Cringe culture is unfortunately not dead but we can kill it in major spaces if we all keep being ourselves authentically and unapologetically. What they call "cringe" is actually pretty punk. It's defiance. Keep being yourselves, you're ALLOWED to exist as you are.

never let anyone convince you that your excitement isn't beautiful. what an incredible thing it is, to notice and be overcome by any bright spot in this too-dark world.
it doesn't matter what you're excited about, how small it seems to other people, your joy deserves to grow as big as it can. nurture it. help it grow strong so that when you are hurting your joy can lend you its strength.

Cringe culture ruined being a kid.
I keep seeing the idea that teen members of Gen Z are the last generation to experience an actual childhood and honestly? I agree.
We as a society have made being a child so hostile, so miserable, that kids aren't interested in being young anymore.
How children are constantly told to grow up, how the color has been sucked out of the world, how because of cringe culture children will be fucking torn apart by grown adults all over the internet, how children are experiencing crisis after crisis. Children are shamed for their interests and hobbies and style by grown ass adults and teens who are far too old to be doing this. How kids aren't allowed to be anywhere without being made fun of by adults who are miserable.
Being a child is fucking hostile now, and I don't blame this generation of kids for trying too hard to be mature/grown. Because people treat children like shit, so who would want to be one?

some people who are loudly "anti cringe culture" will be on your ass for shipping the wrong pixels together. because to them, "cringe" is just quirky scene culture and fail to recognize that they themselves are perpetuating cringe culture.

drawing self-ship art or writing self-insert fic is fun and good actually. the only people who think it's cringe are people who are allergic to having fun.
stop the allergens. rise above. draw yourself holding hands with your blorbos.

Instead of calling something you enjoy cringe just change the word to whimsical and everything becomes okay
'omg my oc is so cringe' no they're a whimsical little being
'omg my art style is so cringe' nah it's full of whimsy and wonder
It works for anything
'omg I'm SO cringe' vs 'omg I'm SO whimsical'
Do you see how it hits different? That's cause Cringe doesn't exist it's literally just whimsy and joy rebranded as Something Bad

YOU may think I’m weird
but my FAVORITE CHARACTER also thinks I’m weird but in an endearing way.
I’m like a strange well-behaved mollusk to them :) and I think that’s beautiful

“You can’t create OCs based on yourself!” fuck you, I can do whatever the hell I want. If I wanna write a fic where I’m BFFs with Alastor, I’m gonna do it. What are you gonna do? Call the fandom police?

while i hate cringe culture, there is one undeniably unbearably cringe thing in this world. and that is people thinking they're too cool for something. "i won't listen to a kpop song!" "i won't vote in a poll that includes mcyt characters!" "i won't play a cringe game like animal crossing!" 2 kool 4 kpop. 2 kool 4 minekraft. 2 kool 4 animal krossing. 2 kool 4 skool, no doubt. is there any limit to your coolness, or does it just stretch on infinitely? genuine question.

cringe culture is pointless im gonna be so honest. to actively shun someone who's having more fun than you'll ever have hating on someone who's done nothing wrong is entertaining to see to say the least

I’m still not over that one crew art of Fionna asking Marshall Lee for angel wing tattoos and him saying, “No, that’s cringe.” I have NEVER felt a more strong “he would not fucking say that” from anyone that close to a media’s source material, maybe ever.
Look me in the eye. He was enraptured listening to Gary talk about his bakery food OCs, and was always reassuring him that he wasn’t annoying. He tried to stop a multidimensional bug thing with the power of a LOVE SONG. I’m gripping your shoulders with enough force to shatter your bones right now.
He would NOT call stuff that his friends like and want “cringe”. If Fionna asked him for angel wing tattoos, he’d be like, “Hell yeah, that’s sick.” If you called anything his friends liked ‘cringe’, he would look at you with an expression of such contempt that it’d cause you physical pain. Do you understand?

some of yall treat "cringe" people as on the same level as actual criminals. that's weird and you should stop. I've seen more hate online for weird people like Thomas sanders than I have for literal abusers like Wilbur soot. do fucking better

SO many people will say they're against cringe culture or anti cringe culture, and then
complain about people who care mostly or exclusively about shipping
complain about rarepairs that don't have logic to them
complain about people who self-ship in ways that are too "intense" about it, if any level of intensity at all
complain about people who are serious otherkin or "too serious" about it
complain about people who display actual symptoms of their mental illness or physical disability like not frequently bathing or brushing their teeth if
complain about headcanons that aren't based in any canon info (or even headcanons that they just don't have)
complain about headcanons that go against canon
complain about "excessive" queer, disabled, etc. headcanons
complain about interpretations that they disagree with
complain about people who like certain media
complain about people with weird queer identities
complain about people with weird speech patterns
complain about people with "weird" obsessions
complain about people with "weird" but harmless opinions
complain about people who are defensive or protective over certain characters, ships, etc.
complain about people who enjoy fanfic
complain about people who like nonserious fanfic about serious things
complain about people who like trope-y AUs or AUs at all
Feel free to add more!

I remember when it was fashionable to cringe at people who get engaged at BlizzCon or to scoff and eyeroll at a Special Interest-themed wedding, but I hope the universe you exist in right now is the one where you meet an individual who loves your hyperfixations & ultra specific interests just as much as you do. Me and @edaworks met over writing Fallout fic and now we sing songs from the Fallout OST together while happily married. We have a Minuteman flag and handmade in-universe props decorating our home. Everyone deserves that type of happiness. It might be cringe to somebody else, but we're cringe together

if you use words like 'degenerate' and 'weird' in your arguments about why something is wrong or bad then leave
go away.
