you ever think about the fact that some people exist not to become stars but to lead others towards the light? ….

hinata was so moved by the little giant that his life found meaning the moment he came into his life (and the little giant never really ended up becoming a pro volleyball player in the first place despite his drive and talent!)

nekomata sensei’s “all we have to do is to lower the net!” shaped kuroo’s entire existence. it left such an impression on him that kuroo turned it into his goal in life: helping as many people as possible discover volleyball.

kuroo himself never going pro but becoming instead a bridge between people and volleyball (which he loves so dearly he wants to make it everyone’s business).

takeda sensei’s “He Who Would Climb a Ladder Must Begin at the Bottom” (which he says to hinata during his first year) became so meaningful to him that hinata hanged it on the wall of his bedroom in Brazil.

sugawara becoming a teacher and getting emotional when facing hinata (to whom he used to set when kageyama refused to do it) and kageyama (who quite literally took what had been his place up until the moment he came) and their growth.

you might think you will never end up doing anything great. instead, i believe you might not end up doing something grand, but whatever it is that you do in life it will always be great and you simply never know whether that one thing you said once or that one thing you once did will ever become the driving force behind someone else’s dream.

watching your boyfriend’s practice was a somewhat common habit for you, this time though, you decided to go a little bit later than usual, making it on time to watch a good ten minutes of him enjoying himself while he spiked. he had noticed your presence but decided to continue with his practice and give you his attention a few minutes after it.

“hello, my gorgeous.” he approached you and kissed your cheek with a huge smile on his face, taking your hand to walk to the locker room while he asked about your day. in the locker room you noticed a small bruise on his cheek while he packed his things into his bag, you made him face you.

“what’s this?” your hand cupped his face and brushed the little purple bit on his skin, running your thumb lovingly through the rest of his cheek.

“just hit my face with cabinet this morning…” he took your hand in his, leaving a small kiss on your palm. his eyes were shifting between your eyes and your lips, they looked so pretty with that pink gloss on them, not to mention the outfit you had chose for the day, so he brought you closer to him, lifting your chin and leaving a chaste kiss on your lips, followed by a long and slow kiss which quickly turned into something else.

“ko, baby, your teammates are outside…” you said while he was leaving a trail of wet kisses down your neck, he bit your skin as a reply, he slid his hands under your shirt, caressing your waist and lower back slowly. that fluttering in your abdomen didn’t go unnoticed, that’s just what he does to you.

he pulled you closer to his body and held you tighter to sit back down in a bench, making you sit comfortably in his lap, facing him. “‘s fuckin’ hot in here.” was the only thing he said before taking his shirt off and kissing you again, he was a bit sweaty, of course, but as the heat started to rise… —and not exactly in the locker room.— you didn’t seem to mind at all when you kissed him back, traveling with your hands to his neck and his hair, giving him a gentle tuck and getting a small moan from him in return.

“who knew you two where so dirty….” it was sakusa’s turn to speak now and he let out a chuckle, making fun of you and allowing himself to enter the locker room to gather his belongings, brushing off the situation as if nothing. the two other following right behind him and your bokuto took the chance to put his shirt back on and you left his lap without even looking at him as you knew he had that shit-eating grin planted on his face, following you as he took his gym bag to leave the premises and go back home with you.

“i don’t know why i let you do that every time!” you smacked his chest when he catches up with you, only laughing and kissing your cheek to show you he was sorry. (he really wasn’t)

“oh come on, baby. i can’t resist you when you come to my practice looking all pretty.” his hand was quickly placed in your waist when you were leaving the gym, boy did he had plans for you later…

kuroo tetsurō, former captain of the nekoma volleyball team and current employee of the jva might as well just be your soulmate, the person promised to you. as difficult as people see you, he gets around you, he always has. so that meant that he saw right through your bullshit; he was attentive and observant, he knew when you were hiding something, when something was off with you, and this particular morning, his suspicions were proven right when he received a call from your mother.

he hates how stubborn you could be when you wanted to, and it always got on your family’s nerves when you never said you were feeling sick or sad because you were never that type of person, and the sentence “you’ll take me to the doctors when i ask for it.” was always used. you always dismissed any bad feeling, but for some ironic reason you always thought the worst out of every situation, it’s funny, for someone who hates being sick, you were often in that situation. so it wasn’t weird for your boyfriend to find out you were down with the flu from another person.

so there you were, laying on your shared bed, almost crying from how unbearable your fever was getting, your body was hurting too and that uncomfortable feeling on your nose and throat that never seemed to go away. and to add to all that fun and magic, you just got your period, so we might add the cramps to the equation. it wasn’t the best day of your week.

you heard the front door and immediately sat up, cursing yourself because you already knew what was about to come, but you decided to play dumb the second you heard his footsteps getting closer and his tall figure was leaning on the door frame, he wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt and see if you’ll admit that you were sick.

“tetsu what are you doing here?” you asked as you raised and eyebrow, finding some strength to get out of your bed. “you should be at work…”

“i asked my boss to let me take the day off since you were sick. how are you feeling, baby?

“i’m not sick, i’m fine.”

“hmm… would you at least give your loving boyfriend a hug? i didn’t get a chance to say goodbye earlier.” he was plotting something, of course, but you didn’t even notice, you were tired and you wanted to hug him too, so you gave in and hugged him, letting out a sigh of relief from how warm he felt against your body. “you’re burning, my love.” he whispered softly and placed his hand on your forehead to confirm, gently pushing you back into the edge of the bed where he sat you down.

“‘m fine.” was all you said before you stood up to walk away to the hallway, into the living room and to the kitchen, but you didn’t get too far to the kitchen because you had stopped to place your hand on a wall for some support, it wasn’t a joke how tired you were feeling, and he just stood behind you with that knowing look on his face and his arms crossed.

“being your boyfriend means i get to take care of you, y/n,” he approached you and placed a hand on your shoulder, making you face him, and as soon as you do, that same hand is placed on your cheek, his thumb caressing it. as soon as you closed your eyes to enjoy his touch, he carried you like a sack of potatoes back into the room. “stop being so stubborn.”

“put me down, tetsurō, i’m not a child!”

“since you want to behave like one, take it like a champ.” he said as he walked back to the room, laying your body gently on the bed and putting the blankets over you, kissing your forehead in the process, you just gave up. “have you taken any meds?” you nodded. “have you stayed hydrated? fever dehydrates you a lot.” and you nodded again. “atta girl.” and he laid down beside you. “you’re not weak for being sick, love, and you’re not bothering anyone either. i want you to speak up whenever you feels sick or anything like that, ‘kay?”

he put the blankets over him too, hugging you and holding you close to his chest as soon as he saw some tears rolling down your eyes. kuroo knew you hated being sick, and he also knew how you always felt like a nuisance even though your family never felt that way about you, but you didn’t like feeling that you were a burden to someone.

“i don’t like being sick.”

he smiled to himself. there you were, admitting that you were, in fact, sick. “i know, love, but i’m here to take care of you…” he kissed your forehead once more as he rubbed your back, feeling how your body gave in and you stopped feeling tense.

he had always been there to take care of you in every extension of the word. through high school, college and now as you two live together, taking care you just comes natural to him, and he loves being able to do so.

aah i love this whole little sceeene. we've never actually seen them interact before but you can tell by the way they all talk to each other that there's familiarity between them!! and like, of course that makes sense with all the camps theyve been at together, but it's still just so nice to actually see evidence of it! and like bokuto and akaashi are both being so genuine and considerate and wanting to ease her worries, and again lol we have no reason to think they'd act otherwise, but it's still just nice and happy and wholesome!! the inter-team friendships just make me so happy ya know, and seeing that that extends to the managers is really nice to see too!!
