i always loved Spock's reaction to the Romulans being revealed for the first time, the entire bridge staring at him, and he is just like "...would you look at that?? lol"

So I found this in the English version of ToS, which I'm more or less watching on YouTube:
Tumblr media
it's.
the French version (which I'm 99.5% sure was translated from the English) goes with this:
Tumblr media
which can be a translation of the above! but that's not the most obvious meaning.
The most obvious way to understand the French text is: "as a parent, I'll let you go." (The pronoun choice changes the meaning a lot!)
English version Renegades in Triet: "Genis is a half-elf" (something I assume that first-time players might not pick up on, or might later come to believe they misunderstood based on Raine and Genis saying they're elves)
French version: "lol way too early for that. Get Renegades not being the worst instead."

dirk dad
words cannot describe how appreciative i am of Shady Dirk. the man makes counterfeit relics!! granted the one example of this we’re provided is not some dodgy black market stuff, the relic actually goes to the Church but. still. you’re helping someone cover up a lie by making a fake, Mr Dirk!!! what about dwarven vow number 11 mister dirk??? But hey, he’s got a kid to keep fed and clothed. goodness and love in the end! Like. I love it. For all his hammering the dwarven vows as this ubiquitous moral code, he doesn’t mind bending the rules a little if he has to. (And i do think that rubs off on Lloyd as well. lloyd’s not above deceiving, playing mind games and using a little bit of trickery if he feels it’s justified)
That’s how i love to draw the parallel between kratos and dirk tho like. Dirk abides by his moral code very strictly except when he doesn’t. He has no qualms about overlooking the very rules he likes to quote at the drop of a hat for the greater good (and like that’s not necessarily a dichotomy. maybe dwarven vow number 7 transcends all the others and it’s ok to disregard a vow or two if you do it for love and justice. also tbh it seems the dwarven vows are numerous enough that you can probably find some that contradict one another anyway. and i would argue that’s by design). So that’s why he keeps some things from Lloyd and makes fake spiritual statues. he has his own way of solving the moral dilemmas that come his way, i think. Doesn’t mean it’s necessarily easy for him every time, but he knows to trust himself and create flexibility when need be. Kratos on the other hand, doesn’t. He wants to be loyal to his friend and his friend’s ideals. That’s what guides him, period. And so long as said friend remains faithful to his ideals, that’s all well and good, but the moment Friend starts acting counter to his own ideals, Kratos BSODs. he’ll stay in denial for a couple decades or centuries, then he’ll abandon ship and and wander around aimlessly for a couple extra decades not truly committing one way or another, until he finally meets Someone who can (knowingly or not) answer the question: “is it ok to turn against my mass-enslaver genocidal shadow-of-his-former-self of a friend (i did say i would always be by his side so idk)??”. (and then when that Someone goes bye-bye, he’s back to square one, we know the drill)
this would be a no-brainer for dirk i think? idk. anyway
dirk knowingly crafts counterfeit objects of worship that are subsequently used to trick hundreds upon hundreds of people so he can put food on the table and i think that makes him interesting (and fun) (do you think a part of him enjoys doing it. do you think he takes pride knowing that his statue might fool even the most zealous devouts. i dont have the answer to that question)

I realized there are people watching snw that are like just watching without knowing any tos plot points. Like I get not wanting to watch tos (it has rough moments) but it is amazing how you’d experience it from that perspective.
Like imagining being like — oh so what becomes of Spock and tpring? Will Sam Kirk die next season? Or chapel? What’s with this time travel episode?

Best Starfleet XO by rowdiness
Ransom. Stabbed the captain's daughter AND tried to eat the ship AND gets on everybody's nerves with tales of his bench press high score. Understood the assignment, A+, no notes.
Burnham. Got so rowdy. Like, SO rowdy. Amazing XO. Ultimately didn't stab her captain, which is good for her, but bad for my personal entertainment.
Kira. Built a kiln and then burned it down. Pointed and laughed at Dukat. Got so rowdy she fought *for* the Cardassians at one point. Should have stabbed more people, mostly Damar.
Spock. The other S'chn T'gai. Tried to kill the captain, and he would have gotten away with it too, if it hadn't been for that lousy doctor. Swordfought that lousy doctor.
Gwyn. Tried to stab multiple people, most of them on purpose.
Una. Knocked out two department heads in the same episode. Heck yes!
Seven. I haven't seen PIC, but I heard Jeri Ryan was in it and I loved her in Leverage, so I hope she got to stab lots of people. <3
Tuvok. Love that guy, the brain cell, trolled the Maquis. I saw like two episodes of Voy, no idea if he stabbed anyone, but I really want him to.
T'Pol. Points deducted for ending more fights than she starts as far as I've seen. Super secret super agent, but sadly, I have yet to see her stab Archer. She should stab Archer. As a treat.
You know, I can't actually remember if Chakotay or Tuvok were XO of Voy and I'm too lazy to look it up, so I would like to encourage someone else to sing his praises and tell me about how cool he was until I get round to it.
Tysess. Politely yet firmly told Janeway no that one time. Boo!
Riker. Got a little pouty that one time when his boss was abducted and his replacement boss made them all work less. Could definitely teach that man tricks with treats and clicker training, which is probably why the psychiatrist was into him.

I have the TOS brainrot ♡
Have a headcanon!
Semi-spoilers for S2 Ep10: Journey to Babel
So, basically, Scotty and Spock are cousins because they're my favorite blorbos and it works ok!!!
Spock & Scotty's grandparents, Muriel and Patrick Scott, divorced when their mothers, Amanda and Anna Scott were 10 years old. Amanda Scott, later Grayson--her mother's surname, moved to New England (take your pick, I personally get DC vibes) to work for Starfleet while Anna Scott stayed in Aberdeen with their father.
Amanda, after kicking Sarek's ass for "insulting her intelligence" and subsequently marrying him (cause that's totally how that went), moved to Vulcan and had Spock; who canonically left Vulcan at 18 to attend Starfleet Academy.
During the summer, at her request, Spock stayed with his Aunt Anna, in the hopes of connecting with the nephew she didn't know she had until literally 2 hours prior because communications between Vulcan and Earth take Far Longer Than They Should and also Amanda and Anna kinda lost contact 3 years after "The Separation". Through this random arrangement, Anna was able to connect with her nephew, who got both incredibly homesick and lonely during his time on Earth, by teaching him how to play Earth games like Chess and Stramash. He, in turn, opened up a bit and was able to teach Anna a few Vulcan phrases like "hello" and "goodnight", because--contrary to popular belief--Spock was far more antisocial and silent in his early days at the Academy than he ever was on the Enterprise because his Aunt Anna (he called her "Aun'tanna", and she called him "Squawk" in return cause we love a Canonically dyslexic family ♡; Anna having visual and Spock having deep and visual) and her son, Montgomery (or "Won'ry" as Spock called him), worked really hard to undo all of the literal child abuse he had been faced with.
Sarek did his best with what he thought was right for a Vulcan child but did not take into account that Spock is not only dyslexic (canonically) but also autistic (fanonically) and did not know how to accommodate him because it was an Undocumented Phenomenon (The term "Autism Spectrum Disorder" was created in 1988 but was not made a formal diagnosis until 2013; which could not have happened in Star Trek: TOS because it is preceeded by The Eugenics Wars from 1992-1996) in Both Humans and Vulcans, so she defaulted to "spare the rod, spoil the child." (If you don't believe me go rewatch Journey to Babel and tell me that's the first time she's done that to him based purely on his reaction. You know the scene.)
Also, Scotty didn't realize they were cousins until month 3 of their 5 year mission on the Enterprise when Anna brought a photo album with her shortly after they docked for shore leave and showed them pictures of her and her sister as kids. He thought that Spock was just a random Vulcan exchange student living in their house for like 4 years that his mom kinda "adopted".
Spock has drunk Scotty under the table (the equivalent of a full keg of Scotch) before immediately passing out after a single Scottish Jersey (Scotch Hot Chocolate).
And thus, this image was born!

Operation: Give Spock As Many Friends As Possible (also Operation: Everyone On The Enterprise is Neurodivergent) is in full swing! :D
I hereby dub this hc "S'Cousins"!

New fic, wherein (post-canon) Lloyd has a sudden panic attack because Zelos cooks him dinner and some latent trauma about being drugged by him comes up without his knowledge.
Of course this snippet takes place right before shit actually goes down.
