Nadine would buy an alpaca farm in Iceland with her finder's fee from the ministry of culture + the profits from auctioning off the last of Shoreline's assets, vehicles, and munitions. It would be an impulsive move for her after her father verbally eviscerates her at a party.

And she feels she can't show her face around Johannesburg, or even Cape Town ( where most of Shoreline was based) again.

Chloe would sniff at the beautiful scenery. "Quiet. Unspoilt." She'd mutter, walking down the two tire tracks that were the driveway. Three animals were currently visible in the pasture to her right. They looked like sheep and ponies and giraffes fused together.

Chloe tried to imagine Nadine, with her manicured fingers, shoveling alpaca shit. Or shearing these behemoths. She always had a grace to her under the military veneer, and Chloe knew for a fact she dressed in Burberry when not on the battlefield.

There was a little off road vehicle parked by the front door. Chloe looked around for the other source of the tire tracks, but there was none. She gave the door some knocks. Hope she lets me do some stunts on it, Chloe thought, looking over at the handlebars.

"Who is it?" Came through the heavy light-wooden door.

Chloe chuckled at the nerves in Nadine's voice. "The Easter bunny."

She heard a couple of latches and deadbolts open and the door opened, and she got her delicious eye full of Nadine wearing a rather well-fitting sweater. Chloe stepped over the threshold and embraced her, not waiting for words.

"Chloe you--didn't--oof--call--"

"Yeah, china. Your line was always dead or busy," Chloe said.

"I--the battery--died," A blush was filling Nadine's cheeks as Chloe cupped them in her hands.

"A likely story. You wouldn't be avoiding calls from family, right?"

The ex-Shoreline leader finally shut the door behind Chloe and pushed away from her.

"Why did you come all the way here?"

Because Nadine had sent a wool hat and a postcard with the northern lights and Chloe felt the chill when she pressed it to her heart. And oh yeah. The gig.

"Is that a loom," Chloe said instead.

"Don't play with it," Nadine snapped. "And you didn't answer me."

"Did you expect me to write a letter back? Thought I'd save money posting myself over instead of paying for international package."

Nadine snorted as she sat down by the window. It was, Chloe now saw, a nook. Her tea and book were on a table in front of her armchair.

"Ja. Only polite to write back."

Chloe took stock of her surroundings for the first time. Besides the antique-looking loom, the high ceiling with huge wooden beams, the long windows drawn with patterned curtains Chloe was almost positive Nadine had brought from home, it was sparingly decorated. There were rugs warming the stone floor and an old black stove with chopped wood stacked beside it. Its pipe went out to the wall instead of a chimney.

Chloe put her bag down on the table and plopped down in Nadine's lap.

"Hey!"

Chloe pressed her ear into Nadine's clavicle, closing her eyes as the woman made an indignant noise.

"Chloe what are you doing."

Chloe made the universal "I don't know" mumble. She felt Nadine slip the hat off her. The woman's thighs shifted a little under her own.

"You're not really going to fall asleep on me are you."

"Not...with that attitude...china..."

Chloe ended the sentence with a yawn and felt Nadine's ribs rumble with a small laugh. She curled more into her, feeling Nadine's arm come around her back as she got back to her book.

The smell of Nadine, and the berry-like aroma of the rooibos, and the distant calls of the alpacas already felt like a dream. She slipped away from wakefulness.

you know what sucks? is knowing that bend studios were working on the lost legacy sequel but they pulled out of the project and it got shelved. like, it hurts so badly to know we could've gotten it after all.

i know it's what they were working on -- due to 2 factors (i could be wrong but hear me out). they mentioned in an article that it was an uncharted spin-off/franchise reboot game but that it was intended to be big (expected to take 5 years to develop, can't find the source anymore tho sorry) so i imagine they may have wanted to incorporate a more open-world aspect to it (which sounds sick, imagine getting to pick where to treasure hunt).

second point of evidence is me reaching a bit but it seemed a bit too coincidental - the official lost legacy playlist got 5 new songs updated to it in march 2020 (image shows example of 2/5 of the new songs) which were added in specific parts of the playlist - bearing in mind none of the uncharted playlists have been updated since their initial release (apart from sam's due to his appearance in TLL)

seemed a bit too coincidental to me - but in the end of march 2020, bend pulled out from the project so it was shelved and likely to be cancelled.

to know we were so damn close to getting a sequel makes me so sad - i think ND wanted to delegate it to another studio so they could focus on their new IP/multiplayer, but i have a feeling unless another studio jumps in to help, we won't see it for at least 7-10+ years which fucking sucks.

i just pray that nd keep chloe and nadine's dynamic alive somehow, even if just via comics or a book or anything, really. it's been 5 years and i miss them a lot.

uncharted golden abyss full review come and get it

overall: 6.5/10, good, compelling characters with a great haunting of the narrative on behalf of non-existent sam, but bogged down by ooc jokes and quips that gave misogyny and transphobia

i get that it’s not a naughty dog game and not the same writers were working on it

but while it had really great concepts some of the banter didn’t hit the mark enough for me to go lower than a 7. what i love abt all 4 games + ll is the banter. it establishes character very well, makes the audience relate more to the character, but doesn’t overextend it when it doesn’t need to happen (cough marvel). at least in the first four games + tll.

and when the banter is good in ga it’s really good. i loved nate’s dynamic with dante, i love that dante sucked massive shit. and even if sam wasn’t an established character at this time, i could see how his death might’ve influenced nate to work with dante.

dante shoving the fact that nate was basically a nobody who has done nothing WAS SO FUCKING POIGNANT, especially with the undercurrent of the sam haunting the narrative!!!! like fuck!! “what have you done in the last ten years except work pissant jobs for schlubs like me?” WHAT A GREAT LINE, and then nate pointing a gun at him LIKE UGH!!!! imagine ur brother died three or so years ago, and this ASSHOLE just throws it in ur face that you have accomplished NONE of what you wanted to do together. THATS FUCKING COLD AND RAW AND I FUCKING LOVED IT.

and then the dynamic between marisa and nate was great too! she really feeds off nate well, and tbh while i definitely got more of a friendship vibe off of them, i didn’t hate it that there was romantic tension there either. that being said, sometimes. and i mean sometimes. the way nate talked to her rubbed me the wrong way, and not only did it feel ooc for nate but it felt degrading to marisa. it was like having 95% of the cupcakes in the batch being great, and then 5% being either meh or just plain bad. the reason i say this is because i felt like they had a fun dynamic as being both knowledgeable on history, but nate was. somewhat harsh on her for seemingly no reason. sometimes the banter felt like boomer comedy, Oh She’s The Nagging Wife and he’s the Tired Husband.

like even as a joke, it just doesn’t suit nate and it really rubbed me the wrong way. enough to me that those 5% of sour cupcakes in the batch tasted enough bad for me to be like :/

sully was also great in this for 95% of the game and then like. that god damn 5%!!!! like he’s always been a womanizer, but the way he talked abt women in this game was a lil more gross than normal. for me, it always seemed like sully would talk abt his partners, but idk. there was just something lacking in respect in how he talked abt them in this game. like. at the end he jokes abt two girls he finds attractive, at some point pontificating abt a girl’s lips. like which. idk. he’s always been a dirty old man. i just never really heard him talk abt…body parts. he always seemed too polite for that, if that makes sense.

what really drove the nail on the coffin for me was the very final line in the game. nate made a joke abt how sully slept w a woman’s “brother named isabel”. which is just. straight up transphobia meant to be a dig at sully and his masculinity (thank u danger on discord for putting my brain thoughts into words). and it’s just so!!! ew!!! don’t assign my nathan as a transphobe. canon disregarded and thrown away. thanks.

but again like i said, MOST of the banter was good. i love that nate was a lil environmentalist, and he’s still good at heart and you can tell. dante is 1000% the best pre uc4 antagonist FOR SURE, i will always remember how he understood nathan and used it against him and i just. ugh. i kinda wanna like him more than rafe is that crazy?

anyways. it just had some lil Written By Men moments that made me feel icky enough to rate it lower bc of that. but besides that, a lot of fun. cant rate it higher than uc1, but again. would watch again just for the dante and nate banter.

State of the Page

We're about 5 months out from the 7th anniversary of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, and just trying to absorb that fact makes me realize how long this little fandom has been going, and how very near and dear this ship is to my heart. As far as fandoms go, it's been one of the most rewarding and fulfilling I've ever been in.

With that said, I have come to a somber realization that as time goes on, keeping that interest alive has gotten more difficult. Chlodine Week started out as a celebration for Chloe and Nadine, back when the game was new and fresh on our minds. But more recently, it's felt like a desperate attempt to keep a fandom alive. The last couple of years, I've tried my best to put something big out there. But other than myself and a few dedicated, consistent artists who seem in it for the long haul, I'd be lying if I said I haven't been disheartened at how much engagement has dwindled.

I guess I'm making this post to say that right now, the future of Chlodine Week is uncertain. The last year has been particularly difficult for me, mentally and physically. This movement has been a labor of love, but since it's become more of a one-woman show, I question my ability to keep it going alone.

I'm making no determinations at this moment, but I wanted to put this out there and gauge the current pulse on the fandom. Are we still alive? Is this thing still worth doing? Is there anything that could be done differently? Right now I don't have the answer to any of these questions, and maybe in a few months I'll feel differently, but just wanted to let you all know where I'm at.

I love you all. I love Chlodine. Regardless of what happens, that will never change. In the meantime, thank you for listening!
