Grim, if you haven't yet, what are your voice Headcanons for your OCs? You don't have to tell us if you don't wanna, I'm just wondering :)
YAY VOICE HC ASK!! Only issue is that we'd be here all day If I went over everyone (thats, atm, 127 zeti btw; of which im ASSUMING you're meaning my zeti ocs specifically of course) I have a good chunk of the more important ones, most of which I haven't presented here on my tumblr yet- so i'll just focus on those ones - Some are subject to change if I find better suited ones or something, not everyone is super solid - If you have any questions about names unfamiliar, just ask and I'll maybe show them! (If they have anything worth showing that is)! - i've also had most of these already written down for awhile- and i've gone over most of these with wet when i was also helping him figure out some of his own zeti's voices, some of which he helped me choose/decide for my own too (ty wet) - some are very on the nose i admit, be nice to me 😢 - i have too many characters 😭but this is always fun
----
Again we'd be here all day If I went over everyone, so im only going to include the more important ones Zenyx - A fairwise tie between Dillvveed/dillweedjpeg on Tiktok/Twitter (funny Rouge meme voice lady) and or Elizabeth Gillies (no one specific, though as Jade (Victorious) is never a bad choice) Zursie - Wendie Malick, specifically as Eda Clawthorne (Also being one of Zursie's general inspos) Zeph - Cissy Jones, specifically as Lilith Clawthorne (Same link as Zursie's bc the scenario dialog 0:00 - 0:50 is very them together actually) Zephyros - Christian Bale, specifically as Howl Zyre - Chris Sullivan, specifically as Hermes (0:16 - 1:10 is all you need) (Hadestown - Off Broadway / NYTW I think? this is the only video I could find with his version for some reason?) Zorin - George Clooney, specifically as Mr. Fox Zahra - Salma Hayek, specifically as Kitty SoftPaws Ziker (Zorin/Zahra's son) - Norman Reedus, specifically as Striker Zeever - Arin Hanson (Egoraptor / of GameGrumps) Zazmin - Elizabeth Maxwell, specifically as Urbosa (though shes alot softer) Zazel - Lisa Hannigan, specifically as Blue Diamond Zatheon - Keith David (No one specific actually, but Husk is a nice choice ithink) Zmodeus - (on the nose I know dont judge me) James Monroe Iglehart, specifically as Ozzie/Asmodeus Zeroz - Christopher Judge (mostly Kratos but really no one specific) Zweis - Colleen O’Shaughnessey, specifically as Pastry Cookie Zelos - Fryda Wolff, specifically as The Collector (also on the nose/inspo)
I'll never have someone solid for Zenyx (my main bby my bby bby gorl i love) probably tbh, but those two (dillvveed especially) are close enough for now This was fun!! tysm for asking 💞
Oh, and some Bonuses under the Cut;
Serene (Hedgepine), Astrid (Echid), and Eerie (Kitsune) currently do not have voice claims! - Dr. Hauntlillie (Hauntly) the Platypus - Tabitha St Germain, specifically as a mix between Princess Luna & Rarity Static - Dawn Michelle Benette, Specifically as Twizzly Gummy Cookie Misery the Octo - a tie between Pamela Adlon, Specifically as Vidia & Erica Lindbeck, specifically as Loona (leaning Loona) Brisk the Peregrine - Olivia Olson, specifically as Marceline Bouquet "Bou" the Skunk - Michaela Dietz, specifically as (later seasons) Amethyst Dessi the Opossum - Cherami Leigh, Specifically as Sonia Reilus the Ibex - Ryan Hakker (Lead vocal/singer of Poor Man's Poison (i think)) Mako the Great White- April Winchell, specifically as Sylvia thats all I have currently for my mobians specifically, but I also have 100+ of them too bc im a maniac 🤭

A Cyclone of Calamity: "Milo Murphy's Law" is An Exciting Sci-Fi Comedy
Tumblr media
Zack, Milo, and Melissa
What if someone creates a cyclone of calamity wherever they go? Milo Murphy's Law answers that question, with Milo always prepared for the unexpected and turning any disaster into an adventure!
Reprinted from The Geekiary, my History Hermann WordPress blog, and Wayback Machine. This was the twenty-sixth article I wrote for The Geekiary. This post was originally published on January 12, 2022.
Milo Murphy's Law is an animated comedic action-adventure animated series by Jeff "Swampy" Marsh and Dan Povenmire. Both also created the acclaimed musical comedy series, Phineas and Ferb, which ran for four seasons. Milo Murphy's Law is much more than a simple television series where anything that can go wrong will go wrong, i.e. murphy's law. It is Milo's world in more ways than one.
As a warning, this recommendation discusses some spoilers for Milo Murphy's Law.
Tumblr media
Milo Murphy's Law centers around three characters: Milo Murphy (voiced by "Weird Al" Yankovic), Melissa Chase (voiced by Sabrina Carpenter), and Zack Underwood (voiced by Mekai Curtis). It follows adventures of Milo and his best friends as misfortune follows him wherever they go. But, he remains upbeat, carrying a backpack which always has what he needs for any eventuality. We later meet his mom Brigette (voiced by Pamela Adlon), an architect, and his dad, Martin, who is a safety inspector.
The story is from Milo's perspective as he faces obstacles. This includes an arrogant student named Bradley (voiced by Vincent Martella) and a self-described safety czar named Elliot (voiced by Christian Slater). He gives himself the mission to stop Milo no matter what, although often he is far from successful.
The series begins as a comedy almost from the get-go with physical slapstick humor. Zack, a new kid who once was part of a boy band known as the Lumberzacks, soon becomes Milo's best friend. He joins Melissa, a long-time friend of Milo, whose father, Richard, works as a firefighter. He later learns just roll with it and be for Milo when he needs help.
This differentiates it from Phineas and Ferb, which set in the same town. In that show, Phineas and Ferb engage in a grand new project every day of the summer. Milo, on the other hand, causes calamities everywhere he goes, using a backpack his babysitter, Veronica, gave him.
Milo's dog, Diogee (voiced by Dee Bradley Baker) plays an important part in his adventures. Although Milo tells him to go home, a running gag throughout the show, he helps Milo when he or his friends are in a tight spot.
A funny plotline is continual speculation whether or not a teacher with a Romanian accent, Kyle Drako (voiced by Michael Culross) is a vampire. One of Milo's classmates, Chad Van Coff (voiced by Django Marsh) is completely convinced that Drako is a vampire, but it is never said whether Chad is right. It is up the audience to decide it for themselves. There are also funny jokes about plot holes and flashbacks throughout the show.
The show divides itself between Milo's time at Middleton Middle School, the town of Danville (above ground and underground), and the wider world. This includes adventures through time itself! This isn't immediately evident from the beginning of season 1. It becomes more of a plot point when four agents from the Bureau of Time (Vinnie Dakota, Balthazar Cavendish, Savannah, and Brick) become recurring characters in the series.
The first two, voiced by Dan and Marsh, are time travelers tasked with stopping the pistachio from becoming extinct. The latter two, voiced by Ming-Na Wen and Brett Dalton, are secret agents also from the future who travel in a time-traveling limousine. Mark Hamill plays the annoyed superior of Dakota and Cavendish, Mr. Block. Time travel plays an important part in this series, often as a subplot, so much that both agents are later banned from time travel altogether.
Other agents consider the two bumbling agents, Dakota and Cavendish, a joke. They prove themselves when they end up saving the world from mutant pistachios, known as Pistachions, with Milo's help. Of course, they don't get credit for this, as their boss doesn't remember this due to the altering of the timeline and still talks down to them.
As a person who likes time travel in fiction, and a long-time fan of Futurama, this pulled me further into the series. Dakota and Cavendish are both from "the 70s". Dakota dresses in a 1970s track suit while Cavendish dresses like a person from the 1870s. Some fans have even shipped both characters together based on their interactions during the show, as they act as best buds in the show itself.
Unfortunately, the series doesn't include any outward LGBTQ characters. Even so, Swampy said that "some characters" in Milo Murphy's Law and Phineas and Ferb are part of the LGBTQ community but he did not specify which characters. This inspired some to make fan art. Additionally, there are over 380 fics on Archive of Our Own which ship Cavendish and Dakota together as "Dakavendish."
Fans of Doctor Who would love this series. There is a whole sub-story focused around a sci-fi franchise known as Dr. Zone, based on Doctor Who. Milo and his sister Sara (voiced by Kate Micucci) are big fans. The creator of the franchise, Orton Mahlson (voiced by Jemaine Clement) is even inspired by Dakota and Cavendish. His sidekick, in the episodes is a Time Ape voiced by Sophie Winkleman.
Milo Murphy's Law has some diversity in its cast. This includes Zack, Nolan Mitchell, and Marcus Underwood, characters voiced by Black men. A Black woman also voices Eileen Underwood.
A Cuban-American actress named Chrissie Fit voices Amanda Lopez. She was originally planned to be a white character, but was changed at Disney's urging. The executives told Dan and Swampy to make the show more diverse. The show also includes actors of Malaysian, Chinese, and Jamaican descent, specifically Wen and Olivia Olson.
Amanda is perfectionist like Pearl in Steven Universe. She unexpectedly falls in love with Milo, who also likes her back. While they are never directly shown as in a romantic relationship, there are romantic feelings between the two of them. This is curious since Amanda likes order and Milo causes chaos everywhere he goes. They especially show how they feel about one another in the second season, with Amanda even getting jealous when other girls are nice to him, and giving him a kiss on the cheek in another episode.
The same is the case for Milo's dad, Martin (voiced by Diedrich Bader). He is a safety inspector but is affected by murphy's law as much as his son. It's as much an oxymoron as Homer Simpson being the safety inspector at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant in The Simpsons. In the latter case, the building becomes unsafe the second he leaves the building.
Tumblr media
Milo responds to Amanda's request to dance
Milo and Amanda are the not the only ones to express romantic feelings toward each other. There is a slow-burn romance between Melissa and Zack, and Sara has a crush on Neal, who works at a comic shop. Maulik Pancholy, an actor of Indian descent, voices the latter character.
Pancholy also voices a recurring character in Phineas and Ferb, Baljeet. Both shows merge together at the beginning of season 2 after a crossover episode, where characters from each show work to defeat the Pistachions. Prof. Doofenshmirtz, Perry the Platypus (i.e. "Agent P"), Major Monogram, and Carl appear as recurring characters in Milo Murphy's Law. As a result of the crossover, Doof crashes at Milo's house until he gets kicked out for being a nuisance.
Even Vanessa Doofenshmirtz, voiced by Olivia Olson, reappears in one episode. Voicing Vanessa was Olson's first major animated role before she voiced Marceline the Vampire Queen in Adventure Time. In fact, this role was one of the reasons that Pendleton Ward, the Adventure Time creator, brought her in to voice Marceline in the first place! If there had been no Vanessa, there wouldn't have been no Marceline, at least not as we know her today.
Events in Milo Murphy's Law and Phineas and Ferb also connect them together. For instance, Melissa is afraid of rollercoasters because of scheme by Phineas and Ferb. There are many other background details and events similar to both series.
By the show's second season, Swampy and Dan voice at least seven characters together. Other characters are voiced by talented actors like Greg Cipes, Alyson Stoner, Mackenzie Phillips, Sarah Chalke, and Larine Newman.
In the last half Milo Murphy's Law's second season new villains appear: a group of aliens known as Octalians. Milo's negative probability ions interest them and they try to capture him, hoping to save their planet from destruction. Joanna Hausmann, Odessa Adlon (Pamela Adlon's daughter), Brock Powell, John Ross Bowie, Cedric Yarbrough, and many others, voice these aliens.
Like many Disney shows aimed at children, music fills the episodes of Milo Murphy's Law. There are over 60 songs in seasons 1 and 2, along with 25 songlets. This pales in comparison to Phineas and Ferb, which almost has a musical number in every single episode. Even so, its catchy opening theme gets you in the mood to watch every episode.
The music accompanies the wonderful animation and background art of the series. It's not as detailed as a series like Arcane, but it is strong enough to move the story forward. It keeps you inside of Milo's world for each 22 minute episode, usually divided into two segments. The show also doesn't try to take itself too seriously, poking at the construction of animated shows throughout its run.
Some episodes criticize Silicon Valley tycoons and brainless consumers. Others have futuristic devices and robots. There are more fundamental themes in the series, such as the importance of family, self-acceptance, and identity. Some focus on the weight of adult responsibilities, which Prof. Doofenshmirtz called "adulting," while others focus on themes such as historic preservation, environmental protection, and automation.
While the last episode of Milo Murphy's Law aired on May 18, 2019, strong viewings of the show raise the possibility of the third season. There is a strong audience demand for the series and Dan has said that the show's success might "justify a couple of specials."
In the end, if you want to watch a show that will make you laugh with its absurdity and wacky storylines, then give Milo Murphy's Law a watch on Disney+. While you are at it, you can watch Swampy and Dan's first series, Phineas and Ferb, on the same streaming platform.

Night Court Did a Trans Episode, But Let’s Talk About This Episode Instead
“Bull Gets a Kid” (November 8, 1984)
For our second look at Night Court, we opted not for the so-so trans episode “Best of Friends,” which doesn’t really improve on the “my buddy is in town and it turns out is trans” plotline done so well by The Jeffersons. Instead, we are looking at a non-gay, non-trans episode guest starring Bobby Hill herself, Pamela Adlon, as a young girl who pretends to be a boy. There’s actually a lot going on here about gender norms that makes for a more interesting talk than if we have done the explicitly trans episode, we say. Markie Post, we’ll get to you one day.
Listen to our previous Night Court epsiode. Also watch the "full cast" opening credits to Night Court, made for the GEE TV episode.

pretty sure the previous anon was talking about which voice actor would suit ng best
I would LOVE it if it were Ashley Eckstein (who most famously voiced Ahsoka on Clone Wars) -- I LOVE HER
but other great options include Grey DeLisle-Griffin, Elizabeth Daily, Lucy Liu, and Pamela Adlon

BLOGTOBER 10/8/2022: HELLRAISER (2022)
Tumblr media
I think this movie is shining a light on the difference between how horror fans judge modern movies versus older ones, and perhaps especially versus the films of their childhood. I feel like I'm seeing a lot of responses from viewers who were immediately hung up on the glibly-deployed elements of addiction and recovery in HELLRAISER 2022, and so found themselves unable to engage with anything else in the movie. Personally…I just didn't take it so personally, and it occurred to me that I've never heard anyone complain about the ludicrous portrayal of mental illness and autism in HELLRAISER II, or the specter of incest that haunts HELLRAISER '87, and I could easily branch out into other much-adored movies that are not too socially-just, but that remain cozily swaddled in nostalgia, loved and forgiven. Maybe there's a feeling that newer movies should know better, coming as they do from an enlightened era of being fully informed about the suffering of others via the educational power of the internet, and therefore taking everything as seriously as possible. Maybe that makes modern viewers feel like it's too late to correlate the scourge of addiction with the quest for experience sought through the lament configuration. I mean, everybody has a right to their reactions and I think it's culturally healthy for even a really great work of art to take a few slings and arrows, to keep us all off autopilot. But I think that holding the human grist in HELLRAISER to the standards of neorealist drama is sort of missing the point of a movie like this—which is, of course, the cenobites.
Tumblr media
And the cenobites are great! Director David Bruckner gives good monster yet again, having delivered a fabulous beast in 2017's THE RITUAL, and true to the spirit of 2020's THE NIGHT HOUSE, he shows a refined understanding of infernal geometry. David S. Goyer joins the screenwriters of the latter movie, Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski, to set up a plot about a rich pervert (Goran Visnjic) who has a typically disappointing transaction with the cenobites, and so he manipulates a group of young dirtbags into helping him negotiate a new deal. I guess there are never enough survivors of cenobite commerce for word to get around that they only offer a monkey's paw type of thing, but I don't really care if the characters make a lot of dumb decisions so long as the tradeoff is always that I get to see cenobites.
Tumblr media
The story centers on recovering addict Riley (Odessa A'zion, who I just have to mention is one of Pamela Adlon's kids!) who discovers the lament configuration during a robbery planned by her sleazy boyfriend Trevor (Drew Starkey). Riley's lapse of judgement allows the cenobites to make off with her brother (Brandon Flynn), and so Riley and her friends pursue the secrets of the puzzle box to try to save him. While HELLRAISER '22 has been described as a remake and a reboot and a reimagining in various quarters, David Bruckner has been clear that it's, like, just another Hellraiser story. There are a lot of books and comics and movies about all the different people who fall prey to the box's enticements, and it's totally reasonable to just make another one of those based on the series' abundantly flexible premise. Actually, while my husband and I were watching the movie, we started compulsively riffing on all the different things you could do: First we felt like Riley's misadventure with her unlucky friends was just like an episode of Search Party, which made us think about how funny it would be to introduce the lament configuration in other Bad People sitcoms like Seinfeld, or Curb Your Enthusiasm, or It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, and then before long we were imagining a whole season of The Rehearsal where Nathan Fielder tries to get a series of unfortunate rubes to open the box for him.
Tumblr media
What HELLRAISER '22 offers is not grand insights into human nature, but fun experiments with the basic conceit. The lament configuration is one of the greatest designs in horror to be sure, and yet somehow nobody has ever gone into detail about why it assumes so many shapes. I normally do NOT want a bunch of anal retentive rules and dry explanations added to my horror movies; I find that the less mysterious things are, the less emotionally effective they are. In this case, the coding of each of the box's configurations as representing a different human longing both honors the original lore, and adds complimentary flavors—and speaking of flavor, I'd love it if someone would realize my idea for a breakfast cereal with freeze-dried marshmallow configurations. But anyway, the love of design and its expressive capabilities is laced through the whole movie, from its inventive architecture, to its fabulous new cenobites. A lot of love went into crafting these things, and Jamie Clayton easily earns her place in the expanded scheme of things. Viewers who are too distracted by HELLRAISER '22's tangential references to the real-life horrors have my sympathy, because if you can watch around the corners of that issue, there is much to enjoy.

𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻𝗻𝘆 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘄𝗶𝗰𝗸: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗩𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗢𝗳 𝗗𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗚𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗔 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗱𝘆
Johnny Hardwick was a comedian, voice actor, writer, and producer who was best known for his role as Dale Gribble, the paranoid and eccentric exterminator on the animated sitcom King of the Hill. He voiced the character for the entire 13-season run of the show, from 1997 to 2010, and also worked as a writer, story editor, and producer. He won an Emmy Award in 1999 for outstanding animated program and was nominated twice more.
Johnny was born in Houston, Texas, in 1958. He graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in journalism and started his career as a stand-up comedian in Dallas and Austin. He was the first comic to appear on The Jon Stewart Show on MTV and was offered a sitcom deal by NBC, but it did not work out. He moved to Los Angeles and performed at The Improv, where he caught the attention of Greg Daniels, who was co-creating King of the Hill with Mike Judge.
Daniels hired Johnny as a writer for the show and also asked him to audition for the role of Dale Gribble, one of Hank Hill's best friends and neighbors. It was said that he based his voice on his father and his uncle, who were both from Texas. He also said he shared some traits with Dale, such as being a conspiracy theorist and a smoker. The animators reportedly drew Dale to look like him as well.
Dale Gribble was a fan-favorite character on King of the Hill, known for his hilarious and absurd theories about aliens, government plots, and his wife's affair with John Redcorn. He also had a passion for pest control and ran his own business called Dale's Dead Bug. He often clashed with Hank Hill, who was more rational and conservative, but they remained loyal friends.
Johnny said he loved working on King of the Hill because he did not have to wear makeup or memorize lines. He also enjoyed collaborating with the other writers and voice actors on the show, such as Kathy Najimy, Stephen Root, Pamela Adlon, and Lauren Tom. He said he felt like he was part of a family.
He continued to voice Dale in other media, such as video games and YouTube videos. He also appeared on reality shows such as Ace of Cakes and Boomer vs Zoomer. He was set to reprise his role in a revival of King of the Hill that was ordered by Hulu in January 2023.
He died at his home in Austin, The cause of his death is still unknown. He was pronounced dead at the scene and no foul play is suspected. His death was confirmed by the Austin medical examiner's office and reported by various news outlets. He is survived by his wife and two children.
Johnny Hardwick will be remembered by his fans and colleagues as a talented and funny person who brought joy to millions of people with his voice and humor. He was also praised for his contributions to King of the Hill, which is widely regarded as one of the best animated shows of all time. His voice gave life to one of the most iconic characters in animation history, and he will be truly missed.

KING OF THE HILL To Return for Hulu
The Hollywood Reporter:
Following years of rumors and speculation, King of the Hill is officially getting the reboot treatment at Hulu.
The Disney-backed streamer has handed out a straight-to-series order for a revival of the former Fox animated series from 20th Television Animation. Creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels are set to return and exec produce alongside showrunner Saladin Patterson (ABC’s The Wonder Years update) and original voice cast members Kathy Najimy, Stephen Root, Pamela Adlon, Johnny Hardwick and Lauren Tom. The reboot, which has been rumored for years, has been in the works since Judge and Daniels reunited with the King of the Hill cast in 2017 at Sketchfest in San Francisco for the 20th anniversary of the beloved comedy.
Gosh, between this and the Futurama reboot, Hulu is THE place for basically every adult-oriented cartoon you could want.
The million dollar question: Is Dale in Q-Anon?

Sick: When The World Was Upside Down
Tumblr media
Remember three years ago when the world was turned upside down because of a mysterious illness they called COVID-19? It’s something that I think most of us will remember for a long time to come. This is the premise of screenwriter Kevin Williamson’s new slasher movie, Sick. Parker and her bestie Miri decide to quarantine at her family’s lake house during the pandemic. They soon discover that they are being stalked by a killer and must fight to stay alive.   https://youtu.be/IlS90jL1EHQ THE GOOD If you were a teenager/young adult in the ’90s and 2000’s you're most likely familiar with Kevin Williamson’s work. Whether on the big screen or on TV, he is responsible for writing some of the most iconic horror movies and TV dramas of that era (Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, The Faculty, Dawson’s Creek, The Vampire Diaries). These were some of my favorite movies/shows so anything Williamson is a part of I’ll likely watch. He does a good job of bringing out the terror his characters are feeling and his stories are believable. His stories, although far-fetched, can actually happen. They’re not supernatural or zombie killers like Freddy Krueger or Jason Voorhies. There are people that are so out there that it’s possible for one of them to go nuts and do some crazy shit. The acting in general I thought was really good. Gideon Adlon plays Parker. She was also in The Craft: Legacy back in 2020 which got some bad reviews but I actually liked it. She’s excellent in this and I see her doing some more things in the horror genre and I’m here for it.  I also found out that she is the daughter of actress Pamela Adlon, who I love! THE BAD Not necessarily a bad thing but it was strange to see a movie centered around the start of the COVID pandemic three years later. It’s almost spooky how many memories it brought back about that time. Remember scrambling around to find toilet paper??     OVERALL If you’re a fan of Kevin Williamson and 90’s slashers like I am, you should definitely check this one out. Sick is currently streaming on Peacock with a premium subscription. Read the full article

It’s so hard to say goodbye to yesterday

2022 in Review: Series Finales, Graded!
By Team TVLine / December 21 2022, 7:00 AM PST
Year in Review
Best Worst TV Series Finales
Courtesy of AMC, NBC and Netflix
With over 100 shows having ended this year, we endured many, many tough goodbyes to some of our favorite comedies and dramas in 2022. But not every one of them was intended to be a farewell, and even those that were didn’t always hit the mark.
Below, TVLine has gathered more than a dozen planned series finales (with a few exceptions) that stood out — for better or for worse — from the past 12 months. Among our selections, you’ll find broadcast faves like NBC’s This Is Us and CBS’ Bull, CW superheroes and vampires, and critical darlings Better Call Saul and Better Things. We’ve also singled out the final hours of Atlanta, Dead to Me, The Walking Dead, Ozark and more — but is that a good thing? You’ll just have to read on to find out!
NOTE: THE FOLLOWING FINALES ARE NOT RANKED. Rather, the grades chosen reflect how each show did (or did not) stick the landing based on their respective runs. Also, as stated above, we did not grade every single series finale from 2022, but instead chose a select few series that ended on their own terms.
Scroll down to see which finales made their mark on Team TVLine, then share your opinions on the best (and worst) series sign-offs of 2022 by dropping a comment.

Ricky Gervais’ story about a grieving widower fumbling his way through life had all sorts of low and sad moments. But despite Tony’s occasional suicidal thoughts, anger and disinterest in society, his strong support system helped him turn it all around. The finale didn’t dare leave him fixed or even “happy,” however, Tony vowed to use Lisa’s life insurance money for good, helping those in need and making a difference where he can. Though he accepted the fact that he’ll always be grieving his late wife, he was also able to accept the fact that life goes on.

Though the TNT drama spent most of its final season treading water, it at least made a splash with its action-packed finale, which turned both Craig and Pope into casualties of nephew J’s byzantine plot to avenge his mother and run away with grandmonster Smurf’s fortune.

Donald Glover’s surreal FX comedy went out on an appropriately bonkers note, with Darius embarking on a mind-bending adventure while soaking in a sensory deprivation tank. Plus, Earn, Al and Van’s lunch at a Black-owned sushi restaurant turned into a life-and-death standoff. (If only they’d eaten at Popeyes, like Al wanted.) Was the whole episode a dream? Was the whole series? We can’t be sure, but we are sure we thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Breaking Bad had one of TV’s best series finales ever, so AMC’s prequel had big shoes to fill, but it exceeded our expectations with a note-perfect final episode. Jimmy McGill finally came clean with a stirring courtroom confession that doubled as a series-best performance from Bob Odenkirk, and Jimmy’s final scene with Kim, sharing a cigarette during a prison visit, was a perfectly bittersweet coda to their rocky romance. We’re filing this one away right up there with Breaking Bad on our all-time list.

What better way to say goodbye to an entire cast of characters than to host Sunny and Jeff’s second wedding? That’s exactly what Pamela Adlon’s Sam did in the critically acclaimed comedy’s final installment. With the series’ many recurring folks gathered together, Better Things served up plenty of its signature food porn, boisterous laughs, last words from Sam’s circle and a cheery sing-a-along that reminded us to “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life.” A fitting farewell, indeed.

As the Johnsons prepared to move from Sherman Oaks to a Black neighborhood, black-ish’s final episode was a survey of everything we loved about the ABC comedy. We got wry racial humor. We got an unexpected cameo (hi, Olympic gymnast Simone Biles!). And we got an exuberant homegoing ceremony that honored everything the show had been over the course of its eight seasons.

The CBS series capped its six-season run with a two-parter in which Bull & Co. learned that a client not only was guilty of the crime at hand (purposely poisoning tenants with carbon monoxide), but that he did so in the name of covering up a PAST murder! In the end, Bull sacrificed his courtroom privileges by blurting out enough to trigger a mistrial, after which he protected TAC by bidding the team adieu and leaving savvy Marissa in charge. Justice was aptly served.

Grade CMel, Maggie and Kaela’s battle against Inara, one third of the “first sisterhood” of Charmed Ones, was an appropriately climactic way to end the series, even if the final episode of Season 4 wasn’t meant to be a definitive ending. And while a large portion of the fandom rolled its eyes when the sisters were transported to Halliwell Manor (aka the sisters’ home from the original series) at the end of the hour, you’ve got to hand it to the reboot for taking one last big swing.

The final episode of TNT’s wildly campy dark comedy featured sassy one-liners, big explosions and an elaborately faked death. In other words: Claws be Clawin’. It did take some of the fun out of the finale when Niecy Nash’s Desna disappeared for large portions of the running time — a side effect of the COVID pandemic, apparently — but it warmed our hearts to see Desna and her nail crew reunited and partying it up in Cuba as the credits rolled.

Having the luxury of knowing that renewal was iffy, showrunner Geoff Johns assembled a Season 3/ series finale that picked up after the massive Ultra-Humanite reveal and then launched into an epic junkyard fight scene. The 10 minutes or so that followed was a bit clunky, checking off so, so many boxes in the name of closure, but the “Ten Years Later” flashforward that saw Richard Swift educating a tour group on the JSA’s legendary exploits, before Jay Garrick’s Flash sped onto the scene with urgent news, capped the hour with all kinds of thrills.

The Christina Applegate-Linda Cardellini Netflix dramedy bowed out with the perfect blend of hijinks and heart, all while cementing its status as one of TV’s most entertaining depictions of female friendship. We weren’t even annoyed by the ambiguity-saturated cliffhanger ending, which for a show that unapologetically trafficked in laughably improbable twists, felt perfectly on brand.

Grade CAs much as we appreciated seeing Steven again, his long-overdue return didn’t get nearly the amount of screen time it deserved. Instead, the reboot’s final hour focused on far less interesting storylines, from Alexis’ new husband being lost in the woods to Fallon fighting for control of her company for the millionth time. For a primetime soap known for being over the top, we were hoping it would go out with a bigger bang.

To have gotten another three seasons of this sci-fi saga after its Syfy cancellation was glorious. And yet the series finale could not help be as bittersweet as it was satisfying — especially with more James S. A. Corey books left to adapt! The Prime Video series’ final hour delivered nifty space battles and stratagem, but also quieter, weightier moments, such as the “last family meal” pictured above. The Belters et al took the fight to Marco and won; Naomi made a gut-wrenching decision along the way, but we saw that an overdue epiphany in fact saved Filip’s life; and Holden and Drummer teamed up for a crowd-pleasing, presidential bait-and-switch. What fury might the awakened Ring eventually bring? We are left to wonder, but thankful that we got as much of The Expanse as we did.

Despite it occasionally feeling a tad rushed and overstuffed, the Paramount+ legal drama’s sendoff gave us everything we loved about The Good Wife spinoff: suspense, cheekiness and moral/ethical complexity. It also delivered one satisfying emotional payoff after another, delivered by one of TV’s most underrated ensembles.

The Netflix comedy delivered a satisfying ending that saw its titular duo, who were at odds this season, finally resolve their frivolous feud and realize how much they loved and needed each other. Plus, after seven seasons of waiting, we finally got the 9 to 5 reunion we’ve been asking for when Dolly Parton showed up as a guardian angel in heaven who helps Grace and Frankie return to Earth together.

The final chapter of BBC America’s blood-soaked thriller did deliver some long-awaited moments, like Eve and Villanelle finally acting on their feelings during an impromptu road trip. (Them singing along to “Don’t You Want Me” was perfect, no notes.) But yeah, that ending… Villanelle was shot dead by a sniper in the final minutes, tainting the one moment of true happiness she and Eve got to enjoy in the whole series. Yes, this is Killing Eve, so we shouldn’t be surprised someone died, but the last-minute offing of Villanelle just felt like a heartless rug-yanking for fans who faithfully followed the show for four seasons, not to mention yet another slap in the face to LGBTQ viewers hoping to see a romance that doesn’t end in death for once. Ah well… we’ll always have that road trip, at least.

For a franchise that’s nearly as old as The CW itself, there’s no question that Legacies deserved a more epic series finale. Still, we commend the Powers That Be for securing long-overdue appearances from Joseph Morgan and Candice King, without which the show’s final hour wouldn’t have packed such an emotional punch. The only silver lining? We all know this isn’t really the end.

This particular grade would be a little higher if Love, Victor had ended about three minutes sooner than it actually did: Most of the characters on Hulu’s coming-of-age series had reached optimistic endings, and Victor seemed genuinely content to be romantically unattached for the first time in months. But just as we were cheering the show’s decision to leave its teen protagonist single, on-again-off-again love interest Benji returned for a last-minute Ferris wheel ride with Victor. Instead of resonating as the romantic reunion of two soulmates, Benji and Victor’s eventual “on again” status rang more as a disappointing regression for both of them — and a waste of Victor’s newfound self-love.

We’re still on the fence about what most irked us about the Netflix thriller’s predictably frustrating climax: That the much-ballyhooed flash-forward car accident turned out to be the lowest form of red herring, or the contrived final scene that saw one of the series’ few redeeming characters implausibly murdering an innocent man.

The OWN family drama closed out its seventh and final season with some answers (Hollywood won his school board election, but Charley is not headed to Congress), some big wins (Vi’s pies are a hit and she’s fostering a 10-year-old girl), a last bit of Micah drama, a couple of fan-servicey cameos (hey, Remy!) and a flurry of flashbacks in which the great Glynn Turman reprised his role as family patriarch Ernest Bordelon. There were some debatable turns (Nova decides to go all in with Calvin) along the way, but the land auction’s twist made us cheer, segueing into a beautiful montage of Ernest “watching over” near-future versions of his kin and their blossoming lives.

Two words: #Malex. Wedding. Michael and Alex’s romantic nuptials were the perfect way to celebrate this show’s four-season run, even if the writers still had plenty of ideas left in the tank. Getting to see Shiri Appleby (aka the OG Liz) rocking a Crashdown Cafe headband was also a nice touch.

We always appreciated the looney antics of Search Party‘s core four, but the series’ entire final season was chaotic, and not in a good way. In the final episode, Dory realized that she accidentally started a zombie apocalypse. We didn’t have that on our finale bingo card, nor was it the ending we ever would’ve wished for Dory, Elliott, Portia and Drew… even if loving to hate them was the whole point of the thing.

Maybe it’s that the NBC drama’s penultimate installment, “The Train,” was so damn good. Maybe it’s that we didn’t want to spend so much of our final hour with the Pearsons at a somber memorial service. But the show’s last episode, which chronicled Rebecca’s funeral and flashed back to a nondescript weekend afternoon in the family’s past, felt like a letdown after a really compelling final season.

Grade CMaybe it was asking for too much to want the long-running AMC drama’s ending to be as exciting as its beginning. But with only one major death (Rosita’s) and a bunch of resolutions that hardly qualified as revelations, the series’ sendoff was too ho-hum to be saved by even glimpses of a spinoff-bound Rick and Michonne.
