So my friend showed me this
Tumblr media
and I was reminded that not everyone knows about Open-Shell, which has saved my sanity when it comes to Windows 10 and 11. So if even now you're still screaming and wishing you could have a working Start Menu again, Open-Shell is for you.

Just saw a comment on a reddit post that suggested Frey's shoes are still so well-kept because Cuff protects them extra well. We do see traces of his magic around her feet as she runs, after all.
Like... Frey has put a high personal value on those shoes. Another thing she "wears," just like Cuff. I wonder if he's actively doing that out of a sort of respect, or if it's more subconscious :)

Thinking about my last sketch and Cuff learning to trust others out of necessity.
If he ever had to take Frey somewhere for healing while she's unconscious... he'd have to go to Cipal, wouldn't he? And as annoyed as it would make him, he knows that despite her saving everyone, there are still plenty of Cipalians who are wary of Tantas and magic. He couldn't risk just dumping her at the gates.
Who does Frey trust?
Auden. No question.
So he'd trust her too. With no other way of communicating, he'd bring her into the city, but continue guarding her body, maybe blocking the occasional poke of a guard's spear, until Auden showed up. Only then would he let someone else touch her.
And even once she's in a bed, bandaged up, he'd probably keep watch in Bird form. Just to be safe.

seems to me like zac oyama is repping some experiences of asian american schoolkids, defined by such hits like 'regulate your anger,' 'communicate clearer to deliberately misunderstanding assholes,' and 'perpetual sense of unbelonging in both the american part and the asian part of your life.'

I really think Gorgug breaking up with Zelda is part of why Gorgug is so quick to act on his anger and emotions this season. Now when I say this I'm not saying it to blame Zelda or say they should get back together. Gorgug is going through it and putting him in a relationship to "fix" that where all of the burden of his emotional regulation falls on his SO's shoulders is toxic and not what he needs.
But it does mean that I desperately need someone to actually talk about what happened between Gorgug and Zelda/a proper moment of someone sitting Gorgug down and making sure he's good. As funny as constantly aggrevated Gorgug is and as likely as it is that he maybe just finally snapped, I think there's a chance more is going on.
He's fully not rolled on almost any relationship tracks this season and we barely see him interacting with anyone at all. Could this just be Gorgug focusing in on studies and forgetting friendships/relationships? Sure. Could he also be isolating leading to more anger and pent up feelings that have gone unchecked leading to him not wanting to interact with other people because he gets angry so quickly? Yes.

I know a lot of us are worried about the whole “trying to keep everyone together” thing that came up in Murph and Zac’s videos but I think maybe we’re taking it wrong? Like, I think it’s less “the bad kids are breaking up for good because friendships tends to fall away and as they age they fall apart” and more “Riz thinks they’re falling apart because as they grow up and start focusing more on school and their own lives they spend less time together, which after two years of spending every moment together fighting for their lives and shit is a major change.”
Like, the likelihood of the bad kids genuinely falling out seems really low to me? Not just because they’re the fucking bad kids and have been through literal hell together but also because… most of them are siblings? Like, barring Gorgug literally everyone is siblings in some way because of the parent’s weird ass polycule. So a full out falling out would just be… really strange? Like I don’t think it would make sense.
We know from the trailer though that this season is focusing more on the kid’s school life then saving the world and shit. Everyone is focusing on their own classes and dates and jobs and individual lives. Considering they spent the past two years hip-to-hip relying on each other to survive, I imagine pulling away even a little feels drastic. They’re a little codependent!
So, yeah, I don’t think it’s as drastic as a lot of us initially thought hearing that. I think it’s more just… Riz having a trauma response after the last two years. We know from Sophomore Year one of his worst fears is being left behind by his friends and we also know the bad kids were pretty much Riz’s first friends in general. I think it’s very likely he doesn’t understand how friendships work outside of that high-stakes “we have to watch out for each other and always be around one another or we might die” mindset, especially because Riz in the first 2 years was hyper-paranoid and never relaxed even when things were seemingly calm.
Obviously I could be wrong, either way I think Junior Year will have a lot to offer, but this is what I think Murph and Zac meant in their videos.

Gosh there is something there about Colin leaving and reluctantly going to work with Raphaniel and how much he hates that he’s been made a knight and like, he’s out there looking for this purpose but he’s not happy about how he’s finding it.

It wouldn't be a good one, but still. Hm.

thinking about pib and the grapple for identity. he’s an archetype, he doesn’t have stories that are written about him. he comes into each life without a purpose and has to find one. which would seem good, freeing almost, but in a world of such detailed and driven characters who know who they are, know what they want and where they are going, it can feel lonely and overwhelming.
and right now pib is in a weird kind of peripheral space where nobody is exactly like him. he’s a trickster, but not as much of a devout or proper trickster as the others because he cares when he’s not supposed to. he protects his friends, he loves and is loved in return. he’s supposed to get in, perform his trick and get out. but he stayed with tomas for years after they got their ending.
so he isn’t a ‘pure’ trickster. but he’s not a hero like the fox said either, the hero that his new role in the narrative seems to want him to be, because heroes play by the rules and he doesn’t do that.
so he finds his purpose through helping. he finds someone that needs him, someone that he can protect and care for. it’s their story, they are the hero, they play by the rules. he does not. this is how he helps, and if he gets punished for it, then it’s deserved, as long as he gets the hero their happily ever after. because who is he if not a helper? who is he if he can’t be useful to someone?
because if he can help, if he can make an impact, if he can cast a shadow on the wall, maybe it just might mean he’s real. and maybe that way, he’ll find his purpose.
