I have more information under the cut, but the TL;DR of it all is “don’t be rude to me, and I have my blog organized into various tags.“

I believe my art should be seen by anyone, and as such I don't have a set DNI. However, I expect you to treat me and my art with respect. Whether you agree with what I say through my art or not, I expect the respect you give any other person. I do not want to gatekeep my art, but I will not hesitate to block you if I don't like your attitude about what I create. 

I plan to keep my posts organized by theme, I will try my best to tag all posts with the appropriate tags so you can filter out the things you don’t want to see! This post will have all of my existing tags if you’d like to filter my posts by them.

LMAO Clay I shit you not I was in the middle of writing an ask to *you* saying, first of all, no worries at all about the fucky tumblr tags haha this is the hellsite and I read that tag as sarcasm anyways so dw dw lol I know you're not like that haha 🫂.

And second of all, that I was nodding very emphatically reading your tags yeah I'm also quite conflicted- increasingly so frankly, and I can relate to your description of being *so* sad from it that it kind of falls flat? As for like, whether I find it satisfying from a narrative standpoint or not, *honestly* as more time passes the more I can feel my own opinions going from positive to... Mixed? I agree that the Swifts deserved more time, period (absolutely) and that there was so much left unexplored... And that it would have felt more satisfying if we got more with them...

Hm. With the interaction as it was, I honestly think I would have liked it much more if it happened like, midway through the season? Giving Nicky enough time to step up and really prove himself to Taylor? Though of course we return then to the issue of that family not having enough time in general!

Conversely... I think I could have been happier with Taylor's decision happening at the end here and simultaneously been *less* uh absolutely heartbroken if it had been delivered differently like, tonally? I suppose I feel like... Combining all of their previous interactions prior over the course of the season, the complications surrounding Nicky's abandoment to begin with (listen could my man have sent a letter now and again abso-fucking-lutely but bro also had all his friends turn against him and was tortured by the FBI who he didn't want hurting his family like it's not so black and white at all), and maybe most of all the fact that Nicky genuinely *was* trying to be there for Taylor post-reuiniting in Hell... Combining all those things, it's not that I think Taylor is wrong to decide still that his dad wasn't there for him before so he doesn't want him now, as sad as that is I think it's still very understandable and certainly *interesting*, but the *cruelty* in how he delivered that blow is what came as a bit of a shocker to me and just doesn't feel good to me with. Well with all those other things I mentioned. Again, that's if we're keeping this interaction at the very end here, having Taylor chew out his dad the way he did way earlier could have been great.

IS. Is where I'm currently at with that I think? Yeah lol. Like there's more thoughts for sure but I would surely go on several tangents haha.

If you haven't watched Mushishi btw I highly recommend! even when I haven't finished it yet. Particularly good for a chill watch. I hesitate to call it an easy watch because sometimes what it posits with its little creatures and stories is. haunting? Fucked up? But other times is soft or sad or at least bittersweet.

Also if you are like me and love faerie lore and vibes, it plays a LOT in that space, of missing time and lost ways and consequences for unheeded advice. The sound design is also genuinely So Fucking Good, it's kind of insane w/headphones.

It's also made of capsule episodes? As you watch more and more in order, you pick up more and more about the world, and it rewards youa bit for paying attention, but there's not a constant overarching plot to worry about. Protagonist Ginko is just traveling, helping people afflicted by little spirits while trying to keep the balance between said spirits and humanity. Sometimes he barely even shows up. Sometimes there's not even anything he can do, he's just put in a Situation. By this point, I get scared when it seems like a main plot hook could be kicking up frankly but then, Ginko is kind of made up of anime death flags imo so I have right to be scared I digress

i want to make it clear btw i honest to god dont actually care that much about internet discourse. like yeah i definitely agree with certain points more but when i rb those things its mostly in good fun.

idgaf if someone uses weird pronouns and gender labels honestly!! its stupid to me and i dont get it and i’ll rb posts making jokes abt it but if someone irl tells me they use neos im just going to nod and move on, maybe ask if they have alt pronouns bc neos are hard for me to use.

idk i guess i’d still be considered by definition a transmed but im tired of people villainizing either side of that “debate” as if we’re not all going through the same shit at the hands of legislature and bigots. i shouldnt have to worry about being put in a blocklist because one time i said that trans people have dysphoria and didnt qualify that with every little detail of my viewpoint on what makes someone trans (which, btw, i feel like is a lot more than dysphoria but online discourse thrives on lack of nuance). i also dont think its fair to discount anyones view because they define transness broader than you do! just like. chill? idk.

5: "what made you start your blog?" honestly i think it was because i was just looking for a place where i could be myself and post (or rb rather) whatever i wanted, free of judgment or ridicule. it's basically just my comfort space. i think that's what's great about tumblr: most people are chill here and just vibe however they want to, without the drama and toxicity of other platforms. i especially wanted this blog to be dedicated to the nu metal/mall goth scene of the 1990s and 2000s (along with any other media from that era that i like) because it was a very unique and special time unlike any other imo, a time that i hold close to me despite never really living in it. ofc i do post some stuff unrelated to that here, but still that's the general idea of this blog.

28: "do you collect anything?" i'm not a huge collector but i am fond of collecting CDs of albums that i like, DVDs, and any gaming stuff that i like, especially nintendo :] i also like collecting knives and old books that i find as well.

Two cool gen 3 gals?? Why not why not yk? If you look at Leaf's concept art, she has a Combusken with her in the snow. If you believe, maybe May is somewhere off screen. When I mentioned Evolutions, they just have that action-based personality that seems to click you know? That reckless adventure thing? If you go further deep into Pokemon lore with the Kanto war theory, Silph rivalry with Devon, and the economy. Then Hoenn is arguably better off than Kanto, which is more impoverished without a Champion in Gen 1 and Team Rocket running around. You have Birth Island, where you can find Deoxys in both FRLG and in Emerald. There are places they can meet. Siri play "a whole new world" from Aladdin because you gotta take your new bff not yet gf to a clean functioning region and watch her be baffled at all the new things and concepts. You will never find a food court in Kanto, they will charge you a million for a bike. I am also huge on extending the Dad Lance agenda to Leaf (she's the most neglected pokegirl in fandom, and excluded even here where Red and Blue aren't.) Some of this is Pokemon Special, some of this is the fact Trace calls her "big sis" in the Japanese version of Evolutions, some of this is beta!Blue (the first version of her character of the unnamed female protagonist) that we make angsty art of in a metaphysical sense as if these characters know they were deleted from the game. It's fun. In my little world, she was late to Giovanni's gym and found the HGSS cutscene of Gio leaving happening while she hid behind a lampost and kicked Lance's door down like "yo old man, you'll never guess what I just saw" except my brain is more complicated than that and I go back and forth on how the story plays out for one ask. It can get more angsty and tragic too because imagine texting your bff not yet gf while chilling in Lance's office (if Red is on a mountain, Blue is running the gym, then by all means, split the champion title between them so he doesn't collapse at his desk) and in Kanto: one day Cinnabar island erupts, and in Hoenn one day: there's a meteor set to destroy the world in 4 days. imagine their world being the world where ORAS Devon succeeded in transporting it into another dimension. what do you say at the end of the world? think about the potential Celebi holds when you want to save someone. think of the consequences of attempting to use a mythical Pokemon like that when Arceus/Mew find out. will you become the villain here just for that...?

YES I SAW THE SOULSILVERS REDWOOD ART i have to go rb that actually.... also yes when i first got the redwood request my first instict was to go "huh???" but i stopped and thought about them for 2 seconds and i'm now obsessed with them. my new favorite rare pair. and also yes i am the perfect person to influence with agendas and rarepairs. gestures at my own agendas like rocket siblings. i used to spend Hours with my friend coming up with aus and obscure dynamics i am So Susceptible to agendas.

also yeah leaf is absolutely one of the most just. underrated and overlooked female protagonists. from what i've seen it'd be her and the alola protag i think. and the reasons you've outlined are a huge chunk of the reasons why!

Read your vent post and I have had a nearly IDENTICAL experience. I also just personally kind of hate the whole "fandom" experience in general because even when people have said a fandom is chill, it's still felt overhwleming, if not unhealthy in some way. (Sorry this is already longer than I meant it to be). I dunno if this is remotely helpful but I just treat my side blogs as a way to compile stuff, including my art, and I try to think of it as strictly my own space so I don't worry as much about other people. Of course it's still important to do what's right for your mental health even if that means taking a social media break. Either way though, I assure you, your art is awesome and there's no need to doubt yourself. Social media just kind of sucks!✌️ (No need to post this btw, just wanted to say something)

hey!! you!!! <3 this is the official tobin's plans for music updates post!! anxiously awaited i know. anyways...

first big news:

I AM DONE WRITING POLARIS!!!!

crazy i know. polaris was essientially written just to see if i even could write an album. it was also specifically written to sound good sung live to an accoustic guitar (or occasional ukulele) so i wouldn't have to learn production and could just learn to write music. and i think it's pretty alright for a first attempt at writing music (and making a cohesive album).

however, when i sit down to write music currently, i can't do it within the constraint of that album. which at first i thought was writer's block, but i've recently realized is actually just because... polaris is done. i have nothing more to write for that project. nothing more to add to that story. which is fucking awesome. i wrote an album. that's so cool??

so now...

what's going to happen with polaris?

the plan is to record each song a little more professionally than the demos posted on tumblr, get some sort of album cover and name to release the songs under, and put them onto youtube. probably soundcloud also, and maybe bandcamp (i've heard about it but never used it myself), but not spotify or apple music or anything like that.

the timeline for this is vaguely "sometime in 2022" at the moment, but will likely come before that (i like to set the bar low and pleasantly surprise myself). the songs that aren't linked in the polaris masterpost probably won't be shared until i release them on youtube simply because i'm lazy.

polaris aside...

what comes next?

now that i know i CAN write music (and how to), it's time to learn production (and get things like a mic LMAOOO)

polaris's style (music, type of lyrics, the way i handled the album) were very much inspired by the album give me a minute by lizzy mcalpine. the next style of music i really want to conquer is that of the album you and your friends by peach pit.

if all goes according to plan, that will be recorded slightly more professionally, hopefully with more professional equipment (though still out of my bedroom :pensive:). not trying to jinx it but my hope is for that album to be put under a different name and on spotify/apple music/etc, not just youtube and soundcloud etc.

in conclusion,

i am SO hyped to see where my music goes. thank you to everyone who's supported polaris the past few months, im glad you guys have enjoyed it :D excited to put it on youtube and be done with it tho lmao i have greener pastures to attend to
