Most of the candidates for school board on my ballot are people who read in question sessions like candidate A believes that we should never ban books and candidate B beleives that school should notify parents of every single book their child checks out from the school library

Also some School board candidates believe that schools hide children's transgenderism from parents

Please for the sake of access to library materials and safety for trans kids in school vote in your School board elections

Even if you live in a super gerrymandered state where your vote may not matter in your district vote in your School board elections!

Perhaps a “hot take” but I feel like one of the biggest failures in getting young people to vote is framing it as a “right”. Because you have a lot of rights that don’t actually matter day you day: you have to right to refuse to board soldiers in your home.

If you want to express the importance of voting, you need to stop framing it as an option and start framing it as a democratic duty.

Remember this voting season: if you stop voting, you’re making it harder to enact change. If you view voting as choosing your enemy, and not your ally, it really opens up the kind of activism that works.

Sustained, loud, communal pressure on reasonable politicians makes real change, (more noticeable locally). If you’re fighting your politicians on whether the issue even exists you’re not going to get anywhere. Vote so you don’t make your community go hard-mode on their activism.

The only people who benefit when you don’t vote are Republican politicians and the corporations whose pockets they live in.

You know something I find interesting? Control of the senate is still up for grab days later, just like in 2020. And just like in 2020 we’re waiting to hear from Nevada and Georgia. Anyway I don’t think there’s any other portents of a new November 5th but I guess we will see.
