Hi, I've just started watching TOS and I've spontaneously started writing a (terrible) fic. Is there a K/S community somewhere, or do people post on ao3 or what? Most of the blogs I can find tend to be inactive :(
Hi there! Okay, so I know this was sent forever ago, and I feel awful about that! But mostly people post their fic on AO3, or on ksarchive.com, which is a Spirk fic site. Tumblr is winding down in terms of fandom life, I think, but a lot of us have migrated over to Twitter! I am on there as sunshine-captain. :) Definitely put your fic on AO3 if you want to share it, I keep track of the Jim/Spock tag on there, and I’m sure I’m not the only one!

Fire, Metal, Oil, and Turkey
written by: Raven_Knight
words: 2,042

It's Thanksgiving on Earth and the crew of U.S.S. Enterprise gather together to celebrate. However, not everyone is thrilled with Kirk's demand of deep-frying the turkey. Someone better take charge before things get out of hand.

yo I’m looking for a spirk fic if you know it? I think I read it on the ks archive. it was a long, completed, older fic and it was an au where the Kirks were landowners on a rural, small colony (even though it wasn’t set back in time and Jim has dreams of Starfleet, they ride horseback and Jim meets Spock when he held him with a broken carriage wheel?) and Vulcans are second class citizens on the colony (there’s drama bc Sarek has passed) and the relative Amanda + Spock live with isn’t great?—
—I finished it at like... 4 AM on a school night bc I got super wrapped into it and there’s more I can’t remember, like a Vulcan elder the Kirks lease out smaller homes on their land to who helps them understand bonds? and George’s library? and the town is super prejudiced so there’s drama when they realize Jim’s been hanging out/getting involved with a Vulcan? and towards the end there’s a dramatic scene where they get on a starship for the first time. do you know which one I’m talking about?
Yes, my dear anon, it so happens I know exactly what fic you’re talking about! It’s one of my favorites actually, and one I’ve recced here before:
Worlds Apart by M E Carter
AU. Albion IV was colonized years ago by Humans and Vulcans who rejected technology. Additionally, the Vulcans rejected the teachings of Surak. Kirk, the young son of a Human landowner, meets Spock, one of the impoverished Vulcans who work the land nearby and discovers a friend and more in the quiet young alien. But Kirk’s hopes and plans for their future must deal with mutual prejudice – and the secret Spock has been keeping for years: his uncle’s ongoing sexual abuse..
It’s a great story, the world building is awesome, and of course Jim and Spock’s relationship. It’s also massive, over 100k. Of course, as is obvious from the summary, there are explicit and dark themes here, so please be careful. But it is a good one.
(We’re still here, just like we promised.

thyla-recs Wordpress Archive
tl;dr: We will still be updating this blog on tumblr, but have made a backup of it just in case.
In light of tumblr purging blogs, wrongly flagging material, and banning content, the thyla-recs fic rec blog has been backed up on Wordpress. We love our rec blog and the authors/stories featured on it, and don’t want to risk having it all disappear for reasons beyond our control.
To be clear, the staff has said that written material isn’t included in this ban; however, so much is left to individual discretion when it comes to enforcement on their side, and things can change on this website at the bat of an eyelash. In short, it’s hard to trust them and we’re just seeking to preserve what we’re doing here. It’s a labor of love, after all.
We will still be updating this blog on tumblr, so you don’t have to follow our precautionary account over there.
The only trouble at present with the Wordpress import is that no tags were carried over during the process; that means our detailed organization system hasn’t been preserved at that location. Depending on how things go in the future, we might work to replicate this system…but for now, it’s simply an archive that’s shadowing all of our recommendations here as a fail safe.
Thanks! <3

Nature Of The Bond
written by: jadztone
words: 33,429
rating: NC-17
Just before they are to head back to Earth after the fal-tor-pan, Spock detects that he has a bond with Jim. Still having gaps in his memory, he attempts to analyze the nature of the bond. Spock concludes that he and Jim are bondmates, and says as much in front of Starfleet brass. Jim is shocked, but goes along with it out of fear that Starfleet would declare Spock unfit for duty. After telling Spock the truth, they agree to continue letting Starfleet believe that their bond is romantic in nature, while both privately wish that it was.

Been looking for months for this fic I read. It's bugging me I can't find it. So, please help if you can. Here we go: Kirk and Spock don't exactly like each other, and on a mission something happens and they are in pain when they don't touch and then must have sex, which will last a few weeks and it fades away in the story. Spock/Uhura in the beginning. Uhura agrees to it, though pissed, but implements a no kissing rule due to intimacy. Not a Pon Farr fic. I'm hoping you or someone can find it.
Hello there, friend! As soon as I read your ask, it rang a bell for me. The circumstances aren’t exactly as you described, but after searching around thoroughly (and I promise I did, I googled extensively and checked the fic finder community on LJ, to see if there was another fic like it), I’m positive it must be this AOS* fic:
Eye of the Storm by littlebirdtold
Post-ST XI. Three months into the five-year mission, Spock is still with Uhura, and Spock and Jim are at each other's throats when the Enterprise is sent to investigate another lightning storm in space. They encounter a Vulcan ship, commanded by Captain Spock and his very illogical First Officer Jim Kirk who, to everyone's shock, are happily married and in love with each other. The other Kirk disapproves of the fact that his counterpart is letting Uhura have what should be 'rightfully his' and is determined to 'set things right,' but the problem is, no one appreciates his meddling.
If it’s not this fic, then I’m sorry, I hope you find it! But I’m sure it must be? It matches so well.
*We’re a TOS rec blog, and will continue to only rec TOS fics, but if the fic someone comes searching for is AOS, then I’ll happily find it for them if I can! I read TOS and AOS (though AOS to a lesser extent) and I know the frustration of remembering a fic so clearly, but not being able to FIND it. Just wanted to clarify that!
