Did you write a winter iron story? Did I imagine this in a fever dream? I can’t seem to find it on AO3. I was wondering if maybe the private collection error might’ve happened to it?

I did in fact write a Winteriron story! It's Tony Stark and the Mysterious Marksman, an ~18k story set in Marvel Noir, for the 2017 Cap RBB for Wren's art. As far as I know, the private collection error hasn't happened to it -- the only collection it's in is the RBB collection, which is public.

(Also, I've been told that the private collection error doesn't happen anymore? I can't personally attest to this, but I think what I heard is that you will now be notified if a collection your fic is in goes private.)

I am also currently writing a Winteriron story for last year's Marvel Trumps Hate. It's a canon-divergent AU set in 1966 where I've smashed together the actual events of Avengers and Tales of Suspense at that time with the events of Winter Soldier: The Bitter March, a 2014 miniseries in which the Winter Soldier gets his memory back on a 1966 mission and nearly gets away from his handlers. So it's an AU where he does get away, makes it to the States, and would like to defect to the West and join the Avengers (at the time, the Kooky Quartet). It's very Cold War.

So it's Bucky/Tony, featuring double identity porn, because Bucky has Done Some Bad Things and thinks it would be better if everyone thought he was dead, so he just walks around masked, as the Winter Soldier. No one knows who he really is. And of course no one knows Tony is Iron Man. And definitely no one is going to find out either of those things ever. Of course not.

Highlights of my WIP so far include: Tony repainting the star on Bucky's arm as a bonding experience, a party in which the Winter Soldier gets to meet Rick Jones and no one has any idea why the Winter Soldier is so very weird about this guy, and Steve in the background of this story quietly having a nervous breakdown because he's pretty sure the Winter Soldier is Bucky and he's also pretty sure Bucky is dead so he thinks he must be going insane. Also I think I gave all the best lines in this story to Clint.

Because I have no chill, it is currently 60,000 words and I am almost to the beginning of the identity reveals and Terrible Secrets. I thought I was going to finish it this month but that clearly isn't happening. But soon! Hopefully next month!

(Note to MCU fans: In 616, the Winter Soldier did not kill Tony's parents. Bucky has been forced to do a lot of things that he would prefer that no one else ever find out, but that's not one of the things he did. That's not where this is going. He has a different Terrible Secret.)

Thank you so much for this wonderful service. I'm looking for a fic I could have sworn I bookmarked it, but now I can't find it. It was an ABO 'verse in a historical setting with Steve as the A and Tony as the O. Tony was being sold/traded and was completely unfamiliar with Steve's nomadic culture so expected to be treated like crap, but it turns out Steve's people venerate O's. Weaving was a huge part of the story: A's wove and Steve is devastated/horrified when he finds Tony weaving.

Tack on "screaming insecurities" and that sounds about right for him.

Thanaton tripped over himself to fit his preconceptions of an "ideal Sith", constantly seeking approval from others because he feared deep down he'd never really escape his own past as a slave, so he overcompensated in his "Sithiness".

For awhile, I assumed "tradition" was just a tool he used to further his goals. And it was, but I think he genuinely believed in it, too, which makes it that much worse.

I do like how Mortis called him out on it.

I settled on a different take with Aruk now though. As I see it, the Sphere of Sith Philosophy is the spiritual cousin of Ancient Knowledge so I racked my brain trying to think up ways that would translate practically.

For plot purposes, I made it so that the Empire's propaganda machine, the Imperial Outreach Division, is jointly run by Sith Philosophy and Imperial Intelligence. Due to Jadus's persistant absence, Aruk usually holds more power in this and generates most if not all types of broadcasts, including those based in faith.

Similar to Jadus, he's low key and rather sinister but unlike Jadus he takes his role very seriously. Aruk is fairly absent himself during council meetings, but there's an unspoken understanding it's because he's actually doing his job. If he shows up, it's because something publicly catastrophic happened.

Step one: Have a dissertation project that you’re actually supposed to be working on.

Step two: Procrastinate by writing fanfiction.  You’ll be amazed how quickly you’ll be able to write something about two blorbos having feelings for each other!

Hidden Histories: Kyu Sakamoto, the last Asian soloist to reach No.1 on Billboard Hot 100 in 1963

We only had to wait 60 years for someone else from the region to reach the top spot.

"Ue o Muite Arukō" was written by lyricist Rokusuke Ei and composer Hachidai Nakamura. The song is kind of a bitter sweet metaphor for the emerging post World War II global expansion of Japan onto the world scene. Ei wrote the lyrics while walking home from participating in the 1960 Anpo protests against the U.S.-Japan Security Treaty, expressing his frustration and dejection at the failed efforts to stop the treaty.

In the West, it is best known as "Sukiyaki", the name of a Japanese hot-pot dish. The word has nothing to do with the song and was used because it was short, catchy and familiar to English speakers. A Newsweek columnist compared this to issuing "Moon River" in Japan under the title "Beef Stew".

Arrietty is so beautiful and well written and animated, with one of the most likable protagonists I've ever seen. It's one of Ghibli's most underrated.

What they lack is communication and driving force. They need to be kicked in their rumps, a forceful push as it were.

Aruktai and Otome are a couple that just... are. They cuddle. They show simple displays of affection. But they don't... define themselves as a relationship? I mean, they technically haven't fully kissed yet. The most probably Aruk giving Otome a kiss on the forehead.

Oh, no doubt they are dating. They never vocalize they are, though. Not even to each other. They got together because Otome confessed her love in a most hilarious way to him even though he already knew she liked him. He just never realized she couldn't tell his own love until that moment. They had a good long talk after about for how long or how dumb they were about how they went about this. But that just about it.

They need to talk more to each other instead of just letting be in the moment. They need to actually work on their relationship. A thing that came about with how 'let things blossom in time' kind of attitude Aruk takes and the fear Otome has of getting close to someone only to lose them. Like her parents.

So yeah, their relationship is... interesting. Hopefully this explains it well enough.
