matches less often then every week have some dumb ass short matches.

- My favorite ______ deserves ___!

Listen, everyone has favorites and naturally we all want to see our favorites as much as possible and want them to be dripping in championships. The reality is, if the same people/teams are the champions all the time it’s boring as fuck. Seriously. In good companies, there is a nice ebb and flow of changing of championships. Titles changes that happen too often lose their prestige. When they take too long to change hands it becomes boring and predictable.

In my over two decades of watching wrestling I’ve learned to embrace this. When your favorite finally gets booked in a higher profile feud, it makes it all that much more exciting and important. Take my current favorite AEW star: I am patiently waiting for Colt Cabana to get something bigger than his current position in the Dark Order. It may be a while. It might be in a few weeks. In the mean time, I just appreciate it when I get to see him at all.

- The women’s division is trash in AEW right now

It could be better, but believe me: it could be way fucking worse. If any of you remember the Diva’s Championship era of WWE know what the hell I’m talking about. I think that right now, with Covid-19 and injuries for some performers, the women’s division is in a holding pattern. It sucks. There’s no way around it. If you watch Dark, that’s where the ladies shine. There is often 3-5 women’s matches on there and they feature some bigger players and some lesser known jobbettes. Sometimes that means there’s a squash match. But often the performers are given a solid 6+ minutes to go at it. That doesn’t sound long but it’s actually pretty generous especially for those performers who are new/unknown. Yet on Dynamite we usually only get one MAYBE two matches and generally it’s involving the same people.

I think this is probably going to continue to be the case until the pandemic is under control and they are able to travel again. Not just travel in the sense of going to different cities, but also travel for performers. I personally cannot wait until we get some of the wonderful Joshi ladies back in the mix. I honestly think AEW really truly wants to have the women in their company to shine as bright as the men but they are struggling to figure it out. When the company was started, they had some big, well known names in the men’s division i.e. Chris Jericho. I mean, Double or Nothing we got Mox debuting. That’s some name recognition that the women’s division didn’t get and I think they have suffered because of it. That doesn’t mean that the women are any worse than men or that they are any worse than other companies’ women’s divisions.

I hope if anyone actually read all this comments to let me know what they think. Again, I never want to come off as an elitist (lol) or know-it-all but rather like the weird old cat-lady who’s lived through some.

✨BOOKING A GREAT SWERVE BEFORE REVOLUTION: A THREAD✨

SO y’all who follow me would have probably seen that I have a very very strong feeling that the bucks are NOT going to be tag champions going into revolution. Lemme set the scene and tell y’all how I would book this tag title affair~

FOR BACKGROUND: Santana and Ortiz eliminated the Young Bucks from the #1 contender battle royale last week. They then were eliminated and lost, with MJF and Jericho winning. Previously, MJF and Jericho won a triple threat match against PnP and Sammy Hager (that name still makes me crease) to be named “the official tag team of the inner circle”! Now when it comes to MJF’s interactions with all of the inner circle members, he’s made a concerted effort to be nice and friendly to santana and ortiz ONLY, with minimal interactions with Hager and egging on Sammy every chance he can get. This will be important!

First, the Bucks lose their titles to Santana and Ortiz. They could do this any number of ways: cleanly, with a good brothers interference costing them, but what I think is going to happen is that MJF is going to help Santana and Ortiz win the tag titles. The Bucks losing the titles would be great storyline wise - it would free them up for what I hope is going to be a Blood and Guts main, and also continue this storyline of them falling out of favour with Kenny and Callis compared to the Good Brothers, who would still be tag champions for impact! They’re also not feuding with Y2MJF currently, so it would make all the sense in the world to pop them titles on Santana and Ortiz.

The match at Revolution changes to Santana and Ortiz vs MJF and Jericho. Chris is still reeling from what happened with Sammy and is despondent - after all, he is like a father figure to him. Interestingly, if you watched when Sammy walked out, only Jericho and Hager seemed concerned that he had gone. Santana and Ortiz were over with MJF checking on him. This, I think, was a subtle hint! Because Chris is so affected by Sammy leaving and by having to face two other members of the inner circle, MJF and Jericho lose at Revolution with Chris being pinned. MJF then becomes furious and attacks Jericho.

Sammy and Hager come out to make the save, as they are the closest to Jericho. They wait and expect Santana and Ortiz to join them in fighting off MJF and wardlow however......they move to MJF’s side and join them. Have them cut a promo about how they were always pushed to the side for whatever tag team Chris was in, be it Jericho and Hager or Le Sex Gods, even before MJF joined the inner circle, and that only when MJF showed up to help them out was when they won the titles that Chris promised them. Have the four of them lay out Jericho, Sammy and Hager and set up a civil war storyline between the two splinter fractions of the inner circle ✨

Now, I’m fully expecting that little weasel MJF to betray Santana and Ortiz after somewhere down the line, which I think would be GREAT! If you haven’t seen their face promos, especially Santana’s one before the eye for an eye match in the revolution build up, GO WATCH THEM NOW! They are absolutely incredible face promos and them being faces is where the money is at. At the same time as their title run is going on, I would have a separate storyline where the butcher and the blade turn on Kingston, after his promise of helping them win the tag titles fails to work out. Even have Butcher and Blade lose a title shot against Santana and Ortiz. Eddie goes on a spiral and a downfall, after his losses to mox, pac and archer. When MJF betrays Santana and Ortiz, likely so he and wardlow can become tag champions, have them join up with Eddie and form a face stable to go after them ✨

The Pitch Project - Recap

The Pitch Project just finished up and over 750 sell sheets for unpublished games were uploaded, reviewed, and rated by over 30 industry experts. The top 50 were then selected to pitch their game live to over 40 publishers. Many of them are now in discussions with publishers as they set up demos!

While this round of The Pitch Project is over, there is still a way for designers to get involved. The main site for The Pitch Project is www.AllButPublished.com and all designers can upload as many sell sheets, videos and PnPs as they want! The site will likely turn into a subscription site in the future, but for now, it's free! Publishers have been taught how to use the site to search for games based on all sorts of different tags. Coming in the new year, the plan is to have industry experts review and rate sell sheets, so you can even improve them! There will be a designer's main page that they can share with publishers to showcase their sell sheets, videos, rules, PnPs, images and more!

All Out 2020 Predictions

Just gonna run down the card here, because I keep forgetting what’s on this show, and it is stacked.

Side note: Looking this up on Wikipedia made me sad, because the article points out that the show was originally planned for a whole other venue before the pandemic started. I had gotten so used to every AEW show being held in Jacksonville, that I had forgotten the good old days, when they could run every show in Chicago.

Casino Battle Royale, winner gets a shot at the AEW title

I thought they gave up on this stip when they did the Casino Ladder Match at Double-or-Nothing. Here’s a dumb thought: Ditch the casino nonsense. The last two casino battle royals were kind of dumb, because they sent out five guys at a time, and then the 21st guy got to come out last by himself. The problem I had was that I had no idea who half the participants were, and sending them out in fives made it that much harder to keep track.

Anyway, this time around it’s easier to just list them by faction. We have

I saw a video package for this on Dynamite yesterday, and it was fucking stupid, because they wanted me to believe that the good guy team are “four badasses”, even though one of them is QT Marshall for crying out loud. They do this horseshit all the time, where a group of babyfaces try to gang up on the Dark Order, but it never works because the faces never bring enough guys. There’s like eight or nine dudes in the Dark Order, so unless your team has ten or eleven, you’re gonna get your asses kicked. Brodie killed Cody like he was nothing, so why am I supposed to believe Dustin has a chance in hell?

The last time Scorpio Sky was on one of these anti-DO posse teams, it was with Colt Cabana and his partners in SCU. Well, Colt ended up switching sides, and apparently Chris Daniels and Kazarian aren’t even booked, so that tells me what I need to know. Dark Order wins.

Britt Baker vs. Swole in a Tooth and Nail Match.

I don’t know if “Tooth and Nail” is an actual stipulation, or if they’re just calling it that for promotional purposes. I wish they’d spell out the rules to these things instead of just calling out the names of matches like catchphrases. Swole would look pretty dumb if she loses this, so I’m picking her to win.

Matt Hardy vs. Sammy Guevara in a “Broken Rules” Match.

Wikipedia says this is a Last Man Standing match, so maybe they should have just called it that? I mean, less than a month ago Matt claimed that he was ditching all his characters for the duration of the pandemic, and now he’s right back to chanting “Delete!” like nothing changed. I heard a lot about Matt’s cinematic universe run in Impact, but so far I’m not overly impressed with his run in AEW. He just makes a bunch of callbacks to stuff he did in WWE, Impact, and ROH like I’m supposed to know or give a shit about that time he was a douchebag. If Matt loses, he’s supposed to leave AEW, but I’m pretty sure this is a trick, and he’ll just come back as “Leviticus” and pretend to be a robot from outer space. I don’t think I care who wins.

Jurassic Express vs. The Young Bucks.

Why are these guys fighting? I feel like they already did on TV? I’m gonna pull for JE to win this one. I think the Bucks might be my favorite act in AEW, but I mostly enjoy seeing them get the shit beat out of them. Yeah, kill the Young Bucks.

Chris Jericho vs. Orange Cassidy in a Mimosa Mayhem Match.

You can win Mimosa Mayhem by pinfall, submission, or dumping your opponent into a big tank of mimosa. I guess this is a way for OC to win their feud without actually pinning Jericho twice? Alternately, the loser can get pinned, only to dump the winner in the tank to get a moral victory. I’ll go with Orange to win.

AEW Tag Team Championship: Kenny Omega/Hangman vs. FTR

Now that they finally kicked Hangman out of the Elite, and FTR has finally stopped pretending not to be heels, and now that Kenny Omega finally seems to give a shit about his tag team, I think this program could finally lead to something cool. I sort of want FTR to win, just to move the Hangman/Omega angle onto the next stage. If the tag titles are the only thing keeping that team together than we need to see what happens without them.

Also, I want FTR to defend the titles against Santana and Ortiz. Yeah, no offense to Omega and Hangman, but fuck this Elite Drama Bullshit, gimme FTR vs. PnP.

AEW Women’s Championship: Hikaru Shida vs. Thunder Rosa.

Fuck yeah, this is the real main event right here. Thunder Rosa kicks ass, and now she can show her stuff without the nonsensical soap opera booking found in the NWA women’s division. The last time I saw Thunder Rosa in NWA, Melina had inexplicably declared that she had a title match against Rosa, but when the match actually happened, Melina just rolled out of the ring and took a countout. Seeing Eddie Kingston, Ricky Starks, and Thunder Rosa has opened my eyes to a lot of problems in NWA.

Anyway, here’s the AEW storyline for Thunder Rosa: Shida wanted competition, and Thunder Rosa showed up to kick her ass and take her belt. I suspect Shida’s going to win, because Rosa’s NWA title isn’t on the line, but I’m rooting for Thunder Rosa to become the double champ.

AEW Men’s Championship: Jon Moxley vs. MJF.

I want Moxley to win, although I’m not 100% sure this isn’t MJF’s time. It feels too soon, but I didn’t think Moxley would win the title from Jericho back in February either. Also, if Moxley loses the title, it might make it easier for AEW and NJPW to open the Forbidden Door long enough for him to defend the IWGP U.S. title against KENTA. Is that worth putting the world title on MJF? Probably not, but it’s fun to think about.

I don’t understand this feud at all, because MJF has been “campaigning” for a world title shot, even though he’s the #1 contender and he’s undefeated, so I’m pretty sure he could just request the match and he’s all set. MJF has also successfully lobbied to have Moxley’s finisher banned from their match, but what if Mox uses it anyway? They’d just disqualify him and he’d retain the title, right? Or maybe the ref would just stand there and let him do it anyway, because that seems to be how AEW referees do things.

I really don’t get why MJF wanted the Paradigm Shift banned. He got hit with one like two weeks ago, and he acted like it half-crippled him, but then he revealed it didn’t hurt him that badly, so why does he care if he takes another one? MJF also seems to have this thing going on where he pretends to be this high-road-taking “pure wrestler”, who can out-finesse Moxley’s brawling style, but we’ve seen MJF just go apeshit and use hardcore tactics himself.

This is kind of an aside, but I find it funny when Jim Cornette acts surprised when people accuse him of playing a character on his podcasts. He’ll be like “No, no, you don’t understand, I really hate Vince Russo and Kenny Omega and I want them both dead for not respecting kayfabe!” The thing is, wrestlers like MJF and FTR are out here repeating a lot of Cornette’s talking points on TV, specifically to get heel heat. They praise themselves for being workhorses who stick to the fundamentals, but they’re hypocrites who use gamesmanship and trickery to get ahead. So people hear Cornette blowing a gasket about Joey Janela and they just assume he’s being some sort of cartoonish supervillain character to sell his merch, because the alternative is too absurd to contemplate. It’d be like MJF assuring people that he really does bloody people up with his diamond ring in real life, just like he does on TV.

Anyway, I’ll stick with Moxley, but if MJF wins, I’ll be more intrigued than disappointed...

In a statement on Monday, Deputy Speaker Rufus Rodriguez said the request made by Lt. Fernando Calabria Jr. was “improper” and “alarming”, as it violates the duty of lawyers to render legal service to any person needing it.

Rodriguez said a House probe is necessary to find out who issued the order to Calabria to ask the Calbayog Regional Trial Court for a list of lawyers of suspected communists.

“Lt. Calabria claimed that he was just following an order from ‘higher-ups.’ Who in the hierarchy of the PNP [Philippine National Police] gave such directive? Why was the order issued? What was their goal?” he asked.

Rodriguez said he was inclined to believe that Calabria did not act on his own volition.

He said the House should find out if a similar request has been made by any police officer from any other court in other parts of the country.

“We have to find that out from the PNP and from the Supreme Court. Any judge who has received a similar legally questionable solicitation should now report it to the Supreme Court,” Rodriguez said.

He stressed that the targeted lawyers did nothing wrong in defending suspected communists.

“They have a constitutional duty to defend those suspects, who in the first place did not violate the law by just being communists, unless they committed other offenses,” he said.

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, has removed Calabria from his post.

"The relief order is in connection with the March 8 incident in Calbayog City which resulted in the death of Mayor Ronaldo Aquino and five other people, including three PNP personnel and at the same time, the irresponsible conduct of his intelligence officer in relation to the letter request to the local court," Eleazar’s statement read.

Marshals service to counter threats against judiciary

Muntinlupa Rep. Ruffy Biazon, meanwhile, called for the speedy passage of a bill creating the Philippine Marshals Service, which shall be primarily responsible for the protection and security of the members of the judiciary, judicial personnel, the courts, and other court assets.

“We are calling on our fellow legislators in both Houses of Congress to support this bill because of its relevance and necessity, not only for the safety and security of those in the judiciary but also for facilitating the swift delivery of justice,” Biazon said.

Biazon said the Philippine Marshals Service shall be tasked to protect, defend, and ensure the safety of justices, judges, court officials and personnel, and court buildings and properties.

“The Philippine Marshals Service will also have the power to conduct threat assessments and undertake investigations, in coordination with other law enforcement agencies, over crimes and other offenses committed against, including potential actionable security threats to, officials and personnel of the judiciary, and court properties,” he said.

The Service can also investigate allegations of irregularities, including graft and corrupt practices, committed by justices, judges, court officials, and court personnel, and assist in the execution and implementation of court orders.

Citing news reports and data from the Free Legal Assistance Group, Biazon said it was alarming that eight judges and 61 lawyers have already been killed since 2016 alone.

“It is even more terrifying to hear of aggressions, including reg-tagging, being made against lawyers representing political dissidents by law enforcement agencies,” he said. “There is a need to provide our magistrates and judges a secure environment where they will be able to perform this gargantuan task of rendering fair and just decisions amidst all threats to their lives and those of the members of their families.” (PNA)

"The State of Human Rights in the Philippines: Yay or Nay?"

Philippines have been under political, social, economic, and historical injustices for decades. What is happening today is not just a mistake of electing Duterte, but a series of unfortunate decisions and events of the past. Democracy is about to shut down, there is a deterioration of individual freedoms and a continuous suppression of human rights.

Duterte administration have violated several sections in the Philippine Constitution specifically in Article III, The Bill of Rights:

Section 1. No person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law, nor shall any person be denied the equal protection of the laws.

Duterte strikes at activists who were exercising their supposed right to peaceful assembly however has been denied trial and even basic rights. The administration faithfully continues to turn a blind eye in prosecuting allies over the law, therefore violating the Equal protection clause.

Section 2. “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures of whatever nature…”

A suitable section for discussing Duterte's Drug war, thousands have been killed and prosecuted without due process. The PNP is a rotten system to which the people they swore to protect are the oligarchs and not the citizens. It’s no wonder why Filipinos does not trust the police, and the decreasing public trust to public office.

Section 4. No law shall be passed abridging the freedom of speech, of expression, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and petition the government for redress of grievances.

ABS-CBN shutdown verily was a scheme to suppress media and freedom of speech; it is a tool to silence criticism from opposition. In addition, Activists have been denied of their rights for they are left wings that oppose the government. Another thing is the Anti-Terrorism Law which is questionable of its constitutionality. Citizens can be red tagged, anyone who’s opposing to the government’s ideology will be concluded as an enemy of the State by the officer of laws subjective state of mind. Anyone is in danger.

Section 7. “The right of the people to information on matters of public concern shall be recognized….”

The government has not been very transparent regarding fiscal administration. Furthermore, Duterte fully trusts the questionable government officials. A failure to the pandemic response. What happened to 15 billion peso Philhealth, 50 million kaldero, explanation for additional expenses for PNP, useless intel fund, and among many more?

Section 12, Subsection 2. “No torture, force, violence, threat, intimidation, or any other means which vitiate the free will shall be used against him...”

The killing of the Mother and Son recently is a manifestation of PNP dominating over the citizens. Police murders is no new issue, the police threats have now become a norm with Duterte and every day, innocent lives are at stake.

Section 18, Subsection 1. No person shall be detained solely by reason of his political beliefs and aspirations.

During Marcos time, political detentions is a spree. Now with Duterte’s authoritarian regime, silencing activists is non-stop. One of the fundamental reasons why Anti-Terror Law is questioned is of how it is going to be implemented. However due to the past and recent killings, Atty. Diokno and many lawyers have been fighting to put an end to this.

There is many more to add.

Let us be performative and deliberative democracy. Citizens must do their part to pursue protection and realization of fundamental freedoms and human rights particularly for the marginalized, then we can assume that the human rights protection is implemented. The Philippines must start by not electing another Duterte, oligarchs, and political dynasties.

Political discourse and dissent are essentials!

It was 3 am in the morning when a loud knock woke everyone in Lardo’s dilapidated Haus 2.0, except for Lardo. Bitty and Ransom blearily opened their eyes as the knocking continued.

“Shot not,” Bitty said. “You go see who’s making that huge racket.” He pushed Ransom out of the guest bed they were sharing.

Ransom fell on the floor with a thump. “Why doesn’t this woman ever buy comfortable rugs? I’m getting her one for Christmas.”

“She complains about cleaning them,” Bitty replied. “Go, or that person’s not gonna stop.”

Ransom yawned and cracked his neck as he left the guestroom, grabbing a hockey stick along the way in case there was a crazy person standing outside the door.

Ransom swung open the door, hockey stick and hand, and ended up looking at a very tall, imposing old woman. There was a tired younger woman standing at her side, holding a suitcase and clutching a phone.

“Who are you?” The old woman asked.

“Uhhh...” Ransom blinked and opened his eyes wider to make sure that he was indeed seeing an old lady standing in front of his friend’s door at 3 am. “Who are you?”

“I am Catherine de Bourgh-Knight,” she said haughtily. “Is this...residence...” she looked at the Haus with disdain, “...where Larissa Duan resides?”

Ransom pursed his lips together. Haus 2.0 was important to him. It may not be the original Haus at Samwell, but it was the place Lardo shared with him, Holster, and Bitty when they started their first real adult jobs. And this woman was looking at it like it was a dump.

“This is where Lardo lives, yeah.” He said.

“Ah, well. I found the place then,” she pushed past him, leading the woman behind her inside the house without even asking for Ransom’s permission. “Thank you for inviting me into this...quaint dwelling.”

“Hey, what the fuck? You can’t just barge in like this! It’s 3 am in the morning!” Ransom said, not sure what the do as the younger woman closed the door politely and Catherine de Bourgh-Knight made her way into the living room.

Ransom fingers itched as he stopped himself from trying to haul them out of the house and shut the door in their faces. A tall, bulky 6′2′’ black man couldn’t just physically drag an old white lady out of the house.

“Bitty!” He kept an eye on the women while he called for Bits. He was pretty sure Bitty can push them out without consequence. “Bitty!!! We have guests!”

Bitty bursted out of the guestroom, which was directly opposite from the living room, clearly rumpled from sleep, while holding another hockey stick.

“I’m here, Ranso-” He stared at the scene in the living room. Bitty, like Ransom, blinked and rubbed his eyes to make sure that there was indeed a tall, imposing old woman standing with a posture full of disdain inside the living room. “Um.”

“They just came in after I opened the door,” Ransom explained.

“I’m here for Larissa Duan, I have a great opportunity for her and she will not regret talking with me.” the lady said, she looked at the couch. “Is this thing safe to sit on?”

“Yes,” Bitty lied through his teeth. “But it is the middle of the night! Ma’am, we cannot be having with this!”

“Lards is asleep, you’re not seeing her.” Ransom said. He waved a hand at the door. “Please leave.”

“Do you two know who I am? I am Catherine de Bough-Knight, chairwomen of more committees than I care to remember. It is extremely advantageous for the both of you to listen to me now, or I can and will be able to make life difficult for you.” Catherine de Bourgh-Knight said and aggressively thumped the floor with her cane.

“Nope, nope, nope,” Bitty walked over and started to physically herd her away with his hockey stick. “Ransom’s got the right idea, we’re not letting you see her.”

Catherine looked at the young woman next to her, who mustered up a breath.

“Larissa Duan you come out right now!!” The young woman shouted.

Ransom heard the telltale creak on the ceiling that meant that Lardo had gotten up from bed. Another creak told him that her bedroom door was open. At this point in time, Bitty had stopped trying to push the two women out as Lardo’s footsteps came down the stairs methodically. First her feet appeared, then her legs, and finally the whole full Lardo emerged. She was wearing Holster’s old hoodie that he swore he lost months ago and Bitty’s new shorts that Bitty swore he didn’t lose.

“It is...” Lardo looked at her phone. “2 am in the morning. No. 3 am. Mrs. de Bourgh, I hope you have a very good reason for coming to this place.”

Catherine de Bourgh-Knight looked shocked at Lardo’s abrupt way of speaking, as if she expected Lardo to thank her for visiting her in the middle of the night. Of course someone like Larissa Duan should be grateful that she took time out of her busy schedule to see her.

“I must converse with you,” Catherine said haughtily. “I suppose I will, as the gracious person, thank you instead for attending to me at this hour.”

“And I’m gracious enough to say you’re very welcome,” Lardo said blithely. “Let’s go in the backyard. Rans, Bits, you two can go back to sleep.”

“No man,” Ransom said. “We’re not leaving you alone.”

“This is a matter of utter privacy and sensitivity,” said Catherine. “I must insist that I speak with Miss Duan alone.”

Lardo gave Bitty and Ransom a thumbs up and led Catherine de Bourgh-Knight into the yard, but not before Ransom grabbed a pair of sweatpants from the pile of laundry on the living room table and threw it to her. The young woman from before hung behind and stayed inside with Bitty and Ransom while they waited.

There was a full moon out that night; two months ago Lardo had received a package of moon cakes from Chowder. He’d timed it so that she received the package on the exact day of the Mid Autumn festival. She never had any time to celebrate it herself, but this year she’d made a pair of matching masks to send to Chowder and Farmer in return for Chowder’s gift.

While Lardo contemplated the moon, Catherine drew herself up and wasted no time in starting to speak.

“You know the reason I’m here, Miss Duan.” She said gravely. “I don’t wish to beat around the bush, you surely do know my reputation for being a straightforward woman.”

“I don’t know why you’re here,” Lardo said. She saw that Catherine frowned indignantly at her answer.

“Don’t make me spell it out loud for you, Miss Duan. You and I both know what this visit is about.”

Lardo pursed her lips and pretended to think. “Hmm. Nope. Nothing comes to mind. Unless you came to commission me for a piece of art. For you, I can set my rates real cheap. You’ll be happy with that kind of discount.”

“I received some alarming news in the rumor mill,” Catherine said. “Someone told me my nephew Bartholomew has intentions with you. Now of course someone like Bartholomew is expected to sow his wild oats before marriage, and your status is of the perfect level for a dalliance with him. But he is getting to be the age where we are all expecting him to settle down, and now whatever it is you have between you must stop.”

“Hmm,” Lardo said. Her mind was racing. Did Shitty still think of her? She hadn’t spoken with him outside of what her friendship with Jack necessitated them to. Even though Jack and Bitty’s relationship meant that they inevitably saw each other more often than before. Did he still think that she was likeable after all the snubbing she had given him?

Catherine grew more agitated at Lardo’s reticence.

“You must know that the position of Bartholomew’s partner in life, his wife, has already been chose. Now we understand that as a modern young man, he would like to have a few chosen romances of his own, but Bartholomew knows his duty to his family. Your relationship with him will never be serious or important. When the time comes, he will leave you. I’m telling you this for your own well being in order for you to avoid being humiliated when he inevitably rises to his own...class of people with more similarities to him.”

“Interesting,” Lardo said.

“This is common knowledge!” Catherine said. “Now, will you agree to leave him?”

“If Shitty is obviously going to leave an unimportant relationship, then let him leave on his own,” Lardo said.

“So you two are in a relationship?” Catherine asked intently.

“Hmmm,” Lardo shrugged.

“Miss Duan! I will have to tell you something then, to insist that you leave my nephew alone. He is in fact engaged to my daughter, Anne.”

“Wait what?” Lardo finally broke her chill.

Catherine triumphantly smiled. “Yes, I’ve discussed this engagement with his father since my dear Anne and Bartholomew were infants. It’s set in stone, his wife to be is Anne.”

“No, wait,” Lardo said, with enough emotion to make Catherine’s face look more smug until she continued, “Anne is his cousin. I thought you were going to tell me he’s engaged to a Vanderbilt, not his own cousin.”

“They are far apart enough that it’s legal,” Catherine said, a bit haltingly. “And in fact we do have kin ties with the Vanderbilts.”

“But you and his father are cousins.”

“Second cousins.”

“Didn’t they grow up together?”

“That makes them perfect and fitting for each other.”

“But they grew up together as people related to each other.”

“That’s not important-”

“No, no it is. I’m interested in this now. Just because something is legal doesn’t mean it’s not taboo. Does Anne really think of her cousin, who she’s known since childhood and presumably who she’s close as a sibling to him, does she really think of him as husband material?”

“You are an insolent young lady. No! Not a lady. You are a rude little hussy! You seduced my Bartholomew with your exotic nature and assume that he’s going to stay with you. Well, good luck to that because I know my nephew and he will never, ever, be with an uncouth young lady like you. He is a diligent young man who puts the will of his family first and graduated cum laude from Harvard law, and you are some hustler from the streets.”

“That’s very nice, Bartholomew sounds like a wonderful young man who makes good choices. And I’m sure that when the time comes, he’ll marry his cousin like the polite young man he is. You don’t need me to do anything.”

“His association with you will be the laughter of our community if you let this linger on longer!”

“He’s a tough guy, he can handle it. I’m sure he won’t be too charmed by my exoticness. If he is, then I’m afraid I can’t help you with anything. And you should leave my property now.” Lardo ignored the indignant huffs of Catherine and led her inside.

“You are going to regret my warning, Miss Duan! I have come here out of the goodness of my heart, in the middle of the night-”

“Oh, so she knows it’s the middle of the night!” Ransom exclaimed.

“Out of the goodness of my heart,” Catherine repeated. “To advise you on the dangerous waters that you are treading, and if you had listened to me with kindness and respect I would have offered you redress and compensation for your efforts! But as of my mistreatment in your home I will have a strong word with Bartholomew and my committees. And you can expect that neither your art nor your presence will be tolerated in any society that I preside over!”

Lardo ignored her and walked back up the stairs to her room. Bitty firmly guided the two women to the front door and shut it in their faces in the middle of Catherine’s firm “Good-bye and I shall ignore-!”

After a while, Lardo crept back downstairs, to find that Bitty and Ransom were waiting for her in the kitchen.

“Sleep with us tonight, okay?” Ransom asked. “Old cuddle pile?”

She smiled and walked with them to the guestroom. “Yep. Old cuddlepile.”

When she was sandwiched between Ransom and Bitty, she heard Bitty say, “You know, I knew there would be something good that comes out of that other room being out of order because of some old problem.”

“Shut UP don’t remind me!” Ransom whispered. “That used to be my room! There are roaches!!! In my room!!”

Lardo giggled, and she could feel her boys relax. Bitty fell asleep first, then Ransom, then Lardo drifted off, cocooned in family.
