Hi, just curious, since you're a fluent French speaker, do you know any good books in French for someone at an intermediate level? Around B2 level? If you do then thanks!

Hi! I'm afraid I cannot help you there much because I barely read novels nowadays even though I used to be a much bigger reader as a teen and one of my very first summer job was at my local public library ^^; I just lost the habit to go to my local library and rent books or find anything that truly peak my interest... So, I'm not up to date on what is good, or popular or the authors to check out. Not to mention that -- I live in Quebec -- so the authors I might know might have regionalism in their books, especially if set in an everyday Quebec setting, so it isn't international French and could be confusing to newcomers. Heck, even native french-speakers oftentimes gets confused.

I could however advertise Hieroglyphs written by Tahlí Briones aka @wheeloffortune-design. She first wrote her book in French which got published and she translated it herself in English. So, you could read her French novel while having the English version on a e-reader as reference in case.

What you could also do that with a bunch of your favorite books if they have a French translation available. Popular series and popular authors get adapted. So, at least you are familiar with the story and focus more on understanding the language and the new words you might encounter. That’s one way to do it.

You can also check any young adult literacy that match your favorite literary genre. Or check literary contest winners or nominees such as for Le Prix littéraire des Collégiens which is a contest in which college grad students vote for their favorite book written by a French canadian author. (One of my favorite book, Nikolski by Nicolas Dickner won that contest and my French litterature professor at Cégep who put this book on his program was surprised on how unanimously it was received by his students at the time despite being a mandatory read for his class -- normally, no one like those).

Hey friends!

So... apparently a lot of you are just.... subscrib ing to that account where I am pretty much dead dead. So hello  ! Hi and welcome ! 

 I've been feeling the itch of wanting to write again. Maybe it's because I've been done with so many projects at the same time or it's been that beta reading I've been doing. But anyway, I'm trying my hand at that book again ! Neil Gaiman's style.

And you know what ? I already have to chapters written down in the spend of 2 hours of pomodoro method and I feel great about it :D   So, in the vein of @wheeloffortune-design that I admire greatly, I will try to post book content on there once a week. Because they’re a true inspiration with all of that.

i was sad so i read all your comics and it made me feel better, but now i'm trying to read fic and i can just imagine aziraphale and crowley as you draw them. i even googled a pic of the actors to get their faces right but no, your two dumbos are back, acting the fic. which fits because they're being very dumb in the story.

Thanks! I just got a fabric grab-bag in and it was the color that best suited the green on the rest of the bike.

Yeah, it took a number of tries to get it started -- the directions weren’t the clearest in the manual, and there turned out to be a doohickey I needed to lower that’s part of the machine -- so I feel you for sure.

I’m very proud of myself :D There’s stuff I should have done a little differently, mainly hemming the sides AFTER attaching them to the top -- but it all worked out in the end, at least.

put a trigger warning on your bike seat, mine got stolen yesterday! (i'm joking. it's a beautiful seat. mine still got stolen through)

Aw, sucks! The seat or the entire bike? It almost feels worse when it’s just one part because the odds of someone stealing it because they needed it as opposed to just be A Little Shit are pretty low.

oh I love that! nice fabric choice. you might need to cover it if you ever leave the bike outside, personally I use a shower cap for this...

Well, the nice thing is it’s easily removable, so even if it does get wet I can take it off and wash it pretty easily. I try not to store my bike outside if I can help it, but one never knows when a summer shower will hit...

So, what is actually going on? I missed the start of this discussion. Are you doing an expansion, with the benefit of all your years of writing, or will this eventually end up original fic, with none of the HP trappings?

I’m turning it into an original novel -- there will still be probably a lot of HP-style trappings in terms of it still being about a magical world (I’ve changed the term from “wizarding world” to “Court” -- there aren’t wizards and muggles, there’s just Court and unCourt, and muggleborns are “born unCourt”). But yeah, eventually everyone will be renamed, I’m just still using the original names right now to keep things clear.
