@sensei-venus Mermay is great and all, pretty mermaids with shimmery tails and whatnot, but I had an idea (unedited).

What about a mermaid!Reader that was like Ursula from the Little Mermaid? As in she's half-human, half-octopus? She has all her curves and the long tentacles. She swims through the water and swishes around, mostly keeping to the sea floor but will swim through open water happily.

But she's different from other merfolk around. She's a rare species of mermaid and for that, most other mermaids treat her differently. Mermen think she isn't as pretty as other mermaids.

I see it almost like the cliche bullying trope of grade school bullying carrying over to their older years. Like as guppies, other merchildren teased her for having tentacles instead of a tail. (A baby octopus is called a fry! Yes, I looked that up because I just had to lol) It makes her more than a little insecure and quiet in her older years, more in the background as others around her become pillars of their little community. She has friends, like Moon and Yasmine and Sam, but she knows that if anyone else were to come around, they'd prefer to hangout with her friends over her. She knows potential mates would choose one of them and not her.

But she has no idea that there is one person who's had his eye on her for a very long time. As a guppy, he was too scared and shy to talk to her much. He mostly hid and watched her from afar as she played with her few friends and made jewelry. Other guppies always said she'd go up to be a hag, but he never thought so.

Mer!Eli was always too scared of sharing his feelings, but they always grew bigger and bigger with each passing year. As they grew older, he only admired her more as she helped her friends, and even non-friends, with any problems they might have. She's so kind and generous. She's also fairly strong and he loves it, swoons over the fact that she could use her tentacles to lift the heaviest of debris or creature off the ocean floor and toss it aside like its nothing. He only wished he had the courage to talk to her beyond friendly hello's and well wishes. Sometimes he can't even do that.

So he sticks to hiding and watching her go about her day, though his friends are getting tired of it. Demetri is just tired of getting dragged behind big rocks and coral bushes just to spy on the girl. Miguel thinks he should just go ahead and make a move. But Eli can't do that... he knows he'll never be able to do something like that. She's way too pretty for him, failing to realize he's only thinking she's out of this league.

Hina: Better here than a certain magenta menace reveals it to them.

Hina: Or said Magenta menace teams up with a pirate sentai to supposedly kill every Rider and Sentai in an effort to save the world.

Hina: I certainly do begrudge Daiki-san of his reaction.

Poppy: Was it really that pipapobad?

Tsukuyomi: It was bad, and that's speaking from hearing Woz narrate it to us

Kiriko: I, for one, am glad that this happened before Shinnosuke became a Kamen Rider.

Kiriko: I just know that TMPD, or at least the people above who has a grudge on him AND his dad would have done everything in their power to discredit and blame him for everything.

Neon: Wait a minute, what are you all talking about?

Tsukuyomi: You girls continue the discussion, I'll bring Neon-chan up to speed.

Akiko: I mean, Ryu was also blamed of something he did not do.

Akiko: But that was only once.

Akiko: What happened to Shinnosuke-kun was bullying.

Neon: Eeeeeeh?!

Mei: Yep.

Mei: That was my reaction upon hearing it myself for the first time.

Neon: That's cruel!

Neon: Couldn't they have thought of another plan?

Hina: Nope, they told everyone that there was no time.

Kiriko: Let's table that discussion for now.

Kiriko: What did you call us about, Hina-san?

Hina: So are we still on for using the fantasy idea Gou-kun pitched for next year?

Akiko: Yep, with Takeru-kun being the Queen of Hearts.

Kiriko: Shinnosuke as Ursula

Poppy: Emu as the Evil Queen

Hina: Eiji as Jafar

Tsukuyomi: and Gentaro-sensei as Prince Hans.

Neon: I can't help but think that you named all the royal villains first.

Tsukuyomi: So that Sougo wouldn't get to pick any of the villains with Royal blood.

Tsukuyomi: We do not want to encourage his delusions of being King.

Tsukuyomi: Because something bad happened.

Hina: So I was thinking, why don't we place that parent Riders and Baby Riders in one month.

Kiriko: i'm liking where this is headed, go on.

Hina: This would require Sougo to be changed into becoming Dr. Facilier.

Tsukuyomi: Facilier isn't connected to any royal, his only connection is him turning Prince Naveen into a frog.

Poppy: We'll have to ask Emu, but I think that works.

Kiriko: Wouldn't that place Sougo with the Royal villains?

Hina: As long as the person he's wearing isn't connected to royalty like Emu and Takeru are.

Hina: Here's what I think this would look like

June - Emu, Shinnosuke, Takeru, Sougo

Akiko: What about the other months?

Hina: July to December would be the Riders in their Rider garb, well parka versions of their Rider garb.

Kiriko: I'm sensing a twist

Hina: As a lot of the Riders still prefer to be private, even if their identities are already an open secret, why don't we switch who wears what rider garb?

Mei: So you're saying, Geiz could wear the Wizard Parka while Takeru would wear the Revice Parka?

Hina: Right, Mei-chan!

Kiriko: That could work.

Kiriko: Although, let's have Emu and Shinnosuke exchange their Rider garbs.

Kiriko: Shinnosuke wears the Ex-Aid Parka and Emu wears the Drive Parka

Poppy: That's a great idea!

Poppy: Emu in red would be a great look.

Kiriko: And I've always wanted to see Shinnosuke in pink.

Neon: Ano, why am I here?

Hina: You're here because you're input would be invaluable.

Hina: You're going to help me design Parkas for the Riders.

Kiriko: Parkas for the other Riders already exists.

Kiriko: However, we want to do this without having Takeru to call out the Rider Damashis.

Neon: I see, I'll do my very best!

Hina: Also, Kiriko-san. i'm sorry but as Shinnosuke-san is Ursula, he would have to be shirtless.

Kiriko: It's fine, Hina-chan.

Kiriko: They can look, but only I can touch.

buckle up your seatbelts, we're flying to Tokyo: the city of tradition and future

hi, tumblr's lovely people

your favorite teacher goddess is here with a new assignment which is preparing an AR/VR handout. once again my beloved friend Şevval Yılmaz (check her blog here and now, she's a gem) and I teamed up and from the two options that our teacher gave us, we decided to do a city exploration and fly you to Tokyo. but how are you going to do it, I hear you say? would you believe me if I told you that you can visit treasured sights, taste delicious foods, and explore the culture of Tokyo just by scanning QR codes on your phone? I'm sure you would shout no. then let me surprise you a little more. what if I told you that you can do all this for free? no, again? ah, good morning dear teacher candidates, and welcome to the universe of endless possibilities of AR/VR teaching materials!

we prepared 4 separate sections for the handout we prepared. in the 1st section, we took our students (and you if you're interested in flying with us) to visit two important places in Tokyo, Tokyo Tower, and Sensei Temple, and added QR codes to our task so that they could take a 360 VR tour. in the 2nd section, thinking that it is not only necessary to see new places but also to taste new flavors, we added QR codes of a video where they can learn the history of Japan's famous food ramen in a short and fun way and 6 easy ramen recipes with top secret tricks. in our 3rd section, we chose to include the culture and traditions of Tokyo. our 4th and last section was dedicated to the homework we would give to the students at the end of this experience.

as our homework, we asked our students to write down what they think about this experience. we also provided a link to an app called FutureMe and asked them to write down how they think they will be able to visit Tokyo or any other city 15 years from now in a different way than today, how they think technology will develop according to them, and to lock their writing until the date 15 years from now. we think this idea is genius, because if we can visit cities virtually, why not have a virtual time capsule, right?

since using Canva is now easy peasy lemon squeezy for us, we didn't face a big challenge during the making process. but I can say that we thought a lot about the design of the assignment. here's a little tip, when preparing a handout, finding the best shade of purple and pink is the most important part of the job.

Me:*presses play* Her: *skips intro* (the nerve!) Me: *phone rings* Her: *pauses**laughs* Look where I paused it.

*laughs more*

Her: Why is she always talking about Diana though? Me: *oh you sweet, innocent baby....* 

Her: She’s really annoying. Me: Who? Her: Akko. Me: She gets better in the second half. Her: What second half? Me: Of the 25 episodes. Her: And we’re still in episode 5?! For fuck’s sake... Let’s- Me: No skipping.

Her: Of course she (Diana) knows how to read that. Is there anything she can’t do??

*during the scene where they go to the dragon’s lair* Her: This has to be old, right? Me: What is? Her: The show. Me: It came out this year. Her: When did you watch it? Me: It just came out in 2017 so... Her: Seriously? Why does it feel like we’ve been talking about it for so much longer?? Me: *cause I’ve been trying to get her to watch it ever siince it came out probably*

*Akko attacks Fafnir* Her: Oh my god... I can’t. Eat her, fucking eat her. She’s so stupid.

*Akko: You’re a dragon, what are you going to do with all that money?* Her: Ooooooh it’s because dragons are hoarders! I get it now!

*Diana arives* Her: She’s the best one, isn’t she? Me: Took you long enough.

Her: Look, she’s talking about Diana again. Is that all she does? Screaming and talking about her?

Hina: For Takeru-kun, I was thinking of using the same clothes as when Shinnosuke-san wore. one time

Hina: Just with different colors, change the red into white and, change the circles into small red hearts and the yellow thing be changed from yellow to red as well.

Hina: Neon-chan suggested that we change the white scarf thingy, I believe it's an Ascot into gray or black.

Akari: Takeru really looks good in white.

Akari: I think he'd be handsome in that ensemble.

Akari: Although, I think he should also have a scepter with the top that's in the shape of a heart.

Kiriko: That's not bad actually.

Poppy: What about Emu?

Hina: As for Hojo-sensei...

Hina: I'm debating whether to let him wear a gender bended Evil Queen costume or make a new one.

Hina; Most media almost always dress kings in armor.

Hina: What do you think, Poppy?

Poppy: This is pipupepo hard.

Poppy: I think Emu would look good in the Evil Queen's clothes.

Poppy: Hmm, maybe this one *shows laptop*

Ursula is complete! Well, except for the hat, which I messed up and need to redo. But otherwise, she’s finally done! And I’m very happy with how it fits, I’m so short I was a little worried it would make me look dumpy but it’s great.  I decided against making the skirt look the way it does in the anime, mostly because I thought it looked weird and wouldn’t be very flattering on me. So I made a robe that would be more what someone would wear in real life. I like the results, and feel it still is in the spirit of Ursula’s uniform.
