One of My Headcanon Posts got reposted to a Cringe Subreddit, and-

And it's funny how people think they can shit on others for literally liking things, or thinking that intersex or other LGBTQIA+ headcanons are inherently sexualizing them. And it's funnier how this perpetrates the stereotype of the inherent sexualization of the LGBTQIA+ community which makes fun of and dehumanizes them in many ways.

The amount of hate I've gotten for my AU is something I was initially scared of, but I foresaw it as something inevitable, but it's something I've gotten used to.

Literally, headcanons and AU's are so, so harmless. Unless it's stuff involving p*dophilia and other harmful, messed up stuff, buddy, let people have their own interpretation of their favorite characters.

But let them hate for now, honestly. I want them to shudder and have their skin crawl because people like things. I want them to be scared of me because I like things and have an interpretation and headcanons of them. I want them to cry because I don't inherently sexualize the LGBTQIA+ community and consider queer people to be literally people, other human beings worthy and deserving of respect.

The same goes for the neurodivergent community in terms of how they're infantilized so often- when did an autistic headcanon/interpretation hurt literally anyone? But yeah, they're free to act all pissy and whine and complain about it and call me cringe to justify and excuse their hate- that just gets them nothing at the end of the day for hating on people because they like things and aren't afraid to write their own version of it.

Every time I see that G--gle phone photoshop commercial my heart is filled with infinite sadness, like, yeah it's cool you can have a good family photo, it's cool you can do that, but god, there is something to be said for the honesty of a family photo where you're blinking, or crying, or have ugly wrinkles.

What is too unsightly for you? Would you swipe-click-replace out the image of my cousin crying on our Florida trip family reunion photo? Would you remove the plastic snake I have clenched in my grip, which I still have to this day? Would you scoff at the wrinkles around our eyes and the strands of hair on our faces as we squint into the wind, the day before the massive storm? Would I remember it if I didn't have these reminders, if the picture was perfect and clean, all children in a row with perfect gleaming white tombstone tooth smiles? No tears. No plastic snake.

Everyone is beautiful and no one looks genuine.

every single time israel fires on people picking up food or humanitarian aid it truly cuts me to the core. obviously it's equally horrible to fire on civilians escaping the invasion or to bomb hospitals or refugee camps or people just living in their own homes. but there's something so brutal about hitting people right when they have gathered for life-saving aid. by firing on them there the IOF have set up an impossible dilemma where starving people have to choose between death by bullet or death by hunger. they have left no room for palestinians to choose life. i do not know how my government or any other government can just sit by and watch while innocent people continue to be gunned down for the crime of existing in israel's eyeline.

it drives me bonkers the way people don't know how to read classic books in context anymore. i just read a review of the picture of dorian gray that said "it pains me that the homosexual subtext is just that, a subtext, rather than a fully explored part of the narrative." and now i fully want to put my head through a table. first of all, we are so lucky in the 21st century to have an entire category of books that are able to loudly and lovingly declare their queerness that we've become blind to the idea that queerness can exist in a different language than our contemporary mode of communication. second it IS a fully explored part of the narrative! dorian gray IS a textually queer story, even removed from the context of its writing. it's the story of toxic queer relationships and attraction and dangerous scandals and the intertwining of late 19th century "uranianism" and misogyny. second of all, i'm sorry that oscar wilde didn't include 15k words of graphic gay sex with ao3-style tags in his 1890 novel that was literally used to convict him of indecent behaviour. get well soon, i guess...
