I already rewrote Queen Christina as a lesbian political drama in my head...and now I can't can't get the idea of a queer golden age of cinema out of my head.

Almost in Time...
I would've posted this yesterday, but I had a doctor's appointment and those always throw a wrench into my whole day. Ugh! Anyway, for Madonna's birthday yesterday, this is from my recent visit to Madame Tussauds Hollywood. Here I am, paling in comparison to her wax visage.
Tumblr media
Using my actual cane there. I'm starting to wonder if I need a hip replacement, too. There's a couple more pics I want to share, as well...
I hate how I look in this picture, but I was desperate for a chance to pose with Marlene Dietrich. As you all know, she is my favourite actress ever! Yes, I was singing along to the overhead speaker playing, "Falling in Love Again," in my Dietrich voice. I do a killer Dietrich impression! (What do you expect? I've been practicing it since high school!)
Tumblr media
Bette Davis and competing bitch faces, lol. I love her, though I have a slight preference for Miriam Hopkins.
Tumblr media
This one is from the Hollywood Museum/ Max Factor Building. This is the original set from Silence of the Lambs, reassembled in the basement! It includes original props, such as the shortened folding chair in front, so I could feel small and intimidated by Dr. Lecter, too. (Jokes on them, I always fancied him!)
Tumblr media
And the two stars I had to see, as they're my fav bands! The Monkees:
Tumblr media
and the Bee Gees!
Tumblr media
That's all with me in them I have. I think my mom may have accidentally deleted a few, as I had ones with Elizabeth Taylor as Cleopatra and Vivien Leigh as Scarlett O'Hara. And you know how much I love them!

Propaganda
Ava Gardner (The Killers, The Barefoot Contessa)— She's so goddamn hot. Her and Frank Sinatra could've sandwiched me and I would've thanked them for the privilege
Anna May Wong (The Thief of Bagdad, Shanghai Express)—Wong was the first Chinese American movie star, arguably the first Asian woman to make it big in American films. Though the racism of the time often forced her into stereotypical roles, awarded Asian leading roles to white actors in yellowface, and prohibited on-screen romance between actors of different races, she delivered powerful and memorable performances. When Hollywood bigotry got to be too much, she made movies in Europe. Wong was intellectually curious, a fashion icon, and a strong advocate for authentic Asian representation in cinema. And, notably for the purposes of this tournament, absolutely gorgeous.
This is round 5 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut.]
Ava Gardner:
Tumblr media
Ava Gardner is one of my favorite actresses of all time. Although a lot of her roles in movies are about her being beautiful and nothing else, there are some films where her acting truly shines.

HER FACE. LOOK AT IT. Also was a life long supporter of civil rights and a member of the NAACP, had lots of fun love affairs with other stars, bullfighters, married several times but was also happy in between to just have lovers and was unapologetically herself.
I literally gasp every time I see her.
Tumblr media
Between 1942 and 1964, Ava Gardner was credited in no less 50 films, and is still considered by some to be the most beautiful actresses that ever graced the silver screen. Despite life-long insecurities regarding her talent as an actress, she weathered public scandal, industry hostility, and outright condemnation by the Catholic Church with fearless grace. She would later in life talk candidly about the reality and pain of living through two (studio approved!!) abortions during her short marriage to Frank Sinatra, and while the two of them could not make their relationship work, they remained in each other’s lives for nearly 30 years. She would forever describe herself as a small-town girl who just got lucky, but always felt like a beautiful outsider.
Tumblr media
Really genuinely one of the most beautiful human beings I have ever seen. An autodidact. Had amazing chemistry with Gregory Peck to the point where I do think about watching On The Beach again sometimes because they're so good together even though that movie did destroy me. Was a great femme fatale in many movies.
Tumblr media
Anna May Wong propaganda:
Tumblr media
"She so so gorgeous!! Due to Hollywood racism she was pretty limited in the roles she got to play but even despite that she’s so captivating and deserves to be known as a leading lady in her own right!! When she’s on screen in Shanghai Express I can’t look away, which is saying something because Marlene Dietrich is also in that film."
Tumblr media
"SHE IS ON THE BACK OF QUARTERS also she was very smart and able to speak multiple languages and is a fashion icon on top of the acting/singing"
Tumblr media
"Paved the way for Asian American actresses AND TOTAL HOTTIE!!! She broke boundaries and made it her mission to smash stereotypes of Asian women in western film (at the time, they were either protrayed them as delicate and demure or scheming and evil). In 1951, she made history with her television show The Gallery of Madame Liu-Tsong, the first-ever U.S. television show starring an Asian-American series lead (paraphrased from Wikipedia). Also, never married and rumor has it that she had an affair with Marlene Dietrich. We love a Controversial Queen!"
Tumblr media
"She's got that Silent Era smoulder™ that I think transcends the very stereotypical roles in which she was typically cast. Also looks very hot smouldering opposite Marlene Dietrich in "Shanghai Express"; there's kiss energy there."
Tumblr media
"Hot as hell and chronically overlooked in her time, she's truly phenomenal and absolutely stunning"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"A story of stardom unavoidably marred by Hollywood racism; Wong's early-career hype was significantly derailed by the higher-up's reluctance to have an Asian lead, and things only got worse when the Hayes code came down and she suddenly *couldn't* be shown kissing a white man--even if that white man was in yellowface. After being shoved into the Dragon Lady role one too many times, she took her career to other continents for many years. Still, she came back to America eventually, being more selective in her roles, speaking out against Asian stereotypes, and in the midst of all of this finding the time to be awarded both the title of "World's Best Dressed Woman" by Mayfair Mannequin Society of New York and an honorary doctorate by Peking University."
Tumblr media
"Incredible beauty, incredible actress, incredible story."
Tumblr media
"-flapper fashion ICON. look up her fits please <3 -rumors of lesbianism due to her Close Friendships with marlene dietrich & cecil cunningham, among others -leveraged her star power to criticize the racist depictions of Chinese and Asian characters in Hollywood, as well as raise money and popular support for China & Chinese refugees in the 1930s and 40s. -face card REFUSED to decline"

It's just crushing to hear about the death of Steve Albini at age 61. He was one of the rare people influential on music as musician, producer and advocate for the working band. The records above are just a sample of his work as an engineer and producer. Needless to say it's a seminal bunch of albums.
These records certainly impacted me, but I would say seeing his bands when I was teenager was huge. His guitar sounded like it was made out nails. Sometimes it sounded like James Brown played through industrial machinery. They were funny and irreverent but most of all I think it represented music that was free from chains of the music industry. Since punk went corporate it may be difficult for people to understand that, for many of us, it wasn't about the musical style but rather that it represented the idea that music was not just for rock stars to play throngs of screaming fans. You, in fact, could do it too.
And that's it, I doubt he would want the hagiography to come. Or as Marlene Dietrich says in Touch of Evil, "What does it matter what you say about people?"

vedic astrology observations pt 2
in my previous post i had briefly talked about how moon influence, cancer rashi, jupiter influence tend to give the natives a large chest and make them very curvy. ill expand more on that here:
Tumblr media
Pushya (cancer rashi) stellium (sun, rising and venus) Selena Gomez is known for her generous curves
Tumblr media
Hasta sun, Pushya moon + mars native Monica Bellucci is known for her luscious curves
Tumblr media
Punarvasu sun & moon, Sofia Vergara is blessed with a big bosom
Tumblr media
Vishaka moon, Pushya mars & rahu, Hasta jupiter & saturn Beyonce made it cool to be curvy back in the day

Tumblr media
Punarvasu moon, Mariah Carey
Tumblr media
Purvabhadrapada sun & mercury, Alexandra Daddario
Tumblr media
Milana Vayntrub, Purvabhadrapada sun & rising
2. Serpent Yoni is present in the charts of most seductresses/femme fatales/sex symbols. Nakshatras associated with snakes, like Ashlesha, Rahuvian nakshatras (rahu is linked to serpent), UBP etc are also commonly found in the charts of many sirens 🐍
Tumblr media
Rohini sun, Angelina Jolie. Her atmakaraka is her mercury in mrigashira
Tumblr media
Mrigashira moon, Jennifer Lawrence (she also has Ashlesha sun)
Tumblr media
Natalie Portman, mrigashira sun
Tumblr media
Megan Fox, venus in mrigashira atmakaraka (moon in ashlesha)
Tumblr media
Margot Robbie, swati moon (rahu is associated with snakes) and has venus in rohini
Tumblr media
Parveen Babi, Mrigashira moon
Tumblr media
Urmila Matondkar, saturn and ketu in Mrigashira
Tumblr media
Sridevi, ashlesha stellium (sun, rising and venus)
Tumblr media
Mila Kunis, sun in ashlesha, moon in swati
Tumblr media
Marilyn Monroe, sun & mercury in rohini

Tumblr media
Theda Bara, the first ever sex symbol had UBP rising
Tumblr media
Clara Bow, the woman because of whom the term "it girl" was coined, had venus in mrigashira atmakaraka
Snakes have long been associated with mysticism, hypnotism and evil. A seductive woman can put anyone into a trance and make them lose their mind and forget the reality they inhabit, similar to how a snake charmer can make a snake twist and turn according to their will by playing certain tunes, a highly magnetic woman can get anything she wants by channelling her inner serpent.
3. Homewreckers, Mistresses and Concubines
Tumblr media
Camilla Parker Bowles is probably one of the most famous mistresses in the modern era. She has Punarvasu sun & mercury and is Pushya rising
Tumblr media
Monica Lewinsky has Pushya sun & Punarvasu mercury
Tumblr media
Angelina Jolie has Pushya venus & rising, along with Saturn in Punarvasu amatyakaraka
Tumblr media
for those of you who don't know, Ben Affleck cheated on JLo with Jennifer Garner and then married her. JGarner has Ketu in Pushya whereas JLo is a Pushya moon
Tumblr media
Tom Brady left his pregnant wife to marry Gisele Bundchen, who has Pushya sun and Punarvasu mercury
Tumblr media
Blake Shelton was still married to Miranda Lambert when he started seeing Gwen Stefani who has Punarvasu moon
Tumblr media
Madhuri Dixit, in perhaps her most iconic role, plays a courtesan named Chandramukhi in the movie Devdas. She has Pushya moon conjunct Jupiter
Tumblr media
its pretty well known that Priyanka Chopra had an affair with the much married Shah Rukh Khan (not the first time she was accused of being a mistress) PC is Punarvasu sun & mercury
Tumblr media
Marlene Dietrich who was best known for playing femme fatale- esque, mistress-y roles had Pushya moon
I was very surprised to find Punarvasu and Pushya nakshatras crop up so often as they're often considered to be the "goody good girls" but perhaps this is what makes them so desirable to men, so much so that they're ready to wreck and ruin their lives, careers and marriages to chase these women. I had mentioned in another post about how since Cancer is the most feminine sign, women with these placements are often considered the ideal wife/gf and I suppose this is the shadow side to that. Desirability is a double edged sword and must be wielded carefully. obviously i dont condone cheating nor am i making it sound like a positive thing but i thought it was an interesting recurring pattern nonetheless!!
