Yandere Young Justice Celebrating Christmas w/ Their Darling!Reader (platonic)

Christmas (along with other holidays) would become all the more important to the team as a whole once their darling has entered their lives. Especially if it’s their first Christmas with their darling or their darling is very much into the Christmas spirit. Either way everyone would want to make it as special as possible, something all of them can happily remember and fondly look back on. They’re going all out cause of course their darling deserves the best of the best after all.

The team would all be extremely overwhelmed when it came to gifts for their their darling. They each want to get the perfect one and also maybe one up each other a little or a lot *cough* Wally, Dick, and Artemis *cough* Each of the members would have their own means of trying to figure out what to get you. Whether it’s just plain asking you or spying on you even more than usual to get an idea of something.

M’gann would be one of the more confident ones in the present she got for you, she can get in your mind after all so therefore she would have the most knowledge of what you would want. And if she feels particularly generous she might share what you were most looking forward to or really wanting with the others. Dick and Wally are a few others who would be confident in their gifts for you only to second guess themselves last minute and go out of their way to get you more. A majority of them would end up getting you more than one gift, even if they had all already agreed on only gifting one present to you and each other. Like, sure everyone else went through with getting one gift for everyone but of course their precious darling had to be an exception.

Kaldur and Connor (especially if this is his first Christmas in general) would probably end up being the only ones to stick with the one gift rule. Speaking of rules, there would be ground rules for spending Christmas with their darling, as there are usually set rules amongst the team when concerning their darling at all but to say they actually go through with following them is debatable.

A one gift rule would have been one of the first ones brought up amongst the group, especially if it was their first Christmas with their darling. They wouldn’t want to overwhelm you with too much (especially when it came to you getting gifts for them) but then again they also want to spoil you with what all you deserve and make the most of the holly jolly day so of course some exceptions would be made. Whether that’s actually been communicated to the others or not is dependable on who we’re specifically talking about.

Another big rule made amongst the team would be ‘Absolutely and utterly no mistletoes for any reason!’ Whether they’re celebrating small with just you and each other or there’s a much bigger celebration going on with others (in particular with strangers or at least people the team aren’t familiar or acquainted with), any and all mistletoes in sight would be immediately dealt with. Wally would be speeding around the entire place pulling down and getting rid of whatever mistletoes he crosses paths with. God forbid anyone were to end up under a mistletoe with their darling, especially if said person purposely lured their darling under said mistletoe. All hell would break loose and hands are being thrown.

When it does come to decorating and preparing to spend Christmas with their darling the team has every intention of going all out. Although they would be torn between decorating everything before their darling can, just having it all be ready for them and overall surprising them or they also really look forward to decorating together with their darling and getting to spend even more time with them and have some good ol’ wholesome fun together.

It probably ends up with the team going all out putting lights and displays up, along with some knick-knacks here and there but they save decorating the Christmas tree for when you get there so you all can do that together like a happy family. To be honest it’s a pretty chaotic mess that they couldn’t be more appreciative of you not being there to bare witness to it. It would be their luck though that you end up walking right in on the mess they end up making in the process. No matter how organized and planned they were going into it that’s not exactly the result you’re greeted to. Like, sure it was all going good in the beginning but of course it had to get competitive. But eventually they’ll get it together, most definitely with your support and encouragement helping them along the way.

When it comes to decorating the Christmas tree, the team is all in silent agreement that they won’t mess this part up, especially since you’re there with them this time around. Everyone is trying to be as careful as possible, not only in handling all the ornaments, garland, and lights (+maybe the strings of popcorn depending) but also by not getting competitive and trying to make a game out of one upping each other for your attention or something of the sort like they usually do. And for the most part it goes well even with a few slight moments of showing off, particularly on Zatanna’s part. She was having a little too much fun using her powers on a few of the decorations, especially doing so to make you laugh or look on in awe.

Once everything else is taken care of and all the decorations are in their places it’s time to put the star or angel on the tree and they all want you to be the one to do so. Whether you’re tall enough to reach on your own or not, Connor would lift you up nonetheless to place the tree topper where it goes. After that’s done there’s a few silent moments of everyone proudly marveling at their handiwork and taking it all in.

After that would be going through all the baking and cooking that’ll be taking place. The decorating wouldn’t just stop at the Christmas tree, no there are still lots of cookies and what not to get to. If you thought the decorating and competitiveness before was a mess then you haven’t seen anything yet. There will be competitions to see who can create the best gingerbread house or who can decorate the cookies the best. Or who can make the most cookies/sweets. There will definitely be a challenge to see who could decorate the best cookie version of their darling, it’s probably the most serious any of them take a competition and everyone is involved in it. But no matter what everyone else were to do or make, if their darling were to go out of their way to decorate cookies that looked like all of them or something like that it would be the cutest/bestest thing in the whole world to each of them. There may even be some tearing up at the the whole thing but definitely lots of gushing over it and their darling.

There will most definitely be a sleepover on Christmas Eve just so it’s all the easier for them to be with you on Christmas Day. That way they can spend every waking moment with you from start to finish. Also, there’s no doubt that someone picked out matching outfits for everyone to where, whether they’re pajamas or ugly sweaters everyone is going to wear them and be happy about it (it may be a little forced depending on who came up with the idea but it’s the thought that counts, right). Now, if their darling was the one to have picked out matching outfits for everyone then it would be genuinely, willingly, and graciously accepted. The team will rock their new pajamas or sweaters all day long and we’ll after Christmas is over with.

When Christmas Day finally rolls around and it’s time to exchange/open up presents everyone is anxiously awaiting their darling’s reactions to their respective gifts. With all the worrying, second guessing and overthinking all the team members had been dealing with they completely hadn’t thought about the fact that they would also be receiving gifts from their darling. Given that a few, if not most, of the members had thrown the one gift rule out when it came to their darling it wouldn’t be a surprise if their darling felt bad for not getting more gifts for them after seeing all the ones they got, resulting in the others feeling guilty for making their darling feel bad. They would all vehemently reassure their darling that it was more than fine and that the amount of gifts wasn’t the point of celebrating or Christmas in general. In fact it was about being able to spend it with each other (mainly just their darling) and getting to make more memories together as a whole.

When I say that everyone on the team would absolutely cherish the ever loving hell out of whatever their darling got them, I mean it. No matter how small it is or what it is, as long as it came from their darling and they thought of the respective team member when they were getting it then that’s all that matters. If the gift were to have been homemade then you can bet your sweet lasagna that it will be treated with the utmost care and utterly adored. I will say though that if some gifts happened to be homemade and the rest were not then the ones who received the homemade gifts would be rubbing it in the others faces.

Of course there would be a snowball fight at some point. It would all start out as harmless fun but eventually get a little out of hand. Like every time before there will be a fight or competition started by one or a few of the team members and it’ll end up with Kaldur, M’gann or Zatanna taking their darling out of the cross fire and off to do something much more calm and relaxing like building a snowman or making snow angels while the others sort out their beef.

Okay, hearing it from my own mother hurts, a lot, the words just run through my head.

" But why? I thought I was being useful! I was efficient in the missions I took part in! I- "

" It's more about your behavior, but it's also about your efficiency, you're not being so efficient, and I heard you weren't doing so well, you're almost freaking out, so you're going to leave the team. You're lucky I'm talking about this with you here at home! Not in front of everyone! "

Leave, wait so I have to leave the team, or am I being removed? I don't understand that

" What...? "

I can feel the impatient look in his eyes

"I said you're leaving or I'll have to remove you! You almost fucked up the missions and I know it, I was told, all because you were tired? Really? You promised me you'd make it better! "

I tried, I really fucking tried, but I can't! I wanted to ask for help, I really did! But I can't, I want to but I can't

I wish I could explain this feeling to you, but I don't think you'd understand, Mom

"I really tried! I tried!"

The words came out louder than I imagined, I didn't want to shout, but I do!

"If you'd really tried, we wouldn't be here!

"That can't be the only reason for this! "

Okay, I think I've made her mad, she looks at me angrily, but with a mixture of shock and disgust, perhaps weariness.

"Look, you always wanted to be a hero! So I trained you, I made you my sidekick! And it was all right, I suggested you join that team! I always noticed that you were maybe a bit.... I can't explain it, but now they're complaining to me about your behavior! They want me to help you improve, but I don't want to risk it So I decided it was better for you to leave the team, so here we are! "

Hearing that is shocking, she'd rather I left than help me and spend time with me?

"You want me to leave so YOU don't get into trouble! But as I understand it, you're doing it to protect your reputation? Because if I do something wrong, it could end up being your fault?"

I answered her angrily, maybe I'm going crazy

"I'm going through difficult things! I've already tried to talk to you about it and you act like it's nothing!"

I continued, anger burning in me, she's doing this to me, why? It's not fair!

"I'm under pressure Y/N! I feel like I'm under the surface desperate to get out! Do you understand that? "

She answers me with a tearful tone, but I sense her manipulative tone, I understand her game

"Did you ignore everything I said? I'm going through the same thing! I- "

" You treat me like I'm the villain! It's not fair to me! I'm your mother and I only want to do what's best for you! For us! "

I stay silent, not because I've given up, but because I'm shocked by what she said

"Now you understand, right? Well, I'll tell you what, you'll leave the team and after that we'll do something together! After all, you'll deserve it, I know you don't want that, but understand Mom's side!"

I don't know how I feel right now

"Now I have to leave! Batman and I have to discuss the missions of your team - I mean, your ex-team! I'll be right back! "

Is she acting as if this hasn't happened?

I want to cry, maybe scream, but I don't know what to feel, but there's something burning inside me

She goes out the door and I'm left alone in the living room, I go upstairs to my room, open the door and look around

I feel tears coming down my face, I lose my balance and fall, why am I feeling like this? I stay on the floor crouched down crying, the tears fall to the floor like falling rain or a waterfall

I get up awkwardly and remember everything, my training, my friends, everything I've been through to be able to fulfill my dream, and now I'm crying like a whiny, humiliated baby.

I don't know what I am anymore, I wonder if I'm the only one who thinks that about me, thinks that I didn't try hard enough, do others think that too?

"I told you we should have put trackers on her! " Connor said to Robin, getting impatient.

" Stay calm Superboy, we'll find Y/N, no matter where she is! " Aqualad replied calmly

"I still don't understand what happened! Maybe she was kidnapped? " Zatanna asked

"There was no sign of it, maybe she ran away! " Robin replied thoughtfully

"Let's ask M/N! Maybe she has an idea of what happened!" Kid Flash confidently suggested

"It's a good idea Kid, but there's something wrong with Miss M/N! Maybe she's hiding something... " I said thinking, I'm not lying, Miss M/N was acting peculiar, she looked guilty, very guilty.

"I'll look at the cameras in Y/N's house! Come on " Robin took out his device and started trying to get into the cameras

" I've done it! Now we have a clue in our hands! "

We decided to watch the recording, we saw everything with audio, from the argument to the moment Y/N left the room through the window

You covered your mouth as the tv showed the dead body of Hex. Beastboy sucked on a juice box from behind you.

"Damn."

You whipped around, "Damn? That's it?'

He shrugged, "What should I say?"

You groaned and face palmed. He jumped in from behind the coach next to you. He tried wrapping an arm around you, but you pushed him off. His shoulders shrunk, and he looked away from you. You stood up and started pacing around, rambling.

"I can't believe it! Wow- He was murdered?"

"Found two High School boys, Victor Stone and son of Billionaire Bruce Wayne, Dick Grayson Wayne."

You paused, slowly looking towards the tv. "Vic? Grayson?"

You could hear Gar sip his drink, though it was clearly gone. You glared at him, as he just looked towards the tv as they continued to talk about Hex.

"Wow. What a shame, isn't it?" He crumbled up his juice box and threw it in the nearest trashcan.

"Yeah... A shame."

You got your stuff and had Gar drive you home. You just looked out the window the whole time, trying to avoid not only eye contact, but also conversation. Lucky you, he picked up on your discomfort and kept quiet. You told Gar thanks and went inside your home. When closing the door, you pulled out your phone, looking at your contacts.

"Hello? Can we meet up?"

You waited for the person to speak. When they told you they could meet you up at their house, you sighed and hung up. You got in your car and drove to their house, gripping onto the wheel. When reaching their house you had to speak into those speaker things to get in the gate.

"It's Y/n. Um- I'm expected-"

"Oh, yes of course Miss. L/n. Master is expecting you."

The gates opened wide and you slowly drove in, frowning at the huge mansion. You parked your car and went to the front door, knocking on the door.

"Y/n. You're earlier than I expected."

You pushed a hair back. "Yeah. I tend to do that lol."

Grayson let you in, as you looked in amazement at the house. It was literally so fucking huge. Beautiful paintings and chandeliers hung from the ceiling. You walked him as he led you to his room.

"Wow- Well, I mean I've seen better," you said as an afterthought.

Grayson rolled his eyes but closed the door, but not before looking both ways. He locked the door, and your eyebrow rose.

"Oh, Richard?"

"Hmm?"

You leaned on your arm, smiling, "I didn't know you felt this way.."

"What?" He chuckled, pushing you on the bed. "No, you've got it wrong. My dad.. He doesn't like you- well not you, but your mom? Something about an old fling or affair or something. I don't know."

"My MOM slept with Bruce Wayne? THE BRUCE WAYNE?" You were in utter shock. Richard covered your mouth, telling you to shush. You pushed your body towards Richard, "Maybe I can see with the Wayne kid?"

Richard rolled his eyes, as you started laughing, leaning back on the bed, dying of laughter.

"God, do you think she did it like that? How does that even start?"

"Man, if only I knew," He looked towards you, "Hey, you know Kori?"

"Uh- Yeah? She's always at my house lol," you chuckle, pretty sure she was at your house now.

"Well, um..." He scratched the back of his neck, causing you to gasp.

"OMG! Do you like her?"

"What- No? Isn't she a lesbian?"

"What?"

"Yeah- I thought you both were dating?"

"Oh no. I'm dating Ga- Actually... I'm not dating anyone."

"Oh yeah, I heard about that. Didn't you leave with Garfield? That's what Victor said."

"Vic?"

"Yeah. He got a text from Garfield, saying you were together cause you're s/o had been caught with having sex. You should of seen them when Victor read the text out loud. Oh- speaking of sex, did you and Garfield hook up?"

"What?!?" You're face went a bright red, "No-"

"That's not what Victor said Garfield said."

"What now? Why When I get my HANDS ON H-"

"AH! Caught you!"

You covered your mouth, "You set me up!"

"I can't believe you slept with Garfield."

You facepalmed, "In my defense, he's kind of hot..."

"I guess," Richard shrugged, but leaned inches away from your face, making you blush harder, "But I think I'm better." He fiddled with a piece of your hair.

"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah." He pushed you down, "But you'll never know."

You frowned laying on the bed, closing your eyes. What a strange thing. Here with a rich boy after having slept with a different boy? You groaned, hitting your face.

You spend a year learning how to use the zeta that Kaldur has in the basement of the house.

It’s from bits and piece you show so it surprises you when it pops onto the computer “Guest Access Granted.”

You zeta far away from the island into a state far from where you were.

You thought that would be that.

How wrong you were.

Kaldur had used this as a test and you failed.

Earlier into you capture he had placed a tracking spell from Zatanna onto you.

When learning you ran he easily found you. Sleeping on a park bench late at night.

You wake up back in the house. Bedroom door locked with only a glass of water and bread.

Back all those who don't come to me with a link from any Yandere! Kaldur thingie!!! ^///^. Feat. Aqualad, Robin (Dick), Superboy, Miss Martian, Kid Flash (Wally) and Artemis.

Note: English is not my language, so I hope you will be understanding of any flaws you find.

I don't go out much and my lines would be in another language, so I looked for lines I like on the internet.

Wally would totally turn it into a competition bonus points using geek or fan terms. He would be going hype of happiness, the situation could get a little overwhelming (normal overwhelming no their whelmthingies,again I'm not english that was lost in our translation)

"Do you like Star Wars? Because Yoda only one for me!" "Hey, tie your shoes! I don’t want you falling for anyone else." "I’d like to take you to the movies, but they don’t let you bring in your own snacks." "Are you a time traveler? Because I absolutely see you in my future."

Artemis would make you a Natasha Romanova comeback that would leave you mashed red flan on the floor and worse, she will pretend not to take you seriously even though she would be dELiGghTED! She must stay cool and stay with you but once she's alone, scream at the pillow.

(Not good examples because I'm not them) "Hi, I just wanted to thank you for the gift. (pause) I’ve been wearing this smile ever since you gave it to me." "If you were a taser, you’d be set to ‘stun.’" "Do you believe in love at first sight, or should I try walking by again?"

Megan didn't understand the reference, So you should be more direct, but as soon as someone will explain to her... You would find yourself involved in the most popular lines on the internet and literal martian translations that obviously lost their meaning but are hilarious (not that she's going to complain about seeing you laugh, even if she is a bit embarrassed)

"I’ve heard it said that kissing is the ‘language of love.’ Would you care to have a conversation with me about it sometime?" "In my opinion, there are three kinds of beautiful: Cute, pretty, and sexy. Somehow, you manage to be all three." "Your hand looks heavy—can I hold it for you?"

Kaldur have been taught a bit about the slang of the surface dwellers (by Aquaman even if it was joking and then listening Wally and Dick), ofc Kaldur would definitely catch those of the Little Mermaid because everyone will have teased him with it at some point. That you finally feel comfortable enough to start doing it will also make him very warm, happy. Bonus points water related because you're so cute trying connect with him.

"Is your name Ariel? Cause we Mermaid for each other" "Do you know what the Little Mermaid and I have in common? We both want to be part of your world." "Your eyes are like the ocean; I could swim in them all day."

With Conner, same with Kaldur but I think... you would have to be careful in your choices at the same time?? Because well, his relationship with Superman is tense at first, so the lines better not make reference to his appearance or he will be upset. And that would definitely not be pretty. And then he would stare at you like "wait, I shouldn't do that? But if they do, that's good, right? we're getting better" He would approach you with more confidence after that.

"If you let me borrow a kiss, I promise I’ll give it right back". "You know, I’m actually terrible at flirting. How about you try to pick me up instead?" "Do you have a name, or can I just call you ‘mine?’"

Dick. It would take Dick a second to process that you are finally responding to his affections and he wouldn't launch you into the air smiling narrowly just in case. Like Artemis, he would have an ingenious replica that would turn you into a lightbulb.

"If I were to ask you out on a date, would your answer be the same as the answer to this question?" "My friends bet me I couldn’t talk to the prettiest girl in the bar. Want to use their money to buy some drinks?" "Can I follow you where you’re going right now? Because my parents always told me to follow my dreams." "Did you know penguins stick to one partner their whole life? Would you like to be my penguin?"

— Your first meeting was… a little weird.

Not necessarily in a bad way. Just… in an unsure way.

While the rest of the team welcomed you with open arms, he was a bit… contained?

But he wasn’t really detached or cold towards you, either.

You just got the feeling that he was a bit underwhelmed from your arrival.

Miss Martian — or M’gann, as she insisted on you calling her — suggested the idea of taking you on a tour of Happy Harbor.

Everyone was on board with the idea, talking about how it would be a good way to get to know you while you got to know the area.

(Zatanna scoffed at how kidnapping new teammates seemed to be a common thing on this team, whatever that meant.)

Seeing as how excited everyone was, you couldn’t possibly turn down the offer.

So, next thing you knew, you were being ushered into this giant-ass ship thing; the bioship, as Robin called it.

This wasn’t what you really had in mind when M’gann said “tour.”

But, hey, it’s whatever.

After being strapped into your seat — and getting over the initial shock of the seat forming right in front of your eyes — the ship was airborne.

It was quiet for a few moments.

But then, much to your surprise, Kid Flash spoke up.

“So, (Hero/N). What’s it like being the protege of (Mentor/N)?”

You didn’t expect him to make small talk, since he didn’t seem too interested you.

Again, he was a bit “contained” when you introduced yourself.

Despite this, you answered the question to the best of your ability.

Before anyone else could chime, he asked another question.

“How’d you become (H/N) in the first place?”

Once again, you answered the question to the best of your ability.

“So, I’m assuming you live in (City/N)? Or at least near it? Since that’s where (M/N) lives, anyway.”

You were about to answer, but Artemis butt in.

“Lay off, Detective West.”

Robin cackled. “Yeah, man. This isn’t 20 Questions.”

You assured them that you were fine with him asking you things, and that the rest of them are free to ask whatever they wanted.

“You don’t have to answer what you do not feel like answering,” Aqualad — or Kaldur’ahm, rather — spoke up. “Your comfort is more important than our curiosity.”

He then turned towards Kid Flash. “And with that, I do find it interesting that Wally has taken the time to ask about you rather than talking about himself like he usually does.”

Another cackle came from Robin. You could see Artemis smirking as M’gann’s shoulders shook from her giggles.

Heck, even that Superboy dude seemed to find it funny.

“Maybe (H/N)’s just caught my interest,” Kid Flash shrugged with a humorous tone.

“Or maybe you’re trying to find out all their personal information like a scam caller,” Zatanna retorted.

Robin added on with, “what’s your home address? What’s your social security number?”

“Just making the newbie feel welcomed,” Kid Flash defended.

“Well, I feel very welcomed,” you chuckled. “And you can just call me (Y/N).”

A lopsided grin found its way on his face.

“In that case, call me Wally.”

— The questions didn’t stop after your tour.

To his credit, he didn’t bombard you with them.

But you didn’t know one guy could be so… curious.

Even so, you didn’t mind that the two of you ended up standing in the kitchen of the cave, him eating a bowl of pretzels as he inquired about you.

“You from (C/N)?”

“How far is that from here?”

“You go to the high school there?”

“Anyone else know about your alter ego?”

“What do you usually do outside of hero work? Y’know, as a hobby?”

Eventually, you decided to ask why he wanted to know so much about you.

The response was simply;

“Just wanna get to know you better.”

— He’s all about “getting to know you.”

If you tell the team about a ticket sale for an amusement park near your city, it’s guaranteed he’s down for it.

“It’d be a great opportunity to see you more outside of the cave, after all.”

If you mention some sort of school event happening, he’ll ask if he — the team, he corrects — can tag along.

“I’m curious to know how you act around school friends.”

If you even express the smallest interest in visiting a local restaurant or food shack, he’s inviting you to grab a bite with him.

“Just wanna know what you like to eat.”

During the first week or so of knowing him, this type of behavior wasn’t strange to you.

But now it’s been months.

And the way he refers to your friends and family is a bit unnerving, considering he’s never met them (minus a select few school friends, of course).

“Did (Friend/N) ever call you back?”

“Is (Family Member/N) still in town?”

“Has (Friend/N) been feeling better since last week?”

This guy even knows the names of your teachers.

“What’s up with (Teacher/N) giving you a hard time?”

And, just when you think he knows everything about you, he asks even more questions.

It was unbelievable how there was still more he was curious about.

“Just getting to know you.” “Wally, we’ve known each other for almost a year now.” “Still getting to know you.”

— The rest of the team is constantly on him for his behavior.

Kaldur tries his best to keep control of the conversation so Wally can’t bother you.

Robin keeps teasing him about his “crush,” despite Wally’s desperate attempts to explain the was just curious.

M’gann scolds him like a mom (“Wally, what did we say about interrogating?”).

Superboy — Conner, he finally told you — simply says, “you talk too much” to effectively shut him up.

Artemis slaps him on the back of his head or elbows him in the ribs.

Zatanna’s resorted to using silencing spells, since she “doesn’t feel like dealing with this.”

And Raquel fires Wally back the same question (“I don’t know, Wally. What’s your favorite color?”).

Because of your teammates working together, Wally started to minimally ask questions

They have a white board hanging up in the den.

“It’s been 8 days since the last question.”

“M’gann, reset the whiteboard.”

“It’s been 0 days since the last question.”

— Because of this, Wally has started to become more… distant… towards his teammates.

You’ve to notice how he’s started to retort with more snarky comments lately.

Or how he’s condescending towards certain ideas.

And you’ve definitely noticed that out of character blank expression that’s been taking vacancy on his face recently.

For once, you decided to ask your own question.

“Everything alright, Wally?”

He seems taken aback for a few moments, but takes on a nonchalant attitude.

“Just been tired. Finals are coming up.”

You decided not to press further, giving him your best wishes.

But, even after finals (he passed with flying colors, by the way), this type of attitude continued.

He even almost got into a full blown argument with Kaldur once.

So, you decided to ask again.

“I’ve been needing to catch up on sleep.”

You suggested that he took a break from the team, to which he only shrugged.

The conversation died off from there.

— He doesn’t seem to act this way towards you.

Robin pointed it out while you and Raquel were talking about the Wally issue.

“Actually, you’re right,” Raquel gasped. “He acts like nothing’s wrong around (Y/N).”

“Maybe it’s ‘cuz of his humongo crush,” Robin chortled.

Despite not believe Wally had a crush on you, they were right; he didn’t seem to act this way around you.

He’s still the laidback goofball the team said he was when you first joined.

But… why sass Aqualad for a “dumb order,” then comply when you ask him to do the same thing?

Why ignore Miss Martian’s call for backup, then rush in to help you the moment you seem the slightest bit distressed?

Why outright insult Conner for not knowing something, then calmly explain when you admit you don’t know either?

It was… weird.

That’s a common theme with Wally West.

Weird.

— He becomes super protective over you during missions.

And that’s especially after got slashed with one of Cheshire’s sais.

Everyone heard your grunt of pain through the mindlink, which prompted Aqualad to ask what your status was.

“(H/N), report. (H/N)?”

“I… I’m fine… just… damn, that hurt…!”

Your shaky chuckle that chimed through the mindlink, at least inform the team you were semi-okay, but Wally was already gone with a gust of wind.

“KF!! Hold your position!!”

But he was already weaving through the stories of the empty parking complex, sharp eyes scanning for you.

You were holding your hand against the gash when you saw something run into Cheshire within a blink of an eye.

“Stay away from them,” you barely heard Wally growl.

By the time Cheshire was back on her feet, Wally had already swept you up and was running out of the parking complex.

You ended up in the bioship, being sat down on a chair as Wally zipped away for a second and returned with a med kit.

He was completely silent as he treated your wound.

You nervously made a joke about the thick silence that settled in the bioship, to which Wally gave an off-handed apology for.

“Just trying to focus.”

Once he was done, he told you to stay in the bioship.

You tried to convince him you were fine, but he still managed to make you sit out through the entire mission.

Ever since then, he’s practically your guardian during fights.

Don’t get me wrong, he’s always been a bit protective over you during missions.

But now it’s multiplied by 10.

He’s always swooping in to take blows for you, or picking you up and taking you away from the fight over the smallest scratch, or observing your surroundings as if you can’t do that yourself.

— And let’s not forget how intimidating he’s gotten over the years.

He’s still the type of hero who cracks jokes and laughs during a mission, but there’s the added element of fear ever since he’s taken up guarding over you.

There’s that time the Joker had you cornered in an abandoned hospital.

The look of surprise in his eyes as Wally held him against the floor by his throat is still fresh in your mind to this day.

And that time Vertigo was trying to monologue about the terrible ways he was going to kill you.

It was cut short by the darkest glare you’ve ever seen Wally throw someone (even Vertigo started to shift uncomfortably).

And don’t get me started on any time you guys face Cheshire.

“Wally, I know she’s a bad guy, but she’s also my sister. What was THAT?!” “Just doing what heroes do and disarming the baddies. Geez.” “YOU DISLOCATED HER ELBOW.”

Anytime the Riddler sees a blur of yellow and red, he’s out of there (one concussion was enough).

Although you’re grateful he has your back, it’s been going overboard.

And the way he doesn’t show remorse for his actions is unsettling.

“Cold hearted,” Zatanna sighed.

You shook your head. “I wouldn’t say cold hearted. Just…”

Zatanna crooked an eyebrow. “Just?”

“… Weird.”

— He somehow forces you to retire with him.

You didn’t know how he managed it.

Actually, you did.

Manipulation.

He got into your head about how dangerous the line of work is.

“I mean, just look at what happened to Tula.”

Somehow, he convinced you that you were reckless and self-sacrificing during missions.

And, you’ll have to admit, there’s the slightest bit of truth behind that.

But everyone on that team would give their lives for each other. That’s why Tula did what she did.

Wally wasn’t up for a debate, though.

So, you were looped into his retirement.

Life with him is actually… nice.

There’s no strange behavior from him, and he seems like he’s on good terms whenever your former teammates drop by for a visit.

Except for Nightwing.

There’s some sort of tension between the two.

When you ask about it, he waves it off.

“Just letting him know we’re retired heroes.”

Turns out, Nightwing’s been asking if you guys wanted to mentor the team newbies for a while.

It just didn’t sit right with you that he was speaking on your behalf.

Other than that, things have been going well.

You moved in with Wally about a month or so after retiring.

He absolutely refuses having you return to the team for even a single mission, though.

Even though he’s done it in the past…

— After his apparent death, you’re left feeling empty.

He told you he was going to be back.

“Saving the world’s what I do.”

You tried to convince him to let you help, but he told you to stay in the Watchtower.

The feeling of anxiety was too much to bare, however.

So, you found yourself dawning your old hero costume.

Except, by the time you were ready for combat, Flash and Impulse returned with empty expressions.

They told you he sacrificed everything for the mission.

He sacrificed himself.

What you felt… well… it was complicated.

You felt empty, for one thing.

Like Wally was the noise in the halls that made a place feel alive.

And, in a literal sense, he was.

But now the house is quiet.

Wally was gone.

And then there’s frustration.

He was being reckless and self-sacrificing.

The very thing he pulled you out of hero work for.

How could he say that you were in danger of ending up like Tula when he does the same exact thing?

The hypocrisy angered you.

And finally, there was contentment.

It didn’t feel right to call it that, but you had no other words for it.

Of course Wally would do something like this. You said before that anyone on that team would give their lives for each other.

And that meant saving the world, whether you were retired or not.

But you just didn’t understand why you couldn’t be there by his side.

Maybe, if you were there, you could’ve prevented the outcome.

Maybe being there to have his back would’ve changed something in the mission.

Maybe he could’ve lived so he could be here today.

Your feelings were… weird.

Much like Wally himself.

After a little bit over a year, you decided to rejoin the team.

M’gann, Kaldur, Artemis, and Conner were thrilled to have you back.

But your jaded eyes told them this was an act of remorse.

They can’t ignore how irresponsible you’ve gotten during mission.

“You collected rust during retirement, (H/N),” Artemis joked, though you could sense the concern in her tone.

The newer members think you’re pretty cool.

But your focus is always on Bart.

He can barely look you in the eyes the first two weeks of your return.

You couldn’t find it in you to be mad at him.

Besides, it wasn’t his fault.

During missions, you find yourself being a bit protective over him.

You’ll always be by his side, like you’re drawn to him.

Maybe it’s the costume, or the humorous quips, or…

… Or the thought that you can save him by protecting Bart.

But you know that’s impossible.

Even so… you still can’t help but watch Bart’s back during missions.

You visit Wally’s memorial every day to tell him stories.

“I saw Dick on the news today. He seems like he’s doing well.”

“Artemis scolded one of the newbies again.”

“Bart keeps eating all of the snacks in the Watchtower.”

Every now and then, you wonder if it’s even worth talking to a hologram.

But it just felt right.

You needed to do this.

He would’ve wanted to know all about your life.

I made this a while ago that was supposed to follow a list of some ships the duo have on this blog. It’s mainly over possible relationships with canon characters from the game they’re based in. A lot are AU based because for a decent amount of them, they don’t have enough time with these characters to develop a relationship or it’s under certain circumstances it stands a chance.

Rune/Maya - Maya, at least by my writing, has a one-sided crush on Rune and he likes her well enough. She’s the main person at his side in the prologue and they can geek out over books and stuff. Only really happened in Librarian/Barista AU where Rune flirts with her via writings on her cups and leaving notes in books to be put away.

Tannim/Tomix - Tomix is one of the first people Tannim met on his venture on his own. And as the person that called Tannim out for ignoring his own well-being and the one that did a hard no on changing something so fundamental in his being...Tannim has so much respect for him. And he likes Tomix in his actual adventures, not just any shenanigans I do on the blog. The Tomix saga was so important, I wrecked my plans for book 3 because it was that important for Tannim to be present for that. There’s a reason why he put it as why he can’t sleep at night.

Rune/Zhoom - I am very wary to place them as a relationship. They have sassed each other and have grown to respect the other. Zhoom is Rune’s mentor as a ranger but good god, I’d be lying if they hadn’t blurred lines every so often. Both would easily say that the other’s attractive but neither are interested in anything serious. Friends with benefits on occasion but mainly a reliable hand for bounties and quests.

Tannim/Galanoth - Okay this is only due to a lot of talk with Syn over it. Galanoth slays dragons in more ways than one. It is definitely mainly for AU things such as arranged marriage AU and Tannim being tortured by the Rose then cared for by Gal AU. Pretty much, Galanoth gets all of Tannim’s sweet affection poured on him and Galanoth is just one of those ones that is Tannim’s type, even if he doesn’t know what that is.

Rune/Demento - They were a decent duo when it came to planning and dealing on the battlefield. In some aspects Demento’s the one that got away and even then we don’t know how they’d work out. But it’s a minor thing Rune feels a bit guilty for not taking Demento up on an offer the night before his death.

Tannim/Xan - Can be a ship but I wouldn’t mind if it stayed broship. Xan broke protocol when he saw how genuinely freaked out Tannim was by fire. He calmed him down and started Tannim’s conquering of his fear. Tannim was sent back during the Alexander saga and befriended Alex then. And since they oddly are friends despite being on opposite sides. He actually never advocates anything bad to come down on Xan, even if his fellow adventurers do not share the same sentiment.

Tannim/Serenity - Only in two circumstances: where Tannim was turned to a vampire (long story) and in the AU where Rune’s soul was obliterated in order to destroy the Mysterious Stranger. For the most part, I think it’d be a broship otherwise. But in the cases where they’re together, they’d be like...everyone’s parents. Together. Oh god.

Rune/Lugosi - It was a crack ship that was logical. It was totally some anon’s fault too. I challenged to give me any character with mine and I could make a legitimate thing from it. And I didn’t dislike this one? Lugosi had a crush on Rune when he went by Noita and only fell back into the crush meeting Rune. Rune wasn’t interested because well, he’s not that into smithing and he can only tolerate cowardice. Because Rune tells him pretty much to work on himself first, Lugosi tried. Then he got turned and his acceptance and conquering of his turning (with Safiria’s encouragement) got Rune’s attention.

Rune/Sepulchure - Please let them remain in a blackrom so that they never conquer the world. They don’t inherently dislike each other. They dislike one getting a leg up over them but are rather impressed with the other’s prowess. Based on relations, they have met prior to Book 1. Rune’s grandfather was Valen’s mentor and cared for the kid. So while it was only as many visits as you can count on your hands, they were fin. It’s mainly AU stuff such as Rune having an affair with Sepulchure during the events of the Orb Saga or where Tannim was a traitor out to take all of Greengaurd for himself that they’ve happened.

Tannim/Sepulchure - There’s a certain OT3 with Serenity that came apart because of SOMEONE’S suggestion. It spiraled out of control quickly. There’s also the rare AUs where Tannim took more after his father’s side of the family and in a ‘rivalry’ with Sepulchure. Like more chill than yandere but definitely wants to maintain Seppy’s attention. And also...others...I blame Syn for the sin behind that one.

Amal/Drakath - Because I feel like Rune would NEVER be a decent pair with Drakath...but with ONE AU this came about. Pretty much in a scenario where Rune and his brother grew up and was friends with Drakath. Amal is somewhat aware of his feelings but Drakath is playing dumb and denying it to the end. And Amal’s just unapologetically a shit to Drakath but does ultimately care about him. He lies to his friends and allies and makes up various excuses just to get Drakath through. And then he just sometimes just hangs out at the bandit camp just because he can hang out with Drakath.

Rune/Circe - Canonically, they kinda dislike each other. I mean, almost killing you with an avalanche tends to put a damper on any relationship. However at the same time, I think they would have been fine. Not exactly a relationship that’s ‘end game’ but they were on weird limbo between physical and something further. This only gets put into spotlight were the partners-in-crime AU and the AU where Rune is a rebel leader that Circe attempted to assassinate. I honestly prefer them in a poly with Vaal.

Tannim/Wargoth - You know who the fuck you are and you all who encouraged this should be ashamed. I say as this such a guilty pleasure. I know it’s bad because this a homicidal warlord with a sweet summer child that does not deserve this. I know this. There’s nothing much to say about it other than it was from shenanigans on the blog for a plot point that may or may not still be in my timeline. I still have to acknowledge it because Amaterasu exists and she’s adorable.

Rune/Vaal - I debate about if this would be canon or not. As if it was, it’d fall in Book 3. They actually get into snark about both being disgraced by this time. Developments with them usually surmount to ‘I don’t like you but then I see this other side to you that I have to respect you now.’ Mainly a thing in the neighbors AU and the royal advisers AU and fall apart because Roirr’s a fucking cockblocker. I also prefer them with Circe as well.

Amal/Valencia - By the duo’s timeline, Amal and Valencia do date. He met her while exploring the Ruins of Sil. He calls her a thief rather than a treasure hunter and is corny as hell saying how she steals his heart. And it’s a lot of corniness and adventure with them. But I mainly deal in the sad because canonically, Amal is dead and Valencia never learned of his fate. Rune only figured out Valencia was who his brother was dating during the Earth Orb saga and breaking the news to her at that time was not the best idea.

Rune/Theano - I tell myself that Rune will stop fucking the bad guy eventually. And then it happens again. Good god, man, where are you priorities? Anyway, there’s nothing but fighting with this one. Although I guess it could end up being a battle of wits/ideals as Theano is something of a scientist of magic and Rune is a magic wielder that understands principles behind the magic. But I feel any moment of ‘sweet’ is immediately ruined when either open their mouth. I...I have also a weird sort of poly including Rune’s ex, Emile, because apparently my characters don’t suffer enough.

Tannim/Falwynn - They’re just so adorable. Like I guess they’d fall under cliches of the lovey dovey type of couple to which, what’s wrong with that? They’re both excitable and well-intentioned adventurers and I find that their sweet energy would just end up mixing so well. I found an unintentional drama that comes with Falwynn supposed to be learning from the Hero in game (which Tannim serves as) and just how much danger that Tannim would willing put Falwynn through if he’s dating her. While they could be in actual events, I also think of them in modern verses taking a lot of selfies together and stuff.

Rune/Nythera: Only for the Young Fables AU. Rune is supposed to be Aqualad and Nythera Speedy. They actually work out as like the most mature of the bunch and have a hold on each other’s secrets. And it’s like, ‘hey, you had a shitty day, wanna help me on case?’
