If you were to rewrite the sisters, while keeping their ideas of not grieving toms bc its them returning to earth and sending out toms while not vilifying it, how would you approach it? thanks
I've got a pretty solid plan for the Sisters in BB already you may wanna check out! It fixes several of my problems with them, including some of the less spoken about ones.
I don't think I ever would keep the "not greiving Toms" thing, though. Like... I don't think it really can work. We have funeral rites because a social creature needs closure, even in a world where your loved one is just joining an afterlife or a pantheon, you don't have them beside you anymore.
You need to make the loss real, tangible. Confirm that reality is going to be different from now on, because your loved one is not here any longer.
So, not having any type of funeral rite for an entire sex is always going to be dehumanizing. It shows that they aren't seen as VALUABLE at all! Not even "less than people," even a dead pet needs to be mourned somehow.
I'd propose that mourning a male Sister should just look different. Quieter, maybe. Something about how a tom needs silence so he can return to the soil, because if you're too loud, he'll want to come home. You can't seem too sad, or he'll want to comfort you. Don't remind him of the life he could be living, just carry on in the most mundane way possible... but not TOO boring or he'll need to come up there and see what you're hiding!
Something that doesn't look like mourning on the surface, but truly is a ceremony.

And a black widow spider makes
More sound than she
And black moons in those eyes of hers
Made more sense to me

Small sketch comic from a scene in Squirrelflight's hope, of Snow and Leafstar I'm still trying to get any sort of meaning or enjoyment after making myself read that hell of a book. This was a banger line thank you Snow

the thing with rootspring x bristlefrost
I think a lot of people have problems with the way Warriors goes about romantic relationships. I'm sure everybody has that ONE canon couple that pisses them off the most because of how it was handled or for even existing.  I definitely have a few that I just do not like, and others that didn’t meet my expectations and left me feeling underwhelmed.  One relationship that comes to mind is Rootspring and Bristlefrost, which I really don’t like as a romantic pairing. (I am much more on board with RootXShadow honestly, they have much more in common) -
Instead of what we ended up with in The Broken Code, I would have preferred Rootspring pining for Bristlefrost's affection after she saved him and eventually confessing his feelings to her, but Bristlefrost has absolutely no romantic feelings for him whatsoever. Rootpaw's attachment to Bristlefrost felt so much like puppy love- like seeing a little kid have their first crush. I can see a young and innocent Rootspring asking Bristlefrost to “just think about it,” when she nervously does not reciprocate his feelings at first. And her, not wanting to crush his little baby heart, says, “Okay, I’ll think about it...” Proceed with Bristlefrost POVs, and seeing her have inner dialogue moments of trying to see qualities in Rootspring that she could appreciate in a mate, but ultimately, she just doesn’t have feelings for him. He’s too young and inexperienced and simply is not her type. And she decides to be honest with him. With Rootspring’s feelings crushed, leaving him heartbroken, I imagine this would have been an AMAZING opportunity to have Ashfur try and pry his way into Rootspring’s head.  “She doesn’t deserve you.” he whispers “Make her see you’re perfect.” he says “She crushed your heart, so crush her's. It’s only fair.” he tempts. Basically, everything Ashfur’s been doing since Squirrelflight didn’t reciprocate his feelings. Another opportunity to showcase just how warped Ashfur’s mind is. Rootspring struggles with his feelings and his own inner demons (as well as Ashfur on his shoulder), and he starts acting bitter toward Bristlefrost. Getting upset when other toms talk to Bristlefrost, or actively trying to make her jealous in some immature, cringy way, as kids do.  But then we get to the final showdown in The Dark Forest, and as much as Rootspring wishes he could hate Bristlefrost, he just can’t because he genuinely loves her and can’t imagine putting her through pain. Even knowing that Bristlefrost will never love him back, he still wants her to live a happy life. Even if it doesn’t include him.  He refuses to be cruel- heartless and bitter, like Ashfur.  We could have a nice conclusion about how anyone could be put Ashfur’s position, being rejected by the one you love and being hurt by it, but they can still choose to be good people. It doesn’t have to ruin you, and you don’t have to give in to that hate.
It won’t get you anywhere.  And then just to add some icing on the cake, we see Rootspring being the one to sacrifice himself, dragging Ashfur down into the deep darkness, killing him once and for all, instead of Bristlefrost.  I can’t picture someone like Tree breaking down into hysterics, and that’s exactly why I think having him break down would be so heart-wrenching to read! Imagine him waiting beside the Moonpool for his son to wake up, only to see his body start to fade away. I can see him going to the Sisters and begging them to summon Rootspring’s spirit, and refusing to listen when they say it’s impossible. They try just for him, but Rootspring is gone.  That's some sad shit  I didn't mean to write another au, but I guess that’s what this is.
I'm all for killing off main characters in impactful ways. Make me feel something! Props to the Erins for killing off Bristlefrost and leaving Rootspring devastated! I didn't think they'd do that. I’m PRAYING they don’t bring her back to life or as a spirit, because that would absolutely undo the meaning of her death and the sacrifice she made.
But yeah I didn’t like how Bristlefrost went from not being interested in Rootspring romantically to suddenly being REALLY in love with him for no believable reason except plot.
That’s just me tho. I'm sorry RootXBristle shippers if ya’ll are out there, but their relationship is wacc Go watch Moonkitti's video about bristlexroot, if you haven't yet. I'm happy I'm not the only one that thought their relationship didn't make sense.

I know it’s likely the Erins pulling stuff out of their ass, but just in case they’re actually referencing a real thing, does anyone have any idea what the “claw stars” could possibly be? You know, the thing The Sisters use as a guide to know when to send toms on their wander thingy.
Since it’s associated with dusk, my first thought was that it could potentially be Venus during the time it rises in the evening and not the morning. But the Venus cycle is way too long for every tom to be sent out at the age of roughly 6 moons of age. Not to mention it’s stars plural, not star singular.

Warriors Cats Ideas for PMV/MAPs that I will never do anything with Part 2
Spotfur and Sunshine- Nancy Mulligan by Ed Sheeran
TL,DR: Spotfur raises her kits in the Sister along with Sunshine, they eventually become mates, healing together
Spot leaves TC to join the Sisters after having her kits. That clan will never feel safe again, not while its leader wears the skin of the cat that shattered it, the cat that killed Stemleaf, not after her littermates left, and without Bristlefrost's promise.
Spot leaves camp to find the Sisters, realizing that they were the last cats she felt safe with. She runs into Hawk and Snow hunting. They take her back to camp. Sunshine is in the clearing with her two kits.
Spot breaks down, letting all of her stress spill out. This hit a nerve in Sunshine, she had a similar experience with stress building up, and feeling utterly alone in the world, even while surround by cats she had know her whole life.
Sunshine remembered what it was like when her brother left the Sisters, and then when her ex gave her the choice of them or her family. For a while Sunshine went with her ex, but their true colors began to show. They become apathetic, lazy, and manipulated Sunshine into doing most of the work by ignoring her or "rewarding" her through giving her attention.
(To place this a little in the time line) Daisy runs into Spot as she is heading back to TC, as Spot debats on how or if to tell the clan.
Daisy reassures her that she will always have a place in Thunderclan if she or her kits want to come back.
~ ~ ~
"But how do I know if I'm doing the right thing for me or my kits? What if I'm cursing them to a harsh life? It feels like every decision I make has unexpected backlash," the grey queen felt her breath quicken again," How can I do this alone? I don't know what to do, it seems that I'm the only queen who wasn't immediately perfect. I mean the other day I stepped on Stemkit's tail. What parent does that?"
A tail on her should stopped her from spiraling rant. Spotfur had almost forgotten that there was another cat there. She looked up at Daisy and saw not a face of concern or pity, but one of understanding.
"Being a parent doesn't come with a code, or instructions. Second guessing yourself doesn't go away, this is a constant learning process for you and your kits. They will tell you what they need," Daisy's blue eyes glistened in the sunshine flitering through the leaves," You are never alone. You have cats around you who are willing and want to help, in Thunderclan and in the Sisters. You just have to accept their help."
~ ~ ~
Daisy and Squirrelflight helped Spotfur carry the kits. Spotfur couldn't bring herself to enter camp so her kin said their goodbyes as they walked her out of the territory, one last time.

I am once again giggling like a maniac at Spottedleaf basically calling Redtail directly in starclan (the terminology of which I forgot) to ask what the fuck happened about his murder, and he's TOO BUSY YELLING AT HER to answer the actual questions. Real fucking sibling behavior right there.
The Rose Twins are everything to me ngl.
Their deaths haunt the narrative. They were both in positions of massive authority. One takes life too seriously and the other laughs in the face of oblivion. He desperately wants to keep his children away from her so they don't pick up her habits. She teases him that no cat avoids the doctor forever. He hates she's right. She loves that he hates that she's right. If she needs to sneak out of StarClan she tricks him into making daisy chains. She will break the veil between life and death to speak to him again. He wastes the entire session barking at her about witchcraft. He never rats out her crime to the heavens he's so very loyal to.
They are Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck if they were siblings, to me. Absolutely in love with them.

the magic system (or lack of one) in warriors is so funny. like the sisters have hereditary powers (except sometimes I guess rip to needleclaw's powers that she doesn't have) but then sol is just some guy who maybe has powers but maybe is just really persuasive and somehow knows about astronomy but then the three have powers that were given to defend starclan but starclan doesn't know where they came from either and also leafpool and squirrelflight are telepathic but only for like a month??

Bramblestar/claw as a character bothers me so. so much. Because I think he had so much potential and interesting arcs, I particularly liked him in the broken code but god. He bothers me because most of it was wasted and or not followed up on. And it's a shame because he's written consistently unlike many others. But I cannot enjoy him after 1. Of course. Squirrelflight’s hope dear lord. And 2. His treatment of Squirrelflight in arc two but also his perspective in that arc. Annoys me because his inner monologue regarding the other prophecy cats is. Frustrating. And in general his relationship with Squilf, like, her wailing for him in Lost Stars once she saw him dead in the snow den would’ve been so fucking impactful if i didn’t read her super edition and ya know. Saw him block the medicine cat den when a cat was dying in front of him for no reason than he was a little miffed. Like. I like that to some extent. I can like how it’s well portrayed how he cracks under pressure and lets his emotions lead but then I have to read tbc and see the narrative singing his praises like the lost god of the empire JUST. On this episode brown tabbies are always at most evil and at least annoying and he follows the pattern /hj
