I've seen so many people make fun of Suguru's "family" for being 'weak', saying stuff like

"bro wanted to start a revolution and picked the absolute worst sorcerers ever lol what a dumbass"

but that's like... Not... Correct? LKMSADLMDL. Suguru didn't "pick" anyone as far as I'm aware. The sorcerers there were sorcerers who agreed with him and his life-ideals and his goals, and wanted to follow his plan for revolution.

I think Gege's choice on making him call them his "family" is both because Suguru is a cult leader, so this so-called family of his are like, his "chosen ones" or whatever, y'know. Suguru being delusional /l-h. Like let's not forget this man has a mad starving need for being the center of attention after he left the Academy.

But also Suguru's own desperate need to feel like he belongs somewhere with his equals. I think that's why his first (delusional) choice after rescuing the girls was to kill his blood family. "He doesn't need them anymore" means he's not going to pretend to fit in with anyone ever again. He has a new group of people he feels he truly belongs to now and by murdering his family, he's also murdering his past self.

I heard in a video that during Hidden Inventory, the only times we see Suguru being actually happy is when he has his friends (his 'family') around. Now he doesn't have them anymore, but he has freedom, right? He's not shackled by the laws of the Academy anymore. And yet...

He still deeply craves that connection, that need to belong somewhere with someone. He needs the validation, he needs the love, he needs the admiration, he needs someone to fill the void cuz at the end, Suguru was never going to be actually happy with himself anyway. No matter what he chose.

Miguel:

A curse user from overseas. he fights using a rope woven for decades by a jujutsu sorcerer from his home country. he’s pretty powerful.
