.. camera .. pairing. na jaemin x female reader genre. angst pov. second person (you, yours, yourself, etc.) (‘y/n’ usage) synopsis. when jaemin wants to record his pretty doll all for himself. wc. 0.9k cw. yandere!jaemin, neighbor!jaem tw. gaslighting, dumbification, kidnapping, noncon kissing, implied noncon, pet names (too many to list)
“You’re so cute when you’re struggling,” your once friendly and beloved neighbor smiled, camera lens held up to block your vision of his handsome face to display you on the screen in his eyesight. You rolled your eyes, letting out grunts and whines, gentle pleas to hopefully show him that you weren’t enjoying this as much as he was.
“Aw, what’s that, baby? I can’t hear you, you’re gonna have to use your words,” he faked a pout, squatting in front of you to zoom the camera in on your pained expression. You shook your head, forcing your face as far away from the camera as possible. How could he be recording you at this moment?
“No? Then, I guess you don’t get what you want, pretty girl,” he exhaled deeply, but you simply shook your head in turn, eyes pleading with him to cooperate with you, to see through this desperation. “You’re just so stubborn, aren’t you, princess?”
You shook your head again, jerking around in the chair you were sitting in. The camera panned down your body, his eyes finally meeting your own. They weren’t as gorgeously sweet as they used to be, they had a darkness in them, and it almost felt sinister. You trembled against the wood under his intense stare, his soft palm escaping its grip on the camera to place on your exposed thigh, leaving one hand to toggle the camera lens on the way your leg quivered with his skin connecting to yours.
“You seem so scared,” he frowned, eyes scanning your fearful expression, your eyes still pleading with him to give into your excessive noises of desperation. “Are you scared of me?”
You nodded quickly, subconsciously sobbing into the piece of fabric shoved inside your mouth to keep your cries and muffled screams as silent as possible. The walls around you added in the soundproofing of his display, the hard concrete of the basement blocking any sound from escaping into the ears of the law-abiding citizens peacefully walking around outside, minding their own business, unbeknownst to what’s going on between you and Jaemin not even a few feet from them.
“I don’t like that answer,” he snarled, his entire tone snapping to an even more intimidating one, “You know, I don’t want you to fear me, Y/n. Why can’t you just see all I’m trying to do is praise your beauty? I appreciate you for being so gorgeous, that’s all.”
You whimpered, eyes closing as tears fell down your already dampened cheeks, the duct tape loosening from the amount of warm water spilled around it. You wanted to scream and cry, yell “let me go” at the top of your lungs, but the rag he had shoved down your throat gagged you every time you wanted to speak, the tape aiding in restricting the movements of your lips.
“Don’t you believe me, darling?” he frowned, voice softening as if he hadn’t just struck more fear into you only a few seconds ago. Who was he anymore? Who had he become toward you? This definitely wasn’t the man you knew, the man who you’d met only a few times and who seemed so sweet during every single one of them. “I just want to make you my pretty doll. I can dress you up, take the prettiest pictures of you, make sure you always have a smile on your beautiful face. Why won’t you let me do any of that for you?”
You opened your eyes to look into his, but he was no longer in front of you. Instead, he was across the room, propping the camera up on a stand in the corner, turning on his heels, and walking over to you, hands trailing through your hair to pull your head back, eyes meeting his. He had every amount of control over you right now and there was nothing you could do to help yourself anymore. Your life, your fate, your world, it was all in his hands. You realized this as you fought with the rope tying your hands together behind your back, unable to free yourself of your restraints before he ripped the tape off your lips, removing the rag from your sore throat only to fill your mouth with his tongue instead.
You squirmed around in the old chair, creaking sounds filling the room, your weak breaths flowing into his senses, your scent was enveloping him. You couldn’t pull yourself away from his unforgiving lips, his tight grip on your scalp keeping you from moving your head and hands being held together behind you not aiding in you shoving him off yourself very well.
You never loved him, never really got to know him well enough to be able to fall in love with him. But Jaemin knew you all too well, which made him fall way too hard. He fell in love with your beauty above all else. Call him shallow, but he couldn’t help himself. Your personality was as gorgeous as the next, but what made you all the more beautiful to him was your cute face and petite figure. You were his muse since the day he met you, always capturing his eyes, or his camera lens, whenever you would walk by. You were too pretty to live in such an ugly world. He needed to protect your beauty with everything he has, keep it hidden from the grossness around the both of you so it wouldn’t be able to infect you.
But now that you were in his basement, tied to a chair before him, he seemed to notice that you were already infected. Rejecting him? How ugly of you. But don’t worry, he’ll teach you how to love him, beautiful. Even if it’s by force, you will love him in the end.

🫧 • A/N: I love Neuvillette and all, but I can't take his classy, catalyst user self seriously when he releases war cries like he's a claymore user or something. Like sir, order in the court please.

🐚.𖥔 ݁ ˖ Featured Character: Neuvillette
🌊.𖥔 ݁ ˖ Pairing: Neuvillette/fem!reader
🦪.𖥔 ݁ ˖ Tags: might be ooc??, not proofread, reader is bold, lil bit of angst sprinkled in, hurt/no comfort
ʚ⁺˖--➤ Synopsis: You decide to give Neuvillette a lovely new nickname. For convenience of course!
ʚ⁺˖--➤ word count: 1.1k words
Tumblr media
"It's too long you know," she spoke nonchalantly, informally, glancing at the more reserved chief justice. Now there was someone who completely opposed the woman's personality. It was a fact as clear as Fontaine's waters, a fact that Neuvillette was irked by much more than the woman standing almost impishly in front of him with a smug little smirk on her face. He dared not let his facial react again to her frequent jestful words again. Resisting the urge to sigh, he'd faintly indulge her with eye contact. "Pardon? What is the matter that you are referring to?" He inquires, seemingly unfazed.
A soft hum escaped her lips, eyes lingering on the appearance of the esteemed Chief Justice of Fontaine. "It's your name, Chief," the woman would take a pause at the sound of Neuvillette clicking his tongue, her eyes twinkling with amusement at the small, but enjoyable reaction. "Oh? Do you not like that nickname?" she continued in her practically one-sided banter. "If you must know for the one-hundredth thirty-seventh time, no, I am not fond of that nickname you have consistently designated as my title whenever we converse."
Neuvillette's eyes would narrow at the sound of her light-hearted chuckle, an unsettlingly sweet sound compared to the hassle of a woman it belonged to. "I think a small no would have sufficed."
Even now she stood proud in front of his desk, it was a bit irritable how comfortable she made herself. Her body was leaned up against his furnishing while her index finger gently poked at the papers she was assigned to deliver to him. It should've been a simple exchange, but the poor Chief Justice got lured into one of her most deadly traps...
"I digress, I found that conclusion to be false after fifty." he huffed with what many would take as an annoyance, but he had grown accustomed to her informal mannerisms long before this interaction. Truthfully, it was probably against his better judgment. Unfortunately for him, he had little means of escaping her. Neuvillette had assumed she was some charlatan he could easily disregard, but that wasn't the case, oh no, this woman just had to be high enough in society to weasel her way into a friendship with Furina. What astounds him even more is how well-versed she is with the laws of the land. An intelligent, strategic, conniving smooth talker who's like a barnacle in his back.
Small talk...
It has only been the one-hundredth thirty-seventh time. How does he fall for this so often? "Well then Chief, since it's sooo unsatisfactory, I'll be a good, law-abiding citizen and give you a new one." Before Neuvillette can even configure a rebuttal, he gets caught by curiosity. Patient, silent ice lavender eyes observing her expression, a finger rested on your bottom lip as rhythmic hums of an unrecognizable song fluttered from her lips.
"Ah! I got it!" she exclaimed with a bubbly grin manifesting in her features. Neuvillette almost felt tempted to ask her to reveal his new nickname. The thought would quickly be perished, he knew it would only lead to more teasing that he would be powerless to stop. Her antics have grown irrefutably more tolerable by the day.
The feeling of soft, gentle hands caressing his own nearly jolts the man from his thoughts. His attention was solely focused on her eyes, he almost resembled an expectant child receiving a gift. "Vivi," her voice sounded so warm and so sweet, almost as warm and sweet as the way she looked at him. The sudden change in demeanor was something that made him taken aback.
"Vivi?" he parroted quizzically with near-delighted intrigue. He could have sworn he saw her smile grow at his reaction although it might not have been much if it was anybody else. It seems they both knew that Neuvillette didn't seem to hate this nickname. "That's right, Vivi," and by now their hands began to intertwine, although it was most obviously her who initiated. Perhaps he had gotten caught up in the moment, for Neuvillette held little to no urge to let her hands go. "And why Vivi?" he asks her in a hushed, meek tone eyes glancing down to their entangled hands.
The delicate chuckle that graces his ears seemed much more suited to her at that moment. "Did you know that the meaning of it is correlated to being lively?"
"Are you insinuating that I am lively?" he sounds almost amused when he asks. "You? Why, certainly not. I simply find your company to be lively to my own spirit. You making me lively does not necessarily mean you have to be." she continued on giddily, her thumb lightly rubbing his hand. "What are you implying?" he inquires yet another question causing the woman to grow a fake irked expression. "Oh! you and your questions! We aren't in court you know! Surely, you can come to a verdict as to how I feel about you, yes?"
Neuvillette is quick to process all that his ears audibly witnessed. His gaze is immediately glued onto her once again almost to confirm it all. He'd known her for too long to know for a fact she wasn't lying. Although he still had yet to conclude what he was to say in response. It makes his chest tighten, knowing that she loves him, contemplating the thought that he just might love her back. Neuvillette's lips would part in the hope of saying something back, but he can't. His mouth would soon shut once again as he gazed at her kind yet sickeningly somber expression. The Chief Justice could only watch in silence as she brought his hands up to her precious lips before she planted a single, chaste, feather-like kiss atop his knuckles.
Carefully, he brought her hands up to his forehead, face now more apparent with anguish. "I... want to love you, but you of all people know how important my role is." Her hands were comforting when there was only so much they could do. There was only so much that he could do.
It's a surreal mix of emotions after that; a pristine smile is all he sees before she speaks again, "You don't have to say anything, you don't have to do anything to accommodate how I feel because I love you." How those words stung him, they don't sting half as much as the fact he can't bring himself to say them back. Almost as if he'd be committing a crime to her. What good are those bittersweet words besides feeding into a false hope? The hope that they could love each other unapologetically. How could he of all the divine dare dream of the luxury?

If I ever were to write a Malec AU inspired by the Leverage series
If you are not familiar with the Leverage series, here a very short synopsis: former high profile criminals form a team of vigilantes and use their unique skills to help the people that have been screwed over by the system.
Alec, in my head, is a cross between his canon personality, and his TWI personality. Meaning he may come across as ooc in specific instances. He would also be crushing on Magnus from the get go (as in, he has been crushing on him for a while before they see him in the room with Valentine) Okay, so basically the scene I have in mind is the crew watching the life stream of Valentine’s consultation with his court appointed lawyer. The scene starts with whoever is watching the stream, let’s say Izzy, seeing Magnus enter the room and calling over the others.
Izzy: “Oh no. Guys! We have a problem!”
Jace: “What’s wrong?”
Alec: “... That’s Magnus!”
possible other crew member: “Who’s Magnus and why is he a problem?”
Izzy: “Magnus Bane is one of the best lawyers in this country.”
Jace: “And also the guy that Alec here has been crushing on for like a decade.”
Alec: “It hasn’t been a decade, shut up!”
Izzy: “And as today is the day that Valentine was scheduled to meet with his attorney, it seems that Magnus Bane is the legal representative in question.”
possible other crew member: “So this Bane guy is in league with the scumbag?”
Alec: “No. Magnus would never do this to me and the kids.”
Jace: “He doesn’t even know you exist. And what kids?”
Alec: “The ones we will be adopting once I get up the nerve to ask him out!”
Izzy: “I’m sorry big brother, but if it turns out that Magnus is in Morgenstern’s pocket, I cannot give you my blessing to pursue a relationship with him.”
Alec: “Hey, we don’t have all the information yet. Let’s just see what happens.”
focus on the video
Magnus: “Mr. Morgenstern. My name is Magnus Bane, and Judge Dieudonnè has appointed me personally with your case. But I’m pretty sure that you know that already.”
- Alec: “See? I knew Magnus couldn’t be in league with someone like Valentine. Stupid judge.” -
Valentine: “And why would you think that?”
Magnus: “Mostly because I no longer practice criminal law, so I shouldn’t have been in the rotation for court appointed legal defense to begin with.”
Valentine: “Hm. How curious. Well, I’m sure the judge just wanted to make certain that the best defense is available to a law abiding citizen. And if the rumors are to be believed, you are the best.”
- possible other crew member: “So wait. If this Bane guy wasn’t supposed to be a possible pick for Morgenstern’s defense, does that mean that the judge is in cahoots with Morgenstern?”
Jace: “Who even says cahoots anymore? That is a good question, though.” -
Magnus: “It seems we have a different understanding of the term ‘law abiding’. The list of charges against you and your organization is as long as it is disturbing. And frankly, I believe that you are guilty of each and every atrocity you are charged with.”
Valentine: “I thought you lawyer types believed in ‘innocent until proven guilty’. Almost all the evidence against me is circumstantial.”
- Izzy: “Yes, which is why we cannot afford for Valentine to have as good a lawyer as Magnus fucking Bane!”
Alec: “Maybe we can discredit the judge? Get Magnus released from his appointment?” -
Magnus: “Call it a gut feeling. Anyway, while I couldn’t outright deny Judge Dieudonnè’s request, I am allowed to decline the assignment after an official meet with the client. I have now officially met you, and I’m afraid to say that I don’t feel comfortable with defending you. Have a good day, Mr. Morgenstern.”
- Jace: “Alright, bullet dodged. Congrats Alec. Looks like your man is one of the good ones.”
Alec: “Do you think I should ask him out in that little cafe he likes to go to on wednesdays? I could buy him his favorite drink to start us off with, but I don’t want to come across as stalkery.”
possible other crew member: “Yeah, you knowing that he has a favorite cafe he visits every wednesday isn’t stalkery at all.” -
Valentine: “Should you really treat me like that, if you truly believe that all those heinous allegations against me are true? Shouldn’t you be worried about possible repercussions, in that case?”
- Alec: “Did he just threaten my future husband? Okay, that’s it! I’m getting into this prison and then I will break every bone in his body!” -
Magnus: “Let me make one thing perfectly clear, Mr. Morgenstern. I grew up as the only son of one of the richest, most influential, and morally bankrupt men in this state. I have been threatened with ‘possible repercussions’ my entire life, and I have endured and survived quite a few of them as well. You are a pathetic, hideous excuse for a human being, and for all the lives you have ruined, I sincerely hope that you will rot and slowly die in the most awful prison they can find for scum like you. As long as that is a viable outcome of your incarceration, I don’t care what you do to me.”
- possible other crew member: “Damn. Okay, that was hot. Not gonna lie.”
Alec: “It will be a spring wedding. He loves halloween. If I propose to him then, we will have enough time to plan everything so that the spring flowers will be in full bloom by the time of the actual event.” -
Valentine: “You know what? I actually believe you.”
Magnus: “Goodbye then.”
Valentine: “Can you say the same about Ragnor Fell? Or Raphael Santiago? How about Catarina Loss? Or her cute little daughter. What was her name again? Right. Madzie.”
- Jace: “Did he just…?”
Izzy: “Threaten Magnus’ loved ones? Yeah, he did.”
Alec: “I’m going to fucking kill him!” -
Magnus: “How did you-”
Valentine: “I bet you are already running through your options on how to keep your little found family safe. Bring additional blackmail charges against me? - Now that would only make me more angry, wouldn’t it? Get your friend into police protection? - If only you could be sure that I don’t have people under my thumb in the police. Fly them out of the country? - But do you really know how far my organization and allies reach? And would the threat against them be over with as soon as I face my sentence? What’s it gonna be, Magnus. Your friends, or my freedom?”
- Izzy: “Fuck.”
Jace: “Okay, we need to get on top of this like yesterday.”
Alec: “Contact the other teams. We need round the clock protection for Magnus and his family. We have to find and take down Valentine’s allies and underlings, in and out of law enforcement. And we need to do it before Valentine’s trial starts and Magnus is forced to represent him.”
possible other crew member: “Guess that first date you have been planning is gonna be sooner than you thought.” -

What Hides In The Dark
Tumblr media
Anonymous requested: Hello. May I request a imagine about Tim Drake being a werewolf and only his S/O can calm the wolf down if he lose control (this purely inspired by a fic lol).
Word Count: 1423
Pairing: Werewolf!Tim x Reader
Rating: Mature
Synopsis: Your boyfriend, Tim Drake, is a werewolf, and when he escapes, it’s up to you to make sure he’s safe
The full moon was high in the Gotham sky, it’s pale silver glow illuminating the city bellow. The streets were silent at this time of the night, save for the occasional rumbling of a passing car. Most law abiding citizens would never, under any circumstance, leave their houses after the sun disappeared below the horizon. The nights belonged to the criminals and the vigilantes.
And to you. You didn’t belong to any of the two categories, but you still had your place in the darkened streets. Always lurking somewhere in the middle of the good and the bad, you wandered by this cursed city way past midnight, looking for the beings of shadow and fear. If the vigilantes kept the city safe from thieves and murderers, you kept it safe from demons and monsters.
Despite sharing the cover that the darkness offered, the worlds of nature and magic barely ever crossed paths. It wasn’t your duty to fight serial killers, and it wasn’t Batman’s duty to send ghosts back to where they had come from. You didn’t even know if he acknowledge the parallel battle happening in the city.
Your mission had been passed to generation after generation of your family. Your bloodline possessed the rare ability to see behind the mask of reality, and considered their sacred duty to keep the supernatural at bay. You lived to protect the others from what they couldn’t see.
But sometimes, fate had a funny way of uniting people. Murderer by day, werewolf by night, Kyle Abbot had proven himself a menace in all forms. It was investigating Abbot that you first ran into Robin. The chemistry was explosive. You didn’t believe in love at first sight before, but it was the only way to explain what had happened in the moment your gaze crossed his.
The two of you had a lot in common: both were warriors fighting the battle against the darkness, living a secret life surrounded by mysteries and lies. Neither of you had many friends, and in each other, you and him found companionship. You should have known better. You should have seen it coming. For you knew that no good things happened when magic and nature mingled.
During the fight, the werewolf’s claws pierced Robin’s suit, scratching the skin. After the police had Abbot under custody, you immediately treated Robin’s wounds. But it was too late, the damage had been done: in the next full moon, he would be transformed into a wolf and there was nothing you could do to stop that. In a strange way, his new condition brought the two of you closer. You began to meet him daily, going out every day after class. He trusted you with his real identity, and you trusted him with yours.
In the days leading to his first shifting, you arranged a safe space, a place he could stay when his bones cracked to accommodate his new form, and his hair grew to cover his whole body. You kept Tim company during the full moons. You protected him and prevented him from doing harm to others. Even in his irrational wolf form, he began to bond with you: his animal self becoming loyal to you.
But even the best engineered cages sometimes fail, and that's how you found yourself running around Gotham, following the trail of bloody footprints staining the gray concrete. You found him cornered against the wall of a dead end, a huge wolf with reddish-brown fur, jaw open, revealing the sharp fangs, and claws ready to attack. Blocking the entrance of the alley, there was a man wearing a black suit with a blue, bird-shaped design in his chest. He wielded escrima sticks, ready to defend himself from the creature.
“Dick!”, you shouted, not needing to see the man’s face to recognize him as Tim’s adoptive brother. “Don’t hurt him!”
Nightwing turned, and the moment his eyes left the wolf, the animal jumped on top of him, it’s weight bringing him down.
“Tim! No!”, you commanded, voice slightly unsure. What if he doesn’t listen to me?
But he did. The creature’s head snapped in your direction, eyes glowing yellow like embers. A thick thread of saliva hang from its open mouth, dripping into Nightwing’s cheek.
“Tim”, you tried again, testing if he was indeed reacting to your words. The wolf blinked expectantly. “Please, I need you to back away.”
There was a beat of silence, but then he slowly let go of his older brother. You smiled and nodded at Tim, and gave a tentative step towards him. His fur bristled up and quicker than your eyes could register, he ran past you, disappearing between the buildings and cars.
Dick pushed himself back onto his feet. “What did you do to my brother?”, he inquired, anger making his skin burn red. He towered over you, and your heartbeat quickened.
“What?”, you exclaimed. How dare he blame me for this? “How is this my fault?”
He poked your chest with a gloved finger. “He starts dating a witch and suddenly he became a werewolf? I’m pretty sure it’s your fault.”
“I’m not a witch”, you said through gritted teeth. “I can use magic, but I’m not a witch.”
“It doesn’t matter. Just undo whatever you have done.”
“I did nothing!” And then realization hit you. “You didn’t know, did you?”
“What are you talking about?”
“Tim never told you or Bruce that he is a werewolf.”
A unreadable expression took over Dick’s face. “How long? How long has he been like this?”
Your lips curved in a pitiful smile. “Six months. It’s kind of what brought us together.”
He closed his eyes, rubbing a finger in his forehead. You had noticed Bruce did the same thing when thinking. Finally, he sighed. “I’m sorry I accused you. But we need to find him, before someone hurts him.”
“Or he hurts someone”, you completed.
* * *
It took half an hour for you to find Tim again. For a large animal, he was surprisingly good at hiding. Fallen leaves in shades of brown, red, yellow and orange covered the ground of Robinson Park. Chewing noises came from a bush, and you ran the remaining distance. Crouching on the grass, the wolf devoured a blood covered bunny.
You approached him carefully. “Timmy”, you called and once more, he stopped what he was doing to look at you. You took a deep breath and kneeled on the ground, so your face would be level with his. Your actions were measured, you were afraid of scaring him away once more.
His animalistic gaze held yours and you dared to reach a hand out. It hang awkwardly in air for a second, before Tim moved forward, burying his snout on your palm and licking it greedily. You raised your other hand to caress his ears and he barked, seemingly at ease.
“Good boy”, you whispered.
Nightwing handed you the collar and leash he had picked over during your search. And while you hated having to use those on Tim, you had to agree it was the best way to bring him back to your hideout.
Making Tim walk back into the cage was complicated, as he would often try to race after passing cars or pick fights with street dogs, but after a long journey, you and Dick managed to successfully secure Tim inside it. You checked the padlock twice, and cast a spell just to be sure, before turning your back to the cage.
“I should go”, Dick said, running the back of his hand along his forehead to clean the droplets of sweat that had formed during the mission. “I’ll talk with him tomorrow.”
“Try not to judge too much. I know it’s complicated and unusual, but he’s still the same person he was before”, you told him before waving your goodbyes.
Once Dick was gone, you sat on the wooden rocking chair you usually used and stayed awake until the sun rose. You always hated seeing the transition: the cries of pain that escaped Tim’s throat made your heart break. He blinked once, then twice, his brain adjusting to the return of his human senses.
“Hey, you”, you said, rising to open the door.
“Hey”, Tim answered, his voice sore and sleepy. He stumbled onto his feet and hugged you, head resting on your shoulder. “Thank you.”
“What for?”, you inquired.
“For being here. For helping me.”
You smiled and kissed him. “It’s you and me, Tim Wolf. You and me against the world.”

It'd be pretty hard to recognize you dressed like this, though. Beanie, black hoodie, no identifiable features visible. You relax a little, and walk normally by toward your motorbike. Looking like a law abiding citizen is less suspicious anyway.
Hearing the sound of shuffling footsteps quickly approaching from behind, you turn. It's a man in a baseball cap, a jacket and jeans, hurrying down the sidewalk with his hands taped together. He gives you an awkward smile as he tries to waddle by.
"Hey! You okay?" you ask.
"I'm sorry, I can't talk right now or I'm going to be murdered," he says. You look behind him in confusion, and see a cop, most likely the owner of the squad car you just walked by, aiming a gun this way.
"Oh," you nod, "I see your point." You grab and tackle him as a gunshot goes off, and you hear the cop swear about something. You figure you have enough to get this guy out of here, so you take him to your motorcycle, urging him on the back as you get your swiss army knife out to cut him free.
"Um, miss? I'm not wearing any protection on my head, and I feel uncomfortable--"
"Just get on the damn bike, hurry!"
He does so, holding on as best he can, and you take off.
"Damn Hell's Angels!" the cop shouts after you, waving his gun. "That's some Sons of Anarchy shit right there!"
As the residential neighborhood starts to fade away behind you two, you kill the speed a little, and sigh in relief for having survived that. You realize his hands have settled around your waist, and he's holding onto you for dear life.
"Hey. Um..." he says loudly, over the roar of the engine. "Thank you. For... saving me? And not letting me... be killed... yeah."
You stop the bike in a relatively deserted part of the city, and help him off.
"Not a problem. I'm always up to look out for a fellow outlaw." You grin. He blinks at you.
"Oh, I'm not a criminal. I was kidnapped, and... I don't really know what happened, but it involved loud music and a scary dude in underwear. That cop guy." He swallows. "You're much prettier to look at than he was... though..."
You raise your eyebrows, and smile a little. This guy is cute.
"What's your name?"
He sticks his hands into the pockets of his jeans. "My name is David Dolores Frank."
"I'm (y/n). Come with me if you want to live." He stares at you in mortal fear, and you wave your hand. "It's a joke. Terminator? Come on." You lead him down an alley. "We'd better lay low for a bit, just in case the creep decides to follow us."
He takes your hand as you walk, and your smile grows. "Question," he says.
"Yeah?"
"Why are you, um, dressed like a hoodlum?" He points to your hoodie, grimacing. "Because you look like a hoodlum."
You slide down the wall, sitting down. "Unlike you apparently, I'm a wanted criminal." He freezes again, his fight or flight obviously engaged, and you roll your eyes. "I saved your life, I'm not about to hurt you." He nods, and cautiously sits down beside you.
"What did you do?"
"Stole the Mona Lisa."
He puts his head in his hands. "Oh my god. Oh my god, that's like... the biggest crime ever. Why did you steal that?"
"I have my reasons," you shrug. He stares at you for a while, before finally deciding you're okay. You catch him staring, and tilt your head back at him. "You're looking at me like I'm about to grow three heads."
"Well, you did just tell me you stole the Mona Lisa... we’re like Bonnie and Clyde, running away from the cops together." You snort.
“Except for the fact that you’re not actually wanted.”
“He wants me.” David scrunches his face up. “That sounds wrong.”
“Just... relax. Try not to freak out, okay?” He sighs.
"I'm sorry. You're just really beautiful, I can't stop looking... um... I'm bad at this."
A blush spreads over your cheeks. You haven't blushed in years. "You're sweet, David Dolores Frank." He rests his head gently on your shoulder, and looks around.
"This alley place is creepy. It's kind of exciting."
"Yeah. This is where I hide when shit goes down. Cops never really think to find me in an alley."
"I don't know. This guy-- my aggressor-- was weird. He was so weird. A dirty cop or something. He was very dirty, called me a street hooker."
"Are you a street hooker?" you ask.
"No!" he protests, "I'm not a street hooker. I'm just..." You smile, nudging him.
"It's cool. I get it."
"The dirty cop man had, like... drugs and stuff, or what I think are drugs because I don't know what drugs look like... in his house. And he lived there with his mom... it was weird." You laugh, shaking your head.
"This story just keeps devolving into more and more of a nightmare."
"I'd still be living it if you hadn't have come along," he says, "He would have shot my legs off or something." You hum.
"Forget it, David Delores Frank. I'm just glad I met you. You're nice, and the only person I've met who hasn't threatened to turn me into the police."
"I wouldn't do that," he mumbles. "Even though I don't know you. I just... like you?" He looks up at you, and then the sky. "Sky's getting dark."
"Yeah. You okay with that?"
"Yeah..." You give one last look down both ends of the alley. He speaks up again. "...I would prefer someplace more well lit, though. With brighter lights."
"My apartment's a couple blocks from here. Wanna crash there?" He nods, and the two of you head over there. Once upstairs, he looks around.
"Pretty cool place. You got somewhere for me to play my tunes?"
You shed your jacket on the couch, and smile. "Only if I get to dance with you." David ducks his head, and takes out his iPod.
"You're really going to love this, (y/n)." He scrolls through and grins as he presses play. "It doesn't sound at all like a man who's got his balls caught in a washing machine, trust me."

What They Want to Believe Ch1--Tangled Varian and Quirin Fic (Full Chapter!)
Title: What They Want to Believe
Synopsis: Quirin has to find out what Varian did eventually.
(For all those who like Varian’s canon redemption, but who are looking for some more could-be-canon angst.)
Notes:
I know this idea has probably been done by someone, or perhaps many others...but I have yet to read them, and I've really wanted to write a Varian fic for a while, and this was something I thought would be really fun to expand upon (and I've really enjoyed writing it so far)!!
This chapter is supposed to take place immediately after S3 E1-2: Rapunzel's Return.
Chapter 1:
Varian breathes deep. The city air smells sweet. Sweeter now than it ever had. He forgot how much he missed the smell of flowers, and cupcakes, and new shoes.
“It’s lovely out here, isn’t it?” Rapunzel voices his thoughts, smiling at him.
“Beats being in a cell, I’ll give you that.” Varian tries to joke, to fight the lump rising in his throat. “Anything beats Andrew’s all-natural scent, that’s for sure.”
She tries to smile too.
He looks away. He isn’t quite sure how to act around her now. She had forgiven him; they’d saved the kingdom together, even. She hadn’t sent him back to his cell afterwards…not that they’d talked about it.
Should he pretend like it never happened? That he’s always been just another law-abiding citizen, just the alchemist in Old Corona, that kid who caused a lot of little—well, sometimes big—unintentional mishaps… not the villain who tried to overthrow the kingdom…even if it’s not true?
Or should they confront it, admit that he spent the last year in a cell, because he’d done terrible things—that he’d try to kill her, her friends and family?
But if they confronted it, admitted it…what would happen? Would that remind her of all the reasons not to trust him, all the reasons she should throw him back into that cell after all?
Something moves in the corner of his eye, and he turns to see Old Lady Crowley fluffing out a sheet, giving him the evil eye all the while.
She does that to everyone, he tells the thing that pangs inside him.
As they continue their stroll through the city streets, Varian notices she isn’t the only one with less-than-cordial looks for him.
Feldspar slams his door when they walk by.
…Maybe he had a shoe-related emergency?
There’s a woman who ducks into an alley with her baby, a kid who gasps and gets out of the way.
He turns again, and Monty is at their side. He is the first to actually speak;
“You know, you’ve got some nerve to show your face around here.”
Rapunzel taps her foot impatiently. “Well excuuuse me for wanting to—!”
“No—though I’ll admit it’s a shocker—not you;” he brandishes his frosting-clad spatula from her to Varian, “him.”—the alleged ‘him’s eyes widen—“Since when are you two all cookies-and-cream again? Didn’t he try to kill you?”
“‘Kill’ is a strong word,” Rapunzel tries to laugh, looking away, her smile twisting a little.
“What word would use for it?” he folds his arms over his chest.
“Umm…” Rapunzel flicks the frosting her off her dress. “Not ‘kill’ that’s for sure...More like uhh…” She turns to the alchemist, and he doesn’t dare return her gaze, for fear of what he’ll find there.
“I was just trying to save my dad—”
“So you didn’t send a monster into the city?” A woman calls.
“Uh, well,” he rubs the back of his neck, “that was more of a diversion really—”
“A diversion so you could kidnap the Queen!” this is the first raised voice, raised fist, coming from behind him.
He turns to see they’ve accumulated something of a crowd.
“Yeah!” another voice speaks from behind them, “How can you let someone like him still walk free?! People have been killed for less!”
“Hey, listen!” Rapunzel steps in front of him, “He may have made some misguided decisions, but he’s not some monster! We all make mistakes sometimes!”
“He may not be a monster, but what do you call the thing he sent into the city?!”
“And how do you explain the automatons?!”
“Or how he stole the sun flower!”
“From the royal vault no less!”
“Or how he hurt the captain?!”
“It could have been much worse!”
“What if he had killed someone?!”
“He needs to be punished!”
“Locked up!”
“He’s a traitor!”
“Yeah, a traitor!”
“Traitor!”
“Traitor!”
“Traitor!”
“Traitor!”
The accusations blend together into some sick smoothie of sound, a dull ringing fault-line.
The clouds are rolling in too grey, too fast. His whole world is turning monochrome.
“I can’t believe you let him go, after everything he did to you.” Eugene crosses his arms, glaring at him like he’s the wrong size nose on a wanted poster.
“Eugene!” Varian tries to move towards him, to plead with him, but he bumps into Lance, whose arms are folded, face set.
“Where do you think you’re going, little man?”
“I just—”
I need to think. I need to figure this out. To do something. I need to get out of here. I need to find my dad.
“Tch, you know, if it were me,” Cassandra leans against a building, her face half hidden in shadow—Where is she now? Why didn’t she come back with them?— “I’d leave him to rot with the rest of the criminals.”
“No, Cassie…”
—Something is wrong, something is wrong, they just don’t want to tell me—
But, worse than all this, another voice breaks through the throng.
“Varian…is all this true?”
And this voice doesn’t shout. Doesn’t accuse. Doesn’t scorn. It isn’t even angry, just…disappointed. So very disappointed.
“Dad…” the word falls pitifully to the stones, like a child who dropped his ice cream, and I will make you proud rings through his head like a death knell.
At first Varian doesn’t turn to face him, just stands there, staring at the ground, trying to formulate words that will explain what happened, without neutralizing his ‘I’m so proud of you’ that he had given earlier. But words aren’t like numbers, they don’t follow rules, they twist and writhe, and never do what they’re told. So he just stands there, words failing him, mouth hanging open like a creaky door.
Then he does lift his head, and Quirin isn’t incased in amber. He’s alive, out, and safe, but Varian almost selfishly wishes he was still in the amber, because then he wouldn’t have to bear this look in his father’s eyes, the look that makes him want to shrivel up like a worm in the sun.
Rapunzel. He has to get back to Rapunzel. Rapunzel won’t judge him. Won’t say he needs to be punished. She forgave him. She’ll explain everything to them. Rapunzel, Rapunzel give me your strength. Rapunzel, Rapunzel let down your defense.
Having lost her in the crowd, he casts his gaze, like a fishing line, from one side to the other. He gets a bite; his eyes land upon her, between Xavier and a Pete, her back turned.
He runs to her.
“Rapunzel!” he calls, reaching out.
But the moment he touches her, a stain starts to spread along her hair, like it’s a squid he scared. But the ink spill doesn’t stop; like the best of plagues, it keeps spreading, until she’s nothing but a blotch on the world.
As the golden strands dim to black they break their bonds, becoming a living thing with tentacles and a bone to pick with the pirates who dared cross its waters.
She turns to him, and the ink has stained her gaze too; her eyes are nothing but caverns in the surface of her face now; a layer of the sea no one dares enter, for there are things with teeth down there.
“R-Rapunzel?” his voice isn’t so sure-footed, isn’t so certain it’s the right name.
She takes a step forward, her bare foot against the stones, and he takes a step back in this dance, because she doesn’t look like she’s going to defend him, in fact, if he didn’t know better, he’d think she was going to attack him too—
“Wither and decay” her voice is not the bright, not gentle, not kind. “End this destiny”
“Rapunzel—It’s me!” and now his voice is sure, pleading.
He continues backing up, trying to get away, but he’s bumps into a wall of people, and when he looks up at their leering faces, he sees that their eyes are black too.
That sends him recoiling back into the center of the circle with the moon-struck sundrop, who continues chanting;
“Break these Earthly chains”
She doesn’t belong to the sun anymore. She’s a thing of moon and shadow.
On “chains” her blackened hair, of its own accord, snaps around his arms and torso like he’s the offending ship, and it’ll bend him till he breaks.
“Rapunzel! Please!” he shouts, “It’s me, Varian! I-I’m your friend!” but the last three words are cracking gasps, because something is infecting his lungs; something very cold is reaching into the center of his chest, a living emptiness, sucking away, feeding off, all the light and life in him. His chest is stinging, aching, burning—
“And set the spirit free.”
This is more than just heartache. Decay is eating at his body, corroding it away like acid.
And the alchemist can do nothing but watch as the black eats him alive; his lungs collapsing in on themselves, like his breath was built on sand—(but it feels like he’s breathing too much)—gripping his heart, digging in like needles—(but it feels like it’s beating too fast)—wrapping around his hands, his feet and unraveling them into strings of lifeless flesh.
He reaches out with breathless voice and lifeless hands to the only person whose voice never raised throughout this affair, who never insulted him, whose gaze has not been doused in moonless night, the one for whom all this was done:
“Dad! Dad help me!” The words are swallowed by the black in his throat.
Quirin turns away.
And as it devours him—
There’s a ceiling above him, a bed below him, a nightlight made of glowing tubes beside him.
He’s still alive—a little too alive; sitting bolt upright in bed, breath heavy and gasping on his chest, sweat dripping down his face, beneath his clothes, as if he really was in some epic sea battle, still able to taste the end of those last words on awake lips.
It takes a moment for reality to tie its strings around him, pull him back to the ground again, for his breath to deepen, and his mind to clear. For him to realize that this is, in fact, his room, not a city road, or a cell, and he is a fourteen-year-old-boy again; an alchemist, a son, a friend, a kid…not a villain, a criminal, or a prisoner. Not anymore.
He grimaces, bringing his knees up and hugging them, burying his face in them, like he always did when these sorts of things plagued him in his cell, and he had no dad to run to. He has his dad back to run to now…but he can’t go to him, not anymore, not about this.
Maybe he isn’t anymore, but he was once; all the things the dreamified versions of his friends accused him of were true. …And his half awake brain wonders if they really thought those things, beneath it all.
He had hoped, if and when he was free from prison, and better yet, forgiven, that he would be free of these villainous dreams too.
Ruddiger chitters from the bed beside him, pawing at his hand.
He must have hoped the nightmares would stop too.
“I’m okay, Ruddiger,” he says softly. “I just—”
Is he?
Because it isn’t over. Not really. Not enough.
He had his father back, yes. He was out of prison. Yes. And Rapunzel had forgiven him, and, as, it seemed, did the rest of her gang—(“Where’s Cass?” He’d asked once all the kingdom-saving was over, and he’d scanned the group, and found an empty slot in the lineup. Eugene said they’d tell him later, when everything was more settled…and Varian didn’t much like the sound of that)—Yes. But that didn’t mean everyone else did.
It didn’t mean the King and Queen did. When their memories were restored, what would they think? What would they do when they saw the kid who kidnapped the Queen, tried to kill their citizens and princess, who they’d locked up, running about? What could he say?
Oh, hi, remember me? You know, the kid who kidnapped you and threatened your daughter? The one who sent a monster and a bunch of automatons to cause havoc to your kingdom, and endanger the lives of your subjects? Yeah, that’s me. It’s all good now. Would you like a cookie?
They didn’t come into the kingdom, or the dungeon, often, so they weren’t liable to notice right away when their memories did return…but that didn’t mean they wouldn’t. And when they did…what if they didn’t believe Rapunzel, or him? What if they sent him back to that cell? Would he have to spend the rest of his days sitting with Andrew and his equally-all-natural-scented cronies? Would he grow up with three walls and some bars for a teacher? Never to use alchemy again, never to see his dad again, never to eat a good meal, or smell the flowers, or kiss a girl…
And then there was the question using the back of his mind as a chew toy: What will dad think?
Varian would do everything in his power to hide it—sweep the subject under beds and rugs and opportunely-placed cabinets—but he was bound to clean up eventually.
And… what would Quirin do then? Would he look at him as he had in the dream? Would he take back the ‘I’m proud of you’ that Varian did all those horrible things just to hear? Would he hate him? Punish him? Kick him out? Send him back to that cell himself?
Of course he will. How could he ever be proud of you after he learns everything you’ve done? His mind taunts.
He had said as much to Rapunzel. “If he knew all the things I’d done, well he’d be ashamed.”
With nothing but walls, bars, and a bunch of separatists for company, he had rehearsed the words he’d say to her so many times in his head. It started with ‘I don’t need your help Princess!’ to ‘Rapunzel I…Well, it doesn’t matter.’ then ‘I…I didn’t mean it, you know that, right?’ then after a few more drafts it became something full of tears and—‘I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry Rapunzel…I didn’t mean to hurt you, I didn’t mean to hurt anybody…I just wanted to make my dad proud, but I know he won’t be anymore, I know he won’t, I know, I’m such an idiot, I know, I know—‘ And finally it was what he had actually said—with his heart hammering in his throat.
Her acceptance of his words, of him, had been sheer relief. Saving the kingdom never felt so good.
Yet at the same time, that idea that Quirin would be ashamed hadn’t changed just because Rapunzel had forgiven him. Just because his father was out of the amber, and Varian was out of prison, didn’t mean everything he’d done to get his father out, everything that had got him into prison, was erased. He was still going to learn all the things his screw-up-of-a-son did.
It was bad enough when his experiments failed. When Dad walked in to see acid steaming on the walls, and burns on his son’s forearms. He knew how all-too-often his dad was a having a perfectly pleasant, normal, non-stress-inducing day, when he heard explosions coming from his son’s room.
And having to tell him was almost always worse. Having to tell him how he may or may not have set the Goslicks prized chicken on fire, and well needless to say it wasn’t going to be so prized anymore… How they’d have to stay with friends for three to five days, because the gas steaming from the lab wasn’t exactly the intended effect...Or why the town’s water supply mysteriously found itself pink and tasting of croissants…Standing there with his insides writhing, awaiting his punishment, or simply having to live with the look of disappointment on his face, was always worse than how it felt to actually make the mistake.
This was more than a few accidental side effects. This was something he did on purpose. Something he actually deserved to be punished for, not just with a reprimand, or a time out, or spanking from his father, but with actual prison time from the king.
Which would be worse? Dad finding out somehow…or the thought of having to tell him himself?
How would that even go anyways?
“Well dad, while you were in the amber I…did some stuff.”
“Stuff?”
“Yeah, stuff…” and he’d cough the next few words into his sleeve “crimes, acts of treason...whatever you wanna call it. You know that sundrop flower everyone always talks about? I may or may not have uhh borrowed it.”
“Borrowed?”
“Borrowed, stolen, let’s not go into semantics here.”
“Wait,” he’d wave his hands and put one on his forehead, “You’re not actually telling me you stole from the king—” And he’d stand, all menacing.
“Yeah, you might wanna stay sitting down for this,”—Varian would look away, backing up, rubbing the back of his neck nervously—“it’s a long story, and not exactly the standing-up kind.”
“Varian—” He wouldn’t sit down, in fact he’d keep marching towards him.
“I-I thought it would help you b-break out of the amber.”Varian would stumble in both words and action, and the thought of meeting his eyes would be pure torture. “I-I thought I could if I could just get my hands on the sundrop I could—”—and he’s speaking too fast, too loud now— “I could…I-I thought…I just…”—and then, the next second too slow, too soft—“I thought…” And then the words would trail off, excuses falling limp and lifeless in his mouth as the truth caught up with him.
Even in his rehearsal he couldn’t finish the idea. Couldn’t let his father get a word in edgewise, because if he did…
Either option sounded like an evil mastermind’s best torture plan. Yeah, no matter how many times Quirin taught him it was best to tell the truth, he would never bring himself to say that to him.
His father’s pride was all that mattered, the thought of losing it…
He throws his legs over the side of the bed, letting the static in his eyes scatter before standing. He glances out the window at the navy sky injected with orange, but morningless still.
He grabs his goggles and apron, Ruddiger at his his heels as he heads downstairs to his lab, doing what he always does when he stressed…well, when he’s in any mood really: alchemy.
It was strange to see this place without the amber. It golden tower had become a permanent decoration, a reminder of how alchemy had failed him, how he had failed his father… a sort of dark promise.
He and Rapunzel hit reset…yet he couldn’t return to how things were before the storm so easily as she could.
He pulls on his gloves and goggles, his thoughts still churning.
When Dad found out…would he send him back to prison? The people of Corona could shout all they wanted, but they didn’t have the authority to send him back there.
But his dad…He could punish him, could turn him in. Varian forgot what it was, but he had once taken one of Quirin’s things and tried to experiment on it…and he quite clearly remembered sitting outside in the rain without dinner that night. What would he do when he learned he’d kidnapped the Queen, sent a monster after the citizens, and automatons after his friends? Dads should punish their kids when they steal cookies, much less kidnap queens and threaten princesses. They should teach their kids to rescue princesses from towers, and damsels in distress, without accepting so much as a kiss as payment, and always abide by, and uphold, the law.
His eyes fall upon a book on his desk.
It was funny really. Varian loved the tales of Flynn Rider; this hero who always defeated the villains and saved the day.
And here he was, the bad guy. Just like the ones who Flynn had to use his wit and sword skills to defeat.
The baddies’ motives always seemed so ridiculous in the past; taking over the world, leveling cities for the sake of scorned love, destroying kingdoms for the sake of a grudge…
The beaker he’s holding slips from his grasp. Ruddiger catches it with his tail before it hits the ground.
“Thanks buddy,” he takes it back from him.
He holds up the beaker his reflection distorted in the glass.
The villain.
The word burns like bile at the back of his brain.
The thought of his dad seeing him like that, not just with disappointment in his eyes, but as a criminal, a traitor, a villain, for all the things he did to save him…
“Varian—”
Varian gasps, fumbling again, but this time he manages to catch it, “Dad! Hey!” he sets the beaker down, turning to him, “Hi! It’s good—good to see you! Good morning!”
Quirin smiles as he walks into the lab, yawning and stretching. “I feel like I’ve been asleep for years.”
“Well, to be fair, you, uhh, almost have.” Varian pulls his goggles onto his head.
“How long was I out for, again?”
“Uhh…ehh I don’t know, I mean, it’s all kind of a blur—”
—He tries not to think of tallymarks on prison walls—
His father grunts in response, walking around the lab, looking at all the writings on these walls. The same ones left over from all those months long ago—those months when he would do anything to get him out—collecting dust, and the new ones for the Saporians. Varian sidesteps over to the worst ones, hiding them behind his back.
“You discover any new elements while I was out?” he asks, half-jokingly.
“Oh…uhh…” he rubs the back of his neck, chuckling nervously, “N-Nah. I was kinda…uhh…preoccupied…”
Quirin’s expression shifts, the smile fading. He steps up to his son—who stares at him, and for a second, something fearful in Varian wonders if he’s onto him—but then Quirin leans forward and wraps him into a bone-cracking hug.
Varian’s eyes widen in surprise, but he lifts his arms and returns the gesture, squeezing tightly, smiling.
This was the thing he missed most; not the smell of flowers and cupcakes, not good food, or alchemy, not even Rapunzel’s everlasting smiles….his dad’s hugs.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have…” Quirin sighs, “That must have been very difficult for you,” Quirin murmurs into his ear, “having to make it all on your own.”—Varian’s eyes widen again, but this time it doesn’t turn into a smile— “I’m so sorry you had to go through that…And I’m so proud that you made it through.” He brushes his hand through his hair.
When he releases him, Varian looks from his father to ground, smiling sheepishly, brushing the hair from his eyes, unsure what to say.
“I’m here if you ever want to talk about anything.”
“Oh—Yeah—Thanks—Well—”
“Of course—” Quirin clarifies, “you don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to. I’m just saying, I’m here if you ever do.”
“Thanks.” He tries to smile.
There’s an awkward pause, then Quirin turns to leave, “I’ll let you get back to it—”
“Wait, dad,” Varian grabs his arm, “I was thinking…maybe we could spend some time together today? You know, like a father-son-day…thing?”
“I’d love to, Varian,” he puts his hand on his cheek, “but…as I have been, uhh, out of commission, for a long time, I really must get back to my duties. You know, become reacquainted with the town and what’s going on.”
“Oh…Oh! Yeah, right, of course. Psh,” he waves his hand, “It wasn’t that big a deal anyways.”
“You’re welcome to come along, if you like.”
Varian contemplates it. From experience these sorts of trips around town were pretty boring; mostly discussing how well crops were growing, and if anybody needed help repairing their house and whatnot, and Varian’s alchemical solutions were more often than not brushed aside...But he does want to spend time with his dad, not to mention the fact that there would probably be a number of things in town still in need of repairing, whose circumstances Varian wouldn’t exactly want explained to his dad…
“Sure, I’d love to.”
“Wonderful.” He smiles.
“I’ll meet you out there in just a minute.”
Quirin nods, making his way up the stairs.
Varian turns to clean up his work station but does so too quickly, accidentally knocking the beaker to the ground at last, it shattering with a puff of blue smoke, the contents spilling out, his hand hanging uselessly in the air, reaching towards it.
Ruddiger bounds over to it to help clean up. After they finish, the raccoon sits on his back legs, cocking his head to the side, chittering worriedly.
“It’s okay, buddy.” He smiles.
The Raccoon still looks worried.
“I’m okay.”
…Is he?

black coffee | jack mercer
a/n: um, jack mercer isn’t dead because he never should of died, also if you’ve got any requests for jack or bobby i’ll be more than happy to give it a shot! synopsis: Jack’s been lumped with the job of getting coffee the morning after Christmas. Hungover, he find’s you, a lover friend from the past working behind the counter.
Tumblr media
Jack always gets lumped with the jobs nobody wants to do. It’s Boxing Day, the day after Christmas, and after celebrating with his brothers yesterday (and getting wasted with them later in the night) he’s just about ready to fall asleep standing up.
Yet here he is, freezing his ass off outside the local diner just because his brothers wanted coffee and he pulled the short straw.
Should of wore a jacket – a real one, not one decorated in chains and cloaked with leather – and gloves that actually had finger tips – yet he didn’t, so he’s freezing his ass off as he opens the door and is met with the cliche ding of the bell above the metal.
The warm air hits him instantly and he’s met with the warmth of the heater blasting through the stained booths and the smell of stale coffee. It’s almost empty and he registers that mostly everybody is still in bed, it is 9 in the morning on a holiday after all.
So he takes his time, eyes perusing over the patrons who are too busy reading the newspaper or in their own heads to realise he’s staring. Everybody but you.
You’ve worked the night shift, tired as hell, ready to fall into bed when the ding snaps you out of your day dream. Turning around from the coffee pot – and your own steaming cup of coffee – you find the back of a tall man, cloaked in leather and dotted with snowflakes. You lean forward on the counter “Can I help you sir?”
He spins around almost automatically, snapping from his daydream like you did earlier. “Yeah ca-“and he stops mid-sentence, the words caught in the back of his throat as his eyes fall upon you.
You don’t realise it at first, eyes still glazed over from your out of body experience just moments ago, and as you take in his statue – baby blue eyes, long gelled hair, band shirt and boots – you feel your heart beat begin to pick up and breath start to shorten.
“Holy shit, Jack is that you?” slips from your lips, and Jack’s still lost, looking at you, trying to pick his memories from the repressed collection he’s got in the back of his mind. Your voice brings him back, and he’s spitting out “Y/N?” while fiddling with the rosary around his neck.
“Oh my god” you whisper, and he walks closer to the counter top, wearing that familiar smirk that he used to save just for you. “You’re in Detroit?” he starts, eyes flickering between yours and you nod, saying “Yeah, mum got hospitalised for her back so I’m just helping around the house for a while”
“Ah shit, I’m sorry” he speaks softly, sweetly, like the Jacky boy you knew before you left for college and he the world of performance. “No, don’t be” you shake your head, and drop your voice an octave “-I’m sorry about, Evelyn” rubbing your arm, you carry on “-I just heard, I didn’t know you were here, I got here like three days ago I’m sorry Ja-“
“No, stop, Y/N, it’s fine, thank you” he looks at you, then drops his head, coughs, plays with the sugar holder at the counter top “-I missed you” and the breath catches in your throat.
“Really? I’d of thought you’d be too busy to miss me, what was it you wanted?” “Um, just four coffee’s to go please” and as you busy yourself behind the counter, Jack carries on “Never too busy to miss you Y/N, it’s you that would be too busy – hot shot like you going to Michigan state”
You laugh “College wasn’t all it’s cracked up to be, I’m back here, aren’t I?” You lean on the counter as the pot boils, standing up on your tip toes as you grin up at him, lost in the way he licks his lips and blushes a deep crimson. “Getting into any trouble Mercer?” you speak.
He shakes his head, putting his hands up “You know me Y/N, law abiding citizen”
“Yeah, and I’m the pope” and you turn around just as he starts laughing, missing the way he gives you a full body laugh and you smile as you pour the coffee into the to-go cups. Jack starts again “I really did miss you Y/N…” he itches his neck “…we should catch up one day”
“You asking me out on a date Mercer?” “Is that what it sounds like?
You nod softly, putting the cups into the holder as you hum and slide them to him. He puts the money on the counter and “Then that’s what it is” Jack finishes in his tenor, and you slip the money into the register, handing the change into his gloved hand. “What time do you get off?” Jack smiles, a smirk slipping up the side of his mouth and you grin, shaking your head “In two hours”
“I’ll meet you here in three then?” he speaks sheepishly and you smile, nodding. As you leave, you busy yourself fixing up behind the counter, but you’re interrupted when you hear “Hey, you can’t go back there” and you turn around, seeing Jack behind the counter throwing the finger to the manager.
“Jack, what are you-“and he wraps his arms around you, pulling you into his body as he nuzzles into your neck, hair tickling your cheek and cologne wafting into your nose.
“It was great seeing you Y/N” Jack goes. “I’m glad you’re back” and he leaves suddenly, not looking back as he leaves the diner with his coffees in hand and a smile on his face.

NIKON PLAYCATION ENTRY:⁣ ‘GROGU YEARNING FOR MACARONS’⁣ ⁣ If you follow ‘The Mandalorian’ then you'll know that his young charge, Grogu, loves macarons. During our at home period, when things were at their worst because of the pandemic, my family embraced streaming services like Disney+, so that we could enjoy shows like ‘The Mandalorian’ when going to the movies wasn’t an option. My photo of Grogu yearning for blue macarons is also the basis of my review below.⁣ @nikonaustralia #nikonplaycation⁣ ⁣ 'THE MANDALORIAN' SEASON 2: 9/10⁣ 🎬 SYNOPSIS & 😎 NON-SPOILER REVIEW⁣ ⁣ 🎬: At the end of Season 1, 'The Mandalorian' aka 'Mando' [Pedro Pascal] is charged with ensuring that the juvenile that he has been protecting is safely handed over to another Jedi - of which there are few left - to complete its training. However, the Jedi are known enemies of the Mandalorians!!⁣ ⁣ Along the way, Mando must trade tasks with both law-abiding citizens & known criminals in order to locate an elusive Jedi, Ahsoka Tano [Rosario Dawson], whom he believes is the best choice to train the child [whom he later discovers is called ‘Grogu’].⁣ ⁣ Will Mando succeed in finding a Jedi who can complete Grogu’s training.⁣ ⁣ 😎: Pedro Pascal continues to perfectly execute the lone ruthless warrior from Season 1, but now being in charge of the child has changed his perspective on what is important.⁣ ⁣ Crossing paths with other Mandalorians including the infamous Boba Fett [Temuera Morrison] & heir-apparent to the Mandalorian Empire, Bo-Katan Kryze [Katee Sackhoff], Mando must call upon old friends & utilise the services of former foes while avoiding Moff Gideon [Giancarlo Esposito], the Imperial Security Bureau officer [obsessed with experimenting on Grogu] who also yields the ‘Darksaber,’ a prized weapon stolen from the original Mandalorian Empire.⁣ ⁣ The visuals are stunning but take 2nd place to a cleverly constructed script with well-executed & complicated yet flawed characters. ‘The Mandalorian’ is far superior to any of the movies in the trilogy of trilogies & the ending of Season 2 is unbelievable. There is no better time to start watching the series than now on Disney+. ©️ https://www.instagram.com/p/CKbbRpPFEOv/?igshid=b4zf28s8lqy9

I finished a dystopian novel about a country ruled by the bible last year, but I'm having trouble publishing it via /r/atheism
Submitted June 10, 2020 at 05:33PM by Queen_Of_Ashes_ (Via reddit https://ift.tt/2YpkxlV) I finished a dystopian novel about a country ruled by the bible last year, but I'm having trouble publishing it
I came up with the concept in 2013, after I had managed to fully embrace my atheism. Why not write a book about all the sexism, misogyny, homophobia, and hypocrisy written in the Bible, and turn it into a dystopian to highlight all of the flaws with that kind of society? A kind of society, by the way, that still exists today; prominently in countries overseas, who continue to punish women for being raped, or punish men for loving outside the "norm." A kind of society that we live in even in America, where women's rights are up for political debate, where Christianity has constructed the skeleton of our laws and regulations we follow blindly even today.
So I wrote Godless, but I wanted to have it formally published. After querying several agents, and now with most people not wanting to sell dystopian due to Coronavirus, it's looking less and less likely for Godless to ever get published.
I'm thinking of self-publishing again (it'll be my 4th novel), but I'm not sure if there's even a demand for it any more. So I wanted to ask you if you have any interest in this kind of novel.
Sorry in advance if this isn't allowed, but it feels to me like the kind of book that could open up some eyes to the inequality found in the world today all because some guy "says so." Promoting change is the best I can hope for with this book.
Anyway, here's the synopsis to Godless, hope you like it:
In the ashes of a godless country rose New Prylea, a land founded on the morals and justice system of an all-loving deity named Deo. The theocentric government requires perfect obedience of New Prylean citizens, lest they all be severely and righteously punished.
Sixteen-year-old Eve Rivers lives a quiet life as a model New Prylean citizen. She respects her mother, obeys her father, leads flawless examples for her siblings, and above all, never questions the laws of her country.
But when Eve meets a mysterious stranger, her carefully-structured world begins to crumble. Daily life and societal expectations suddenly seem twisted and cruel, and her country's god morphs from merciful to bloodthirsty. Eve must make a choice: continue as a rule-abiding citizen and survive, or rebel...and risk losing everything.

 EDU 465 Topic 6 – Discussion Question 1
Parker Palmer urges his readers to be people that strive to live a life that is not divided – that they live from the inside out and model their faith and stance in all that they do. Is it possible to live an undivided life? If not, why not? If so, what would need to change in your life to unify your beliefs and your actions?
 EDU 465 Topic 6 – Discussion Question 2
Regardless of a person’s faith or lack of it, should a person have a philosophy of kindness that guides his or her life decisions?
EDU 465 Topic 6 Assignment Ethics, Morals, and Laws Essay
 Details:
There are three sets of guiding principles that direct how people live their lives – ethics, morals, and laws (or the ethical, the moral, and the legal). Recently, the lines between the three sets of principles have become blurred. Often, people no longer can tell the difference between morals and ethics. Many companies have a Code of Ethics that is enforced through negative consequences in much the same way laws are enforced making ethical behavior mandated by law.
In this assignment, you will discuss the similarities and differences between ethics, morals, and laws, and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of having the lines between those principles blurred.
In a paper of 500-750 words discuss the roles ethics, morals, and laws play in people’s lives. In your paper include the following:
1.     A definition of ethics
2.     A definition of morals
3.     A definition of laws
4.     Compare the roles ethics, morals, and laws play in people’s lives.
5.     Explore the advantages and disadvantages of having the distinction between ethics, morals, and laws blurred.
Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.
This assignment uses a grading rubric. Review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.
You are required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite.
 EDU 465 Topic 7 – Discussion Question 1
When you began your service-learning project, you had certain goals. How do the outcomes of your project compare with the goals you had when you began the project? Did your project turn out better, worse, or about the same as you thought it would? Why?
 EDU 465 Topic 7 – Discussion Question 2
How has completing the service-learning project changed your views of contributing to charitable organizations? Are you more or less likely to contribute to a charitable organization in the future? Why or why not?
EDU 465 Topic 7 Assignment Capstone Assignment
 Details:
When this course began, you were directed to identify, plan, execute, and evaluate an educational service learning project in a non-traditional community-based setting that does not require licensure/certification. In previous topics you identified, planned, and executed your project.
In this assignment you will evaluate your service learning project and reflect on the learning that took place.
Write a reflective essay of 750-1,000 words in which you look back on the completed project.
Include the following in your reflection:
1.     The name of the organization in which you executed your plan and what factors led you to conduct your service project in that organization
2.     As a result of doing this project, are you more likely or less likely to donate money and/or time to this or other charitable organizations. Why?
3.     Discuss how this project involved being a Servant Leader, either on your part or on the part of someone you observed.
4.     What did you learn about your calling to be an educator?
5.     The Greeks are credited with coining the phrase “know thyself.” In  keeping with this expression, what did you learn about yourself as a person and as a leader as a result of doing this project?
Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

Gringo (2018) Review!!!
'Gringo' is a likable well-placed comedy which despite a bloated and rudderless script turns out to a worthy watch for genre fans. #amandaseyfried, #Amazon, #charlizetheron, #DavidOyelowo, #Gringo, #JoelEdgerton, #SharltoCopley, #ThandieNewton, #YulVazquez, #GringoMovie
Synopsis – GRINGO, a dark comedy mixed with white-knuckle action and dramatic intrigue, explores the battle of survival for businessman Harold Soyinka (David Oyelowo) when he finds himself crossing the line from law-abiding citizen to wanted criminal.
My Take –Gone are the days when we would walk into an ensemble-driven comedy expecting rapid-fire dialogue with quips flying as often as bullets,…

What They Want to Believe Ch1--Tangled Varian and Quirin Fic
Title: What They Want to Believe
Synopsis: Quirin has to find out what Varian did eventually.
(For all those who like Varian’s canon redemption, but who are looking for some more could-be-canon angst.)
Chapter 1 Preview:
He turns again, and Monty is at their side. He is the first to actually speak;
“You know, you’ve got some nerve to show your face around here.”
