The Fox Goddess Utsukushi

A minor fox goddess once took up residence near a small, long forgotten shrine, having been chased out of all major cities by other gods/goddesses that were far stronger than her. Throughout it all she kept her head high and always took extra care of her fur, it was her lone pride and joy in her existence. She'd grown used to being alone until a pregnant woman came up to her, offering her some of their food in exchange for a small blessing. The woman's child was sickly, she could feel it, when the fox checked she confirmed the woman was indeed with a sickly child, they'd die upon birth at the rate they were going. The fox gathered herbs bring them to the woman, as the fox ran away the woman spotted them, awestruck by its beauty. After taking the herbs the woman decided to put her trust in the fox goddess.

After the safe delivery of the child the mother came back, offerings in hand. As the fox slowly helped the people they slowly started making a town around the shrine, upgrading the shrine as the town grew until it was a magnificent shrine fit for any God/Goddess. With their worship and offerings she grew in size till she lost the 'Minor' in her title and became a full blown Fox Goddess. She guarded the people for as long as they kept up their offerings until one day a war was rumored to start between the two neighboring kingdoms, the very kingdoms that they town sat between. Should the war pull through the town would be trampled and destroyed, no one would make it.

When the rumors turned out to be true the fox goddess raised stone walls infused with elementalis crystals, it would protect them in her stead. She turned to the woman who had started everything, she was once again with child, with a small bow towards her she leapt off to pull their forces away from the town so she could deal with them properly. The war only lasted 4 days but those days were bathed with blood. The only lives that she spared were the ones who begged, no tricks behind their words. When the kingdoms finally realized she would only stop if they called off the war they called their forces back, coming to an agreement.

When the goddess returned everyone gasped at the sight of her once pure white fur now stained red with blood, she went inside her shrine to curl up and think. The fur she was once so proud of, that she refused to do anything that would sully it, she threw away without a second thought for their lives, the purity of her fur was not worth their lives. As she laid there thinking of how she had changed so much thanks to the kindness and attention of the townspeople the doors to the shrine opened.

The townspeople entered the shrine slowly, all holding in their hands their most prized possessions. One by one they each offered their treasured item, even the children offered without protest. When the final person offered their item to her they all bowed, "Thank you!" They cried. "Thank you for saving us, we know how much you treasured your fur so we brought you our most cherished items so that you wouldn't have to mourn your lovely white fur. We do not ask for these items back, they are yours, we wish for you to have them as a reminder that we are all eternally grateful for your sacrifice." At their words the fox goddess wept, she wept for days at their kindness and words.

Many years go by, baby in the mothers stomach had grown up and now had children of her own. Her youngest was always visiting the fox goddess, bringing her snacks, the goddess often requested the child cook something and bring it to her. One day the child decided to do just that, they gathered the ingredients themselves, not knowing that she had grabbed Foxglove. The child mixed everything together, making something simple for their first try. When the food was ready she rushed to the fox goddess to give them the food, as she ate she realized the food had been poisoned. Looking at the child she realized they couldn't have done it on purpose, she did not wish to hurt the child but what they did could not be undone now.

"It's was delicious…" The goddess choked out before coughing up blood. The child fell to their knees in shock, she looked so confused and scared that the fox goddess used what strength she had to take on a comforting motherly form. Taking the child in her arms she held them tight, comforting them. "It's okay my child, you did not mean to do me harm, I understand this but I'm afraid I must leave you and the town." The goddess told the child, the child finally understanding what happened, she sobbed, begging for forgiveness. The goddess pulled the child close, whispering into her ear. When she pulled away the child was asleep in her arms, having used the last of her magic to put them to sleep so they wouldn't see her draw her last breath. After she passed her form reverted to it's fox form, her body curled protectively around the child.

The child was found by the mother and a few worried townspeople after a couple hours. When they realized the goddess was dead they wept for her, the town never once blamed the child for the knew the goddess would not wish them to punish the innocent. The walls were said to stand for another 650 years before the magic faded and the walls crumbled away. There had been no signs the magic was draining so no one expected it. The town has since been given several names, it is now a lovely urban living area in Japan.

Akio Diary Entry:---- It's been 67 years since I've written in this but I have a final entry to make… I killed the Fox Goddess, I poisoned her with Foxglove without meaning to. I was just a child and my mother wasn't with me, I was too impatient to wait for her, if only I had waited.. It's too late for regrets though and I've since accepted and come to peace with it as she would've wanted. She whispered something to me before she put me to sleep, something I swore to never tell anyone but.. I want to leave this behind for my family, for when this information might be needed. Here is what the Goddess told me.. "Do not fear my child, do not weep, I harbor no anger towards you for I have only ever wanted to see you all grow and prosper since the day I helped your grandmother. I'm going to use the last of my energy to make a star oath and then put you to sleep for a bit. By the stars I will watch over you even as my body no longer exists, my spirit will always reside in you and your decedents. I bless you with my name, wear it with as much pride as I now wear my blood stained fur. Now sleep child." The next thing I knew I was waking up in my mothers arms. Her words still confuse me to this day but I did notice how the women in our family would often show fox like traits; sneaky, tricky, playful, proud. Some even had strong connections to nature, those with magic could control the flora around them especially well. I hope even in distant future she will continue to watch over my family, we still go by her name to this day and we wear it with pride. I hope this helps whoever reads it. As I said, this is my final entry as I can feel death preparing to take me. Remember, as long as you have family, blood or not, you are never alone. Goodbye, Akio Utsukushi

Vent de l'hôtel/Hotel Wind

This hotel quickly became a world wonder not long after it showed up. The hotel has only been around 5 years but those who have experienced it will never forget it. They say this hotel shows up under 2 conditions. Condition 1, A lost souls cries tickled Mary Shines ears. Condition 2, The hotel senses it is needed. Not even it's creator can control the hotel, she once said in an interview that her love, spirit, and tears brought it to life when she finished building it, she never expanded on that comment and has since refused any media an interview. A patron once said "If you want to find Hotel Wind you must let the wind carry you to it" this patron was later found to have joined the hotel staff.

Antonio had found y/n alone in the training room, as he passed by he took notice of her shakes as well as the tear stains on her face. He stopped in his tracks, turning to face her. Opening his mouth to speak he hesitates for a moment, unsure of what was the right thing to say. That's when y/n took notice of his stare, looking to him with big wet e/c eyes. y/n looks away as she felt another wave hit her, tears filling her eyes. "I'm fine, ignore it." She insists to him. After a silent moment he moves in front of y/n, kneeling down, taking her hands into his smaller ones before looking up at her, a sweet, concerned look in his eyes. "Is this okay? I'm more than happy to sit here and listen to your worries, you don't have to be alone, we're like our own little family here." He reminds her. Tears begin to flow down your face as y/n tells him everything, the cause of the panic attack, the way it made her feel like everyone and everything was watching and closed in. As y/n sobbed he stood up, holding her close to his chest, hands rubbing soothing circles in her back. Once she went from sobbing to small hiccups he picks her up, lifting her onto his shoulder. "You've gotten your tears out, now how about we work on making you feel better? First things first, a good meal to warm your stomach!" He cheers. Y/n stares at him, a little surprised, until laughter bubbles up inside her. A few stray tears fall down her cheek, wiping them away she nods. "Yeah... I'd like that a lot.. Thanks Antonio." y/n whispers softly, a smile one her face.
