How 5G will transform the education sector in India- STEMROBO Technologies
The Covid-19 pandemic induced prolonged #school closures all over the world. The pandemic affected billions of children worldwide, keeping them out of school. As a result, the global #education system evolved dramatically, with the rise of #elearning , in which teaching is done remotely and on digital platforms.
If the coronavirus pandemic has taught us anything, #onlineeducation has progressed from an option to a requirement. Schools, #colleges, and #universities have been forced to implement digital ways of working to ensure that students can continue to learn. No #educationalinstitution wants to slow down its students’ academic performance, whether a college, university or business school. As a result, educational institutions have redirected their efforts toward adapting their teaching systems to the virtual ecosystem.
The pandemic not only forced education institutions to adopt online and hybrid mode of teaching but also gave birth to a new industry called #Edtech which witnessed an exponential growth in the last few years, making India the world’s edtech capital.
In spite of week internet connections E-learning got a great response from the Indians though it couldn’t last long. As soon as the authorities lifted the covid restrictions, majority of the population switched back to the traditional method of #learning.
As e-learning experience wasn’t that fruitful for everyone, students living in tier 2 and tier 3 cities faced a lot of issues due to weak internet output.
During the same period, the government introduced the New Education Policy, making it mandatory for the #K12 students to participate in #ExperientialLearning such as #Robotics, #STEMEducation, #AI, IoT, #3Dprinting, Design Thinking, Entrepreneurship, and #Coding in schools. This came in as a big step by the government to promote the early adoption of #STEM education and #21stcenturyskills in schools.
Initiatives like the establishment of Atal Tinkering Labs were implemented however the most important component required for any sort of E-learning which was good internet connectivity was still missing.
Though #5G seems to be solving this issue of low latency of internet connection. Education sector would be one of the major beneficiaries of the country’s #5GTechnology rollout. Take, for example, a #universitycampus. Wireless network accessibility can be improved by expanding campus reach, and some universities have already begun to integrate this technology. 5G can also improve video conferencing quality, add haptic response capabilities, enhance immersive learning experiences with virtual reality (#VR) and augmented reality (#AR), and enable education personalization.
5G can help make learning interactive. Lessons that use augmented reality or virtual reality tools can make learning more immersive. AR/VR can improve student comprehension by bringing theoretical concepts to life. It can also be used to train teachers. Interactive lessons with lots of visual content can improve learning outcomes.
5G will have a transformative impact on school education in India, as it has in many other sectors. It can not only help bring reliable broadband access to millions of unconnected students, but it can also cause a sea change in teaching methods, resulting in positive learning outcomes.
Imagine a future where children can capture their learning experiences in different environments such as school, community centres, social volunteering, online gaming and caregiving and then these experiences are aggregated in a single place. The learner can then explore which learning approaches work best for them and, equally important, validate their skill attainment to others through different applications that suit the circumstances and context. This means greater learner confidence and learning efficiency.
Similarly, imagine a future where educators are able to trace the impact they have had on learners’ journeys. Educators can identify which teaching methods worked best for which learners and which approaches were most effective at enabling the learners to translate that learning into practice. This has the potential to support professional development and educator accountability.
Hence 5G will play a big role in leveraging the transformation in the education sector.

We went to the University of Nottingham @uniofnottingham for a Christmas Eve’s walk with the boys . We came across this silvery pine tree . It’s branches had picked up a bronze light from the sunlight. The sky was clear and the air very cold.
