Official Release: Doma Terra Leaves for SimDonia
The royal family and we at the PnP would like to wish Doma Terra the best of luck as she has left our fair isles for an international textile competition. Before she departed for SimDonia four days ago the young Doma took a moment to talk with the tabs about her goals on the tarmac.
“Well of course I am in it to win! *soft chuckle* But in all seriousness I think I have what it takes to foment a new and exciting era of international diplomacy for our little islands. We should be focusing on smaller scale cultural exchanges like this rather than big trade and military agreements. This is what suits our modest position in the world."
To celebrate the event The Sorori Net Authority has teamed up with providers in SimDonia to help expand the broadcast here to the islands. Check with your temple certified SNA merchant to find out how you can tune in.

Please let Astarion meet Tav's family and have a younger sibling like 6 be like im gonna marry the prince points at Astarion.
Tav : Sorry, im married to the prince
NO IM GONNA MARRY THE PRINCE
That's so fucking cute kill me. But I just realized AFTER I finished it I read this wrong 😭😭 I read it as "marry" instead of "married" so whoops now it's an asking for your hand in marriage fic.
Also, I'm going to make this a weird little, unofficial, alternate reality, off shoot of this fic to explain away why Astarion can be in the sun without ascending because I am ~lazy~
Quick summary if you didn't read it, Tav serves Selune, gets a blessing for all the good work, and uses it to cure the anti-light issue of the vampirism (but not all of it). It's not a literal extension of that fic but I'm stealing my own plot explanations. That's it! Now here we go:
~
Astarion wasn't nervous per se. He was just... on edge. And the two-week journey it took to get here wasn't helping things, not when it gave him so much time to ruminate in his thoughts. He never expected to be in the position of "meeting the family," let alone in anticipation for asking for someone's hand in marriage.
Astarion wasn't even quite sure how his life got here. He had always fantasized that a life without Cazador would be one of selfish hedonism, not one where he would be legitimately concerned about a damn six year old sibling's first impression of him.
But then you came along, effortlessly shattering all of his grandiose plans with a batt of your eyelashes. Perhaps the entire journey of falling in love was more complicated, but it felt like it was that simple. In hindsight, he never stood a chance against you, but it was hilarious that there was a time he ever thought he did.
All of his prior dreams and fantasies felt like nothing in comparison to just being with you. It had been a year since you both saved the Sword Coast, a beautiful, fantastic year. That had ended with him somehow more in love with you now than when he first confessed. Selune's blessing had certainly helped with that he was sure. He still couldn't quite believe that you would use a god's blessing on him of all people, but gods, was he appreciative. Because being able to walk in the sun again meant that he could live the life he wanted, with no restrictions. He could be the partner you deserved, the kind that a father would happily say yes to when asking for your hand.
Which brought him back to his current dilemma. Perhaps he hadn't seen any of your family members in the time you'd been together, but he had heard plenty. You loved them all to death, especially your little sister. You wrote to them constantly, the mere sight of a letter from your parents enough to put you in a great mood for the rest of the day. He was aware that your mother was supposedly a saint, a fact that your own father had instilled in you often. He knew that they had a wonderful, loving marriage and were both higher ups in the Church of Selune. A fact that Astarion didn't particularly enjoy.
As grateful to the moon goddess as he was, he was aware that you were an expectation to the very normal belief that vampires were bad. And that marrying one was one of the stupidest things you could ever do from an average person's perspective, let alone a Selunite.
Why you hadn't done the smart thing and lied about what he was, Astarion would never know. But he did know that the thought of their rejection over his admittedly sordid history was putting him in a tailspin.
"They're going to love you," You said for the hundredth time, giving his hand a squeeze as you led him up the steps to your childhood home, "You have nothing to worry about sweetheart. I promise."
Astarion highly doubted that, but you were already knocking on the front door before he had a chance to argue. The door instantly slammed open, a beaming child already launching themselves at you before Astarion could process what was happening.
But you were more prepared them he was. You effortlessly caught them in your arms, laughing at their excited shouting, "Titi! You're late!"
So this was the famous Arabeth.
"No, I'm not!" You laughed as you settled her on your hip, "And what happened to my little girl's manners huh? You haven't even introduced yourself yet."
The child glanced over at him, like she was just realizing for the first time that someone else was standing over there. She looked a little shocked at the sight of him, staring at him with wide eyes. Wide enough for Astarion to start to wonder if something was on his face.
He gave her a little wave only for her to bury her face into your shoulder, peeking out at him with her lips pursed. Which was not the best start to the whole making his darling's family actually like him plan.
"Well, as you've probably guessed this is Arabeth. She's just a little shy," You reassured as you stepped inside, muttering a quick invitation inside under your breath. He appreciated that, he didn't need the whole house to be reminded of his... limitations.
"But she'll get over it soon enough," You continued as you called into the house, "Mom? Dad? We're here!"
And just like that they were rushing into the room, acting just as excited as your sister had been. Your mother wasted no time in smothering your face with kisses while your father swept you up into a hug. It was a rather impressive display of coordination, considering how they hadn't managed to knock you and your sister to the floor in the process. Astarion was pretty sure they were both saying something along the lines of We missed you! But it was hard to tell with all of you so tangled up in each other.
It was heartwarming to see, in all honestly. Of course such a loving person would come from an equally loving family, what else would he expect?
Though he certainly hadn't been expecting for your mother to throw her arms around him next. She brought him into a tight hug before looking him up and down, "So you're Astarion huh?"
She turned back to you, grinning ear to ear with her hands set on Astarion's shoulders, "He's so handsome! Selune help us, do you remember the last boy you brought home? He had a nose the length of my arm-"
"And that's enough of that," You said with a strained laugh, pulling your eccentric mother back a few inches, "And we've talked about the impromptu hugs. What happened to asking for permission?"
"Sorry, sorry!" She said with a wave of her hand, "Let me try again. I'm Seliras, and this is my husband-"
"Marcoul," Your father interrupted, putting his hand out for Astarion to shake, "It's been awhile since we've met a boyfriend."
"He's a little more than that," You said with a sigh as everyone exchanged pleasantries.
"We'll be the judge of that," Marcoul said with a sharp but friendly grin, the grip he had on Astarion's hand briefly tightening before he let go, "From what we've heard, you're quite the character aren't you?"
Ah, so the interrogating was starting early then. It was nothing that Astarion hadn't expected. Besides, turning up the charm was his strong suit, even when he was uncharacteristically nervous.
Astarion smiled back at him, "You've heard right. And I'm more than happy to answer any questions you might have."
"Oh gods please don't say that," You groaned, but it was too late. Your parents were already leading him to sit, rapid-fire questions coming out of their mouth.
Where are you from? How did you meet? Are you serious about our Tav? What's your religion? Where's your family? What are your plans?
But Astarion answered them all, with only mild censorship for the child's sake. The child who suddenly couldn't stop staring at him. It wasn't exactly easy to sell himself as a future husband when he was a vampiric ex-slave, but he made do.
It was an overwhelming experience to say the least, but not necessarily an unpleasant one. That was one good thing about trying to marry into a family of zealots, it was a lot easier to convince them of your virtue when you received a personal blessing from their goddess.
By the end of the night, they were all throughly appeased, enough so to get off the topic of him for a moment.
"You look a little young to have a thirty-year old child," Astarion said to your mother. He was actively trying to compliment her for obvious reasons, but he was also genuinely curious. She barely looked a day over 40.
"Oh we breed young," She said with a laugh, "We had Tav in our teenage years. Arabeth came much, much later. Our favorite little surprise. Gods, I can't think of a single person in our family who didn't have kids young. Our little Tav is the only exception to the rule."
"But maybe not for much longer, huh?" Marcoul added with a grin, yelping when you lightly smacked him over the head for the comment.
"Do not start the kid talk again!" You hissed out, cheeks red, "We've talked about this!"
Astarion couldn't help but grin at your reaction, charmed by your embarrassment. Though... the idea of the two of you having children together sure was an interesting thought.
Astarion felt a tug on his sleeve while you were distracted arguing with your parents. He turned, smiling when he saw your little sister standing there, still staring at him with wide-eyes.
She took a deep breath before blurting out, "You look like a prince. Are you?"
"Not exactly," Astarion said with a small laugh. That couldn't be further from the truth, "There's no blue blood in my veins."
She frowned, cocking her head at him like he wasn't making any sense. But then an idea obviously struck her as she excitedly asked, "But if you married a princess, then you'd become a prince too. Right?"
"I suppose?" Astarion answered with a shrug.
"So if I become a princess, and I marry you, then you'll be a prince?"
This conversation was quickly becoming out of his depth. But luckily enough for him you were swooping in to save him.
You laughed at her question, turning your attention back to the two of them, "No offense Bethy, but I'm going to be the one marrying this particular prince."
But Arabeth wasn't having it. She crossed her arms, looking at you like she was the one talking to a child, "You can't. Because if I don't marry him, he won't be a prince. So there. I have to do it."
She looked so serious, her facial expressions incredibly similar to your own. Astarion was holding back a loud laugh as you tried and failed to reason with her, "I can marry him without the royal status-"
"No! I'm marrying the prince!"
Your parents were doing a much worse job at hiding their reactions, both of them opening giggling behind their hands as you came up with a compromise.
"Okay, okay," You said with a sigh, kneeling down to look the small girl in the eye, "How about this? I marry him first. But only until you become a princess. Then he's all yours. Sound fair?"
She thought about it for a moment before nodding to herself, "Sounds fair."
Well Astarion wasn't going to get a better set-up then that. He turned to your father, his nerves coming back for a brief appearance, "I'm assuming now might be a good time to ask what I came here to ask. Though I do promise I only intending on asking for one of your children's hand in marriage."
Marcoul nodded slowly, his face unreadable as he spoke, "I mean no offense when I say this Astarion, but you aren't exactly who I imagined for my daughter."
"Dad don't-"
"Darling, let him finish," Astarion gently interrupted, his eyes still locked with your father's.
He took a deep breathe before continuing, "That said, I've never seen her so... herself with someone else before. So yes. The two of you can marry. On one condition."
"Anything," Astarion said instantly, nearly giddy at the fact that he was so close to the official yes, "Just name it."
"You have to have the wedding here," Seliras answered for him, a massive smile on her face, "No ifs, ands, or buts."
"And I get to be flower girl!" Arabeth chimed in, her past indignation completely forgotten as she climbed all over you, "And there has to be chocolate cake!"
"Oh gods, help us," You groaned, but Astarion was already nodding along. He couldn't give less than two shits where it happened or who was involved. He could scarcely believe that it was happening at all. But that was the last thing he had needed.
He already had the ring, the most amazing person he could ever fathom being with. Who actually wanted him back.
Now all he had to do was ask.

the optimism of mundanity in sci-fi
[word count: 980]
Mundanity serves my favorite role in worldbuilding. Beyond fictional politics, cultures or races sits the - often overlooked - role of the mundane. The things we do in our day-to-day lives. Where we keep our keys, our routines before going out for the day, the junk we may leave lying around. It’s part of a tiny picture that lingers in the shadows of the vast worlds we build and stories we weave. Yet from that snapshot blossoms a viewpoint dripping with relatability, one that places you into the shoes of a character living in that world to a capacity far beyond that which anything else could even hope to achieve.
When I’m writing a character introduction, it’s about more than just the character’s current position and desires. It’s about integrating the world into their life. If space travel is a commonplace fixture of their world and they own a spaceship, what’s the role of that ship to them? Is it like a car, a mobile home, a flying armory? If it’s like a car, have they left it stock, or have they modified and tuned the way a car lover would in real life? If it’s like a home, what furniture do they deem priority, do they keep it clean, is there any decoration? If an armory, what’s the weaponry of this universe like, what kinds of weapons do they want to keep loaded, how organized is it? (check out the first chapter of my story 501-b, also on this blog, if you wanna see where that though process brought me ;3)
Opportunities for both character and worldbuilding are already pouring out from that simple hypothetical. So many things can be said right away with the mundane relationship between a character and their mode of transport. To them, that’s just how it is, nothing special. The same way you’d look at a car. To the reader, though? That’s a nuclear bomb of information you just detonated in their face and they probably didn’t even realize. If you get how a character views their ship, you already start to understand their personality and the role of space travel in that world right off the bat.
It’s always been alluring to me, an element my mind would hook its foxy paws onto right away. While the lack of it wouldn’t bug me much, I’d always start to wonder about it later. Where does this character live, what’s their home look like? By no means am I arguing that this is an absolute necessity to make a good story. Every story has its own unique needs that can be filled however the creator sees fit. But for me, what I want to see and make more of, is something more down-to-earth. And while a good chunk of that is - admittedly - just me being a neurodivergent nerd, I feel like there’s something more to it. Forgive me for getting a little pretentious from here on out, but-
Mundanity in sci-fi is optimistic. It’s this tinge of reassurance that, no matter what happens, no matter how bad things get or how far we make it away from our home planet, we’re still individuals. Whether its huge, bombastic threats like scary evil aliens, or depressingly real ones like corporate overreach and profit motives, we will persist. There’s comfort in that.
When I get to see a character doing their morning routine in a world separated from our own by anything between decades to centuries, it feels good. Like the artist/writer is patting me on the head and saying “there there, things may be shit, but life isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.” And maybe there’s a nihilistic twist on it, like propaganda on a television or corporate products lining a comfy home’s shelves, but that’s still a television or a home. They may come home from the Sub-Minimum Wage Employee Pulper 9,000™, and that will inherently be sympathetic, but when we get to see them toss their coat aside and go to the kitchen to make a lazy, unhealthy meal and slouch on their sofa and pick up a television remote to flip to their favorite channel, the connection that forms is irreplaceable.
And I feel that it’s severely underutilized. When I watched Andor for the first time (amazing show btw, check it out even if you aren’t the biggest fan of starred wars) and we got to see a character return to their mother’s apartment and eat space cereal with space milk, it was somehow one of the most jarring moments I’ve seen in a Star Wars thing. Living situations are oftentimes such an understated part of popular sci-fi media that I actually felt jarred upon seeing one. And I loved it.
That’s just how uncommon they can be. And I hate that. I hate that sci-fi loves to dismiss the mundanities of life, because those are when I feel the most at-home in a universe. I can immediately feel a character’s vibe if I see them kick their feet up in a messy impromptu living room in their spaceship. While you can put in the work to make me feel that same thing through dialogue and actions, it’s arguably even more work.
So next time you’re making a story, why not save yourself some trouble and show your audience a little snippet of day-to-day life in your world? Show us what a character’s phone looks like and how they use it, or maybe if they have a wallpaper (if applicable) or any stickers on the back of it? Or give us some tiny details about how they get from place to place. Is public transport a thing, do they own their own vehicle of some kind, or do they just walk? Hopefully these thoughts conjure the same kind of inspiration in you as the ones that run around wreaking havoc in my little fox brain.

Hello! If your still willing to write for lmk, could I ask for some headcanons for MK, Macaque, and Nezha (separate)? The prompt is that the reader (gender neutral) has invited them to meet at a Cafe they have gone to before, and when they get there and sit down the reader comes in with a small Bouquet of their favorite flowers. They then begin to calmly explain their romantic attraction towards them in what could be explained as a short essay and at the end politely ask of they would like to begin dating or stay friends.
(I apologize if it is confusing, I am not that good at communicating online)
No, I get it! But also, THIS IS SUCH A CUTE PROMPT. Very formal and classy, I like it!
BUT ALSO, MY BRAIN IS VERY STUPID AND I SOMEHOW DIDN'T SEE IT SAID MK AND NOT WUKONG SO I AM SO SORRY-
Sun Wukong:
- Wukong was so excited when you asked him to meet up with you at a Cafe. Not even just any Cafe but the Cafe where the both of you first met!
- There was a deal on peach pastries that almost sold out pretty quickly and as you reached for the last one, you locked eyes with the infamous Monkie King.
- Needless to say there was some passive aggressive arguing before the both of you decided to just split in half. Little did Wukong know then that you would've become one of his closest friends and eventual crush.
- So he's just sitting in his chair, a bit earlier than you arranged originally but he really couldn't help it, he was too excited! Everytime the bell rang, his head would pop up to see if it was you and would frown when it wasn't.
- So when you finally did enter through the door, Wukong waved you over to the spot he found for you both and you smile softly at him, only for him to realize that you were holding something.
- "Hello Wukong, these are for you." You introduced before handing them the bouquet. He blinked but happily took them from you, "Aw, you shouldn't have, (Y/n)!"
- He was so happy with the flowers that it made you smile, reminding you that one of the many reasons you loved him was because of that smile.
- "So, Wukong, you may be wondering why I asked you to join me here." You introduced, preparing yourself for the big moment.
- "Is it because you wanted to see my handsome face?" He teased.
- "Yes," You answer, taking him a bit off gaurd, "because I have realized that I started developing feelings for you."
- You then proceed to tell him your feelings in a very casual yet formal manner that caused him to get flustered but smile more with each reason you gave. He was excited, WAS THIS REALLY HAPPENING!? HE COULDN'T BELIEVE IT!
- In fact, he's so happy that you didn't even have time to tell him that you didn't mind being friends if he didn't like you back because he just stood up and picked you up, holding you closely and spinning you around, excitedly repeating and shouting the phrase: "YES!" over and over again.
- It took you by surprise at first but then you grinned and hugged him, absolutely thrilled that he returned your feelings.
Macaque:
- Macaque was a bit nervous, admittedly. You asked him to meet at the Cafe that you two both loved.
- Funny story but the way you two met here was when he was working as the Puppeteer for a while, he'd visit on his breaks and you would so happen to enter the Cafe just as he was about too.
- After a few awkward interactions, a friendship between you two grew ans he soon started to look forward to his visits to the Cafe, the both of you exchanging numbers and arranging different places to meet up.
- Now Macaque was back where it all started, staring at his reflection in the dark coffee and subconsciously messing with his fur, occasionally gazing out the window to see if you had arrived yet.
- "Macaque!" You greeted him upon walking in.
- He sent a lazy smile in your direction and raised his eyebrow when he noticed the bouquet of flowers in your hands.
- "I got these for you, I hope you like them!" You say as you happily hand them to him.
- He took them but there was a slight blush on his face, only for him to smirk up at you, "You sure you wanna give me these? I might think you love me~"
- "Well, that is what I wanted to talk to you about today!"
- ....What? Did he hear that right? His six ears flinched nervously as he tilted his head, "Wait what-"
- What you say next is...surprising. He didn't expect all the kind words you had to say about him, not many people did have kind things to say about him, and it made him...happy. The way your voice conveyed calm yet genuine affection. He felt almost...shy? And his heart was beating so fast, too.
- "I believe you have a right to know that I have feelings for you and even if they aren't returned, I'd still be satisfied being friends." You ended cheerfully.
- "I wouldn't." Macaque answered, taking a flower from the bouquet you gave him and putting it in your hair, kissing your cheek.
- It was now your turn to get a little shy.
Nezha:
- Nezha was also a bit nervous, tapping on the table and taking occasional drinks of his tea he got to calm his nerves.
- Not because of you, well, kinda because of you- But not really because of you- It's just that recently he had developed feelings for you and now, he doesn't know...what to do with that information.
- So yeah he's a bit fidgety about it but the moment you walk in, he lights up and he forgets that nervousness. Only the idea of you makes him nervous but once you're in front of him, he feels as calm and content as ever.
- Then he notices the bouquet of lotus flowers and he raises an eyebrow.
- "Who are the flowers for, (Y/n)?"
- "You!"
- "O-Oh...why?"
- You sit down and then you tell him, "Here, let me order first and then I'll tell you why I called you here."
- Alright that seemed reasonable. Putting the bouquet in his lap, he decided to finish up his tea when you tell the barista your order before you turn to him and then flat out say: "I like you."
- He chokes on his tea and starts coughing and you are about to stand up to help him but he kind just holds up a hand as if saying: "Hold on, I got this-" and when he finally manages to clear his throat, he turns to you.
- "WhAT!? He exclaims, having a major voice crack which makes him more flustered.
- You smile softly at him before giggling and explaining when you realized your feelings, why you fell in love with him, how you've been trying to figure out the perfect way to tell him. Each reason making his face warmer and warmer and a warm yet pleasant feeling began to blossom in his chest.
- You...liked him back??
- "I understand if you want to remain friends after this-"
- "NO!....I-I mean, No, I don't want to be friends with you- Wait, I mean, I think we shouldn't be friends anymore because I...also...share those...same feelings."
- HE FEELS SO BAD HE RUINED YOUR BIG CONFESSIOM but then he sees that happy and overjoyed look on your face and he just nervously chuckles.
- "So, Uh, I guess we're dating now, huh?"

You Can't Be Serious NSFW (Reader x Iwaizumi)
High school is an extremely short era in people's lives. The choices you make don’t really matter, and the friends you made in that time usually wash away in the memories that overtake you in the cruel hours of early morning.
For most people at least.
In life, you’d guess that the world was split in two with these drastically different, but equally true opinions. But for you, it’d definitely be the first one. Had you not randomly joined the Seijoh High School boys' volleyball club on a whim as manager in your first year, you were very sure that your life would be completely different than it is right now.
You wouldn’t have four best friends that you keep in contact and chat with almost every day, and even more so, you wouldn’t being engaged at this very moment.
Yes, you were in fact engaged to your first crush and one of your very best friends. You weren’t high school sweethearts, and it wasn’t love at first sight, but more of a gradual thing that had started by the start of college and grown into something that you wouldn’t trade for the world. The ring adorning your left hand was a weight you’ve gladly grown accustomed to, having the ability to make you smile whenever the glimmer of the diamond caught your eye.
Of course, smiling to yourself in a random café was a little embarrassing, but hell if you couldn’t stop yourself. Instead, your smiling turned from the ring to the man you called out your name. You wouldn’t' be surprised if the people sitting in nearby tables thought that the man coming towards you, seemingly intimidating with the number of piercings and tattoos he had, however canceled out with the lazy grin slapped on his face, was your husband-to-be. But you both knew better.
“Hey there, Iwaizumi-san.” Matsukawa’s voice is light and teasing as he approaches your table, with you standing to greet him properly, head shaking slightly at his antics. You give him a quick hug, smiling up at him.
“You don’t have to call me that Issei. Though I will admit it does have a nice ring to it.” He hums as you both go to sit at the table again. “Also, you’re twenty minutes late. What’d you do, crawl here?”
Matsukawa clicks his tongue.
“I came here as fast as I could. It takes a lot of effort to look this good you know.” His arm raises to gesture at himself, jacket slipping down a little ways down his wrist where you could see the beginning of his most recent tattoo that you were against him getting. (What, 14 aren’t enough for you?) You snort.
“Believe me, I know.” He raises his pierced brow at you.
“Hey, it's just chance Hajime got to you first. I could’ve had you if I wanted you.” Its’ your turn to raise a brow.
“Issei... You’re gay.” His response is immediate.
“And he’s goddamn lucky I am. You would’ve fallen for me in an instant if I turned it on back then.” If this wasn’t considered a nice place, you’re sure he would’ve put his feet up on the table, confidence and pride just oozing off him, in the way you admittedly loved.
“Really now? Well, I’m sure my personal trainer fiancé would love to hear that.” A beat of silence hits the table.
“You play dirty.”
You shrug. “Where’s the fun in playing fair?”
“You gotta point.” You chuckle, finally looking at the menu given to you when you were first seated at the table. Matsukawa had actually invited you to lunch, for what you had assumed would be a mini celebration of yours and Hajime’s engagement, but only problem is...
Hajime wasn’t invited. In fact, you were told not to tell him you were going at all.
And, to your knowledge, he was a supposed to be a pretty important aspect of the celebration. When you had initially asked the reason to this impromptu lunch, and why you were told to keep it a secret from your fiancé, Matsukawa had been danced around the question, saying something along the lines of ‘What, I can’t ask one of my best friends to a random lunch? What is up with this society?’
Needless to say, you were suspicious.
You conspicuously look up from your menu, watching Matsukawa as he read his casually. As though this meeting was truly innocent, like there was nothing up his sleeve.
You’d known this man much too long to think for any second he’d do anything with innocent intent.
A server comes and takes your orders quickly and tells you that your food should arrive shortly. In this time, you figure out a proper strategy to try and find out what the hell this man is planning.
“So...” You start, fingers lightly circling the wooden table separating you two. “Mind telling me why you brought me out here so suddenly and why I was sworn to secrecy?” Matsukawa looks to you with half lidded eyes like he usually does, smile light and playful. Truly, an amazing poker face. Had you known him any less you
would’ve been none the wiser, but thankfully, you knew him all too well.
“I can’t take some time out of my very busy work life to see my favourite person in our ragtag group? Do you trust me that little?” You deadpan.
“Yes, I trust you that little. And what busy work life? Takahiro literally just told me you went out and bought as many RubberDucks with sunglasses you could find two days ago. For fun.” He scoffs.
“Well, excuse you, my work is very tiring. I need to find some ways to relax.” You can’t stop the roll of your eyes.
“You work at a funeral home and part time.”
“One could argue I’m doing the Lord’s work.” You fail to mask your face with the veil of annoyance, letting your smile take away any intensity you might’ve had. Chats with Matsukawa definitely didn’t get old.
“Then being the Lord’s helper, don’t you think you could cut the bullshit and tell me what it is you want from me?” He snickers, then goes silent. His face turns deadly serious in an instant, and his eyes meet yours. His stare was so intense you started to get a bit frightened. Was there actually something going on?
“I’m pregnant.” The tightening you felt in your chest was lifted as your tired sigh filled the air surrounding you. You wonder if this lunch was actually worth your time, in the moments that Matsukawa tries to contain his laughter to small chuckles.
“Issei...” He raises his hands in the air in surrender.
“Fine, fine. I brought you out here because I wanted to give you a little engagement present.” Your mood significantly lightens up at his words, mostly because the tiny anxieties in the back of your head of something bad really happening was finally put at bay. The sound of a ruffled paper bag hits your ears as he pulls your present from under the table and on top. (Really, how did you not notice it earlier?)
But you were still a little confused.
“And Hajime couldn’t know because?” Your question trails on as you grab the bag, peering over the table to a smaller white box in the bag. The box was unmarked, and you wondered what it could be.
“He’d beat the shit outta me.” Matsukawa said matter of factly. “He told us no gifts, remember?” Come to think about it, you do remember that. After he announced that you two were engaged to Matsukawa, Hanamakki, and Oikawa you vividly remember Oikawa over video crying about the things he could send from Barcelona, and Hajime saying that’d he punch him the next time they met if he did.
Hajime didn’t really like gifts all that much and it was understandable. He was the kind of guy who appreciated your company more than materialistic objects, which is something you did find really sweet. And he wasn’t alone in his opinion either, since you didn’t really like gifts either, but your reasoning was much shallower; In all honesty, having to remember who gave what and try to reciprocate the level of quality that person had given you before is a hassle.
You’d rather just be given money and be done with it.
But you would be lying to say that it didn’t feel nice to have someone go through the trouble of doing this.
“Aw, Issei... You didn’t have to...” He smiled again, slightly more genuine than the last. “It’s not a problem.” You thanked him, before enthusiastically looking at the box, attempting to open it.
“Actually, I’d refrain from opening it now.” He stops you dead in your tracks, and you look up confused.
“Huh? Why?”
“Let’s just say it's something you definitely wanna open alone.” Your expression makes him laugh but he doesn’t say anything further. You have half the nerve to throw caution to wind and open it anyways, but something deep inside your conscience tells you to listen to him. You hold your slightly concerned gaze, as you gently place the box back into the bag.
“Alright then...” You say cautiously, putting the bag next to your chair. “Can you at least tell me what it is?” His grin turns Cheshire.
“I’m bound by the law of my own unwillingness, and it has extremely strict regulations. So, unfortunately, I’m unable to tell you at this current moment in time. You’ll just have to see for yourself.” He says causally as he watches you slump back in your seat like a child with a laugh. You give him a side glance.
"So, you really just called me out here to give me this?”
“Yup.”
“With no other allterior motive?”
“Nope.” You sigh again, right as your food is being delivered. You both give a quick thanks.
“And you couldn’t have told me this over the phone?”
“What fun is that?” He says, mouth now full of food. You scoff as you begin to eat
your own, still slightly annoyed for being worried over seemingly nothing. Matsukawa notices.
“Aww, are you mad? What can I do for you to forgive me?” His mock pleading voice makes you smile again despite yourself. You click your tongue.
“You can start by treating me.” And with that you drop it. _________________________
The rest of the meal was quite pleasant, with Matsukawa paying for your meal just like you asked and congratulating you once again. You make plans to have lunch again with him and Hanamakki sometime soon, then finally leave for home.
During the meal, you mostly forgot about the present Matsukawa got for you. Sure, the delivery was weird, but Matsukawa was just weird in nature, so you didn’t really think much of it. You loosely held the bag in your hand as you took the train ride home. Your walk back was calm, and everything was ordinary until you returned to the small one-bedroom apartment that you and Hajime shared.
“I’m home!” You called out, taking off your coat and shoes. You hear no response. You crinkle your nose. Hajime should be home by now. You walk into the living, looking for your fiancé, to find a small note on the little table you have your meals on.
Had to pick up someone's shift at the gym, so I’ll be home late tonight. Don’t worry about food I’ll get some on the way. Love you, Hajime
You feel warmth race through you at the note. You always teased him about stuff like this, saying that he should text you instead, but he still did it anyways.
Not that it matters anyways, he knows you like it.
You let a little exhale as you place the note back down. Looks like you're on your own for the rest of the evening. You decide that today would be the perfect time to do nothing but lazy around, since you haven’t done that in a long time and it’s a Friday night damnit. Living an adult lifestyle can be so tiring sometimes, and you deserve a break.
You nod to yourself and prepare for a day of relaxing, throwing your clothes into your hamper and taking the necessary items for a long hot shower. You take your time, letting the warm water ease your tense muscles, and calm you down entirely.
By the time you finish, the bathroom is full of steam, and you know that you’re going to cringe at your water bill this month, but at the moment you didn’t care. You wrap
yourself with your towel and exit filled with bliss. Mind free of all ailments. At least until your eyes land on that paper bag.
You stare at it, and you swear it stares back at you. Every second that passes, you feel your curiosity peak more and more until you can barely stand it.
“Let’s just say it's something you definitely wanna open alone.”
Matsukawa’s words bounce around in your head, and it is his words that make you grab the bag and move to your bedroom, setting it on the bed before removing the unmarked box from its confinements.
You’re eager yet weirdly cautious as you open the box, seeing nothing but coloured tissue paper on the surface. Removing that you find a smaller package. Picking it up you instantly recognize it as the weight of clothes.
Seems normal enough. Why would I not want to open this in public?
You rip the packaging open, to be met with the reason as to why he didn’t want you opening this in public. Your jaw dropped.
It was the sluttiest lingerie set you’d ever seen, in fact, lingerie would be an overstatement.
Lingerie had more fabric than this monstrosity.
It came with a thick light pink collar, and you wish that the was the worst of it. The top was completely pink mesh, made to show everything except the nipples, which even then didn’t do that job correctly because you knew there was no way that would be covering anything properly with this material. The panties, if you could even call them that, were just three pink strings, not even covering what underwear was supposed to cover.
And of course, there were some thigh highs. Because why not add more to this shitshow.
Your face grows more and more red as you stare at the ‘clothes’ in your hands. You stare and stare, and stare... Until your embarrassment of holding such an item turns to pure rage and bitter resentment towards the person that is Matsukawa Issei.
You dial his number in anger and shame, getting more pissed for every ring you hear. Finally, he answers. You don’t even give him time to say hello.
“You perverted son of a bitch.” There’s a pause.
“Hi, you’ve actually reached the boyfriend of the aforementioned ‘perverted son of a bitch’. Can I be of service to you?” Hanamakki’s tone is mockingly serious, amplified over the crispness of the phone audio, and you’re really not in the mood.
“Where the hell is Issei?”
“I’m afraid he’s occupied with a couple dozen RubberDucks and a bath. Perhaps I can solve your issue?” You scoff.
“My issue is that your boyfriend is a sick fuck.” You practically spit. There's another pause.
“Didn’t we establish this? Like a long time ago?” You let out an exasperated sigh. You don’t know why you’re even bothering at this point, there are two peas of the same pod; they were practically made for each other.
“Takahiro, I’m serious. You won’t believe what that rat bastard gave me as an ‘engagement present’.” You use the term present lightly. Like anyone would ever want this.
“Yeah, I know. Can you believe I owe his dumbass a 1000 yen now?” Your eyes narrow in confusion, letting out another scoff unintentionally.
“You knew?”
“Please, I was the one who picked it out.” You tried multiple times to make sensible sentences, but your frustration was getting the better of you. Hanamakki listens to you stumble over your sentences patiently. You take a couple of deep breaths, not wanting your blood pressure to rise.
“Why?” You stress, after realizing that you wouldn’t be able to form anything coherent.
“I’ve actually prepared a whole presentation on this subject matter. It mostly concentrates on, ‘Why the hell not?’” He snickers.
You could swear you saw read.
“Takahiro.” Your tone is clearly conveying your current emotions because you swore you could hear Hanamakki gulp nervously. “Look, it was only a gag gift. No harm, no foul. If you don’t want to use it-” You cut him off with another of your scoffs.
“I’m sorry, ‘Use it’?! What on earth would I use this abomination for?!” There's a beat of silence between you two.
“...Do we really need to have this conversation?” Your nose unintentionally wrinkles.
“You’re not really saying, that either Hajime or I would enjoy this?” You raise the items in your hand, as though Hanamakki could see.
“You, maybe not. But Hajime, most definitely.” You blink, once, twice, slowly.
It’s you who doesn’t say anything for a while, as you stare at the lingerie in your hand.
Hajime would like this? Really?
You could hear Hanamakki sigh on the other end.
“I can practically hear you contemplating your life choices. I am actually sorry if it made you uncomfortable.” You narrow your eyes.
“Are you really?”
“No, this conversation has been really fun. But,” You roll your eyes. “What I’m telling you is true. That thing is maddening I’ll say that much.”
“Yes, because your advice on me and my fiancés' sex life is much appreciated.” You hear his laugh.
“I’m only saying that if Issei came out in something like that, we wouldn’t be leaving the house for days-”
“Ew, ew, I’m hanging up now.” You abruptly end the phone call upon the images of your best friends doing things in certain outfits infiltrate your mind.
You sigh heavily, all the work you put into relaxing dissipating into nothing after a single phone call. You lay back on your bed, eyes trailing to the fabric still in your hand.
That thing is maddening I’ll say that much.
You wince at the fresh memory bouncing in your head, unable to think about anything else.
You sit up straight, a newfound sense of frustration and throw fashion’s version of the spawn of Satan back in its box.
You had more self-respect than this. You had more pride than this.
You would never, ever, put yourself in a position where someone could ever see you like that. It was gross, weird and something you’d never do.
Never, ever.
_________________________
You can’t believe you’re doing this.
Your head is bowed in shame as you slide the thigh highs on your legs. For as shady as it looked, the material felt surprisingly good.
Whether you liked it or not, Hanamakki knew his shit.
You gave the socks one final tug before standing up and slowly looking at yourself in the mirror, full of fear and distaste that you caved into the words of your idiotic friends.
Your eyes widened at what you saw. You quite literally couldn’t believe it was you.
The bra seemed to fit you perfectly, and you had half a nerve to call up Hanamakki and ask him how he got it so accurately, but a part of you felt it was better to not know the answer. The underwire fit directly into the contours of your breasts, knowing exactly how to push them up and close, creating more cleavage than you’d ever seen on your self. Of course your nipples were showing from the transparency of the fabric, and sheer lack of it showed the bumps of your buds, leaving nothing to the imagination. The underwear hugged tugged your hips downward in the magical ratio of accentuating your waist, really showing off your figure. The string that went directly down your ass also somehow managed to make it look nicer, and you aren’t even sure how.
All in all, you were shocked to say the least. You couldn’t take your eyes off yourself, and you completely understood what Matsukawa and Hanamakki were talking about.
But obviously that didn’t mean showing this to Hajime. You have no idea how he’d react, and honestly, you’re too much of a coward to try and find out.
But apparently, you wouldn’t have much of a choice.
You jump from your trance at the sound of a door opening and closing, your heart jumping up to your throat in pure anxiety.
“I’m home.” You hear Hajime call out from the living, and you immediately start to panic, the sound drying up in your throat. Truth be told you weren’t the best at handling things under pressure, and while there were dozens of possible solutions to your problem, none were coming to mind.
Your name is called in question, your fiancé used to having you welcome him home. You squeak, stumbling to the door.
“I’m in our room, Hajime! I’m just trying something on!” You yell out, all the while
hopping on one foot trying to remove the socks as quickly as possible.
“Oh? You went shopping?” Your heart sinks. On any normal occasion, you’d show him what you’d bought if you did go shopping, so it’d look even more suspicious to hole yourself in your room.
“Oh trust me, this isn’t something I’d ever buy. Ever.” You chuckle nervously.
“What is it?” His voice was clearer now, you could tell he was on the other side of the door. For some reason, you stop undressing.
This thing is maddening I’ll say that much. There’s a pause, but before you know it words are flowing out of your mouth. “Nah, you don’t want to know...” Hajime hears you mumble, embarrassed. He was intrigued.
“Then why would I ask?” A silence follows, consisting of you finding the courage to actually show him this abomination. “You have to promise to not get mad, okay?” Hajime raises a brow.
“...Alright?” You take a minute to get the nerve.
“Issei and Takahiro got us a gift for the engagement-Well, not really it was more of a joke, a gross joke-But I just got curious and-“ You realize that it’d be more embarrassing to explain it rather than show it, so you take a deep breath, hike up your socks and slowly turn the knob. You cautiously open the door to find Hajime standing there, eyes widening the second you came into full view, his breath stuttering. You couldn’t meet his eyes.
“Please don’t laugh.” You sigh out, defeated.
He didn’t say anything, not being able to see his face but peeking high enough to see his Adam’s apple bob.
A couple of seconds felt like hours, and when there was absolutely no response, with your anxiety rising, you quickly tried to diffuse the situation.
“This was clearly a mistake. I’ll just go take it off—“ As you go to turn around, Hajime grips your arm.
Almost desperately. Without a single word spoken. You turn back around, scared and confused.
“Hajime?” You’re barely able to get his name out before he kisses you. Hard enough to make you stumble back into your shared bedroom, almost falling over. He’s quick to catch you though, hands immediately reaching to grab your ass, pressing so firmly
you’re sure it’ll leave marks. His mouth hasn’t left yours, completely dominating you as his tongue licks yours, making your whole body shiver. Your bodies are pressed firmly against each other, with everything happening so fast you don’t realize he had pushed you to the bed.
When his lips finally leave yours, they don’t go very far, travelling down your neck only to lick and bite at it. You could already feel the bruising happening, trying to get a word out before his fingers rubbing over your thinly clothed nipples rendered you unable to talk, only letting out surprised moans and whimpers. He plucks at them until they’re at straining attention, so sensitive you can’t stop the quakes going through your body. You start to feel hot, feeling his warmth come off in sudden waves as you feel the pressure of his chest against your stomach, realizing that he’s travelling downwards.
You aren’t given any warning before the flat of his tongue licks you. You jump up, yelping your fiancé’s name, immediately gripping his hair. This only seems to spur him on, a growl ripping through his throat, vibrating against you as he licks and sucks at your clit with such intensity. You can barely hold yourself together, grip only getting tight and you only getting louder. When he started to point his tongue to make figure eights on your pearl, you swear you began to see stars.
“Hajime—“ You whined, not being coherent enough to say anything else, beginning to feel yourself get closer to climax. With Hajime most likely sensing this, he stops, giving you the first proper look at him.
He looked crazed. More crazed than you’ve ever seen him.
His hair was destroyed (mostly your doing), eyeing you like you were a piece of meat waiting to be devoured, his mouth covered in the essence of you.
“I didn’t say you could cum.” His voice was coarse, his adam’s apple bobbing intensely and you felt yourself shiver.
Something tells you you’re going to be sore in the morning. _________________________ Hours had passed, and the two of you had finally gone to bed. At around 6 in the morning when you both had been fucking since 8 pm.
Needless to say, you were both sleeping rather soundly, in each other’s arms as the afternoon sun shone through your bedroom windows, when Hajime stirred awake from a buzzing,
Groaning, he blinked his tired eyes as he annoyedly searched for the source of the noise, finding your phone on the nightstand, buzzing in a rhythmic tune, and seeing a rubber duck appear on the screen.
Immediately, he knew who it was.
He reached over you, grabbed the phone and answered, only slightly pissed off.
“What do you want?” Issei chuckled. “Man, your morning voice is really rough [Name],” Hajime only grumbled. “You woke me up and almost woke her up. What do you want?” He repeated. Course, Issei only asked the questions that were bound to annoy Hajime. A specialty of his.
“It’s almost 1 pm, what’re you guys doing sleeping in this late?” Hajime went to answer, before going red, looking down next to you sleeping peacefully, covered in hickeys and blemishes. All caused by him.
His silence was all Issei needed.
“Enjoying our gift? Maybe we’ll grab you guys a different pair for your honeymoon?” Hajime turned red, but of course he didn’t want Issei to know that.
“Shut up.” Was all Hajime said before hanging up. Issei chuckled, looking back to Takahiro, also very amused. “I told you they would. You owe me.”

not sure how it's possible but your work keeps getting prettier and prettier! can i ask what your process/method is for creation?
hello! sorry it's taken me a little to reply :S first of all, thank you!! that's very sweet ^-^ anyway, i'm not sure this will be particularly insightful :( but here goes nothing:
step 1: check the form for new submissions!
and then delete them all >:) ,,,but not without copying the information to a variety of spreadsheets. behold the madness:
Tumblr media
in this one i copy the information that was submitted as it is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
these are where i rearrange the information so a) my brain can understand it and b) so that i can copy/paste stuff while making graphics and at the time of posting.
the first one is for the captions i attach to every tumblr post, and the second is the alt text for the images. there's a third one for twitter, but it's the same as the tumblr one.
Tumblr media
and this one is where i keep track of all the steps i follow!
spreadsheet: copying the information from the forms
proofread: open the ao3 work to quickly check that someone didn't sneak explicit stuff or something like that
read and graphic: self-explanatory
captions and alt text: registering the information in the tables i showed before
twitter and tumblr: scheduling the posts to go up
(3 and 4 are inverted, but i'm too lazy to change it now x.x also, notice how they are (mostly) arranged in groups of three; before i even proofread things, i roughly decide the general aesthetic of the graphic: dark, pastel or colourful)
i do this almost every night. since people usually submit stuff in bulk, i often spend one or two hours simply sorting through the forms.
step 2: read the stories!
i usually read a story, then make the graphic immediately after. this is so i don't mix things up and the story is fresh in my very-forgetful mind~ while i read, i try to imagine things as they happen and pick at least one element i want to include in the graphic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
for instance, for this one (post), i wanted a duck somewhere. evidently, it ended up being a very minor detail but there they are! ducklings! :]
step 3: try to imagine the graphic
this is admittedly the hardest part tbh. i stick to my statement: i am not an artist. give me a minute and i will come up with a decently fleshed-out story idea. art or visual aspects are a different tale x.x some days my creativity leaves me altogether and i just stare into space for hours with absolutely no clue of how to make a graphic for one story.
hence why i rely so much on inspiration. some days i ravage my bookshelf, some days i google "spider book cover", some days i browse spotify and look at the album art and many days i end up scrolling through the canva templates section for hours until i see something that sparks an idea.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this one (post) is random. i was stumped on what to do and then i glanced at the video i had on the background and that was that.
i look at anything and everything for inspiration,,, again, i have no idea how artists do this x.x not to imply that they don't struggle (i'm sure they do), but i'm genuinely bad at this,,, especially since i try to make all the graphics as unique as possible; i like flowers, they are pretty and go well with most stories, but i think it'd be quite boring if everything i made had flowers :S
step 4: make the graphic
anyway, when i (finally) have an idea, i go on canva and get down the first element i had in mind, or the colour i want to use, or the general composition,,, anything. sometimes the only thing i've thought about is the text.
and then i just go from there, often with no plan or ending idea in mind :S
some graphics are simple and i can get them done in two hours, some are complex and i get them done in ten hours. perfectionism is how my brain is wired and i always feel like i need to bring things to perfection, so i tweak everything a lot even if i know i could get away with leaving some stuff as it is.
alas, i try to have fun during the process and sometimes i surprise myself with making something i am super proud of!
Tumblr media
like this one! (post). as you can see, there are a bunch of layers and details. i went in with literally no plan but i kept adding stuff until it felt good :]
it's not as simple as just sticking some of canva's assets together, though. i often have to do a lot of editing. everything in that tunnel, for instance, was just lineart (?) with no option to give it a background colour, so i had to go in with my limited artsy knowledge and paint things until they looked the way i wanted.
Tumblr media
these are all the different canva assets i used in that one + a finn silhouette. i'm trying not to use too many silhouettes because, like flowers, it's easy and i often gravitate to that but no >:( i shan't fall prey to the impulses.
speaking of silhouettes,,, there must be an easier way to do it, but the software i use (gimp; it's free x.x) is a little confusing to me so i just end up "tracing" over the outline of photos i like.
in the process, i tend to go all,,, frankenstein.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i chopped off finn's arm in the first one :( but then i gave him a jacket for the second one because his silhouette looked cold ^-^ (also gave noah will-hair). third one i just,,, mirrored the other arm x.x 1st story || 2nd story || 3rd story
other minor changes i often have to do is recolouring stuff and the like
Tumblr media
again, these are edited with gimp and i'm sure there are weird errors, but i felt the story needed something softer (post).
some elements i actually find from other free source (?) websites, but it's rare.
last, but not least, sometimes i do try my hand at art x.x i'm not sure i'm good in the slightest, but it's been somewhat fun to try. i tend to look at artists i like, mainly for colour palettes because i never struggle with the graphics but i get stuck when trying to draw :S
Tumblr media Tumblr media
for instance, the colours in this one (post) are all inspired by the second artwork in the tweet.
step 5: double check before posting
confession: yesterday i forgot to add the author's name to a graphic. there are at least three graphics in this account that are missing the "ratings" altogether. sometimes, there are minuscule mistakes that could've been easily spotted and fixed and i just,,, didn't see them.
i often catch a million things like that while making the graphics, but things do slip at times and i end up thinking about them for weeks x.x so i double and triple check everything and i never catch everything, but i try :S
i try to get my brother to help me a little, but the dingus always says everything is okei and goes back to his shenanigans >:( he is an actual artist so it's all the more frustrating but alas, there's nothing i can do about it x.x
step 6: schedule things for posting
uh,, not much to say about this. i just add the graphics, copy the information from the spreadsheets i showed you, then add all the links and tags and leave things be :]
except,,, i don't. i move on to something else and then i go back to check for mistakes and i keep looking for errors and i sometimes change things last minute x.x
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the little detail in the corner where mike is screaming? that was added a minute the thing went up,,, (post)
it's uh,, overwhelming. i know i overthink way too much (about my writing, too), but it's been ten years of getting anxious about these things so i'm not sure it'll stop anytime soon :(
the little comments you guys leave really help though! so thank you for that :]
step 7: post the thing and "rest"
again, i continue to search for errors after i post, but unless it's a big thing (like the aforementioned "i forgot to add the author's name" moment from yesterday) i force myself to leave the post as it is. my brain hates me for it, but it's the one thing i manage to do to ease my anxiety x.x
so, with the post up and big errors mended, i get to rest! for a bit! and then i have to do it all over again!
this entire process (step 1 excluded) takes around 4-6 hours (or more) so by the time i post something, i'm already late at making the next graphic :S hence why i usually take a couple free days every few graphics.
i've also been really sick lately (covid + randomly passing out because of overarching health issues) so things take a bit longer :(
it's fun though! i'd never tried my hand at any visual stuff and some graphics are admittedly lackluster, but sometimes i surprise myself with some very pretty things i make :]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
in addition to the ones i've already shared, i'm quite proud of these graphics~ 1st story || 2nd story || 3rd story || 4th story || 5th story || 6th story
plus, i get to talk to a lot of nice people, read/share wonderful stories, and more importantly, do something nice for authors! so it's all worth it, i think :]
Tumblr media
random, but i'm not sure i'll ever get to use this little guy so i want to share him :D
anyway, i could continue to procrastinate for quite a while but i have to (gues what!) go make today's graphics x.x shoutout to all the authors whose stories i randomly featured here; please check all their stories as they are all amazing.
@itsromeowrites, @ghoulsanderson, @wiseatom, @eggo-owl, @smoosnoom, @byeler, @bookinit02, @lilacline001, @astrobei, @voulezvulcan, @sevensided
i'm going to take a nap now. apologies if, after all this, i didn't even answer your question.

He's a biter, you know.
details and un-shaded version (and also lineart version) under the cut:
I meant to draw this for peterfel week and made the sketch in like, literally February but didn't get around to finally finishing it until now… lol… well it's done now!!!
i dunno if i love how the dark shaded version turned out...
Tumblr media
These are my base colors, but I guess I just felt like spending a couple hours with color overlays and fucking around to make the final moody blue version lol
as an aside the bokeh is a brush by Bunabi/Eriart which you can find as a freebie on her patreon - i saw it and was like omg wait i could use that
...the buildings are also brushes (well the windows are)
anyway here's the lineart
Tumblr media
I also used a chain brush of course cause I ain't fuckin drawin all of that lmao —I used a brush from this set, they're pretty nice
Tumblr media
😻 there she is oh i also used a diamond stamp 😂 the lesson to learn about me is if i can use a brush for something that would otherwise be tedious and it looks decent i will because i am lazy. unless i only have like a Single instance then I'll usually just draw it but when I have more than one it's either brushes or copy pasting lol
Tumblr media
Felicia's outfit is a mix of sources, inspired by both her original costume, with the furry chest (in this case unzippable) as well as obviously more modern sexy latex outfits and so on... but i did NOT give her cleavage to her bellybutton cause I think that's dumb. though. to be fair in this case it would be more justifiable 😂
i love drawing her long long hair (angel medina's fault tbh) (sensational spider-man my beloved...)
Tumblr media
rawr 😼
he's trying very hard not to laugh 😂 but he's into it, he's having fun
the muzzle ended up being like multiple designs from photo refs mashed into one so idk... how realistic it is other than the nose-forehead piece which was the same on both my refs. admittedly it looks a little loose but 🤷 still looks nice 😏
Tumblr media
claws 😏
I also drew Peter in the classic suit, which I don't normally do, but I was doing more of the comic book look here instead of my own AUs and so on lol
Tumblr media
he broke the cuffs so he could touch her butt 🙄 god peter don't you know how much real leather BDSM gear costs (don't tell him)
this new pen tablet is a lot of fun, it's way more comfortable to draw on and the increased pressure sensitivity makes it a lot easier to draw my favorite thing to draw: peter's arm hair 😂😂
the only weird thing is if I press down medium or harder while I'm drawing it... creaks? which is very funny, my old pen did not do that. it really is weirdly like using a felt tip pen or a very fine point marker. except it's plastic.
Tumblr media
shoes. it may be classic style but I can never resist giving Peter sporty soles lol I know some people hate that but I just think it looks nice and I can handwave the sticking away as electrostatic forces or something. negative charge. electron transfer. blah blah blah. (in my AU i decided Peter has both electrostatic sticking that encompasses his whole body and ALSO adhesive secretions so if he gets his hands and feet bare i guess he has double the sticking power lol)
shaded versions just cause
Tumblr media
tits
i really like drawing latex lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
also if you're wondering why i didn't give peter a boner to match his red face well i have an out and it's that long ago i decided he wears a dance belt under the costume so as not to inflict the outline of his dick and balls on the people of NYC on a daily basis, and dance belts are first of all designed as mentioned to smooth out and hide that outline but also you wear them with everything pointing north and the waistband is like 5 inches wide so i don't think he has to worry about his little buddy escaping LOL (though I'm sure it's possible it would be more visible... i didn't bother trying to google it lol)
really i just didn't feel like trying to draw a boner 😂

🍓🌵🥤🔪🪲 for the ask game!
As ever, you are so great for asking. ;D
Rubs hands. This is such a fun list.
Strawberry: I started reading fanfic quite late in the game. I was craving more Merlin actually and so found fanfic.net back in 2009. Old, I know. xD
So I have been reading it for a while, but I never had any intention to write mostly because time constraints. Flash forward to all the Covid shutdowns of 2020. I was at home and for whatever reason I rewatched Star Wars again. And then Piett walked in and I saw him with fresh eyes. So I began hunting for fanfic about him and there was precious little. Literally, that first story wrote me I didn't write it. The feeling was like being dragged behind a high speed train and I was writing for HOURS. Posted a chapter every day. xD And you know quite well how it feels to put a new baby story out there and see what happens. Direct shot of serotonin to my brain when people began reading and then COMMENTING. I was hooked. And haven't stopped though my pace has slowed considerably. xD
Playlist I love---See while I totally listen to music, the playlist I have is too massive because I am old and lazy and just keep piling things into the liked list. xD But here---this one I found recently and it is GREAT for angst stuff, or pining, or slow burn, etc. :D
Recommend an author: Ok the best Star Wars I've ever read was hands down Meet the Skywalkers by frodogenic, which focuses on Piett interacting both with Vader and his kids AND grandkids. It had the full range of MASTERFUL emotion and I was laughing and crying throughout. A close second which features Piett and Veers is This Time of Year, by impishgrin. It hits their friendship so hard and so well and this author gave Myra Veers her name and the backstory I assume to be canon. :D
Weirdest topic I've researched: Ha. A lot of contenders there, though admittedly most of them were random and niche as opposed to outright weird. I'll settle on investigating the plumbing situation in the American West of the 1880s. xD I was trying to figure out if any homes in the plains would have been able to have running indoor water. And lo---yes they could if one was wealthy enough.
Aha--the beetle. Devious, my friend. All right, here we are:
Damn it. There was no other opportunity to speak to her, and I was haunted throughout the rest of the feast by the desperate fight the man had put up. He he’d had no chance, no hope, of truly escaping. But he’d fought so hard… My chest hurt as I thought of him even now.
Decided to test myself and write in first person for the first time. :D
Thank you so much for this!! :D

Hi! I love your fics and I truly adore your characterization of Felix! My question is, do you think canon!Felix is that much of an airhead? I mean we know that he's seen doing shit like showing his doodles to his cousin grinning like it was the most amusing thing in the world, and we've seen him just sit under a tree with his broken bike hoping(!) for a higher being to maybe save his ass(?) etc etc. But -and this question might seem really ignorant (I'm sorry!) but I'm not familiar with the west's educational system at all - aren't you supposed to be smart to be accepted to Oxford? Or at least have the grades to show up for it? I mean I know Felix's family is important and all and maybe Catton donations are a Thing, but I was under the impression that he wouldn't be completly academically helpless. Like farleigh for example. He seems be intellectually very capable albeit admittedly, he grew up in different circumstances so he probably had show that he deserved what was given to him (although he did get expelled from multiple schools for his deranged behavior lol) Anyways! Love airheaded Felix with all my heart! And I love you for your genius writing!!
OMG hello anon!!! thank you for the question I'm always so shook when I get questions like this because I'm like,,,, people care what I think?? omg.....so I am very honored
SO! I think canon Felix is NOT an airhead, or at least not as much of an airhead as LAWS Felix is. I think WIPIP Felix is probs WAY closer to actual Felix.
I def think he's probably the level of stupid your average college boy is HAHAHA which means he's not....stupid....just dumb.....AKA I think he's probably just immature, cocky, and has never had to try that hard to get anything he's ever wanted.
Oxford is DEFINITELY hard to get into and you need good grades. I'm American (so obvi UK folks def probs know more about this than me), but I view it how we view the Ivy League, which are like our most prestigious universities and super hard to get into. BUT. There is a caveat that gives you an advantage in getting into these schools: Legacy students. I'm pretty sure this isn't as much of a thing for Oxford (just telling from looking it up) and it's more of an American practice, but to put it simply is that if your parent attended said university, you get a bit of an advantage for admissions. Yeah. Isn't that gross???
SO I kind of think about it that way: Sir James probably attended Oxford and they probably made some hefty donations, giving Felix a bit more leeway than most admissions would get. I think Felix probably has gotten pretty good grades when he tries, but I also think he gets away with a LOT more than an average student. Some nepo baby privilege fr fr. We also learn he's running late for his tutorial and SKIPPED the week prior from the whole bike scene, so just using that as a reference kind of tells us he's not the ~best~ student. I def think he's probably pretty smart though, just privileged and lazy.
And then Farleigh, on the other hand, I think DOES have to try. Even though he's supported by the Cattons, I don't think he benefits from the same privilege as the Cattons.
But LAWS Felix.......he is such a himbo.........true Gen Z'er who has no attention span because of TikTok (I say this as a Gen Z'er).....I don't think he's stupid, just that he kinda gets by in Oxford. For his grades before Oxford, I think he probably got a lot of little grade "bumps" from teachers. BUT I also think that maybe he gets accommodations? Here in the USA, if you have dyslexia or dyscalculia or other learning disorders you get a bit more leeway with testing and whatnot. By leeway I mean additional time, rooms where you test alone, etc. For LAWS Felix I have the canon of Felix dealing with Dyslexia/Dyscalculia/ADHD. He's fr trying his best my poor boy
BUT OBVIOUSLY all of this is just my opinion and what I think!!! I'm also an American, so a lot of my info is based on my experience in the American education system. Thank you so much for the question <333

First regular Halo RvB oneshot. Requester was on Wattpad. I saw this as you're Sarge's adopted Daughter for age reasons. You're an adult in this, of course.
I really enjoy Dexter Grif, lol- Kept it general for when this takes place although it's implied to be before his sister arrives in Season 5 as it was not specified.
Approval
Pvt. Dexter Grif x Sarge's Daughter! Reader
Synopsis: Sarge thought it was a good idea to bring more firepower to the red team. What no one expected was Sarge to bring his daughter in. Imagine Grif's dilemma when he finds himself falling for you, the daughter of the man who he loves to irritate.
Content Warnings: Kissing, Forbidden relationship, Swearing, Other than that it's cute.
Tumblr media
"You can't be serious...." Simmons sighs, looking over to Grif in disappointment.
"I am serious, Simmons!" Grif huffs, leading to Simmons groaning.
"Sarge would have your head if he caught you with her, y'know that?" Simmons muses. "I mean, she only joined Red a few months ago and you're already-"
"Not so loud, dude! What if she hears? That or Sarge!?"
"Doesn't sound like my problem."
"Okay, Kiss Ass."
Grif sighs and walks away from his friend. Maybe it was a mistake to consult Simmons about how he feels. Although he certainly wasn't saying it to Donut.
Truth is, Grif hasn't been feeling too well emotionally ever since he met Sarge's daughter, (Y/N). You were a bit younger than Grif and so unlike your father. Grif always assumed you weren't blood related because of that.
Sarge was so... Sarge. Ruthless and commanding, although it was fun to annoy him. You on the other hand? You made Grif's heart flutter.
You were so much nicer to him than Sarge. You even asked Sarge to go easier on him at one point. For that he was grateful.
You and Grif made surprising friends due to the relations with Sarge. Although you made him happy and he seemed to also make you happy. He never thought he'd find someone like you on the team.
Over the months he's known you his feelings only grew stronger. The only issue was expressing them. Which was hard to do for one big reason.
Sarge, your father. There's no way Sarge would approve of you dating him. That thought both angered and pained Grif.
"You good, Grif?" You ask softly, your voice shaking him from his thoughts. Grif's visor looks towards you. If only you knew....
"Ah... I guess, yeah. Simmons was giving me trouble again."
You sigh, irritated. He could read your emotions just by your tone.
"Wish Simmons and Sarge gave you more respect, Grif." You say, upset.
"Do you really mean that? They've always been like this-"
"Of course! Atleast I have the decency to treat you with respect. You're a pretty good guy, Grif."
Oh his heart ached....
"That means a lot...."
"(Y/N)!"
Grif freezes when he hears your name being called. Great, it's Sarge.
"Yes, dad?"
"Why are you talking with Grif?"
"I happen to enjoy talking with Grif?"
"He's a bad influence, (Y/N). Lazy as all hell...."
"Hey!"
"He's fun to talk to, dad."
"I would rather you talked with Simmons if anyone here."
"Simmons is a Kiss Ass."
Grif laughs softly at your comment, you really did have his back. Maybe he could give this a try...
"Language, (Y/N). Simmons is a good man."
"Say what you will, dad."
You snicker before walking away. Desperate to get out of Sarge's gaze and talk with you more, Grif follows. If he could just get you alone....
"You seem off, Grif."
Grif feels you put a hand on his shoulder. Your touch is comforting, he feels he can do this.
"Admittedly... a little?"
"Is it my father?"
"That's part of it."
"Yeah, I get that. He's just so..."
"Him?"
"Yeah."
Grif sits down in the base with you. It's just you and him in private. He breathes in before speaking.
"It's been a hard few months but I felt I should tell you this."
"Mhm?"
"(Y/N)..." Grif sits closer. "I like you, like, more than just a comrade."
You look at him. It's hard to tell your expressuon through your visor. But what you did next said all he needed to know.
You shift closer before pulling him into your embrace. You both say nothing, cherishing the moment. Grif could tell you felt the same.
"I had a feeling you'd say that." You say, pulling away enough to tug at your helmet. Grif was left awestruck upon seeing your face. It took you tapping his helmet to snap him out of it.
"Come on, you shy?"
"(Y/N)...." Grif says in shock before removing his helmet. Once off, you wrap your arms around him and kiss him. Grif pauses before kissing back.
He was admittedly not that experienced. Yet neither were you. That didn't change the fact you both were enjoying yourselves.
It felt nice for the both of you. Wrapped around each other and sharing a very intimate moment. It felt meant to be....
Soon you both pull away, looking at each other in bliss. You couldn't be happier.
"God I love you...."
"Same to you, Grif...."
"(Y/N) and Grif!"
"Ah shit...."
You both freeze upon hearing Sarge's voice.
"You have some explaining to do!"

Disney Month :Talespin: Plunder and Lightning
Tumblr media
for this 18th installment of Disney month we are gonna look at the 4 part pilot to one of the most unusal yet beloved spin offs ever ,Talespin
In this group of 1990 TV episodes,Baloo (Ed Gilbert) is a lazy pilot who has lost his business to a businesswoman Rebecca  Cunningham(Sally Struthers),but with the help of an orphan Kit Cloudkicker (RJ Williams) ,plans to buy back the business with a stone that is being pursued both by ruthless business man Shere Khan (Tony Jay ) and sky pirate Don Karnage(Jim Cummings )
Soooooo the premise of this show is....Friggin weird. It is a spin off of the Disney classic Jungle Book....But not really ,cause it doesnt take place in India ,the animals are fully anthropomorphic, and it only uses three characters from the Jungle Book:Baloo the Bear ,Shere Khan the Tiger and Louie the Orangutan .It then places these characters in this action adventure series with planes and pirates ....This is a weird mix of things.....And looking into it....Thats cause this was a last minute pitch ,the creators were struggling to think of a show,Jungle Book was rereleased so they wanted to do somthing with Baloo and combined it with a hodge podge of other influences like the TV shows Tales of the Gold Monkey ,the manga Hikotei Jedai, the classic film Casablanca and of all things the hit TV show Cheers with the character of Rebecca .BAsically the creators threw a bunch of stuff they like in a blender and combined it.....Considering that is similar to my own creative process ,I respect this alot .It paid off cause this show was a hit and is considered a cartoon classic
As for my own relationship to the show,I loved this show as a kid.Now admittedly it has been a long time since I have seen it and all I remebered was Baloo was a pilot,Shere Khan was a businessman and there were sky pirate and I dont know if I ever saw the pilot so I went into this semi blind ......I kind of love this show and I mi9ght watch more
As a spin off,I maintain on the surface this is weird...But it does work cause while the setting has changed ,the characters are mostly in tact .Yeah Louie has been transformed entirerly into a good guy and at least in these episodes Khan has lost his sadistic playfulness ,but Louie is still loads of fun and Shere Khan is still a feared intimidating character, and I like the roles they have been placed in ,Louie is well suited to be the laid back bartender , and I get kind of a kick out of the ruthless apex predator being made into a cutthroat capitalist .I was a little bummed Khan didnt have much to do in these episodes ,but hey this is setting up the premise and we already have another villain I will talk about later . Baloo is completely in character ,even though he is now a pilot,he is still the slacker papa bear with a heart of gold and I like that the at least these episodes focus on the dad quality of Baloo.WE dont have Mowgli here,so the father and son relationship is between Baloo and Kit ,and they have an adorable father son dynamic .Also Baloo weirdly transitions well into being a reluctant action hero .Also I must praise the cast for the Jungle Book characters cause they are alll really good.Jim Cummings does a very good Louis Prima impression as King Louie (SO good it caused some legal kerfuffles ) ,Tony Jay voice is eerily simlar to George Sanders that it borders on spooky and I am glad that for over a decade he became the official voice of Shere Khan in Jungle Book material ,but the big praise has to go to Ed Gilbert ,who listened to recording to Phil Harris and practicved for hours to get it right and was a perfect sucessor to Harris (Now Harris was alive when Talespin was in production, and they used him initially , but he was 85 ,he had lost some of his comedic timing, they couldnt afford to cheffuer him to the studio ,and they realized that he couldnt do a full 65 episode series ,so replaced him with Gilbert which I think was a good call as much as I wouldve loved to have heard him play Baloo on more time )
The new characters are decent ,I'm not a fan of Wildcat, who is Baloos mechanic , but he isnt in these episodes a lot .Molly,Rebeccas young daughter is a bit of a Scrappy for fans but I thought she was OK .REbecca I thought might be annoying but I thought she is a good foil for Baloo .Of the new heroes my favorite is Kit ,whohas a good dynamic with Baloo and an actually very fascinating back story
However the BEST character is theshows main villain,Don Karnage ....Who might be one of the greatest cartoon villains ever ,and I am tempted to watch ALL his episodes .A wolf air pirate ,who is both an intimidating threat due to how cunning he is while still being incredibly funny , due to his very flamboyant egocentric personality .Jim Cummmings, who is doing of all things ,a Desi Arnez impression ,and it is one of the funniest performances I have ever heard in animation .Also he gets a villain song and it is delightful
Animation, like all animation back then, depended on the episode.First and third episode have some great animation .Character designs in general are solid ,and the action and comedy are really good
My only complaint is part of me wishes they used mor Jungle Book characters (Maybe have Kaa as a recurring villain or Bagheera as a supporting character ) but hey thats what fanfics are fore
I think this 4 parter sets up the series well ,and I definately wanna watch more .Good set of episodes

A New Soul
Ryoutei Academy.... a school for the rich and privilege. Being only open at night, gave the opportunity for students who could not attend morning classes, to attend the night prior. The success rate of being accepted was a little over 15%, while those who had the money to splurge were lucky to be accepted. The Golden pillars contrasted with the whites of the walls and beige floors, the uniforms kept neatly pressed and cleaned. A humbling expirence for commoners who attended tours, in their wish to ever be that 15% of getting accepted.
Today was like any other day, the clouds in the night sky formed heavy Cumulonimbus cloud, which appeared to be almost menacing.
(It looks as if its going to storm)
The teacher late to their own class, greeted the students in open arms, soaked to the brim. A smile plastered on his face, as he urged for them to settle down. Today, was a English lesson and by god it already felt like such a chore. A normal day, covered with yet heavier clouds, though something felt off.
The lights in the room began to flicker, one students phone rang put of the blue and once he anwsered a mysterious voice in static appeared. He quickly hung up, turning his head towards his colleague, a male who shared a sickly shade of green which paled into lavender tips. He assumed it was his mother, but with how powerful the reception had been it could have just been anyone.
"Turn off your phones and class please settle down." The teacher reprimanded, turning towards his desk. The lights began to flicker once more, there was no possible way, he could teach like this, he would have to dismiss class right? Unbeknownst to him, something more put of the ordinary was in his presence. The doors to Ryoutei Academy flung open, the wind was just this strong....
The commotion altered the teachers and nearby students, as a girl who was covered in dirt and muck, appeared on school grounds. Her eyes had such a translucent glow, brown in some lighting and almost redish purple in the next, the hues were caused by a lack of pigment, the blood behind her eyes gave a lovely glow. Her skin almost as pale as the white paper that was used to tests, which contrasted with her get black hair.
She seemed off and quiet confused, the human in question could not understand where she was, delirious in her state of mind. "Please help me...." she called out, her eerie tone while softly spoken, hauntingly spooked some of the students.

[ Admittedly startled, Ryuuto's eyes widened at the sight before him and his classmates, the unknown individual leaving many speechless, and many more frightened. ]
[ At her pleas for help, however, only one or two students exchanged glances and offered up a simple "H-Hey, who are you!?". Ryuuto, whilst not an overly courageous teenager, nor necessarily anything more than stunned by her presence, stood from his desk. ]
. . .
[ He didn't speak yet, but did may a few movements toward her. He stood a handful of paced, cautious strides. Doing so, he observed her eyes and their shifting hues, and took note of the mud that clung to her figure. Clearing his throat, now. . . Ryuuto finally spoke, curiosity laced in his tone. ]
. . .Are you alright?

A-Z of Favorite Fictional Ladies C is for: Clara “Oswin” Oswald
Tumblr media
Imagine my surprise the first time I got on the internet to check out the DW fandom, and discovered that a good portion of it cherished an intense dislike toward Clara Oswald. (Really, the surprise is my own fault. The internet tends to only like strong female characters in theory; in general, whenever it’s presented with a loud, bossy girl who’s clever enough to reasonably obtain most everything she wants through a combination of wits and self-made luck, it labels her either a bitch or a Mary Sue, no exceptions. while characters who bitch for no reason whatsoever are given free passes by fandoms and actual Mary Sues are hailed as Empowering To Little Girls! But I digress.)
I, however, am most definitely not the internet, and I disagree with all the Clara haters in the fandom. Clara is either my favorite or my second-favorite companion in Doctor Who, and I’m not embarrassed at all about that. In fact, if anything, it mystifies me how often I see people who praise characters like River, Astrid, Mme. Pompadour, and Jenny labeling Clara annoying and/or a lazy plot device. I mean, I’m a to-each-their-own type of person, but in what world is Clara or any non-villain Doctor Who character more annoying, contrived, or plot-device-y than River? And what makes any of those other characters better than the nanny/teacher who argues with the Doctor more than any character since my dearly beloved (but admittedly abrasive) Donna Noble?
Honestly, I don’t get it. I love Clara, and there is a less-than-charitable part of me that makes certain judgments about the confidence levels of people who despise her but, you know, that’s another essay. This is one in praise of my short little bossy bestie with an ego that rivals the size of the TARDIS’ interior, and an even bigger heart.
 Why she’s my girl:
So. Again. It may bug the heck out of everyone else, but I love the fact that Ms. Clara’s character shifts drastically between S7-S8 from thwarted dreamer with sweet-but-fierce-but-kind-of-scared tendencies to seasoned, bossy-bordering-on-shrewish traveler who becomes so angry and terrified (and all the angrier because she’s terrified) at the sudden loss of control when a lot of unforeseen changes are suddenly heaped on her that she cries in the middle of negotiating for her life.
Hate her all you want, call her ‘convenient,’ ‘flat,’ or ‘a walking plot device’ all you want, but Clara is the best all-around companion in ten seasons of Doctor Who, and it’s not even close. If Martha had gotten more than one season I’d probably be making a different argument but here we are and yes I’m still bitter about how dirty they did my girl. Justice for Martha and a pox on that witch from The Family Blood who challenged my baby’s medical knowledge. She’s quick-thinking, decisive, stubborn, kind-hearted, loyal, domineering, and a delightful, more-than-is-strictly-healthy amount of conceited—in essence, a natural foil for the Doctor. She strong-arms her way into the role of conscience when the Doctor forgets human constructs like sympathy and compassion exist, and even the usual ditch-the-companion-because-their-life-is-in-danger-if-they-stay tactics can’t get rid of her…she has to be tricked into leaving the eleventh Doctor, and it doesn’t even work the first time.
The TARDIS dislikes her at the outset, and she retaliates by calling it a “grumpy old cow.” She is the companion who finally mentions the first thing I would mention upon being told to get inside a random blue box—in all seriousness, why, why did it take 6½ seasons for someone to be like, “What exactly are you planning to do with me inside that box, because…?”
She is a born adventurer and loves being in charge, but is willing to put her heart’s desires on the back burner to help those she loves. She is often afraid, but hates being afraid so much that she combats the fear by standing up and confronting it almost recklessly. She cares deeply for the Doctor and keeps him on track, whether it’s reminding him to focus in their early days together, or reminding him he can’t just run roughshod over people in their later days together. She resents the fact he seems to take her company for granted, but can’t stop the part of her that gets excited every time she hears the TARDIS arriving. She pranks—and has allegedly kissed!!!—Jane Austen. She stays with the twelfth Doctor even after he runs off and abandons her multiple times in the days following his regeneration because her Doctor—the fez-and-bowtie-loving Doctor she trusted her life to—asks her to please not leave him. She struggles to balance her tame, ordinary life-commitments with her dangerous, exciting life in the TARDIS, and finds herself caught between the life she wants to lead and the life sense is telling her she ought to lead.
I could go on about her for days, but the essence of it all is this: Clara is loyal, clever, and determined. She is never fearless, but she frequently pretends to be, and beneath her calm, cocky, put-together exterior lurks a girl who will always stay longer than she probably should because she is still not really over all the people she’s loved who’ve left her.
Favorite quotes:
Too many to count, but some of the ones I keep coming back to are:
“Is this what you do? You just…crook your finger, and people just jump in your snog-box and fly away?”
“I am the boss.”
“And do you know what? Run. Run, you clever boy. And remember me.”
“Why do I have to be the witch?”
“Hang on. Three of you in one room, and none of you thought to try the door?”
“Are you trying to scare me? Well, ‘cause I’m already bloody terrified of dying, and I’ll enjoy a lot of pain for a very long time before I give up the information that’s keeping me alive; how long have you got?”
“I am not a control freak!”
“That’s the look you get when I’m about to slap you!”
“Is that what I look like from the back?” [“It’s fine.”] “I was thinking it was good.”
“Speak for me again, and I’ll detach something from you.”
“Let me be brave.”

[ dreamy ] sender and receiver indulge in a handful of slow, romantic kisses ahem. make it gay as hell buddy yeehaw
𝐃𝐈𝐅𝐅𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐊𝐈𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐒
"Kissed? O-Of course I have."
Little louder than the guttering candlelight that illuminated Alfred's quarters, a troubled retort rose in defense of Rafal's pride. Close enough not only to train together, but also to share a bed, the topics that passed between the human and dragon admittedly spanned an endless number. Perhaps it was to be expected that they would eventually stumble upon this. Love. Touches. Kisses. Falling beneath the umbrella of over-friendly activities that one scarcely admitted, known only to two people and the furtive night that proved their sole witness.
Rafal in that regard had never once kissed anyone. Never once placed his trust in another being to such a degree that he left himself vulnerable. Nevertheless, he felt offended that his experience on the matter would even be questioned, and so rolled over to face his friend: "The length of my existence spans hundreds, even thousands, of years. It would be beyond foolish to expect that I haven't."
But the words sounded unconvincing even to his ears much less to another's. "If you do not believe me—" Determined to strengthen his lie, he raised himself onto his elbows above the other man, then lowered until the tips of his hair brushed ticklishly against fair cheeks. "—then let a taste of my skill change your mind."
Irritation. A desire to prove himself. Even faint curiosity toward the ideal. All those things pressed his lips to Alfred's with an impulse equivalent to his resolve. In truth, Rafal had not really planned for anything beyond that first step. Nor had he expected the number of dominoes that would fall quickly after the first.
He squeezed his eyes shut at an unexpectedly amorous initial pace, one that fell not to either prince's reins but to those of their inexperience. Slow and measured. Almost careful. Mouths rubbing together warm and dry for the first minute, a little wetter as time naturally progressed, then colder for it whenever they drew apart to breathe. An activity that demanded total concentration, leveling two hearts on the same plane of understanding no matter their differences- the discovery of kissing was found enriching in that way. He savored it. He wanted more.
Sucking in a breath, he pulled away from the royal, gauged the emptiness left behind- the pleasing sight of his bared throat- then kissed him again. And again. The texture of his mouth evoked used linen. Smooth yet made charming by the occasional imperfection, a scratchy patch of chapped skin here and there. Chasing that feeling, he had only intended for one kiss yet their tender exchange drew him into countless more, a lazy cycle that began at Alfred and ended at him too—
Startled, Rafal ripped himself away with a wide-eyed expression, discomfited by the black hole that had swallowed up his thoughts. "Make no mistake. I am not interested in humans, men, or otherwise. Actions speak louder than words, t-that is all." His voice wavered faintly as he turned on his side. More mortifying than the lapse in control with Prince Alfred was the fact that he had enjoyed it.

As I mentioned earlier today, Goodreads posted its Top 100 Romances of the Past Three Years today.
Some things to know:
A) Goodreads is not a tastemaker explicitly--it's a logging site. But nonetheless, we know that Goodreads is references by publishers, authors, agents, industry people far and wide, because it is the dominant book logging site. (Plug for The Storygraph, which isn't perfect either but allows you to log .25, .5, and .75 ratings, and get more granular about the vibe of a book as you rate it. Its CEO and co-founder is a Black woman, Nadia Odunayo, as a note.)
B) Goodreads is owned by Amazon, which, as the Big Five publishers have made abundantly clear recently, has a direct connection to many of the book sales made today. Take that and run with it.
C) This list is theoretically not something Goodreads arbitrarily selected via staffers, it's true. They're following the "trends" of their users. But that... is not an exact science, as several books here would not necessarily fit the parameters of a romance (which, admittedly, are subjective to an extent).
Furthermore, these books are largely traditionally published--some self-published books are here, though a few were originally self-published before getting picked up by a trad publisher. This is seems odd, as romance has notoriously boomed in recent years within indie channels.
And, let's call a spade a spade here--these books are more often than not, white and/or cishet.
Another thing I noticed about the list as I went through it, real-time recording my dumb little reactions, was the repetition? And I get that Goodreads is saying "this is what we noticed most", but let's be real--these lists can potentially be great promotional tools. It just seems sloppy to compile it in this way and go "welp, that's on the Goodreads users!" Like, mostly my (very arbitrary and shallow) beef with this list is how lazy it is. But then again, it's February and these are romance novels....
What I find to be a particular bummer is how the books clearly don't reflect.... what hardcore romance readers are into? Which, I guess it wouldn't. Goodreads is more general, and that's fine. But damn. Lots of contemporary romances, a handful of historicals, a few fantasy or fantasy-lite romances here and there. No monsterfucking books? Really? In 2023? Come on now.
I think the data here is skewed, likely--but I'm not saying it's completely off. What I am saying is that this list has had zero effort put into it, and it's not so much about what romance readers are reading, but what everyone (which includes people who Don't Read Romance but will Read That Special Book That Totally Isn't A Romance) is reading. So. Remember that grain of salt. And remember how this is affecting publishing, and how self-publishing really, truly could be the future of progressive (and for that matter, edgy and groundbreaking) romance.
Anyway, here's my painstaking, needless recording of thoughts.
People We Meet On Vacation by Emily Henry.
Rating: DNF
Thoughts: I started this, but quickly stopped it upon getting wind of the lack of heat--I'm a reluctant reader of friends to lovers in general, but when it hits it hits. However, in order for it to hit for me, it must have.... extreme heat. I don't personally enjoy a slow, chaste build in friends to lovers. I will also add that I've heard about some issues with this one? In regards to a tragic "my girlfriend had an abortion" backstory?
The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood.
Rating: 4/5.
Thoughts: This one has gotten a lot of shit for being a converted Reylo fic, which I personally find either innocuous or delightful depending on the day. It doesn't reinvent the wheel--it's a fun grumpy/sunshine, I like the STEM backdrop, it doesn't have as many sex scenes as I'd like but the one it does have is quite long, quite hot, and has things I've seen some naively deride (he puts her whole mosquito bite boob in his mouth--trust, this can be done) (he eats... his own cum out of her, it's a closed loop system) (squelching, ewwww!!! Or uh... squelching... tell me what page that's on...) while I find them fun. I don't know why this book is promoted as the hottest thing ever because it's not, but I also don't know why it's controversial. It's pretty easy to see why it took off.
Beach Read by Emily Henry.
Rating: 4/5.
Thoughts: Maybe I'd lower this to a 3/5 in hindsight? Not sure. I read this pre-Storygraph (for me). On there, it would probably be a 3.5/5. It's very pleasant and I enjoyed the romance for what it was, but it is... very much romance-lite. I'd call it a romance, but it's for people who want to say they're reading it for the daddy issues when they're reading it for the hot author guy. It's nice!
Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover.
Rating: Have not read
Thoughts: I tend to wonder if anything Colleen writes is romance versus women's fiction, but whatever. I haven't read this and I won't.
Book Lovers by Emily Henry.
Rating: Have not read.
Thoughts: Have not read, probably will not due to the lack of heat Emily seems be favoring (Beach Read did have a mild, but not unheated, sex scene).
The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas.
Rating: 2/5
Thoughts: The heroine's lack of professionalism and maturity in the workplace really didn't work for me. I couldn't take her seriously. None of it read as real (this is an issue I have with contemporaries--you either go completely bananas or go completely real, in my opinion, and many try to sit in the middle). I get why people are into it, but it's not for me.
It Starts with Us by Colleen Hoover.
Rating: Have not read.
Thoughts: At least it's not the one actively about the abusive husband, just the sequel...
Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score.
Rating: Have not read
Thoughts: I'm totally unfamiliar with this. As it involves the heroine raising a child, I probably won't, but rock on I guess?
It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey.
Rating: 3/5
Thoughts: Some Tessa stuff has worked for me in the past, some hasn't--due to some issues I have with her work, I'm currently not looking for more? This was cute and hot in some sections... Others I found a bit hard to believe; I struggle with the way her heroes speak, though I know some love it. I love dirty talk, something is just missing here for me. Also, I can't handle the Back to Front Scene.
One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston.
Rating: Have not read
Thoughts: I liked Red, White, and Royal Blue, but I didn't love it. I may get around to this one day. It sounds cute. Yay sapphics!
Every Summer After by Carley Fortune.
Rating: Have not read.
Thoughts: It looks nice?
Love on the Brain by Ali Hazelwood.
Rating: Have not read
Thoughts: Will read eventually. Once it's off hold in like, five years.
Twisted Love by Ana Huang.
Rating: Have not read.
Thoughts: Everyone and their mom has been talking about this. The content warnings have me intrigued. Will read.
Hook, Line, and Sinker by Tessa Bailey.
Rating: Have not read
Thoughts: Probably will not read.
The Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren
Rating: Have not read.
Thoughts: Probably will not read. I actually really enjoyed Beautiful Bastard and want to read more of their early work, but the more recent stuff is too sweet for me. Would recommend to those who want milder, lower heat books though!
Seven Days in June by Tia Williams.
Rating: 3/5
Thoughts: I had a hard time getting into this, likely because the heroine is a single mother, but I loved the setting, the writing style, and the connection between the hero and heroine.
Neon Gods by Katee Robert
Rating: Have not read (finished)
Thoughts: I had to stop this one and haven't gotten back into it yet. I liked what I was read and I will eventually!!!
The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling.
Rating: Have not read.
Thoughts: Will try eventually.
The Fine Print by Lauren Asher.
Rating: Have not read.
Thoughts: I'll check it out. I have a love/hate relationship with billionaire romances.
In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren.
Rating: Have not read.
Thoughts: See earlier comments on current Christina Lauren books.
Twisted Games by Ana Huang
Rating: Have not read.
Thoughts: Kind of insane to me that Goodreads repeats authors so often in this list.
You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle.
Rating: 3/5
Thoughts: Read this long ago, would amend to 2/5 as I actively wanted the couple to break up. It possessed an issue I see in many contemporaries where behavior that is kind of insane is painted as totally normal and cute because it's a romcom~.
The Cheat Sheet by Sarah Adams.
Rating: Have not read
Thoughts: Not for me I think.
Twisted Hate by Ana Huang
Rating: Have not read
Thoughts: Good for Ana Huang, sincerely, but it feels like... not much effort... was put into this list.
The American Roommate Experiment by Elena Armas
Rating: Have not read
Thoughts: Will not read.
The Heart Principle by Helen Hoang
Rating: 4/5
Thoughts: I understand the debate around this being a romance. If Beach Read can be one, so can this. It's very intense and hard to read, but well-written and worth reading if you're the right audience.
Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall.
Rating: Have not read
Thoughts: I love A Lady for A Duke by Alexis, but I'm not sure if this one has sex in it or not--if it doesn't, it's not for me, but I have two of his upcoming books in my TBR. Would recommend his writing in general.
The Switch by Beth O'Leary
Rating: Have not read
Thoughts: Will not read.
Icebreaker by Hannah Grace.
Rating: Have not read

Funny You Should Ask by Elissa Sussman.
Rating: Have not read
Thoughts: Never heard of this before, and it sounds cute. Will investigate further!

Rating: 4/5
Thoughts: My least favorite of the trilogy, but Talia doesn't really miss, and it's super good.
The Road Trip by Beth O'Leary
Rating: Have not read
Thoughts: Will not read.
The Roommate by Rosie Danan.
Rating: 4/5 (on Storygraph I'd probably go 4.5/5)
Thoughts: So GOOD. Pro sex worker, hot as fuck, emotional, all about sex positivity.
Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert.
Rating: 4/5
Thoughts: I like this even more than Dani Brown. ASD rep from both the hero and the heroine, and the sparkly purple dildo scene was hotter than it had any right to be. Oh, here's this sparkly purple dildo my friend had hiding in her bed, I guess I'll just fuck her with it???
The Ex Talk by Rachel Lynn Solomon.
Rating: 4/5
Thoughts: This may be more of a 3.5/5 for me? Anyway, it was cute, I remember enjoying the heroine being older than the hero.
Twisted Lies by Ana Huang
Rating: Have not read.
Thoughts: I feel like people are gonna come at Ana for being on the list a billion times but... don't.

Thoughts: Fun, but I prefer Daria's Take the Lead. I suspect the hero being a single dad brought this down for me.
The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels by India Holton.
Rating: 5/5.
Thoughts: Love it and totally recommend it.
A Rogue of One's Own by Evie Dunmore.
Rating: 2/5.

okay so i don’t mind reg bc w/e this is fandom innit ppl can do what they want, but i think you’re so right that remus and lyall are fundamentally much more interesting characters and so is their relationship. reg by himself is somewhat compelling but no one in the fandom seems to care abt what makes him compelling i.e. stuff that actually happened in canon not just fanfictions that he’s been featured in. for instance, i see it being stated as though it’s fact that his parents abused him which we don’t know iirc? we know that sirius was mistreated and i do think being raised by political radicals would likely cause a turbulent home life, so i doubt regulus came out of his childhood unscathed, but we have no actual proof he was treated similarly to sirius at all. he was still a supremacist, just not to the extent that his parents were. as far as i’m concerned he died a fascist, but he had a “for thee but not for me” tory level attitude about certain things.
oh absolutely! with regards to my position on regulus, im in no way trying to say that people can’t/shouldn’t like him—as you say, people can do as they like, but im just personally not at all interested in him or with what general fandom consensus has chosen to do with him. the things that would make regulus compelling in canon do not necessarily compel me anyway, but more than that i agree that a lot of people have chosen to virtually wipe those things out out in favour of creating a morally pure conceptualisation of him that they don’t feel the need to defend (not that i think anyone should have to defend having an interest in regulus anyway).
i suppose i am just not personally predisposed to having an interest in canon regulus, so his popularity is not something i fully understand, but particularly the version of him that has been created by fanon...honestly i find him irritating, and generally i find even less to be interested in in a conceptualization of regulus that strips him of agency, flaws and responsibility. i said in that other post that i dont think regulus is as complex as he's given credit for (which applies even more once fanon is through with him), and i honestly stand by it--i reckon he was fully willing, albeit having been influenced by his upbringing, to become a death eater, and i don't buy the narrative that he had no choice and was forced into it and had no personal sympathy with the politics of it all. i find it ridiculously convenient. and then, i think he started having doubts when the impact of all it all became a little too close for comfort (for thee but not for me is quite a perfect summary lol), and he turned traitor. that is really all there is to it for me. i do not think that he would have rejected his parents' ideology if given the chance, the way sirius did. but i recognise really, since i don't think a character's morality or lack thereof should dictate whether you're allowed to enjoy them, the discussion of regulus' morality is sort of besides the point lol, other than the fact that i find his complete and unrealistic redemption via fanon rather boring and admittedly a little lazy.
my comparison between his relationship with sirius and lyalls relationship with remus in the earlier post was mainly just me. making a joke of sorts and being a little unserious, but i do genuinely think lyall and remus are a lot more interesting and complex--though i 100% recognize that this is largely personal preference and im not trying to dress my opinion as an objective fact. mainly, i guess where i am with it all is that i already dont really have an interest in regulus from canon, and despite his huge surge in popularity i have never seen anything in fanon that really changes my mind about that (apart from. maybe one fic). which is fine! nobody is obligated to sit here and try and tailor their own takes on, or fondness for, this guy to attract my interest, or win me over. that is not their job. my opinion holds no more weight than the next guy's, and my lack of interest in regulus is not anyone else's problem, just like i am not ever going to exert energy trying to win someone over to liking remus or liking r/s. i am never going to go to someone's blog or fic and have a go at them for liking regulus/demand they justify themselves. BUT, in the safety of my own blog, i figure im safe to say these things xx and as far as im concerned, my favourite thing regulus ever did was piss off and die xx
