wait I said this in the tags of another post and have previously tried to express these thoughts but did so poorly; while I don't think canon compatibility necessarily has as much importance in fandom with lgbtq+ headcanons if there isn't a queer reading of a character that is canonically compatible, and I don't think that fandom having differing headcanons for characters not meant to be lgbtq+ can ever fully be categorized as erasure in general

I do think when there is a queer reading of a character that is completely compatible with canon and is relevant to the themes of the story yet is given significantly less attention or is all but ignored in a fandom for headcanons that require at least some suspension of disbelief and/or changes to the text to reach their full potential, that starts to tread somewhere at least adjacent to the territory of erasure. and while I think individually people can still prefer whatever headcanon they want, it can say something about a fandom as a whole if there isn't any thought to, or if there's even refusal to give visibility to the more canonically accurate queer reading

and I think it's also important to look out for situations where that reading might be ignored because it's "less palatable", either as an identity itself and/or the presentation of that identity, to those in the community that tend to not like nonconformity or look down on certain identities, like transmedicalists ect...

#I'm not in too many fandoms so i dunno how OFTEN this happens #but i sure am vastly aware of one example of it #meat.txt #while i know lots of people like it for projection i do think its important to recognize transmasc Jesse is also like #a perfect transmasc example for a transmedicalist to latch onto as well #and because theres a higher rate of transmedicalism in the transmasc community this is another area of hesitence #that i have with the popularity of that headcanon vs egg transfem Jesse #espec since while any level of physical transition still could be accurate for Jesse #there's honestly not much indication that appearance is the focus of her identity #really good candidate for being a no-med no-op trans person

Simon and his team were tortured in brainwashing facilities for months. Vernon couldn’t break Simon and ended up ordered to die by Roba. Simon was buried alive with Vernon and broke out with Vernon’s jawbone due to Vernon’s rotting corpse. Simon ended up crossing the border to Texas and got healed from injuries but suffered from temper-management issues which didn’t allow him to return back to active duty. He later met up with two of his former teammates, Sparks and Washington but he found out that they were both broken and brainwashed by Roba. He ended up trying to kill Sparks but Washington interfered. He returned to his home to find his mother and his brother and his family all dead. He killed Sparks and Washington and then went on his journey to find and kill Roba. He worked solo and killed Roba and his men and ended up being recruited by General Shepard to join Task Force 141."

getting genuinely pressed abt any fnaf character being "accurate" is very funny to me. there are literally scraps of characterization in the games so almost all the interpretations are people just projecting whatever they like onto the characters

watched the kdrama celebrity over the last few days. was hooked from the first few seconds bc the EDITING in the show, & just the cinematography in general is on a whole nother fuckin level, man.

also, just. a really great show in general. v good at building suspense & throwing loops & very nice themes/takeaways. also just a rly interesting way to convey those themes/takeaways.

i think the only issue we had w it was the romance, but. eh. it wasn't so bad that it took away from the ample amount of good shit in the show.

def recommend it!! especially to anyone who really enjoyed the glory bc it has v similar themes.
