மரம் என்றால் என்ன?

மரம் என்பது இவ்வுலகில் வாழும் உயிர்களுக்கு கிடைத்த இன்றியமையாத இயற்கை வளம் ஆகும். நாம் உயிர் வாழ நிலம், நீர், காற்று எவ்வளவு முக்கியமோ அதே அளவுக்கு இந்த மரங்கள் அவசியம் வாய்ந்தவையாகும்.

உண்மையாக சொன்னால், இவை எல்லாவற்றையும் பாதுக்காப்பதே இந்த மரங்கள் தான்.

நமது அடிப்படைத் தேவைகளான உணவு, உடை, உறையுள் ஆகிய இவை மூன்றுக்கும் மூல ஆதாரமாக நாம் மரங்களையே பயன்படுத்துகிறோம்.

மரம் என்றால் என்ன?

மரம் என்றால் இலைகளின் துணையுடன் நீண்ட நடுத்தண்டை கொண்ட பல ஆண்டுகள் வாழக்கூடிய தாவரம் ஆகும்.

பல மரங்கள் தண்டின் அங்கங்களாக கிளைகளை கொண்டிருக்கின்றன. சில மரங்கள் கிளைகள் இன்றியும் உயரமாக வளர்கின்றன. உதாரணமாக தென்னை மரம், பனை மரம், வாழை மரம் போன்ற மரங்களை குறிப்பிடலாம்.

மரங்கள் அவற்றின் உறுதிக்காக மர திசுக்களை கொண்டிருக்கின்றன. அத்துடன், பாதிப்புகளிலிருந்து பாதுகாப்பதற்கு அவற்றின் தண்டை சுற்றி மரப்பட்டைகளை கொண்டுள்ளன.

மேலும், மூலப்பொருட்களை ஒரு பகுதியிலிருந்து இன்னொரு பகுதிக்கு கொண்டு செல்ல செல்குழாய் நாளம் சார்ந்த திசுக்களை தன்னகத்தே வைத்திருக்கின்றன.

பல வகையான மரங்கள் சூரிய ஒளியை பெறுவதற்கு ஏனைய மரங்களுடன் போட்டியிட்டு உயரமாகவும் பரவலாகவும் வளர தண்டும் கிளைகளும் அவற்றுக்கு தோற்றுவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன.
