Daily Witch Tag!
I wanted one of these to do this week on Instagram but couldn't find a good one. So imma make my own.
Tumblr media
Day One: Post a photo of yourself in the place that you feel safe and write about what witchcraft helps you with!
Day Two: Post a photo of yourself with your main practice and describe it. (Ex: Green witches post a picture of you with your plants and talk about green witchery; Eclectic witches use your favorite or most recent practice)
Day Three: Use divination to find out out the answer to whatever you may be struggling with this moment, photograph the answer, and say what you think of it.
Day Four: What song currently makes your soul soar/ache? Use it to write a spell. Photograph your result.
Day Five: Witches are known for collecting outlier trinkets in nature. What is your favorite item to collect and why?
Day Six: Who is your favorite diety, how have they helped you, and why? If you don't have/believe in a diety, do all the same with whatever diety you you wish you worked with/existed.
Day Seven: Post a photo of the aesthetic of your town and write the folklore of it.
Day Eight: Do you have a familiar? Post them and tell us how you met and how you knew they were your familiar!
Day Nine: Spend time in/near the place you feel speaks to you and meditate there. Find one discarded object. Take the first one that catches your eye, photograph it, and use it in a spell.
Day Ten: Show us one thing you keep on your altar and tell us why it's important to keep there.
Day Eleven: What is one spell you did out of pure emotion, and regretted later on? Was there a lesson to be learned? Photograph anything you think fits this one.
Day Twelve: Which cultures witchcraft (other than your own) interests you the most? Why?
Day Thirteen: Record the building of a potion or charm. What is this going to do for you?
Day Fourteen: Post things that made you happy that day, and write an affirmation using them.
Happy witching! ~Delilah

and/or you post about:
🌼sigilmancy
🌼crystals
🌼herb/flower usage
🌼 altar magic (any kind of spellcrafting actually)

please don’t reblog if:
🥀you’re a radical feminist (TERF/SWERF/etc)
🥀you’re truscum
🥀you think witches have to be female or female-aligned
🥀general byf stuff (racism/homophobia/transphobia/etc)

a spice a day! today is cinnamon
*this is part of a personal associations thing i’m trying to do, so everything in here is the equivalent of UPG. it’s all musings -- i write down the properties i think an herb or spice might have based on my own experiences & perceptions, and then look up the traditional ones.
cinnamon goes well with apples, honey, and baked goods, so i'm thinking luck. i have childhood nostalgia about cinnamon because my grandma would make homemade applesauce with green apples from her tree, and she'd put in (or i'd add) a lot of cinnamon. iirc it was also one of the luxury spices back in the spice trade, so prosperity? but too much of it dry will choke you... so, moderation, and possibly it can be used to snuff things out or banish them (smother them). cinnamon candies are also hot and spicy, so it can be used as a substitute for chili powder, maybe. something like that.
traditional associations: fire, the sun, healing, love, lust, fertility, prosperity, success, happiness, protection, spirituality

Bakura, religious thoughts, and junk? Not really
But yes, really, in a way.
So for a long time, I've been nothing. Not nothing-nothing, but a religious nothing. A spiritual nothing. I have always loved imagery and symbolism and think about it a lot in my artwork, and indeed, since he's been in my life, Bakura plays a huge role in directing what kinds of imagery shows up in my artwork and what symbols have meaning to him, in the storyline of my work. It seems silly to make a years-long thesis in fanart, I suppose, but it's just something that has happened largely without my permission --- a now, four years later, I have things that show up in all my Bakura drawings, certain things that are borrowed, that have meanings all their own, that relate to him as a subject and would be meaningless outside of his presence in a work. He is his own mythology now.
THAT said, I'm incredibly grateful for this for several reasons, even if I'm nowhere near where I should be, etc. But.... before I got to this Bakura-mythology place in my own head, I had no direction. In my artwork, or in my spirituality and how I felt about paganism, which has always been in the back of my mind since I was a wee ex-exorcist, slumped on the floor of the suffocatingly small, perfect library in town with all the 1970s occult books.
It just seemed so hokey and "be nice and everyone will be nice back", because I had only properly heard of Wicca via the likes of second hand cool kid gossip and the likes of Silver Ravenwolf. I wanted it, but I couldn't get behind it. I've always been too vicious, too selfish, too insular. I've always felt the urge to power storms and had vivid waking-dreams about stepping onto thin air and walking, steadfast, into the clouds. I made elaborate plots to destroy people who had harmed me.
I was not a Wiccan. Definitely not. Still not.
Bakura is really important to me. He exists outside of time itself, but also completely in the present. He has his own mythology that he gathers around himself, and the world around him is his tool. For his magic, what he has will do --- a carving knife, a purchased plastic tree, a bundle of hair plucked from a hairbrush. He sees possibilities in everything around him. He is his own power source. He pushes himself for more, more, more.
Bakura realizes the folly of a static moral code. There's no right, there's no wrong: there's only "your side" and "my side", and it's obvious to him that whomever is most determined wins. He never denies that he's the villain to someone, but that just because he's considered evil by someone else, it doesn't (and shouldn't) change how he regards himself or his own actions.
Never let anyone, human or god, tell you what to do. Know in your soul what you want, and get it. Do not apologize unless you have violated the code that you have created for yourself.
That's what Bakura means to me, and weirdly...... has solved all my spiritual/religious questions, the ones that I've had for years and years? Wondering if I could ever be spiritual again, because religion has always meant obedience, and I can't ever be that. Him either.
