DC’s Stargirl Ep. 1

THE FOLLOWING CONTAINS SPOILERS OF DC’S STARGIRL

First of all, Happy Pride Month.

Okay now down to business, Stargirl. For a show with a high production value i expected something smaller but with the creation of STRIPE we know damn well this show might continue to be really good.

Episode 1 really set the tone for the rest of the season, feisty. 8/10

Basically a synopsis of the episode... The episode opens with the JSA fighting the Injustice Society on Christmas Day, and Stripesy (Pat Dugan) in his car on the way to help Starman. Upon his arrival the Injustice Society has killed off everyone in the JSA barring Stripesy, who technically wasn't even in the JSA, just Starman’s sidekick from childhood. Cut to the Whitmore household where Courtney is patiently waiting for her father to return home. That day is the day, that her father never returned home. Starting the coincidence that Starman died on Christmas eve and Courtney’s father also disappeared on the same day. Time Jump to many years later and Pat Dugan has married Courtney's mother, Barbara, and Courtney is a 15 year old in high school with a little Step-brother, Mike. Not bonding with Pat in any way shape or form, she begins to explore her new house in Blue Valley.

On her first day of school she is already known by the populars and a part of the singles, which include of Rick Tyler, Yolanda Montez, and Beth Chapel. After beating up on the jocks already for antagonizing Yolanda she is sent to the office. Upon finding the remnants of the JSA in the house’s basement she discovers the cosmic staff. A staff that only lights up to her and her only connection to the JSA, she sneaks out and explores the staff’s abilities. When she come upon the drive-in she sees Henry King Jr. the resident jock of Blue Valley High school tormenting a couple of students. Deciding to put on scarf as a mask to confront him with the cosmic staff, unwillingly blowing up his car.

After Pat Discovers what happened, he tells her that she should not ever try to use the staff again and that she isn’t meant to wield it. When he recounts the story of Starman and the JSA she puts two and two together and starts to question if Starman is her father explaining her father’s disappearance and her connection to the staff. Disobeying Pat once more and taking the staff out later, she goes to the tire company, the lifeline of blue valley where Brainwave finds her, and an all out duel commences. After defeating brainwave and escaping a large robot, shows up and the Episode Ends when Pat speaks from the robot to get mad at Courtney.

I really liked this episode because although so many things were A LOT of coincidences i think the the series started off on a great note and I still commend the creators for giving the DC Universe a teenage hero. I really want to see what the season holds for Stargirl and future crossovers with the existing Arrowverse.

CW Charmed Reboot - My Take

*SPOILERS AHEAD* IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED THE CW’S CHARMED I DON’T READ AHEAD

The following is purely my opinion feel free to attack me for it

Season 1 Rate: 9/10

I really liked season one; the character development was actually really and the individual storylines. To see Mel lose herself over Niko and actually take inter her hands to erase Niko’s memory was so tragic and hurt my very soul. Maggie’s storyline was one that took me some time to love but as she began to see herself as a strong independent woman it was really easy for me to see the progression. At first it just seemed like she was boy crazy but once she learned that there is more to love than just men and sex it gave her a depth that was amazing. Macy’s demon storyline was amazing also i think that making her a charmed one that was half demon half witch was a great move on the writers part, I personally didn't watch the original so i’m not sure if that is what happened in the original but i think that they played it really well and having her destroy the source of all evil

Season 2 Rate: 7/10

This season in my opinion was great, the only problems i had with it are the following: The beginning and the ending. I’ll explain... The beginning to me seemed like a rush like almost only 10-20 minutes in they were dead, displaced, and everything from season 1 was a distant memory and i’m not sure if it was meant to be like that but it really confused me. As soon as they showed up in witchness protection i was like, “i am royally confused, wtf.”. The ending was even worse, how are they really going to end it without them defeating Julian and his aunt?? Like this wasn’t even a cliffhanger it was just unfinished and i think i can blame that mainly on, Covid but it still frustrated me. But besides the obvious rushing of some of the episodes i still really liked the amount of character development there was this season with Maggie, she really stood out in terms of learning to accept herself and what she really wants. This season gave Mel and Macy something to toy with in terms of love, they really got to play around with that. Although this season felt rushed in a way i still really liked it and will be watching season 3.

CW’s DC Stargirl - The Rundown

First and Foremost I am extremely excited for DC Stargirl. If I had to choose someone from the DC Universe to have a show on Stargirl would be a great one.

Stargirl is the story of Courtney Whitmore a Teenager on the new Earth-2 after Crisis on Infinite Earths. She is just a normal teenager but when she finds out her step-father is the sidekick to the infamous “Starman” a notorious hero on this earth, she connects with the Cosmic Staff, Starman’s iconic weapon. After the destruction of the “Justice Society of America” of which Starman, Hourman, Dr. Mid-Nite, and Wildcat are respective and founding members of.

I truly think that this series will be a great addition to the DC Universe, by providing a platform for younger teenagers to see them selves represented in television. In the trailer “Rebel” on the CW website, her Stepfather makes it a point to tell her that she is 15 and should be doing normal teenager things. In another trailer she vows to put together a new team of heroes. From the cast photos we see that the team will in fact be teenagers.

If you have not seen the DC Universe TV Shows (Arrowverse) Yet I seriously Advise you to because this show is timelined AFTER Crisis on Infinite Earths. Although there may not be any crossover episodes in the first season of Stargirl, there are a couple episodes in Legends of Tomorrow that give a bit of insight on The Justice Society of America and even Earth-1 (before crisis) Stargirl.

I’ve already posted a chronological timeline of how to watch the current Arrowverse.

hi i'm just confused over the ''you've slept with someone'' ''yeah, but i'm not having a baby'' thing?? beause i've seen some people say that means grizz has slept with women?? we don't actually have an answer but we know he's gay and that tent situation kinda confirmed that for himself and viewers. if he can't be aroused by women then why would he sleep with one?? people on tumblr are confusing me, what do you think of this whole thing? sorry if this is kinda weird lmaoo

lmao its not weird. What i got from that was before grizz came out i guess he was to say the least repressed and felt that he was gay but didn’t act on it. Grizz has never said explicitly that he has slept with women but by Sam’s comment it’s pretty obvious he has. Grizz probably told sam that he has because in highschool word gets around or Grizz told sam after their many hours together.

Being on the football team probably made sure that he wasn’t gonna come out. Remember when he told Gwen that he wasn’t gonna come out until college and when he told the Guard that he didn’t plan on seeing them after highschool. This is kinda a clue into the fact that he wasn’t out at all and was “caught up in being straight” so that would imply that he had girlfriends and had sex with girls. Its a common trope in the closeted jock storyline in shows.

Becca’s Baby Daddy

*Spoilers*

Okay so, i thought that maybe her baby daddy was one of the parents and i have about a 5% thought that it still is. But Now i think it is Campbell.

Why?

1. Becca the first night it happened walked away from Sam when he caught her recording everyone. Some scenes before that, Campbell and Elle are trying to get it on but Elle isn’t having such a great time. Elle walks away and in more ways than one, leaves Campbell wanting. So who is to say that Becca didn’t walk out, down a few drinks, and was caught by Campbell stumbling out. We know Becca isn’t the one for parties (i.e. socialism and socializing). So she might be a bit of a lightweight. So thats my first thought that it might be Campbell.

2. In one of the last episodes (9 or 10) Kelly and Becca were reminiscing over photos (its the same scene where Kelly sees Pfieffer in the photo of Cassandra). Becca is wearing a Black crop top and is WASTED to say the least. And she did tell Sam when they were sitting on the bed talking about the baby, that she was drunk so it leads me to believe that that party was when the baby was conceived. The only thing is, is that Becca never wore a black crop top to any of the parties during the timeline of the show. So i was thinking maybe, The Party at Harry’s after the play.

3. When Kelly said to Sam, “She has your eyes” I started thinking.

The following is a little conversation i had with myself... Enjoy.

Me: Okay i get it many people have the same eyes as Sam. Its Genetics damn it.

Also me: Genetics! Of course! Who would share the Same Eyes as Sam... CAMPBELL YOU IDIOT. (Me at Me)

Me: OHHHHH YOU ARE RIGHT. The writers arent stupid, they created Grizzam they are smart as hell. They put that line in because Campbell is likely the father.

Final Thoughts

I think when Becca actually reveals who Eden’s Father is, Sam is going to be mad either way because she kept such a big secret from him
