A few days ago there was a (now I know) decoy call. They called me on the phone saying I'm putting trash in the wrong place and I could end up getting fined.

I thought nothing of it, shook them off, but stopped putting the bags in the usual place.

Wednesday morning I went out to print out the visa documents I'm gonna need.

When I got back, I got another phone call saying they are at the door, and they wanna talk to me.

I thought it was still the trashcan situation, so I went down to talk to them.

They came in, and *then* told me it wasn't the trashcan thing, it was "something I ordered online". I was like okay, I order everything these days, from food to whatever.

Then they started talking about "suicide kits" and searched my room. They found the SN and took it away and took a bunch of pictures.

Then they reassured me that they won't bother me again and this won't affect the visa process because I was categorized as a witness.

Thursday morning they woke me up and called me in for questioning but I couldn't tell them anything they didn't already know, so I used it as an opportunity to "preach" about why aiding self-checkout shouldn't be illegal in the first place. I also told them that the store was a normal place for like food preservatives and such. Which is true, from what I've seen there.

If I didn't go, they would've hunted me down, so... Of course the part that this won't affect the visa application could be a lie, but I didn't want to risk it. I'm still learning about the situation. Not to mention trying to recover from the trauma. Holy fuck.

with funimation going down in april, and no plans to transfer several titles in their catalogue to CR due to license issues, there will soon be no legal way to stream Samurai Flamenco with english subs in North America. Your ONLY options are piracy, or purchasing the European blu-rays and getting a region B blu-ray device.

(short for Gibbulas) she was on the other side of the planet where wayne and crew were during hylics 1, as well as completely underground in an enclosed vault because she, like other of her species, would commit mass cannibalism and was imprisoned away. during both games she made music on her laptop and got popular enough in the online music community to buy herself a lockpick set from Wamaxon (hylics amazon) and got out. she was able to go to 1(one) moon age lobotomy concert before they disbanded.

I get why Heart doesn't talk. I'm hard of hearing. I'm not deaf, I just can't hear super well and it will continue to get progressively worse. I'm also loud af because of that. I've had people I'm out with shush me in public places because of it and, I get why they do it because everybody doesn't want to hear me yell, but it still sucks. Because I love to talk.

So for Heart, whose parents have completely removed him from society, most likely due to misplaced shame at his condition, there's a huge chance they haven't let him talk since. He probably did try to keep talking at first and I'm guessing they shut it down because he couldn't control his volume and tone. And now he just doesn't.

Which is a whole other level of heartbreaking to me. Deaf people do not owe it to anyone to speak. But people who had hearing, for an extended period of time and not just the first few years of life, are used to talking. That's how we've been raised to communicate since birth basically. And so when people take that away because we're too loud? It hurts. So much.

I don't think he'll start talking again, nor do I think he needs to. But the fact that he doesn't, when he was hearing and speaking for 12 years, and how it was most likely a choice made for him to not "embarrass" his parents? Or make them feel guilty he got sick? And how his parents also didn't even bother to learn sign either? It's just devastating to me.

Things To Make August (the Month of Existential Dread) Bearable

Pray. A lot.

Plan little summer adventures.

Write a fun little retelling (and hopefully finish it).

Read an Elizabeth Goudge book (Book 3 of the Elliot trilogy seems right, because Book 2 is coming to mind a lot as an appropriate summer book).

Remember that sunflowers exist. Find lots of them.

#random thought of the day #i had considered canceling august #just denying its existence and pretending it's july ii #because the whole month always feels like living beneath a guillotine blade that's about to drop #a downhill from summer and a dread of autumn and nothing actually good in and of itself #except for maybe sunsets when the melancholy at least feels a little right #but i've decided to embrace it and maybe find a better atmosphere for it #(yes i do have a specific retelling in mind)#(if you've been following the writing blog you know which one it is)#(but i'm not naming it because saying it aloud puts too much pressure on it)#(and this is supposed to be a pressure-free fun project)#(plus i recognize that i've not yet reached the one week mark)#(where i lose interest in most fun new projects)#(so i acknowledge the likelihood that in like 2-3 days i'll no longer want to write it)#(but for now i hold onto hope and think it has just the right vibe to make august something better)

The Mandalorian switched from writing a story following the arc of Ice Age (2002) to writing a story following the arc of Shazam (2019) in-between seasons 2 and 3, and this is why a perfectly satisfying ending to a two season miniseries got ruined.

#the mandalorian #din djarin #grogu #something something if they wanted a huge mandalore-centric storyline this is what tbobf should've been #tbobf shouldn't have been mando chapter 2.5 #it should've been the second book in a duology #look they could've done one or the other #a beautiful story where grogu is desperately searching for the jedi to the exclusion of all other connections and it's HURTING HIM #it's hurting to not be able to let go of this desperate desire to find a family that may or may not even be out there anymore #and ultimately his connections to din allow him to heal enough that he recognizes being a jedi is no longer the right path for him #he goes to luke and it's just.... not the way he thought it would be and THAT'S OKAY #OR #you do a beautiful story where din finds a lost child and bonds with it as he works to return the child to their family #and din builds up more connections along the way via having to help this child #which ultimately helps him heal from something or grow in a certain better direction #but he always is going to let the child go at the end because keeping the child was NEVER THE POINT #but we started with one arc and ended it and then suddenly pivoted into another one so we could just keep it going #so that lovely satisfying ending just... went away #like it never existed #but it wasn't grogu's story to begin with #it was din's #just like ice age wasn't actually about the baby at all #it was about manny #whereas in shazam the story isn't about billy's mother it's about BILLY #mandalorian isn't grogu's story so there's nowhere for him to go now that he's not with the jedi #it's DIN'S STORY but grogu's part in it is over so he's just a money making accessory at this point

Oh, I would absolutely not do BSD well either. I just wish Asagiri had stuck to his roots more. He was a great comedy writer, and the beginning of the story was great for it. It's the action and Death Note stuff he can't seem to get mastery of. But for the immortal part: I'm not entirely sold that Fyodor's immortal, yet. It seems like yet another twists that will twist to reveal oh, shocker, he faked his memories to confuse Sigma/the ADA... or something. Could very well be immortal, but not 100% guaranteed.

#bsd #anon #I still support his right to write his story however he wants #and a lot of people seem to enjoy this sort of shock-value shounen writing he's doing now #I just happen to hate that sort of story #so when BSD pivoted to that I was dragged along into it because of Fyodor and Nikolai #and get salty whenever characters who own a part of my heart and soul are subjected to bad shock writing #and yes I know the version of them that I love the most exist within my own perception #and are a product of the years I've spent working on and developing them for my own stories #but I still love and adore the originals too #and so it's painful and irritating #because the characters are no longer the main focus of the story #it's all about the shock... the next biggest thing #Nikolai's doesn't have a motive to be the ferryman I need to get all the characters in the same place/start the next arc? No problem!#he just wants to kill Fyodor now. problem solved.#how did he use his Ability to get Sigma to France when his Ability only travels 30m at a time?#eh don't worry about it. I made an omake about it so you know I know it's an absolute joke #Nikolai's whole character and Ability practically changed just for convenience... for the story and shock #so as a fan of character-based stories it hurts that sometimes characters just aren't respected at all #with Fyodor I know it's more a case of Asagiri's vision of him seems to have changed as the story progressed #in that realm I'm so happy that BSD is serialised because it means I still have the initial version of Fyodor that I loved with all my hear #when I really can't stand Meursault!Fyodor at all and wish he would just die already so I could be fully free

Yknow what burns my ass a little. Every time I venture onto youtube to listen to people talk about the murderbot diaries, every time some guy says "Well murderbot was meant for you to project onto it and thats why I'm calling it he all the time" and every time I hear that I cant help but think like. Do you have no dick and guns in your arms? Not to say that murderbot isnt a relatable guy, but I cannot imagine thinking murderbot is *so relateable* and so *devoid of preference (it's not)* that you just HAVE to call it she her or he him. It prefers being a robot. It doesnt want to be human. Its gender is security unit. These are all key parts of the character HOW did you miss that

I got a random friend request this morning. I'm in a few groups so I thought it was something genuine. Guy messages me, asking about my job and family situation. Claims to be a surgeon in Munich but all his content is stuff about boats and cruises in Virginia (first warning sign). Gets "confused" about why I'm "still" single and calls me adorable (major red flag - it's ok after a few months but the same day?). I tell him about the exit, he goes "you have so much more to experience", blah blah. I tell him that's not exactly friendly behavior - he backs off really quick (a little suspicious, usually people argue back). Since he claims to be a doctor, I ask if he can get Nembutal for me. He says yes, 50 ml for $2100 (why not €, if you're in Munich?). I say cool, I'll fly there next week. He tells me not to tell anyone about this, because he has a job to lose. I think to myself, it's more than a job you're risking here if this is real, but I say I agree. He sends me a picture of a hand holding a bottle of N, but the reverse image search shows it's a stock picture from the internet (another red flag). We go into details, then suddenly he tries to talk me into paying in advance (and in bitcoin if possible, which I don't use). I tell him I don't want to pay in advance. He tries harder. At this point, I'm like, nah. This *has* to be fake. I report the conversation as a scam to Facebook and move on. (NEVER pay in advance for anything unless it's a reputable source like foodora or amazon.) A person with less online experience or fewer brain cells would have probably fallen for it - a few years back, I probably would've fallen for it. Now that I have my supplies, I'm not that desperate, and way less naive as well. This is yet another situation created by the lack of a legal, unconditionally available option, though.

People need a real alternative.

tbh it's still crazy 2 see progressive (ie western slash european & american i guess? yanno wat i mean. places wher we r nawt radicalised & illegalised into it oblivion) audiences have such (understandably) high standards 4 queer media or even queer representation as a whole & won't take less than. like i understand it's cause ya can expect better so ya will, in sum cases ya can even demand better. but it's simply nawt an option 4 many of us.

like idk perhaps a bit too harsh of me 2 say but regardless of the political atmosphere there's still a difference between livin' in a place where ya still have rights, have pride & can walk into a store etc & find queer literature & rep & even merch, have resources 2 support yrself & find yr community. & a place where as much as wavin' a pride flag or even havin' a pride pin, OR G-D FORBID holdin' yer partner's hand WILL get ya arrested & jailed. an' yr lucky if ya don' get assaulted or killed be4 dat can happen 🫥
