A free verse poem of twitter’s identity change

Birds of which have witnessed much

War

Death

Sickness

Pecking their beaks on the heads of those who soon will have all but a rotted shell remaining

Birds who never were prey but the predator itself

Feasting on the living’s helpless open wounds

There’s no chance of healing what was ruined

For there’s too much to say

Too much to digest

Too much to absorb

A drug so addictive even without nicotine

News

Lust

Toxicity

Censorship never needed practice

Speech with as much freedom as a bird ascending to the clouds

The birds never stray from what’s familiar

Migration with its own kind

Back to the absorbing beacon like a moth to lamp

Knowing their only bound to be killed by their notice being taken

Death may be the lowest

But living in eternal suffering is lower

Maybe finish the job instead of trying to do what would have the intention of healing

Or leave nature be

Let it run its course

Don’t capture it and take it hostage

Oh, but if both were to happen

Only a steep downhill slope will prevail

Ruins of the lives of both the predator and to the prey

It’s not worth it now, is it?

Taking a dangerous life form in attempts to better it for only one set of eyes?

wounds cannot be mended back together without leaving a scar

Yet the bird which has been caged was slit to no point of return

Nothing but a grating ‘x’ slashed upon its wounded self

It cries in pain

Shrieks of torment and broken screams begging for relief

Bystanders begging for it to be healed for a chance to redeem what it once was

Selfless demons don’t care for that

All that matters is the bird has a mark of their own

A kiss to the torturous and crippling seething it will forever have to endure

What those cruel devils fail to realize

A wound of such will never let those wings soar to the skies again

And as long as they keep it alive

Struggling its way through every useless moment

It won’t be able to fly it’s way to heaven as a memory to live within us

All that bird will ever be is a sour sight to all who see

And a disheartening one to all who’ve seen it once soar

And a hopeless one to the ones who know that it can be still saved

What a shame

Knowing the useless truth

As long as the bird is breathing

That’s all that will ever matter.
