Shang tsung isn't evil but a product of corruption and the environment that surrounds him. He's not evil in the sense of black n white thinking of morality. Especially from a western, psuedo Christian American perspective that so many people wanna shoehorn him into. (No shade here but im calling it like i see it nrs)
How is he evil when everyone in mortal kombat kills?
Also shao kahn quan chi and shinnok has arguably done worse
And even more so he's worked more with them, and under them(shao Kahn namely) and had no choice but to follow orders. Namely some things sure were aligned in benefit. But truly can you really argue that it was all his doing? No to say so is ignorant and undermining the other villains and antagonists of the series and their own contributions to the story narrative in opposition of protags and other characters.
The most evil is those who hide behind self righteousness and say they are for peace when they are being manipulated by promises of a better realm or timeline(cough fire god liu kang. COUGH)
Like nah guys mk12/mk1 don't make sense even for the narrative they are trying to pull. Shang is wonderful but yall missed the point even tho the storymode sucks and everything about it makes me nauseous, shang tsung shines thru because of what he represents. The story,It falls through the crack simply because of the fact
In mortal kombats chaotic and cruel world. You kill or be killed. You do what it takes to survive. Or be food for the gods. As you are nothing but entertainment for them.
Everyone kills in mortal kombat. So shang tsung killing means fucking nothing and is a moot point. He does it,everyone does it,how is he truly any different than anyone at that point. Thru mortal kombat,a supposedly Divine system,he's doing exactly what he's supposed to be doing. And what his character is designed to do. Period. So killing, moot point and argument.
Im not talking about. MK12/MK1 specifically. Tho that grinds my gears for many other reasons. Im talking shang tsung, overall as a whole as a character thru the 30+yrs the games and mk has been around. These are common arguments for that shang is "tHe EVil OnE" when there's no such thing in mks world. Truly. It's posturing and posing flowery words at that point. Period.
Stealing souls? He has to,to survive. He is cursed by the very gods and mentors that once swore to protect him. But did nothing.
Climbing for power? He does so because he wishes not to rule over. But so he doesn't have to worry about going to bed hungry,to suffer. He wants stability, comfort, and most of all security. A thing that long ago was robbed of him.
See you can't say shit about my man without having many reasons why he's not.
Could he be evil, nasty, and dowright fucking cruel? Oh you bet your ass he could. But does he enjoy it? Not really. He takes no pleasure unless it's out of necessity or you're considered an enemy.
He is no different than a hungry hunter. Trying to find his next meal or the next place of dwelling. Until he finds his true place of being and achieves a stable life.
Like ffs people it's right fucking there fine print and that still,STILL GOES OVER YOUR HEADS!
Like y'all who don't understand nuanced villains WANT him to be stereotypical,y'all want him to be easy to pinpoint. Because that means you dont get to critique your beloved "Heroic" characters. And use your brains, and critically think that maybe, just fucking maybe. Your nice dudes were wrong for once.
In mortal kombats world (if you can call it that because the world building sucks)
It's kill or be killed. Morality be damned. Shang tsung found that out long ago. Hiding behind morals in a world that could care less than about you. Gods that only see you as food, throw away entertainment, etc.
He may have respect for someone who despite all that crap, has some moral backbone. But isn't blind to the truth,it's survival. Dont be a pushover boot licking lapdog. As long as you don't hide behind your self righteousness and "goody goody" attitude. He'll respect that you have a noble heart. In fact, that may make him actually enjoy your company. But dont be a condescending jackass about your morals. And he'll be fine.
Shang tsung is just playing the game that the world is built upon. The rules, the gods, the empires, have made. And plays them well into his advantage.
And y'all pissed he plays it better than you. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
That my dears is a truly well done villain, antagonist, and just a beautifully complex character.
That's how you do or are supposed to do shang tsung. Period.
*slams hand down on table and leaves*

Gwaine does not seem to like magic much in the later seasons and happily hunts down sorcerers (dragoon, the guy from 5x05, finna) Thoughts on that?
I’ve answered similar questions before! Unfortunately, Tumblr’s search function doesn’t like me, or I’d link to my older analyses 😔
As early as 3x04 (Gwaine’s introductory episode!), Gwaine is implied to have some bias against magic. Not as severe as Arthur’s, but any bias can be dangerous. When Merlin goes to Gaius and Gwaine about the Stulorne blades, this is the reaction he gets:
Gwaine: I've seen those blades in action. They're forged using sorcery.
There’s quite a bit of emphasis on the word “sorcery” here, both in Gwaine’s speech and in the overall use/placement of it. The fact that the blades are forged using sorcery tells our protagonists why they’re capable of deceiving people’s eyes, but it does not in itself imply danger unless you see magic as a danger.
Later, in 3x08, Gwaine remarks on magic with a similar attitude:
Gwaine: Wyverns. Distant cousins of the dragon. They're creatures of magic, so be careful.
Again, Gwaine expresses their capacity for harm by bringing attention to their magical origins. But the worst is in 3x12, when Gwaine does nothing to stop Arthur from holding his sword against the throat of a child simply because he’s a Druid. Rather, Gwaine pulls his sword on the rest of the Druids when they come out to save the boy. It’s Merlin who has to tell Arthur to let him go. So, Gwaine not only sees magic as dangerous, but he believes that magic and innocence (not as in guilt, but as in youth and vulnerability) are mutually exclusive. He dangerously adultifies a kid who’s <10yo.
Thrice, in the introductory era of the character, pretty solidly confirms his perspective. However, Gwaine doesn’t seem to approach magic as an innate evil the way Arthur does. He more or less ignores Grettir, despite his flagrant use of magic to turn Gwaine’s sword into flowers. In season 5, he sees clearly that the Diamair is a creature of magic, but leaves with an understanding that he owes it his life.
Gwaine’s philosophy is openly stated in 3x04: “Nobility is defined by what you do, not by who you are.” If he’s to be true to this logic, then he has to accept that one’s actions/beliefs determine one’s character, rather than their birth circumstances. He has to apply this to magical people and creatures. And he seems to, in relation to Grettir and the Diamair.
Perhaps not so much to those he believe “chose” magic, for what he may assume is to the end of greed and power—some of the very traits he hates nobles for. However, there is only one instance to go off of, and it takes place in 5x05, where Gwaine’s like, 2 lines are the one that implies this, and the one telling someone to respect Arthur because he’s a king (even though Gwaine only respects Arthur despite that fact), so I’m inclined to ignore it.
As far as Dragoon goes, Gwaine seems to be under the impression that assassinating Uther would be evil, even though he has no motive for this. Uther had him banished and even threatened to cut his tongue out. I suppose he might just think that killing = evil, but considering how he’s employed to do just that—and it’s what he threatens Dragoon with—it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. Perhaps because he sees sorcerers as a danger, he doesn’t disapprove of the magic ban, and therefore finds Uther’s death to be unjust?
They never really offer an explanation. I think the safest bet is that Gwaine assumes this means that Dragoon would want Arthur—who still holds the ban on magic in place—dead also. “Dragoon” actually plays into this idea.
It would be the same reason for the Finna situation. Arthur has already decided that she’s a threat, and Gwaine is receiving this information through his word alone. Gwaine’s exact quote is: “There’s a dangerous sorcerer at large,” who he wants to protect Merlin from. (It would be a very different story if Gwaine knew that Merlin was her accomplice—or rather, she is Merlin’s accomplice, heehee.)
So, while Gwaine doesn’t “happily” hunt down sorcerers—seriously, more like—he does show a bias against magic, believing it to be dangerous. However, he is also shown to overlook this bias from time to time, and I think it’s safe to say that he would have been able to make a repeat for Merlin if it came to it.

This is the same group who believes Wanda is more evil than Thanos.
Okay, so related to the first comment: I bet what would make the people in the countries attacked by Stark's' weapons feel better is a bullet between his eyes. Hell, I suppose the people of Sokovia would also feel better if they could have dropped an entire city on Stark's head. Wanda included, even though she never got to express her hate or anger or revenge directly to him. These fans never wanted her to go that route, because Stark's victims were never humanized, he was never framed negatively nor was he turned into a villain in any movie (well, he was, in CW, but that's another story).
This is the same bullshit as always: unless the character who has committed a crime dies or is imprisoned (ideally tortured as well), these fans think they got away scot-free. Never mind the fact that Wanda's sacrifice included basically killing her entire freaking family in that Hex. That's not enough, they want blood. This is so culturally christian it's almost funny. "We want punishment!!"
And one last thing, what Monica did was show compassion. She wasn't justifying Wanda when she told her they would never know what she had sacrificed, she was being compassionate with her because understanding context of the crime =/= justifying the crime.
Related to the second comment: Yep, she did that. And she could have killed Hayward on the spot but didn't. Are we forgetting this is AFTER Wanda saw what he was doing with Vision's corpse? She had more than enough reason to hate him. Was she wrong in doing this? Of course she was! That's the whole point of the scene! That she's wrong! But that does not require making Hayward a good guy... because he never was.
And related to the third: Oh, I see they're treating Hayward as a good guy. How rich. Let's recap: this guy violated Vision's living will and dismantled him to turn him into a weapon so they could use him for their own purposes. Which was one of the dangers of the Sokovia Accords that they loved so much. This guy sent an armed drone into the city and almost shot kids. He then showed up inside the city and did in fact shoot kids. This is their good guy?
WV was too good for these guys.

I've been sooo back and forth on Summer willingly joining Salem tbh. I mean, given what Salem said to Ruby in v7 ("your mother said those words to me etc") it doesn't make a ton of sense? UNLESS Summer did go there to stop her but was defeated or tortured a bunch or Salem threatened her family, idk
Even with the v9 flashback there's still so much mystery to Summer that it could literally go either way. Raven give us answers I'm frothing at the mouth over here
i completely understand the feeling. there's definitely a bunch of arrows pointing at all kinds of directions, so what it really comes down to for me is figuring out 1. which ones are potential red herrings, and 2. would they spell out the answer before the big reveal?
it was the same with 'is this alyx?' i read a lot of theories about who might have been ascended alyx, and i could see the logic behind them all, if some more than the others... and then it turns out that alyx was just alyx, never ascending and becoming someone else.
that alone makes me lean towards the option that if summer is alive—which is looking likely, i don't think they would avoid saying she's dead for so long only for her to actually be dead—she's going to be recognizably herself. then there's also like. the way the writers do mysteries is less about drawing attention to things that need explanation and more about introducing something and leaving it to stew in the background while distracting the audience with something else.
and that gets me to the questions like 1. why does salem have two extra seats at the table? 2. who at beacon was she talking to via a seer, a method of communication we've only seen happen between two people? and 3. salem wants ruby brought to her alive (despite cinder wanting her dead, and tyrian thought she was sending him to kill her at first) and let's yang and her friends go (despite the grimm arms holding through hazel punching her!! it's one thing if the punch had caused them to disappear but that's not what happened!!) after yang identifies summer as her mom. why?
i think the biggest stumbling block people have over summer working for salem willingly is that they see it as summer being suddenly Evil™ when that's. not the point lol. i mean i wouldn't complain if it was, i love my evil ladies very much, but to me it's more about summer learning what salem's end goal actually is, making a choice for what she considers a better option, while also holding to her morals as much as she can: she has not partaken in any of the destruction directly, if she's commanding the grimm at beacon she's keeping them there instead of letting them spread to vale after the initial attack, and would have made a deal with salem that her family comes to no harm.
what you end up is a character with complexities, who has made difficult choices and stuck with them. sure, her lying and keeping secrets already covers some of that but also... it would be kind of boring if those are her biggest flaws narratively like c'mon, that's the whole cast right there, that's like the bare minimum lmao give me more to chew on.
i'm so ready for raven to gives us answers but i'm also fully prepared to spam the 'where's the rest of it' gif right after cos i bet she bailed right before summer's fate was sealed.

The Komi Report - Communications 437, 438, & 439
This week in Komi Can't Communicate:
Tumblr media
A familiar name...
Tumblr media
...a cryptic trial...
Tumblr media
...and a triple threat.
Read It: Mangareader Mangakakalot Viz Media (North America Exclusive) Mangadex (Dead, but there’s the backlog; and Spanish language updates)
There is so much going on this week.... much to interest us!!!
It is time for stage two of the university entrance process... and we meet someone new.
Tumblr media
Tadano??? 👀👀👀 A cousin? A coincidence? To me this is a fascinating plot twist. She's like boy-Tadano; she introduces herself as ordinary, and on the train she let's an old man have her seat. Everyone does that, sure, but it's very Tadano for it to be specifically shown to us. Who is this mysterious girl???
Tangent - Oda has said in an interview that Komi was originally going to be a boy, but his editor suggested making the character a girl instead (he doesn't elaborate on this). One doesn't imagine that Oda would have made the manga a yaoi (although that would have been awesome); so if Komi had been a boy, that would have made Tadano a girl. This is pertinent in that I am now imagining Maruko as boy-Tadano's alternate reality counterpart.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wonder if she's ever been to Cairns (Cairns is a popular Australian holiday destination for Japanese tourists. It's in the far north and has many attractions, making it a more affordable and accessible holiday spot than places such as Sydney. Fuck Sydney. No one likes Sydney.)
Tumblr media
I love her....... and her specialty is reading the room. hehehehehehe
Tumblr media
What do you think is the tastiest condiment for a friend egg? I don't eat fried eggs often because I don't like eggs enough to cook them for myself, so I'm not well-versed in appropriate egg condiments. Sometimes with these complex political topics you just have to say "sorry, I'm not well informed enough to have an opinion".
Tumblr media
The question of her connection to boy-Tadano is going to dominate my mind until it's answered.
Tumblr media
Egypt.... we don't get much of this girl, so all I can really say is that I like her look.
Tumblr media
I like how, before this point, Oda obfuscates that there are three of them.
In these earlier panels
Tumblr media
(text removed for ease of viewing) you can see that there are three of them, but one may not notice unless one is paying attention. A nice detail 👍. Also, freaky hive-mind triplets........... very cool!
Tumblr media
I bet their psychic triplet connection allows them to share what they taste and experience. Eating with three mouths at the same time... the possibilities.......
Tumblr media Tumblr media
King Khufu. I searched 'King Khufu' and think this funky ivory carving of him is cool
Tumblr media
Girl it's okay to ask follow-up questions asodnalsdknasd please ask what she means
Tumblr media
Komi is so offended by the idea of putting pepper on an egg that she shuns girl-Tadano cruelly 😓
Tumblr media
I have a sneaking suspicion that 'soy sauce and wasabi' got exactly three votes. This is blatantly unfair, as a hive-mind like this should only be counted as one person.
Tumblr media
AJBKJASWKJASJNAOJS I know the answer to this one - put me in charge. Give ol' Alice the reigns and I'll set everyone straight.
Tumblr media
I liked these triplets, but their idea for world peace is so stupid that I feel exactly how Komi did when girl-Tadano suggested putting pepper on an egg.
Tumblr media
overthrow capitalism and abolish the state!!!!!
Tumblr media
I'm back to liking the triplets. Their smug, controlling attitude is very evil and endearing.
Tumblr media
AOISHOAISJOIASJOLAM it's like her brain shut down earlier and only just booted back up. Everyone appears to have forgotten the question of world peace and focused entirely on Komi's egg opinions.
And that's it for this week!!! We are left with a cliffhanger; the group discussion was getting heated and then Komi came in with a total curve ball. I'm pleased to see more of Komi's university entrance process, and so far it's been fun! The new characters are interesting; especially girl-Tadano (for the reason of her name). The triplets are fun, and I'm not sure what to make of Egypt at the moment. I am most curious to see how it continues next week!
Until then, stay safe!! I'll see you soon.

At what point does a character become so evil that they're just irredeemable? Because I can ignore the Meursault arc by setting my story before it, remove Fyodor from some of the more catastrophic decisions made by the DOA and Guild, which at least bring him back down to some sort of relatability but... how can you redeem a man who manipulated a little girl into blowing herself up? Who put guns in the hands of children? It's so... evil. I can write Fyodor as a previously mostly good person, who took a horribly dark spiral into a delusional genocide mission. It's hard, but I can, so long as he doesn't succeed very far. Even killing Karma, while still an evil action, is questionable, debatable, to the reader. Because you can understand why Fyodor did it: he saw ending Karma's life as the only way to save him from a lifetime of torment and sin. And the reader can question how much they agree with that decision. And that's fine; I like that. But the little girl? It's the same principle, in theory: Fyodor could justify it to himself by saying that he wanted to save her from the sin surrounding her, to send her to God before she had the chance to sin. But that's where it breaks down. Because it becomes such a flimsy excuse, trying to mask such a massive evil.
Maybe I'd take out the kids with guns. That's too much, unless I'm missing something. Have the long walk through the tunnels with Atsushi and Kunikida be tense instead, them peering around every corner, ready for a harrowing fight. Kunikida's gun held tight, Atsushi tensed and ready to tiger out. Both peering through the darkness, only to reach a clearing in which stood a tiny little girl, hands clutched in front of her, scared, with some strange kind of necklace. And then in the next horrifying moment they realise: it's not a necklace, but grenades. Then the scene plays out from there. Not only would this be more impactful as a scene (in my opinion), it'd also characterise Fyodor in a different, much more interesting and nuanced way (in my opinion).
Because in that situation, it's only the little girl he's justifying to himself. And it's a bad justification, clearly paper-thin, but he believes it. And that makes the underlying horror and twist of Fyodor's character all the better--now that you've trimmed the fluff, that one point speaks so much more. You've emphasised that Fyodor's the type of person who's willing to manipulate a little girl into blowing herself up, but you've also shown that he put deliberate thought and care into that decision. It was to break Kunikida, but it was also to save her, to end her life before she fell into sin. And you would remember, because of how impactful the scene would be (whereas I'd bet a lot of people don't even remember Fyodor had gun children).
I think that's a problem the entirety of BSD (or maybe just manga in general) has. There's too much fluff action. It waters down the truly impactful scenes and breaks down the interest in characters like Fyodor. Because when he's killing very selectively, not only can you show how he rationalises those deaths for the sake of his plans and have that not be broken by continuity, but you get so much more out of those deaths. And if nothing else changed, and Fyodor was the only antagonist who didn't kill wantonly, imagine how different that would make him feel. His plans by their very nature would be new, interesting, contrasting. An antagonist who uses precise and measured deaths, just a pinpoint here, to achieve a much bigger effect on the characters than even the destruction of Yokohama by the Guild, would be something both new and far more terrifying.
And it would show how well Fyodor understood the ADA, that with just one death he could shake them so much--and how little they knew him in return would be very worrying. Imagine how much better his conversations with Dazai--the discussion of saving people would have so much meaning if Fyodor wasn't a hypocrite who killed people for no reason. If Dazai says that people are worth saving, and Fyodor agrees, even though they've entirely different meanings behind those words, and the meaning is actually there- imagine the subtext, the intrigue, the actual good writing that could come of that. God, I really wish it was so.

saw ur post about Danny from escape room and omg agreed I need more people to talk about him with he's so underrated
NO LIKE ACTUALLY THOUGH!!!!
I genuinely love him, he's so harmless and genuinely excited to be there, it's like textbook-first-death-you-care-about-to-get-you-invested, but I think it would be fascinating to see how the story would progress if he had lived longer. He doesn't get much of a chance to realize this isn't just a super fucking good escape room and I'd love to see how he'd react to another person's death, or the more morally-questionable puzzles.
Would he step up to the plate in a Zoe sort of way? I feel like theres even a possibility he'd cling to the concept of it just being a normal escape room for WAY longer than he should as a way to cope with all the fucked up shit happening.
Because if you think about it even his personal tragedy/survival event (while also being SO FUCKING SAD OHHH MY GOD??? how old was he??? was he a kid??? when did this happen?? if someone remembers if it's says how long ago HIS ENTIRE FAMILY DIED let me know) is incredibly passive.
He definitely saw his family post-death but unlike a plane crash or a mine cave or any of the other tragedies in he has never actually seen anyone else in the process of dying, and I think that would be SO interesting to explore.
Like is that why he likes escape rooms so much? Because it's a way to solve 'impossible' puzzles and clever-your-way out of problems in a way he never got a chance to because he was probably asleep when it happened?
(I also wish we got a slightly closer look at how Ben feels about his death. Because it's really no one but Minos' fault but if the blame had to be pointed to another player it's on him. And he's already got a complex about that shit. Danny is a significantly more sympathetic/guilt complex kind of murder than Jason.)
He's just SO interesting as a character, especially because his death is the only non-preventable one. Theres no way to out-think being dragged under ice in a freezing current. I know the whole game is about luck but it's entirely unfair in a way that I can't even imagine would be particularly entertaining for the people watching at home and I WANNA KNOW WHY! Was he always going to die first? Did they underestimate how good at escape rooms he was? Was it a shock value death to keep all the rich viewers who bet on the safest-winner invested? Was it just because he brought a phone when he wasn't supposed to?
Like (second movie spoilers) but especially with the Amanda reveal in the second movie I'm shocked more people aren't talking about the possibility that he's not actually dead at all!
Because why would Minos kill him? If they want to force people to make escape rooms for them wouldn't Danny be their first choice? He's smart, he loves escape rooms, it would be perfect!
The only real explanation is just that it has to do with personalities and who would be most likely to actually go along with them, but we don't know nearly enough about Danny to think that he wouldn't.
Like?? He kind of seems like the easiest of the first movies cast to manipulate in this situation!! He's the youngest, he's naive, and I don't think he's got the kind of Zoe-backbone that would rather die then spend his time building escape rooms which is what he's passionate about.
If I'm being entirely honest I am not going to believe anyone is dead unless we see the body.
Like, in the first movie who are the only two we don't see the actual body of?
Amanda and Danny.
Amanda is clearly a good person to have on your evil-escape-room-murder-game team as it's shown in the sequel, and like I said DANNY KAHN IS LITERALLY THE PERFECT PERSON TO HAVE ON YOUR TEAM. WHY WOULDN'T THEY KEEP HIM IN THEIR BACK POCKET?
((It also makes sense with the sequel, where we don't see a lot of the bodies. The ONLY person's body we actually see is Theo; Nathan falls into the sand, so does Ben, and we know how that worked out. We kind of hear Brianna and Rachel but we don't SEE them. And the might mean nothing, but if you think about it- it tracks, in a tournament of champions, best of the best, you'd want to hold on to as many as you can.))
I'm veryyyy interested to see if this comes up in the next one, I honestly do not think it will, but I definitely think it's a plot line that could be INCREDIBLY interesting to go down.

I think the funniest thing about a crossover with the original Ben 10 is every adult's reaction to meeting Ben. He's a literal ten year old who fights supervillains on a daily basis, often aided by his equally young cousin and grandpa. I'll be using TOA Trollhunters as an example cause its guaranteed to get a large reaction amongst the character cast.
We all know that Jim, Claire and Toby would already be concerned about a 10 year old child getting dragged into a lifestyle like this. Although Ben found the Omnitrix on accident while our Trollhunter was chosen by the Amulet of Daylight. Plus the ability to transform into 10 different aliens makes it easier to hide your identity. There are forces that want the watch so Ben was gonna get dragged in at some point anyway.
Back on topic, our teens worry wouldn't be as bad as Trollmarket. I imagine the concept of human teenagers is a bit skewed since a). trolls live in hiding away from mankind, b). they had their whelps stolen so no doubt little to absolutely no lingering experience on such age range left, c. already awkward with a good chunk of human terms. Although it probably wouldn't take long to realize a literal child is now fighting evil like Bular.
Hell, I think all the villains will try to capture Ben than kill him. Like: "Whose this sassy child? He should be under proper supervision despite his skills and capabilities. This human whelp would become an powerful asset once he takes the time to truly realize his potential." I especially see this behavior from the Janus Order as in a way, our young hero can be considered the 'ultimate changeling'.
He can transform without a familiar plus his alien forms are the real deal since he can use their powers until the timer run outs. Plus if you consider the treatment changelings are stuck dealing with daily, this is something that could definitely give them the chance at a very long overdue payback. (Ben would definitely cause a massive changeling revolution.) Meanwhile Ben probably be half confused and maybe half insulted cause every villain where he's from will just kill him instead.
If they put him in Trollmarket under 'house arrest', you can bet he'll try to escape unless they put a magic anklet monitor to keep him from leaving like in PAW_07's fic Withhold. Also just imagine their reactions when Ben transforms into a troll using the watch. Poor guy is gonna get babied on immediately, as again, troll whelps are rare and invaluable.
It'll definitely be a very interesting experience though.

would welcome any more tickle headcanons you’ve got about ted from ted lasso 🤭😁😁😁
Tumblr media
here we go-go, mu-cha-cho!
Lee!Ted
Because of Ted's people-pleasing mentality, we all know he wants everyone around him as happy as possible at all times.
That means he can totally ler it up, but because I am so deeply in love with Jason Sudeikis and Ted Lasso equally.... I can't not let my cute man be on the receiving end of some tickles.
I can see Ted being all 'awwwhawhaw! you got me!' after he's jogged around with someone chasing him, letting them get close enough to actually get him, obv.
Ted isn't quite sure how to handle getting tickled for real, honestly.
He's been jostled and huddled and hugged so much in his life, what with his duties as a coach and having a close team around him at all times. And it always makes him smile and chuckle.
But getting tickled definitely takes some getting used to for him. And like anything new for Ted (minus the start of therapy, I suppose), he welcomes the experience with open arms and a willingness to try it out.
He's really jumpy at the start of it, when someone would give him pokes/jabs/quick wiggling fingers somewhere sensitive. But it always illicits a giggle.
I imagine Ted being really open to letting Rebecca try this out on him, what with the amazing close friendship they've developed.
And she's so teasy and so delicate with him that it drives him NUTS.
Literally Ted can melt into a puddle of whines and wheezes and giggles with ler!Rebecca coming after him.
He's a big safe word guy, even if it's literally 30 seconds of casual, playful tickling. Similar to the 'Oklahoma' safe word used in the show, I'm sure this one would be another state or perhaps a town in England to even up the playing field. Or honestly something utterly silly like a player's name (Bumbercatch! Tartt!).
Rebecca cracks up when her and Ted have gotten to the point where he'll just start yelling random words through his laughter to get her to ease up. And she always does. He chooses a new word every time a tickle attack happens and just repeats it over and over again. Rebecca knows all of Ted's signs by now so she knows when not to overstep.
Ted slowly finds some comfort in getting tickled. It sends shivers up his spine when he gets the itch for it, or when he knows it's heading his way.
Ler!Ted
Ted definitely has an easier time falling into the ler role.
He loves when he sees tickling used as a form of bonding between the players. It doesn't fluster him unless the tickling's aimed his way (sorry sorry I'll stop with lee!ted 😉).
He's playful and loving as all hell with his son so of course he's thrown tickles in there when Henry was younger.
Getting out of the in-character canonness of the show, and moving to the general xoc or xreader side of tickling, I have a few thoughts...
If Ted finds out you're ticklish, it'll be like you'd given him his Christmas gift early.
But he'll take things slow, again, not having tickling being a recurring part of his own personal life.
His first step would be to get more cuddly with you, more than he's ever been before. Like a warm up to prepare for what's coming.
He'll pepper in ticklish kisses in sensitive spots like the neck, collarbones, the inside of the wrist/palm of hand, on/behind the ear.
And from there depending on the mood he finds himself in, he'd either deliver the most loving ticklish gestures and kisses OR he'd be evil-ler-dad-mode and attack with tickles.
You bet your ass Ted uses his bristly mustache to his advantage and your demise. That poor belly...
Like Rebecca does with him, Ted absolutely respects any boundaries when it comes to tickling.
But he'll be a teaser while it's happening, of course. Saying his typical funny, naive, simple Ted things. I am clearly not up to par with the Ted Lasso writing staff, so I cannot come up with much of anything good he'd be saying. But you get the idea.
"Ooohwee I didn't know this was such a good spot!" "You've been holding out on me." "Geez! With all that kicking you're doing, I could put you to good use at Richmond!" "Who knew tickling someone could be so damn fun?"
Happy Ted makes brain go brrrr!

Random thoughts after finishing the first Promised Neverland manga
Please don't spoil anything on here I'm specifically avoiding online stuff about it for a reason
Emma's a great main character, she's easily lovable and I can generally see where her arc is gonna go (at least her personal one)
I really like how Emma and Ray are already seeming to be foils to one another; Emma's main strengths being her physical abilities vs Ray his mental ones, Emma's optimism and idealism vs Ray's practicality and pessimism, the fact they both seem to care about the others in the orphanage (Ray only says they can't all make it so they should take the ones who can, which means he does want to help those he can, he just thinks they can't help everybody). They balance each other out well
I'm betting Norman is being set up to be either a demon or involved with them somehow. Out of all of the trio he acts the least like a kid (both Emma and Ray have their moments), when he figures out Isabella's strategy he seems more upset that she beat them than that they're in danger should she find them out, he explicitly only wants to help the other kids to keep Emma happy (and lowkey only seems to care about her and Ray - or maybe I'm just reading that wrong), and, atm, is kinda the heart of the trio in that both Emma and Ray like and trust him (as opposed to each other). I don't think he'll necessarily be evil but there's something off about him
I wonder if Emma's ability to read people is going to be developed further. If Norman's the strategic and Ray's the walking library, it makes sense of Emma's character she'd take the role of knowledgeable about people (which they really need). Like, she's already read Isabella's body language to understand her intentions once, it would be cool if that developed.
Is Ray Japanese? I'm pretty sure both Emma and Norman are intended to be white, but maybe it's just bc Ray has a much more typical 'anime boy' haircut than either of them, but I think he could be Japanese
Okay so: the kids who get perfect scores on the tests are recruited by the demons to help continue the farms? That's what it seemed like given both Isabella and Krone have numbers on their necks and Isabella directly states this to Krone. The Mother position seems to be in high regard as well - so is it just for the glory and authority Krone wants it, or do you get like, physical benefits as well?
Speaking of that - it seems like only the girls who get perfect scores can go into the 'mother role', because Emma mentions only the older girls are tasked with helping Isabella with the babies and young kids. So what happens to the boys?
Also, if kids who get perfect scores become minions of the demons, why do the demons mention harvesting 'the three who got perfect scores' then? By 'harvest' do they just mean sending them away from the orphanage?
So Isabella's watch doesn't tell her who is where, so the trackers are indiscriminate
Couldn't they solve the issue of the trackers by just... stealing Isabella's watch? Norman can pick locks, Ray has shown himself to be very sneaky (Norman and Emma not knowing he was there for a while until he spoke), and Emma's the fastest kid in the orphanage, between the three of them they could probably pull it off. Unless Krone has one too, which would suck
Question: why bother lying to the kids to begin with?? Like if they're raised to believe they'll get good lives outside, they'll naturally be terrified when it turns out they're gonna be turned into meat. But like, if that's all they never know, if that's what they're raised with the expectation of, I think significantly fewer would even see it as an issue.
Tbh, I feel like the 'why was Isabella kind to them' question is pretty easy: to get them to trust her, and because like, why not? The kids will die regardless, so why be cruel to them in the short time they have left? And if she's kind to them, they'll trust her enough to not question anything she says, like not to go near the gates or outside and about the foster families, even though none of the kids who were 'fostered' have ever written back.

the 2.0 in battle fight 2.0, explaiined. blade spoilers, kabuto spoilers, godspeed love spoilers/kabuto movie spoilers, den-o spoilers, and ooo spoilers (just in case) below please be warned
listen. i love blade, don't get me wrong. i've watched the 12 minute blade meme video more times than i care to count. that said, the battle fight in blade was really sloppily executed. who are the card monsters and why are they killing people? what are the risks and rewards of fighting the card monsters as a kamen rider? both of these questions don't get answered early on and the answers to these as they're revealed genuinely feel pulled out of the screenwriter's ass. (i'm not salty about the remote not working after all 4 suits have been sealed)
battle fight, was, at its core, a battle royale between standard suit deck of monsters. the winner got their wish granted by the shitty fuckin' mobius rock (fuck the mobius rock!) but that was only explained to us more than halfway through the show. the 2.0 appended to it implies an upgrade in every way. sure, we see that it's a dangerous, deadly battle royale from episode 1, where the winner gets a wish granted, but instead of becoming disinterested due to knowing all that already, mr takahashi builds the suspense by having us follow tanuki guy as he learns about the battle royale from scratch.
blade began knowing a bit about the monsters and why it was important to fight them, but i think the world ending shit was only thrown in during the early 40s episodes. however, we don't see a lot of memory-wiping stuff in blade unless it's like.... i guess hirose's dead dad's nice evil clone or something???? snyways, instead of relying on blade's vague outlines, geats does a nice job of blending some intriguing conceits and concepts from a few other kamen rider seasons.
first, the fact that contestants can get to the battle royale from anywhere in the city using their driver. this is a conceit that was used a lot in den-o, to both comedic and somber effects. geats takes this and amplifies this, with the phone calls to loved ones from the empty echoey hallway outside the battle royale lounge. (i bet that hall echoes wih the ghosts of dead riders past but we'll leave that for the fanfics, shall we?) it takes the contrast between isolation (the contestants aren't allowed to tell non-contestants about the battle royale) and connection (the phone calls as attempts to connect with the outside world) builds tension quite deliciously.
second, the fact that the focus character is a "weak, average guy" was something airlifted directly from shoji yonemura's kamen rider kabuto. the parallels between kitsune and tanuki, to tendou souji and kagami arata are almost palpable. there's even a grandma quote copypasted into the dialogue of episode 2. from the perspective of the "weak, average guy" we as an audience have the advantage of seeing the titular protagonist's brusque and rude side as well as getting to see his cool and kind side. the fact that the tanuki guy chose to sacrifice to let kitsune get the victory for the sake of humanity is parallel to a certain movie (hello godspeed love). the fact that we get to see the kitsune secretly stick up for tanuki guy to purple asshole in the card fight mission during round/wave 2 is parallel to the tendou souji who joined zect just to secretly help kagami stalk that doctor guy who got impersonated by a bunch of worms. howevery, geats makes this better by possibly swapping out the supporting cast each new wave/world. i can't wait to see who the next supporting cast will be!
third, straight from my heart and soul, the power behind the battle royale contestants' strengths to fight is desire. if you've seen kamen rider ooo you know the drill. however, instead of leaving the wish up to chance if they win, like in the blade's battle fight, geats forces the contestants to confront their desires beforehand. kinda like the imagin from den-o and the greeed from ooo, the characters must all make a wish, before confronting their own mortality and gambling their lives towards something they've always wanted. now, i have no doubt hino eiji would be a monster in this colisseum, but let's save that for the fanfiction as well. during the ensuing fights and power struggles, the contestants are once again reminded of their reasons for fighting, and that guides their decisions into the battle royale we see today. it's also lightly implied that the battle royale is powered by the strengths of the contestants' desires, but let's save that conversation for once again when i have more evidence to back it up.
anyways, battle fight two point oh is better in almost every way than blade's battle fights (which there were also two of, but i use point oh to disambiguate between blade's and geats's). i lobe blade but it was like watching a train wreck i just can't look away. geats is something else. i haven't yet figured out what metaphor defines it yet. but i'm thinking about it.

Your version of Robbie is amazing! The dynamic between him and Henrik is incredible!
What does Robbie think of the others? —😈
Hey, thanks! :D I'm always happy if people preesh the stupid things I make! Normally zombies are depicted as hunger-driven brainless monsters, so I thought it was a fun idea to make him a genius-like creature and Doc's assistant/co-worker...Fictional mad scientists are fun. What he thinks about the others, you say? I assume you are talking about all the other egos... Well, let's destroy some hopes and dreams here... Usually this specific character is considered very child-like. Very sweet. Well, in the Fishverse, everyone is sketchy/evil/partially insane besides few rare exceptions. You can bet that ESPECIALLY Robbie is not a nice dude, here. He's like to have an enemy right at home. He cares not for humans and the living. Like...at all. Robbie sees humans as lesser, expendable creatures. Or like cattle, lab rats and walking spare-parts, if you will. He sticks around the Doc and considers him something close to a friend, only because he respects him in his own insanity. (And mostly coz he owes him. Also Henrik is a free access to labs, bodies, tools and interesting stuff to research, which is a plus.) So, in a nutshell: Doc: He's ok to stick around to and sometimes bodyguard if necessary. Mostly coz both him and Robbie love to experiment in/with weird stuff and all the things mentioned above. Birds of feathers and all that stuff... Chase: He couldn't care less for this guy. Dead or alive...It doesn't matter. He doesn't care. Robbie considers his existence only coz he's harmless and he happens to be Doc's best friend. He wouldn't mind to use his limbs as spare parts, but Doc is against this idea. Jackie: Now, he's alive ONLY coz he's Doc's friend. Robbie HATES this guy and would gladly love to dissect him if given the chance to do so.. Jackie is the dumb embodyment of everything Robbie despise. But since -again- Doc would rather keep his few friends alive, he cannot go suddently "missing". Robbie's favourite hobbie is to belittle everythig this guy does, in the hope he will one day explode or something. Give him an excuse! Marvin: Robbie saw this guy only on TV pretty much. Perhaps while he was fighting against the dumb hero. Interesting the fact he can use "magic" and alchemic stuff (this implies he -unlike the hero- does infact has a functioning brain, at least...) and he would be perhaps a nice study subject, but nothing Robbie cannot learn by himself by reading the right books and by making the right researches. Science it's kinda like magic or whatever, after all... To him, Marvin is yet another annoying flamboyant roof-clown with weird clothes, privileges and tastes. Never interact unless forced to. JJ: Robbie never met him before, nor he's aware of his existence, really... If the two were goin to meet, Robbie would consider him nothing more than a generic human. Not worthy of his time, unless he's hiding some experiments-worthy ability... Anti: Now, this is interesting. This creature is not human and it can do peculiar things. Robbie would LOVE to vivisect this thing if it was possible to restrain it somehow. Possessing people from the distance and manipulate reality, sound like interesting stuff to study, is it not? Robbie is a man of science. He would totally open this guy up if it was possible to do so. Fin. That was my essay. It may contain horrible grammar and such. BUT HEY, I TRIED. I hope u preesh it. X'D

Chapter 16- Part 14
Okay, now we chase Borealis. I SAID GET BACK HERE, MISTER!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Street Rat moment? Oh, wait- is this gonna be the Street Rat from Obsidia Slums? The one Corey was talking with? Is that how Borealis’ identity is going to be revealed?
…I mean, c’mon. Come on, I think we all know who Borealis is by now, right? His outfit is in broad daylight now, you can see the gray and purple! They’re not even trying to hide it anymore!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
OH, SHOOT! It’s the officers we rescued! So that sidequest had even more payoff, that’s awesome! Gosh, this scene woulda been more awkward if I hadn’t found everyone, I’ll bet…unless it didn’t make a difference.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nevermind, it completely made a difference! Haha! Hah…wow, really, what would have happened if we hadn’t found all the officers…?
But also- which Gym Leader? Florinia? She was also looking into Borealis alongside Amaria, wasn’t she?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh, it was just Amaria- okay, interesting! And smart, good on her!
Tumblr media
Oh my gosh, this is literally a Scooby-Doo moment, I cannot believe this-
Tumblr media
OH, I CANNOT BELIEVE MY EYES! WHO COULD HAVE POSSIBLY GUESSED!!?
…Over-the-top dramatics aside, even though I guessed this plot twist a while ago, I guess a part of me was still hoping it was just some red herring and Corey wasn’t secretly a Meteor all along. Because I kinda like Corey! He was one of the only characters to actually acknowledge how Xera literally almost died at the start of the game! He showed some sorta respect for her in the beginning!
Tumblr media
There was something endearing about how he seemed to care about his job despite how morose he is! I didn’t want him to turn out to be a double agent, even if I thought he was shaped like a villain when I first saw him!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean, he’s got a point about that, evil Gym Leaders aren’t exactly new- just look at Giovanni and Team Rocket. At least I trusted him for his mannerisms and personality before I found out he was a former Gym Leader. Was that callow, too?? :'(
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Do they have judges in the Pokémon world? I don’t remember seeing anything else of the justice system besides police officers, I’ve never even seen a single courthouse!

(Preface: this rant is motivated by a reddit post I got annoyed by lol)
Heaven forbid a character aligned with the Liberation has nuance and exists in a gray moral area, I guess having ruthlessness as a personality trait makes you as bad as tyrants (unless of course you choose a certain ambition ending then you can do no wrong in reddit's eyes 🙄)
Oh you're "revolutionary?" You're not allowed to make a choice motivated more by emotion than rational thinking ever again. And don't even think about being a complex character and making misguided choices sometimes because it proves the Cause is actually evil.
If the game had a black and white morality system where everyone made clear-cut right and wrong choices, it wouldn't be nearly as interesting, and it would lack one of the core tenets of the horror genre
Idk like, if you think the Masters have sympathetic qualities even tho they've done so much bad, you can extend the same grace to rev characters.
This is a calendar council apologism blog, especially the winter months
Evolution spoilers under the cut
This was sparked by an interpretation of December on the Reddit that I did not care for lmao. classic reddit tbh
Do I love the Naturalist and want him to be ok and think it's an odd move that a chain breaker would want to force a character into a role they don't want? Yes. I'm not saying I agree with the logic if it is in fact the case (still betting that there's more to the situation than meets the eye). But I also acknowledge that the lore universe exists in a setting where there is absolutely no "everyone wins" scenario. The thesis of the game is that people make bad choices while motivated by love. No entity on any echelon of the chain is above that. I say it often but: It's all a tragedy? Always has been
(And I can still be Doyleist and squint at writer choices lol. I tend to be wary of how the revs are handled given the game's history)
Also it lowkey gets to me as someone who plays a ruthless, morally gray (and liberationist) character. He's done things he isn't proud of (things that would get him labeled a villain if he was a character in a big fandom lmao rip), but ultimately he tries to fight for a better future. He'd make an awful choice in a heartbeat if it would save someone he loved, and that just makes him human. He finds it very hard to judge
