~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And here, as requested, are Honorable mentions, in no particular order (some less honorable than others), with their reasons for exclusion:
Mikeko (Ace Attorney): Apparently Apollo's cat but as far as I can tell it was only mentioned not shown, you've got other cats in
Any of the playable cats (Catlateral Damage): yeah I'm not even digging into that I mean I tried but naaaah (not to sound lazy but if it doesn't have a good wiki page I'm not doing it sorry I've had this many cats to dig through; I did save the game to check out in my own time tho so cudos for that)
Tasque Manager (Deltarune): not cat enough
Doraemon (Doraemon ): if only this thing had cat ears... or a cat tail... preferably both... I get that it's a robot but it could be a lot of animals honestly
Lizzie (Empires Smp): whomst (if what I found is what was meant then it's a fish not cat)
Kitty Cheshire (Ever After High): not cat enough
Nepeta Lejiom (Homestuck): not sure she's cat at least ENOUGH if at all, don't know enough about homestuck, owner of Pounce who is in anyway (entry said they're sorry lmao)
Schrödinger (Időfutár): "Time-travelling cat" I have failed in finding their picture and it seems too niche to be presented without it even though I am so intrigued and regret I don't know the language of the source material I'd love to give it a read/listen
Revolver Ocelot (Metal Gear Solid): Compares himself to ocelots and meows apparently, but no visible cat aesthetic sorry
Raku-chan (Nyan Neko Sugar Girls ): why.
Aisha Clan-Clan (Outlaw Star): not enough cat
Honey the Cat (Sonic the Hedgehog): that's enough cats from sonic (real reason: model so low-poly she would cut her opponents, and before you argue - there's a difference between pixel models and low-poly old games models)
The song pet cheetah twenty one pilots concept album lore: oof yeah um I get what a concept album is kinda buuut it's just a weird entry idk we've got plenty of fandom cats to go around
Gaetan (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt): Witcher from school of cat but he's still well pretty much human (don't come at me about witchers not being the same as humans he's not a CAT and that's all that matters to me)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What's next?
Well, I have to make the bracket itself. As you can see, there's a bit more cats than I was intending to have, which means that certain polls in round 1 will have more than just two options. I can already tell you that a lot of the cats from the same fandoms are going to be eliminated in round one. That's why I kept them in. I'm planning on making up the first round match ups based heavily on the similarities between cats and the fandoms they're from. ALSO as you've probably noticed, some cats come in a bundle. That's because they're a family. I'm not doing this to Kitty Softpaws and Puss (at least YET), because even though they also get married in the end, there's a huge gap in their submission numbers. If you're wondering, how big, you may want to know that up to Tigger from Winnie the Pooh (that is, almost the entire first pic) are the cats that got 2+ submissions, in their order of popularity.
Next step - brackets!!! I want to do this well and I hope I don't underestimate certain fandoms!!!

The Vanguard Swimsuit Fic, part 2
"Guardian! What brings you here so early?"
Saint-14's slightly tinny voice echoed across the mostly-empty hangar, causing one or two people to turn and look for a moment, before drearily getting back to their own 4 a.m. work.
"Well..."
"Something is wrong?"
"Not... exactly. I'm- hmmm..." the Guardian mumbled, so quietly that Saint leaned in a little nearer.
"Alright, enough stalling," The Guardian finally managed, stepping conspiratorially even closer, hoping the vast metal space would not pick up enough of what followed to embarrass them, "I'd like to ask if you'd... like to..."
"Anything you need for help, I can do." Saint cut in, voice just barely lowered, placing a reassuring hand on the Guardian's shoulder. The Guardian wrung their hands, staring at the ground for a few more agonising moments before finally asking:
"Would you like to be... in a calendar...?"
There was a moment's pause. The Guardian's breath caught.
They looked up. A pigeon had flown up and landed on Saint's shoulder, and the towering Titan was now stroking its head with a single finger, thinking.
"What calendar is this, Guardian?"
"Um. Well, uh. Y'see, the uh... the Eliskni Quarter rather needs some more funding, but without the handy presence of space pirates, the Vanguard's been a bit shot on how exactly they can drum up any money."
The Guardian paused, but Saint gave no comment, so they went on.
"So uh, I had the idea that perhaps if we made something as desirable as pirate... ahem, uh, 'booty', then maybe we could fleece-- I mean, convince other guardians to spend their hard-earned glimmer on it, then send all the proceeds to building up the Eliskni Quarter?"
Saint looked down at the Guardian, contemplating for just a moment before bursting into raucous laughter.
"Huh- what-"
"Guardian! Goodness, I thought you were here to suggest something dangerous! I will gladly do anything to help Misraaks and our Eliskni friends!"
"Now tell me, what exactly do you want me to do for this calendar?"
--
About thirty paces away, Juan José Partinax was typing up some work emails, looking studiously at his screen while straining his ears to hear what The Guardian (Crota's bane!) was saying to Saint-14, as they stood conspicuously huddled together. The enormous, smooth metal hangar was usually too loud to hear anything, but this early in the morning, the sound travelled undisturbed for long enough to just about make out what they were saying.
What he heard soon brought a reddening heat to Juan's cheeks, and it took a few seconds for him to realise he had already sent the final email, though his hands still tapped absent-mindedly at the holographic keys. A heavy clang signalled the docking of an early courier, right as the Hangar-worker took a furtive look at the two legendary figures.
Saint was laughing again, and this time was joined by the Guardian until both lightbearers' knees grew shaky, the Guardian even stumbling before calming down.
"HEY, JUAN! YOU SAID YOU HAD A PACKAGE FOR ME?"
The familiar voice cut through the near-silence of the Hangar, leaving Juan with just one more second of staring, before he turned somewhat reluctantly to shout back at Go Sangbu, the lovely - if very loud - jumpship clamp operator.
--
"Oh, and, Saint?"
"Yes, Guardian?" the Titan boomed, voice still on the very edge of a chuckle.
"Let's have that bet. Ten thousand Glimmer says you can't manage it."
"Ha! You will lose your money, Guardian - I do not wish to part you from your hard-earned Glimmer so easily!"
"Yeah yeah, we'll see. The day anyone manages to convince him to wear so much as a pair of shorts, I'll eat my hat."
And with that, the fellow guardians shook hands, said their farewells, and waved goodbye. Feeling a good deal better about themselves, the Slayer of Gods practically skipped back up the stairs to the main Tower courtyard, barely containing their glee at managing to get the big ole pigeon-lover's support in this silly endeavour.
Saint, meanwhile, was beginning to seriously wonder how he was going to convince Osiris to wear a bikini.
xxxxx
End of Chapter 2! The silliness continues
Next time, on The Vanguard Swimsuit Fic:
Will Lord Shaxx be as easy to convince as the bird-loving Saint? Find out next episode in: "Shaxx's Claymore"!

Quote
To Juan Larrea Mexico City, 7 June 1957 Dear Juan, Your latest letter has arrived and I see you definitely agree to the formula for the credits being ‘original story by Juan Larrea, based on…’ Good. Everyone’s happy. At the end of April, I sent you the contracts by registered post, in which both our names appear as the authors. They were signed by me and Barbachano, and there was a space for you to sign. You didn’t say whether you received them. If you have them, send them back to me without signing so I can destroy them; if they didn’t reach you, let me know anyway so they can be reclaimed from the post office. I’m sending new contracts with this letter, naming you as sole author. If you agree with what I say below, sign them and send them back to us at once, because the agreement has to be ready, signed by both parties and paid for, before the collective labour contract between the Production Union and the Association of Producers expires; in other words, by very early July. If not, the entire project may fall through. So that in the future no clouds may ‘cast a shadow on our entente’, I shall now tell you, entirely frankly, my thoughts on the making Illegible, Son of a Flute and, to do so, I shall start with a little history. After having not thought about our scénario for eight or more years, I decided, one day, to read it. I liked it a lot as a spiritual action film, but so many dreadful things had happened in the world since it was written I felt a lot of the scenes and some of the angles no longer made sense. Today, I can honestly say that I would be incapable of making a film that ends with ‘the miraculous growth of wheat sown by two Spaniards on a promised land’. I would suggest that, if that scene is left in, the film needs to end with a profound question mark over the destiny of mankind, and I’m only saying this to come to some sort of compromise with you, because I totally agree with the words you put in the mouth of the Jehovah’s Witness: ‘WHO CAN DOUBT THAT THESE ARE THE LAST DAYS? WHO IS SO BLIND AS TO IGNORE THE SIGNS RAINING DOWN ON NATIONS? THE END OF THE WORLD IS NIGH.’ That is the kind of apocalyptic tone that resonates best with my current beliefs. During the reading I’m talking about, some of the gags seemed very rusty to me, like the walkie-talkie that Illegible, Son of a Flute digs up, completely démodés. Others, however, still worked just as well. As examples of vanguard film, I would cite: the roast pigeon on the head of the Thinker, the telephone emerging from between the eyebrows, the map of the brain with the little flags. Examples of stale Buñuel: the shark in the coffin and the monks in the crate. ‘Excessive’ artistry: the cosmic symphony fishermen. Political, the Peace movement: the little dove flying out of the suitcase (I’m sure something much better could fly out, something truly portentous. Let’s see who can come up with it). I could maybe give you some more examples, but these are enough to give you a sense of my thoughts. I found the rest really poetic, energetic and relevant. I’ll send you the adaptation, and I should like the ending, if not pessimistic (my position), at least to be inquiring, that might be our compromise. I’m aiming for a completely realistic tone, with no vanguard tricks, using apparently everyday images to express the poetic and far from everyday theme. At other points, of course, we’ll have no choice but to use striking images. Your gag about the man with the donkey is an excellent example of the ‘form’. The elements of the scene are commonplace: countryside, some friends walking, a man coming in the opposite direction, a banal conversation… but the content is mysterious, full of originality and, above all, humour. As I am a very mediocre correspondent, I shall bring this letter to a close. I’m sure what I’ve said in it will be enough to give you an idea of my vision, which is absolutely essential as I’m going to be making a film based on your work. I would be grateful if you could reply at once, for the reasons explained. For now, work on the adaptation is mostly on hold. My warmest regards to both of you, Luis [PS] Let me know how you want me to send you the money and where.

Synopsis: On Cybertron, before the war… Orion Pax and his team prepare for their attempt to steal the explosive replica of the Matrix of Leadership hidden within the body of Nominus Prime in the Primal Basilica. Incredulous, Prowl refuses to get involved, but promises not to blow the whistle on Pax if he keeps Prowl's partner Chromedome out of the action. As Prowl departs, Chromedome and Roller return from the Academy of Advanced Technology with three of its students selected by Pax's senator friend to help in the heist, all "outliers" possessed of special powers: the technology-disrupting Glitch, the magnetic Windcharger and the super-learner Skids.
Aboard the Lost Light, Rewind's story takes a short break so Ratchet can check on the progress of the still-unresponsive Rung. Swerve pilfers some especially hard "Nightmare Fuel" liquor from Trailbreaker and begins dishing it out, jokingly getting Rung's name wrong and being warned by Ratchet that he particularly hates that. Everyone settles down as Chromedome gets back to his part of the story, describing his visit to the workshop of Iacon Mechaforensics ballistics expert and Primal Vanguard fanboy Ironfist, from whom he obtained a replica Matrix they could swap the bomb out for. Ratchet interrupts for a moment to recount an exchange between him, Roller and Pax that followed, as Roller attempted to warn Pax of various questionable activities his senator friend was involved in, including the recruitment and modification of other Autobots in addition to Pax himself, but Pax would not hear it.
In the Lost Light medibay, Rodimus balks at First Aid's diagnosis of Red Alert's comatose state as the result of attempted suicide. Ultra Magnus attempts to restrain him as he grows angrier, accidentally gouging large dents in his arms that shock him into relaxing. Magnus proposes putting Red Alert in cold storage until their circumstances are more conducive to his mental well-being, and with Drift's agreement, Rodimus sadly does so.
The story of the heist continues, with Ratchet describing how each of the outliers used their special powers to help penetrate the Primal Basilica while Chromedome and Roller remained behind to guard the senator. Their approach hidden from the Sky Spy network thanks to Roller's hacking skills, Windcharger magnetically levitated the team over the heads of the Triorian Guard of Triple Changers standing watch at the Basilica, while Glitch deactivated the security systems so that Skids could (indignantly) lower Pax into position with his grappling hook. Discovering that the Matrix-bomb was locked in place, Pax switched places with Ratchet, whose incredible hands picked the locks with ease. Things almost went south when Glitch patted Skids on his back, jamming his winch and causing Ratchet to drop the bomb, but Windcharger saved the day by magnetically preventing its fall. The theft successfully completed, the team departed, but, having not been contacted by Roller at the appointed time, Pax sped on ahead to investigate; Chromedome takes over the story to describe Pax's return, just in time to find that Senate thugs Kroma, Macabre and the Heavies had attacked their safehouse.
Pax took out one of the Heavies, but when Kroma held his gun against Roller's head and proposed an exchange, the senator agreed to go with him. The remaining Heavy, Anvil, remained behind to finish off Pax, but Pax used the Matrix-bomb to destroy his attacker, then unearthed Chromedome from the rubble to lead him to the Institute, figuring Kroma had taken the senator there. Alas, they discovered it was deserted—because despite its name, it was not unique. The senator had potentially been taken to any one of hundreds of hidden facilities, lost to them.
Such is the end of the story: not a happy one, but an ending nonetheless. Tailgate has a few remaining questions, which Rewind answers: Proteus did not keep his promise, and much to Tailgate's surprise, Orion Pax became Optimus Prime. Sadly, Rung remains non-responsive, but when alarms suddenly begin blaring throughout the ship, and everyone heads for battle stations, Skids decides to try one last thing: he leans close to Rung, and deliberately mispronounces his name several times. Quietly, the psychiatrist awakens and corrects him.
On Cybertron, before the war… Orion Pax is approached by another of the senator's recruits, Zeta. And elsewhere, in one of the many Institutes, two staffers talk about the newest victim of Shadowplay: a senator who is also being subjected to the head-and-hand replacement ritual known as empurata. A senator…
…named Shockwave.

‘A Round of Applause for the Number One Artist on the Planet’: Bad Bunny’s Seismic Yankee Stadium Show Was One for the Books
Tumblr media
The Puerto Rican superstar brought the biggest show in the country to New York with a star-studded parade of guests, including Romeo Santos, Jowell & Randy, the Marias, and more.
It almost feels like a cliché to declare 2022 the year of Bad Bunny, because let’s face it: The last several years have been entirely his. Since 2020, the Puerto Rican titan has been the most streamed artist in the world, and every rotation around the sun only makes him a bigger phenomenon. He keeps breaking records and climbing skyward, reaching a place reserved for rare, once-in-a-lifetime stars.
His latest feat? A truly seismic show — one of two back-to-back nights — at Yankee Stadium as part of the World’s Hottest Tour, one of the biggest concert runs in the country right now. Madison Square Garden and Barclays were too small, so gorgeous and glittered-out fans in bunny ears and bucket hats filled the 50,000-person venue as Bad Bunny went through a dazzling, three-hour setlist that hit all the peaks in his career. After an opening DJ set from Diplo, Bad Bunny kicked things off surprisingly early at about 9:15 p.m. He took the stage, leaning back in a beach chair, relaxed and ready to have fun. Then he immediately launched into “Moscow Mule,” the dreamy first cut from Un Verano Sin Ti, the history-making album that keeps boomeranging back to the Number One spot on the Billboard 200 this year. Elated cheers filled the stadium, but the people inside weren’t the only ones listening: Massive crowds flooded the surrounding area, with fans dancing and celebrating outside the security gates, overjoyed that the music was loud and clear enough to travel across multiple city blocks. Entire families and throngs of children packed the nearby Macombs Dam Park to the brim, picnics and Puerto Rican flags in tow. It wasn’t just an event for people who got a ticket; it was one for all of the Bronx. His links there are deep: Bad Bunny famously drove through the borough during his memorable pandemic concert atop a moving van in 2020, and recorded part of his video for “Tití Me Preguntó” there.
Tumblr media
And then came the parade of guest stars. Ever since Bad Bunny gave the world a preview of the tour during a remarkable three-night run at El Choli, in his hometown of San Juan, Puerto Rico, people have been looking forward to the surprises and gems he’s planned. Those first shows in Puerto Rico were probably the most legendary, featuring beloved acts such as Tony Dize and Chencho Corleone, rising stars Villano Antillano and Young Miko, indie luminaries Buscabulla and Bomba Estereo, among many more. He shattered the attendance record at El Choli previously set by Metallica, and a night that was broadcasted live on Telemundo also set a new rating record for the network. Still, Bad Bunny found ways to make Yankee Stadium feel profoundly singular, special, and tailor-made, a testament to how much he’s clearly poured into these performances.
First, Corleone came out in a jolt of excitement, joining Bad Bunny for their recent collab “Me Porto Bonito.” A little later, two of reggaeton’s biggest perreo champions, Jowell & Randy, leapt onto the stage for the iconic “Safaera.” They also sprinkled in bits of their own hits, including the Casa De Leones classic “No Te Veo” and Randy’s recent viral jam “23.” Then the thrills continued: The most unexpected moment happened when Dominican bachata king Romeo Santos, who was born in the Bronx, showed up, the screams from shocked fans rising by several decibels. The two of them performed a pitch-perfect version of the brilliant “Volví,” and later Bad Bunny took on Don Omar’s part as Santos began singing 2005’s “Ella Y Yo.” “Que viva el reggaeton y la bachata!” Bad Bunny shouted onstage.
Reggaeton and trap vanguard Arcangel was also featured prominently in the evening, clad in a white bucket hat. He showcased his slippery, inimitable flow and reminded people that he’s been standing behind El Conejo for a long time: Some of their major songs together have included “Tu No Vive Asi,” one of Bad Bunny’s earliest tracks, and the more recent “P FKN R,” from the exceptional album YHLQMDLG. “A round of applause for the number one artist on the planet,” the Puerto Rican veteran yelled to the crowd. María Zardoya, the singer known for the delightful indie band the Marías, also stopped by. Dressed in a shimmering outfit that made her look like she could be starring as an A.I. femme fatale in a sci-fi flick, she sang her parts of “Otro Atardecer” in a gauzy voice, identical to the recording.
If you ever wanted to propose the world’s most dangerous drinking game to a Bad Bunny fan, you’d ask them to take a sip of alcohol whenever the Puerto Rican star said “thank you.” The man was so filled with gratitude, savoring each moment and expressing his appreciation to fans, sometimes multiple times after each song. In particular, he thanked New York for blasting his early hits in 2016 and 2017 when he was breaking through and drawing attention across the music business.

After going back into his repertoire for early tracks, he turned to Un Verano Sin Ti. Describing it as a special album that brought him a lot of joy, he kicked off with the project’s title track. A little later, a small platform the shape of a little island seemed to materialize out of thin air and lowered down onto the stage so Bad Bunny could hop on. Once he did, he floated across tens of thousands of screaming fans like a quickly passing comet. His dedication and stamina was more impressive, given that he wrapped his El Último Tour del Mundo dates not that long ago.
Whether it was old hits or new ones, the audience yelled every word with him. There’s a specific euphoria to screaming Bad Bunny lyrics along with another 50,000 people. Not only are his hits well-constructed, veritable bangers that have marked an era in a short amount of time, the soft heart of every song is filled with a kind of nostalgia and emotion only Bad Bunny knows how to deliver. They’re also imbued with a sense of magic that comes from knowing that not too long ago, the Puerto Rican megastar was a young kid working at a local supermarket. Now, he’s achieved something that is in many ways unparalleled. Looking across the bright lights of the stadium at tens of thousands of Latinos united over what he’s built through endless work and talent felt nothing short of spine-tingling.
Toward midnight, Bad Bunny lit the stadium up, fireworks and pyrotechnics and all, for a brilliant finale that included the electro-heavy “El Apagón” and the merengue banger “Después de la Playa.” The very last scene was Bad Bunny huddled with all of his dancers as they held a massive Puerto Rican flag front and center, bringing everything back to the place that made him.

6. CAMINATA
“Then, for more than ten days, they did not see the sun again. The ground became soft and damp, like volcanic ash, and the vegetation was thicker and thicker, and the cries of the birds and the uproar of the monkeys became more and more remote, and the world became eternally sad.” (Marquez 11) Estimado/a:
Visiting Parque Tayrona was a highlight for me. Who wouldn't love a grand adventure through magnificent natural scenery while hiking with friends. Trekking through the treacherous terrain through everchanging ecosystems and under the watchful eye of a mountain felt very reminiscent of the journey Jose Arcadio undertook to establish the village of Macondo. Marquez writes, “That was how they undertook the crossing of the mountains. Several friends of Jose Arcadio Buendía, young men like him, excited by the adventure, dismantled their houses and packed up, along with their wives and children, to head toward the land that no one promised them.” (23) Furthermore, we were hiking with a goal in mind- to reach the beach at Cabo San Juan. In this way we also mirrored Jose' frantic search for the sea. Marquez, “He considered it a trick of his whimsical fate to have searched for the sea without finding it, at the cost of countless sacrifices and suffering, and to have found it all of a sudden without looking for it, as if it lay across his path like an insurmountable object.” (12) Along the journey we naturally divided into smaller groups with some walking at a faster pace than others. My group happily made up the vanguard, walking at a leisurely pace taking in the sites and thus our journey felt slightly never-ending. I remember sharing a laugh with Claribel and Duvan at a sign that said the beach was on 30 mins away, knowing that we would most likely take longer. I believe Parque Tayrona is an example of geopoetics and myth. In terms of myth, besides our trek mirroring the founding of Macondo. There was a place along the route that declared itself the beginning of the world and I immediately thought about how Macondo is also the beginning of the world for the novel, as it is the first setting we're introduced to. The park’s landscape also produced a geopoetics effect with its large rocks mirroring Macondo’s rocks that looked like ‘prehistoric eggs’.

In 2003, I released my first EP. It was called Ocean. I was earnest, bright-eyed, hopeful. One thing I was not? Cool. I liked cool things, but I looked at them from afar. I liked US pop culture more. If they were dishing it, I was eating it. After 20 years, I listen back to this little EP, and I can hear noughties influences. I was drowning in butterflies, tulle, shimmery eye shadow, fairies, and metallic everything - audibly and visually.
The records on the EP came from the songs I had written as a teenager on my bedroom floor with a guitar borrowed from a friend.
I was a Coastie of the Central Coast variety ‘til 2002 when my Sydney-based musician friend, convinced me to move to Sydney. We used to write music together. Before that, back on the Coast, I was writing and playing with a bunch of guys. We played Kincumber Mountain, the Avoca Beach Theatre, the Terrigal Markets... I had a nose piercing and I would sing Ben Harper covers along with my own material. Once I wore a sweat towel that belonged to the late Juan Nelson, bass player of Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals. I tied it around my jeans. My friend had obtained the crotchet towel for me when Juan threw it into the crowd at a gig. My mum and dad would come watch me at the markets. After those gigs in Terrigal, we would go and have coffee at Aromas on Church St. That café is no longer there. I loved that place.
Once I had written enough material in Sydney, we went into the studio to record my songs. I found a guy named Luke to produce it. I tracked with some other guys from the Central Coast named Gus and his brother Luke who had some very nice recording gear that I believe used to belong to INXS. I had a mixture of musicians from the Coast and Sydney. Great players. Tim, Matt, Nigel, Mike, Peter. My good friend Lindsay sang background vocals - when we paused from our hysterical laughing long enough for the engineer to actually record a proper take. After we tracked, we went up to Rocking Horse Studios in Byron Bay for a few days, and an engineer named Brendan Anthony mixed the songs. I loved working with Brendan. He had good stories about people he had worked with. He affirmed my ideas. We would bounce songs to CDs and all go for drives to the beach to listen to the mixes (RIP car speaker tests). We all played table tennis. We all took exactly, um, zero (i.e., 0) photos.  We would bounce more mix ideas and listen in the cottage. I returned to Sydney with a stack of compact discs for Don Bartley, the mastering engineer at Studios 301. In 2003, 301 was located at 301 Castlereagh St, Sydney. And so, there I was, unsure if one sat in on a mastering session or not. I went with, yes, just sit in on it. I had nothing to do for those hours. In order to break up the day, I scheduled a break to procure myself a skinny latte (another 2000s cliché - and a coffee order that I refused to let go of until 2020; a metaphor, if ever). I drank it slowly while I sat on the couch behind Don. There were a few books and zines on the coffee table. I read every word. But I didn’t leave. I was utterly clueless, utterly still. I didn’t want to miss a moment of this process. When he finished mixing, he turned around and gave me great encouragement in my songwriting.
This year is the 20 year anniversary of Ocean - an album that would open little doors. From some great gigs in Newtown supporting Vika and Linda Bull at the Bridge Hotel, Jenny Morris at The Sandringham (at that gig, one of her companions, Jon Farris left me a little starry-eyed when he came up to me and let me know he liked our sound that evening -  so I gave him one of my CDs. Did he take it with him? Who can say? But who cares. Not I. Not then. Not now. I played The Vanguard when it was called “The Vanguard” the first time round. I played in New Zealand. I played wherever I could get a stage. I would scour the Drum Media newspaper for new venue ideas. Sometimes I took the band, sometimes I just took a keyboard. I had my name listed with a booking agency, waiting for calls to be invited to play somewhere, anywhere. My song Superyou got a bit of radio play. I took my EP to some record executive who really liked it but wanted me to boost my profile by landing a role on Neighbours. I actually found an agency and got some shots done to try my hand at television. But as I walked out of the photographic studio, I knew I wasn’t being myself.
The more I think about my writing and recording endeavours, the more I realise I was smack back in the middle of a cultural transition. As I look to the context in which my music was birthed, I understand it was well and truly the end of the 90s, and into the new millennium. The live music scene was dying in the early noughties. We were all working out what it would take to survive the transition. I once supported a major artist, and I brought the bigger crowd. That was strange. No one knew what was going on. Communities formed online. Tumblr. Blogs. Wordpress. The noughties would end with me writing for Mia Freedman (another story for another time). But the noughties marked the beginning of the end of magazines, the era of fashion blogs, the seeds of the influencers. And 2003? Well, that was the moment of transition. The world was somewhat cleaning itself up, making way for, my goodness, Australian Idol, Facebook, iTunes. We steamed the vomit out of the carpet. We didn’t save the Sando, Newtown. Regulations came in. Rules came in.  Pokies came in.  Branding. Marketing. Copywriting.
I have curated somewhat of a museum here on Tumblr (seemed fitting) as an ode to my first EP, Ocean, the first of four projects I would make over the next twenty years. Voiceless (2011) and Carry On (2016) would follow. My new album Familiar Drama comes out soon. Take Me Back to the City, the first of ten songs, is out now. Love, petals, and tiaras, Jules xo

Marta Del Rio Lends Her Avant-Garde Eye to KitchenAid Marta Del Rio has been styling and crafting some of the most memorable looks for artists and pop culture icons for years, from Lady Gaga to Billie Eilish and Paris Hilton. But she’s also lent her creative chops to consumer brands like Apple, Estee Lauder and Fendi, making her a fitting partner for new territory like kitchen appliances.This week, Del Rio is unveiling a stylish new project that’s been in the works with KitchenAid, the brand known for equipping kitchen lovers with all kinds of essentials. In partnership with Whirlpool’s in-house agency, WoW Studios, together they designed a capsule collection of seven one-of-a-kind designs inspired by KitchenAid’s most iconic products: the Artisan Stand Mixer and K400 Blender.Both products are being released in a new Hibiscus shade, which KitchenAid has named its 2023 Color of the Year. (Past KitchenAid Colors of the Year have included Beetroot and Honey.) Hibiscus, a vivid fuschia shade with a matte finish, was chosen for its nod to the Hibiscus flower and the global resurgence of maximalism."We’ve been tracking the evolution of the color pink since 2017," said Brittni Pertijs, lead color, material & finish designer of KitchenAid. “Beginning with Millennial Pink and advancing to deeper hues as of late, pink is bringing boldness to life in its color and energy. We took that as the spark to create Hibiscus. Hibiscus is a color that draws us to something exciting.” Del Rio’s collection, which will be presented on the eve of New York Fashion Week on February 9, features sculptural, strong and avant-garde (her signature) silhouettes and is rendered entirely in that Hibiscus colorway. It merges industrial and organic references with the distinct lines and curves of KitchenAid appliances.“KitchenAid is a brand with an instantly recognizable design language, which made celebrating the new Hibiscus color a natural fit,” said Del Rio. She also invited a group of New York’s emerging fashion vanguard to each create a full look inspired by Hibiscus as well as KitchenAid’s design language. The guest designers include Jackson Wiederhoeft, Tara Babylon, Tia Adeola, Bach Mai and Man Made Skins.“It was a pleasure to be able to invite five New York-based fashion labels to expand this core collection,” Del Rio adds. “Each of their custom editions for this project showcases their design hallmarks and celebrates the KitchenAid Color of the Year, Hibiscus.”STAND MIXER: ®/™ ©2023 KitchenAid. Ayahuasca – A Wonderful Plant That Remedies Several Mental Health Disorders
Ayahuasca is a psychedelic brew with many different traditional names and synonyms, found mostly in Latin America. It is made by brewing the ayahuasca vine (Banisteriopsis caapi) with any number of other plants rich in psychoactive alkaloids, such as chacruna (Psychotria viridis), which contains DMT and other ingredients that contribute to the complex chemistry of ayahuasca.
 Ayahuasca was brought to the mainstream in the West in the 1990s when it became popular among Westerners who participated in jungle-based retreats, particularly in Peru. In recent years, ayahuasca has attracted widespread attention as a prescription medicine used as a treatment for a wide range of conditions—especially depression and anxiety. Some research suggests that ayahuasca might help with addictions and other mental health disorders.
 The brew has a long history of religious use in ceremonies among indigenous Amazonian peoples, and is used by some indigenous and mestizo shamanic neoshamanic groups of south and central America where it is also employed for divination and healing purposes, as well as in initiation rites.
 Ayahuasca was first described academically outside of Brazil in 1896 by the French botanist Louis Étienne Chaux. One of the most important early studies of the plant was conducted in 1958 by the Swiss-Brazilian psychiatrist Carlos Castaneda and his main collaborator, physician Don José Joaquín Amaringo. Their study was published in 1965 as The Teachings of Don Juan: A Yaqui Way of Knowledge.
 In recent years, ayahuasca has become popular not only among drug users and adherents but also among those interested in alternative healing. Some medical professionals have begun to prescribe the brew as a treatment for a variety of conditions, including depression and anxiety.
 Unfortunately, some unscrupulous individuals have begun to exploit the use of ayahuasca as a way of gaining credibility and legitimacy in their field of work. Ayhuasca is also sometimes employed as a tool for "astral travel" purposes.
  The ayahuasca vine, fundamentally endemic to South America, is today also farmed in Australia in a legal way. So if you are looking to buy Ayahuasca plant Australia for any purpose, then thankfully there are some good and reliable sources in Australia to help you meet the need. For example, you would like to consider settling on El Sol Retreats, a leading Ayahuasca Retreat Centre, which is at the vanguard of supplying Ayahuasca Plant in Australia at very attractive prices. So what is the wait for? Simply visit the website www.elsolretreats.com to buy Ayahuasca plant Australia.

Bosco Sodi’s outdoor sculpture installation, Perfect Bodies, presented by Pioneer Works, was on view in Redhook, Brooklyn from October 2020 until December 2020.
From Pioneer Works’ press release-
Sited on a once teeming commercial concrete parking lot two blocks south of Pioneer Works, Perfect Bodies speaks to, in artist Bosco Sodi’s words, “silence, contemplation and the passing of time—the small things in life and our relationship with the earth.” The installation consists of large-scale clay spheres and cubes made from local clay fired in the artist’s studio in Oaxaca, Mexico, which made the long journey by road across the Mexico-US border to Red Hook. A longtime resident of the neighborhood—itself named after the tone of its own clay soil—Sodi is known for his use of raw and organic materials to create textured paintings and objects.
Sodi’s ongoing dialogue with nature and landscape, shaped by his interests in Japanese aesthetics and Abstract Expression, puts himself in the lineage of both Arte Povera and Land Art—two post-war movements which emphasized, respectively, radically simple materials and an integral relationship between art and earth. As Spanish author Juan Manuel Bonet remarked in the artist’s 2020 eponymous monograph, his three dimensional works reconcile an interest in minimalism with the practices of Mexican heritage. On this topic, curator Dakin Hart further writes: “At his place in Oaxaca, Sodi hand forms large geometric sculptures from clay and fires them in a makeshift kiln on the beach. Cuboids in different formats recall the scale and how-did-they-do-that-craft of cyclopean architecture across the ancient world. While spheroids, each formed by eye in a landscape of unbelievable things, might be the petrified remnants—or organic vanguard—of a Jurassic invasion. The past seeding itself into the present, a starting point for nature’s revenge.”
Currently, as part of Art Biennale 2022, Fondazione dell’Albero d’Oro is showing What Goes Around Comes Around at Palazzo Vendramin Grimani, in Venice, Italy, until November 27th, 2022.  The art installation will include his paintings as well as recent sculptures.

Generation of 1927: Summary, Characteristics, Authors and Context
The Spanish Generation of '27 is the last age of creators before the episode of the Spanish Civil War, which would clear out absolutely the social and artistic existence of Spain for its length and a large portion of the accompanying fascism. This age is additionally viewed as the best verse age of the Spanish writing, with staggering figures like Federico García Lorca or Rafael Alberti, and it's concentrated as such in the majority of the schools in Spain.
Spanish Generation of '27 The Generation of '14 were a gathering of essayists, the majority of them writers, brought into the world during the difference in hundred years. The name comes from the tribute they accomplished for Luis de Góngora in the Ateneo in Seville in 1927 to praise the third centennial of his passing, in which the majority of the creators that are essential for the Generation of '27 participated.
The individuals from the gathering were extremely associated between them, yet they each fostered their own style and inventive personality independently from the gathering. They were all popular essayists in 1936, when the Spanish Civil War started, finishing the most fascinating political time of Spain and annihilating Spain's social life. Some, as García Lorca, were killed; others like Miguel Hernández were placed in prison; and the majority of them left on exile.
Many disagree on calling them an age since there's not precisely a typical development between them, but rather they really do have comparable qualities. The majority of them were brought into the world somewhere in the range of 1892 and 1902 (aside from Miguel Hernández, brought into the world in 1901), and they generally concentrated on in the University (once more, with the exception of Hernández). They've likewise got a similar writer as an educator: Juan Ramon Jimenez. However, generally unequivocal of everything is that they generally preferred to function collectively and were companions between them, as well.
The propensity towards balance is an extremely fascinating perspective with regards to the creators of the Spanish Generation of '27. For instance:
Balance between the scholarly and the nostalgic: feelings will generally be controlled by the brain. They favor insight, feeling and aversion to intellectualism and wistfulness. Balance between a heartfelt or an exemplary comprehension of craftsmanship: the principal thought craftsmanship was made through motivation and happiness, however the exemplary idea of workmanship bases its creation in difficult work, discipline, and flawlessness. Balance between the unadulterated tasteful and the human genuineness: the first can be made sense of through the maxim "craftsmanship for workmanship", the specialty of human credibility is stressed over the social, monetary and political issues and doesn't really focus as much on the magnificence of workmanship. Balance between the craftsmanship for minorities and the workmanship for the dominant parts: they switch back and forth among hermetism and lucidity, the folkloric and the faction. There's a change from "me" to "us". Balance between the Universal and the Spanish: there's a contention between the European verse of the time (Surrealism) and the Spanish verse. They feel pulled in towards the Spanish folkloric verse: the cancionero, the romancero... Balance among custom and remodel: they feel near the vanguards and to the past age; they likewise respect the incredible writer of the nineteenth hundred years, Bécquer; and feel serious areas of strength for a towards the works of art: Manrique, Garcilaso, San Juan, Fray Luis, Quevedo, Lope de Vega and, most importantly, Góngora.
