hopeless time loop. the way out isn’t to save everyone. the way out isn’t to save even one person. the way out isn’t to change anything. the way out is accepting how it happened the first time is how it always will be. that’s how you acted, that’s how they acted, that’s how you would have acted every time if you weren’t given the curse of hindsight. the way out is accepting you can’t fix the past; you can only forgive yourself for it.

#there's this game i love called little hope that plays with these ideas (though not with a time loop)#i do love time loops narratives that explore how a person is confronted with their life and their choices #when forced to live the same day over and over again #and i LOVE time loops that try to reverse mistakes made and lives lost #but to see a character put themselves through loops upon loops upon loops #trying to rectify past mistakes (especially in the case where people died) only to be confronted with the reality it isn't working #and even in a loop where they save everyone the loop just resets #because the universe is essentially saying 'no that isn't how it happened and you know that's not how it happened'#it compels me!#i feel similarly about time travel where time 'fights back'#like this idea that there is a central timeline that time does not like being diverted from #so it will try to course correct itself #you save lincoln from an assassination only for him to die in a train crash #it's a cool way to confront the idea of fate #anyway all tragedies are hopeless time loops thank you for coming to my ted talk #a shout into the void #1k

Danny would like everyone to know it was a complete accident. Look, normally he was really good at not altering the timeline! He was!

But the dude was definitely not in the right Time, and he had to get his trust which took so long, like damn he thought he had anxiety. Seriously though, kevlar in the 1700s? Yeah that wasn’t right, and Peepaw always complained about the messes that the speedsters caused, so he was trying to prevent a mess by tugging the dude away and helping him out.

Falling in love maybe a little, was not in the plan. But honestly the man had a worse sense of self preservation than he did as a teen and was also straight up adorable, in a wet cat who could kill you sort of way.

So maybe he helped the dude grab a child that was going to be drowned. It wasn’t like anyone else saw them! Even if similar situations might’ve happened a few different times.

Still, no one saw them!

So why is there now a small cult who worships the Shadowed one and Radiant one, aka his companion (who would not give his name save for B, which, fair, probably didn’t want to accidentally wreck the timeline either) and well, him?! At least they worship them as guardians of children, but uh. Should he maybe, perhaps, fix this…?

Eldritch Nika!!! I’ve always been fascinated with this idea ever since reading those fics where Nika is a separate entity (that may or may not have a an agenda of his own) and slowly influences Luffy to being a facsimile of himself. The You are my Sunshine and At the Gallows… are my favorites of Luffy being… slightly off and uncanny due to Gear 5/Devil Fruit. And all those “Gear 5 at Marineford” fics where everyone is horrified at the reality bending he does (Time Moves Through You being my favorite) are fantastic and big inspiration.

Just considering the potential horrific deaths the JL may have suffered under someone who has intangibility in their power list

Like! There’s a general agreement that Dan eviserated the JL [The magic users probably lasting longer] in his timeline but I don’t think we touched on the horrifying potential.

We are all perfectly aware of the gory violent potential Dan is capable of [*Eyeing the unspoken murder/suicide of his human half and how that might have gone*].

If he can kill off his Fenton half [and inflict whatever misery he might have gleefully put Masters through] without a thought, what do you think he would do to the caped community?

Especially if you go the “JL ignored Amity Parks’ call for help” route

Also: It wouldn’t have been a long ongoing battle. This dude would probably disappear from days to weeks at a time [Either rejuvenating in the Ghost Zone or making himself the ghost’ problem]. The heroes would be on edge just waiting for when he’d come back

i..just realised that the people closest to sol, her family her best friend — taesung — are all living in what we can assume is their best timeline.

her house is filled of family members — boisterous and joyful and full of love

hyunjoo is happily married to im geum — with kids and a job

which means it’s safe to assume that im geum is probably just as happy, having a family life that isn’t falling apart because he can’t financially support his family on his own

and taesung is following in his dad’s footsteps — choosing to chill behind bars because it’s a better ‘vibe’ than being behind bars because he kept messing up as a kid and not taking anything seriously. working as a cop, as a detective, but still being himself

and all this without even mentioning that she changed sunjae’s fate yet again by steering clear of him and making sure he never has anything to do with taxi man and his inevitable death

and i genuinely think all of this is thanks to sol- while trying hard to avoid sunjae from the very beginning, protecting him, she also guided her loved ones so they could be the best versions of themselves 🥹

she worked so hard and did so so so well even if she was probably drowning in grief for most of that time with no one to really talk to — people would just think her insane, or tell her to just go talk to that random tall neighbour of hers if she misses him

and uughhhhh
