Not My Reality Final
Jensen Ackles x Reader
Story Summary: Y/N wakes up in a nightmare. Is it her new reality, or can she figure out how to fix it. How can she get pack to her husband Jensen?
Catch Up Here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3
Tumblr media
Rain began to fall about two hours outside of Lawrence. Heavy, torrential rain quickly covered the road and made it hard to see. The SUV’s windshield wipers could barely keep up with the downpour.
Everyone was quiet in the vehicle while Jensen’s full focus was keeping the SUV on the road. Lightning flashed in the sky, lighting up the surrounding landscape quickly before turning pitch black once again. Thunder quickly followed, loud enough to shake the glass windows.
“I’m not sure if we should keep going,” Jensen muttered, his shoulders tense, his energy drink forgotten beside him as he fought to keep the SUV from sliding off the road. “This storm is ridiculous.”
As much as you wanted to keep going, you had to agree with him. This storm was dangerous, and it wasn’t worth putting you at risk. But you had no idea where you were exactly, or if there was anywhere safe enough to pull over.
“Any idea where we are?” Jared asked, holding his phone up. “I’ve got no service.”
Jensen tossed his phone to Jared, who shook his head. “No service. No idea where we are. I guess we just go slow.”
He had the SUV going at a snail’s pace, but it still fishtailed on the flooded road. Lightning flashed over the car, thunder immediately following. This was the worst storm you had ever been in, and you couldn’t help but be a little scared.
Jensen was a talented driver, but you could tell this storm was affecting him also. His jaw was clenched as he glanced over to Jared again. “How far away from Lawrence do you think we are?”
For a moment, it felt as if you were once again back in an episode of Supernatural. Jensen manning the steering wheel as Dean, Jared giving directions, sitting in the passenger seat. Your character, in her spot in the backseat. If only this was the Impala and not the SUV.
“I have no idea. Maybe half an hour or so.” Jared didn’t seem very convinced about his answer.
The air inside and out of the SUV was charged with electricity. The hair on your arms stood straight up, your heart starting to race. Your vision started to blur, and you called out to Jensen, not liking what was going on. “Jensen, please,” you pleaded, feeling as if your heart wanted to beat right out of your chest.
“Y/N, I’m a little busy keeping us on the road. Can’t it wait,” he muttered, not even glancing back. Jared turned as you leaned forward, his eyes widening.
“Y/N are you feeling okay?” He asked as another flash of thunder filled the car. “You’re as pale as a ghost.”
Shaking your head, you tried unbuckling your car, but your arm refused to move. “I don’t know what’s happening to me, but I’m scared.”
“Damn it,” Jensen exclaimed, suddenly pulling over and stopping the car. “What is it?”
Turning the cab lights on, his mouth opened and shut. Speechless. “What is it?” You asked. “Why can’t I feel my arms?”
“I can’t see them,” he whispered. “Y/N, you’re turning translucent.”
Peering down, you could see the seat straight through where your arm had just been. Terrified, you turned your attention back to Jensen. “What’s going on?”
“Maybe you’re going home,” Jared suggested. “Maybe this a good thing.”
That did put a smile to your face. “I hope so. I’m ready to see my Jensen.”
Turning in his seat, Jensen started to reach out when he remembered he couldn’t grasp your hand. “I know that your Jensen is really lucky to have you. I wish you all the best.”
With tears in your eyes, you gave in to the energy flowing through your system. Closing your eyes, you felt yourself drift away. Seconds ticked by before the weight of your body had you opening your eyes.
Two pairs of eyes stared at you. Beautiful hazel eyes shadowed by a long flop of hair. Then the familiar pine green eyes that you loved so much. Full of so much confusion. “Jensen? Is that really you?”
“Jensen? What the hell,” he muttered, his voice so much deeper, gravelly than normal. As your nerves settled slightly, you could notice the maroon flannel shirt he was wearing, the black t-shirt underneath. You were no longer in the SUV, and the sounds of the storm were no longer hurting your ears.
“Where am I?” You asked, completely dismayed. Here you had been hoping to find yourself back in your Vancouver apartment.
“Emma, are  you okay?” They both asked again, using your character’s name.  Instead of answering, you stared past them, noticing the familiar design of the Bunker. The bookcases were completely full of empty texts. The prop knives and materials placed on top. You were sitting at one of the wooden tables.
Cautiously peering up, you were expecting to see the open ceiling, the lights, and the bars of the sound stage. Instead, you were met with smooth plaster ceilings, completely meshed with the walls. “Not again,” you whispered, tears filling your eyes as your hopes dashed.
Who you had thought of as Jensen, but was Dean, came crouching even closer, rubbing the back of his hand against your cheek. “Emma sweetheart, you look as if you’ve seen a ghost. Please, tell me. What’s wrong?”
Hastily brushing away tears, you gave him a slight smile. “You probably wouldn’t believe me if I told you.”
“Try us,” Sam answered, scooting his chair closer.
“I’m not Emma!” You blurted out. “My name is Y/N, and I play Emma. I’m married to Jensen. My Jensen and not that other one. But I was torn from my Jensen, tossed to the other Jensen, only to be thrown here. I have no idea what’s going on, I just know that I’m so tired. Of it, and of everything. I just want to go to sleep, and wake up and have everything be okay.”
Tears streamed down your face. Tears of frustration and despair. Of heartache and fear. Fear that you would never see your Jensen again. Or your house and the life you had made.
Dean pulled you into his arms, and while it wasn’t exactly the same as Jensen’s, it was still comforting. “Slow down, tell us everything.”
So you did. About your marriage to Jensen, and how everything had been perfect before being pulled away and thrown into utter chaos. You told him about somehow waking up in Austin, and finding out the person you were there was utterly horrible. You told them about driving towards Lawrence and the storm, and how you had slowly disappeared before Jared and Jensen’s eyes.
“Why don’t you go lay down and try to relax?” Dean suggested, eyeing his brother cautiously. “We’ll figure things out, I promise.”
Nodding, you let him guide you out of the library, and down the hallway. A hallway you had walked so many times before. But not as yourself, but as Emma. It felt so much different now. Slightly chilly, the marble tile cool and real under your fingers. “You can sleep in here for right now,” Dean guided you into his bedroom. Reaching into one of the drawers, he pulled out a ratty T-shirt and shorts. What your character normally wore to bed. “I’ll be back to talk in a little bit.”
Smiling at him, you clutched the clothes as he quietly shut the door behind him.
The bed smelled of Dean, a deep musk mixed with gunpowder and whiskey. It was a mixture that you had always loved. Breathing deeply, you snuggled in, the scent lulling you to a much-needed sleep.
“We need to tell her,” you heard hush arguing as you slowly woke up. “She deserves to know.”
“Yeah, that’s a great awakening,” Dean muttered sarcastically. “But I do agree that she needs to know. Speaking of which, have you heard from Emma? It would be pretty awkward for her to show up, and see another version of herself sitting here.”
“No, nothing. It’s not like her to stay this quiet,” Sam answered. “You don’t think…,”
You opened your eyes to see both brothers in the corner of the room standing close together as they tried to whisper. “I don’t know what to think!” Dean raised his voice, glancing at you to see that you were awake.
“What are you talking about?” You yawned. “Is everything okay?”
Sam patted Dean on the shoulder. “I’ll leave this one up to you.”
He left the room, and Dean slowly came to stand by the bed while you slid up to a sitting position. “Can I sit?” He asked, nervously tugging on the red and grey plaid he had changed into. Nodding, you scooted your legs up, giving him room to sit on the comfortable mattress. “Is it about Emma? Is she okay?”
“We’re not sure,” he answered, his green eyes searched your face. “But that’s not our biggest problem.”
You could feel nervous energy settle through your system as you waited for the bad news to fall. It had to be bad news, that was the only reason he would be this unsure. You stayed quiet, waiting for him to talk, not sure if you wanted to hear anything.
“This is the third reality you’ve been in,” he started. “Your original one, then the one with another Jensen and Jared. And finally, this one. Each place being an alternate reality of what Sam and I believe is this one.”
“That makes sense, I think,” you were having trouble wrapping your mind around it. “But…,”
He held up his hand and you let him continue. “We’re not sure why you’ve been transported between the three. Why you, and no one else. We’re also not sure if Emma switched places with you. We haven’t been able to get a hold of her for a good 36 hours now. And that’s not a good sign.”
You could see how that news was heartbreaking to him. Instinctively you reached out, threading your fingers through his. “This is what we do know,” his stared straight into your eyes as he continued. “Chuck is super annoyed with us right now.”
“Chuck?”
“I’m not sure what episode of our lives your filming,” he muttered sarcastically. “But here Chuck is now the big bad guy. Killing people, ruining everything. And right now, he is destroying things. Entire worlds.”
“Entire realities?” You gulped. “Including mine.”
“That’s what we’re thinking,” he answered softly. “I’m so sorry Y/N. I know that’s not the news you were hoping for.”
A tear slipped down your cheek, another one quickly joining. “And my Jensen?”
The pained smile on his face was all the answer you needed. Tears streamed down your face, your entire heart shattering in an instant. Dean pulled you into his arms, giving you as much comfort as he was taking for himself. “Do you think he’s dead?” You asked, sniffling.
“I believe so,” he answered. “Chuck wasn’t gentle. And as much as it hurts now, there has to be a reason you were saved.”
You rested your hand on your belly, Dean’s gaze following it before his eyes widened. “Maybe that’s the reason.”

Remus gets injured in a game. I have literally read everything you have written but i'm not sure if you have wrote one like this. If you have, ANOTHER PLZZ
Hello anon! I wove this together with a couple different prompts, listed below:
1. Coops argument
2. Prompt 21: “You need to eat something”
3. Remus gets in a fight with Snape
4. Protective Sirius
5. Coops going home grumpy after losing a game (see link)
Sweater Weather credit goes to @lumosinlove! TW for fights, blood, bruises, arguments, and someone getting called a wh*re
Snape’s cheek gave easily beneath Remus’ fist, which was a tad bit surprising. He wrapped his other hand in the neckline of his jersey, yanking him back in to land another punch to the side of his head—that would leave a nasty bruise in the morning. Stars sparkled in his vision as Snape got a lucky shot in and he doubled down, ignoring the thin line of pain that trickled down his chin.
“Break it up, boys, that’s enough!” The referee’s whistle blew as he and another pried Remus’ hands off Snape’s jersey; someone took him by the shoulders and pushed him away from the fight. Pots.
“Say it again!” Remus shouted at Snape as the refs and their teammates continued pulling them apart. “Say it again and I’ll knock your fucking teeth in!”
James’ hold on him faltered for a second as another person skated over and tried to join the melee. “Cap, no!”
“Move, Pots.”
“Loops won the fight, it’s done. Let’s just keep playing.” James shoved both their chests hard enough to send them back a few inches, but Remus’ blood boiled as he ground his mouthguard between his teeth. He glanced up at the clock—3:16 left in the third, Snakes up by two. Their win was almost guaranteed and Snape was still pulling this bullshit.
He skated quickly over to the bench and mumbled his thanks to Hestia as she pressed some gauze to his lip and ice to his cheek. “Lupin, you’re in for the rest of the game,” Coach Weasley said, tapping him on the arm with his playboard. “Anything broken?”
“No, Coach.”
“Then get your ass back out on the ice and score some points. We need some speed.”
He could feel the fury rolling off Sirius as they wove through the Snakes’ defense, shooting again and again to no avail. Frustration built up in every nerve—he was worried about the win, of course, but mostly he was pissed. Pissed at Snape, pissed at James for pushing him, and pissed at Sirius for butting into the fight.
Remus scored a final goal just as the buzzer sounded. Hissing filled the stadium, even though it was a home game. Snape smirked at him as he skated past and the only thing keeping him from dragging him right back in by his greasy hair was the possible suspension.
The shower was cold, because of course the fucking shower was cold. Remus shoved his stuff in his duffel and waited outside the locker room, silently fist bumping the guys as they left. God, he hated losing games. It was inevitable, but it always felt shitty.
“How’s the lip?” Sirius asked when he finally came out, bag slung over his shoulder.
“Fine. What the fuck was that?”
“What was what?”
“You butted into my fight. Nobody asked you to.”
Sirius’ eyebrows rose. “Re, he called you—”
“Yeah, I know what he called me,” Remus snapped, practically slamming the door to the parking lot closed. “I was there.”
The only reason you’re on this team is because you’re the captain’s whore, Snape had sneered. He bit the inside of his cheek as his anger flared at the memory. “I was just trying to help,” Sirius grumbled.
“Well, you didn’t. You proved his fucking point.”
“I didn’t prove shit!” Sirius scoffed as they got in the car. Immediately, Remus felt claustrophobic.
“I had it handled, Sirius!”
“You’re still bleeding!”
Remus ran his tongue along his lip—sure enough, the salty tang of blood filled his mouth. He swore under his breath and held his sleeve to his lip; his cheekbone throbbed and he knew it would be swollen in mere hours.
“Here.”
“I don’t need that.”
“You’d rather stain your sleeve than accept a tissue from me?”
“It’s a black sweatshirt, it’s fine.” Sirius muttered something. “Care to share with the class?”
Sirius sighed as he turned off the freeway. “I said it was your idea to keep these here in the first place. I don’t know why you’re being all pissy with me. We’ve lost games before.”
“I’m pissed because you don’t think I can handle myself in a fight.”
Sirius took his eyes off the road for a half second in shock. “Excuse me? Why do you think that?”
“I just told you!” Remus said, exasperated. “Snape was being a dick, so I punched him. I didn’t need your hero complex to swoop in and save the day.”
“Re, I didn’t even get a hand on him. Pots—”
“Oh, I’m pissed at him as well,” Remus snorted, staring out the passenger window at the blurry lights against the dark. “If someone calls me a whore, I’d rather get the message across that they can’t do it again.”
“Would you rather have gotten a penalty?”
“Yes.”
“That is unbelievably selfish.”
Remus laughed without humor. “Y’know, it’s really funny that you’ve never had this conversation with Logan, the king of the penalty box. Is it because he’s not a delicate flower like me?”
“Wh—” Sirius clenched his jaw and took a deep breath. “I don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about, Remus. I have never seen you as a—a delicate flower. For your information, I have chewed Logan out on multiple occasions.”
Remus gritted his teeth and trained his gaze firmly out the window. He heard Sirius sigh next to him and it took every ounce of willpower to keep his composure. The next ten minutes were dead silent and deeply uncomfortable, which was a rarity with them; even after losses, they would talk through the errors or try to lighten the mood.
Both of them closed their doors a little harder than necessary when they got to the house and Hattie trotted over hesitantly when they came inside. “Hey, Hatters,” Remus murmured, crouching down to her level and holding a hand out. She licked his cheek and let him bury his face in her thick fur—Sirius scratched her ears as he walked past. “Did you have a good time while we were out? Huh, baby girl?” He looked up and saw the tail end of Sirius’ eye roll. “What?”
“Nothing.”
“Don’t bullshit me, Sirius, it doesn’t work. I’m giving the dog a hug because I’m still pissed at you.”
“There is literally no good reason for you to be pissed at me!” Sirius finally said, tossing his keys into the bowl by the door. “Holy shit, Re, I don’t even think you’re mad at me!”
“Oh, yeah? Then who am I mad at, oh great and wise captain?” Remus practically spat, shouldering past him into the kitchen and wrenching a cabinet open. “Please enlighten me.”
“I wish I knew!”
Remus slammed the bread down on the counter and glared at him. “Then maybe you should shut the fuck up if you don’t have anything to support your claim.”
“Acting like this is a goddamn debate club isn’t helping. Your lip is bleeding again.”
“Fuck.” Remus ripped a paper towel off the roll and dampened it, holding it to his lip with a wince. Sirius opened the freezer and dug around for a moment with another paper towel. “I don’t remember you getting hit.”
“This is for you, you stubborn fucker,” Sirius said as he walked over and pressed it gently to the side of Remus’ face. “Better?”
“…a bit.”
The tension on Sirius’ face began to fade; he just looked concerned as he pulled the ice away and checked the bruise. “Your eye might swell.”
“Yeah.”
“Do you actually want to talk now, or should we yell a little more?”
Remus sighed and felt his anger abate. He was beyond exhausted, and still upset, but having Sirius nearby was like balm on a burn. “I don’t know.”
“I’m going to make some sandwiches. Hold this.” Sirius tapped the ice towel and moved to the abandoned loaf, grabbing some peanut butter and jelly as he went.
“I’m not hungry.”
“You need to eat something.”
“I’m fine.”
Sirius glanced over his shoulder and gave him a look. “I know you, Re. You’re not going to feel better unless you get some food, and neither will I.”
“I hate it when you’re reasonable.”
“No, you don’t.”
Remus’ lack of response was enough of an answer. The pain stretched to his forehead and he grimaced, prodding his lip cautiously. Sirius whistled for Hattie and spread the leftover peanut butter from the knife onto a clean spoon, holding it down for her to lick. A smile tugged the corner of Remus’ mouth. “Cute.”
“I can be cute on occasion.”
“You’re always cute.” There was a beat of quiet. “I’m sorry.”
“You’re forgiven. I’m sorry for yelling.”
“Not for interrupting the fight?”
“Nope.”
“That’s fair.” Something tickled at the back of Remus’ throat. “I fucking hate Snape.”
“Me, too.”
“Surprisingly enough, it feels pretty shitty to be called a whore. Who would’ve thought?”
Sirius turned and faced him, sleeves rolled to his elbows. His eyes were soft. “You know that’s not true, right?”
“Yeah.”
“Remus. What he said wasn’t true. You have nothing to prove to anyone on the team, least of all to me. You earned that spot on the roster fair and square, and Snape’s just freaked out because there’s another player who could grind him into the dust without breaking a sweat.” He stepped closer and leaned on the counter next to Remus, leaving a few inches between them. “I don’t think you’re a whore, if that means anything.”
Remus laughed softly. “Of all the people out there, I think you’re the only one who could reliably make that assumption.”
Sirius didn’t smile. “You’re my best friend and also my fiancé. The sex is a great bonus, but my favorite part of being with you is just being with you.”
“That doesn’t make any sense,” Remus muttered, though the sharp edges began to smooth in his gut. He closed the distance between them and laid his head on Sirius’ shoulder. “Love you.”
“I love you, too. Can I take a look at your lip?”
“Sure.” Remus peeled the towel away and Sirius bent slightly, poking the area around it. “Ouch.”
“That’ll probably take a week or so to heal. He got you good.”
Remus pouted. “No kisses for a week?”
Sirius did laugh that time, bright and sunny enough that Remus nearly made his lip bleed again with the answering smile. “I said nothing about no kisses.” Warm lips trailed from his unbruised cheekbone to the edge of his mouth, leaving tiny tingles in their wake.
“I really am sorry about what I said. You were right, I wasn’t angry with you, and I had no right to go off like that.”
Sirius shrugged. “It happens.”
“It shouldn’t.”
“Then let’s agree to talk first, bite heads off later, okay?” He held his pinky out and Remus linked it with his own, kissing it quickly.
“Deal. Are the sandwiches done? I’m starving.”
Wordlessly, Sirius handed him a sandwich and hopped up to sit on the counter, scooting over to make room for Remus to join him. They ate quietly, swinging their legs as the calmness of the kitchen crept back in once more.

The Five Minute Adventures of Snake Noir: Ch 3 - Best Laid Plans
Chapter 1: I Want It To Be You
Chapter 2: Best Friends
Chapter 3: Best Laid Plans
Chat Noir was wearing the snake miraculous this evening as he always did now, but he hadn’t activated it. Tonight, he needed Alya to remember he had been there. He landed on the balcony of Alya’s bedroom and peered into the room cautiously. He had never actually been here before, and wanted to confirm he was in the right place.
Sure enough, Alya was sitting at a computer across the room.
He tapped on the glass. She looked up, and her amber eyes widened when they landed on him. He waved. She got up immediately, and slipped through the sliding glass door.
“Sorry to drop in on you like this,” Chat said.
She smiled warmly. “To what do I owe the pleasure, Chat Noir?”
He couldn’t help the hand that went to the back of his neck. “Well, this might seem like it’s out of nowhere, but I was… kinda worried about Nino?”
Her eyes popped out of her head. Whatever she had been expecting, that had not been it. “What? Why?”
Read on Ao3
“Well, Hawkmoth has impersonated him twice now. Once as actual Nino and another as Bubbler. It seems like Nino has become a target. I just… if it was me, I would worry about my friends and family mistaking an imposter for me. And I would want to protect them.”
If anything, Alya’s eyes grew larger. “I don’t know if Nino was the target,” she whispered. “I think Hawkmoth is using him to get to me.”
Chat frowned. “Why would Hawkmoth be targeting you?”
“I… uh… I think he thinks I have a special connection with Ladybug… you know, because of the Ladyblog.”
Chat Noir nodded. “I suppose that makes sense.”
She sighed and leaned against the railing next to him.
“So what do we do?”
He stared out into the skyline. “I was thinking it would be fairly easy actually. You and him just need to set up some kind of call and response code. Something that only you and he know. You could tell him to do something similar with all the people he’s close to. And maybe you could do the same with people in your life… if you’re worried.”
She nodded. “That sounds good.” And then she considered him for a moment. “Why did you come to me instead of going to him directly?”
He tensed at the question. He had been rather hoping she wouldn’t ask that. Honestly, he could have mentioned it to him as Adrien, but he felt that Adrien had less reason to notice something was up with Nino, and Adrien didn’t exactly have the background to be thinking about threats constantly. His father hired people for that. And Alya and Nino - they were just super close - and seemed to communicate well. He just thought Nino would be more receptive if the idea came from his girlfriend. But it’s not like he could explain all that.
But maybe, he could explain some of it.
“Well… uh… I don’t know him?” he lied.  “But I do sort’ve know you. And I’m sure he would take it better coming from someone he knows and cares about rather than a random superhero.”
She scoffed. “You’re hardly some random superhero, Chat Noir.”
“Nice to know I have a fan,” he purred, waggling his eyebrows playfully.
She shoved him back with an eyeroll and he grinned. “Stop,” she scolded. “You know I have a boyfriend.”
He smoothed out his face and gave her a genuine smile. “You are both very lucky to have each other.”
She smiled. “I definitely think so. Thank you, Chat Noir. I appreciate you looking after my boyfriend this way.”
He gave her a two-fingered salute. “Of course! Just doing my job.” He was about to leave, but then he hesitated. “Do you have a pen and paper?” he asked.
“Uh… sure. Give me a second.” She slipped inside and returned with his requested items.
“If you run into any issues that need my attention, this is my username on the Ladyblog. You can DM me.”
She blinked at him, at the offered paper stupidly. “Oh my god!! You’re on my blog?!”
He grinned cheekily. “Of course! I am Ladybug’s biggest fan after all. And you seem to have the best scoops in that regard. I don’t know how you do it! Sometimes, it seems like you know her better than I do.”
She burst out laughing. “Well, a girl can’t give away all her secrets, now can she?”
He smiled again. “I suppose not,” he said. “Thank you, Alya.”
“No, thank you, Chat Noir.” She stepped forward and he stepped easily into the offered embrace. He squeezed her tightly.
“For what?” He pulled away.
She smiled sincerely. “For everything you do.”
He blushed at the praise. “Like I said. All in a day’s work. See you around, Ladyblogger!”
“See you, Chat Noir!”
And he launched himself back into the sky.
…
He should have gone back home. It’s what he had planned on. He had a history exam coming up next week that he wasn’t entirely prepared for, but he was already so close by, he couldn’t help, but want to check in on Nino. He would set the time loop, check in on how Nino was doing, reset it, and head home without Nino ever knowing he was there.
He landed in a crouch in Nino’s bedroom.
His friend was sitting on his bed, swiping through his phone. His golden eyes snapped towards Snake Noir the second he had landed. His eyes narrowed. He did not so much as crack a smile.
Something was wrong.
“Is there an akuma?” Nino bit out, his voice hard and unwelcoming.
Adrien shook his head. “No,” he said, and then frowned. “Dude, are you okay?”
“What do you want?” Nino demanded, ignoring his question entirely.
Snake Noir took a step backwards. “Nino?”
“I think you should leave,” Nino said, and turned his gaze away from his unexpected guest.
But Adrien didn’t want to leave. Not when Nino was so clearly upset. “Nino, it’s me. Adrien.”
Adrien expected Nino to soften and pull him into a hug like he had every time Adrien had revealed himself, or at least explain why the hell he was so upset. But that’s not what happened.
Nino eyes shot back towards him, wide with shock. “W-what?!” He took in a shaky breath. “Dude! How could you do this to me?!” Nino was screaming now. He had bolted to his feet.
Adrien took another step back, raising his hands in surrender. “Nino! What are you talking about?”
“Like you don’t know!” Nino snarled.
“I don’t know!” Adrien insisted.
“I think you should leave.”
“What?! Nino! Please! Can we talk about whatever this is?” Adrien begged.
“No! I don’t think we can.”
“Second chance,” Adrien mumbled to himself, and he was outside Nino’s window. He glanced at Nino’s slumped form sitting on the bed for just a second before vaulting upwards to the roof of the building.
He sat down on the tiled roof. What the hell had happened? Why did Nino hate him now? What had he done? Adrien’s hands were shaking even transformed. Nino was his rock, and now he felt adrift without that support.
He lost the transformation and pulled out his phone, and immediately dialed his best friend. It wasn’t Adrien he was mad at - at least, not until he knew Adrien and Chat Noir were the same person. But why the hell would Nino be angry with Chat Noir?
Nino immediately answered.
“Hey dude,” Nino greeted, his voice sullen.
“Nino, what’s wrong?”
Nino sighed. “I think Alya is cheating on me.”
“What?” The idea didn’t even compute, it was just too incomprehensible.
“With Chat Noir.”
“What?!” Adrien said again, more in shock.
“Dude, I don’t know what to do!”
And Adrien could hear Nino’s pain. He had to fix this. It was clearly a misunderstanding.
“I’m here,” Adrien told him. “Now, explain this to me from the beginning. Why do you think Alya is cheating on with you? And with Chat Noir?”
“She’s… been off for awhile now. I don’t know what’s going on, and I didn’t want to pry. She usually will tell me things when she’s ready. But she started missing a bunch of our dates, and her reasons… they don’t sound… right.”
“What does that mean?”
“It means… I think she’s lying.”
“Could there be any other explanation?”
“For the avoiding me and making weird excuses? Probably! But I saw her earlier today with Chat Noir.”
“Okay, did you see them kissing or something?” Adrien asked. He knew there hadn’t been anything to see. He had maybe flirted a tiny bit, but even then she had only rolled her eyes and chastised him.
“Nothing like that, really. But she was laughing. She was so at ease, open, and lively. And I… I haven’t seen her like that in… weeks.”
“Nino…” Adrien trailed off, uncertain what to say. “I don’t claim to know what’s going on with Alya, or why she’s been distant. But she wouldn’t do this to you.”
And neither would Chat Noir.
“You didn’t see them together!” Nino shouted, and Adrien had to pull the phone away from his face. “I know what I saw!”
Adrien’s phone buzzed. And he opens it to reveal a picture of Alya and Chat Noir in a hug.
“Nino, this…” how did he explain this wasn’t what it looked like? “There’s no way Alya would cheat on you. Not even with a superhero.”
Nino dissolved into tears. “I just don’t know anymore. She’s hiding something. And I don’t want to pry, but my mind just keeps going in these spirals and I don’t now how to get it to stop. I just can’t… help but wonder if she doesn’t love me anymore. And she’s always loved the heroes. It would be difficult to compete with a guy like that.”
“Nino, what are you talking about?!” Adrien asked, wanting to point out that Nino was a hero, too. “You’re a fantastic catch!”
“Sure, but he’s Chat Noir! Have you seen his butt in leather? And he’s funny! And… charming! And who even knows how many times he’s saved Paris!”
Adrien was grateful this wasn’t a video call, but he could still feel the heat from his cheeks to his ears.
“He flirts with everyone!” Nino continued.
Adrien stiffened. He didn’t flirt with everyone. But he had flirted a tiny bit with Alya earlier, but he hadn’t meant anything by it. He was just being friendly.
“He could totally steal away someone’s girlfriend!”
Whether or not that was true (and Adrien had his doubts), Adrien knew he would never do that.
“Or even someone’s boyfriend!”
Seriously?!
“Does Alya need to be worried about you coming on to Chat Noir?” Adrien interjected.
“What?! No! I would definitely put him in his place! I love Alya so much!”
“And she would do the same!” Adrien insisted.
Nino didn’t say anything. And a few seconds later, he realized Nino was crying. His visit to Alya had made Nino cry. He had only been trying to help. He had to fix this.
“Nino, I’m sorry,” he whispered. “I didn’t mean…” he trailed off sadly. He couldn’t truly say what he wanted to. Not without revealing himself. Which… he probably would have if Nino wasn’t so pissed specifically at Chat Noir.
“You don’t understand,” Nino sobbed. “Chat is not just some superhero to us.”
“He’s not?” Adrien asked cautiously. He really hoped this wasn’t going where he suspected it was going.
“Alya and I know him.”
“He has saved you both more than once,” Adrien said. Please, take the excuse. Please take the excuse.
“No!”
Adrien could hear Nino pulling his own hair out in frustration.
“That’s not what I mean,” Nino said. “Dude, can I tell you something? I’m not supposed to, but I’m going to lose it! I don’t know who else to talk to about any of this!”
Adrien squeezed his eyes shut. It didn’t really matter if Nino told him what he already knew, was it? But he knew Ladybug might feel differently about it.
Of course, he didn’t have to say anything to Ladybug. What was more thing he couldn’t talk about?
“You can trust me, Nino,” Adrien assured.
“Alya and I are superheroes, too.”
“You and Alya?” Adrien repeated, covering his face with the palm of his hand. How did he not see this coming?! Ladybug was going to kill him.
“She’s Rena Rouge. And I’m Carapace.”
Which made so much sense it wasn’t even funny. He was so close to losing it to hysterical laughter anyway.
Seriously, was everyone he knew a superhero? Who was next? His father?
“Please say something,” Nino begged and Adrien shook himself out of his thoughts.
“Wow,” Adrien said. “You’re a superhero! What’s that like?”
“Dude! I can’t even explain it. It’s exhilarating, and terrifying, and I don’t know how, out of everyone in all of Paris, Ladybug chose me to help her.”
Adrien smiled. Yeah, that was a pretty amazing feeling - the only fond memory he had as his time as Aspik.
“I mean, Alya showed me some footage of Anansi. You were pretty badass even without a miraculous. It doesn’t surprise me that Ladybug would recognize that.”
“Thanks, dude. That means a lot. I just… I don’t want to be mad at Chat Noir. He’s my friend.”
Adrien found himself tearing up.
“Or he was,” Nino added on. And Adrien sighed.
“Nino, this isn’t really about Chat Noir. This is about your relationship with Alya. Do you trust her?”
“I don’t want to be mad at Alya even more than I don’t want to be mad at Chat Noir.”
“Have you talked to her about any of this?”
“Have you talked to her about any of this?”
“No,” Nino admitted.
“I’m telling you, Alya loves you. She wouldn’t do this. Not even a superhero who she happens to work with or be friends with. You’re her hero.”
“You really think so?”
Adrien snorted. “Yeah man, I really do. Will you please go talk to her before you make assumptions.”
“I don’t know where to start,” Nino said.
Adrien thought for a second. “You could probably start with what you told me. Tell her that you feel like she’s been avoiding you. See what she says.”
Nino laughed. “You don’t think I should start with accusations?”
“I mean…” Adrien hedged. He wasn’t going to lie. He was definitely scared of Alya. Just a little bit. “I wouldn’t?”
Nino laughed. He actually laughed, and Adrien breathed a sigh of relief. “Alright dude. Thanks for talking me off the cliff. I’ll call her now, and see if we can meet up.”
The call ended and Adrien stood up, hoping that Nino’s conversation with Alya went well. He knew that hug had been her thanking him. Surely, she would explain and everything would be fine.
He transformed and ran across rooftops anyway. He wouldn’t be able to stand it if Nino hated half of his identity. He wouldn’t be able to visit anymore, even with the snake.
Adrien had to have faith in Alya. It would be okay.
…
Nino knocked on the door. Etta answered. Or maybe it was Ella. Honestly, Nino hasn’t learned to tell them apart yet, and today, it wasn’t his highest priority.
“Alya! Your nerdy boyfriend is here!”
“Hey! Be nice!” Alya chastised her younger sister. And then she pushed her back into the room as she came out on the patio, closing the door behind her.
The beaming smile she offered him went a long way toward soothing his tortured feelings. Adrien was probably right, but there was still an inkling if doubt that he couldn’t quite quash. He managed a weak smile back. She deserved more.
“Nino! I was just about to call you!”
“You were?”
“You won’t believe who paid me a visit earlier today?!” She told him, her voice literally oozed with excitement.
“Chat Noir?” he guessed, unable to keep the hurt out of his voice.
Her eyebrows furrowed together. “How’d you know?”
He pulled out his phone, and flipped to the picture. “I was on my way to visit you.” He squeezed his shoulder, trying to reassure himself.
She took the device from him eagerly, her smile only widening. “This is such a good shot! I’m so happy you caught it!”
“You are?” And he might have sounded a little accusatory. He was trying to clamp down on it, and not start with accusations like Adrien said.
She glanced at him, startled. And for the first time, she seemed to sense something was off. “Nino? What’s wrong?”
“Okay, so this might seem ridiculous, but what does Chat Noir mean to you?”
Her eyes narrowed for a second, and then went wife as she rapidly connected dots. “Oh my god! Are you serious right now?! You think that I would do that to you?” Her eyes had returned to hard narrow slits; she was pissed!
But for the first time in his life, Nino was thrilled that she was furious with him. Her anger put to rest all her fears. “I’m sorry,” he said. “It’s just you’ve been so… distracted lately. And you’ve bailed on several of our dates and it feels like when I ask you dodge the question.”
She softened. And he barreled forward.
“I didn’t know what to think! I was actually coming over to talk to you about it when I saw you so... umm... friendly with Chat Noir. And I just… I haven’t seen you that open and happy in awhile. So I can’t help but wonder if I’ve done something wrong?”
He was wringing his hands. He didn’t even realize how much he was hurting himself until she took both his hands in hers and rubbed soothing circles with her thumbs onto the back of his hands.
“You’ve done nothing wrong,” she murmured, her eyes staring straight at him. “I’m sorry. I have been distracted, but it wasn’t anything to do with us. It’s just a bunch of Marinette stuff. And… she didn’t want me to talk about it with anyone, and it’s all driving me crazy, so I just… am having a hard time being completely there the rest of the time.”
“But… you looked so happy when… Chat Noir was there.”
“Nino! He’s a superhero! And I run a superhero themed blog! I get a little fan girly, it’s true.”
She pulled him into a hug. And he melted into her arms.
“The truth is,” she murmured into his ear, “I feel like I don’t have to pretend around you. I didn’t mean to push you away or out. I was feeling overwhelmed and crazy and around you, I thought I could just be low and it would still be okay.”
His arms tightened around her. His eyes were burning with threatened years. “I’m sorry I doubted you. Doubted us. I want to be able to be a place where you can be less than one hundred percent and still feel loved and supported. I’m sorry I didn’t live up to that.” And he was horrified that his voice cracked on his last word.
She pulled away just a bit, and pressed her forehead to his. “I didn’t tell you that to make you feel guilty. I told you that because I love you. And next time I’m feeling detached, I will try to tell you so you don’t have to worry or wonder.”
He leaned forward and kissed her, letting the last of his hurt roll off his shoulders. “I love you so much.”
She smiled, and kissed him again. “I love you, too.”
They hugged, and Nino just let himself stay wrapped up in her familiar embrace.
At least until she pulled away with furrowed eyebrows. “Chat Noir was here like… hours ago. I only didn’t call you immediately because I had to watch the twins. Have you been stewing in this that whole time?”
Heat bloomed across his face, and he wanted to duck his head behind his hat, but this was Alya. He didn’t want to hide from her. “Yeah… I was really upset,” he admitted. “I assumed the worst, and kinda wanted to track down Chat Noir and start a fight!”
“Nino!”
He held up his hands. “I know. I know. But Adrien called me at like the perfect time, and he kinda talked me down. He was insistent that you loved me and that you would never cheat on me.”
“I’ll have to thank him,” she said, smiling.
“You and me both,” he said. Then started fidgeting with the brim of his hat. “So… ummm… am I out of line if I ask what you and Chat Noir were talking about?”
“I was going to tell you anyway! Before you freaked out on me! But yes, if you must know, we were talking about you!”
Nino blinked for a minute. “What? Me?”
“He was worried about you.”
His eyebrows scrunched together. Chat Noir was worried about him? And here Nino had been thinking the worst of the superhero. “But why?”
Alya reached out for his hand, and their fingers were quickly threaded together. “He was worried at how much Hawkmoth has been targeting you, that he has been impersonating you. He thought that maybe it might happen again, and he was worried about how it might be affecting you mentally.. He suggested I get you to come up with some call and response passwords with the people in your life, so you could protect yourself and your loved ones.”
Nino’s eyes could not get wider. “Really?” How had he completely misjudged the whole situation that badly. Chat Noir wasn’t trying to steal his girl at all - the hero was trying to look out for him and her by extension. Instead, the hero was like, reading his mind, and coming up with ways for Nino to address his fears head on.
“Really,” Alya said.
“Why did he go to you instead of me?” he asked. He felt so sheepish and embarrassed, and a tad bit guilty.
She shrugged. “Honestly, I think it’s just because he knew where I lived.”
Nino laughed, and pulled her to him once again. His head rested on her shoulder. “Tell me that you love me.”
“I love you,” she said, her tone smiling even if he couldn’t see her face.
“How much?”
“More than a superhero.”
He grinned. “That should be our call and response code.”
She rolled her eyes. “If it makes you feel better.”
“But only if I ask you to tell me you love me, or vice versa. We don’t want other people to overhear it.”
She nodded sagely in agreement. “Sounds good.”
“I’m sorry I was an idiot.” “You’re my idiot.”
And she lifted his head, and then she was kissing him.
He smiled against her lips, his hands snaking around her waist.
He really was a lucky guy.
Chat Noir sat across on a rooftop across the street from Nino’s empty bedroom. His legs were kicking back and forth in a way that would have seemed playful to anyone that didn’t know him well, but actually was a sign of how anxious he felt.
He breathed in a deep sigh of relief when Nino returned to the room with a huge grin plastered on his face. As soon as Nino had closed his bedroom door, Chat launched himself across the street and into the room, landing with his trademark thud.
Nino looked up at him in surprise. “Ch-Chat Noir! Uh… hey!”
“Hi Nino,” Adrien said, his voice subdued.
It was silent, and Adrien didn’t know what he was waiting for. He had come here with the intention of clearing the air. He hadn’t even transformed with the snake. He wanted to come clean. He spun the ring around his finger. This would be it. Nino was going to know who he was, and he wouldn’t be able to take it back. And he didn’t even know why he was nervous. He had told Nino dozens of times at this point, and his reaction had always been rock solid.
Well, except for the last time.
Maybe that was the problem.
“So… uh… Alya, didn’t seem to think you knew where I lived. I’ll have to tell her that she was mistaken,” Nino said.
Adrien nodded. “I may have led her to that conclusion. If it’s all the same to you, I’d appreciate it if you didn’t rat me out.”
Nino frowned. “Is there a reason you don’t want her to know?”
“There is actually, but I can’t explain it yet. Maybe later?”
“You’re being awfully cryptic tonight, dude.”
Chat rubbed the back of his neck. “Yeah, I’m just a bit nervous.”
Nino stared at him, his eyes blinking in shock. “You’re nervous? Why?!”
“You seemed pretty pissed at me earlier today.”
Nino frowned. “How do you even know about that?”
Chat’s gaze dropped again. “I may have cheated?”
“Huh?”
“I’m wearing the snake miraculous.”
“That’s the one that creates a time loop?”
Chat Noir nodded.
Nino eyed him up and down. “You don’t look any different than normal.”
“I haven’t activated it yet, but I’ve been using it to, well, cope, I guess would be the best word.” Chat Noir trailed off.
“Cope? Cope with being a superhero?” Nino guessed.
“Yeah, it allows me to confide in someone without anyone remembering. And honestly, you’ve been really supportive the last few weeks. You have no idea.”
Nino’s brows furrowed in confusion. “What? But I don’t…”
“Remember? Yeah, I know you don’t. That’s what I’m saying.”
“But you’re not transformed now, so that means I’m going to remember this conversation.”
Chat nodded.
“So, what’s different about today that I get to remember?”
“I just… the last visit made me realize that I wanted you to know this was happening. I want you to remember giving me permission to do this.”
“I’ve given you permission to do this before?”
Chat nodded again. “I realize the why might not make sense to you, but you did.”
“Why me?”
Chat Noir looked up with a small smile. “What? Don’t think you’re good enough?”
“That’s not what I meant! It’s not everyday that you learn that you are the secret confidant of one of Paris’s superheroes and don’t even know it!”
“Because you’re definitely good enough! You saved me from being akumatized like I don’t know how many times.”
Nino frowned. “We’re not like having a secret affair or something are we?”
Chat laughed. “Umm… no, but you know, I’m beginning to think you have a crush on me.”
Nino blushed. “It’s a celebrity crush!” he defended. “Leave me alone! I didn’t know that we knew each other outside of akumas that well.”
“Well, I’d like to explain everything to you if that’s okay. Clear the air so to speak.”
“On a timer? Or without?”
Chat took in a deep breath. “You choose.”
“What do you want?”
“I really want you to remember this time, but it might be dangerous.”
“Dude! As you totally already know, I’m already a target of Hawkmoth.”
“Which is probably a reason I shouldn’t let you remember this. Which is part of the reason you let me erase your memory over and over again.”
Nino frowned. “How often have we uh… done this?”
Chat Noir winced. “Ummm… I don’t know?”
“Shit dude. That’s…” Nino looked away. “Answer one question for me without giving away the thing you’re worried about?”
“Anything.”
“Why did I agree to it the first time?”
Adrien thought about it for a moment. What could he say?
“You saw me have a breakdown where I was likely to be akumatized. I needed to talk to someone, but it wasn’t safe for me to talk about any of it without literally risking the world. You told me not to leave this room until I was okay.”
“And would you be risking the world by telling me now?”
Chat gripped the back of his neck. “Ummm… I don’t think so?”
“Dude! That’s not reassuring.”
Chat’s claws tore through his hair. “Yeah… you’re right. We can do it the other way. I’ll transform and set the timer, and explain everything. Then with context, you can make an informed decision about whether you want to remember or not. But either way, now you’ll at least remember that this is something that happens on the regular. You won’t bite my head off or assume that I’m trying to steal your girl when I’m talking to her.”
“Thank you for that by the way.” Nino’s voice is small. And embarrassed.
“For what?”
“Talking to my girl? Apparently you were worried about me?”
“Yeah…”
“I’m sorry,” Nino said. “For assuming the worst.”
Chat Noir shook his head. “It’s fine.” He wasn’t sure if it was, but he understood now why Nino had reacted the way he had. “I’m used to far worse.”
“That doesn’t make me feel better, dude,” Nino told him, his eyes staring at him with a concern that Adrien was far too familiar with.
He pasted on a bright smile. “Well, let’s get this show going, yeah?”
“Sure,” Nino said, taking a seat on the edge of his bed. “What do I need to do?”
Chat grinned. “Don’t worry about it, man. I got it covered. Sass, Plagg, unify!”
Nino put a hand over his eyes to block out the light. “Woah, dude. That’s quite the light show.”
Snake Noir laughed. “Second chance.”
“Alright mec, lay it on me,” Nino said.
Snake Noir took in a deep breath, and then looked right at Nino. “I’m Adrien.”
Nino paled. “What?”
“I’m Adrien,” he said again.
Nino’s eyes were as wide as the Seine. “Dude! You came here earlier when I was pissed at Chat Noir?”
“Yeah.”
“Please tell me I didn’t hit you,” Nino said, his eyes never leaving Adrien’s masked face.
Adrien frowned. “You didn’t hit me. Were you worried that you might’ve?”
“With where my head was at? I definitely wanted to punch you. Chat Noir, you, I mean.” Nino cringed. “I guess… that’s not much better.”
Adrien tried to smile, but didn’t pull it off. “Your… umm… hostility toward me was a bit of a shock,” Adrien conceded.
Nino snorted.
“I just… I think I had gotten used to your… easy acceptance. I realize that I took it for granted.”
“Dude! Stop! I was definitely in the wrong this time. And I’m sorry.”
Adrien smiled. “It was just a misunderstanding.”
“This is how you knew to call me?”
Adrien nodded.
“I’m so sorry! I never meant to lay into you about… well, you! I just kept thinking about things being off with Alya, and obsessing over how I was supposed to compete with a superhero.”
Snake Noir bumped Nino’s shoulder. “But Nino, you are a superhero, too.” And then his head hung. “And we all have doubts.”
“Dude, are you okay?”
“Not really,” he admitted. “The whole reason Ladybug gave me the snake was so that I could confide in her, but I haven’t really done that. I keep using it to talk to you.”
“Why can’t you talk to Ladybug.”
“I can! And I can’t. So much of what I want to say is about her and that just makes it awkward. And every time I tell her who I am she starts crying.”
Nino’s brow furrowed. “She has better not be disappointed!”
Chat shook his head. “No! I don’t think so. I think she’s sad that she has to forget.”
“Why exactly does she have to forget?” Nino asked.
“Us knowing each other’s identities apparently led to the end of the world.” It was getting easier to say.
Nino starred at him flatly. “What. What do you mean, end of the world?”
Chat threw his hands up in frustration. “I don’t know! I didn’t see it. She did! But apparently, I was akumatized and had the power of unlimited destruction, and blew up not just the earth, but the moon as well!”
And yeah, maybe it was getting easier to say, but Adrien was shaking in agitation.
Nino considered him for several seconds before finding his voice. “Dude. That is… heavy.”
Snake Noir slumped down on the floor. “You’re telling me.”
“I’m glad you’ve been able to come here,” Nino finally said. “I cannot imagine going through this alone.”
“I don’t know how I can ever thank you,” Adrien admitted.
Nino pulled him into a sideways hug. “You don’t have to. That’s what friends are for.”
“Little did I know, you taking pity on me for having Chloé as my only friend was one of the luckiest days of my life.”
“Ha! I’m glad you have more options now.”
Adrien smiled. “So, what do you say? Is this something you want to remember?”
Nino nodded. “If you want me to know, I want to know.”
“Even if it puts you in more danger?”
“Dude! Do you think it’s possible for me to be in more danger at this point?”
“Nino, I destroyed the world. Not Hawkmoth.”
Nino frowned. “Now, that’s where you’re wrong. You said you were akumatized. That’s all on Hawkmoth.”
“I doubt Hawkmoth’s goal was to destroy the world,” Adrien said softly.
“Which just means, you must have broken from his control or something.”
“To destroy the world?” Adrien asked sarcastically.
Nino placed a hand on either of Adrien’s shoulders. “Dude, look at me.”
Adrien looked up.
“I’m not going to lie. Seeing you transformed as Snake whatever with Adrien’s brooding face is majorly trippy.”
Adrien laughed. “Sass, scales rest. Plagg, claws in.” And in a burst of light, he was just Adrien sitting on his best friend’s bed.
“You were saying?” Adrien prompted when Nino continued to just stare at him in shock.
Nino seemed to shake himself lose. “Right! I’m saying this once and I will say it as many times as you need to hear it. You don’t really know what happened in that timeline. Like you said, you didn’t see it. And, you haven’t destroyed the world. Just look outside, you can see it!”
Adrien opened his mouth to argue, but Nino silenced him with a waggling finger. “No, dude! I know what you’re thinking, but I know you. You would never destroy the world if you were in control of yourself. You are too good. Too pure for this world. And you’re fucking Chat Noir! You literally throw yourself into death’s jaws like every week to protect everyone. I will not let you feel guilty for all of time for something you haven’t even done.”
Adrien watched Nino through his monologue, unable to help the smile that stretched across his face. “Are you done?”
“That depends. Are you still beating yourself up?”
Adrien smirked. “I’m feeling better at the moment actually, but I don’t promise I never will again.”
“Well, you just have to promise to come back whenever you’re feeling that way.”
Adrien offered an open hand at chest level, and Nino clapped his own hand into it, and they pulled each other into a hug. “Deal, as long as you promise to talk to your girlfriend whenever you’re having doubts.”
“What? I can’t talk to you about my girlfriend?”
“I mean, you can! You can talk to me about anything.”
“Oh my god! You’re Chat Noir!”
“Uh, yeah?”
“And I’m Carapace.”
“Yeah, you gave that away in like my second loop.”
“We can literally talk about anything,” Nino concluded.
Adrien smiled again. “I guess we can now. I hope you don’t come to regret that.”
“Dude!” Nino squealed. “This is going to be so cool!”

Shadow From The Window (Leonardo)
Tumblr media
Imagine your scared of the dark and alone, but your sexy hero-in-the-half-shell comes to sleep at your side, after a long partol. Exausted, he forgets how easy you startle, and comforts you.
(SFW but blushy, leaning Fem!Reader/ but also gender-neutral, Bayverse Leo, no swearing, FLUFF, a lil spooky at the start but all sweet and completely handle-able. Its safe 💙)
(So, this is my first official post here and I'm so excited! First of all, HI EVERYONE! I'm so happy to have found my peoples and to be here uwu, I love you all. Hopefully, this brings you comfort to rest before bed, or in the middle of the night. Want me to do one for all the boys? Lemme know!💙)
I am writing this at 2-3 am, after imagining this scenario to comfort myself, settling down to rest. The thought of Leo hiding in the dark, makes the dark a lot less scary. (Tho I decided to write it instead of resting lol) LETS GET IT!
Its 3 am in your studio apartment.
You've been living in New York city for a while now, but its always been a hassle to fall asleep in your own place. That's been the hardest adjustment after leaving home... how scary it can be on your own. Truth be told, you're 'scared of the dark'. Not nescessarily scared of the darkness itself, but the shadows in the corner of the room... the random noises and things that go bump in the night... the mere thought in the back of your mind that something, as ridiculous as it sounds to others, will come and get you once your guard is down.
There you lied, stiff as a board on your back. The covers, pulled up to your neck, as you breathed in and out as silently as you could. Why did you still feel like you had to hide from monsters or bad guys in your own home? "Dang it, y/n..." you sighed, wiping the nervous cold sweat from your forehead, overheating internally from the anxiety.
"WHY... why did I have to watch that horror movie with Donnie?" You thought, internally shouting at yourself. "He said its not scary, that its 'too absurd to be plausible, and thus won't trigger a reaction of fear'. So much for a slow and steady introduction to the genre!"
You should have known when Raph said "Nope, I'm out." Donnie sat there the whole time, laughing at the movie at the scariest and most ill-timed moments... and you recall just glaring at him, teeth chattering, whispering to yourself:
"Yeah, he's cracked alright."
Just because something isn't scientifically proven, doesn't mean it can't happen... or hasn't happened, right?
"Ugh..." you groaned, curling your lips into a gremace, scared your groan was too loud amongst the unsettling silence. "I can't sleep with the lights on again..."
Glancing toward your phone, you noticed a blue light illuminate the screen, informing you that you got a new text. But that blue light... it instantly made you think of the blue-loving turtle you so dearly loved. The light of your life.
'Leo would protect me.'
Ah, that comforting reminder that you would feel so safe in your boyfriend's arms... if only he were here with you.
But... he wasn't. He was probably out on patrol, far away, and unable to come any time soon, even if he could.
"That's it." You said, taking and deep breath and mustering up all of your courage, throwing the covers off and dashing to the light switch.
*flick!* And... everything in the room was normal. It was comforting, but you scolded yourself for not accepting that everything was already secure, and nothing was lurking in the dark.
Everything was still, as you closed your curtains and lied back down in bed.
"Light on it is." You sighed, before the light suddenly flickered by itself.
"Oh crap-" you muttered, taking a gulp, as the power went out. "OH CRAP, ITS JUST LIKE THE MOVIE-"
Now, you felt screwed. You lied as still as possible, for what felt like forever, refusing to close your eyes. Dang it... DANG it!
Grabbing your phone light, you quickly tip-toed to the bathroom, trying to pee as fast as you could, so you could get back to your warm bed where it feels semi-safe.
As soon as you opened the bathroom door, you noticed your curtains flowing and twirling in the night wind. Street sounds from the never-sleeping city below echoed faintly through your widely-opened window.
"My window... is open?" You thought in horrified shock, examining your surroundings in the dark carefully.
You froze in your tracks, as your phone light turned itself off.
BATTERY TOO LOW TO USE FLASHLIGHT, PLEASE CHARGE.
A chill went down your spine, as you stood there in the center of everything, slowly backing to a corner, where you planned to crouch in the fetal position, so you could see all angles of the room for the rest of the night.
You took another step back, and another, before you bumped into a large mass, standing behind you.
'Not the wall...' your brain registered, feeling the heat of whomever or whatever this tall thing was, radiating against your back.
"Hello, beautiful~" A deep voice chuckled, startling you.
Jolting around, you saw a dark, tall shadow, looming before you.
The fear disoriented you, quickly rushing adrenaline through your body, as your fight or flight reacted. You quickly let out a shriek, chucking your dying phone at the shadow and darting quickly toward the window.
The shadow caught the phone instantly, with lightning fast reflex, as a large hand suddenly wrapped around your wrist, gently yet firmly pulling you back into the room before you crawled out onto the fire escape.
"WHOA, hey hey! Y/N easy! Its okay." A gentle, farmiliar voice assured, gently pulling you around to face him. "Its just me!"
"L-let go!" You whimpered, still not realizing who it was. "P-please..."
"Hey, its me..." he softly whispered, as your breath began to steady, blinking a couple of times as his identity fully set in. "Shh, sh sh sh." He lulled.
"L-Leo?" You squeaked in disbelief.
The figure slowly leaned into the moonlight, casting over you from the open window, revealing his GORGEOUS, icy blue eyes. Those intense-yet-soft eyes... that you knew and loved more than anyone else's. That comforting, strong, lovingly soft gaze, that instantly reassured you that you were safe.
"Your aim is getting better," he softly chuckled, smirking with his adorable grin. Leo slowly slid your phone before you, onto the moonlit sheets, barely revealing his outstretched, chiseled, manly hands. "I'm so sorry I scared you, love. I didn't mean to... I would never on purpose..."
Leo's voice sounded composed, but also ashamed and regretful, as he became more serious to apologise. He always spoke so softly to you...
"Leo, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to, I-" you desparately assured, bursting into tears. "I-"
"Hey hey, I should have knocked, or called. I'm sorry I scared you, sweetheart. I thought I would suprise you in a good way, not startle you." He murmured, reaching his large hands out to gently grasp you, holding you in his arms.
"Oh... I'm so happy to see you!" You sighed, falling against him.
"Donnie felt bad about that scary movie, he told me about how scared you were and begged me to check on you." He whispered, with that composed, reassuring voice.
"Oh Leo... you really came." You whispered, sniffling back your tears.
"Of course, my love... I came straight here after patrol. I would have come sooner, but Raph was getting his shell handed to him by this big..." he hesitated, biting his lip.
"Leo?" You asked, wondering why he stopped.
"-You know what? It doesn't matter." He gently corrected, changing the subject.
"What? What was it?" You innocently asked, curling up against his warm, sculpted chest.
You could feel Leo's skin grow warmer with a blush, as he slowly and sweetly welcomed your embrace, holding you close.
"I'll tell you during daylight. Just... sweetie, I'll never let anything bad happen to you, as long as I live. You're safe, whether I'm near or far. Okay, sweetheart?" Leo promised with his deep innocent voice, planting a soft kiss against your forehead.
Suddenly, you heard a generator power on through your front door, and the power flicked back on.
You could at last see him. See his muscled arms around you, and the tails of his worn out blue mask resting against his chest, along side you. His plastron... rising and falling as he took in slow breaths.
Leo was so careful holding you in his arms... like you were this precious, tiny thing, that he adored with his entire existance.
"Hey, you... you there?" He muttered, growing increasingly bashful in his tension.
"I'm here." You gently assured with a smile, before pulling away to examine his handsome face.
Leonardo. Sexy, handsome, justly-confident, fierce leader. This fearless, giant turtle mutant, who was unlike anyone else in the world. His jaw clenched from sudden bashful nervousness, as his gaze shyed away from your eyes. Your stare always overwhelmed him... it was such an intimate thing to meet his eyes.
Leo cleared his throat, as he slowly reached out to your face, ever-so-carefully wiping away a tear from your cheek, watching intently and focusing as he did so.
Over cautiously gentle so he wouldn't risk hurting you with his strength.
"There we go..." he softly whispered in satisfaction, sighing with a relieved smirk.
"Can you..." you began, with every ounce of security and confidence you could muster. "Can you... stay? With me, all of tonight?"
You felt your cheeks blush intensely, blooming red, as Leo bit on his bottom lip. His eyes widened, as he fully realized your question.
"Y-yeah, o-of course I can..." Leo answered, all of a sudden a thousand times more innocent and adorable, intensely flattered and touched that you wanted him to stay at your side. "Uh... I'll... uh-" he began, moving back from kneeling on your bed before you, aimlessly pacing into your tiny kitchen.
Leo usually was so bold and certain, organized and authoritative, when he was on the move.
You recalled how you had seen first-hand how he can lay out the strategy of attack for the boys. He could be flipping into action, or running through the rooftops as he did it, with perfect coordination in his speech and movements. But with you and only you, Leo wasn't able to get the words out when he was this nervous or bashful.
He had a tendancy to overthink things.
Tumblr media
Leo wandered into the cupboard, beginning to steep some tea on the stove as his tongue caught up with his brain.
"Do you want... tea?" He gently asked, clearing his throat.
Such husband material...
"Ah, sure." You grinned, sweetly answering.
You realized how safe and secure you felt now, with him in the studio. You weren't alone anymore.
Leo didn't say much while he prepared the tea. He hyper-focused to distract himself from the nervousness of staying at your place, ALONE with you for the night. He paced around without speaking... doing little thoughtful things, like closing the window and locking it for you, shutting the closet and bathroom door, and picking out the perfect cups for the two of you, from your DC glass cup collection.
(Leo liked the Nightwing one since it was blue, and he always gave you the batgirl one, because you loved purple. He loved it when you would geek out and tell him how those heroes were the perfect couple... it reminded him of the both of you, and hoped that you gushed about him like that when he wasn't around.)
Leo brought the cups over, moving carefully with his eyes on the glass, gently placing one in your hand, and his own at your bedside.
"I"ll sleep right here, beside you." He thought out loud, examining the hardwood floor panels.
"Ah, Leo, you're not sleeping on the ground." You ordered, taking a long drink from your cup.
"Its no trouble," he assured, unlatching and taking off his belt and sword straps, placing them on your countertop. Leo sat down across from your bed, and began taking off his customized traditional ninja footwear, so all that remained were his pants and mask.
Why did this make you blush and get so flustered, the way he lifted those muscular arms over his head? Its not like he's taking anything revealing off...
"Modest like Leo... modest like Leo..." you whispered under your breath, recomposing your wandering thoughts.
He slowly walked up to you, lying you back and pulling your covers over you. Leo gently placed his hand against your cheek, staring deep into your eyes, as a soft smile rested over his lips.
He slowly nuzzled his nose beside yours, cherishing every small movement, before planting a soft kiss on your forehead. Then, he pulled away.
You felt your arms involuntarily reach out to him, taking his face into your hands. You both stared innocently into one another's eyes, before you made a bold move, planting your lips against his. You gently kissed Leo's lips, and he kissed you back, in the most respectful, admirable, and sentimental way possible.
Kissing Leo always felt so intimate and special... even as soft and innocent as it was. Leo made the tiny gestures special to you again.
"Leo, would you please... hold me?" You whispered, tightly closing your eyes and resting your forehead against his. "Please, sleep with me tonight."
"S-sleep with-" he panicked, turning vibrant red. For the first time that night, he realized that you were wearing blue pj's... and you looked gorgeous in them. Suddenly his heart began to pound through his chest, as his posture stiffened. "Sleep... together? Like... m-make love together?"
"Ah not like that!" You bashfully assured, unable to hide your shy grin. "Just... sleep together, at least for tonight."
He took a deep breath in, that sounded shaky, like the remenants of your kiss and closeness gave him the chills. The thought of you being together in the most close and intimate form made him overwhelmed, causing him to slightly tremble. Leo invoulintarily giggled, pecking a kiss against your nose, before he pulled his mask off.
"Alright." He grinned, suddenly much more eager and confident, leaning close to you as he set his mask on your night stand, switching off the light switch with a mere stretch.
Suddenly, it was dark again. But, a peaceful dark.
"Will you, Leo?" You muttered.
"Yes." He whispered, so softly and so intimately, gazing bravely into your eyes. "Yes, Y/N."
You beamed with joy, resituating to the side of your bed, curling up and watching Leo with an adorable, excited expression. Leo broke out a nervous, adorable chuckle, as he hesitantly sat down on your bed, realizing how massive he was on the size of it. He downed his tea like a shot, (wanting to finish it as fast as possible, so he could do this soft and intimate thing with you) and clearing his throat. Blushing, he slowly lied down on his back, slowly turning to his side that faced you, and hesitantly placing his hand over your shoulder, unsure of what was too much touch.
You giggled, sliding his hand on your waist, so you could sit up and pull the covers over him. "O-oh..." Leo murmured, stiffening up from his shyness.
This was very overwhelming to him, since he really liked taking things slow and was inexperienced to everything involving romance before you. But... you loved that. It was like everything was new to you again too. It endeared you beyond belief.
You lied on your side, examining his face one last time, as he examined yours, trailing your fingertip across his sharp jawline.
"I really love you..." he whispered, meaning every word.
"I really love you too, Leo." You softly agreed, as you continued to smile.
You and Leo talked quietly for a bit, sweet whispers between soulmates, as you scratched his shell and caressed his shoulders to help relieve his stress and tension. He would slowly drift off more and more, talking less and less, gifting you with tiny, soft, slow kisses, all over your face instead.
You both drifted off to sleep, and slept wonderfully side by side, as safe and sweet as can be, just the two of you.
And, as you found out in the morning, Leo was a total, clingy cuddler in his sleep. Throughout the night, he had nuzzled closer and closer, wrapping his arms around you and cradling you, until you were cozy against his body, sharing the same warmth.
💙 Sweet dreams.💙

I felt my heart threaten to jump out of my chest as we both stood motionless. Niall's eyes met mine and I shook my head slightly.
"No..." I whispered, suddenly finding back the use of my legs and taking the few steps separating me from the buttons. "Fuck, no."
I started hitting all the buttons as my heart was racing until I felt Niall's presence next to me. He put his hands over mine to stop me and grabbed my fingers, pulling gently on them to make me turn around.
"Devon.."
I looked up in his eyes and for a reason I ignored, it calmed me immediately. I blinked a few times, barely believing that once again, I was stuck somewhere with Niall, and I was starting to wonder if it wasn't a joke from fate. Someone out there was probably having a laugh from locking us together and I just closed my eyes and sighed.
I was trying to sober up but it wasn't easy, and when I opened my eyes again, I could swear I saw anxiety the way Niall was looking at me. He gripped my fingers tighter and all the anger I felt towards him faltered, almost disappearing.
"Okay, I'll call Lewis."
He let go of my hands, making my arms fall on each sides of my body as I watched him. Quickly, he grabbed his phone from his pocket, almost drpping it, and composed a number after putting his phone on speaker. It took half a minute for Lewis to answer, and I was feeling more and more nervous with every ring.
"Maaate, where are you? It's complete darkness here! Even the lights outside are off."
Niall glanced up at me before looking back down at his phone and licked his lips. I didn't know if it was the alcohol running in my veins but I ended up staring at his mouth for way too long and took a step closer.
"Okay you need to call your landlord, I'm literally stuck in the elevator." Niall quickly explained, ignoring everything his friend told him.
"You are?" Lewis asked before bursting into laughter. "What were you even doing there?"
This time, Niall looked up in my eyes and his lips parted. "I'm.. I'm here with Devon."
"Wait wait, you're stuck in the elevator with Devon?"
Once again, he started laughing so loud I actually moved my upper body slightly back, as if it would change anything. Niall just rolled his eyes and sighed, waiting for him to stop laughing.
"Come on, just call your landlord will you?"
"Everyone here started doing nasty things everywhere in the dark." Lewis added with a chuckle. "And Mandy is looking for you."
My heart dropped in my chest and Niall's gaze moved away from mine, avoiding it. "Lewis, you know I can't stay here okay, call someone. I don't care if it's the fucking police okay? You get someone to make that fuckin' elevator work again!"
Once again, his words hurt me more than they were supposed to. Was being locked with me that bad that he couldn't handle it even just a few minutes? Or was he just too impatient to go find Mandy?
"Yea yea, no worries, i'm on it. I'll text you about it." Lewis replied as I took a few steps back slowly and leaned again the wall. He started laughing again and I heard Niall sigh for a second time. "I can't believe you're stuck there with Devon! This is the most hilarious shit that happened tonight!"
I didn't understand why it was so funny but perhaps Lewis was just too drunk to be coherent, or I was too drunk to get the joke.
"Yea. Hilarious." Niall let out sarcastically.
"Oh hey mate while you're there, maybe you could tell Devon about-"
I held my breath when Niall took off the speakers and brought his phone to his ear before turning his back to me. It made me frown, wondering what Lewis was about to say that was so bad that Niall didn't want me to hear. Was he asking Niall to tell me how much I annoyed him? If that was the case, it was clearly not necessary. I knew I had been annoying Niall since day 1 and I probably always would. It was true, he has actually been kind with me in the past 24 hours and I was still not sure why, but he had been rude and mean to me way more often than not. Of course, he had kissed me twice also, and those were moves I still didn't really understand.
"Shut up and get us out of here!"
He hung up quickly and turned back to me, his eyes now roaming on me as I leaned my head against the wall. "What was so funny?"
"Nothing. He's just pissed."
"Are you impatient to get out of here so you can go back to her and let her literally sex-kiss you in front of everyone?"
His lips curled slightly on the right in an amused smile. "Sex-kiss me?" he repeated, raising his eyebrows.
"Yea. Pushing her tongue so deep on your mouth and making sex sounds."
"Is that what she did back there?" he asked, his smirk growing as he took a step closer.
"You should know it. She's probably not the first or last girl you'll be having sex with." I pointed out rudely, making him lose his smile and frown.
"Okay, what does that mean exactly?" he asked cautiously as I nodded. "Are you slut-shaming me?"
His expression surprised me but I just shrugged. "Tell me I'm wrong."
He scoffed and shook his head, placing himself in front of me, forcing me to raise my chin up to look in his eyes. "So basically you think I sleep with every single girl I meet? That I just see a pretty girl and kiss her or bring her to my bed to shag her? You don't know shit about me but you just judge me and decide what kind of person I am by just looking at me?"
"She doesn't even have to be pretty." I pointed out, feeling my heart jump at my confession.
It took him a few seconds to understand and his face changed. His shoulders moved down and he seemed to relax slightly, closing his eyes for a few seconds and sighing again. When his eyes met mine, I could tell he knew I was talking about myself. I could read it in the way he was looking at me.
"For your information, Mandy is the only girl I slept with since... well, she's the only girl I slept with in over a year. Happy?"
No, I was not happy. The fact that he literally only had sex with her made everything even worse. It was impossible to shag someone for so long without developing some sort of feelings for them.
"Why did Lewis say you'd kill him if he accepted that I moved in with him?"
Niall turned around and grabbed his phone, checking to see if he got a text message. "Because Lewis is an idiot, that's why." he looked up and stared at me for a while. I could feel he was a bit angry at me and I was not sure why but I probably deserved it. "Why were you leaving?"
"Because." I just replied in a low tone, looking away.
I wrapped my arms around myself like this move could shield me from his words, from his questions, and from his eyes.
"Because what?" he insisted a bit louder. "I answer your questions now it's your turn!"
"Because you.. you kiss me! And you.. you press your body on me and, and and your cock is pressing on my thigh! And you pull away and leave like it didn't matter! Like you do that to random girls all the fucking time! And you like my instagram posts in less than a minute like you actually turned the fucking notifications on! And then you invite me here like we're friends or some bullshit like that! But this girl is all over you and she literally makes out with you in front of everyone!"
I felt my heart beat so hard in my chest that it throbbed all over my body. Normally, I'd be ashamed of all the things I had just thrown at him but at the moment, stuck in an elevator and totally drunk, I really didn't care. In fact, it made me feel better than I thought it would.
"You know you're making no sense right now."
"Oh shut up!"
We remained motionless and silent for a few minutes and he finally moved back to lean on the other wall, his arms crossed on his chest. I finally let myself slide down against the wall until my butt touched the floor and sighed loud.
"I don't do that all the time, okay." he finally talked. "It just... It just happened!"
"Twice?"
"Yes ok? It just happened twice!" I didn't answer but simply rolled my eyes and he continued. "And about instagram, well I just happened to be scrolling through it."
"Right."
I sighed low and closed my eyes, trying to empty my mind from all of this, but after a few minutes, I heard him curse low. I opened my eyes and he was crouching down, his face looking at the floor, and it made me frown.
"Niall?" I moved my head, trying to see him better. "Are you alright?"
I watched as he gripped the back of his head with his hands and let out a short groan as I felt my heart skip a beat. I crawled to him on my knees slowly and finally sat on my legs, tilting my upper body a bit. It was making me nervous and the fact that I was so drunk that everything seemed to be slightly moving around me didn't help.
"Seriously, Niall, what's wrong?"
"Lewis texted me and said that we may be stuck here for a while and I just..." he seemed panicked and held my breath. "I'm.. I'm claustrophobic okay?"
Out of anything he could have told me, that was one thing I didn't expect at all. I put my back straight again and my lips parted. I shook my head a bit and licked my lips before looking at his hands as they gripped his own hair.
"But we've been stuck together in places before..."
"The basement of the library was big, and there was a window in the bathroom." he pointed out very quickly.
So the reason he wanted to be out of here as soon as possible was not because he couldn't stand to be with me, or because he wanted to see Mandy. I felt extra guilty for thinking about that at that exact moment and shook my head, trying to get rid of that thought.
"What am I... what should I do? How can I help?"
He didn't answer, he just let himself fall on his butt, his legs spread, and leaned his head against the wall, his eyes shut. I placed my hand gently on his shoulder and his eyes fluttered open. He seemed so fucked I thought he could pass out.
"Hey, look at me, okay?" I whispered, raising my eyebrows. "We can breathe together. Okay?"
He blinked a few times and nodded. I searched for his fingers and grabbed them, licking my lips. I was getting nervous too, and I honestly had no idea what to do to help him.
"Nothing's gonna happen to us, okay? So when I squeeze your fingers, we slowly breathe in, and when I stop we breathe out."
"Okay."
"Okay."
We did this for a few minutes but stress was slowly invading me and after a while, he finally closed his eyes again.
"Help me change my mind, Devie, I need to think about something else than the fact that we're stuck here." he let out a bit louder.
"I don't... I don't know what to do." I admitted, feeling myself tear up at how powerless I was.
"Anything, just, do something!" he insisted, making my heartbeats accelerate suddenly.
That's when it happened. I just crashed my mouth against his. My lips pressed on his but after a few seconds, my body relaxed a bit and so did my lips. I closed my eyes and pulled away slowly, feeling extremely stupid.
"Why did you do that?" he asked as I opened my eyes again. My gaze softened despite myself when it met his and he shook his head a bit.
"I don't know." I admitted in a whisper. "It's the first thing that came to my mind."
"Do it again."
"What?" I breathed out, my eyes getting bigger.
"Do it again." he repeated just as low. "Please."
My lips parted and I started panting as my heart thumped hard in my chest, so hard that I felt like it wanted to escape. I moved closer again, tilting my head slightly and brushing my lips against his. Every single time I felt Niall's lips against mine, it was driving me insane, and now that we were both not only drunk but also in a crisis situation, I felt every single pore of my skin shaking. His lips were warm and wet and I kissed him a bit harder. I don't know what suddenly got into me but quickly, my lips parted his and I made the kiss grow deeper. I thought it would surprise him as much as it surprised me but it took only half a second for his arms to wrap around me before he pulled me closer. I moved my knees on each side of him as I felt his fingers sink in the skin of my back through my clothes. He tasted amazing and I let a whimper escape my lips without shame as I sat on him, grinding down against him. It made me feel so dizzy I started seeing yellow spots behind my eyelids and I knew it was not the alcohol this time. It was him. It was always him.
I slid my fingers in his hair just as one of his hands reached for the bottom of my shirt, slipping under it and reaching for my breast. My lips parted again and I whispered a low 'Oh my god' as I pressed my legs more on the sides of his thighs. His fingers grabbed one cup of my bra and pulled it down a bit. I felt his knuckles rub against my nipple and I kissed him again hard, shutting my eyes tight and barely controlling my own body anymore. I could feel my inner thighs throb even harder and I pressed myself on him again, feeling his cock swell between my legs.
That was not what I had expected at all but I didn't want to stop. It's only when I heard him whisper my name as his free hand traveled down my back to reach my ass that I snapped out of it. I moved away slowly, my lips still parted as i panted, and waited for him to open his eyes. We stared at each other and I finally licked my lips as he leaned his head back on the wall, his eyes never leaving mine.
"I'm sorry." I murmured. "It probably didn't help you much."
He chuckled and his lips curled enough to show me his teeth as he shook his head slightly. "Actually, it did."
"Really?"
"Devie, it's hard to think about being locked in a confined place when your dick is hard."
I pressed my lips together, trying not to laugh too, and his hand slipped out of my shirt to fall on my thigh. That position, I had dreamed of it since the first day I met Niall, and I didn't want to move away. He let his fingers trace a few shapes on my jeans and my eyes fluttered at how soft he was being with me. He brought his free hand and moved a lock of my hair behind my ear before letting one of his fingertips brush against my jaw and down my neck before sliding between my breasts. His hand finally reached for my other thigh and he squeezed both at the same time.
I couldn't pretend my inner thighs weren't throbbing anymore, but somehow, it was for an other reason. I had never been excited like that by someone being so soft and gentle with me but it made me want to kiss him again.
"Thank you." he whispered as one of his hands left my thigh to move behind my head.
He pushed me gently to him and I let him. There was nothing I wanted more than to kiss him again and when my face got close enough to his, he kissed me softly and slowly a few times. I tried to remain motionless and eyes closed, focusing on the way his warm lips peppered tender kisses on my mouth as his fingers played in my hair. It was an incredible contrast with the last kiss we just had but I enjoyed it just as much.
"Niall, why do you-"
I was cut by the sound of his phone and he sighed as I moved back to give him space. He grabbed his phone on the floor and checked the message he had just received before looked back in my eyes.
"They'll put back the power any minute now."
As if on cue, the lights changed and the power came back. I remained sitting on him as the elevator brought us to the main floor and felt my heart sink in my chest. The moment was almost over and all that would be left of it would be the memory playing over and over in my head probably forever.
"Come on, Devie." he said in a low tone. "Let's get some fresh air okay? I really need it."
I nodded and got up in silence, holding out my hand to him to help him up too. He rubbed his sweaty hands on his jeans and we got out. It was still warm outside despite that time of the year and we started walking in silence. I kept glancing at him as we wandered around the streets and he was focusing on his feet, his hands in his pockets.
"Are you ever gonna share your story with me?"
Hearing his voice again made my heart jump in my chest. "My story?"
"Yes, You know about the girl who broke my heart, partly because of Louis." he explained, turning to look at me for a few seconds. "But you never told me who broke your heart."
I brought my arms around myself as a shiver crossed my back. I hadn't shared that with anyone but somehow, I wanted to share it with Niall. It's not that I felt like I owed him, it's just that if anyone could understand what it felt to be betrayed, it was him.
"When I started my second year at my old college, I met this guy... he was my professor and he was everything anyone could wish for. He was hot, smart and funny. Everyone was in love with him and I was head over heels." I scoffed and rolled my eyes at the thought. "He showed interest in me and I.. I couldn't  believe it, you know? With all the gorgeous, perfectly-shaped and sexy girls in that school, he still had picked me."
I could feel Niall's eyes on me and he started walking slower. I followed his pace and breathed in before sighing.
"So we started seeing each other in secret. I was.. in heaven. I thought it was real, you know? I thought we had something great, something epic. And someone caught us. So he denied me. He denied our story, and he broke my heart. I changed school because everyone knew, everyone talked behind my back, everyone pointed their fingers at me and whispered when I walked by. The person who caught us literally told everyone."
"That's shitty of them."
"It was my best friend." I admitted, raising my eyebrows and sighing.
"Ouch."
"Mmhm."
"So you really loved him? Your teacher?" Niall asked after he stopped walking and turned to face me.
I realized we were back in front of Lewis' apartment building and I swallowed hard. "Yes. But I was just one of the girls he slept with. Found out the hard way."
Niall took a step closer and I tilted my chin up to keep my eyes locked with his. Once again, he moved a lock of my hair behind my ear as one of his fell on his forehead. "He didn't deserve you."
"Just like your ex girlfriend didn't deserve you."
His lips curled slightly on the right in a mix of melancholy and softness and he finally sighed.
"Come on, Devie, let's go get a rest. We're both too drunk to drive and I'm exhausted."

Dumbledore rises and nods to the back of the Hall, signaling Filch, who begins to limp forward with an old chest.
"I wold like to say a few words before we bring in the casket." The Hall stops and looks to Dumbledore at the front of the Professors' tables.
"Casket. Did he say casket?" you lean over to Hermione to confirm your suspicions. Hermione nods.
"Eternal glory. That is what awaits the student who wins the Triwizard Tournament. But to do so, that student must survive three tasks. Three very dangerous tasks.”
"Wicked." Fred and George mutter with identical smirks adorning their features.
"You see, the Triwizard Tournament has an unfortunate history of killing off its participants. For this reason, the Ministry has seen fit to impose a new rule. To explain, we have the Head of the Department of International Magical Cooperation, Mr. Bartemius Crouch-"
CRACK!
A stitch of lightning flashes across the enchanted ceiling and the torches along the walls flicker, casting the Hall into and eerie semi-darkness. The rear doors fly open and a man stands in dark silhouette, clad in a long black traveling cloak, clutching a staff. Lighting flashes again and Alastor "Mad-eye" Moody is revealed, all grizzled grey hair and scarred flesh. As he limps forward- CLONK! CLONK!- all eyes shift to his wooden leg while the electric blue eye imbedded in his skull scans the Hall warily.
"Bloody hell. That's Mad-eye Moody." Ron speaks aloud.
"Alastor Moody? The Auror?" Hermione corrects as she leans to get a look of him.
"Auror?" Dean Thomas pipes up from where he's seated.
"Dark wizard catcher. Half the cells in Azkaban are filled thanks to him. Supposed to be mad as hatter these days, though. Sees Death Eaters in his dustbins." Ron sighs in disappointment of the once great man.
"Dark wizard catcher?" you take a sudden interest in the profession as it's mentioned in this passing conversation.
Another bolt of lightning flashes. Annoyed, Moody points his wand to the ceiling and, casting a red jet of flames, calming the enchanted sky. Slowly, the torches regain their bloom.
Satisfied, Moody pockets his wand, brings out a flask, and tips it to his lips. Harry watches his every move, fascinated.
"That's that he's drinking, d'you suppose?" Seamus quietly inquires.
"Dunno, but I don't think it's pumpkin juice." you grimace.
Moody and Dumbledore exchange whispers and a handshake, then Moody takes one of the remaining seat at the tall table. The staff eye him in mute disbelief.
"Barty, as you were saying..." Dumbledore gestures for Barty to continue.
Barty Crouch blinks and turns back to the stunned students.
"After due consideration, the Ministry has concluded that, for their own safety, no student under the age of seventeen will be allowed to put forth their name for the Triwizard Tournament. This decision is final." Barty winces when the uproar of upset underage students begins and he does his best to ignore them.
"What?!" Fred is bewildered.
"That's rubbish!" George shakes his fist angrily.
"SILENCE!" Dumbledore bellows. He says this so forcefully the result is absolute.
"Thank you."
Taking his wand, Dumbledore turns to the casket and gives it three taps. As the lip opens, he removes a wooden cup dancing with blue-white flames.
"The Goblet of Fire. Anybody wishing to submit themselves to the Tournament need only write their name upon a piece of parchment and drop it into the flame within the next twenty-four hours. Do not do so lightly. If chosen, there is no turning back. As of this moment... the Triwizard Tournament has begun."
Tumblr media
With a massive thud, Moody drops a textbook onto Neville's desk, the same textbook on everybody's desk: The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection.
"I see you all slogged down to Flourish & Blotts like good little boys and girls and bought the textbook. Congratulations... it'll make a find doorstop." Moody sneers.
The students exchanged confused glances and then glance back down at their textbooks. Not like most were going to read them, anyways. Moody turns.
"I'm Alastor Moody, ex-Auror, Ministry malcontent and your new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. I'm here because Dumbledore asked me. End of story, goodbye, the end. Any questions?" Moody's blue eyes scan the silent classroom and land on Harry. Harry stares back, willing himself to hold the old warrior's horrifying visage. Moody turns away and takes his flask.
"When it comes to the Dark Arts, I believe in a practical approach. You may wonder what I mean by that. I'll show you. But first, which of you can tell me..." Moody takes a sour tug on the flask, snatches up a specimen jar, and watches a spider scuttle within.
"... how many Unforgivable Curses are there?"
The students trade uneasy glances. Finally, Hermione's hand raises tentatively. As his real eye continues to stare at the spider, Moody's blue eye rotates into Hermione.
"I might've known. Go on, Granger." Moody encourages.
"There are three, sir-" She stops. "How did you know..." Moody circles again.
"Your name? I know a bit more than that. You're top of your class- correct?"
"Yes, sir..."
"Naturally inquisitive?"
"Yes..."
"Socially inept?"
"Well..."
"And... Muggle born." Moody stops, eye raking over the others.
"I'm not about to walk into a room full of strangers without doing background. Constant vigilance!" Moody jabs his staff into the floor right in front of you and Harry. As the class jumps, Harry studies Moody's scars.
"Girl Weasley!" He exclaims. Your eyes rake up to meet his with anxiety swimming in your irises.
"Sir?" you gulp.
"Don't think I didn't research your background as well." Moody makes sure of that.
"I don't doubt you did, sir." your eyes fail to maintain eye contact.
"Twin sister of Ronald Weasley?"
"Yes, sir."
"Always alert?"
"I would think so-"
"Bossy?"
"I-... I would suppose I am-"
Moody speaks to Harry. "The devil likes disguises. Never forget that." He nods. Harry remains transfixed. Finally, Moody moves on. You let out a hitched breath and slouch your tensed shoulders.
"He's right, you are bossy." Harry smiles mischievously. Your eyes shift to look at his and you make no comment, which is highly unusual for you, given your nature. Harry's smile disappears when he notices your irregular breathing and the tears welling up beneath your eyelids. He assumes you didn't take Moody's comment well and he'd taken it a step further. You turn away and Harry reaches for your shoulder cautiously.
"Wait, Y/N, I-"
"Again, Granger. How many curses?" Moody speaks again and Harry instinctively shuts his mouth.
Hermione hesitates, noticing the glossy nature of your eyes before she realizes she's being spoken to. She steals once last glance at you before she turns to Moody.
"Three." She replies.
"And they're so named...?"
"Because they're unforgivable. The use of any one of them..." Hermione's voice shakes.
"... will earn you a one-way ticket to Azkaban, correct. Now, the Ministry says you're too young to see what these curses do, I say different! You need to know what you're up against. You need to be prepared. You need to find another place to put your gum besides the underside of your desk, Mr. Finnigan!"
Seamus blinks, caught in the act. He whispers to his desk mate. "Blimey. The old codger can see out of the back of his head..." Moody whirls around and chucks the chalk he was writing with in Seamus's direction.
"... and hear across classrooms! So. Which curse shall we see first? Weasley!"
"Y-yes?" Ron gasps and jumps to look up at Moody.
"Give me a curse." Moody implores pressingly, his artificial darting from the board to Ron hastily.
Ron watches uneasily as Moody returns to the specimen jar, reaches inside and lets the spider run up his hand.
"Well... our dad once told me about one... the Imperious Curse." Ron falters, voice wavering. Lory nods grimly to herself, Ron's statement evoking a memory of long ago.
"I expect your father would know that one. Gave the Ministry a fair bit of grief some years ago. Perhaps this will show you why." Moody unsheathes his wand and aims it carefully towards the fidgeting insect.
"Imperio!"
As Moody waves his wand, the spider leaps from his palm onto Dean Thomas's desk. The class begins to giggle, and the giggles turn into roaring laughter as the spider hops from Dean's desk and into Crabbe's face, who exclaims in horror and reaches up to swat the spider from his face.
"Don't worry! She's completely harmless." Moody assures with a small smirk playing on his face.
The spider flies across the room and lands on Paravrti's hand, who immediately ceases her laughter and exchanges her amused expression for one of terror with a mixture of horror. She stiffens and freezes at the contact, heavily exhaling as the spider crawls up her arm and dangerously close to her face.
Moody cackles in amusement as he directs the spider to hover dangerously close to Ron's face, who whimpers in terror.
"If she bites... she's lethal!" Moody grins with a playful wave of his wand, causing the spider to drop on Ron's face, who's eyes widen to the size of saucers as his body stiffens. Moody laughs once more, true delight gracing his features.
Draco's laugh sounds prominently through the classroom and snatches Moody's attention, who doesn't enjoy the smug look gracing his features.
"What are you laughing at?" Moody challenges, hurriedly waves his wand to cause the spider leap through the air and land directly on Draco's face, causing him to yell in horror.
"Serves you right, Malfoy." you turn in your seat and grin childishly at him. Once the spider finally removes itself from Draco's face, he doesn't hesitate to glare intently at you, smugly sitting in front of him.
"Shut your mouth, blood traitor." he growls. You merely shrug, your heart hammering in your chest with confidence.
"Talented, isn't she? What should I have her do next? Jump out a window? Drown herself?" One by one, the students' smiles dry up.
"Scores of witches and wizards claimed they only did You-Know-Who's bidding under the influence of the Imperius Curse. Here's the rub: how do you sort out the liars?" Moody rapidly wets his lips, stating intently at the class. The statement sinks into the minds of the students as it falls silent for moment, if only just.
"Another!" Moody urges. He scans the forest of hands, when his eye rotates with particular interest on... Neville.
"It's Longbottom, is it? Professor Sprout tells me you have an aptitude for Herbology." Moody mutters quietly to Neville as he towers over his desk.
Neville nods shyly, then answers. "There's... the Cruciatus Curse." he stutters nervously.
"Yes. Particularly nasty." Moody exclaims. He steps forward, looming over Neville and drops the spider onto his desk.
"Crucio!"
The spider twitches, legs trembling violently. Moody stands utterly motionless, eyes fixed on Neville, who seems transfixed on the spider's misery. Lorelei's contorts in sympathy for the creature as it whines and screeches, her eyes squinting shut to obstruct her sightline of the writhing spider. Hermione's eyes drift from the spider to Neville's hands, which are clenching the corners of his desk so hard that his knuckles are turning white.
"Stop it! Can't you see it's bothering him?! Stop it!"
Finally... Moody drops his wand. The room falls under a solemn silence.
"Um... perhaps you could give us the last Unforgivable Curse, Miss Granger." Moody stands at her desk, drops the spider from his hand to her desk, and stares at her expectantly. Everyone's eyes are trained on Hermione to catch her response, especially you.
Hermione glances at you and shakes her head insistently.
"Avada Kedavra!"
There is a flash of green light, a rush of air, and the spider... rolls onto its back. Dead.
"The killing curse. There is no blocking it. Only one person is known to have survived it. And he's sitting in this room."
As the others turn their eyes on him, Harry looks up and sees Moody studying him. Moody's tongue nervously probes the corner of his mouth as he takes out his flask and turns away. Harry's eyes drop tot he spider, lying motionless.
"Bugger off, you lot. Nothing to see here." you shoo off the tables around you and the students avert their eyes elsewhere in the room. Harry is silently grateful.
Tumblr media
You, Harry, Ron, and Hermione drift from the class.
"Brilliant, isn't he? Completely demented, of course, and terrifying to be in the same room with, but he's really been there, y'know? He's looked evil in the eye." Ron gushes.
"I think he's cruel. Did you see Neville? I though he was going to-" Harry lets out a short warning whistle before you can continue: up ahead, within earshot, Neville stands by a stained glass window, his face running in rainy blue light as he gazes vaguely beyond.
"Neville....?" you gently touch his shoulder.
Clunk! Clunk! Moody limps past them and places a leathered hand on Neville's shoulder.
"It's alright, sonny. You come with me. We'll have a cup of tea in my office." Moody leads Neville away. Harry and the others head off themselves.
Set within the glass pane is an ancient witch fashioned out of blue glass, her "skin" running with rain. A tiny fissure mars the glass below one eye. She looks be crying.
Tumblr media
A bitter wind sweeps crystalline sheets of rain from the roof. Far below, Cedric Diggory dashes toward the Great Hall.
Inside the Hall, the goblet flickers eerily at the top. A group of underclassmen- Harry and Ron among them- stand by as their older classmates submit their names. Hermione clutches a copy of Triwizard Tragedies. You nudge her.
"You're only going to worry yourself sick with that book, you know." you inform curtly, eyeing the book.
"People have gotten splinched in this Tournament! More than once!" Hermione exclaims in horror.
"Splinched?" Dean Thomas inquires.
"Dunno. But it doesn't sound good." Seamus exhales anxiously.
"Potter." Cedric nods to Harry and drops his name. Ron raises his hand in greeting, but Cedric is already dashing back into the rain. Ron frowns, drops his hand, and glances back to the Goblet.
"Eternal glory. Be brilliant, wouldn't it, three years from now, when we're old enough, to be chosen?" Ron dreams.
"Better you than me." Harry grins and Ron nods knowingly.
"Better not be either of you, you hear me?" you warn the two. Ron rolls his eyes.
"You're not the boss of me. I am two minutes older." Ron brags. The group groans.
"Not this again." Hermione goes back to her book.
"Oh, two whole minutes older. What an accomplishment. You probably pulled me by my heal to get out first." You retort in exasperation. Ron scowls. "Did not!" He exclaims.
You’re about to continue the argument when, just then, Fred and George come striding forth, looking very pleased indeed.
"Well, we've done it, lads." Fred announces proudly, almost smugly.
"Cooked it up just this morning." George smirks. They hold up twin vials.
"It's not going to work..." Hermione informs in a sing-song tone. Everyone turns. Hermione flips a page in her book.
"Yeah? And why's that, Granger?" The twins arrive either of her sides.
"Because a genius like Dumbledore couldn't possibly be fooled by a dodge as pathetically dim-witted as an Aging Potion." Hermione informs with an annoyed expression.
"That's what makes it so brilliant. It's pathetically dim-witted." Fred's playful smile never falters.
"Go on, then." you challenge.
"Ready Fred?" "Ready George." "Bottoms up!"
As one, they top a gooey green liquid onto their tongues and, with great drama, cross the golden line encircling the Goblet. As they drop their names, everyone waits. And waits. Fred and George grin and hive five each other and...
... are ejected high in the air, out of the circle and flat on their backs, whereupon little white beards sprout on their chins. Everyone laughs.
"You said!"
"You said!"
The twins lunge at each other, limbs tangled as they wrestle each other into submission, blaming the other for their shared misfortune. Then Seamus stops laughing. Then Dean. Harry. Ron. You. Finally, when no one is laughing, Hermione looks up and sees what has silenced them:
Victor Krum.
He drops his name, glances at her, briefly, then lowers his head and slouches away. Hermione watches him go, briefly, then returns back to her book.
"What do you suppose that was?" You lean slightly to whisper in Harry's ear, who shrugs.
"No idea." he answers with little interest. Ron, on the other hand, is close to glaring.
Tumblr media
The House tables crackle with anticipation as, overhead, the enchanted ceiling swirls with dark clouds. At the Tall Table, the staff awaits, Moody among them. Dean Thomas dashes up to the Gryffindor table.
"Did you hear?! Not a single student from Beauxbatons submitted their name." he exclaims.
"What!?" Ron gasps. Harry and Ron glance to the Ravenclaw table, where Cho sits next to an empty seat. Ron looks crestfallen.
"Oh, rubbish, one of them must have submitted their name." Your expression changes from determined to confused when you realize that none of the Beauxbaton students are anywhere to be seen.
"They've gone home!" Ron declares, bewildered and disappointed.
"I can't say I'm surprised. Those girls were just a tad high-strung, if you ask me." Hermione's triumphant smirk is unmissable, and you pat her on the shoulder with the same type of smirk.
Suddenly, there is a stir at the back of the Hall and the Beauxbaton girls, chins held high, stride single-file into the room, past the House tables and up to the Goblet of Fire where- one after another- they deposit their names. As a final flourish, tiny Gabrielle Delacour casts a handful of pixie dust into the Goblet, which issues a pink cloud of rose petals. The Hall rings with whistles and cheers. Ron beams.
"Oh, for crying out loud." you slouch in your seat at the display.
"I love it when they do this..." Ron sighs with a dazes expression overtaking his features.
"Do what?" Hermione demands.
"You know... walk together."
"Thank you, ladies of Beauxbatons, for that enjoyable but of theatre. Now... the moment has arrived." Dumbledore draws his wand and gives a great sweeping motion. Instantly, the torches lining the hall gutter, then die. The only light comes from the blue-white flames of the Goblet.
A hush descends. Then... the flames crackle and turn red. A charred bit of parchment flutters from the goblet and Dumbledore plucks it out of the air.
"The champion for Durmstrang is... Victor Krum." A storm of applause accompanies Krum from the Slytherin table to the top of the hall and into the adjoining chamber.
"No surprise there!" Ron scoffs.
Once more, the Hall grows quiet, all eyes on the Goblet. The flames turn red. A second piece of parchment, a particularly feminine parchment, floats free.
"The champion for Beauxbatons is... Fleur Delacour."
"I'm telling you, they don't make them like that at Hogwarts." Ron shakes his head and whistles through his fingers- a touch too loudly, and you whack him harshly upside the head. Hermione glowers at him.
"And lastly, the Hogwarts champion." A beat of stressed silence passes. "Cedric Diggory!"
"Silly git..." Ron grumbles as the Hall erupts in cheers.
"He's meant to be quite smart, actually. And he's a Prefect." you nod curtly.
"Like that's a good thing..."
"Excellent! We now have our three champions. I'm sure I can count upon all of your to give your full support to each and every-"
A collective gasp cuts Dumbledore short: the flames in the Goblet of Fire have, once more, turned red. Moody's eye rotates. A fourth... and fifth shred of parchment flutter forth. For a moment, Dumbledore simply lets them float in the air, regarding it suspiciously, then he takes them.
"Harry Potter and Y/N Weasley." He announces grimly.
Your face falls and your heart stops beating for a moment. The blood drains from your face and you turn to look at Harry, who's utterly confused as well.
There is a moment of suspended silence. Then every eye in the Hall turns toward you and Harry. Incredulous, Ron searches your face for some explanation. Finally, Hermione whispers:
"Go on, you two." Hermione places her hand gently on the small of your back to push your up.
You and Harry rise stiffly and you begin the slow walk past the house tables. As you come level with the tall table, Harry catches sight of Dumbledore. He is not smiling.

Chapter 28
The boys are back... (High School Musical, probably)
THE ROAD SO FAR
Tumblr media
Docked and Loaded
Alexander "Alex" Collins
MacTavish Residence, Glasgow Scotland
Alex loved the idea of sleeping beside his significant other. It felt great to be loved, especially after all those months when he couldn't stop thinking of her.
Yet today was different, he woke up alone. He turned to the bathroom door to check whether Samantha took a shower, but it was too quiet. So he decided to put on his grey tank top and sweatpants to go look for her.
He pulled the door open to see Samantha carrying a tray containing two meals, one was a fluffy pancake with maple syrup and the other one was a meaty sandwich.
"Hey, you. Good Morning." She greeted, her voice was always angelic in Alex's ears.
"There you are…" he sighed as he stepped back, letting her in.
"I was only gone for a few minutes. You don't have to worry that much." She grinned, guiding Alex back to the bed, teasingly pushing him as he plopped on the soft mattress bouncing as he slowly backwards crawled until his back hit the headboard.
"I'm just not used to waking up without you in my arms." he grinned as Samantha placed the tray on his lap, grabbing a slice of the sandwich and pointed it at his mouth.
"I thought the pancake was mine." Alex said, looking puzzled.
"No, that's mine. What you're supposed to be eating is this very healthy, dietician prescribed meal." She emphasized. Alex frowned.
"I want the pancake." he complained playfully.
"Too much sugar is bad for you." she teased as Alex finally surrendered and opened his mouth wide. He wasn't a huge fan of the wheat bread.
"Say, aside from Alex. Did you use any other names while undercover?" Samantha slowly plopped herself beside him, locking her hands against his and leaned on his strong biceps.
"Oh hmmm.." he hummed, softly chewing and finishing his sandwich.
"I had a few… like James, Chad, Mike or Michael…" he said.
"Okay. Which was the most sophisticated?" Samantha asked. Alex looked at her in the eyes and saw that she was really interested in his answer.
"Nathaniel." he chuckled and Samantha looked confused.
"What's funny?"
"I don't strike as a 'Nathaniel'. I just used it once." Alex defended despite not being attacked.
"Now that you say it… yeah." she laughed as soon as she realized the content of his words.
"What's the funniest? And why?" her eyes sparkled, or has it always been that way then he looked at her eyes. Alex never knew, but he liked it.
"Ummm.. I once went by 'Ray'. It's funny because… it just is. It's too short and I often mistake someone thinking that they're calling me. It has a lot of rhymes you know…" he answered, her eyes never left her stare.
"Ray's a nice name." Samantha mused, this actually made Alex a little curious.
"You're making me jealous over my previous name." He sneered playfully.
"Oh don't be. Alex is a very perfect name. It sounds... handsome." she said, making Alex smile in excitement. This was it. He was truly madly and deeply in love with this woman.
Alex leaned for a kiss to which Samantha eagerly accepted, but as soon as their hands started to roam around, a knock on the door was heard.
"Oi, Alex! Price wants us for a briefing." Soap's muffled voice roared from behind the door.
"I'm coming!" Alex shouted as she gave Samantha one quick kiss before leaving the bed.
Tumblr media
Alex felt underdressed for the briefing as Roach and Soap were wearing collared shirts. So he hid behind them and listened eagerly to Captain Price.
"Alright boys, Laswell left us a gift. There's a port near the English Channel, where a lot of cargo ships are suspected to be operating under Shadow Company's name, and it might lead us to Shepherd.
The plan is simple. Sneak in, gather everything we can using our cameras and sneak out. This place will be swarming with hostiles and all we have are pistols with few ammo. Soap, you take care of our ride and comms. Alex and Roach, you're with me." They all nodded in agreement.
"There are about approximately three ships and the Shadow Company shipment is mixed along with civilian cargo. We have to be there before 3 am tomorrow as it's scheduled to be unloaded that day." Price sprawled printout of the cargo's travel ticket along with other solid intel.
It was official. They're back in the grid, a wave of excitement and fear overwhelmed the former CIA. Excited because they're one step closer to ending this thing and scared because he knew Samantha's going to worry about him.
Port of Dover, London UK
1734HOURS
They were too early for the transfer but as they say, "The early bird gets the worm." The team positioned themselves on a rooftop of a nearby building, Price scanning the area with binoculars.
"Three huge cargo ships and one party packed cruise ship." he muttered. The rest of the team sat patiently waiting for the perfect opening.
"Hm. This is odd." Price added, noticing the convoy of expensive cars slowly parking themselves near the ship.
"It is. There's a party here tonight… and it says here SC Security Services was hired as the events' security team." Gary added, scrolling through his phone.
"SC. Shadow Company. Sneaky Bastards are using the party to cover their real agenda!" Soap pieced the puzzle together.
"And we're here to stop em on their bloody tracks." Price nodded and resumed scanning.
"How are we going to get in?" Alex asked as trucks of Shadow Company troops flooded the area. It looked like they had good reason to swarm the place. It was a sneaky yet effective tactic.
"I got one ticket." Gary raised a QR code from his phone. Price looked at the black and white blotches of squares in question.
"What's that supposed to do?" Price asked.
"It's a digital pass. The DJ performing tonight is a good ol' friend of mine." he said.
"It's going to be a semi-formal party with a masquerade theme."  He continued, scrolling through the e-invite.
"Then you're going in there. See what's up. These cargo ships may just be decoys. We take one ship each. Always stay on comms. Once Roach successfully gets in, he'll find a shortcut from the inside." Price planned and everyone had no objections.
"Wait. Maxine told me that she brought something useful." he scoured the contents of the duffle bag.
"Is it food?" Soap asked innocently as everyone looked at him.
"Bingo. Three Shadow Company Uniforms from Russia." Gary grinned and everyone looked delighted.
"Guess we're taking the easy way in." Price muttered as they put their plan to action.
Tumblr media
Roach stopped at a local thrift shop for his attire. He wore an awkwardly tight tuxedo with rubber duck printed tie and a magenta masquerade mask. It wasn't too shabby and it did the job, as the rest of the group were already inside the premises.
"Stay on comms, Roach. Keep us posted." Price muttered as the team split to each of their ships. Walking casually like regular guards, except they didn't have guns.
"Aye aye, Captain." Roach muttered as slow booming could be heard from the distance. He was approaching the party.
Alex's ship was the farthest from the cruise ship but that didn't mean it was the least guarded. For a party, the place was overcrowded with security. Alex confidently nodded at every 'ally' he passed along the way, overhearing conversations of a supply drop around 3 am tomorrow, confirming Laswell's speculations.
"Hey!" Someone called from behind and Alex turned cautiously.
"You left your rifle at the office?" he asked and Alex nodded. The man pointed to the cargo ship and it gave Alex the free ticket to investigate it. He was lucky enough for an easy pass.
The cargo ship was indeed large, he didn't know where to start, but as soon as he claimed his issued rifle, he immediately looked for the ship's logs.
"I'm in. Got myself a gun." Alex reported.
"Good. I'm also in. Trying not to get tempted by the buffet." Gary replied.
"They're looking suspiciously at my haircut." Soap muttered, frustrated.
"My ship's empty, but I could feel footsteps. I'm being followed." Price warned.
"Mine's full of stuff. It's impossible to look through these without a shipment log." Alex sighed, opening another door that contained useless stuff.
At the last door of the hallway, Alex heard a bizarre noise, he carefully crouched and checked on the room. A Shadow Company guard was snoring loudly, a computer monitor showing a live feed of the rooms in front of him.
"Ahem! Sir, you are needed on the cruise ship!" Alex roared, surprising the sleeping guard as he quickly got up to his bearings and exited the room.
"Alright guys. I got eyes on the whole thing." He told comms while scanning the thick book of the ship's cargo.
"Good one." Gary said.
"Finally, these muppets stopped talking about my hair. I'm Oscar Mike." Soap muttered while Price's end remained quiet.
"Just what is Shepherd up to…" Alex mused, fingers scrolling through the ship log. He doesn't have all night but he's doing his best to look for it under pressure.

“Okay something definitely happened at that gala.”
Taeyong is watching your every move as you pace back and forth your kitchen, grabbing necessary items to make him coffee. He’s sitting by your dining table with brows raised and arms crossed across his chest, analysing your strange behaviour. When you finish pouring the coffee in the mug you set it down in front of him and turn your back on him once again to get started on the dishes piled up on the sink.
“Y/n, stop avoiding me.”
“I’m not avoiding you.”
“You’re avoiding my questions.”
“What questions?”
You hear Taeyong sigh behind you. “Stubborn, as always.” You dismiss his comment by continuing with the dishes, hissing in pain when the water from the tap is too hot. You draw your hand back almost immediately and Taeyong rises from his seat in less than a second. He walks over to you and inspects your now raw and red hand, blowing cool air on it gently before you’re retracting it from him and hiding it behind your back.
“Now will you tell me?” Taeyong prods, leaning against the sink, searching your already panic-stricken features. “Did Doyoung confess?”
You snap your head towards him, “Confess? Doyoung?”
“What?” Taeyong asks again, face contorting. “Why is that a surprise to you?”
“Because why would he confess? Confess what?”
Taeyong’s mouth falls open, “That he likes you? As if he hasn’t made that obvious to you already?”
“He doesn’t like me,” you deny and tear your eyes off him to stare out the window above your sink. “No way he would.”
Taeyong rolls his eyes and you see it from the corner of your eye, “For someone who’s pretty smart, you’re actually pretty dumb.”
You drop your shoulders at the same time you release a sigh, lowering your head and resting your hands on the edge of the counter, memories of last night flashing right before your eyes you have to physically close them just to unsee it all.
“If it’s not Doyoung, then what is it?” Taeyong asks, his voice quieter and concern evident in his gentle tone.
“It’s not a what, it’s a who,” you mumble. Taeyong doesn’t say anything and you know he’s urging you to continue with the way he’s leaning forward to catch a glimpse of your face. “Johnny Suh,” you finally say, looking up, the name rolling off your tongue for the first time in so many years.
“Oh.”
“Yeah,” you sigh again, your mind blank. “He was there at the gala, for a partnership with Doyoung.”
“Oh.”
You turn to face Taeyong, grabbing a towel from below to dry your hands completely. “You know Yong, it’d be really nice if you could say something else other than “oh”.”
Taeyong blinks and bites his lower lip, “Well, I don’t know how to tell you this but.. I kind of knew he was back in the country.”
“What?” You’re glaring at him by now as you place the towel back on the counter. “And you didn’t even tell me?”
“Y/n, I only found out two days ago,” Taeyong explains, taking a step back from you. “I was shocked too, I mean we didn’t have contact with him for what? Five years? I didn’t know how to tell you, plus you had other things on your plate, the gala and everything.”
“How did you even know he was back?”
“He got in touch with me. And the guys.”
“The guys knew too?”
Taeyong nods and presses his lips in a thin line. “Did you know he’d be at the gala?” You ask in a huff.
Taeyong shakes his head. “No. All he told us was that he was back and that he wanted to meet us.”
You press your index to your temple, feeling a slight headache coming on. Taeyong scurries to grab a glass nearby and fill it with water before handing it to you. “What.. happened at the gala?” he asks you cautiously and quietly.
You down the glass of water in one go, hand the empty glass back to Taeyong and forcefully pull at a nearby chair and sit on it. Taeyong takes the seat beside you, leaning forward until he’s resting his elbows on his knees. “He asked me to dance,” you reply, picking at your fingers.
Taeyong’s eyes widen and before he can even ask further questions, you interrupt him, “But we didn’t. Doyoung came in time and that’s when I got him to bring me home.”
“So you didn’t talk?”
You shake your head, “No. Though Doyoung did introduce us to each other. And it wasn't the most pleasant. I had to pretend like it was my first time meeting him. I swear I saw him glare at me from the corner of my eye.” You run a hand through your hair out of frustration. “The world is too small. I don’t want to live here anymore.”
Taeyong consoles you by rubbing your arm soothingly, the sadness in his eyes serving as evidence of how much he feels for you. He knew you hated confrontations, you always ran away from them because you believed that as long as you didn’t acknowledge things, they’d never be able to touch you. But this was something that needed to be addressed and Taeyong knew that you knew that too. He thinks you just need a little bit of a push.
“Are you going to tell him?”
“What?”
“Y/n, he deserves to know. He has-”
“Good morning uncle Yong,” a small voice cuts Taeyong off from digging into the conversation any deeper. He tears is eyes off of you and immediately soften at the little figure standing proudly by the doorway clothed in a fresh uniform.
Taeyong immediately stands from his seat and walks over to the little one with you following suit. “Hey buddy! Are you ready for school?” Taeyong asks as he crouches down to ruffle his hair.
The child nods with a grin, “I am. I’ll just say bye to mommy,” he replies and walks away from Taeyong to make his way over to you.
You instantly wipe away the dazed look on your face and shift your focus onto the figure waddling over to you. You bend down to match his height and you are met by his little hands reaching out to you for a hug. “Have fun in school today okay? Be kind,” you remind him as you give him a tight squeeze. His laugh resonates in your ear and your heart melts. “I love you,” you says as you let him go and fix the straps of his bag on his shoulders.
“I love you more mommy,” he says smiling and eyes twinkling at you.
You walk Taeyong and your child out to the car and wave him last one goodbye before you turn to your best friend who’s already staring at you with questioning eyes.
“I know Yong, I know,” you exhale, defeated.
He sighs in return, feeling guilty for adding to your worries and concerns. He brings an arm around you and rubs his palm on your back in a calming manner.
“You know I’m always on your side. But you can’t hide forever. You know that too.”
Tumblr media
“We hope you’re just as pleased as we are about this partnership, Johnny,” Doyoung says with a grin, buttoning the coat of his tux as everyone begins to pile out the conference room upon the completion of the meeting.
Johnny smiles, his eyes forming crescent moons. “Of course Doyoung, it’s our pleasure. We can’t wait to have your furniture across our malls. And plus it was a reason to bring me back home, so I definitely have gained a lot through this.”
“How many years did you say you’ve been away for?” Doyoung asks curiously, fixing his glasses on the bridge of his nose.
“Five years,” Johnny replies, a heavy breath escaping his lips, feeling genuinely elated to be back. “Feels much longer than that though.”
Doyoung chuckles, “Well it isn’t easy being far from home.”
Johnny falls silent and unconsciously begins to stare into nothing when he hears the word home with the distant thought of you somewhere at the back of his mind. Doyoung’s words ring in his ears again amidst the silence and he finds himself slowly nodding.
“Yeah... it really isn't,” he mumbles.
Doyoung leads the way and navigates through his company building towards the exit, continuing his conversation with Johnny about different business matters. When the two reach the entrance, situated by by the lobby, the automatic revolving doors just right in from of them, Doyoung stops in his tracks to face Johnny who does the same.
“So what do you say, dinner? It’s on me,” Johnny offers, thinking that maybe Doyoung could be his first friend upon is return home. Plus, it had always been on his agenda to definitely get to know the people he does business with.
Doyoung contemplates for a second before he’s giving Johnny an apologetic smile, “I’d love to.” He then takes a glance at his wristwatch that’s hidden beneath his sleeve. “But I have to pick up y/n from work. She should be finishing soon.”
Johnny’s ears perk up at the mention of your name and unknowingly, he raises his brow, but brings it back down just in time so that Doyoung doesn't see. “Y/n?”
Doyoung nods, “Remember y/n? She was at the gala. I introduced you guys to each other.”
Johnny nods and feigns ignorance by pretending to finally remember. “Oh, yeah I remember her.” He plasters a smile on his face before he purses his lips into a thin line, his fingers beginning to twitch. “You guys... dating?” He’s not so sure what he’s trying to gain from asking the question, after all, it hasn’t been long since he’s known Doyoung and he was definitely in no place to pry into his personal life but the words are out even before he could prevent himself from saying them.
Doyoung breathes a small chuckle and stuffs his hands in his pockets, blowing air out of his cheeks. “No, we’re not.” And somehow Johnny’s shoulders drop in relief unknowingly. “But I might as well ask her to,” Doyoung finishes.
Johnny tries hard not to show the change in his expression by maintaining a straight face, angling his face upwards so that Doyoung doesn’t pick up on it. “You like her?”
Johnny doesn’t even need a verbal answer because Doyoung’s smile says it all. “Yeah, something like that,” he says, a bashful hint to his voice. Doyoung clears his throat and stands up straight after realising his behaviour. “Unless, you’d like to come and have dinner with us? I'm sure y/n wouldn't mind.”
Johnny is quick to shake his head and shrugs it off with a small smile, “Oh no, it’s okay. Don’t worry about it. There’s always a next time. You guys enjoy your night.”
“You’re sure?” Doyoung asks, slightly concerned, the thought of Johnny having dinner by himself popping up in his head.
“Yeah, I’m sure.”
You’re waving at the four year old who’s last to leave the preschool premises as he runs to his parents. Doyoung pulls up just in time to see the scene and there’s a smile playing on his lips as he tears his eyes off the family who’s about to take off to land his gaze on you. You wave at him too and gesture for him to wait out here while you grab your stuff inside. It takes you no less than five minutes to come back out and you find Doyoung standing outside, looking at the trees that  surround the humble building. He’s quick to take your bag from you and you don’t even notice as you fall into conversation with him about the occurrences of your day.
“Fancy anything specific for dinner?” Doyoung asks as he begins to drive.
Taeyong’s words suddenly echo in your head and as you watch Doyoung’s side profile from the passenger seat, you couldn’t help but think if Taeyong’s assumptions were right. It was either that, or Doyoung was just extremely nice enough for him to go out of his way to pick you up from work every now and again. But then again, Taeyong does that. Jaehyun does that. And Ten does too, and they most definitely do not have any feelings for you.
“Y/n?” Doyoung calls out when he momentarily catches you staring at him.
You snap out of your daze then, convincing yourself you were overthinking and way ahead of yourself. This should be the last thing on your mind right now, “I’m sorry, you were saying?”
“Dinner, is there anything you’re craving?” Doyoung repeats, blinking onto the road ahead. He turns to you again briefly, “Everything okay?”
You nod too quickly and keep your eyes ahead on the road, “Y-yeah.” You feel your stomach ache with uncertainty then, the mere thought of the possibility of Doyoung harbouring any sort of feelings for you making you feel unsettled. “Doie, I think I'm going to skip dinner tonight. I’m really sorry.”
Doyoung nods understandingly, “Are you sure everything’s okay?”
“Yeah. I’m just, tired.”
“Alright. Let’s get you home.”
Tumblr media
“I’m just picking up some groceries,” You say into the phone that’s tucked between your cheek and your shoulder, picking up a bag of potatoes. “I’ll be there soon.”
“Take your time,” Jaehyun says on the other line. “No rush at all, we’re having fun over here.”
“You know I’m beginning to think my own son likes you more than he likes me,” you laugh and continue to weave in and out of the supermarket aisles.
“Well, I’m really good with children,” Jaehyun says proudly.
You rolls your eyes playfully. “Yeah well anyways, talk to you later. Thanks again Jae.”
“Safe home Y/n.”
It takes you another half an hour to pick up everything you need, from basic ingredients for everyday food, general necessities needed at home, to your son’s daily snacks for school. You’re about to head towards the cashiers when the news headlines catch your attention on the TV hanging on the ceiling in the middle of one of the aisles. You hook the basket on the crook of your elbow and fixate your eyes on the LED screen. On it, you find Johnny all suited up in grey, entering a building with a man you remember to be his dad.
“Suh Youngho, the only son of Suh Hyuk, to take over Suh industries by the end of this year,” the headlines wrote. You almost don’t recognise him then and there because of his unfamiliar demeanour. He had a taught expression on his face, hair completely out of his face, and stature well composed. It reminds you of the night of the gala, only then, he looked so much more at ease. He looked like a real businessman; so far from the Johnny you once personally knew; the one who was always smiling, goofying around, dressed in more casual everyday clothes. But then you realise he was the Johnny you remember from five years ago, and you come to a conclusion that maybe in the span of that time, he’s grown to change into this person.
“Y/n?”
You snap your head towards the direction of the voice that had just called you. Your eyes fall to the man who had just been in your thoughts seconds ago. Johnny shifts his gaze from you to the TV he had found you watching and he suddenly feels embarrassed when he finds himself being the centre of the headlines.
“Johnny, hi,” you manage to reply, not being able to help yourself eyeing him from head to toe because your previous thoughts perfectly matched the situation right now. It’s been two weeks since you saw him last and today, Johnny’s wearing a cap over his head, a plain white shirt grazing his torso and pair of black jeans hugging his lower body. Looking at him now, nobody would ever suspect he’d be next in line to manage one of the country’s biggest and most powerful companies. Your eyes catch the bottle of water in his left hand and a black plastic bag hanging in his fingers on the other.
“You’re on the news,” you suddenly blurt out in the midst of your attempts to calm your thoughts.
Johnny smiles a small one. “Yeah- I didn’t know the press would release the news that fast. I only found out a few days ago.”
You find yourself nodding at his words and when his eyes dart to your basket, full of children’s snacks, you get the sudden urge to hide it away from him. So you tug it away slightly and hide it by your side.
“We never really got to talk in the gala,” he says, your heart slowly picking up its pace at the reminder of you pretending not to know him. “How have you been?”
You find yourself nodding profusely for some reason and you feel your palms begin to sweat. Johnny eyes you closely and doesn’t even take his eyes off you even for a second, “Yeah, I've been well, thanks for asking,” you reply even when the shakiness in your voice says otherwise. “Yourself?”
Johnny smiles nonetheless with a nod of his head, “Good, thank you.”
“What brings you here?” he asks again, smiling.
“Groceries. There’s no food left at home,” you half chuckle. “And you?”
“I had this sudden craving for spicy rice cakes on the way home,” he replies, gesturing at the plastic bag in his hands. “And this was the first place I came across.”
A soft laugh escapes your mouth, “Tastebuds missing it here huh?”
Johnny nods, “Tell me about it.”
Silence envelops the two of you for a few seconds with you two just standing there, staring at each other and the only difference was that Johnny’s smile only seemed to broaden as the seconds passed while you remained expressionless, trying to figure out what could be running through his mind. But his smile disappears almost immediately when he remembers his conversation with Doyoung from weeks prior and begins to contemplate if it’s a topic he should bring about. But he decides against it because it was too soon and he didn’t want anything to ruin the atmosphere. After all, it’s been five years and that’s a long enough time for him not to have the right to meddle in your business regardless of your past together.
“Well, I guess I should get going,” you announce finally.
Johnny nods and takes a step closer to you, “Oh here, let me help.”
You don’t even realise Johnny taking the basket from you and securing the handle in his hand because you’re too engrossed with how he’s gotten too close to you for a mere two seconds. Still, you don’t protest when you fully grasp the situation and lead the way towards the tills instead. Johnny follows you silently and unloads your basket when you arrive at a free till. You avoid his eyes when he empties your basket completely, fully aware of how he’s examining the contents of the object that he’s set aside neatly. Johnny doesn’t ask any questions though and you mentally thank him. He takes it upon himself to collect everything inside your grocery bag and after you’ve paid for everything, he carries it and makes the effort to bring it all the way to your car.
“Thanks Johnny. You really didn’t have to,” you say when he finishes putting the bag into the boot of your car.
Johnny smiles and straightens himself after shutting the door close. “It’s nothing. Don’t mention it.”
“Drive safe, okay?” You say to him, returning his smile.
Johnny nods, “You too Y/n.” You’re about to turn away from him to make your way to the driver’s seat when he speaks again. “Let’s uhh.. grab coffee sometime?”
The sudden offer catches you off guard and it’s obvious in the way your limbs grow weak. There’s a bashful smile playing on his lips and a tint of red spreading on his cheeks to match it. Nostalgia seeps through your bloodstream and a part of you wants to say no, fearing for what it might entail, but the other part, the bigger part, pushes you to say yes, secretly intrigued in what coffee might have in store.
“Okay.”
Johnny asks for your number that night and when he dials your number for his to be saved on your phone, you realise it’s the exact same number from five years ago.
Tumblr media
“So you’re staying for good?” Ten asks as he takes a bite of his pizza.
It’s a Friday night and the much awaited reunion with Johnny was finally happening in Ten’s house. It reminds Johnny of the old times, of when they were all much younger and caught each other everyday for lunch in university, of when they were all just trying to come to terms with adulthood. Sitting on the table surrounded with friends he spent the most crucial years of his life with makes him feel nostalgic yet happy at the same time. It’s been too long he thinks, it has been way too long.
Johnny takes a sip of his soda and nods shortly, “Yeah. It seems so.”
“That’s good,” Jaehyun, who’s sitting beside Johnny at the round table, grins. “Glad to have you back John.”
Johnny smiles gratefully as he lands both of his palms on his thighs. He sits up on his seat then, straightening his back. “So what did I miss?”
Being the sharp person Johnny is, he doesn’t miss the way Ten and Jaehyun share a quick glance at each other across the table. He raises a quick brow but doesn’t prod.
Ten smiles awkwardly and turns his body to Johnny who’s expecting an answer. “Nothing much really.”
“Y-yeah,” Jaehyun butts in. “Nothing interesting happened while you were gone.”
Johnny laughs and playfully raises a brow at the two. “You sure? You guys look guilty.”
Ten opens his mouth to say something when the ringing of the doorbell echoes through the house. He gets up almost immediately and looks more flustered than he intended to reveal. Jaehyun shakes his head disapprovingly at his friend who is whizzing out of the kitchen and out to the hallway.
“Must be Taeyong,” Jaehyun mutters under his breath before he’s getting up to follow Ten as Johnny follows suit.
“Hey guys!” Jaehyun and Johnny hear Ten say by the front door. Johnny sees you and Taeyong standing by the door, greeting the host when he stops in his tracks just behind Jaehyun.
“Youngho be careful!”
Johnny’s ears perk up at the name that leaves your mouth and before he can train his eyes on you, a small figure runs past Ten and into Jaehyun who immediately scoops him into his arms.
“Uncle Jae I missed you!” he pipes up, making Jaehyun chuckle.
From where Johnny is standing, he sees the face of the child who has his arms wrapped around Jaehyun’s neck and is resting his head on Jaehyun’s shoulders. The child stares at Johnny, his big brown orbs blinking at the stranger.
You on the other hand, witness the whole thing and you have to grab a hold of Taeyong’s arm to steady yourself when you see Johnny inside. Taeyong glances at you and then at Ten and then at Jaehyun who’s absentmindedly entertaining the toddler. His eyes fall on Johnny who’s staring at the child intently, brows furrowed in the middle and expression unreadable.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t know you were bringing Youngho,” Ten whispers apologetically to you, making you tear your eyes off Johnny.
You shake your head in response, feeling a slight comfort settle inside you when Taeyong’s palm rubs your back gently.
“No Ten, it’s fine,” you mumble though not quite convincing yourself or Ten. You certainly missed the memo that Johnny would be present tonight.
You pretend everything is okay during dinner and the rest of the guys get your message when they do the exact same thing as you; pretend. There’s occasional laughter that burst at the table and you laugh along even when you don’t understand what the conversation was about to make it seem like you don’t feel the need to shrink under Johnny’s gaze who hasn’t left you ever since you sat down opposite him. You focus all of your attention to helping Youngho with his food, sitting quietly between you and Taeyong. Every now and then Taeyong would help feed Youngho just so you could have the opportunity to eat as well. You and Taeyong share silent glances at each other and it mostly consists of Taeyong raising his brow at you in pure concern, knowing all too well just how tense you are right now.
“Mommy, I’m full,” Youngho says when you attempt to feed him another spoonful.
You nod absentmindedly and reach across the table for a napkin that’s too far for your reach. Johnny, who’s been watching you this whole time, leans forward to grab the stack so that he can hand it to you. The chatter stops momentarily and everyone’s eyes falls upon the two of you as you take the object from Johnny, muttering a soft thanks in the process. When you settle back in your seat, you wipe away the excess food that had settled on your son’s lips. Youngho smiles at you then and you smile back, grateful that he made everything feel better even without him knowing, and even at such a nerve-wrecking time.
Jaehyun who’s sitting beside you, lands his hand on your arm and uses his thumb to rub it. You are met with soft eyes and dimples and you manage to give him a small smile, bringing your hand to land on top of his as a token of gratitude for his silent acts of comfort.
“So Johnny, I heard about Suh industries,” Taeyong says and it’s only this time that Johnny tears his gaze away from you. “That’s some amazing stuff.”
“Thanks Tae,” Johnny starts. “Actually, me and the guys were just talking about it before you arrived, looks like I’m staying for good,” he finishes and spares a quick glance towards your direction, one that you catch.
You feel Youngho shift in his seat and a second after, you feel him leaning towards you. You lean towards him when you realise he wants to say something to you. “Mommy, who is he?” he attempts to whisper in your ear, but it comes out much louder and you’re sure everyone else heard.
“Baby, he’s an old friend of ours,” you whisper back in his ear. When you sit back on your chair properly, everyone is staring the you and Youngho who’s innocently looking towards Johnny’s direction, in pure curiosity.
“I’m Johnny,” Johnny says suddenly, smiling at your son. Youngho only blinks up at him, the unfamiliarity of the stranger making him hide behind Taeyong’s arm. “I’m a friend of your mom’s. and your uncles’.”
Ten eyes you carefully and you nod at him, reassuring him you’re okay.
“What’s your name?” Johnny asks and you close your eyes momentarily before gazing at your son who by now has scooted fully towards Taeyong’s side. You wait for your son to answer and you hold in your breath.
“Y-Youngho,” your son replies.
You’re the first to excuse yourself for the night when Youngho falls asleep in Jaehyun’s arms. You’re unsure about the turn of events, especially after tonight but seeing Johnny tonight really sucked the energy out of you and so all you want to do right now was to get away and not think for the rest of the night. You know there are questions that need to be raised and issues that need to be cleared but for a second time, tonight at least, you choose to run away.
“Thanks for the dinner Ten,” you say as you give him a hug by the front door of his house.
Ten responds by hugging you tighter, “Thank you for coming, and I’m really sorry about tonight,” he murmurs into your ear.
When he lets go of you, you only smile at him, knowing all too well that nothing was his fault.
“You’re sure you don’t want me to drive you home?” Taeyong asks as you reach up to hug him next.
“I promise we’ll be okay,” You reassure him, hugging him a little longer so that the nerves inside of you would calm.
Taeyong caresses your hair and tighten his arms around you when he feels you not letting go anytime soon, “You did really well tonight. And don’t beat yourself up too much alright?”
You nod against his shoulder before peeling yourself away from him. Johnny only smiles at you when you reach him next and it’s a smile that knocks air out of you. You awkwardly shift in your spot, not really knowing what to say to him because you knew. You knew that even when he’s here, pretending nothing was out of the ordinary, he had burning questions that needed to be answered by you.
“We’ll get going then,” you say, earning a nod from him.
You don’t say anything more as you turn on your heels to walk out of the house and towards your car with Jaehyun carrying Youngho in his arms.
“What a night, huh,” Jaehyun says after he straps the sleeping Youngho into his car seat.
You exhale a breath and feel your shoulders slump out of exhaustion. “What a night indeed.”
“You think he knows?” Jaehyun asks softly when he embraces you.
Your limbs feel weak beneath Jaehyun at the thought and focus on inhaling the lavender scent of his shirt instead.
“I have no idea.”

Fox Mulder x Reader
Words: 1663
Part 2 of 3
Part One
Summary: When a serial killer that Mulder helped put away escapes the institution, he decides to pay a visit to his favorite FBI behavioral analyst. You educate yourself on all the disturbing facts of the case. When the killer begins to take an interest in Mulder’s pretty little partner, you become more entangled than you could have imagined.
Notes: I’m really excited for the darkness of this series, but writing sad Mulder is honestly also really fun. Sorry. Same warnings as the first part. Also, don’t panic if you don’t see X-Files on my masterlist along with a few other imagines. I’m putting together a 80s/90s masterlist and that’s where they are all going. Let me know what you think as always!
-
Mulder got to your apartment before the police did. You were sitting on the ground around the corner, knees pulled up to your chest.
“Y/N!” He shouted, sprinting up the stairs two at a time. When he found you, your eyes were red and your lip trembled as you spoke.
“I-It’s on m-my door.” You stammered. He peeked around the corner at the butchered animal.
“Sange.” He muttered angrily before taking you up in his arms. “He’s just trying to scare you to get to me.” He kept his hand on the back of your head, running his fingers soothingly through your hair.
“How does he even know where to find me?” You asked, breaking away to look at him, trying to compose yourself. You were trained to deal with this kind of thing.
“He does his homework.” Mulder sighed. You could hear the sounds of the police storming up the stairs. Mulder locked his fingers through yours and you felt yourself leaning against him, supporting your weight when your legs still wanted to buckle.
This psychopath knew who you were. He knew where you lived. And he was coming after Mulder.
“Now what?” You asked, finding your balance again and stepping back to look at your door. Mulder put a hand on your cheek, taking your eyes away from the bloody animal.
“I think you should step away from the case.” He knew that you would object so he kept going before you could interrupt. “And obviously you can’t stay at your apartment. I don’t think mine would be much safer. Maybe you could stay with Scully.”
“No, Mulder, I want to be with you.” You tugged on his shirt. “I don’t think you should be alone either. It’s you he’s really after.” He opened his mouth to argue, but you stopped him like he had you. “And don’t say you can handle this, because you can’t. Not alone.”
The police finally arrived and asked you questions you could barely hear. You just kept staring at the fox. You told him as many details as you could, but this was still an FBI investigation and was therefore out of the officer’s hands. Mulder was talking to Scully who had just finished up doing the autopsies of both guards.
“How is she?” She looked over at your calm expression as you spoke with the police officer, but she could see the fear in your eyes.
“She’s undeterred.” Mulder sighed. “I told her to take a step back from the case, but we both know that’s not going to happen.”
“I could say the same thing about you.” Scully pointed out. “He did tie a mutilated fox to her door.”
“He made it pretty clear that I’m already a target. Now she’s one too.” He looked over to you with worried eyes and Scully put a hand on his arm.
“This isn’t your fault, Mulder.” Her tone was almost disbelieving. Mulder was always so sure of his actions. It was rare to see him scared. He turned back to her grave gaze and shrugged her hand away.
“I better get some of her things.”
-
Neither of you said much on the ride over to his apartment. You could tell how much this was eating at him, but you were afraid your voice would give away your fear. When he parked, his hand still on the gear shift, his eyes shifted nervously to the building. You put your hand on top of his.
“Mulder…” You took a deep breath. “I may not know exactly what’s going on in that head of yours, but I know that you’re blaming yourself for all of this.” You moved your hand to rest on his cheek. “You have to know that it isn’t. This is just the work of a psychopath who managed to escape. Without you, they wouldn’t have caught him to begin with. You saved god knows how many people from becoming future victims.”
“But now he’s out and he’s added you to the list.” Mulder argued. His green blue eyes determinedly looked anywhere but you, as if staring out at the street would conjure Sange. You turned his face towards you and kissed him. Fox was hesitant at first, wanting to keep his guard up, but he melted everytime you pressed your lips to his. You pulled back, happy to see that his eyes were focused on you alone.
“Fox, I-” A loud crash from outside the car put both of you on edge again. You both grabbed your weapons and stepped out of the car, nerves on high alert.
“Y/N, go up to my apartment and lock the door.” Mulder instructed. “Don’t let anyone in unless it's me.” You nodded and quickly went inside, looking back to see him disappear around a corner into an alleyway.
Mulder kept his gun out in front of him, cautiously walking down the alley to follow the sound of the crash. His eyes slowly adjusted to the dark, his heart racing with anticipation as the moving form became more visible. He lowered his weapon as a stray cat emerged from the trash can it had knocked over. He shooed it away, irritated with his own paranoia. He wouldn’t be able to sleep until Sange was behind bars or in the ground.
Walking up the steps to his apartment, his feet felt heavier. As if his body could sense something his brain couldn’t. He started to unlock his door when he saw the piece of paper taped just above the apartment number. It’s writing was unnervingly perfect, every curve and line as if a machine had written in.
You didn’t think you were the only fox in the hen house, did you?
He threw the door open and sprinted inside.
“Y/N!” He shouted his eyes scanning his rooms wildly. “Y/N!” It didn’t matter how many times he called out. You were gone.
-
Your head throbbed as you opened your eyes, dried blood covering your ear from where Sange had hit you. Sange. You used any strength you could muster to stand, though the room you were in was only big enough for you to crouch. It looked like you were inside of a wall. There was a scraping sound and a brick pulled away, revealing a pair of beady black eyes. For a moment, you could have sworn you saw them turn red.
“Hello little chickadee.” He drawled. You shuttered as his eyes scanned over you, licking his lips.
“Stay the hell away from me.” You spat, pressing yourself against the back wall.
“Frightened little thing.” He ran his finger back and forth across the bricks. You took a deep breath and stood taller.
“I am not scared of you.” You’d been dealing psychos like him your whole career. You’d seen things you could never explain and you had faced conspiracies that threatened the whole of the human race. He clicked his tongue.
“I appreciate your spirit. It makes things more interesting.” He walked around the room on the other side of the wall and you could hear a shuffle of metallic clicks. You slowly crept closing to the opening, peaking out into the other room. He was cleaning a collection of rifles, all sitting neatly on a table. “I know you’ve been reading your Mulder’s files on me. What conclusions have you drawn?”
“The same as everyone. You’re a cannibalistic psychopath. A Gentleman's Hannibal.”
“Why do you think the papers gave me that name?”
“I didn’t think to look.” You spat. He was toying with you. He looked up at you with a smirk.
“It’s because I treat my kills like a fox hunt. You know, when men of high society would gather on horseback, unleash the dogs, and track the animal.” He aimed a rifle at you and you stumbled backwards. He chuckled. “You, my dear, are the fox. And so were all the others. I used to have a large property with acres upon acres of forest. It was beautiful.” His voice trailed off.
“I heard it was turned into a strip mall.” You snarked. He banged his hand against the wall, making you jump.
“Thanks to Agent Mulder, we’ll have to make other plans.” He shoved the brick back into place, leaving you in the dark.
-
Mulder was rifling through file after file hoping- praying- that something would give him a clue as to where Sange had taken you. Properties that he still owned, people he was close to, any abandoned buildings in the area. Nothing.
“Damn it!” He screamed, knocking every paper off of his desk. Scully hesitated to knock, but figured it was better than just leaving him alone.
“Mulder?” She knocked on the door and waited for a response.
“Come in.” His voice was small. Defeated. He was kneeling down, gathering the papers back up. He couldn’t bring himself to look up.  “He took her.”
“I know.” Scully sighed. She held an envelope in her hands. Maybe this wasn’t a good time. She had made sure no one else had seen it, but she didn’t even know if it was from Sange. It was just left at her apartment. No name. No address. Nothing.
“What is it?” Mulder asked, finally looking at her. His face was stained with tears. He was really scared of this guy. She showed him the envelope.
“I went home to clear my head and I found this tucked under my door.” She explained. “I don’t know if it’s from-” Mulder tore it from her hands and ripped it open. Inside, was a small note and something else.
“Release the hounds, Agent Scully.” He read, the words burning into his brain. He threw the note onto his desk. “The hunt has begun.”
“What else is in the envelope?” She asked, but she immediately wished she hadn’t. She felt sick as Mulder dumped the contents into his hand. A bloody, matted chunk of Y/N’s hair.

Chapter 3: the attic
With Mono in the lead we walked up the creaky stairs. I wanted to take the music box with me that Six has been playing, since it seemed like the Box was the only thing making her just a little happier, but she said it was no use taking it with us.” It will only weight us down” she said. Mono looked down at that moment as well, maybe he was also disappointed by that statement. I guess  he means well after all. Doesn’t say I trust him right away. We reached a room with a handle hanging from the ceiling. Just straight ahead of us there’s a door with a lock on it, but no key in sight. “ Maybe the handle will open up to something where we could find the key” Mono said and let go of Six’s hand, finally, and jumped up to reach the handle. “how are you so sure it’s save?” I asked. “I don’t, but it’s at least worth a try right”? He said, making a final attempt at reaching the handle. He couldn’t quite reach it. “here, let me try” Six said letting go of my hand.
She jumped up just a little higher, and grabbed the handle first try. But she was too light to pull it properly. Without hesitation Mono jumped up and grabbed her feet, adding enough weight to pull the lever over. With a lot of noise, A big wooden ladder flung out of the ceiling, startling me. Six and Mono fell from the handle. I ran over to them “ are you ok Six”? I asked, kneeling down beside her on the ground. “ yeah, I’m fine” She said, standing up slowly. “ well ok”. I stood up as well, looking at the ladder Mono was already climbing. Six walked over there and I followed up behind. We climbed up the ladder into a dust filled room with boxes, some of them were open and ah strange face resembling items in them. Creepy. Mono climbed up a suitcase  and tried to jump to a cabinet, but it was no use, the distance was too big. Six started trying to move the suitcase after he landed his second attempt, and he helped her shove it towards the cabinet. “ thanks, come on” Six said, climbing the cabinet from the suitcase.
I simply flew up, flying over and landing beside her on the other side. “ Now what” I asked before even looking around. “well, there is a key up there on the hook” Mono stated, pointing at a key hanging quite far above our heads. “ Maybe that’s the key we need”. “Wait, Crow, you can fly up there and grab the key” Six said. I beamed, finally I was of use. I nodded and walked up to where the key was overhead. I jumped and flapped my wings up to where the key was.  I grabbed it form the hook and flew down again. It was a little heavy on the hands. “ Here, I have something on my jacket to hang the key onto so you don’t have to carry it” Mono said, reaching out for the key. I was hesitant, but then again, he also wanted to get out of here I guess. I cautiously handed him the key, and he attached it on his coat.
He nodded. “let’s get out of here” I said, walking over to the ladder. I jumped down and unfolded my wing so I could land downstairs. It was too much fun, flying. Mono Climbed down right behind, but slipped onto one of the steps and fell. I shot forward and grabbed his hand out of instinct. I fell slightly embarrassed and I felt a faint blush creeping up my face. I flew both of us down, setting him on the ground first. “ Thank you for catching me”! he beamed. I started fidgetting with my hands nervously, whispering a no problem.
Six was now down as well, smiling towards me. What was she so happy about?  Mono walked to the door and put the key in the lock, twisting it with ease. Guess he’s quite strong. He pushed against the door and I copied him, the door slowly opened and we stood outdoors. For some reason, Mono ran directly a little wooden hut, if you could even call it that. He could reach the handle though, of course. I flew up the handle, and opened the door for him “ wow, such teamwork you two” Six grinned. I looked at her and pouted. “ he’s pathetic, he couldn’t even reach the handle, so I decided as the good person I am to help them out” I said sassy, I didn’t want to admit that I just wanted to help him out cause he didn’t seem to be too bad.
I was startled when I heard a loud static sound, and I saw Six look at Mono with eyes as big as dinner plates. “It happened again” she whispered. Mono walked out with his hand against his paperbag. “man, those kids always leave me a headache, but they always lure me in”. Nothing could sound more mysterious. “what do you mean kids”? I asked curiously. He looked down. “It’s hard to explain, they’re like ghosts, whenever I get near, they disappear, leaving me with a temporary headache” He looked at me. “ I don’t even fully know what they are or what they mean” I landed on the ground, I felt kindof sorry for him. “let’s move on” Six suggested. I nodded and so did Mono, but a little more slowly.
We walked to another hut, with a very much convenient hole in the wall. We climbed through, and the 3 of us landed in a pile of an unknown but soft material. If it didn’t stink this much I would’ve  just lied down and took in all of its soft textures. I heard a strange ripping sound. Six gestured us both to stay quiet, so we crouched forward gently, when we where around the corner, we figured out who made the sound. It was Six and I’s captor, the bastard. I wanted to go up to him but six grabbed my arm, holding me back from attacking the guy.
We got past him and met a dead end, or so I thought. Six and Mono pushed against a small wooden door and it opened, but that didn’t go unnoticed. Six and Mono fell forward, and I ran after them. Our captor opened the door, getting his gun ready. I flew up, and shot towards the nearest tree, hiding in the leaves. For some reason, the hunter was more focused on Mono and Six rather than me, so I seemed more safe. He opened fire on them, but it was no use, since he seemed to only hit the stray boxes scattered around the backyard. I followed  form a little distance, heart pounding in my chest.
Six and Mono reached a ledge, and hid under it. The hunter looked around with his light, but luckily for me didn’t look up as I was hiding in a nearby tree. Once the hunter walked further I quietly got to the two. I landed next to Six, who looked at me astounded. “ how did he not notice you”? she whispered.  I shrugged. She grabbed Mono’s an I’s hand and lead us forward, sneaking through the tall grass. A few crows where feasting on some unknown meat, but we unfortunately scared them and they flew away, I froze as the light of the lantern shone on us, and Mono and Six stood still as well.
The light moved and so did we as we went onward again. We reached the end of the patch as I spotted a hole somewhere in the ground underneath a tree. When the hunter shined his light somewhere else Six let go of my hand as she made a run for it, and so did Mono, I followed quickly behind. them before he could notice. I fell down into the hole as I heard the crack off the gun, a bullet shot just past me into the ground, just grazing one of my feathers. I scurried forward into the tunnel before he could land more precise hits on me, following Six and Mono. I looked at my wing but my feathers didn’t seem to be very damaged, it was just a little edge. We walked through the tunnel and crept past a few roots and almost stumbled forward over each other. We made our way forward in silence, and reached a broken down bridge.
“ Crow, could you please pull that stick over there”? Six pointed at a branch that leaned against a pole. I walked over to the branch and pulled it backwards. A part of the bridge lifted up and I kept pulling till I could get it any further. Mono and Six jumped over the ravine and I let go of the twig, since I couldn’t hold it anymore. I fell forward but stood up rather quickly. I jumped and beat my wings, landing on the other side of the ravine rather quickly. We walked a little further and saw a few cages piled onto each other, and almost all of them where kid sized. A shiver went down my spine. I looked at the others and saw Mono looking up one of the cages hanging from a tree branch curiously. “ what’s the deal”? I asked. He jumped just a little, shocked by my sudden voice and looked at me. “ I see something up there, something that looks like a hat”! He said, enthusiastically. What was so special about hats? “ could you fly me up there please”? He asked. I shrugged “fine”. I walked over to him and stood in front, grabbing both his hands.  I flew up and lifted him off the ground, but he was way more heavier than Six. I struggled getting him up on the cage. He finally stood on the top of the cage. “ jeesh, you’re quite heavy” I remarked.
Mono looked away quite embarrassed. I heard Six snicker down on the ground. “ I wouldn’t want to lift you up from the ground as well Crow” I pouted “ What do you mean”? I said. “ well you’re much taller than the both of us so you must be heavier as well”. She said. Meanwhile, Mono started jumping on the cage. “ how old are you actually Crow kid”? Mono asked while jumping up and down.
I thought for a minute “11”  The rope snapped and the cage fell down. Mono fell forward on his knees slightly but didn’t seem too injured after that fall. “ What”!? They both yelled. I landed onto the ground and shrugged. “ in about 9 months i’ll be turning 12” I said. Both their mouths where agape, Six was the first one to speak up. “if I remember right, I just turned 9” she said. “ I think I’m 10, but I’m not sure”. Mono said. Then something downed on me. “My Tallymarks! I don’t have anything to count the days with now so I don’t know when im turning 12”! I panicked. Mono and six looked at each other. “ It’s summer right now right?” Six said. “What if every summer, we collectively have our birthday?”
She suggested. I thought to myself for a moment, and Mono seemed to do so as well. “ Sounds like a magnificent plan”! He cheered. I nodded, staring at the ground. I was sad that I lost my count, but kind of happy I got to celebrate my birthday now with them. Mono walked into the open cage, grabbing the hat he was looking for. He magically made the paperbag disappear, revealing his face and putting on the new yellow hat. I snickered. “Pffff you guys are match now” I giggled. Six pouted at me and Mono’s face momentarily flushed pink. “let’s j-just carry on” Mono whispered, keeping his head down. I walked up next to Mono and I was just as mesmerized by his face as I was with Six’s.
His eyes looked a weird kind of grey with a pupil, and he had a pale greyish skin. His hair was a warm dark brown color, so dark that it was almost black. I was too lost in thought to notice that the hunter was nearby again. Six and Mono whisper yelled for me to watch out and stay back, but I walked forward into his field of vision. I was quickly and abruptly pulled out of my own head by the sight of the barrel of a gun, pointing at me in the face.

Feelings For You

Pounding. That was the first thing you registered. The incessant pounding behind your eyes, pulsing through your temples, everywhere in your head, really. Scratch that, everywhere in your entire body. What happened last night? You were pretty sure there was a bar, but you were positive that there was booze. Unwillingly, you let out a soft groan as you tried to gather your bearings. Well, first of all, you were totally naked, which was not a regular occurrence, but also not the worst thing you could've woken up to, all things considered. Now, there was just a matter of finding out where the hell you were. Hopefully, one of the boys had driven you home last night; otherwise, you were in deep shit. When you tried to open your eyes, the blinding light of a lamp from a bedside table pierced through your vision. Whimpering softly, you squeezed your eyes shut again. Damned hangovers. Someone groaned next to you, and despite your resistance to face the day, your eyes flew open, the tableside lamp forgotten. You knew that groan all too well. After years of sleeping in motel rooms together, it wasn't difficult to place. As you rolled over, you prayed that your brain had made an incorrect assumption, and you weren't in bed with a Winchester. A pair of hazel eyes squinted over at you as your heart hammered loudly in your chest. Sam's hair stuck up wildly in a halo of frizz around his face as he sat up. Groaning again, he passed a hand over his face.
"Y/N?" he asked, voice still rough from sleep. As he noticed the only thing covering you was a sheet, his eyes widened. "Is... is there a reason you're naked in my bed?" You eyed his chiseled abs, unable to help yourself, and blushed.
"Well, to be fair, you're naked too," you pointed out. Sam looked down at himself and lifted the sheet slightly, eyes widening even more.
"We didn't have sex, did we?"
"I don't know about you," you began, trying to keep the snark in your voice to a minimum, "but if I wake up naked in bed with someone, usually more than just sleep happened." He blinked a few times with disbelief.
"How did we even-" Suddenly, your stomach lurched, and you bolted to the bathroom, clamping your hand down over your mouth. Barely making it to the toilet in time, your exposed knees slammed painfully against the cold tile. When your heaving had finally ceased, you spit one final time, trying to rid your mouth of the acidic taste as you held onto the toilet seat for dear life. "You okay?" Sam asked cautiously as he draped a sheet over your naked body. You eyed him warily, grateful he had found the time to pull on a pair of sweatpants.
"Sam, we had sex last night!" you exclaimed shrilly. "Drunk sex! Which is arguably the worst kind of sex, since I can't remember a damn thing! I mean, did we use protection? I mean, I'm on the pill, but-" Sam shook his head frantically.
"I know, I know," he said, trying to talk you down. "And I'm sorry. I really hope we didn't just ruin our friendship, Y/N. I know you have feelings for Dean, and I don't want to screw that up." Your eyes instantly widened.
"Dean?" you repeated incredulously. "Sam, I do not have feelings for Dean!" He stood quickly, looking flushed.
"It's okay," he reassured. "You don't have to hide it from me." Just as quickly as he had followed you, he was gone, leaving you alone.
Your hair was still damp from showering when you pulled it up into a messy bun. Dean greeted you with a grunt as he stumbled through the kitchen's archway. Looking over your shoulder at him, you snickered at the dark sunglasses he was wearing.
"Well, hello to you, too, sunshine. Looks like you've had a lively morning." He sat down at the table and groaned as you pulled two glasses from the cupboard.
"Mistakes were made," Dean grumbled.
"Tell me about it," you muttered to yourself, pouring two glasses of tomato juice. When you held the red liquid out to him, he eyed you over the top of his sunglasses. "Come on, it'll help with the hangover. And from the looks of you, you could sure as hell use it." Dean took the glass ruefully.
"You're one to talk, princess," he replied. "Your hangover face is a hell of a lot worse than mine." You downed three Tylenol with the juice, tossing him the bottle when you were finished.
"Well, at least my face could be fixed with a shower, hotshot," you bantered. "Yours, on the other hand..."
"You see, Y/N, there's a perfect remedy for my hangover face," he explained. You raised your eyebrows.
"Yeah? What's that?"
"Like, a thousand years of sleep, and you shutting the hell up." Snorting, you shook your head and turned around, stretching. As you did, you heard Dean splutter behind you.
"What's the matter with you?" you demanded, whirling around to see a fine mist of tomato juice settling on the kitchen table. Dean stood from his seat and came over to you, lifting the hem of your shirt above your left hipbone. You smacked his hand away. "Dean!"
"Are those bruises?" he demanded. Confused, you raised the shirt slightly yourself and stared at the light purple finger-shaped marks on your hip. He pointed to your neck. "And is that a hickey?" You clapped your hand over your neck, and he smirked.
"You hooked up with someone last night!" Dean leaned toward you. "What's his name?" You blushed.
"I, uh..." The older Winchester grinned widely.
"Didn't even get his name before you bumped uglies? Damn, Y/N. Didn't know you were such a minx." He picked up his glass from the table, raising it to his lips.
"It was Sam," you confessed quietly. Dean choked on his tomato juice.
"...I'm sorry, what?"
"I hooked up with Sam," you repeated. You were expecting him to be angry or upset, but instead, he just chuckled.
"'Bout damn time you two got together," he said under his breath. You looked at him in bewilderment, earning a roll of his eyes. "Oh, come on, Y/N. I know you're in love with him. I can see it in the way you look at him." You sunk into a nearby chair and held your face in your hands.
"I went and fucked everything up," you muttered miserably. Dean crouched at your side.
"I don't get it," he said, "ain't this a good thing?"
"He thinks I have feelings for you." Dean was quiet for a moment.
"Do you?" Not looking up, you punched him in the arm. "All right, all right! Just double-checking." He shook his head. "Okay, there's a real easy solution to this." Skeptical, you squinted over at him.
"What is it?" Before you could protest, Dean had you by the arm, pulling you down the hall towards Sam's room. "Dean, shit, really?"
"Hell yeah, Y/N," he replied seriously. "You two have been makin' eyes at each other for too damn long. Someone has to say something, might as well be you, right?"
"I don't think that's-" Dean rapped on Sam's door before throwing it open, shoving you into his room. Sam looked up from his laptop in surprise, his eyebrows practically shooting up into his hairline.
"Uh, Dean?"
"Y/N likes you," Dean explained, causing your face to go beet red. "Not me. So, you two sit down and figure this out, or so help me God, I will lock you in a room together until you do." Without another word, the oldest Winchester pulled the door shut, leaving you and Sam in stunned silence. Not the method you would have chosen, but you had to admit, if Dean hadn't forced you to do it, you weren't sure if you would have at all. When it became clear that Sam wasn't going to break the silence, you cleared your throat awkwardly.
"He, uh... isn't very subtle, is he?" He shook his head lightly.
"No, not really." You sat down on the mattress next to him as you breathed a sigh. "Y/N, why didn't you tell me?" Shoulders sagging, you shook your head.
"I tried!" was your answer. "Remember? This morning, I tried to tell you I didn't have feelings for Dean, but you didn't listen." Sam's eyes widened as if he was actually hearing you for the first time.
"But, I-I," he stammered. "You have feelings... for me?” Hearing him say the words made your heart skip a beat, and you nodded.
"I do."
"Why?" Sam asked incredulously. "I'm not-" Oh, for Christ's sake. You planted a firm kiss on his lips, effectively cutting him off. "You're so out of my league, Y/N," he whispered after a moment. You smiled gently at him.
"How about you let me decide that, okay?" Finally, he nodded and wrapped you in his warm embrace. You were going to have to remember to thank Dean later.

Dick’s Apartment Chapter 2: Bruce
https://archiveofourown.org/works/28088298/chapters/68953245#workskin
Introduction:
The day following Jason’s death had gone by so quickly, Bruce didn’t know what had happened, not really anyway. All he could see was Robin, Jason, his son, so bloody and bruised and broken. He was almost unrecognizable. Almost. But Bruce knew, he had seen that smiling face far too many times to not know. Jason was gone. He was gone and it was Bruce’s fault. He couldn’t breathe, he couldn’t think. He didn’t know where he was. Somewhere in the city, definitely not Gotham. The next thing he knew, he was looking down at Dick, sleeping peacefully in his bed, just like he used to on long nights after patrol. Dick who had been in countless situations just like the one that got his broth… that got Jason, killed. Was he even real? Was any of this real?
Dick
“Dick.”
His name, someone was calling his name. Breath flooded Dick’s lungs and he opened his eyes, jumping back at the sight in front of him. Batman...er, Bruce in the lightest layer of the batman suit, leaning only a few inches away from his face.
“Bruce?” His brain could not process… why was Bruce in his apartment? What time was it?
“Jason...” Bruce’s lower lip started to quiver. It never quivered. Something was very, very wrong.
“Bruce, I’m Dick, not Jason.” Definitely something wrong with his brain. Maybe a new strain of fear toxin? But then why would he be here and not the cave? And where was Jason anyway? Weren’t the two of them supposed to be in Africa or something?
“No, Jason, he’s…” Tears actually started flowing down Bruce’s face. Dick had never seen Bruce cry, not even once. This wasn’t fear toxin, this was real. That could only mean one thing… no. No, Jason couldn’t be.
“Bruce, where’s Jason?” Despite how much he tried to keep it steady, his voice still shook at the name, his brother’s name.
“Gone.”
Gone. The unspoken word followed without pause. Dead. Taken from the world, never to be seen again. Jason. His brother. He couldn’t… he couldn’t do this. First his parents, now his brother? The brother he had just started to get to know. The brother who relentlessly teased him about every little thing. The brother who always wore that baggy red hoodie no matter what the temperature was like outside. The brother he would never see smile again.
Unbidden tears started to flow down his face. He stared at a blank space on the wall in front of him and tried to slow his breathing. It helped, a little. As soon as the world slowed down it’s spinning he turned to look at Bruce, who was now kneeling on the floor next to Dick’s bed, with his head in his arms. He’d gone catatonic. Dick had only ever seen him this way once before,  when affected by one of scarecrow’s fear toxins he had yet to build an immunity to. He and Alfred had been able to calm him down, but only after they had shot him with an extra dose of antitoxin and Dick accidentally caught a punch with his face. But this time was different, there wasn’t a cure for this because it wasn’t drug induced. Jason was really gone, and Bruce was going to snap, if he hadn’t already.
Dick cautiously reached out to touch Bruce’s arm. His head snapped up instantly, and it took everything in Dick’s power to not reach for the knife concealed right behind his nightstand. That is, until he looked in Bruce’s eyes. The man couldn’t stop crying. He was broken. Bruce reached up to touch Dick’s face, and after initially pulling back, Dick eventually leaned forward and let his former guardian touch him.
“It’s okay Bruce.” he cooed, trying to keep his tone steady, “I’m still here.”
That must’ve sunk in, because Bruce started to take some deep breaths, calming himself down, just like he taught Dick to do in emergency situations. Pretty soon, he was able to stand up on his own. At which point he kind of awkwardly leaned against the wall in the bedroom. Dick took the chance to glance down at his clock, 3:00 AM. Well, there went any hope he had for sleep before work in the morning. He grudgingly climbed off the end of his bed, so as to not disturb Bruce, and shuffled his way into the kitchen. Coffee. He needed coffee, and maybe a drink. Bruce probably did too.
“I-I should go.” Bruce mumbled, from his position in the bedroom.
“No way.” Dick said, a lot more coherently than he felt, “You don’t get to break into my apartment and wake me up in the middle of the night to tell me terrible news with no explanation and then ditch me after having a come-apart on my bedroom floor. Not gonna happen. So, do you want coffee or bourbon or both?”
Bruce just grunted and made his way over to the small, cluttered table that was the closest thing to a dining room Dick had in his tiny apartment. The two of them just stood there in silence for a few minutes while the water got heated. Jason, dead. That couldn’t be possible. He’d just seen him like, what, a week ago? He had just helped dismantle a drug ring that was terrorizing the city, most of the guys hadn’t even been prosecuted yet. How could he be gone? Dick didn’t notice the stray tear falling down his face until the coffee pot started making that screeching noise that indicated it was almost done. He wiped it off his face before getting down two mugs and pulling the milk and sugar from his fridge.
Bruce always said he liked his coffee black, but Dick knew that he secretly preferred a small splash of milk to dull some of the coffee’s sharper tastes. He poured the black liquid into the two cups then took down the bourbon and splashed a bit in as well. This was going to be a long night (morning?), whatever.
“Here.” The force with which Dick set the mug on the table made a little of the hot liquid splash onto some stray papers.
Bruce stayed leaning up against the wall, looking at the open window like a bird, or a bat, ready to take flight.
“Sit down and tell me what happened.”
Bruce simply glared at him.
“Bruce,” Dick chided, “how did he… what went wrong?”
Bruce still stood aloof next to the window, but decided to reach for the coffee and took a sip.
“If you aren’t here to talk, why did you come?”
He put the mug down, “I need you to stop.”
Dick raised his eyebrows in confusion, “Stop what?”
“Nightwing.”
Dick’s jaw clenched automatically. His head shook a little with the effort it took to contain his ever amounting rage. Hadn’t they already had this conversation before? Didn’t Bruce remember where this conversation got them last time?
“Will you ever stop...” he began, but couldn’t finish. Treating me like a child ...or... being batman … Dick couldn’t decide which would be the more fitting end to the question. Somehow, Bruce knew exactly what he meant. The answer to both questions forming in his mind was answered in a simple,
“No.”
The rest of the morning was spent in relative silence. Bruce had made it fairly clear that he would not tell Dick about what had happened with Jason, and Dick was honestly too tired to press. He figured he’d just hack into the batcomputer next chance he got and find out what happened for himself. Bruce would eventually need to answer his questions, but Dick figured they could remain unanswered until Bruce got his head back on straight. Besides, his mind was too full of all the memories and emotion that he didn’t think he would really hear Bruce even if he did explain himself.
Fifteen minutes until five and Dick finally broke the silence, “Look, I have a meeting with the Titans in a couple minutes and you need some sleep. There are some sheets in the nightstand by my bed and the couch is pretty comfortable, so crash there if you need to.”
Bruce lifted his head up in slight acknowledgement of what Dick had said, but quickly regained his brooding stature. Standing there in the dim morning light he looked more like a gargoyle than a real person. For once, Dick thought he could understand why Bruce chose to name himself after a bat, the two creatures shared an eerie similarity; the natural ability to strike terror into the heart of a bystander.
Dick eventually left to go get ready for his meeting. By the time he came out of the bathroom, he found that Bruce had pulled the sheets out of the drawer and laid them on the sofa. He also noticed half of his bottle of bourbon was gone. Dick couldn’t remember the last time he had seen Bruce drink. What could have gone so wrong? But there was no time to pry answers out of the stubborn bat, they would just have to wait.
So as Dick turned to leave for the day he looked at Bruce for just a moment and said, “I expect you’ll be ready to actually talk to me when I return.”
With that, he left.

Dick came back to an empty apartment. It looked exactly as he had left it, not a trace of Bruce anywhere, save the unlocked window and the empty bottle of bourbon in the trash. Dick could almost pretend it was a dream, just another bad nightmare. But deep down he knew Bruce had told the truth. Jason was dead.
The weight of it all slammed into him at once, and he found himself crouched on the ground gasping for air through tear soaked sobs. Jason was dead. He couldn’t move, so he didn’t. Dick stayed there, frozen on the ground, paralyzed in sadness until dawn rose to greet him once more.
Notes:
This takes place in a slightly altered version of canon where Dick wasn’t off-world at the time of Jason’s death. However, I tried my best to make it so that the events of New Titans #55 could still make sense (with a few minor adjustments), because I think the way they wrote it was actually pretty well done.

Black coffee steamed in it’s mug as it sat out in the open, wind swirling it in different patterns. The swirls of steam looked like it was dancing a tango, as if the beat it was dancing too kept getting faster and faster until a sudden stop and the steam disappears, signifying the end of a dramatic dance.
Black ink stained up the side of your hand as you furiously wrote away, you just couldn’t get the equation right and you couldn’t use your powers, not yet. You were on the run from the commission as they wanted to use you for your powers, it was a valuable asset, time travel and dimension jumping, the Handler said it could open a whole new market for them but once you refused they came after you.
You’d got the equation wrong while you were running and you got stuck, you got stuck somewhere, an abandoned world that hadn’t been looked after. Years and years passed with you stuck in the wasteland of a world until the Handler came back but you couldn’t say no otherwise you’d die alone with no chance of seeing your loved ones again. So you became a killer to survive, you kept to yourself. In that world it was kill or be killed.
After years of service you thought you had the equation, endless nights of black coffee and sleep deprivation you thought you’d got it right. All you wanted to do is go and see your family again but next thing you knew you were 16 years old again and stuck in some random dimension but it was a start. You had removed any form of tracker the Handler had on you back in 1854 after completing your last mission.
During your time in the small town you’d managed to get a small job to rent a tiny one bedroom apartment, it wasn’t the best but it would do for the time being, until you get the maths right.
You let out an exasperated sigh, slamming your pen down on your scribble ridden page. It was a bright but nippy day meaning you could sit outside in peace and be uninterrupted. Griddy’s was always quiet on week days, the perfect time to go for a black coffee and just go over everything that’s happened, it’s good to do that sometimes, just to think and remember.
Reaching for your coffee, you underestimated the distance between the mug and your hand resulting in the mug falling. You open a portal under it so it falls right into your hand and take a sip, placing it down gently in it’s original place.
“How did you do that?” A boy was suddenly next to you, an excitable expression present on his face. He looked about the same age as you, but he had a look in his eyes, like he’d seen some things.
“What do you mean?” You ask, pretending to be confused, taking another sip of your coffee. You watched as he pulled the seat opposite to you out and sat down crossing his arms and legs simultaneously. He looked at you with a slight smirk.
“You’re y/n, aren’t you?” He leant back in his chair, scanning you up and down. “I’ve heard so much about you.” His eyes could tell 1000 stories but you could tell that he had no one to tell, no one would understand.
“huh, interesting, I’m not going to lie to you, I don’t really know who you are.” You say matching his movements but making sure you can have easy access to some form of weapon of he attacks. For all you knew he could be part if the commission finally catching up to you.
“I’m Five, ex-commission.” You narrow your eyes at him as he sticks his hand out, you take a glance at his hand. You reach out but just before you meet his hand you grab the handle of your mug, bringing it to your lips. Fives hand drops and he lets out a breathy laugh, crossing his arms again.
“I would introduce myself but you seem to already know who I am so I guess there’s no need.” You give him a sickly sweet smile before taking another sip. You had heard a little bit about Five, he had a similar story to you, stuck in an apocalypse, ran away from the Commission to see his family and tried (and succeeded) to stop the apocalypse.
Five couldn’t believe his eyes when he first saw what you did with the mug, there was only one person who he had heard that could do that, y/n. Five had heard rumours upon rumours about y/n, an example of some is that she was the most deadly killer the commission had ever seen and the prettiest person the universe had ever seen, and Five couldn’t agree more. He couldn’t imagine you ever killing anybody, your hair loosely hung with strands tucked behind your ear. Five took in your soft features, the warmth of your eyes and the freckles that littered all over your face and arms, presumably from the years in the apocalypse.
“It’s rude to stare.” You tell Five, not even looking up from your writings. Out of the corner of your eye you see him shift uncomfortably, averting his eyes. “Listen, I don’t know why you’re still here but if you’re lying about being ex-commission and are here to try and kill me I think you should reconsider your options because we both know who will make it out alive.”
“I’m not lying about being ex-commission, I know what it’s like and I think I can help you with getting back.” Locking eyes with Five, you saw the sincerity in his eyes. He held out his hand, you think about the worst possible outcomes from this situation, you take his hand.
You had never travelled the way Five normally does, you just were not used to it. As soon you reached the desired destination your knees gave out and a wave of nausea washed over you. A retching sound made it’s way out of your body as you cover your mouth with shaking hands, as if that would stop you from being sick.
“How the fuck do you travel like that?” You almost shout at Five, staring at him from the floor, you didn’t even know where you were, you didn’t care. Another wave came over you again along with a banging headache. The one thing that you were grateful for in the Commission is that they let you travel how you wanted, the first time you had used a briefcase you could’t stop shaking and being sick which wasn’t the most efficient if you needed to complete a mission.
With a flash of blue Five was holding a glass of water crouched down next to you. “Here take this.” He held the glass closer to you.
“How is making me sick going to help me get home?” You say cautiously taking the glass from his hand. You sit up straight and try to take a deep breath in.
“Just show me your equations, I’ll see what I can do.”
Days turned into weeks, then weeks into months. The more time you spent with Five the more you began to forget about the equation. Truth be told, you got the right equation about 3 weeks into working on it with Five. After years of being alone you liked spending all this time with Five, you were both equally as emotionally deprived as each other, both in need of a friend who you could relate to.
Feelings for Five was also a newly developed emotion, the more time you spent with him the stronger these feelings got and all of his family could tell. You had met the Hargreeves on many occasions, often getting comments about how much you had made him come out of his shell since he stopped the apocalypse. But it’s not like you wouldn’t do couply things, if that was even a word, you would hold hands, cuddle and exchange compliments back and forth all the time. It was done so casually, as if you both didn’t know what to do with your feelings.
You were currently laid down with your head in Fives lap as he absentmindedly ran his fingers through your hair, occasionally twirling stands in his fingers. It was a summers day, natural light streamed through the open window, giving the room a natural glow.
“y/n,” He lightly taps your nose. “You’re really pretty.”
You smile, leaning into his touch. You knew you had to tell him at some point, about the equation, you just didn’t know how. Sighing, you sat up and faced Five, you noticed in the past months how his features had softened from the hard, brooding looks he used to give.
“Five, I’ve found the equation.”
“What?”
“I’ve found the equation.” You repeat with more force. “But I’m torn, I don’t know what to do.” You searched his face, trying to read the emotion. “I miss my family so much. But I don’t want to leave here, you’ve shown me theres so much in this timeline.” His face dropped.
Five didn’t want to sound selfish but he didn’t want you to leave, the past few months had been the best time of his life, he’d found someone who understands him. Y/N never questioned his coping mechanisms, you had actually made him accept his own past and move on with his life. He doesn’t know what he’d do without you. Five eyes began to sting, he felt a wave of sadness but also anger, he felt himself getting warm, an uncontrollable range swept over, consuming any other emotion that was in it’s way.
“How long have you had it for.” Five had a quite voice, not looking you in the eyes.
“A few months.” You watch as Fives fist clenched. “Five I-” But he had cut you off.
“So you’ve just been leading me on.” Five eyes met yours. They weren’t the soft, welcoming eyes you had come to love, they were cold, hard and shut off, the only emotion you could see in his eyes was anger.
“What no, why would you-”
“Maybe you should just leave.” Your chest sank, Five let you go from his grip and stood up. He looked like the killer you had only heard about mere months ago, he didn’t look like your Five anymore. “Just go, y/n.”
So you did, no arguments, no questioning, you had gone. As soon as you left the room Five caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror but the reflection wasn’t him, it was the killer that he thought he’d left in the Commission, he was his clenched fists and cold eyes. He couldn’t believe he spoke to y/n like that, looking like this.
“Y/N!” He called out, he was in a cold panic. He kept calling your name out, traveling to your work, your house, all your favourite places but you weren’t there. Five had been told that you handed in your resignation at work and your flat was cleared, you had gone home.
Five didn’t know what to do with himself since you had left, he was constantly thinking about the what ifs, what if he acted differently, what if he didn’t snap. You had been gone from Fives timeline for almost a year, he didn’t have much to remember you by other than one picture that he had on his bed side table. The picture was taken by Allison of the two of you, you had both fallen asleep on the sofa downstairs, you looked so peaceful together as Five held you in his arms.
He fell in love with you in the time he had met you, the complexity of love confused him but he wanted to figure it out with you. He loved the way you talked, how you carried yourself, your smarts, your personality, everything. It was a cold night and Five wasn’t able to sleep, he just laid there staring at the ceiling. There was a strange noise, a noise he knew well, y/n.
“Hey Five.” You were breathless, it had taken you so long to find the right equation for the frequency of Fives timeline, to see him again.
Five couldn’t believe his eyes, you were really there. Without a second thought Five leapt out of his bed and crashed his lips to yours, he pulled away and tightly wrapped his arms around your frame.
“I’m so sorry y/n. I’ve missed you so much.” You couldn’t agree more, leaving was an impulse moment of anger, there was a gap in your heart that only Five could fill. “y/n, I love you so much.” He held your hands, his eyes were soft again, filled with love.
“I love you too.”

McGenji Week, Day 3: Desperate Times Call For Desperate Measures
@mcgenjievents
You can read it here on Ao3 if you prefer!
“Alright, I’m headin’ in,” Jesse checked in with the comms before slipping into the warehouse, the air cold and musty.
There was a layer of dust covering everything, old wooden crates rotting and metal ones rusted. A hole in the roof let in the moonlight, splashes of silver on the floor in blotches and lines. Jesse sighed as he checked the corners, gun held at the ready, but not expected to be used. It wasn’t.
“All clear. Nothin’ in here but a bunch of empty crates. Maybe the lead was a fake,” Jesse spoke into his comm softly, rubbing his forehead.
This was the third lead they had been hunting, and the third dead end they had caught. He was tired, had not slept in a real bed in weeks, and the smell was starting to give him a headache. A shadow passed over him, Jesse glancing up as Genji crouched on the edge of the hole in the roof.
“No one has been here in ages,” He murmured, Jesse nodding, letting his hand fall back to his side. Genji dropped and landed silently, eyes glowing red pinpoints that shifted as he looked around.
“Yup, kind of saw that one, bud.”
“Do not call me that.”
“Alrighty. Saw that one too, Shimada, saw that one too.”
“You’re pissy tonight...”
“Yeah, no shit, Sherlock. We’ve been led to another useless find because someone wants to fuck around with us, on the road for about two weeks now travelin’ rough, and I’m tired and dirty and yeah, pissy too. I mean, this is shit the grunts should be doin’, not us. Low-level missions that aren’t worth anyone’s time, hell, no one should even be on this—”
“McCree. Found something.”
Jesse turned from where he had been ranting at the wall, Genji having wandered while he was doing so. Good to know he hadn’t been listened to. The ninja was crouched, fingertips gliding over something covered in the dust. He slid his wakizashi free as Jesse came over with a sour look, digging the tip under the seam of what must have been a bunker door.
It took Genji a moment, but he eventually opened it, pulling the door up and raising a brow at Jesse.
“See, you got night vision. Otherwise I would’ve found that too,” The gunslinger groused. Genji merely scoffed at him, Jesse keeping his mouth shut for once about it. He was too tired for Genji’s sass, and frankly, he was the one finding secret bunkers, so he had a leg up on Jesse there.
“So. Night vision first into the pitch black bunker?” Jesse offered, sweeping his hand towards the gaping blackness of the door. Genji shook his head and stepped down the stairs, wakizashi still in hand.
Something about the situation made Jesse uneasy, a sick feeling seeping into his gut. It was familiar, but he couldn’t remember why. Slipping Peacekeeper back into his grip, Jesse followed after Genji. He pulled a flashlight from his tactical pouch, moving it around the walls as they reached the bottom.
His headache was starting to throb, making him wince a bit.
“Damn...Hey, help me see if there’s a light down here, will you?”
“It’s to your left.”
“Thanks, Night Vision.”
“Please do not start calling me that.”
Jesse smirked to himself as he looked for the light switch. It was an old-fashioned one, Jesse flipping it on. Nothing but the sound of electricity running for a moment, then, the stuttering of orange-tinted light.
“How old is this place? Still usin’ sodium lights...? Must be ancient,” Jesse muttered to himself, looking around as the light got stronger.
There was a single chair in the center of the room, chains dangling from it. Jesse’s brow furrowed. He had seen something like this before. Vague memories pieced themselves together in fragments, unfinished parts staying that way before there was a jarring shift to another one. His headache pounded behind his temples.
Someone walking around him slowly, the click of their shoes on the metal floor measured. Tap. Tap. Tap. They said nothing, just walked. Jesse breathing heavily through the gag, blood dripping from his nose and chin, splashing on his thighs. Not in synch with the taps. The light was too bright, too much, too loud.
An injection of a strange substance into his arm, Jesse unable to struggle against whatever was holding him to the chair. Chains. Biting into the skin of his wrist and neck and chest. It was pitch black, yet, Jesse could see movement, colours. Something watching him in the shadows. Waiting. Prowling.
“No! No, you can’t leave me in here with that!! No! No no help me!! Help me, please!”
Sweat beaded on his temple as he writhed and screamed, eyes wild as they looked upon nothing.
“Gabriel Reyes. What do you know about him?”
Jesse stayed silent, clenching his jaw harder and grunting as he was hit again. Everything hurt, muted and dull until the strike sent his head snapping to the side. Sharp and hot. Broken. Lots of broken things.
“You work with him, you are always at his side. Tell us what you know.”
Jesse stared blankly at the floor, ears still ringing with the methodical tap, tap, tap. Still feeling the eyes on him, but this time, he knew there were people watching him. Sagging against the chains, unable to see outside of the ring of light shining on his face. His mind was foggy, slow. A headache. Pulsing with his heartbeat. Raised.
“McCree.”
“McCree!”
“Jesse!”
Jesse blinked, head slamming against the wall as he jolted. He winced, hand going up to hold it.
“Motherfucker...!”
Genji was kneeling in front of him, Jesse sitting up slowly, eyes unfocused.
“What happened?” He murmured, Genji setting a hand on his shoulder cautiously. Filling all the space in front of Jesse, eyes worried as he made the gunslinger focus.
“You...Regressed. We are not down there anymore.”
“Where are we?”
“Still in the upper warehouse.”
“How long? Gen, how long has it been, what time is it?! When is it?!”
“Jesse, it is okay. It is still December 9th, 2061. You were out for twenty-three minutes,” Genji explained in a tone Jesse had never heard from him. Gentle. It only calmed him for a moment before panic constricted his throat again.
Jesse leaned over and threw up, hands shaking as he wiped his mouth after emptying his stomach.
“You’re safe, Jesse. It is just you and I here, you are safe,” Genji murmured, hand splayed over the gunslinger’s back. A solid, warm presence. Grounding.
His mind was still racing, though, Jesse felt as though he was floating outside of his body. Out of control. Flailing, yet unable to move.
“Fuck fuck fuck no, no no I didn’t tell ‘em! I didn’t tell ‘em nothin’ I swear! I-I didn’t say anythin’!”
“I know. It’s okay, Jesse. You are safe. We are on a recon mission at a warehouse in Detroit, Michigan. It’s one fifty-eight in the morning.”
Jesse took a few steadying breaths, though, they still stuttered with each inhale. The images were not going away. He was getting desperate.
“Genji, tell me somethin’ only you would know, please, this can’t be another one I can’t—!”
“You are the first and only person to call me Genji here. Everyone else uses Shimada. You’re the only one I let use my first name. And in return, you told me to use your first name too, since we...Are friends. You called me your friend,” Genji told him softly, both hands going up to grip Jesse’s shoulders.
The gunslinger stared at him for a long moment, swallowing thickly. He nodded, sweat rolling down his temple. It still felt too hot, too much, but it was fading. Slowly.
“You also wear boots with your running shorts to training, and it’s the stupidest thing I have ever seen, but I think it’s funny, too. I asked how your feet do not start to hurt, and you just grinned and said that they do, but you had to keep up appearances and that you wanted to prove something to Reyes. You did not hear it, but I laughed. It was the first time I’ve laughed since I was brought here,” Genji continued.
Jesse stared at him, oddly transfixed by the way the ninja was looking at him, still holding his shoulders.
“When we were training in the rain, you asked me, with all seriousness, if I would rust. You were actually concerned about me rusting. And when I explained to you that I would not because the metal is a carbon fiber, you actually listened. I was trying to make you leave me alone with something I thought you would find boring, but you were genuinely interested in what I had to say. You listened to me, and then, you stayed with me the whole time.”
“You asked me if I felt comfortable telling you about the rest of me, because you said it was ‘super cool’. But you gave me the option to say no, something I hadn’t been given before. I said yes, though, and told you more. And I didn’t get dysphoric talking about it for once. It felt...Relieving, in a way. To tell someone about it myself, and not hear about it from a doctor, or some political representative.”
Jesse felt his mind quiet, Genji taking a breath. It was the most he had ever said to him, the gunslinger clinging to every word.
“You always helped me when I regressed, or had an attack. I want to return the favour, whenever you need it,” The ninja finished, pulling Jesse forward lightly. Giving him room to disengage if he wanted to. He did not.
Jesse leaned into the embrace, eyes fluttering shut after a moment. There was only blackness behind his eyelids once again.
“Are you with me, Jesse?” Genji asked cautiously, Jesse nodding, chin tapping against his shoulder. It was warm. Genji was so, so warm.
“I’m here, yeah...”
“Okay.”
The ninja stood slowly from his previous crouch, holding a hand out for Jesse. He took it. Standing made him dizzy, body still quivering. Weak.
“Shit...I’m sorry, Gen, I didn’t—I didn’t think that would happen. It just came on all of a sudden,” Jesse mumbled, mouth tasting of stale bile, disgusting.
“You do not have to apologize. It is not your fault.”
“I couldn’t even remember what happened ‘till now.”
“It’s okay, Jesse. It is okay. I am sorry for not realizing sooner. I was there when we brought you back from...That. I should have been more careful.”
Jesse shook his head, taking a few shuffling steps forward.
“It’s okay. Let’s just...Get out of here, yeah?”
“Yeah,” Genji nodded, keeping a concerned eye on Jesse the whole time. They made it back out into the frigid night air, Jesse taking a deep breath, letting the bitter cold of it burn in his lungs.
“The lead was right. It must have been an old Talon hideout. Not much left, abandoned long ago, no other information available. Will do a full report back at base,” Genji spoke into the comm, tone short and clipped.
Jesse stared at the moon, full and bright. The ninja tapped his shoulder, Jesse blinking and turning his gaze to him.
“Come on. Let’s go back to the rendezvous point.”
“Okay.”
“You doing okay?” Genji questioned, hand squeezing Jesse’s shoulder lightly. The concern made Jesse smile a bit, grateful.
“Yeah. Yeah, I’ll be fine.”
As long as you are here.
Genji nodded, then started walking. Jesse stayed by his side. The night was cold and silent.

Re-Created: Chapter 3
After Joey passes away, Henry finds a way to make everyone look human again, one by one, using the Ink Machine. And this story is going to have a happy ending, even if he has to write it himself.
[Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 3 | Chapter 4 | Chapter 5 | Chapter 6]
"Are you sure the dog’s down here?”
“He usually shows up near the Music Department.”
“But it’s been days,” Tom reminds him. “He’s probably already left at this point.”
Henry tries to ignore his increasing sense of dread. “Look, we’re already down here. Might as well look for him.”
“Sammy’ll show up any minute.” Tom hits his axe handle against his open palm.
Henry doesn’t have a rebuttal for that. “We’ll make it quick.” He nods at Tom’s hand, eager to change the subject. “How’s your arm been?”
Tom flexes it, his fingers closing slowly. “Beats that mechanical piece of shit. I think something’s wrong with the nerves though. It’s numb half the time, and it doesn’t move as easily as it should.”
Henry frowns. “Sorry. I could try-”
Tom brushes him off. “Don’t worry about it. It works well enough.”
They walk in awkward silence for a while, Henry trailing behind Tom. The animator stops as they walk past the infirmary.
“We should look down here,” he points out. Tom returns to his side and peers into the darkness, gripping his axe tighter.
“Why would the dog be down there?”
“See all that ink on the ground?”
“I don’t know if you noticed, but there’s ink everywhere.”
“No, I mean - usually this area is flooded, and I have to drain it. But it’s already been drained, and I don’t think Sammy goes down here often. Which means someone else has already been here.”
Tom grunts his approval. “Best lead we have, I guess.”
They make their way down into the infirmary, walking past the broken-down beds. Henry continues forward into the ink-flooded sewers, looking back at Tom.
“You coming?”
"I can’t go in there, remember? That stuff is instant death to anyone except you.” He backs up a few feet.
“I think that’s only because you were a cartoon. It’s like...” He pauses, trying to think about the best way to word his thoughts. “You were Boris, but you weren’t, so you weren’t very stable to begin with. But you’re not anything else now. You’re you.”
“And if you’re wrong, I’m dead.”
“Just put your hand in for a moment. That way you can pull it out if anything starts to happen.”
“I just got this hand back. I don’t want to lose it again.” He rubs his new arm as he speaks.
“I know. But how are you going to know if you’re immune if you don’t try?”
Tom sighs, slowly approaching the ink. He kneels down. “I hate your damn logic,” he grumbles, sticking it into the liquid.
A minute passes.
Nothing happens.
He slowly removes his hand, flexing it as the extra ink drips away. Henry grins at him.
“Fine. Don’t rub it in. Allison nearly died in this godforsaken stuff once, so I’m not exactly found of it.” He slowly eases himself into the ink. “And I can’t swim.”
“We’re just wading, don’t worry.” He starts down the hall and Tom begrudgingly follows, the sound of the splashing ink the only noise present in the tunnels.
They turn the corner, coming across a slew of awkwardly-placed boards. Something makes a moaning noise before disappearing into the ink beyond them, leaving the sewers to once again go silent.
“What the Hell?” Tom leans through the boards, looking at the spot where the Searcher had vanished.
Henry walks up beside him. “Sorry; I forgot you didn’t know. That thing’s always down here. It’s harmless, don’t worry.”
“Of course it’s harmless. The swollen ones can barely move. But why the Hell’s it down here?” Tom hacks away at the boards with his axe, clearing the area. They continue forward.
“Is that weird?”
“Searchers travel in packs, for one. And they avoid areas with high amounts of ink. They absorb it and it makes them all bloated like that.”
Henry shrugs. “I don’t know. It doesn’t leave this place even if I approach it.” They pass by Jack’s desk and Henry pauses, staring at the tape.
“Hey, Tom? Are those Searcher things... people?”
Tom snorts. “You’ve been here God only knows how many times and you’re just now figuring that out? Of course they used to be humans. Everything in this studio was a person once.”
Henry continues to stare at the tape.
“No.”
“We can’t just leave him down here.”
“You don’t even know who he is.”
Henry nods towards the tape on the desk. “The man who recorded that... his name was Jack. He was talking about how he used to work down here, so that must be him. You said it yourself: Searchers wouldn’t be down here normally.”
Tom sighs, rubbing at his eyes. “Listen, even if we wanted to try to wrangle him onto a pentagram, we don’t have the Machine properly set up yet.”
“Allison knows how to do it, doesn’t she?”
“And how is she supposed to know what we’re planning?”
A noise echoes in the empty chamber, interrupting them.
“Hold on.” Tom puts his arm out in front of Henry, studying the area cautiously. “Don’t move.”
Tom creeps forward against the sewer wall, slowly peering around the corner, axe raised. He swears, exasperated, then drops all sense of stealth and disappears around the bend. He comes back a second later, Boris in tow.
“This yours?” he asks sarcastically. Boris, who had been cowering slightly, perks up at the sight of Henry.
“Boris!” Henry nearly runs over, then forces himself to slow down. He doesn’t remember you, he reminds himself. Still, the wolf looked happy to see him.
“There, we have the dog,” Thomas mutters, looking over his shoulder cautiously. “Let’s get out of here before that crazy cult asshole shows his face.”
“Why don’t you go ahead and help Allison with the setup? Boris and I can stay down here and help Jack.” Boris perks his ears up in curiosity.
“No offense, but the dog’s not exactly going to offer you much protection.”
“I can handle things myself. I’ve killed the Ink Demon a few hundred times by now. I think I can take on Sammy.”
Tom grunts. “Fine. Just be careful. Allison and I will stay by the Machine so the guy isn’t completely confused when he wakes up outside.”
“Thanks,” Henry offers, but Tom is already walking away. He turns to Boris.
“Okay buddy, we need to catch that ink... thing and get it into a circle on the ground. You want to help?”
Boris nods eagerly.
The wolf takes a running start towards the Searcher, only to crash head-first into the wall as it disappears back into the ink.
“You okay, buddy?” Henry asks as he slowly creeps up behind Jack, who had respawned near him. Boris nods, sticking out his tongue.
Henry leaps forward, and the Searcher moans unhappily, vanishing again and leaving Henry to fall face-first in the ink. He wipes the liquid away from his face and laughs, overtaken by how ridiculous this was. “Maybe we should try something else. Something less... painful.” Boris rubs the bump on his head, nodding.
“And what would that be?”
Henry freezes.
The ink near him bubbles and rises, forming into a vaguely human figure. “I don’t normally allow people to harass my sheep, you see.” An axe finishes forming in his hand and he runs his fingers against the handle. “But I must admit, I am... curious as to why you are so persistent about going against the will of our Lord.”
“So you... want to watch us change him back?” He slowly moves away from Sammy as he speaks, putting a hand on Boris’ back as the wolf cowers.
“There is no “back,” my sheep. Not without our savior. But if you insist on meddling... I will not stop you, for now.“ He lowers the axe, stepping backwards into the dark. Henry backs up, feeling throughly unnerved.
“All right, so...” Henry tries to ignore Sammy, focusing on Jack instead. “We can’t catch him, but we can get him to move other places... If we can’t move him into the pentagram... maybe we can get him to form on top of it.” He turns to Boris, pointing to the circle. “Think you can chase him in there?"
Boris’ ears perk up and he nods, looking at Jack, who’s repositioned himself a few feet away. Henry moves towards the Searcher and he respawns, now closer to the wolf. Boris creeps up behind him, Henry blocking off the area to the right, and Jack spawns to the left, closer to the symbol drawn on the ledge. They continue moving forward, the Searcher moving closer and closer to the pentagram. Sammy watches silently.
Henry takes one more step and Jack disappears, appearing again inside of the symbol. Henry holds out his arm to block Boris as the Searcher melts away with a final moan, leaving thick globs of ink behind.
“C’mon.” Henry takes off through the ink and Boris runs after him, grabbing a can of soup on the way out. Henry pauses, looking back at Sammy.
“Aren’t you coming?”
“It is... forbidden for us to leave the studio, my sheep. If this works - and I doubt it will - Jack will know where to find me.” Sammy melts back into the ink, vanishing into the abyss.
They keep running, through the Music Department and out the exit door. Boris freezes, looking around the room with his hand on his chin, clearly confused by the sudden realism.
“I’ll explain later, okay?” Henry offers. He continues forward and Boris follows him as they make their way into the garage, where the Ink Machine is quietly chugging away. Ink spills from the nozzle onto the ground.
Allison is kneeling on the floor, covered in ink. Tom is crouched down beside her, hand on her back.
There’s no one else in the room.
“Stein, what the hell was that?” Thomas demands, rising from the floor. Henry looks around in confusion.
“What do you mean? Where’s-?”
“He goddamn melted, that’s what!” Tom snaps. Allison looks up.
“He was almost formed, and then he just started to-” She takes a deep breath. “He tried to reach for me, and I panicked and tried to grab him, and...” Tom goes back to her side, giving Henry one last glare.
“I don’t...” Henry looks at Boris helplessly, who looks back at him, equally lost. “I think-”
“You think what?” Thomas demands. Henry struggles to think of an answer. He feels numb, his thoughts jumbled.
”I think I need some time alone.”
They didn’t form at all this time. May have to try again. Use thicker ink?
“Henry?”
Still better than the last attempt...
“Henry.” Allison puts her hand on his shoulder and he jumps, not realizing she was there.
“Sorry.” He pushes Joey’s notes away. “Been trying to read over what Joey wrote, to see if there’s anything helpful.”
“And?”
“I don’t think Joey knew what he was doing any more than I do.” He buries his head in his hands, pressing them against his sore eyes. “I don’t know. I’m tired.”
“There’s someone here to see you.” She puts her hand on his back. “I can have them come back later, if you’d prefer-”
“No, it’s fine. I need a break.” He stands up and followers her to the door, where Tom is standing with an axe. A Lost One stands in the doorway, slouched over timidly.
“Hello?” Henry prompts. They look up, taking a step back.
“I... hello.” The voice sounds feminine. They glance at Tom’s axe anxiously. “I... uh-”
“Did you come to be remade?” Allison prompts, and the Lost One nods in relief. Allison motions for them to enter, and Tom begrudgingly moves aside.
“Sammy didn’t follow you here, did he?” Tom asks, looking outside before firmly closing the door. Allison motions for the Lost One to take a seat and they do so, shaking their head. “I abandoned the others a few days ago. He doesn’t even know I’m here.”
“He’ll find you soon enough,” Thomas growls. “He keeps tabs on all you, doesn’t he?”
“I-”
“It’s okay,” Allison reassures them, putting a hand on their arm, which leaves a slight dent in their ink. “Let’s just worry about you right now. You wanted to talk to Henry, right?”
They nod, turning towards Henry. “I... I want to be human again. I know I wouldn’t be free from the ink, and I know Sammy says it’s a sin, but-”
They curl up on themselves, sounding like they were about to cry. “I want to know who I am. I want to remember things, and be able to rest without melting, and-” They look at Henry, voice cracking. “Please...”
Henry’s breath catches in his throat as he looks at their eyes, completely blank, yet still somehow sad. Allison’s words replay in his mind. He tried to reach for me...
“I can’t.”
He runs out of the room, leaving the crying Lost One in his wake.

ParkWin FanFic - PART 1
Alright friends, I am posting part one of my Eggsy Unwin x Peter Parker, lemme know what you think- Part 2 should be posted up sometimes this week.
Title: What are you thinking about
Characters: Eggsy Unwin - Kingsman & Peter Parker - Spiderman
Part 1 is safe for work- Part 2 perhaps not- TBD aha
Be kind - this is a first draft <3
-----
Eggsy, cool and collected as always, watches with a raised eyebrow as a young man comes hurling out of a hotel across the street, bag slung carelessly over one shoulder and texting while dodging around strolling pedestrians.  He can’t help but find him attractive, in a messy and boyish kind of way.  He watches the lithe brunette run down the road with efficient strides until he can’t see him from his seat in the cafe anymore.  Finishing his tea, he drops a couple euro coins next to the saucer for a tip and makes his way outside.  Tapping the side of his glasses he scrolls through his agenda for the rest of the day - they completed their mission yesterday and it looks like he has the next few days in Paris to just relax.  As he is walking he hears a soft thud as something hits the ground down the alley to his left. Looking suspiciously around him and seeing no one, he enters the alley.  A blue backpack sits on the ground about 10 meters in, with no owner in sight he cautiously approaches it.  Using his glasses to do a quick scan for any weapons or explosives he kneels down to unzip it.  “Nothing dangerous…”  Opening it he finds a wallet, an american passport, an extra pair of clothes, a half eaten bagel wrapped up in a brown paper bag and some headphones.  “Well that’s odd innit” he mumbles to himself, opening the wallet. Rifling through the contents doesn’t take long - he finds scarce few euros, what looks like a plain RFID key card, and a New York driver’s license for one Peter Parker. Eggsy takes one look at the photo and instantly recognizes it as the man he saw earlier rushing down the street.  “Small world eh’?” He says to himself, as he is replacing some of the items he removed from the bag a cocktail napkin with a hotel logo falls to the ground.  He picks up the napkin and it reads in barely legible writing “Telecom Paris Tech/Friday 11:30AM Roussew Ballroom sections A-C.  “Well…” he thinks to himself “...the only gentlemanly thing to do would be to return the bag to the owner.” He looks around one more time, dead end straight ahead and no reachable fire escape on the walls..after reassembling a loose buckle he slings the bag over one arm, pockets the napkin and exits the alley. “Best to start at the Telecom I suppose” He does a quick search of the location on his glasses and glances at his watch which reads 10:05am

Peter takes out his phone to respond to a text from Happy, grabbing the half eaten bagel he had picked up earlier in the morning as he rushes out of the hotel.  He is in Paris to give a speech on the research that Stark industries has just started working on, but he brought his suit just in case.  He thought he would be better at multitasking by now but he is still getting used to handling crime alerts while having a full time job.  “If I hurry I can help catch the art thief and take the rooftops to make it to my speech on time…” He turns a corner swiftly into an alley, checking behind him to make sure no one is watching him. He strips out of his street clothes, stuffs them in his backpack and starts up the wall. Upon reaching the roof of the building he feels the strap buckle of his backpack loosen completely causing it to fall to the ground “Crap…” Glancing at the time and back at the backpack he is about to shoot a web to grab it when a very handsome man turns into the alley.  Peter crouches down and peaks over the side of the building to try and get a better look “ohh...oh crap oh crap he’s looking in my bag he’s VERY attractive and he is looking in my bag” he thinks to himself, trying to remember what he threw in there before leaving the hotel room.  Using his suit to do a quick scan of the man, he doesn’t find anything suspicious about him ‘Eggsy Unwin, London, 21, Occupation: Tailor - Kingsman Tailor Shop’ Receiving a WHERE R U ping from Happy he decides he will have to deal with it later and swings off.
***
After making a quick stop back at his hotel room Eggsy takes a car to the Paris Tech building right around 11:20am.  He did not imagine that it would be this crowded and is concerned about being able to find Peter in the mass of people.  He scans the hotel reader boards for the ballroom, finding the Roussew room was easy enough and as he enters the room he leans against the back wall as he begins to skim over the people in the audience.  A microphone cracks loudly with feedback drawing his attention to the stage. “Well well well…” Eggsy crosses his arms and smiles to himself as his eyes lock onto the brunette he saw rushing out of the hotel earlier.  He thinks that the young man seems somewhat out of breath but perhaps he is just nervous. “Hi, uhm, hello hi, my name is Peter Parker.”  Peter addresses the crowd, awkwardly but then takes a deep breath and begins his speech. His knowledge, expertise and passion on the subject are extremely impressive and Eggsy finds himself quite taken with it even though he isn’t familiar with the content that Peter is talking about.  The speech concludes and Eggsy joins in the round of applause.  Waiting for the crowd to thin out Eggsy makes his way to the front of the room, seeing Peter drinking from a bottle of water to the side of the stage he approaches him confidently. “Hello” Eggsy says cheerfully, Peter turns towards the voice and nearly spits out his water, this is the man who he had seen in the alley.  Peter had not responded yet and was just staring back at Eggsy a bit dumbfounded, Eggsy waves a hand jokingly in front of Peter “Hello, are you alright there mate?” Peter stammers a response “Oh, yes hi hello absolutely, you just looked, uhm familiar for a second there.” Eggsy lifts an eyebrow “I enjoyed your speech, though I must confess, I hadn’t the slightest in what you were talking about. I actually came to return your bag”  He lifts the bag up off his shoulder and extends it over to Peter pulling the cocktail napkin out of his pocket as well and shaking it with a small laugh.  Peter gently takes the bag from Eggsy “Thank you so much, I must have lost it rushing here” “Not a problem mate, my pleasure- you can thank me by coming out to dinner” Peter, surprised at the Englishman's forward response looks around and points to himself “Me? You’d like to go to dinner with me?” Eggsy chuckles at first but then locks eyes with young man in front of him, causing Peter’s cheeks to flush with heat. He slides his hands into his pockets and says “Absolutely, and I know the very place- are you available this evening?” Peter blurts out a YES faster than was necessary and without actually considering if he did in fact have plans already that night. “Beautiful, I’ll pick you up at 8pm” Eggsy says with a wink and leaves Peter standing there, mouth slightly agape. “But how will he know where to pick me up from?” He thinks to himself and he slings his backpack over his shoulder, heading out of the ballroom “and what will I wear?”
