Snakes on a post
Another particularly long answer dump since i, once again, have a backlog of things to potentially answer |D
❗️For commonly asked qs please see my BTD FAQ
Tumblr media
Got jumpscared with my own old art for a hot minute there LAUGHS.
Tumblr media
(For those wondering, the naga doodle from here was attached to the ask)
Tumblr media
That is every other Royal that exists in the Nether and also at least some of the demons that challenged him for his Royal title lol.
Tumblr media
Believe me, no one was or is more surprised then me XD;
Tumblr media
So, the thing about where Rire's ichor manifests is that it kinda exists and doesn't exist at the same time. Meaning that his upper back is where the manifestation point is anchored, BUT it can still manifest with a bit of space in between it and his back hence why it will manifest over his clothes and not through them.
So if you touch where the manifestation point is sans the ichor, than you are just straight up touching his back. With the ichor, he still gets sensory input from the tentacles to his back but it's a lot more soft and muted esp the further away it gets from him. As you've seen implied though, he would feel a very sharp pain if a great deal of damage was done to the ichor where it clusters at the manifestation point, since he'd DEF be feeling that straight in his back lol.
Tumblr media
He is definitely a top and the only way he would bottom for anybody is if they somehow forced him to.
Tumblr media
Ah i knew i'd answered this a long time ago [finally found it]! Holy crosses (those that have been blessed) can also burn him but they would need to be in contact with him the entire time. Being a Royal he also has more of a tolerance to these than normal demons.
Tumblr media
Well, unless said person actually has the undeniable ability to make good on their words, Rire would just stand there rather genially with that little smile he sometimes has and let them finish.
And then he might use them as reverse suggestions for dealing with said person (why would you give him any ideas!!?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
both
Tumblr media
In BTD canon it is quite possible that they actually haven't in person. But we are using creative license here haha.
Tumblr media
Rire heals a lot faster than a human. Cain is not my character so I don't know how his stacks up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've grouped these asks cos they kind of have similar answers - 360° (jk sorry sorry to the second q that is just a very common spelling mistake and I couldn't resist XD; )
Now, even though we mashed all the characs together in BTD, they all actually come from different storylines and so their canons outside the "BTD canon" may differ. This tends to bleed in. With this in mind:
The rules of Rire's canon (eg the concept of Battle Royales and how to become a Royal) don't apply to Cain. Anyway, they don't live in the same place either.
Cain is canonically the oldest and most OP character in BTD lol so yes he is stronger than Rire - you might've noticed, but Rire is never in the same drawing as Cain voluntarily. I play with this along with the "natural weakness" aspect - which I've also referred to as scissors-paper-rock rules XD Basically; demons beat humans, angels beat demons (purely because demons have weakness against holiness).
Tumblr media
It would (be insane) but I hope you are not looking at me to fulfil this :d
Tumblr media
Not really
Tumblr media
His coronation day is a public holiday in his sector so yes XD
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aww thank you very much for your interest! ≧(´▽`)≦ It's really cool that some of you guys want to actually fund such a thing - I'd have thought you'd have enough of him killing you in BTD1 XD Unfortunately, I have no plans for a Rire game at the moment as I'm working on a webcomic which looks like it will take up all my free time (that being said, he will be in the webcomic at some point).
Tumblr media
Nope! Although i can kinda see why you might think that lol.
Tumblr media
Whatever that one is where he doesn't particularly care what someone else identifies as. It really makes no difference to him or how he will act.
Tumblr media
There are viruses in the Nether that if contracted could potentially kill you, yes. Part of being a Royal is becoming a lot more robust than normal Demons though. As for if/when Rire dies, I dunno maybe either in a Battle Royale somewhere thousands of years down the line or by old age (which is rare for a Royal but not impossible if you play your cards right).
Tumblr media
If you are asking if he has a heat/rut of some sort, he does not |D

lie with you [or, how riize comforts you when you're crying bc of a nightmare]
Tumblr media
pairing : ot7 x reader! genre : implied hurt n subsequent comfort cw/tw : hugging + kisses + food mention + possibly swearing? wc : idk ,,
Tumblr media
shotaro ,. ! - im a firm believer of taro heavy sleeper agenda - bro will be out like a log, no fire alarm is waking him up anytime soon D: - but! when you wake up because of the nightmare and end up moving a bit away from him as you process it - he knows. - he just somehow subconsciously knows that there's distance between you and just reaches out for your warmth and traps you in a big hug – all while he's snoring softly (in the CUTEST way ever) - ends up comforting you without even being conscious he's just skilled tm like that yk??
eunseok ,. ! - light sleeper!!!!! his happy burritos and cream pasta dreams stop the literal second he hears the slightest whimper out of you - mentally goes "who tf hurt my darling s/o." - when he finds out it's you crying bc of a nightmare i'm sorry but he might tease you (later ofc, when you've had enough time to heal from it bbg dw) - but rn he offers distractions in the form of bingeing cutesy animes (imagine you watch horimiya's toffee scene w him or any other anime romance cliche and he goes would u like me to do that to you. i'd pass awa y)
sungchan ,. ! - you may have to wake him up depending on how tired he is :/ - but as soon as he finds out, wraps you up in the comfiest + warmest clothes he can find and throws you over his shoulder like a potato sack/holds you in a princess carry -> depends entirely on which you prefer he can do both 💪 - takes you straight to his car (we're js gonna pretend he can drive for the sake of the hc my extensive research i.e. 15 mins on reddit led me nowhere ;-;) it's time for a midnight drive! - puts on you guys' shared playlist and takes you to a grocery store snack run followed by going to an open-ish place so you can watch the stars tgt :(
wonbin ,. ! - i think his waking up abilities are honed purely due to being w you (yk like what if you need him to hug you at like 3 am. and he's too busy passed out (dreaming of you) then what.) - feels you trembling and is lowkey upset that you didn't wake him up when you needed him :( - he gets that you might not want to face him tho, so simply presses his chest against your back and places soft kisses on your neck. probably drops in a couple "'m here for you love" "it'll be okay" "i love you so so much yk that right?" he's versatile w his sweet nothings like that :( <3
seunghan ,. ! - this guy scares me ngl /j - he probably knows you're having a nightmare before you know you're having a nightmare - wakes you up by shaking you gently, comforts you with many many many hugs as you're waking up - kisses your tears away .. (i'm so weak for him) - lays your head down on his lap and lets you vent to him just listening to you, dude's gentle presence alone is enough to calm you down - BUT ALSO. imagining him drawing you a warm bath and you ending up coercing him into wearing cutesy animal face masks w you :(((
sohee ,. ! - guy who must be facing his s/o while sleeping !! gets to know and wakes up immediately when you start crying - clings to you like a koala that's it that's the hc. has his head buried in your neck, hands tied so so tightly around your waist which greatly help to ground you - also probably cracks a couple of really cringey jokes something along the lines of "i'll be your silver knight, my princess" but says it w the softest, sweetest expression and in the sincerest, honey-like tone that you can't help but melting completely :( - when he feels you've calmed down enough prob also initiates a tickle fight sorry i don't make the rules acc to him you need to laugh after a bout of crying okay??
anton ,. ! - guy who must be facing his s/o while sleeping (2) except his ass is not waking up unless you physically shake him awake - you'd probably do that though bc what better way to comfort you from a nightmare than your half-asleep bf's soothing voice? - bro is probably so out of it that he just very eloquently goes "wh huh wha" or something of that sort - when he's coherent enough (not really) he would sort of kind of roll up on top of you forgetting his 6'1 stature - but on the positive side his weight over you is a lot like a really comfy blanket (that can kiss your forehead w the utmost gentleness) - if you ask nicely he'll even sing you a lil lullaby to help you get back to sleep <3

Just a question. I want to make a fic about the first Jedi and his disciples before Disney gets the drop on me. I'm only familar with disney canon. What miracles are associated with the buddha and the bodhissatva and what way can I characterize the philosophy of the force in buddhist terms?
The basic idea was that the first Jedi is basically a wandering Gautama Buddha and his disciples were basically the Eight Bodhisattva. Manjushri is known for his kindness and wisdom. Guanyin is kind and compassionate. Vajrapani is strength and protection incarnate. Maitreya is prophesized to bring balance to the force. Ksitigarbha swore to save everyone in the galaxy no matter how evil and no matter what it costs her and I don't really know much about the rest. Might even toss some characters like Sun Wukong and other buddhist associated characters.
The intent is to make the first jedi a real larger than life figure. God's amongst mortals who would make any other force user look like a joke. Yet also make them suprisingly human in that the first jedi just wants to help people and comfort them and doesn't want to use such powers in the first place for violence.
I also want to play around with the first sith and portray them as Eldritch abominations and monsters who feed of the weak and oppressed. Maybe they would be the Mara analogue in this telling.
Oh, this is intriguing! I love this concept!
Buddhism and Miracles
The Buddhist view on miracles, wonders, magic, superhuman powers is a quite complex one. There is a threefold distinction of Buddhism: the Buddhist science of the mind, Buddhist philosophy and Buddhist religion. The miracles of Gautama Buddha are belonging to the realm of Buddhist religion: it is proposed that through mental training one can achieve miraculous powers, as the basis of "miracles" is perfect control over one's own mind, like goldsmiths making the gold pure and workable, so they can use it to create wonderous things. The Buddha was reportedly manifested the ability to walk on water, to read other people's minds, to fly through air, to heal the wounded with his will, or growing a tree full of flowers and jewels out of his toothpick, calming down a raging elephant that attacked the village he visited, and so on. However, such miracles are all subordinate to the one true, genuinely miraculous power that one must strive for: the ability to guide people according to their mental development, for their own good, using suitable methods to fit these people.
Tumblr media
It must be noted that in Buddhist mythology, miraculous powers are regarded as potential off-shoots of practice. Through mental training, one can develop the capacity to concentrate the power of the mind. But it's crucial to understand that in Buddhist thought, these abilities aren't dependent on the cultivation of wisdom and compassion: in stories, it's not just possible, but actually quite common for someone to gain such powers without any significant, or even meaningful spiritual and psychological progress. For this reason, the Buddhist view on these miraculous powers - should they exist at all - is that if you have them, that's a sign that you're making progress, but you mustn't brag about or reveal them, unless it's absolutely necessary. And unless you're fully awakened, these supernormal powers have a way of engendering supernormal defilements. The Buddha, like most most spiritual or religious teachers of the East, warned against those individuals who display miracles to attract people to their traditions, because there is a good chance that they're tricksters led by greed, or that their holiness is on shaky grounds.
The wholesome and unwholesome use of miracles
There is a story about the fifteen days of the miracles demonstrated by the Buddha, all performed in response to the relentless claims of six ascetics who claimed, the teachings of the Buddha are invalid, as they possess mystic powers far grater than him. The Buddha outdid every single miracles the ascetics were able to produce. Since such display of special powers was done in order to arouse or strengthen faith - which is, in Buddhism, refers to trust or confidence in the Buddha's path of practice and one's own potential for enlightenment - the performance of the fifteen miracles was a wholesome act. And likewise, there's the story of Khema: she was a young, extraordinarily beautiful queen, who was clinging on physical beauty. When she met the Buddha, he was able to read her mind, and he manifested a time-lapse of a young and even more beautiful woman, aging it to middle age, old age, very old age, then to dust. As a result, Khema realized the true, impermanent nature of the object of her attachment. This is another example for the wholesome use of miracles.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Star Wars, this can be likened to Master Yoda using the Force in Episode V to rise Luke Skywalker's x-wing out of the swamp: this "miracle" was demonstrated to arouse trust and confidence in Jedi teachings and in his apprentice's own potential to become a Jedi. You can see that Jedi Knights are demonstrating their abilities only "for knowledge and defense" as Yoda said.
When it comes to unwholesome uses of miracles, we have the story of Pindola Bharadwaja, who was one of the Buddha's first disciples. It's said that one day, a wealthy merchant, who didn't believe in the existence of the extraordinary powers of holy men, challenged them: he suspended a beautiful and expensive sandalwood alms bowl from the top of a really high bamboo pole, and said, the master who can get it down, can keep it. Pindola Bharadwaja, who progressed very fast in his mental training, and attained several miraculous powers as a result, stepped forward. He rose into the air easily and took the bowl. The people were in awe, but their excitement alerted the Buddha who arrived to the scene. He broke the bowl into pieces and said, he is very displeased by the public display of such miracles, likening it to prostitution that is done for the sake of cheap delights.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's because this miracle wasn't performed to benefit others, it didn't arouse trust or confidence in the Buddhist path and in one's own potential for enlightenment. It was done to impress and to show off, thus, it was distasteful. In Star Wars, this can be compared to Anakin Skywalker using the Force in Episode II to fly a fruit through air in order to impress Padmé - he even admits, "If Master Obi-Wan caught me doing this, he'd be very grumpy."
Bodhisattvas
Bodhisattva can mean anyone who vows to become enlightened in order to relieve the suffering of all beings, but there are also celestial Bodhisattvas, who are realized beings, inspired by the wish to attain complete enlightenment, and have vowed to be reborn in the world to help all living beings. They're deity-like beings, however, it should be noted that these Bodhisattvas are representing our potentials.
Tumblr media
Guanyin - or Avalokitesvara or Chenrezig - is enlightened compassion, Vajrapani is the powerful energy of enlightenment that can be utilized to do many good things, Manjushri is the enlightened wisdom. I think the most important ability that these Bodhisattvas are said to possess, is that they're able manifest themselves in hundreds or even thousands of bodies simultaneously.
In this essay of mine, I examined Jedi teachings and how the Force works - these are, on the fundamental level, identical to Buddhist philosophy. I hope it will help:
Māra and the Dark Side of the Force
In Buddhism, although Māra is depicted as a god or demon, he is an aspect of the mind and the heart: the inner experience of all forms of attachment, greed, hatred, and delusion, everything that interferes with and puts to an end our spiritual practice. His "armies" are sensual desire, discontent, hunger and thirst, craving, laziness, fear, indecisive wavering (doubt), restlessness, longing for the transitory things in life (gain, praise, honor, and fame), and praising oneself and belittling others. His three "daughters" are thirst, delight and desire.
Tumblr media
When Māra is discussed as an external being, he is said to reside in the highest heavenly realms of cyclic existence, thus, he enjoys long life, power, privileges and pleasures. But it must be noted that he is, like any other being, subjected to Karma, birth and death, and there are stories that gave a closure to him as an external entity: he ends up being a Buddhist himself. So, if you wish to draw an analogy with Māra in a complex and intriguing story you draw up, I suggest to use the Son as his Star Wars counterpart. He embodies the dark side of the Force, but he is also the mosaic of the light side and the dark side just like all living beings in George Lucas' Star Wars universe.
Tumblr media
The story of Devadatta as a potential inspiration
If you would like to use Buddhist stories as inspiration for the Sith, I recommend you the story of Devadatta, the Buddha's enemy. In the Theravada tradition, Devadatta, who was one of the disciples of the Buddha, attained several miraculous powers through mental training, but no wisdom and compassion. His miracles convinced a crown prince, Ajatasattu, that he is a great teacher. But Devadatta became obsessed with his own skills and sought fame and power, declaring, he should be the one who leads the Order of Buddhists and not the Buddha. Even though his miraculous powers began to fade as his mind became clouded by such afflictions, he started to preach his own teachings, claiming, they're from the Buddha himself.
Tumblr media
The Buddha warned him that he is on the path of self-destruction but Devadatta was relentless. Long story short, he was so consumed by greed that he eventually convinced prince Ajatasattu to kill his father, the king, and usurp the throne, while he assassinates the Buddha. As an attempt, he unleashed a raging elephant, but it was calmed by the loving-kindness of the Buddha, and his other attempts failed as well. Although Ajatasattu took the throne, the public was so resented of Devadatta that he was forced to withdraw his support. After this, he tried to cause a schism in the Order, but his followers were won over by the Buddha. Devadatta eventually died of sickness, his bad mental state supposedly ate into his physical health, however, in his final moments, he realized his mistakes.
The story of Devadatta, in my opinion, is an ideal inspiration for the first Sith, if we go with the notion that the Sith were Force-sensitives who left the Jedi Order. This is in Disney canon, I think. If we go with the fact that according to George Lucas, the Sith ruled the known universe before they destroyed themselves, we have a more complex situation, because that would imply that the first Jedi started out as a Sith apprentice or a Sith Lord, like Gautama Buddha started out as a prince living in luxury, and not a great spiritual teacher, or that the Sith were able to gain control over the galaxy, like Darth Sidious did, with the difference that there wasn't an Emperor, but many warring Sith Lords who all sought to rule the whole galaxy.

Nimblermortal's Covid Survival Tips 2023
because what's the point of having this if I can't make it easier for the next person?
First symptom for me was a mild sore throat. This started around noon; the next morning I woke up with no symptoms but feeling terrible, which I interpret as the medical "sense of impending doom" that is a real symptom.
Charmin toilet paper. This stuff is softer than Kleenex. Get you a whole roll and a shopping bag. Don't have a runny nose for a symptom? Don't care, it'll come.
Blankets you can kick on and off. I spent two days "cycling" - chills, fever, then lucidity. You need to be able to both vent and huddle.
If you are scientifically inclined: Keep a thermometer nearby. I regret not taking my temperature during the cycles, I'm really curious about whether I was running hotter or colder during the hot stages. That said, you will definitely not have enough energy to take your temperature during these stages.
Some sort of infinite podcast. It doesn't matter what it is. Honestly I recommend Critical Role even if you don't like D&D live plays. You do not care what is going on here, the point is white noise that you don't have to change. Make sure the device is plugged in. I could only nap while there was white noise happening - and when I say 'nap' I mean 'I don't know if I slept or not, just that I was face-down and some time passed'.
Advil. This will lower the fever. If you can, wait until the second day - the fever helps burn out the disease, but this only applies to the first 24 hours. But don't let the fever get too high. I ran a steady 101 F/38.3 C for two days, which is fine. You can take one every 4 hours up to 6 times a day. For me the best effects only lasted 2 hours and I was ready by the fourth (but also a stubborn pig who tried to hold out; there's no advantage to this after the first 24 hours).
Small dishes. People kept trying to feed me and I couldn't finish anything. Small dishes, plain foods, let yourself have the ability to win at meals. (Note: this may not apply to you, but I'm the sort of person who used to be sent to elementary school with a single small potato because the cafeteria was too noisy for me to eat but I needed to win at lunch.) If you're preparing just-in-case, you could put some in the freezer
Immune boosters. My aunt swears by Sambucol, which is elderberry and vitamin C and zinc. Zinc matters more if you are male. My take on the Sambucol advantage is elderberry taste good.
Non-caffeinated tea. Something that goes down the throat easy. I had a sore throat to start with, then after the cycling I've got a progressively increasing cough; warm beverage nice. (I also craved a masala tea in the middle of the cycling, so caffeine might be nice, but you probably want to let yourself sleep.)
Vicks vaporub. Apply directly to the forehead liberally once the coughing starts. The package says you can do this 3 times a day.
Don't worry about cough medicines unless you have one you trust implicitly. Mum says they're not very effective, so you want that sweet, sweet placebo effect.
Someone to watch over you. Partly to make sure you don't get it worse than I had. Mostly because when I'm weak and sick I get clingylonely and I need someone to assure me I am loved. I had the same problem with the vaccines - shivering under the blankets calling weakly for Hyacinth because I was alone and Sad. Honestly the covid has been less intense but longer.
Recovery time. Covid heals a lot slower than comparable sicknesses. Whatever you think your return-to-work day might be, add at least two days to it. (I thought I was getting away with something last Wednesday, tried to work Thursday, and survived for one hour.)
More recovery time. This thing heals very slowly. I haven't had symptoms in a week - aside from having to plan for being able to do single-digit numbers of tasks in a day. And 'digesting a meal' is a separate energy task from 'eating a meal' is a separate energy task from 'preparing a meal' is a separate... (No really, I had to plan energy expenditure for digestion.) At a week out, I am still having to make room for daily hour-long naps and activities interspersed with lying down - though at least now I can embroider with a TV show during these periods. Give yourself lots of time, even when it feels stupid.

Can I request Yandere Platonic Two-Face, Harvey Dent and Batman/Bruce Wayne with Kanao Reader? (Harvey and Two-Face are split personalities, Harvey the Lawyer who wants to do right and Two-Face a violent mob boss to his enemies but gentle to those he loves, ex: His wife and his daughter, Reader)
Awhile before Harvey became Two-Face he discovers a young girl who can’t make any decisions for herself unless she’s told to (So he came to adopt her and gifts her one of his coins to help her make some decisions for herself if she’s unsure about what to do) and discovers Reader makes his darker personality much more tame (As they both have a kindred relationship when it comes to making decisions using a coin) unless she’s harmed or targeted in any way
However after he became Two-Face, Bruce Wayne takes Reader in to raise her (As a way to keep her safe until he can find a way to help Harvey come back) only to discover she has incredible fighting abilities and takes her in as another sidekick of his under his wing (She wears her Demon Slayer Uniform but has a mask to hide her identity)
Bruce has hope he can help Harvey after Reader shows she’s learning to make decisions without her coin as her crutch (Thanks to Robin)
-Harvey Dent remembered the day he found you, a little girl, lost in the dirty streets of Gotham, you were filthy, bruised, and emotionally numb from the abuse you had to deal with from your father, before he threw you out into the cold to survive on your own.
-You couldn’t have been more than six, but Harvey was never sure, because you were so malnourished and frail looking.
-He took you home, originally with the intent of cleaning you up and taking you to the police, but once he saw how emotionally fragile you were, he felt a tugging in his heart, one that led to him adopted you.
-The healing process took a long time, he cleaned you, tending to your wounds, and gave you plenty of food, all while treating you so gently, being a real father to you.
-Harvey discovered, later on, that you never seemed able to make decisions for yourself, you could never choose between things, be it movies or food.
-The day he gifted you a large silver coin was a turning point in your life, teaching you how to flip it, and telling you to make your decisions by flipping a coin.
-It was a slow process at first, but you were learning and Harvey was patient, and so was his wife, your adoptive mother, who nearly went feral after seeing the state you were in when Harvey first brought you home.
-You were showered with love with your new family, but when Harvey had his ‘accident’, becoming Two-Face, things changed.
-It was like he had two personalities, the gentle, loving father you’ve come to know and love over the years, and the other was a cruel mob boss who wouldn’t hesitate to kill another, usually using his coin to decide one’s fate.
-However, to you and your mother, Two-Face was soft around, being much like Harvey, but different, a different person, he was still gruff, but he would still always treat you with such gently kindness that you didn’t really care that your father was now two different people.
-Two-Face was only soft for you and your mother, you two were his weakness, and he protected those weaknesses fiercely, your home was always guarded, whenever you went out you had armed bodyguards who treated you like the princess you were, as they know if anything happened to you, it would be their heads.
-The only time he wasn’t soft around you is if you were threatened or hurt, then he was no holds bars until the threat had been taken care of, then he would turn back into a giant teddy bear, doting on and comforting you.
-Batman noticed the slight change in Two-Face, seeing that he wasn’t being as brutal as he normally would be, it made the crime fighter curious as to why the change.
-He investigated and couldn’t believe his eyes when he found Two-Face with a child, a young teenager, holding onto your hand on his Harvey side, out shopping together.
-He had no idea that Harvey had a child, but after a bit more digging, Batman figured out that you weren’t his biological child, as you looked nothing like him.
-Batman was concerned, after tailing you for a while, seeing how emotionally numb you were, but he knew Harvey and Two-Face had nothing to do with it, as he had seen his enemy treating you so carefully, so gently.
-Not willing to risk your safety, knowing how volatile Harvey could be, switching back and forth between personalities in only moments, Batman whisked you away so you could be safe until he brought Harvey back.
-You weren’t really sure what to make of this weird, masked man, he said he took you from Harvey, until he could get the help he needed, so you would be safe.
-He said you had something called ‘Stockholm Syndrome’ when you told him that you were already safe with your father, that he was always nice to you and never once, even after becoming Two-Face, did he make you afraid of him.
-Batman didn’t believe you, keeping you at a massive mansion, keeping any and all ways from you trying to reach out to your father, who was currently tearing Gotham apart looking for you.
-After meeting Bruce, Batman’s landlord, or at least that’s what he told you, he found out more about you, that Harvey found you as a child and took you in instead of taking you to the police or the orphanage and he’s raised you since there, almost six years now, and he helped you learn, gave you lots of food, and you became healthy and happy, or as happy as you were able to portray.
-The Bat Fam was a little thrown off by how much of an airhead you were, thinking Batman, Robin, Nightwing, and the others were just tenants of Bruce, who lived with his butler and various adopted children, not putting two and two together.
-Damien was quick to cling to you over the three months you were trapped, teaching you how to make decisions without your coin, it started off small, like chocolate or vanilla ice cream, and while you did appreciate his assistance, you still wanted to go home to your father.
-Bruce was stunned by your skills with a sword, after Damien wanted you to learn how to defend yourself, just in case, you looked so natural with a sword, like it was a missing piece of the puzzle.
-Batman tried to recruit you, but you refused, not wanting to be another one of his sidekicks, not liking the idea because you knew it would lead to you fighting your father and his men, which you refused to do.
-That is, until you realized that this was your chance to get out of the cage that Batman and Bruce put you in, and while not mistreated, you couldn’t leave.
-You felt bad, trying to deceive your new friends, like Robin, who was strangely similar to Damien as far as personalities went, and they all found it hysterical you couldn’t figure it out.
-You went out, wearing a black and white uniform with tall boots, looking similar to a Japanese officer’s uniform rather than a suit like Batman’s, using your sword, and you did have to admit, beating up bad guys was rather fun, as it gave you peace that bad people like this weren’t on the street anymore.
-You made the realization one night that your dad was one of these bad people, and it rocked you to the core, sending you into a near panic attack.
-You didn’t want to believe that he was a bad guy, until you realized that he was doing stuff these other bad guys were doing, sometimes even worse things!
-He was always so nice to you, he never yelled at you and made sure you were safe because he wanted you protected!
-Two-Face’s heart broke when he found you, laying a trap for the Bat Fam, and he immediately recognized you, removing your butterfly mask, and he froze when you recoiled from him in fear for the first time in your life.
-You asked him why did he do bad things, why was he a villain, and he was quick to point the blame to Batman, claiming he tainted you, turning you against him, brainwashing you!!
-You don’t remember the fight, having a breakdown as the two sides tried to attack one another, falling into a dead faint.
-Harvey, seeing you had fainted, took over and rushed to your side, cradling you close as Batman approached with the intent on taking you back and locking him up.
-Batman could see the anguish on Harvey’s side of the face, seeing that he didn’t want to lose you again, before Two-Face took over, “You’ll have my daughter over my dead body!” Batman could see that you were the one thing the two agreed on, that they were going to keep you safe.
-Bruce arranged for your dad to get the help he needed, promising you that once he was deemed sane, you and him could go home together, and Bruce would bring you to see your dad.
-The first visit you had with him you had leapt into his arms, sobbing loudly, showing the first real emotion in basically your whole life, as you felt so guilty for calling your dad a bad guy, but he didn’t blame you, and just held you close.
-It was going to be a healing process together, but Two-Face was willing to do anything to keep you by his side. Anything.

Hello! I was wondering if you could do some headcanons with TFP Optimus prime, Ratchet, and Megatron with a devilman charge? Like from Devilman Crybaby? If you haven’t seen either the shows basically the human had almost got taken over by a demon but since their will and human heart was strong enough they were able to over power the demon, so now they are able to transform into said demon and still be in full control? In demon form they are really powerful, heal quickly, and can fly due to their devil wings. Sorry if that’s vague, if this sounds too complicated I completely understand and you can skip this. Thank you and have a good day!
Optimus was extremely concerned for you when he heard you were possessed by a demon, but he's a little relieved that your will was strong enough to reject it's influence and overthrow it. He's unnerved that things like these exist on Earth, and depending on what you tell him about demons, he may or may not be concerned at the idea of a possible decepticon-demon partnership. But when it comes to bringing you with him on recon missions, he won't be as concerned about you since you have quick regenerative abilities. But just because you're stronger doesn't mean he'll let you help the autobots on missions (well, only in severe dire cases he will).
Initially upon hearing that you were possessed by a demon, Ratchet was skeptical. Unless he's seen demons before, he'd be extremely concerned about you, but then only partly relieved when you say that you were strong enough to over power them. He takes a slight medical interest to your power—mainly because he's still partly concerned about your well being, and he wonders if there are any other humans who've overpowered demons like you have. He's curious as to whether demons could possess cybertronians as well, or if the same thing that happened to you could happen to a cybertronian...
Megatron is indeed surprised and impressed that your will and heart were strong enough to overturn a demon's control, and given the fact you can now transform into an extremely powerful being he doesn't think of you as something weak and pathetic—well, he doesn't think of you that much in that way anymore. Unless you're able to go toe-to-toe with him in a fight and hold your own rather well, then he wouldn't see you as something weak anymore, he'd see you as a fantastic potential solider. He'd also look into attempting to recruit demons into the decepticons, if that's even possible.

Happy New Year first of all !!!
I think I'm coming a bit late but we never know... one of your most precious hc for the hollows is that they basically live in constant pain and misery 😏💞
What would be the espadas worst or most notable chronic pain in your opinion? Like do their joints hurt ? Deep ache in their hollow hole area ? Chronic migraine ? 🥺 please do your worst :)
I'm going to take a bit of creative liberty here and go with "most notable form of physical/mental misery" instead of specifically "chronic pain" for some of them, so I hope that works! :D
. . .
Starrk
The most notable thing for Starrk is just a general sense of utter exhaustion that never goes away. He's constantly tired in a way that goes well beyond "wanting to sleep"... one that matches up far better with what we'd know as "severe depression". Loneliness is also physically painful, sometimes. It shouldn't be possible, but when he's feeling his worst, the sense of utter isolation and misery aches deep down in his chest like it really might kill him.
Halibel
Her mask causes the worst pain. It's one of those Hollow things where the biology does not make sense, and between the weight of it on her unsuited human jaw structure and the motions it goes through to retract, her whole face, neck, chest, and upper back area tends to hurt quite a bit. The problem, while not exactly fixable, is mostly muscle tension and strain, so things like massage can provide a fair amount of temporary relief.
Ulquiorra
While he's good at disguising the outward signs, Ulquiorra is prone to sensory overstimulation-induced migraines, most easily triggered by an overload of sound or bright light. He refuses to acknowledge that he's feeling any kind of pain (especially in front of anyone else), but the worst ones force even his stoic self to retreat to his quarters and shut himself somewhere dark and quiet until his head stops feeling like it's going to split open.
Nnoitra
Everything. He's another one who doesn't admit to pain easily, but Nnoitra has a lot of it. Constant battles mean plenty of wounds, and among those, plenty that didn't heal right. There are more places on him that regularly hurt than he can count, and it's not like he bothers to try. Nnoitra completely ignores the pain unless it's impacting his ability to fight, convinced that he can handle it just fine... and that he deserves the suffering, anyway.
Grimmjow
The worst thing he experiences is the agitation. Grimmjow doesn't quite have a way to describe it, but there are times when he can't stand staying still. When he has to go out and wander and fight and do something, or he feels like he'll go insane. Despite getting highly aggressive during these times, they're more motivated by a restless sort of fear than anything. Beyond that, he also has the problem of a variety of old scars causing near-constant pain.
Szayel
He has a bad habit of refusing to sleep until his body literally gives out under him— even though Szayel very much knows better, sleep feels much too static, and much too vulnerable. As a result, he's near-constantly jittery and exhausted, functioning on a cocktail of self-made drugs to keep himself alert and capable until he's forced to rest. At its worst, the sleeplessness induces fits of awful paranoia that tend to end in a self-destructive mess.
Aaroniero
His entire body is a mess of incorrectly formed biology that never should have come together how it did. As a result, a lot of things hurt. Frequent pain and intense discomfort are just part of existence for Aaroniero— not that it makes his already-tense temperament any better. He doesn't know any way to fix it, and assumes that it's just what he has to live with as a consequence of his own weakness. It's impossible to imagine the hurt stopping.

Also, on a separate note from my last post, I just want to say that, as cool as it is flavor-wise, Sandygast and Palossand’s signature ability, Water Compaction, is kind of ineffective in practice. Palossand is supposed to be rewarded by being hit by water type moves, granting it a massive 2 stage boost to its defense. But the ability grants no resistance or immunity to water, so Palossand, as a ground/ghost type, still takes double damage from water moves. Palossand has a decent but not noteworthy special defense stat of 75, and the ability doesn’t boost special defense, so it clearly isn’t intended to help Palossand deal with special water moves, which are a significant amount of water type threats. Palossand’s defense stat is a solid 110, which is good but not particularly amazing. If the intent of the ability was to make Palossand good at tanking physical water moves, it isn’t particularly effective, as the first water-type move will do double damage, and then all subsequent physical water moves will have their damage be halved each turn due to the sharply raised defense stat. This sounds good on paper, but in many scenarios that first hit will leave Palossand quite low, probably under half hp. This makes it hard for Palossand to be switched in specifically to take a water type attack, especially because Palossand is quite slow (35 base speed) and will likely take a second hit before it can use its signature move Shore Up to heal back half of its hp. And speaking of Shore Up, the move incentivizes use on sand teams by being boosted to healing 2/3rds max hp in a sandstorm, but because Palossand is a ground type and not a rock type, it does not receive the special defense bonus from being in a sandstorm so Palossand still has no real tools to defend against special water moves
If you were really dedicated to trying to maximize the effectiveness of the ability, you could use a Passho Berry to halve the damage of the first water type attack (regardless of special or physical). Against physical water moves this would mean that the second and first hits do about the same amount of damage. However it is fairly impractical unless you’re planning on using Palossand specifically in a metagame where physical water moves are a big threat. Another option could be to use the much more widely useful sitrus berry to recover some health after dropping below half. Both of these options would make it more realistic that your Palossand might survive long enough to use shore up and become healthy on top of having the boosted defense stats. It still wouldn’t give Palossand any way of dealing with special attacks, and I could be wrong but I feel like special water attacks are somewhat more common than physical.
Another interesting thing to consider is that the opposing Pokémon likely won’t keep using the water move if it stops being effective. Once again, on paper this seems like a good thing. But the thing is that most water type Pokémon can learn decent ice type moves, and Palossand is weak to ice just as it is to water. If you aren’t switching in specifically to try to make Palossand get hit by a physical water type move, then you are relying on the opponent either not knowing or not caring that Palossand has water compaction. And frankly, assuming they’re using a powerful enough physical attacker, the opponent might not have much reason to take water compaction into consideration. However, if the Palossand user anticipates the use of the water type physical move and selects shore up at full health, there is a decent chance Palossand survives the initial hit, gets its defense doubled, restores half of its hp, and then is set up for the next turn. It is a pretty specific scenario and isn’t particularly reliable but it does mean there are scenarios in which the ability is somewhat useful.
One last point I will make about this, Palossand cannot learn body press or any special defense boosting move (outside of stockpile) and is too reliant on status moves to make use of assault vest, so having the increased defensive bulk from the boost doesn’t give Palossand a particularly huge advantage unless the opponent only has physical attackers. The opponent could easily switch to a special attacker, which does give the Palossand user one free turn, which it can use to put down stealth rocks, inflict the opponent with toxic or infestation, set up a substitute, get one stockpile boost, or use a few other fairly impactful moves in its arsenal, none of which are particularly massive moves to make with a free turn, but are definitely worth mentioning. Of course then you have to worry about whether it can actually stay out to tank the incoming special moves which it probably can’t so then you need to switch out and now the defense boosts are gone and it was all for very little effective gain. It’s kind of a shame because if it gave immunity or even just resistance to water it would be an amazing ability

Maybe one where y/n is dating dante before she ever met jack, bo, or Joseph
(Bonus: do you think dante would be able to somehow harm or even kill adj? I've been wondering about this for a while but can dante kill ghosts or spirits?)
Hehe, yay, an excuse to combine them
Ahem! So before I get into these headcanons, here are my thoughts on Dante vs. Sunny Day Jack. I think unless Jack has a physical weakness like destroying his VHS tape, then Dante would have a hard time getting rid of him. Impossible? No. It's just a bit challenging. He will probably figure it out in the end. As for Jack his would be closer to Impossible. He can't physically hurt Dante due to his healing abilities, and he would have a hard time possessing him due to half demon nature.
So, really, I think it would be stand-off till 1. Dante finds a way to get rid of him or 2. Jack gets his sunshine to completely cut off Dante. He is a bad influence, after all, and think about all that danger he brings!
Also, I wanna say that for this, I wanted to use various Dante's while yes, they are all him just different stages of his life they all have different personalities and ways of handling things so here we are.
Tumblr media
Joseph
If you are dating Dante before meeting Joseph, we must be talking young Dante (Dmc 3 dante). In the case, let me tell you that young Dante is more protective and hostile than his older counterpart.
Now, don't get me wrong, he won't outwardly attack anyone. That would leave a bad reputation on the shop he plans on opening. So, instead, he glares puffs out his chest and stands to his full 6'3 "height.
He makes sure Joseph knows you're taken. Dropping and picking you up every day brings you lunch sometime, and if he is always gone on long missions, he calls you at work.
If Joseph wants to stand a chance against Dante, he would have to lure away when Dante is off on his missions. He is less around for Joseph to fill your head with the reasons why Dante is bad for you.
Sunny Day Jack
If you're dating Dante, when you meet Sunny Day Jack, we must be talking late 20's Dante (the first DMC). This Dante is more collected than his younger counterpart, but still a bit hostile and protective. He doesn't want to lose anyone else.
He still won't outwardly attack anyone. In fact, he is more likely to degrade or verbally attack someone before resorting weapons. However, Jack is a special case.
Since only you and Dante can see him, and only you can touch him. Dante's hands are tied...for now. He is the son of sparda after all and has plenty of weapons ar his disposable. Something must work on this sunny day jackass!
If he notices you distancing yourself from him, he will automatically assume it's Jack's doing and shut that shit.down quickly. What would a clown from the 80s know anyway? Dante has only treated you with utmost love and care, so why would he let anything hurt you now?
Bo
If you're dating Dante before you meet Bo, we must be talking about early 30's Dante (DMC 2 Dante). This Dante is a little more serious the other two. He would rather let his intimidation do the talking. He is protective but not as hot headed.
That begin said Bo is WAY different case. I will say it now for everything good in the world. Keep Bo IN his Tamagotchi! No matter, he begs and cries.
Dante may be more level-headed, but Bo isn't. He sees Dante as an obstacle to goal. You. So as soon as gets free he will get ride of Dante the quickest way he can.
Bo may be strong, but Dante has taken down demons bigger than buildings, and not to mention Dante's DT. I'm not sure Bo stands a chamce.

Humm. I've been trying to figure out how this would work. May as well just throw out the idea.
Evil blue Moon
We shall nickname them Arcane.
This is based off of the idea of a blue moon that uses there magic without pity. Eclipse's are killed mercilessly. There's no feeling behind there slaughter, and no feeling for slaughtering those around them.
They basically taught by golden the same way normal blue moon is. The only difference is that they started to resent sun and moon for how they treated them. And then they thought they found a friend. Earth. But she was a liar. She tried to control him. He wasn't having any of that. He basically forced her to remove that pesky code that made him want to stick around. And once that was done he slaughtered Sun and Moon. Slaughtering Earth also despite her pleas.
He also gained an object like the cube. Put this one made purposely crafted from a wither storm they found. Using the ball pit to explore at first. I should call this object the octagon. There is no downsides to it. They simply lets him explore the universe to his ease and by typing in simple directions. Always able to return home whenever he wishes.
They go throughout the universe trying to cleanse it of eclipses. And if you are an eclipse lover. Well you're just in his way. People slaughter the eclipse in anyone that fights for them. And due to having no morals nor the younger mentality. They are stronger and faster. Unlike other blue moon types they took the star. Deciding to finish their wish. Which for them doesn't result in a shattering. Although the merger still happens.
This Blue Moon basically wished to be powerful and strong enough to siphon whatever energy/magic they wanted and to never run out of energy. Basically cutting out the main weaknesses of blue moon. Which is their ability to run out of endurance, the moral fears of murder, And the fact that some world still have magic. Arcane works more so like a wither storm himself in the world without magic. Sucking the energy out of everything around him. Uncaring of how it affects the world.
Arcane also does not really care about hurting somebody's feeling by eating them. While they would still want to eat somebody who is deserving. If they are hungry they will simply go to a Lord world and eat the inhabitants. If they want to challenge they might stalks in the streets of a standard world. Feeding into this sense of paranoia as they scramble to figure out why their friends are disappearing and dying. He honestly finds it funny.
Due to the extreme power creep they learn magic from many places. Their room magic is about as strong as Blue Moon's and stronger. Plus without their weaknesses dragging them down. They really are quick and merciles with how they hunt. And due to not having the weakness of running out of physical energy and never have worry that they cannot fight. They can fight for years if they wanted to. Utilizing the magic they have to basically heal them over and over again.
Not to mention the star they now use. Finding it as something to give them what they want to destroy all that pains them. Usually that is in a constant healing factor. Basically the star just heals them over and over again. Sometimes though it's to give them a significant power boost or a way to remove magic. Basically unless you are holding a star arcane could simply say that your magic doesn't exist. And it will be so.
Arcane is very dangerous. You don't want to meet up with Arcane. You don't want Arcane to find your world. And you definitely don't want to fight Arcane. As even in the most advantageous situations. They will just continue to fight. Using their practically invincible overhealing to keep up and of course not getting tired. They will fight you and tell the world is nothing more than the void a wither storm usually leaves behind. You either give up and die, or let the world die with you. Now of course it's very good thing. Arcane is simply for fun, and does not exist in the reality of my head cannons. As they are simply a april fools.

I can’t believe it’s been a year since I got this game and nine months since I started this blog. Unfortunately, the timing of me getting sick twice in a row these past couple of weeks means I wasn’t able to finish a fic in time to celebrate, but I’m determined to get one out soon! 💚 but I can’t let today pass me by without at least waxing poetic about this game, the community and their impact on me :)
cw: workplace abuse, childhood emotional abuse
This time last year, I was in a very abusive work environment. I was pushed well beyond my limits by people who didn’t care about me or the concerns I raised to them. I was told to shut up, that others had the same workload even though I clearly had more on my one-person “team.” I was a scapegoat. I began having weekly performance reviews in which typos in emails were put in the spotlight and heavily questioned/scrutinized. In the end, they fired me, HR refused to return calls from potential employers to verify employment, and they barred the few coworkers I actually liked from giving me recommendations (I only know because I aggressively pressed one of them after she rescinded an offer to help me), effectively making it twice as difficult to get any new job. I’m in therapy to recover from this experience, but I still carry a large amount of bitterness towards both my former job and myself, and I don’t know if it will ever fully leave me.
I am grouchy and short-tempered. I don’t consider myself to be a nice person or a good friend. My previous work experience solidified what an entire childhood of emotional abuse stemming from my neurodivergence taught me: it’s better to have no trust and be prepared to get angry if people think they can step on me; cut others off at the smallest sign of danger and keep myself at arm’s length from everyone unless absolutely necessary; calculate weakness in my bullies’ tactics and exploit it.
When I first got Hogwarts legacy, I would play maybe a couple hours every week. But what started out as an escape has become a source of healing. I see so much of myself in some of the characters, and seeing some of my pain, mistakes and flaws mirrored in them has given me the ability to give myself a little grace. I see so much of myself in Ominis, and my rabid need to write him receiving the love and healing I want/need has been extremely therapeutic.
Joining the HLDS dev team was the best thing I ever could have done. I’m finally starting to feel like I can trust some people a little more. The other discord server I’m a part of has been such a positive experience for me too, and I really do love and appreciate everyone there for being so nice to a grouch like me, even if I’m not really sure how to express that most of the time lol. The moots I’m regularly messaging/reblogging/responding to are so important to me. I am so happy you enjoy talking to me, because I adore talking to you too and seeing your notifs gives me such a huge serotonin boost.
Thank you to everyone who makes room for me in discord servers and reads my tumblr posts and talks to me about this game that’s had such a huge impact on me. It really does mean so much more than I could ever express. 💚

One thing I'm really getting sick and tired of is how people low ball Hinata in terms of her abilities and her feets despite the fact that she is actually stronger than most of the Naruto characters that we've seen on screen. I mean for crying out loud Hanabi is one of the strongest people of her generation yet Hinata kicked her ass despite not being active for over a decade. Just because a character hasn't been shown to do as much things doesn't mean they're not powerful or don't have impressive feats I mean has anyone ever forgotten about Shino? Another character who is possibly one of the most overlooked characters who's possibly one of the strongest characters yet doesn't get much showings.
Or what about our boy Rock Lee? He hasn't really done much yet he's one of the strongest Shinobi of his generation. They have gotten the chance to do anything like they yeah we have Sakura fans over hyping her character none of her feets are really that impressive. The 100 healings has to be one of the most misunderstood an over-hyped feats that Sakura has her feets are nothing to write home about all she is is basically a weaker Tsunade. Let's not even get started on how 100 healing is bullshit it was only given to her because Kishimoto had to give her something because how pathetically weak she was compared to Sasuke and Naruto she got it because of plot and it was an organic it wasn't foreshadowed compared to everyone else who legitimately earned the feats that they have.
I know if we go out of the Konoha level she is likely top 4-5. Her taijutsu is top tier and the gentle fist and Byakugan are overpowered. The only reason Hinata hasn't been shown much cause she is that strong that unless there is a huge difference of power it makes no sense for her to lose. Just take a look at Pain Hinata is the only character that has managed to blitz him and land hits when his jutsu wasn't on cooldown, not even Kakashi, Choza and Choji could manage that.
Fact is put Hinata against most of the Akatsuki is stacked in her favour the gentle fist and Byakugan are a hard counter for almost anything. Literally I think only Itachi, Kisame, Pain and Obito can deal with her properly everyone else even if she can't beat them one on one her Byakugan and gentle fist give a big advantage.
Plus that is only if Hinata sticks to the gentle fist, she also has lightning and fire change in chakra nature. If she add them to it can you imagine what she can do. Heck with the Byakugan she could even pull of Chidori if she was taught it.
Like I made a post ages ago about her lion fist its truly OP and shows how amazing Hinata is. If she got more spotlight she would be kicking ass there is a reason she has only fought the best of the best at those point in the story as other then them few can deal with Hinata.
Agreed Sakura is average at best her feats are only pulled off by surprise or cause she gets carried. Then the 100 healing does not make her stronger in anyway just makes her harder to die it means nothing when even Chunin level ninja can one shot her.

With the rules I put down, the group is within their rights to say no, since she isn't a Dancing Flock member, but
she's a Nephilim, and I've been wanting to get one so I can play around with them.
the group can do really good conversion rituals now thanks to their frankly excessive temple, so I do have a decent ability to convert non-prisoners now, and
her skills/traits are fantastic. That's not even so much a Nephilim thing, she just kinda rules.
Tumblr media
This does mean the group's gonna have to prioritize getting access to Angel's Grace, the drug that Nephilim need to survive. They're meant as basically the 'nice' counterpart to the Sanguophage, so that's their blood equivalent. (And, of course, this group absolutely can't accept a Sanguophage.) Unless they can buy/loot some, she's going to have to go without for a while, and be pretty miserable.
Although tbh even with a drug dependency, Nephilim feel like they've got a lot fewer drawbacks than Sanguophages. No equivalent weaknesses to the deathrest requirement/fire issues/sunlight sensitivity. On the other hand, Sanguophage doesn't get any skill penalties, has a lot more combat power, and gets psy sensitivity, tox immunity, Fast Runner, and reduced sleep. And Awful Shooting hurts a lot. So I don't think it's horribly unbalanced, either. The active powers are essentially healing and some buffs, which are still nice.
Tumblr media
Anyway here's Payne.
Tumblr media
When I was picking out new xenotypes to mod in, I didn't want to load up on fantasy-feeling stuff, and that was overall a huge limitation. (Full disclosure: I could've done a whole youkai-themed colony, and may still try that in the future.) But if imp and vampire people are allowed, so are angel people.

An Incomplete Guide to Magic in Locality Space
Maybe she's born with it. Maybe it's Magic School.
Witches (magic by birth)
Can be any species and gender
Hereditary link but not a directly inherited trait
Comprise ~1% of all people
Many witches have weak abilities; a few (like Christina, Bo, and the pirate queen Althea) have more powerful/versatile abilities
Magic is in some sense about the projection of the self into new places
Types of witch
Warp: can warp people/objects to a new location, with or without touching them. More powerful warpers can move more volume of stuff for longer distances, sometimes from further away from the thing being warped, and/or can better manage the quick creation and destruction of warp tunnels involved in warp racing.
Dive: can read minds when directly touching the mind's owner. Cannot change memories or thoughts in any way and only rarely cause them to become corrupted. More powerful divers can seek out memories/thoughts about specific topics to the exclusion of everything else.
Duplication ("Dupe"): can copy memories into written marks. Almost a magicraft, except without the innate ability to access and transfer the memories, there can be no committing them to another medium. Many dupe witches don't know they're dupe witches unless they are tested or have an unusual experience. More powerful duplicators can copy longer memories into the same amount of words and/or copy memories in more detail/sharpness.
Revital: can heal by projecting their vitality into someone else, essentially giving them a temporary healing factor. This can work on any injury that the body can heal itself (e.g. a scrape, a cleanly fractured bone), because it is healing itself, just faster. More powerful revitalizers can heal more injuries at once, or heal larger injuries more completely or quickly.
Magicians (magic by learning)
Can be any species and gender
Comprise ~10% of all people (maybe more)
Accomplish their magic with craftwork of some kind. Things can be made to have many practical effects but magicraft is first and foremost an art form, with many cultural variations
New crafts are created all the time as people figure out how to harness existing magical energy into new forms, including by combining crafts
Some types of magician/magicraft
Pigment: commonly seen in designs that make artificial gravity in ships (grav patterns) or moving artworks (what if you could print a gif)
Papermaking: common paper effects include self-weighting, crisp folding, self-copying, no ink feathering
Weaving (in English, "warp and weft" magic lol): common cloth effects include self-repairing, nonfraying, neon, sparkle, moving designs (which often use Jacquard loom style techniques)
Shifters (uncontrollable magic by birth)
basically werewolves, though they are not all strictly wolves in animal form
transform when the full moon clears the horizon, or on worlds without moons, apparently according to assorted other light and night cycle factors
cannot control the transformation, though some can delay it by a minute or two by concentrating really hard
considered their own species, yet unlike other nonhuman species, can have children with humans, which is part of how people concluded that shifters are magic humans
A few in-world theories of how shifters came to be
guy saw a magic thing
guy touched a magic thing
guy ate a magic thing
guy was cursed forever by an Entity
guy was blessed forever by an Entity
guy WAS an Entity
it's the moon's fault

Both witches and magicians can be taught at magic schools, and often are in tandem, even though their specific abilities don't overlap. Both are also taught at home or through apprenticeships depending on what's available/relevant. Young witches with strong powers, though, are sometimes sent to live short-term at schools that are better equipped to help them learn control. Most witches also have a specialty in a magicraft or two alongside their innate magic (and no, being a witch does not make you better at magicraft). And while some places encourage competition between magicians and witches (for group reasons or capitalism reasons), they're not inherently opposed.
Shifters get The Talk when they're children (shifting starts pretty early in life) and the conversation evolves as they get older and can understand more about why and how this happens and how to handle turning into a full on canid every moon cycle. This is especially important when they live somewhere besides their homeworld, because their shift cycle will always match the moon/night cycle at their place of birth. (As such the term "two-timer" does not refer to double-crossing but rather expat shifters, who may in fact wear dual-time watches or two separate watches to monitor both places at once.)
