Synopsis :

My thoughts on this drama :

It started out as some good stuff. But it was too long. Way too long. 25 to 30 episodes would have been more than enough. I could not feel engaged by the main couple. I much prefered the side characters.

The inside and outside of the car is like two worlds. They clearly felt that in the world inside the car, there is only the two of them. This feeling is extremely wonderful. He turned to look at him and slightly raise his brows, giving him a concealed ambiguous look. Yan Ming Xiu is startled. He could immediately read the bare desires in his eyes. He slowly turned his head and looked back out the window again. After a few seconds of pondering, he faintly said, “Let’s go to your home.” This time, it is Zhou Xiang’s turn to be startled. He instantly stepped on the brakes and looked fearfully at the dangerously close distance between his and the car in front of him. The car behind him angrily began to sound its horn. Zhou Xiang slowly released the brakes and let the car continue to slide forward. He didn’t think he’d have a chance, at least with Yan Ming Xiu’s indifferent attitude; there is definitely no chance on their first meeting. Originally, Zhou Xiang didn’t even intend to get his phone number. But he didn’t expect to have such a sudden turn in events with Yan Ming Xiu unexpectedly taking the initiative. zhou xiang my dear boi, my love, my pookie... sighs... i think one of the reasons why zhou xiang was such a compelling characters is because of his earnestness and down-to-earth personality that distinguish himself from other 188 novels' mcs.

i remember reading a post about how zhou xiang is beautiful but the kind of beauty that makes one wants to protect but at the same time ravage ╮⁠(⁠.⁠ ⁠❛⁠ ⁠ᴗ⁠ ⁠❛⁠.⁠)⁠╭ and i honestly kind of agree. when other 188 mcs get hurt i just get mad and kinda want to stop reading whereas while reading pbd, i was overtaken by a kind of sadistic mindset, wanting to watch zhou xiang persevere and grovel in pain facing all his misfortunes.

different from all the 188 mcs, even when zhou xiang ends up in dubious consent sex with ming xiu he doesn't really fight back or at least throw a verbal insult at ming xiu. zhou xiang just resigns and in those times i just wanna give him the biggest hug. zhou xiang is just going through it and whereas 188 mcs often bit back especially when scum mls do the chasing, zhou xiang doesn't do that, he politely rejects ming xiu and just calmly tell ming xiu that they're over and to let him go.

tbh one might even say zhou xiang is kind of a doormat because yes at the beginning of the novel, he often lets people step on him (re: wang yu dong) but i kinda like that a lot in him. but it's not like zhou xiang doesn't have the ability to fight back, it's rather because he has such a soft heart and he's weak to see others in pain so he is just the type to take on the pain for others (⁠っ⁠˘̩⁠╭⁠╮⁠˘̩⁠)⁠っ

i've always felt like there's kind of a well of sadness behind zhou xiang's eyes as i was reading the novel so when we got news of poom phuripan as joe, i knew he was the perfect actor to play zhou xiang. if there's ANYONE with the terribly sad eyes, it's him.
