Steven is having an exceptional morning.
He’d surprisingly woken up fully rested, had enough time to pour himself a bowl of cereal for breakfast, and caught the 8:30 bus to work without much hassle. There was even a seat available for Steven once he boarded. However, he ended up letting an elderly woman sit there after she hopped on at the next stop.
His good deed was rewarded when she handed him a piece of his favorite toffee. Although accepting candy from strangers isn’t always the best thing to do, he appreciated the lovely gesture anyhow.
It didn’t halt there, though. Much to his delight, Steven was informed that Donna would be gone for the next several days. Something about coming down with a very nasty cold over the weekend. Sure, he’s decent enough to wish his infuriating manager to get better soon. Still, her absence means that he could work in utter peace in the meantime, which is a rarity in itself.
For now, there would be no snarky remarks. No threats to shove him into a sarcophagus. No, “Stevie, stop annoying the customers and start selling to them,” or “Stevie, you bumbling idiot, why can’t you do your job right?”
God, he really hated that name. Stevie. What was so difficult for Donna to call him by his actual name?
But besides the point, everything was going splendidly well. It wasn’t too busy at the museum on this cloudy Monday. There wasn’t much to do aside from checking out at the register and tidying up the merchandise displayed ever so often.
At one point, a little boy approached Steven as he rearranged the Tawaret plushies in a neat, organized pyramid shape. The child had shown quite an interest in them, and Steven had been more than happy to introduce the stuffed toy of the hippo goddess to him.
Steven loved this unofficial part of his job, sharing tidbits of history to those willing to listen, young or old. He believes that he’d be a fantastic tour guide; he’s more than qualified for it. Perhaps one day, it’ll happen.
Perhaps, perhaps.
Noon arrives in a blink of an eye, and Steven steps out of the gift shop area in time for his lunch break. He heads to the break room on the second floor with a pep in each step. Smiling and greeting each person that he comes across, not minding if they choose to ignore him. He was in a great mood, enthusiastic and eager more than usual. Today is turning out to be such an easy shift on what’s already a wonderful day.
Not to mention how excited Steven is for the dinner he has with Dylan later that evening. She’s a total sweetheart, one of the few genuinely nice people he works with. Every time Dylan was around, she’d often stop by to say hi to him, even if she was rushing to get her tour started. He doesn’t recall the very moment he asked her out; his memory is a little spotty as of late, but did it really matter? Steven was finally going on a date after what seemed like forever, and he was planning on making it as perfect as it could be.
Rounding the corner to where the employee lounge is, Steven’s ears suddenly perk up upon catching his name through the slightly ajar door. Instantly, he recognizes one of the voices coming from inside— Dylan’s.
A part of him didn’t want to stand there and eavesdrop, but it piqued his curiosity. So he loiters in the hallway, listening to the muffled conversation in the other room.
“A date? With Steven? Steven Grant from the gift shop? Him?” The other woman chatting with Dylan asked almost incredulously. Steven is certain that it’s Leslie, a seasoned tour guide who he isn’t particularly fond of, considering how frequently she talks about people behind their back. And he is her latest topic of conversation, as it would appear.
“Yeah,” he overhears Dylan’s reply, and there’s a softness to her voice. One that made Steven’s heartbeat flutter. “He asked me out to dinner a couple of days ago, and I always thought he was cute, so I said yes.”
A demeaning chuckle erupts from Leslie, and Steven rolls his eyes. “Huh, good luck with him, I guess.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
Steven shifts closer to the entrance, careful to remain unseen by pressing himself against the wall.
“Oh, you know. Steven is… how should I say this— he just strikes me as the inexperienced type, if you get what I’m trying to say.”
Inexperienced? Hearing that causes him to stiffen, his stomach twisting into a tight knot. It’s like a punch to the gut, a sensation he couldn’t easily shake off.
“Really?” There’s a mixture of disbelief in Dylan’s tone. “I mean, I don’t think that should be an issue.”
“Maybe, but come on, Dylan. Shall I go through your history of exes and recount to you the one common thread between them all, which was how they made your sex life more thrilling? As a friend, I’m only giving you a heads up. Because to me, Steven Grant has probably never even kissed a soul in his life, much less slept with one.”
The last bit stings the most. It isn’t true that Steven was a virgin or had yet to have his first kiss. He wasn’t wholly celibate, but it’d been many, many years since anything of that sort had happened.
Certainly, he remembers his first. They say you never forget your firsts, and that was a time in his life that will last in his memories forever, though not for the good reasons as one would expect.
His first kiss with his first girlfriend was understandably nerve-wracking. Awkward and hesitant, but for 20-year-old Steven, it was normal. First kisses were supposed to be that way. Yet from what he can recall, things did not get better for him, unfortunately.
Barely kissing him after that, he’d been pressured by her to have sex. It’s not that Steven didn’t want to, but he wasn’t ready. That it was still too early in their relationship to do so. Not wishing to upset her, however, he reluctantly agreed after her constant badgering.
It was only then did Steven realized the truth: that despite thinking he loved her, she only lusted for him. Took advantage of his vulnerability and robbed him of something special and intimate. He’d never felt so used.
And if that weren’t bad enough, the woman broke up with him soon after he lost his virginity to her. Giving Steven the most unoriginal excuse in the world— “it’s not you, it’s me.”
Deep down, Steven knew it was him. It’s always him. The whole experience and its aftermath have had an effect on him, lasting up to now. Though he yearns to be with someone, to find unconditional love one day, it hasn’t been easy, especially in this day and age when the hook-up culture is prevalent. Lots of people quickly get turned off if you aren’t an expert in bed, and it’s why Steven has felt so deterred from the dating scene, among other reasons that he doesn’t want to touch on just yet.
So when he found out that he had a date with Dylan, he was less fraught about it. Simply because Steven knows her, and she’d always been friendly with him. He thought that his lack of intimate experience in his late thirties wouldn’t matter to her. That she’d be different, that she’d understand and would be okay with it.
Now? Steven isn’t too sure.
And frankly, he’s crestfallen to learn that he has been possibly wrong about her all this time.
Losing his appetite entirely, Steven dejectedly saunters away from the area, tossing the cold sandwich he packed this morning into a nearby rubbish bin. He didn’t wait long enough to hear Dylan’s response. Not that he wanted to, assuming that what she’ll say next would crush his spirits further.
And just like that, his bright and jolly demeanor is washed away by his fears and his insecurities— his thoughts of not being good enough for anyone.
The remainder of his shift goes by uneventfully. Steven’s interactions with the guests have become dry and lackluster. For the first time since clocking in, he was staring at the clock and counting the minutes down until he could punch out.
He’d receive a text from Dylan a half an hour before the museum closed, not even bothering to ask him in person if they’re still on for tonight. To be polite, Steven replies, “yes,” however. Thinking it would be rude to cancel at the last minute.
Still, he already knows that his heart wouldn’t be fully into it.
Just one dinner, and don’t expect more, he convinces himself as he closes up shop for the night. He tells himself again as he boards the bus back home. Once more as he stands there in the middle of the packed bus, holding onto a handgrip while staring at the darkening horizon passing by. Steven says it a final time as he gets off at the stop across his flat, pushing past the sea of passersby crowding the street until he finally reaches the front door.
It’s quiet the moment he steps inside the building, the door shutting behind him with a soft click. Steven lingers by the entryway for some time; glassy eyes slide shut with his head knocked back against the metal frame as he lets out a long exhale from his nostrils.
“Bad day, I take it?”
Steven slowly blinks his eyes open, and it’s as if the ache in his chest swiftly settles at the sound of your voice. He allows a small smile to flicker on his face when he spots you standing by the mailboxes with several letters in hand and balancing a package on your hip.
Truth be told, you never fail to make him smile. That’s why you’re his favorite person in the world, followed by his mother and Gus, of course.
“Yeah, you can say that,” Steven mumbles lukewarm before striding across the foyer and easing your struggle by carrying the box for you. “Let me get this for you, darling.”
“Thanks, Steven,” you return, your gaze never leaving his. A hand gently closes around Steven’s bicep, then a soft squeeze in reassurance. “Seriously, though. Is everything okay? What happened at work?”
He doesn’t answer your question immediately. Instead, Steven silently strolls to the lift down the hall. He takes his time searching for the right words to explain his predicament. Not that he’s afraid of sharing details so personal— not when you and he have been close friends since you moved into the studio next door to him.
Best friends, you would call yourselves, as a matter of fact. Two inseparable peas in a pod. Steven could always count on you to have his back; he could tell you any secrets he has buried deep within, and he wouldn’t worry about you betraying his trust.
Steven has never had this— has never had someone like you in his life. A friend, a confidante. Nobody has ever been as kind and caring to Steven as you are. Before he met you, he thought people like you didn’t exist. Or perhaps they do, but he’s one of the very few unlucky ones that don’t get the pleasure of knowing someone with a tender heart similar to yours.
Fate is something Steven’s unsure of whether or not it is real. But if it were, he’d thank the universe and beyond for letting him cross paths with you.
“It’s uh— nothing. No need to worry, love,” he dismisses, offering up a smile in an attempt to persuade you to drop the subject.
Steven starts heading towards the elevator, and you trail closely behind, shaking your head. “Hey, don’t lie to me. I know you, Steven. I know you well enough to know that something’s clearly wrong. I’m not going to let you sulk around and continue having a shitty day. What kind of a friend would I be? So, spill. Please? Pretty please?”
You bat your eyes at him, and he swears you’re doing that on purpose. Steven knows you well enough to know that you could get anything you want from him just by fluttering those beautiful eyes of yours. You have him wrapped around your finger, making it nearly impossible for him to deny you right then and there.
Honestly, he could use some advice from you. Maybe a laugh or two to cheer him up. You’re always so good with that. Too good that it’s almost magical. You always know exactly what to say to make him feel incredibly happy, even after suffering a quote-on-quote, shitty day.
A light ding of the bell and the automatic doors of the lift part open, the two of you shuffling inside wordlessly, and Steven hits the last number that’ll send you both to your shared floor.
On the ride up, that’s when he explains it all. The date with Dylan, the conversation he had overheard in the break room, and the fact that he’s still going out tonight. By the time you got to your flat, he had miserably told you everything, including his lack of experience.
“And, so that’s mainly it. Apologies for boring you with my situation; I must sound like a fool for even bringing this up—”
“Steven,” you interject before he can go on with his rambling. “Don’t be sorry. I-I can’t believe you never told me about this before.”
“You never asked,” Steven shrugs, his gaze falling to the floor below but returning to meet yours when you slip a warm hand into his. “Also, I… I was a bit too embarrassed to admit it if I have to be honest. I never found the right partner, and I didn’t want to go out there to find the first stranger who’s attracted to me and willing to— you know…”
He need not explain any further. Judging by the look of sorrow etched in your features, you quickly caught on to what he meant.
A soft sigh escapes your lips, and Steven’s sure he sees tears forming in the corner of your eyes. It’s not that you pitied him. You truly care for him and learning that his firsts have soured most of the positive feelings attached to physical intimacy shatters your heart.
“Hey, that’s nothing to be ashamed of, really. I promise you, you’re not the only person in the world who’s not eager to jump into bed with just anyone. Not everyone’s so casual about sex.”
Steven gives you a small wry smile, something that doesn’t reach his eyes.
As opposed to him, you were usually an open book when it comes to sex. He’s not unaware of your escapades. He’s either known about them directly from you or when he awkwardly runs into your one-night stands as they exit from your flat in the early morning hours.
Needless to say, he never judges you for this. You have your needs, just like he has his. The only difference is that you go out and seek a remedy while he takes care of things with his hand, albeit frustratingly.
“Hey, it’s endearing that you prefer to take things slow. God, I wish there were other men like you out there,” you chuckle lightly at the end, briefly cupping his cheek into your palm. “So, are you still going on that date?”
He hums meekly as the warmth of your hand leaves him. “I-I don’t know, should I? I confirmed with Dylan because I felt terrible if I backed out at the last minute.”
“Look, from what you told me, I think Dylan is a sweet lady, and she didn’t say anything bad about you. Plus, you left before she could respond. You don’t know if she agreed with Leslie or not, but my bet is that she didn’t.”
A pause. Steven ponders over it for a moment, mulling the possibility of you being right. In which case, in all the years he has known you, you’re almost always right. It’s pretty scary at times how accurate your intuition could be. Call it a superpower or a sixth sense, but whatever your gut tells you, he would usually believe it too.
“Okay,” Steven eventually nods with a breath, beginning to feel slightly enthused with the dinner this evening. “Maybe I overreacted a bit, yeah?”
“No, you’re good. It’s all good, just a big misunderstanding,” you assure him softly, and it’s all he needs to hear from you. “Alright, let me set my stuff down inside, and I’ll help you get ready for tonight. If I’m not mistaken, this is your first date in quite some time?”
His voice grows quiet once more. “Mmhmm, yep. First date in what— a year, perhaps? I’m not even sure I have fancy enough clothes to wear in an upscale restaurant. I should have thought of that way ahead, damn it.”
“Come on, now. I’m sure we can find something in your closet! How much time do we have?”
Steven glances at the watch hugging his wrist. “We’ve got around an hour and a half.”
“Perfect,” you beam brightly at him. “That’s enough time to make you look absolutely irresistible.”
- ☾-
After two or three laborious attempts, Steven’s neck-tie is still crooked. His blue dress shirt, blazer, and trousers are all wrinkly and smell like mothballs from being stored away for the longest time. The longer he had those clothes on, the more he thought how ridiculous he looked.
It took you and him nearly thirty minutes to go through his entire wardrobe, and this is the best outfit you could put together at a moment’s notice. The reflection in the mirror doesn’t lie, and bloody hell, this is starting to become a disaster. He isn’t even out of the door yet!
Maybe he should cancel now before his appearance is what makes him a fool out of himself.
“Steven? Are you done changing in there?” He hears you checking on him from outside of the bathroom. “Hellooo?”
An amused chortle tumbles out of Steven’s mouth. “Patience is a virtue, darling. But I’m done, coming out now…”
Through his observations, there are merely a handful of things that leave you speechless. One of which is the stars.
He particularly remembers one late night when you came over to his flat, excitingly taking him by the hand and dragging him to the nearest open window from the door.
For what seemed like seconds passing into hours, you both gazed in wondrous awe at the heavenly sight above. Trillions of white sparkling diamonds dot the inky canvas of the London sky. It was beautiful, so beautiful and breathtaking, and not a sound fell from your lips throughout the viewing. You had been too absorbed, too fascinated with the glittering stars, to utter a single word.
That very same awestruck face you made could be compared to how you’re staring at Steven right now, and he feels a gentle warmth spreading over his cheeks. The admiration gleaming in your eyes and the delicate curl of your lips makes his heart soar and his stomach light with butterflies. No one has ever looked at him the way, nothing even remotely close to it.
Steven thinks he heard the slight hitch in your throat, but before he could put a meaning to it, your lips were parting to speak.
“Whew… Dylan’s one lucky gal,” you whistle, flustering him even further. “Here, let me…”
He draws in a sharp intake of air as your nimble fingers straighten his collar and his tie, brows furrowing in deep concentration. Steven hopes you don’t notice how deeply fixated his eyes are on you or how he’s swallowing hard at the proximity of your bodies. You’re standing near enough for him to smell your lingering perfume, light and sweet with a subtle hint of floral notes.
Thoughtlessly, he licks his drying lips and then exhales your name in a soft breath, catching the glimmer in your eyes as your gaze flickers up to his.
Steven’s heart thrums wildly in the cage of his ribs, his mind locked in a daze, unable to think clearly of anything else besides you. Your bright smile, your intoxicating laugh, your gentle touch. The way you sweetly say his name and the way you make him happy without even trying.
How you’re the only person in his life that understands him, treats him like he’s worth every bit of kindness you’ve shown.
You, it’s always been you. From the moment you said “hello” to him and introduced yourself with the warmest of smiles, it has always been you.
You, the only one he has ever loved since the first woman who’d broken his heart— and the only one who has ever loved him back, though not in the way he dreamt of.
Falling for you, falling in love with you, is the one thing Steven has never told you before. The sole secret that may never get to see the light of day. Despite how close the two of you have grown, you’d never shown interest in him beyond friendship. Your love for him is strictly platonic, or at least, that’s what he’s led to believe.
Also, it’s not like Steven has any chance with you. He’s seen the men you’ve dated, the type you’re attracted to, and he’s nothing like them. Far from it, in actuality. He’s no match for them; you’re simply way out of his league.
So Steven didn’t dare to risk it— this perfect relationship you and he already have with each other.
He didn’t dare to risk losing you.
Therefore, he pushes these feelings aside, locks them away in the furthest depths of his mind, and pretends that they never existed, that he never entertained the thought.
Yet, it doesn’t mean it hurts less for Steven, seeing you in the arms of others, smiling in a way that makes his heart pang with disappointment. It’s a blissful agony, this pain that comes more often than it goes, and all he could do was bear the gnawing at his soul, hoping that he wouldn’t crack.
“You okay, Steven?” your honeyed voice lures him out of musings, and he stutters out a breath when you smooth your hands over his blazer.
“Y-Yeah,” he murmurs feebly. “I’m okay, just… nervous, I think. Haven’t gone on a date in a while, and I’m afraid I’ll screw things up.”
It isn’t a total lie that Steven tells you, but rather half the truth. Yes, he’s a little anxious about tonight, but most of his jitteriness is because of all these sudden thoughts he has of you. It’s as if your touch alone has brought back the sensations he has suppressed over the years. He tries to push them to the back of his head, ignoring how his heart is longing for you and only you.
It’s easier said than done.
“No, don’t say that. You’re not going to mess this up. Wanna know how I’m sure of that?” For a beat, you step aside to wet your hands at the sink behind him, returning to stand in front of him soon after to style his unruly dark curls. “Because you’re you, Steven. You’re the sweetest, smartest, and kindest man I’ve ever met. I don’t doubt for even a second that you’ll charm the hell out of Dylan so much; she’s going to want a second date right after tonight.”
Grinning, you slowly urge Steven to turn around so he can look at himself in the mirror. “That guy right there? He’s one of a kind. Every man and woman on this planet would be begging to have a chance with him, and I really hope you can see that.”
Biting the inside of his cheek, he stops himself from asking the question on the tip of his tongue.
What about you? Would you be begging for a chance to be with him too?
“Thank you,” Steven ultimately sighs, his arms wrapping around you in a tight embrace. “I– uh, I truly appreciate your help.”
“Anytime, Steven,” you whisper, kissing him softly on the cheek. “I want you to find happiness and love out there. You deserve it more than anyone.”
He deserves it.
He knows he does.
He craves it more than anything— to be happy and to be loved.
Solely by you.
Steven fidgets with his hands, his gaze drifting to the leather shoes he wears. No, it can’t be you. It won’t be you. No matter how much he wants it to be you, he must fully accept that it would likely never happen.
And to do that, he needs to start here. Right now, as his dinner with Dylan fast approaches.
But there still lies a problem.
“You’re overthinking again,” comes your remark, brows knitting a frown seeing the tension marring his face. “Talk to me, Steven. What’s on your mind?”
“Do you honestly think that me being so… inexperienced is something that she won’t mind at all? I only ask because, well— I’ve never even kissed anyone in almost… hell, I lost count of how long it’s been. Wait— should I kiss her at the end of the night?”
An interval of silence passes by before you reply to his query. “No, I don’t believe she won’t mind that. And to answer your other question, if the moment is right, go for it. But if not, or maybe you’re not comfortable enough, then don’t.”
“But what if it does feel right? What if she expects me to kiss her? I’m a little out of practice here and—”
“Then kiss me.”
Steven’s body freezes up. For a split second, he assumed that he had heard you wrong. That his brain was playing a cruel trick on him, making him hear words that were never actually spoken out loud. Words that he’d imagine leaving your lips one too many times.
But then you ask him once more— this instance slightly firmer yet still soft enough that the request could have been genuinely sincere in his ears.
“Kiss you? Wha— why for, darling?” His voice is trembling as he feigns strict reluctance, silently hoping you don’t take it as an offense.
“You say you’re out of practice, so let’s fix that. We have like what— ten minutes before you have to leave? If it does come down to kissing Dylan at some point tonight, then I want you to be somewhat prepared. That’s if you don’t mind, of course.”
In any other circumstance, Steven would have kissed you in a heartbeat. If only you gave him a chance.
A real chance, and not this.
It takes Steven every ounce of strength in his body to maintain his composure. He blinks a few times, standing there unmoved like a deer caught in headlights. Then, there’s a hand on his shoulder— your hand— and he notices how there’s suddenly barely any space between you and him.
“Kiss me, and I’ll tell you if there’s anything you need to work on.”
Swallowing thickly, Steven stammers out your name, his face flushing with heat. “No-no, we don’t have to. It’s totally fine, dear. I-I can manage on my own, I think.”
“Oh, come on,” you grouse. “Steven, you trust me, right?”
He nods his head in response.
“Then let me help you with this. Just look at this as a trial run. You kiss me, have a feel for what it’s like again since it’s been so long for you. When it comes time to kiss Dylan, whether that’d be tonight or hopefully on a different day, you won’t get as highly strung about it.”
Time’s ticking, and Steven’s deliberating your suggestion as if it were a life-or-death decision. This isn’t a good idea. How on earth could this quell the storm of feelings he has for you? Kissing you is both everything he ever wanted and the worst thing that could happen at that moment. He’s tempted and afraid simultaneously, and he can’t focus on what his logical self is trying to say.
Do it.
Don’t do it. Are you mad?
Do it, and you won’t have to panic if the opportunity presents itself.
Don’t do it. You’ll end up suffering at the fact that you’ll never get to kiss—
Do it, or it will be your biggest regret and—
Don’t do it. Don’t do it. Don’t— do it. Just do it.
Just this once, do it.
“Never mind, it’s okay if you don’t—”
Whatever words you had to say are stolen away from your mouth as Steven claims it with his. Eyes shut tight with his hands clasped on your shoulders, the kiss is slow and hesitant, barely skimming the surface of your lips. His angle as he kisses you is off; his neck is craned in an odd position that a kink begins to form. That, plus he’s quickly running out of air, becoming mildly lightheaded as he forgets one of the most important things there is in kissing— and that is to breathe.
But how could Steven remember how to when he’s kissing you?
“Steven,” you mumble against his lips, and he forcibly pulls himself away.
“Oh, dear god, that was awful for you, wasn’t it? I-I’m sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable in any way. Can we please forget—”
“Wait, no, it’s not that, Steven,” you express. “It wasn’t awful. I thought the kiss was nice, actually. Trust me, I’ve had worse kisses than that. Yours isn’t as bad as you think.”
That makes him smile. “I— uh, thank you. You saying that means a lot, really. Kind of reassuring, too. But, erm… what advice could you give me to, umm, be better at it?”
“Well, first thing’s first, I need you to relax a little more. I could feel how tense your body was while we were kissing.”
“Relax more, got it,” Steven agrees, writing a mental note as he steadies his rapidly beating heart. “What else?”
“Hmm… it’s much better if I show you, honestly. May I?”
Your fingers delicately reach for his hand resting on his side as he gives you a “yes” in a hushed tone. Smiling softly, you bring it to your face, pressing his palm against your warm cheek. “Hold me like this, okay?”
“Okay,” Steven sighs, waiting patiently for the following instruction.
“When you’re going in for the kiss, tilt your head a bit… a little more, yup, that’s it. Then, slowly lean in—”
Fluttering his eyes closed, his lips a hair’s breadth from yours now, breaths mingling together as your gentle voice guides him on what to do next.
“This is the part where you let instincts take over. Do whatever feels right. Just relax, and don’t forget to breathe through your nose. I’ll lead, and you follow. If you want to stop, and you can if you have to, then go ahead. Are you ready?”
“Ready,” Steven confirms, voice barely above a whisper.
And he waits. He waits, and he waits until finally, he senses you leaning in to close the tiniest gap, your plush lips pressing against his. Then, Steven’s kissing you again— this time, it’s much sweeter, more tender. More like how he pictured it would be. Your hand holds him by the back of his neck, pulling him in impossibly closer. Your noses brush against each other, and he swears he could feel you smiling into the kiss.
Eventually, your lips start to move against him. Slow at first, as if testing the waters. I’ll lead, and you follow, Steven hears your words echoing from earlier, and he does as he’s told. His lips mold into yours, and he moves in sync with them as much as he can while inhaling softly through the kiss.
Breathe. Don’t forget to breathe.
But, oh, how you smell so lovely. So sweet and so divine.
Steven would remain this way forever…
If only he could. If only he wasn’t so afraid.
He commits this all to memory; the softness of your lips, the gentleness of your touch, the small gasps escaping the back of your throat. Things that Steven would probably not experience again with you. Not when any of this isn’t truly real.
But, for now, he allows himself to melt under your touch. Letting every square inch of his body dissolve into yours as he pretends that you’re his, even if it’s only for the shortest time.
Because at least he’ll have this— the idea of what could be.
The idea of the paradise he’d wished for each night.
When you part minutes after, Steven’s out of breath, and so are you. He feels you slipping away from him, and it’s like he’s about to wake up from a dream. But as his eyes blink open, he meets your tender gaze and the smile playing on your slightly swollen lips.
You’re real; this is real. He had just kissed you, over and over again— and it had all happened in reality, not in the confines of his mind.
“H-How was that?” He breaks the calm stillness of the room.
Your smile only grows. “It’s perfect, Steven. That was… perfect.”
“Good,” he murmurs proudly. “That’s good to know. Thank you.”
“As I said before, Dylan’s one lucky gal.”
Dylan. Steven’s heart sinks at the name.
“Yeah, I guess so,” he says, shoulders slumping as he hides the brokenness of his tone. “I… uh. I should better get going now. I was thinking of buying her some flowers and chocolates to surprise her.”
“Smart move, Steven Grant,” you comment, patting him softly on his chest. “She’s going to love that, I’m sure of it.”
The next couple of minutes is almost a blur to Steven. He doesn’t recall saying much as you gave his hair and outfit one last check before he escorted you out of his flat and down to yours. With a kiss on the cheek and a final bid of good luck, you close the door when he starts ambling to the elevator at the end of the hall.
As Steven waits for the lift to arrive, the warmth of your lips remains lingering on his, his entire body still buzzing with electricity.
But now he’s left uncertain whether he regrets kissing you or not. It felt wrong. Something in Steven felt like what he had done was wrong. That he should have never let it happen, that he should have never let it get that far.
You would have understood if he had declined your help, but he didn’t. He didn’t say no, and he kissed you.
To you, that kiss meant nothing.
But to Steven, it meant everything.
Surely, his life can’t get more fucked up than this, right?

heyy how do you think the relation between the twins and kamiki would be if ai never died and kamiki came to met them like a normal person? I mean we are unsure how kamiki feels about twins but how would twins feel about kamiki if everything was normal? Also how ai would be during the whole scenario? I always love to hear your thoughts on random ass things that come in my brain lol
Honestly speculating anything about Kamiki rn is So Fraught because we had that whole "sorry you thought i was /srs when rly i was /jk" reveal with the mangakas BUT for the purposes of this ask and because it's more fun that way, I'm gonna just assume the teen Hikaru we see in 15YL is like… mostly close enough to some kind of reality.
I think the twins would start off kind of hostile towards Hikaru, in a sort of quasi protective way. Like omg, we have to protect Ai from this sleezeball guy!!! totally ignoring the actual reality of the dynamic between them… I think Aqua would have a lot of trouble taking him remotely seriously as a father figure just because of Hikaru's age compared to Gorou's but I do also think that because baby Aqua has so much more of Gorou's influence in his brain, he would start to pick up pretty quick that like… uh, is this kid alright??? hello??? & eventually come to feel a similar sense of responsibility for him as he does for Ai and Ruby.
As for Ruby, she's definitely way more hostile for a lot longer and goes out of her way to commit Baby Crimes in an effort to just make his life miserable and drive him away. But he gradually wins her over just by being patient with her and tbh I think Ruby would be similarly weak to someone being A Dad for her as she was for Ai being her mom given just how completely she was abandoned by her parents and she ends up accepting him in a tsundere sort of way.
As for Ai… I think she has some surprisingly complicated emotions about it!
While she reaches out to him for the good of the kids, I think Ai would actually have some fears of the twins preferring Hikaru to her or Hikaru's presence somehow otherwise upsetting the dynamic of her relationship with the twins. But then of course, she feels guilty for having those feelings and ends up negatively comparing herself to her mom, who she absolutely does not want to be like, and bottles them all up which means it just gets worse and worse and worse… <3 avoidant little idiot
I think she would eventually have a heart to heart with maybe Saitou and Miyako about it who help her to have a sort of of come to jesus moment about how even if the kids DO end up loving Hikaru, Ai is always going to be their one and only mom and nobody can ever really replace her. I think it would take her a lot of time to feel properly secure just because her history of abandonment by people who are supposed to love her is so gutwrenchingly consistent but she does eventually come around.
I think they'd be a pretty cute family unit! I don't think Ai and Hikaru would ever get back together romantically in this setup but the idea of them being a platonic co-parenting team is really good…

Tumblr media
it wouldn’t be fair to write for the greens only, especially since i am a rhaenyra loyalist. so have these daemon general and romantic headcanons.
please keep in mind this is my own interpretation. these headcanons are just that. headcanons. if you don’t like them, just don’t read them and ignore this post.
Tumblr media
daemon doesn’t have many hobbies outside of combat and just resting. he enjoys doing nothing, just laying in bed or on the sands of dragonstone or in the grass in the godswood.
he used to get really antsy doing nothing, but after being at war for so long in the stepstones, he’s learned to appreciate the more mundane aspects of life.
one of the many hobbies he picked up unexpectedly was weaving. it was repetitive, and sure, his fingers got sore and his eyes strained. by the end result always looked nice. he was very good with color theory and patterns.
daemon much prefers to eat meat over fruit and vegetables. but one of the few fruits he will eat are sour cherries. he loves sour cherries and will eat them whenever he has the chance. it was also the first thing he ate when he came back from the stepstones.
he also likes raspberries and oftentimes, you will find him teasing you with that flirtatious look of his as he pushes a berry into his mouth. when you think about it, it’s a little weird. but in the moment, it’s very charming.
daemon cares very much about his hair. he puts a lot of effort into it looking amazing. (he would totally be in a l’oreal commercial in the modern day) washing, oils, drying, brushing, braiding his own hair. cutting it signified his rebirth and in a way, it was his way of mourning his new position as the king of the narrow sea. but he had more important things to attend to, namely returning to his brother.
he doesn’t like to admit being vulnerable and caring about others. he’s rather closed off in that way. but he shows it in small ways that only his loved ones would recognize.
very much appreciates a good loaf of bread. and honestly he would do anything for a good loaf.
daemon also likes to swim in his spare time. he finds the sea calming and lets himself get swept away amongst the waves. everything just fades away as he sinks below the water, looking up at the sun as it peers through the crystal clear water.
Tumblr media
daemon gives love through quality time. the man is quite busy and has a lot of things to do. so for him to go out of his way to talk to you, spend time with you, means a lot. it means he cares about you to be spending time with you. he’s content with doing nothing while with you or even the two of you doing your own thing in the same room.
he receives love through quality time and words of affirmation. he was always the least favorable son growing up and he was often told this. so he needs your reassurance through words of affirmation. it gives him such a warm feeling in his body when you tell him the smallest things. on top of that, he loves it when you spend time with him. it’s proof that you care for him as much as he cares for you.
daemon’s attachment type is avoidant. he is quite aloof when it comes to connections and can be impulsive. but when the cloud settles, he realizes just how empty he really feels. he’s been aiming to work better on that sense of loneliness that has been gnawing at him for decades.
Tumblr media
daemon doesn’t let anyone touch his hair. well, except for you. he will let you touch his hair. play with it, braid it, put it in a ponytail or one of those stylish hairstyles popular in king’s landing. he looks very pretty and he likes it when you call him pretty.
it’s probably not a surprise then that your favorite part of daemon is his hair. you like playing with it and styling it, love how soft it feels, enjoy rubbing oils into his hair so it smells good. you particularly like the floral scented oils to rub into his hair.
daemon’s kisses are surprisingly tender. he doesn’t kiss much. fuck? yes. sex is a common thing he does. but kissing? that is far too intimate for him. so when he kisses you, he savors it. it lasts for a long time and it’s gentle. he hates pulling away, so you’re the one who has to do it instead.
daemon loves your shoulders. there is very little explanation as to why. but he just loves how his hands fit so perfectly on them and giving you a nice massage after a stressful week. he loves peppering kisses on your shoulders as you sit together. and he absolutely loves gently removing your top to reveal your shoulder so he can kiss it.
“what would i do for daemon? what would i not do is what you should be asking. and what i certainly will not do is tell you where he is. i’d rather die than betray him.”

Year 3
"Hey Matty, I'm running a bit late. You remember how I said I was craving pasta?"
Matt was sitting at his desk a couple of hours past the time he usually left the office, braille papers spread across the surface for a case he'd been working overtime on with Foggy. He was rolling his sleeves up to his elbows as he heard your adorable laugh through his phone, a small smile slipping onto his face at the sound of it.
"Funny story actually. I was leaving work and I passed that diner again and don't hate me, but I needed the bacon cheeseburger. I know, I know. 'You’re eating another bacon cheeseburger again,  baby?' you ask. Yes, Matty, my love. It’s called being pregnant. But don’t worry, I grabbed you that chicken caesar wrap you like there this time!"
He smiled wider at the sound of your voice trying to pacify him in the message. It was the third time that week you'd grabbed dinner for the both of you at that diner because neither of you had had time to cook. Work had been keeping both of you busy that week and you had offered to pick something up whenever you had gotten out of the office knowing how much he had been stressed that week.
"Blame your daughter. She clearly has a thing for bacon cheeseburgers. …and cheesecake. I may have grabbed cheesecake…"
A faint chuckle left him. You'd surprisingly shared the cheesecake with him that night.
"Okay, well I'm on my way back–oh, sorry!–and I should be home just after you get back. So I'll see you in a little bit my wonderful, handsome, overworked husband who is totally okay with another dinner from Graham's Diner again! I love you, Matty!"
The automated voice of Matt's voicemail came on next, reading out the timestamp of the next saved message on his phone. A faint smile still lingered across his mouth as he rested his elbows on his desk, his focus no longer on his work.
"Mr. Ellsworth!"
Matt laughed lightly at the sound of your over-excited voice once again coming through the speaker of his phone.
"Oh my God that was bothering me all day! The professor I was telling you about last night, his name was Mr. Ellsworth. I swear that man spent a few three hour lectures talking about just a single word from a sentence out of an entire book. I swear the guy next to me got a good nap in once every week just because of that class. Okay, anyway, not the reason I called."
Leaning further forward on his desk, Matt rested his chin in his hands. He closed his eyes and listened to your animated voice as you spoke. You always had been so lively, certainly a presence one could hardly ignore. And if he focused hard enough, sometimes he could listen to your old messages and trick himself into thinking he would come home from work to find you there, listening to something on the television while you finished making dinner. Maybe with a glass of orange juice for yourself–a craving you’d often had–and a beer ready for him. And then, after he had changed in the bedroom, he'd come out and wrap you in a hug, his hands cradling your baby bump as you made this sweet contented noise low in your throat, too quiet for anyone else to hear but him. And then you would turn in his arms and pull him into a kiss before asking how his day was. The two of you would enjoy dinner together before he would clean up while you rested your sore feet on the couch. Usually sex followed shortly after–pregnancy had made you quite insatiable in the bedroom, a perk Matt had certainly enjoyed.
"So I just stopped by to see Maggie on my way home. I wanted to have her over Friday night, remember? She said she’s looking forward to it and that you have the world’s greatest wife, but I’m guessing you already knew that.”
His smile widened, an ear turning closer to the speaker on his phone. Yes, he certainly had already known that.
“So don’t make Friday night Josie plans with Fog and everyone this week, okay? Just wanted to let you know! And also–” your voice dropped into something low and sultry, the tone of it raising the hair along Matt’s forearms even now, “–there’s an appetizer waiting for you in the bedroom when you get home. Hint: it’s me. See you real soon, Matty.”
Swallowing hard, he heard the automated voice once again abruptly cut through his office, the sound breaking through his efforts to pretend you were still here. It began reading off the next timestamp of the following saved message, Matt’s eyes opening as he frowned. If only he had more than your voice.
“Rise and shine sleepy Devil of mine! I ran out to grab coffee and pastries because you looked like you could use some cheering up after the night out you had last night. And apparently I was right, because somehow I managed to slip out of bed without waking you. Which is…honestly impressive. I’m impressed with myself. I’ve never managed that before. But I’ll be back soon–”
Three hesitant knocks came on Matt’s door and he jumped in his desk chair, realizing quickly that Foggy was now standing just inside his office. Matt reached out and picked up his phone, immediately saving the message before shifting his focus to Foggy who was tentatively making his way over to Matt’s desk.
“Hey, just checking in, man,” Foggy said. “It’s starting to get late so I was going to call it a night. Maybe you should, too.”
“Uh, yeah, I’ll just uh, gather my things,” Matt replied, forcing a smile onto his face. When Foggy didn’t move, he quickly added on, “You don’t have to wait for me, Fog. We both know I’ll get home safe.”
“Yeah, I know that,” Foggy said.
Matt began gathering up the scattered papers, but he was aware of the fact that Foggy was still standing there, adjusting the strap of his briefcase on his shoulder. Straightening the stack of papers he’d collected, he focused back on Foggy, raising his brows.
“Something else?” he asked.
“You were listening to her voicemails again,” Foggy pointed out.
Matt’s dark brows drew together, his hands gripping the stack of paper tighter. “Yes,” he answered.
“Don’t you think maybe you…shouldn’t?” Foggy asked him nervously.
Matt’s head tilted to the side, his senses scrutinizing his friend. He could hear the sudden uptick in Foggy’s heart, the increase in his body temperature, and he noted the way Foggy was now drumming his fingers nervously along the leather strap of his briefcase.
“Why?” Matt asked stiffly. “It’s all I really have left of her.”
“It’s just–it’s been almost three years, Matt,” Foggy said slowly. “Don’t you think maybe you should try to move forward? Try to date again?”
Slowly, Matt lowered the stack of papers back down to his desk. “She was my wife, Foggy. She still is,” he told him, a bitter edge to his words.
“But don’t you want to be happy again, man?” Foggy pressed, taking another step closer to his desk. “I mean, Matt, you’re like a shell of yourself. Ever since she disappeared. And I know I can’t possibly understand how you’re feeling and what you’re going through, but you’re just sitting and soaking in that pain and misery, man. Just marinating in it. Still listening to her old messages just to hear her voice. When are you going to try to live your life again? How long are you going to wait for her?”
Matt’s tongue slipped out between his lips, his focus shifting down towards his desk. Something sharp twisted in his chest at his best friend’s words. He knew he’d been tormenting himself over the past few years, still clinging to your small presence in his life in whatever way he could. Your clothes were still in his closet and taking up the left side of his dresser. That storage bin of baby items was still shoved in the left hand corner of his closet just underneath your blouses and skirts. He still bought your favorite coffee just so his apartment smelled like it always used to in the mornings whenever he brewed it now. And yes, he still listened to the six voicemails on his phone that he had of you. He wished he had more.
“I don’t know,” Matt whispered, the familiar threat of tears stinging at his eyes. “I don’t know, Foggy.”
“It’s not healthy, Matt,” Foggy said gently. “What you’re doing to yourself, it’s not healthy. You need to grieve and move forward. Move on with your life.”
“I–I don’t know if I can,” he confessed.
“You’ve never tried,” Foggy pointed out. “Maybe you should.”
Matt could feel his lips beginning to tremble at the thought of moving on. Of putting both of you in his past. Just like so many others before you he’d had to grieve the loss of, now he was supposed to grieve for both of you? Accept that you were…really gone? Never coming back?
“I don’t mean you need to go on a date this week or even this month,” Foggy continued carefully. “I know you’re not quite there yet. But maybe you should try to stop listening to her messages? Maybe…get rid of the television you bought only for her? Take down the wedding photos? Because even if you can’t see them, I know you know they’re there. At least put them in a drawer or your closet.”
Matt exhaled a trembling breath, his mouth feeling like it was going dry. Was it really time for him to try to move forward? Or at least consider the idea of it? The thought of that had a sick feeling rolling in his gut.
“Matt?” Foggy asked hesitantly. “You alright?”
He cleared his throat a couple of times, his hand reaching out and finding his glasses on his desk. “Yeah, Fog, I’m fine,” he said, pulling the glasses on. “I’ll uh, I’ll give it some thought.”
“Alright, buddy,” Foggy replied, taking a step back. “I’m going to get back before Marci wonders what’s taking so long. Make sure you get some rest, we have that meeting at eight sharp tomorrow morning, okay?”
Matt gave a stiff nod, a tight smile sliding across his face. As he listened to Foggy turn to leave, he couldn’t help but wonder if he had a point. It wasn’t healthy what he was doing to himself day after day, year after year. Maybe he did need to consider moving forward. But even just the thought of that had a few tears trailing down his cheeks.

Idk if ur comfy with it but could we maybe get yan!viktor x reader x yan!five BUT it’s poly yanderes? Or if ur not comfy with five/viktor they’re just sharing reader platonically, but they’re still really close.
I just think it makes sense since viktor and five are kind of the two Hargreeves who get along and seem to like each other the best (and there has been some shippy implications esp with Aidan himself stating that he doesn’t view them as entirely platonic)
Viktor is def a v understated Yandere and I think he doesn’t really engage in a lot of Yandere behavior himself asides from maybe some stalking so I think where he shines as a Yandere is his complacency or cooperation with another, more severe Yandere— aka Five
Because Viktor, of course, would never dream of kidnapping you, but if Five is doing it— well, Viktor is never going to go against Five.
Esp since in a scenario with a Yandere Five some of his Yandere-ness probably effects how he interacts with other people he cares about— which is mostly Viktor, so in that sense Viktor is sort of a darling himself.
Viktor can really gain the trust and affection of the darling easily because the darling views Viktor as more of a fellow victim than a perpetrator, even if Viktor is actively cooperating with Five. It can lead to a sort of bad cop/good cop dynamic where Viktor slowly breaks down readers walls and feeds back information to Five.
And Five, who of course loves Viktor as well as reader, isn’t jealous because he wants reader to love Viktor too, and because this will eventually lead to reader learning to love him.
Again, totally fine if it’s platonic, I just want to have them both share darling. Yanderes are a lot scarier when they work together!!!
Yandere!Five x Reader x Yandere!Viktor
Tumblr media
interesting request I must say, I really like the idea of Five and Viktor work as a team to get what they want. okay so I want to make a few warnings. I was very interested in your idea, I like it, but I want to add something from myself. I hope you don't mind? great, so Five&Reader& Viktor here are the same age (physically). I'm not the best with adding warnings but I will try to make them very accurate.
Viktor, Five and Reader in their 20s.
warnings: yandere/dark themes, kidnaping, some Five x Viktor mentions(?), really sweet Viktor but he gets intimidating in one part, really scary guy Five, angst, no happy ending (for reader at least), mention of pills/drugs, light references to past traumas, everything here is done against reader`s will, controlling Five, Five can be abusive towards reader.
I don't know how you managed to get the attention of these two...But good luck.
Relationships with Five and Viktor are like a rollercoaster ride. Today, these two can be such a sweethearts with you and tomorrow, Five can find any reason just so you can be punished, while Viktor will try his best to convince him not to do this.
You quickly shook your head, refusing the food Five offered to you. He sat across from you, taking a few pieces of food on fork before presenting it to you. You kept your mouth shut, holding on tightly to the edge of the table in an attempt to push back as far away from it as possible before Five grabbed your hand, holding you tightly in your seat.
“Come on, I've been cooking this damn food since morning, have a little respect-” he frowns, pressing the fork closer to your lips, but you were stubborn and only whimpered softly.
Viktor was on your other side, holding a plate of food, helping 5 to feed you. He notices Five's eye twitching in irritation and Vik tried to lighten up the mood.
“Please, darling, have a bite, it's really delicious,” Viktor smiles sweetly, hoping you'll listen, but instead you ignore him, pushing Five's hand away from you.
Viktor twitches slightly in surprise and his attention is quickly focused on Number Five, waiting for his reaction. A small sigh comes from Five and he closes his eyes for a moment, mentally counting to 10.
“Well that was pretty rude,” he says surprisingly calmly, until he suddenly grabs your arm, dragging you out of the room.
Viktor quickly gets up right behind you, clearly nervous but still trying to stop 5 from doing what he's about to do. He stands in front of Five, blocking his path, which causes a disapproving reaction from the other man.
“Stay out of this,” he says sternly, narrowing his eyes.
“Five, stop, you're hurting them,” Viktor shakes his head, standing still and Five almost rolls his eyes at this behavior, obviously not happy with the fact that situation already took for them longer than it has to be.
Blink, and Five, still dragging you with himself, now appears a few steps away from Viktor. 7 turns around immediately, looking offended and about to protest again, until Five interrupts him, pushing you into the room and locking you up. After a moment, he turns around, walking past Viktor.
“I did what I had to,” 5 patted him gently on the shoulder, sighing tiredly. “Come on, Vik, let's have a drink.”
I actually agree with what you say that Viktor is too gentle and kind to you, he is partly the hostage of this situation, but if you really piss off Viktor by acting like Leonard, then oh, poor you. Viktor won't kill you, no, but this man is unpredictable. He can accidentally hurt you, for example, like with Allison, or he will might try to act intimidating as with Marcus. Trust me, Viktor is not as innocent as you might think.
If you make Viktor angry, it will be extremely difficult for you to calm him down. It can only stop in two cases. 1) You will be so scared that you will find protection in hands of Number Five. 2) Viktor hurt you and only then he realize how far he has gone.
Five will be very surprised by your behavior, given that before the roles were reversed, when Five was angry at you, you always hid behind Viktor`s back. But right now...Well, if you deserve punishment - Five won`t save you.
You're shaking like a leaf, hands holding on dear life at man's jacket, as if you'd probably die if you let go. Your breathing is unstable and you try to make your figure as small as possible, wanted to hide and become invisible. Tears form in your eyes and Five at first frowns, raising an eyebrow at your behavior.
“What did you do this time?” he asks, tilting his head.
You swallow hard before telling the reason for your fight with Viktor. Five remains silent for a while as he just looks at you, listening to the whole story, then he sighs heavily, clearly tired. Five wanted to spend this day without any troubles, rest and relax, and not become a third party in conflict.
“Your lucky that I love you too much,” he grumbles, putting his hand on your head and gently, almost reassuringly petting you.
You nod and hold onto him tighter when you hear footsteps outside the door before Viktor enters. His face doesn't show anger, more like disappointment that you see some kind of monster in him. Viktor is not a bad guy, he just wants to talk. He's sorry if you were afraid of his outburst, he didn't want to hurt you, but you should understand him too, you should have learned all the rules a long time ago after all this time you spent with them. Viktor's eyes widen slightly as he sees you trembling and almost crying in Five's arms and it hurts him so much to see that, knowing that he's the reason of it. His attention then shifts to Five, who looked like he was expecting an explanation from his expression.
“I'm really sorry-” Viktor says, taking a step towards you and your reaction was to instantly hide behind Number Five with your head down.
Words stuck in Viktor's throat and he doesn't know what to say at all, just looks at Five, begging for help with this. It's so unfair, he thinks, that once again people don't trust him and Viktor's heart hurts, like he's back in cage that Reginald built for him. Five placed a hand on your shoulder, gently pushing you forward so you could get closer to Viktor and you whimpered softly, resisting weakly. Eventually, you are back next to him and you notice 5 leaning slightly towards you.
“Come on, give him a second chance, honey,” he says calmly, but it sounds more like a demand than a request.
Knowing Five, you couldn't say no to him, because dealing with two angry kidnappers meant twice as much trouble, so you finally looked at Viktor, who was waiting for your decision. You hesitantly took a few steps towards him and wrapped your arms around his waist, which causes a sigh of relief from V. Viktor hugs you back, resting his chin on your shoulder as he smiled slightly at Five, silently thanking him for his help.
But I have another little scenario, but it's not really nice and happy for you. As I said, Five may not help you if you beg him for it. You can cry into his chest, promise him that now you will be obedient, but he will only shake his head, not changing his mind about the situation in any way. He pats you on the head and goes back to his business, like reading some newspaper or drinking coffee, looking calm and relaxed, despite the fact that you are ready to burst into tears right in front of him. “You know the rules, sweetheart,” he says without looking up from his reading. “But I am not your helper in this, here you are on your own.”
As for the rules, I think it would be something like: “don't mention Reginald Hargreeves in this house”, “talk about Delores either well or don`t mention here at all”, “don't talk about Leonard” and most importantly “respect the past traumas of 5 and 7". I think some of these points would have been made by either Viktor or Five, but for example Viktor would tell you about Delores and Five would tell you about incident with Leonard. The rest of the rules you could come up with yourself, given that it's not so hard to guess by noticing their reaction, so you have adapted to this and understand when it needs to be silent.
Viktor and Five get along very well and you can tell by the way they treat each other. You may be some random person that the two fell in love with, and you probably don't know much about the Hargreeves childhood, other than that they were members of the Umbrella Academy and were bought by Reginald, who was also a pretty shitty person at all when it came to kids. When you hurt 5 or 7, with your words, Five will be clearly angry, he might punish you if you did something really bad, but at some point he will stop and just leave you, coming to Viktor to calm down and talk about it. Viktor often acts as the one who helps you and 5 make up and you should be very grateful that in your life, there is Viktor, otherwise everything would be worse.
I love writing about 5 as someone with anger control issues, but that's kind of not true. Five is pretty good at it, he can stay sane and cold when he needs to. He is patient with Viktor and doesn't snap back when Viktor gets stubborn and doesn't listen to him. He tolerates when Luther or Allison accuse him of being the cause of all the trouble. And now you are part of the Number Five`s family and he is ready to do anything for you, but know that each person has his own limits.
If you're part of the Hargreeves too, then I imagine you can be very close at 5 and 7 since childhood. You may be the second only person in Viktor's life who made his time at the Academy a little brighter. For Five, you can play the same role as Viktor , but unlike Viktor, your abilities are not kept in secret, you are strong and can stand up for yourself and for Viktor too in case of emergency, so Five, before, didn`t saw you as weak and fragile, therefore less thought about the fact that you need his protection. I see 5 as a child as the current Sparrow Ben, hungry for praise and recognition but more rebellious than submissive, 5 is really motivated to get what he wants. 5 spent most of his time at the Academy practicing trying to get better, his room is empty unlike yours or Viktor's, but I believe you and Viktor would fix that. As you get older and the two work together, 5 will begin to see your abilities as a hindrance, since obviously you'll use them to harm Viktor or Five, worse yet, your abilities can be dangerous for you as well. It's honestly hard to imagine what Five would do in this case, he doesn't want to use the same pills that Reginald was giving Viktor, it's a traumatic experience for Viktor and he doesn't want to make him go through the same thing twice, but Five used to be in the role of bad guy when he just wants to save his loved ones. Viktor also doesn't want to see you locked up, you don't deserve it, you remind him of his young self, in the same gray soundproof cage. This seriously hurts him. But Five knows that he need to be the one who makes the toughest decisions. Five believes that Viktor will forgive him, just as you forgive him. Not like you  have any other choice.
If Five notices that Viktor can become a serious problem, like how soft he becomes towards you, practically a few steps away to help you escape, then 5 will have to warn him. You will probably feel a little sorry for Viktor, well, he is also guilty, he is one of the reason why you in this situation, but if you choose between 5 and 7, then you would with no doubt choose 7, because you are more likely to get along with him. Seeing that Viktor and you are in a similar situation makes you warm up to him and it`s on hand for this two.
Viktor rubs his eyes, still half asleep as he walks into the kitchen. He smells  something delicious and it makes him smile slightly as he opens the door, just to find Five preparing breakfast.
“You're pretty early today, Five,” Viktor says, moving closer to Five to make some coffee.
“Someone has to look after your lazy asses,” Five replies sarcastically as he continues to chop up the food.
This comment makes Viktor chuckle softly and take a cup of coffee and sit down at the table, silently watching Five. The silence between the two was pleasant and calm, without making it uncomfortable. Viktor relaxes in his seat and wonders how the day will go. You've been so nice lately and it made Viktor smile shyly to himself just by remembering it. It was still hard for you to trust 5 and Viktor tried so hard that you could love Five as much as he did. When Five was busy with work, Viktor would spend all his free time with you, talking about different things, until at one point the dialogue would turn to the fact that Viktor mentioned how hard 5 works for you, that he saved the world twice in order to be able to live peaceful life together. Viktor blinks several times, focusing again on Five, who is now carefully grinding the pill into a powder, then pouring it onto the plate of food.
“Five, please don't tell me it is…” Viktor freezes in place in disbelief.
“I`m not going to lie to you, but it is,” Five nods, still focused on work. “And it's different. This one will actually help this time.”
Viktor looks at Five with shock, right now he feels a lot of emotions and it`s makes him struggle not to break. He feels angry when he finds out that 5 kept it in secret from him, that he is doing this to you, then he feels a slight fear, afraid that one day, Five will try to use it on Viktor himself. He feels so bad, as if there is not enough air in his chest, and noticing Viktor's suspicious silence, Five finally approaches him, placing a plate in front of 7, he puts his hands on Viktor's shoulders, leaning down slightly.
“It'll be all right, I promise, leave the hardest part to me,” 5 smiles, trying to calm the other man in front of him. “Now why don’t you take this plate and wake our little sleepyhead?”

More Bodie Hcs before I go to sleep at 1 am
He'd totally have at least one piercing in a no-Furnace world,
Got into gang shit about a year or so before the Summer, his neighborhood was a really rough one and it wasn't uncommon for kids to turn to crime.
He's had a total of 4 cellmates, one got taken by the bloodwatch, one got an infection from a knife fight, and one went down after pissing off a Leopard. The last one survived long enough to hear the speech but Bodie didn't know if he was dead or not when they got the elevator working.
Def one of the only things that really kept him going for 5 years was his brother. Without him, Bodie would have probably jumped years ago.
He and Oli don't have so much a rapport as an understanding. Bodie gets his cornrows redone every so often, Oli lets him hang around the cell now and then even if he's not getting a cut. They have strong-silent dynamic even though neither of them would mind talking.
Sleeps on his left side. It's not great for his back, but neither is the hard labor. He's out of fucks to give.
The big scar across his face is from the Summer. He got another facial scar in prison, during one of the bigger brawls with the Leopards, but that one is smaller and runs on his cheek. He's got the standard bunch from fights and accidents built up on his arms and legs though.
Unless he's in the middle of a fight or about to completely fly off the hook (like for the speech) he's really calm. His default state is comparatively unfazed by almost everything and its never really clear how much of that is his easy-going nature and how much is just him being really good at pushing shit down and ignoring it.
I maintain that he takes good care of his teeth (as good as you can in hell) and that's why he canonically has "teeth like diamonds" even after five years. Kid's not super vain, but he knows that looking a little less like shit carries it's own rep, the kind that means you get into a lot of fights as a Skull lieutenant and still walk away with your jaw intact. Not to mention that cavities and tooth infections suck ass on the surface world, much less in prison where your options are to get the tooth knocked out by an ally or let the wheezers take you.
Never really got over Ambrose's death. He's not shedding tears for a killing so much as angry at the death of another OG, and in such a shitty way. Def didn't say anything to Kevin but there's a reason that everyone who'd been there before Kevin watched Bodie and hung back when the confrontation with Gary happened.
No Furnace au he'd have cargo pants just for the pockets. Good for keeping your hands hidden, an extra shank, a small rock to fidget with, all sorts of stuff.
He's been in the Hole twice, once for a day and once for three. He promised himself if he'd ever end up there again to not live through it.
He wouldn't be a major nerd in the au, but he has one or two interests that he's memorized all available trivia on and would play chess with Zee. In between the snark, the insults, and the death threats, they get along surprisingly well and it's a fun enough game to play.

hey could u do a headcanon of th x sister!reader where she comes home with a hickey? thx love!
Pairing: Tom Holland x sister!reader
Genre: headcanon
Warnings:  minor swearing, hickeys, talks of kissing, sibling teasing
Summary: when you come home from school one day, your older brothers spot something on your neck
A/N I did not clearly state the reader’s significant other’s gender, so you can imagine it with whoever you want
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So, when you first noticed the dark purple mark on your neck, you immediately started freaking out
The first thing you did was call your significant other and tell them off
Once they’re aware how bad they fucked up, you hung up and started trying to hide it
You covered it in LAYERS of makeup, but it was still noticeable, so you decided you’d wear a hoodie
Luckily wearing a hoodie isn’t too suspicious because it’s fall, but it’s still decently warm outside
Everything was fine until a few days later you decided to wear a short sleeved shirt because it was incredibly hot, and besides, it had healed a LOT, so you thought you could get away with only putting makeup on it
Well you were wrong
Nikki noticed it almost immediately, since women are a lot more observant than boys
She just smirked at you and wiggled her eyebrows
Paddy was next, and he honestly didn’t seem to care
He definitely looked surprised when he first saw it, but he didn’t say anything
After having two people notice it, you decided that you should probably go put on another top that will actually cover it
Just as you started to go up to your room, you heard the front door open, which means Tom and Harry had just gotten home
You sped up the stairs as fast as you could, but before you reached your room, Tom hollered at you
“Why are you running away from us, we just got home?”
You just nervously laughed and slowly walked towards him while fixing your shirt to try and hide the hickey
He ran up to you and pulled you into a hug, and you hesitantly returned it
Tom noticed your actions, and just as he was about to question you, he saw it
He saw the dark purple hickey on his “baby” sister’s neck
Before he said anything, you noticed the change in his presence, and you realized that he saw it, and you suddenly became so insecure, and you just felt so small
Tom however, was confused
He had no idea how a hickey could’ve gotten on his little sister’s neck
So, instead of ignoring it like your mum and your other brother, he immediately went into interrogation mode
“What is that?” “Where did it come from?” “Who gave it to you?” “Why would you let that happen?” and so on
You didn’t feel like answering all his questions, so you just shrugged and walked away
Usually, Tom would’ve followed you, but he didn’t this time
He just went and found your mum, probably to snitch
You were so grateful that Nikki already knew, and that helped calm you down a lot
Deciding you need to get your mind off of this, you put your headphones in to turn on some music and started on some homework
Tom did, in fact, end up tattling to your guys’ mum, and she just told him that it’s none of his business and told him to leave you alone and forget about it (We love queen Nikki)
And he surprisingly did try to forget about it, but he couldn’t, and once you had come back into the room for dinner, you noticed that it was still bugging him
You debated what to do for a little bit, but you ultimately decided that you would just toughen up and tell him what he wants to know
So you did
And he actually wasn’t mad at all, which totally surprised you
Instead he just seemed content at the fact that all his questions had answers
After you finished talking, he patted your back and walked away
But the biggest surprise of the day was what he said as he walked away
“Good for you, sis. You’re growing up”
A Simple Housewife
Relationship: Mob!Bucky Barnes x Reader AU Warnings: non-graphic violence, angst Summary: Mob!AU - A new member starts getting too friendly with you one night, forcing Bucky to show a side of himself you’ve never seen before. And possibly never want to see again.  A/N: in my list of favorite AUs right under soulmate!au is mob!au........idk why i can’t explain it but I love it it’s such good content. and i realized well i can contribute to it as a genre so here I am lmao. (also, for reference, the work contains college-age peter parker - i aged him up fyi)
Masterlist
You liked how you two worked as a team. Bucky liked to hold meetings at your home, and you liked to host them. It was an unspoken agreement every time he’d come home and rattle off who was going to be around the next night.
These instances always sent you into a frenzy, but a good kind of frenzy. It gave you something to do. While a simple housewife per your husband’s request, these events meant you could fill your days planning menus, table settings, wine pairings, grocery shopping… It was therapeutic in some ways and even nicer knowing it would be appreciated.
His men loved to fawn over your perfectly cooked food or premium hand-picked wine and you simply adored it. While it sometimes rubbed Bucky the wrong way seeing you all giggly over compliments from other men, he typically let it slide. It was never very serious and certainly never went beyond sweet comments. You embraced your hosting duties while pretending to ignore the conversations that would go on in the next room after the meal, much to Bucky’s content.
The night had started like any other. Bucky came home the previous day and told you there was going to be a meeting tomorrow night and to expect to host ten of his men. That seemed like such a smaller crowd than he normally had over, so you inquired, curious.
"Only ten?" You asked, already rushing to grab your pen and paper for the planning.
Bucky nodded, leaning against the counter. "Yeah, we’ve got someone new coming on and I don’t want to overwhelm him."
"A new guy?" Your eyes lit up. "You mean someone who hasn’t tasted my lasagna?"
Your husband couldn’t hold back the chuckle at your innocent awe. Moments like these made him wonder how someone so warm could ever deal with someone like him.
You weren’t totally clueless about his career, you knew at least a general description of what he did for a living, but, on the other hand, you hadn’t ever seen it. You roughly knew there were… multiple sides to him but those all seemed so distant, so pointless, at the time. In this home, with you, he was just Bucky. Your Bucky. Your husband. The one who showered you with love and appreciation.
"Yes, doll," your husband confirmed. "There’s someone who hasn’t had your famous lasagna."
"Wonderful!" You clapped and started writing out the menu. "Are there any requests? I certainly don’t want to mess anything up. God forbid the new guy thinks I’m a bad host or something."
You heard Bucky sigh as you continued making your notes. A hand came to your shoulder softly, halting your actions. You turned to face your husband, who was looking down at you with a soft smile, easing your worries nearly completely.
"Everything is going to be just fine," he said, placing a loving kiss on your forehead. You helplessly melted into the touch. "There’s nothing to worry about."
***
You were running around the kitchen like a mad man when Bucky came home the next night with a couple of men already following behind. He called out to greet you like some cheesy sitcom entrance. You force yourself to halt your panic, knowing it was in your best interest to go greet him and the first guests. Smoothing out your apron, you double-checked nothing would explode in flames upon your absence and made your way to the foyer.
"Hi, honey," you smiled as your eyes landed on your well-dressed, sophisticated-looking husband. For all the time spent together, he never did fail to make you swoon simply by just standing there.
"Hey, doll." Bucky matched your smile and gave you a kiss on the cheek knowing you would stress even more if he dared to smudge your lipstick.
When you two parted, your eyes wandered over your husband’s shoulder to the two men standing in front of the door. The one staring at you two exchanging welcomes you recognized right away as your husband’s right-hand-man Steve. Ever so strong and important looking.
But the boy standing next to Steve was a mystery. He was a bit smaller than them both but still had some height on you. This didn’t take away, though, from this timid look. He gazed around your home seeming so in awe of it all. He didn’t realize you were staring at him until Steve nudged him.
Bucky picked up on your curiosity and immediately jumped into introductions. Motioning towards the boy, "This is Peter. He’s the new member I was telling you about."
"Oh, of course," You smiled, outstretching your hand. Peter accepted the shake, a little on the enthusiastic side. "Very nice to meet you."
"It’s very nice to meet you too, Mrs. Barnes." The boy responded, holding slightly too much eye-contact, but you couldn’t blame him.
Your hands disconnected and you chuckled at the formalities, waving a hand in dismissal. You told him to call you by your first name. "The whole misses thing feels so serious," you insisted.
Peter just smiled, a twinkle in his eyes almost. He seemed to relax at your casualness. After the introductions, you led the men into the front room, offering up drinks and hors d’oeuvres. They helped themselves as you started to make your way back to the kitchen. For some reason, you decided to look back at the group. Your eyes met Peter’s immediately. The other men didn’t seem to notice, engrossed in some conversation as they poured their beverages. You simply smiled at the boy and headed back to the food.
It wasn’t too long after the first arrivals that the rest of the members started arriving. You didn’t have time to personally greet them all but Bucky assured you that was never necessary. You two had your own things to run, he liked to joke.
With everything places — food, silverware, centerpieces — you called the men into the dining room. They oohed and awed at the spread of lasagna, bread, veggies… All food groups were represented, you thought. As predicted, they began praising you for the meal as if it was the first time in their life that they’d ever eaten and it made you giggle. These were some of the toughest people you’d ever known and yet a simple baking dish of pasta and sauce could amaze them.
Once everyone was seated and digging in, you took your seat at the other end of the table, directly across from Bucky. As you began passing around the bread, you surprisingly found Peter sitting next to you.
"They made you sit down at this end?" You asked, handing him the breadbasket. Usually, the members dreaded sitting near the wife. While they were all so kind, in moments like these, they’d rather be at the other end looking so important.
"New guy," Peter shrugged, taking a piece of bread and moving it along.
"I thought this meeting was, like, for you," you said, cutting into the slice of lasagna one of the other men were so kind to serve you.
"No," he shook his head, beginning to eat. "At least that’s not how Mr. Barnes described it. Doesn’t matter, though. It’s just nice to be here."
You smiled, delighted by his optimism, having not seen many new members in your time with Bucky. "I hope the foods okay. I got nervous when Bucky said there’d be someone new coming around."
Peter scoffed as if finding your worry crazy which eased your mind a little. He took another bite of food. "This is easily one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time."
"Thank you, Peter," you said, taking a sip of your wine. Peter copied your motion, looking at you above the wine glass rim as he sipped.
"You did everything, yeah?" He asked, holding his wine while motioning towards the tables and surroundings. "Foods, plates, all of it?"
You nodded, probably coming off a bit more eager than you should’ve, but you couldn’t help yourself. Sure, Bucky’s guests loved to compliment your cooking but no one ever acknowledged the other pieces put into the meal.
"I try to change the table setting every season," you said, "and I like the food to be seasonal, too. There are some lovely markets around and I just adore browsing them… Oh! And the centerpieces, I got the flowers there, too…"
Your rambling died down as you caught Bucky staring at you from the other end of the table. One guy was trying to talk his ear off but he seemed interested in your conversation. Curiously, you started eying your husband back as you picked at your food. His face held an unreadable expression but, eventually, his eyes left yours and were now more focused on the one sitting next to you.
Appearing oblivious, Peter continued the conversation. "Well, I think the flowers are a nice touch," he said. "Pretty flowers picked by a pretty girl."
Your heart skipped a little at that comment. You couldn’t ignore the fact it was quite bold. While you were away of the gazes you got sometimes and the possibility you were talked about behind the scenes but to say it here? At the dinner table? With your husband just in earshot?
But at the same time, you had to consider, he was nice and probably just trying to butter you up hoping for a good word put in with the bossman. There was no doubt people thought they could get to Bucky through you but, in reality, you didn’t stick your hands in any of it. Nope, you just married into it.
Not completely sure how to respond, you simply accepted the compliment, "Well, thank you. That’s very sweet."
Peter smiled at your words, looking a bit proud of himself. You turned back to your plate and tried to eat your meal in silence.
Once everyone was finished, the group started making their way out of the dining room. You shooed them, promising to be out with coffee in a bit.
You were deep into cleaning, having finally carried all the dishes from the dining room to the kitchen when someone entered.
At first, you didn’t explicitly hear them as the faucet was running heavy from your battle of scrubbing dishes. Suddenly, you could sense a presence right behind you at the sink. Turning around, you nearly jumped out of your skin as you came face-to-face with Peter, looking almost amused at scaring you. You were surprised and also… not surprised.
"Sorry," you let out a breathy chuckle. "I didn’t hear you come in."
"That’s okay," he said and motioned towards the dirty plates lining the counter. "Do you need any help?"
"Oh," you frowned. "Shouldn’t you be in the meeting with everyone else?
He shook his head, "Mr. Barnes doesn’t want to start until he’s had coffee."
"Well, you can let him know it’s brewing away," you said, trying to keep your tone serious as you could. You turned back to the sink, praying he got the hint.
He hadn’t, you realized, as Peter came around to stand at your side, leaning against the counter. He stood, arms crossed, watching you.
It was weird — actually, this entire situation was weird. You didn’t think anyone but you or your husband had been in this kitchen before let alone actually know where it was in your home.
Despite how odd you found it, the last thing you wanted to be was rude. You didn’t want to think about what could ensue from your husband losing a guy.
"It’s kind of sad, Mrs. Barnes," Peter crossed his arms, seemingly ignoring your previous request to call you by your first name. You glanced at him, confused. "You’re so kind to do all this and none of them even offer to help you clean up."
"Oh, no, It’s okay-,"
"It’s really sad," He repeated, completely cutting off your attempt at a defense. You frowned and went back to cleaning the plates, praying your attempt to ignore him would encourage him to walk out. There was a weird feeling growing in your gut.
"Such a pretty girl shouldn’t have to do so much," Peter said, softly. "It’s not fair to you."
And that’s when you felt it. His hand slowly came up to rest on your lower back. You immediately tensed under his touch, mind spinning. What the hell had you ended up in? Should you have tried harder to get him out? Gosh, but he seemed so harmless-
His hand started inching upward and then back down, creeping a little lower each time with the motion. With your stance frozen, all you could do was focus on the soapy water in the sink, unsure of your next move. He took the hesitance as a chance to close the gap between you two. A few more shifts and he could have you fully pressed against the sink.
But before you could even ponder about his next move, the swinging kitchen door busted open. You both flinched at the sudden noise but Peter didn’t seem to move. You looked over to find it was Bucky in the doorway, gun drawn and pointed directly at Peter.
Your heart sank when you saw the weapon. Sure, you knew there was weaponry stored in the home but you had never definitely seen it. You could sometimes make out outlines of guns in suit pockets but now you were on the other end of one. While it wasn’t meant for you, with your poor positioning, a single shot and you could be taken down. And by your husband-
"What the fuck are you doing?" Bucky finally spoke, never taking his eyes off the person nearly towering over you. The gun was very steady, just like his words. But everything else about him was unlike anything you’d ever witnessed before. His eyes were dark, his features so harsh. This felt like a man you had never seen before.
"We were just talking," Peter answered. His voice was casual but you could feel a slight tremor in his hand. Or maybe that was just your body shaking uncontrollably. You couldn’t tell. "I offered to help her clean up."
Bucky cocked the gun. "Get your hands off her."
"Honey," you spoke softly, your voice slightly cracking from the tears that were beginning to form. "Please put the gun down."
"Not until he gets his hands off you, doll."
"Bucky, please." He wouldn’t look at you. He was determined to look beyond you and it scared you to death.
"You have five seconds to back away from her," Bucky took a step closer. "Or I’ll be forced to mess up my girl’s lovely kitchen."
You gasped at the sharpness in his voice, the entire darkness of it all. You started begging under your breath, hoping whoever or whatever heard the helpless prayers.
Finally, after what felt like hours to you, Peter stepped away from you. You turned to look back at the copy water where your hands were still submerged. They shook as you removed them and you let out a breath you hadn’t even realized you were holding.
Regaining some composure, you backed away from the sink and turned to your husband. Bucky still had the gun pointed at Peter, completely focused on him. Slowly, you approached him, your hands raised as if surrendering. You just needed to get the gun put away and then you could run to your room for some solitude. Fuck the other people probably oblivious, just relaxing and joking in your front room. This was typical business for them, they probably encountered your husband’s dark demeanor day in and day out, but this was going to take a toll on you.
"Honey, his hands are off of me," you whispered, slowly tiptoeing closer. "Put down the gun."
"He put his hands on you, doll," Bucky was answering you but he somehow sounded so distant, so consumed. "I let someone into this house that was going to do God knows what to you."
"No, no," you shook your head and you meant it. You didn’t think Peter was totally malicious. Just someone with a crush, high off excitement in a new place. "I really don’t think he meant harm."
"You’re too kind," Bucky scoffed. "You’re too kind, too innocent, too naive-,"
He held the gun stronger, seemingly preparing to shoot any second now. You were at the end of your rope with the realization. The waterworks were flowering uncontrollably now.
"James," you said, anger breaking through the tears. He seemed to freeze ever so slightly at your usage of his first name. "You really want to do this in front of your wife?"
Something clicked. You could feel it, you knew it. He didn’t answer and instead slowly lowered the weapon, placing it on the counter. Your husband turned to you. Seeing his opportunity, Peter sped past you two out of the kitchen. Neither of you really registered it. You were staring at one another, watching each other even begin to realize what had happened.
Now you were actually clueless. Were you meant to talk about this? Or did you just deal with it in time? The silence was killer but all your mind could focus on was the coffee machine that had gone silent, telling you it was done brewing. It was such a stupid, random thing to even focus on but you felt like your brain would explode if gave anything else the time of day.
"The coffee is ready for your meeting," you said, pulling off your apron and throwing it on the counter. Bucky watched you as stormed out of the kitchen, looking completely stunned and equally clueless.
You sat at your vanity in the bedroom. Thankfully you were able to avoid the front room, having no desire for anyone to see you in with mascara running down your cheeks.
You furiously scrubbed off your make-up despite it already almost off from the tears. Your emotions were just all over the place at this point. You didn’t know if you were angry, surprised, sad…
Mostly, you realized, you felt dumb. You could parade around being a little housewife, pretending she lived a normal life with a normal husband who had a normal job but that just wasn’t it. That wasn’t your reality in this moment. As much as you knew what his career entailed, seeing it up close like that was a whole new level. You thought you knew. You thought you knew so much.
You were just finishing changing out of your dress when the bedroom door opened. In the mirror, your angry eyes met Bucky’s worried ones. He entered slowly, shutting the door behind him. Part of you was pleased with this situation. He chose to check on you, pausing his meeting, but at the same time, you didn’t know if you could deal with anyone right now.
"How are you doing?" He finally spoke up, voice cutting through the tension.
You scoffed, "I just saw my husband pull a gun on a person in our fucking home."
Bucky shook his head and made his way over to the bed, where he sat at the edge, facing you. He wanted to get at you for swearing but much worse things had happened tonight that he didn’t know the point in it. Bucky never wanted to bring anything like that home.
He didn’t take care of that kind of "business" in this house. The meetings were routine, typically check-ins, but any deals or assignments were handled off the premises in fear of something turning ugly. He just wanted to keep you from that ugly. His sweet, soft wife who got excited over making lasagna and picking apples at the farmer’s market was never meant to be thrown into any of this. Especially not in the kind of way that just went down.
"I didn’t mean for that to happen," Bucky said. You rolled your eyes and turned quickly in your chair to face him. He ignored your attitude. "He had his hands on you. He was practically on top of you. Do you understand that? Please tell me you understand how that would make me angry."
"God, Bucky, you pulled a gun on an unarmed person!" You exclaimed. "I understand you were upset, I completely get that, but what… What was that? Who was that?"
His head tilted, confused, questioning. You shook your head in disbelief. Did he not even realize the mode he went into? The whole other person he seemed to encompass in those few minutes?
"You… you weren’t yourself," you mumbled and averted your gaze to your fingers which were fidgeting, restless. "You were scary. Disconnected. I didn’t know that person."
Bucky didn’t say anything at first. He got up from the bed and walked over to where you were seated at your vanity. He crouched down, trying to get you to look at him. Your heart pounded furiously at his close presence.
"You shouldn’t have seen that," He said. "You shouldn’t have seen any of that, doll."
His hands came to grasp yours. You wanted to pull away but you weren’t fast enough. He gripped your hands firmly as if scared you were going to vanish. Your head was swimming with even more confusion as he avoided your questioning.
"Can you even explain yourself?" You asked, finally looking up at him. Bucky’s worry seemed to have melted away and was replaced by something you once again couldn’t put your finger on.
He shook his head. The grip on your hands got tighter. "You have to understand when things come up I must act accordingly."
You didn’t understand but you had to understand. You knew you did. He was right. While jarring, that other side of Bucky did exist out there and he was probably the reason he could be so successful. And while that was something you could work on accepting, you didn’t want to see it in your home.
But for now, you didn’t want to deal with it. Emotions for you both were running high and there was no telling what could come out of your mouth anymore. You’d come back to it and work it out. There was no way you could avoid it. You didn’t think you could ever be scrubbed clean of what you saw.
"Okay," you mumbled and felt his hold on your hands loosen. "Just… Please don’t bring your work home for the time being. We can discuss this in the morning."
Bucky nodded, running his hand from your hands to your shoulder, lovingly. He mumbled okay and you sighed in relief.
For a second you wanted to just sit there, engrossed in the comfort his touch was bringing, completely and fully enjoy that you had your Bucky back, but then your brain remembered the people downstairs.
"Oh, honey," you said, "the guys are probably waiting for you."
"No," Bucky’s head shook. "I sent them home. You’re more important."
You melted at the words. Yes. Confirmed. Your Bucky was back to you. The man you loved and gave everything. He was putting you first.
"You didn’t need to do that," you mumbled, bashfully. Bucky chuckled at your reaction.
"Of course I did," he insisted. "I was worried. I never wanted you to see that. You didn’t sign up for that."
"No, Bucky, I really didn’t," you shook your head.
He sighed, "And I’ll spend the rest of my life making it up to you."
You looked down again, suddenly worried you were putting too much guilt on him but at the same time, that felt silly to even consider. You weren’t sure anymore. The day was overwhelming as the minutes continued.
"Could we just go to bed now?"
Bucky removed his hands from your shoulders and stood, allowing you to get out of the chair and make your way to the bed, under the fluffy comforter. Your husband watched, waiting until you were comfortable.
"I’ve got a few phone calls to make but then I’ll come to bed, okay?"
You nodded, eyes shut already halfway into your dream world. You heard Bucky chuckle as he turned out the lights and shut the door quietly.
You lulled yourself to sleep, head still spinning from the earlier acts. The whiplash your husband gave you was starting to catch up but how much more could you think about it? It’d come back and you’d have to deal but for now, you could pretend. At least while you slept, you could go back to putting that distance between yourself and any side of Bucky that wasn’t husband Bucky. For just a bit, you could pretend you didn’t know so much.
Demigod MC Series: Hades
Demigod MC Series: Intro, Aphrodite, Hermes, Hades
Lucifer
Well… this is awkward…
He’s actually met Hades multiple times for business reasons (Underworld-Devildom relations are amiable if not a little odd. Hades was something of an uncle figure to Diavolo as a wee demon lad, which should speak for itself really). He’s a gloomy fellow and not much for chit-chat, but he never thought they’d end up taking one of his kids by accident…
He had to send a formal apology letter to the Lord of the Underworld immediately, but thankfully he didn’t seem very concerned for his offspring - if anything he appeared to think the Devildom would suit them nicely which was… concerning.
And he was not wrong. The darkness, demons, ghouls, and frights of the Devildom hardly seemed to faze the MC, if anything they fit right in. He’d dare say they were thriving if not for one thing…
They were So. Damn. Bleak.
Getting a smile out of this one AT ALL was rare. For once he felt the need to check up on someone constantly just to be sure they were alright... They’d keep assuring the House that they’re not actually as sad as they look but it’s hard not to assume…
He was a little mortified at first when they first met Cerberus cause… well they called him “Cerbi” and the massive demonic guard dog rolled over for them like a Golden Retriever!
Apparently he and the Cerberus that they knew are from the same litter and they must have smelt familiar... He would have probably limited their interactions just to keep his dog on his side but after seeing the MC smile for once while they played with the big oaf well…
Cerberus got a new playmate and the MC got a massive, three-headed therapy animal. Win-win. 😌
Mammon
Do ya really gotta be such a downer all the time, MC…? 😔
He thinks they’re nice, like really nice. They’re always super concerned when his brothers attack him or when he gets injured, but he’s pretty sure it’s because they’ve seen people die before so…
At first, he had no idea why he had to be saddled with this depressing wisp of mortal but over time he started to understand that they weren’t all that sad. They had… Resting Gloom Face? Is that a thing?
They also had a different way of seeing things. He could win the lottery and they’d tell him to stay inside so he wouldn’t get hit by lightning or if he pissed off the wrong people, they’d joke about him keeping his fingers and toes. Dark stuff, but not intended to be so… well morbid.
However, what he eventually found out that the REAL advantage to having a Hades kid in the Devildom was that nothing scared them. Literally nothing. Not even the ghosts - which to reiterate, are terrifying!
Cue Mammon getting dragged to horror movies nights with his brothers and pulling the MC along to be his personal security blanket. He’ll hold onto them for dear life as they just pat his head or something, watching and not even flinching at the jumpscares.
The first time the House had an unexpected power outage he clung onto the back of their shirt like a lost child while they calmly looked for the circuit-breaker...
If he could jump into their arms every time something scary happened like Scooby-Doo, he absolutely would. His brothers make fun of him, but after seeing the MC handle Cerberus like a puppy any time something frightens them they hide behind the mortal as well…
Leviathan
In some ways, he totally relates to their moodiness but come on! Who can still look so sad when watching The Magical Ruri Hanai: Demon Girl?? Ruri-chan can make anyone smile! 😠
When he first met the MC, he was a little confused about why they didn't find him intimidating at all. He even reverted to his demon form and showed his fangs but no dice! All they said was, "I've walked along the edge of Tartarus. You're gonna have to try a lot harder than that, buddy…"
That was probably his first sign that the "human" wasn't normal…
After Mammon told him who their Dad was, things made a lot more sense. A child of Hades in the Devildom? That's ironic enough to be its own anime plot!! They certainly felt like an angsty protagonist at times. 🤷‍♀️
Truth be told, they could relate to each other in a lot of ways. You wouldn't think that an offspring of the Underworld and a demonic shut-in would have much in common but the one thing they share between them is that sense of never really fitting in.
Turns out that Hades kids are black sheep, even among other demigods, and Levi? Well, he's had trouble relating to others since his angel days. He and the mortal were like off-beat kindred spirits!
Which, I mean, you wouldn't get just by looking at them together. Levi being the impassioned super-otaku rambling their ear off while his somber companion would just go along with him quietly, but hey, there's more beneath the surface. Probably.
Now if he could just get them to cosplay as the Lord of Emptiness with him… They'd be perfect! Perfect he says!!
Satan
Highly considered drugging their food with antidepressants for a while…
This was before getting to know them better, of course, but for the first couple months he honestly couldn't shake the feeling that the mortal looked miserable!
Now, he's one to particularly care for the comfort of strangers, but just looking at them like that every day would sour his own mood quite considerably. It was very irritating...
It was only on closer inspection that he realized there was something else at play, though.
The mortal was different - even for a demigod he imagined. They took to the Devildom easily and the realm almost accepted them right back!
The flora looked better in their presence, the hellish beasts that roamed the wilds would roll over for them, and they even seemed to be welcomed in by the never-ending shadows…
It was fascinating. Like the effects of the Underworld were baked into their DNA and mingled with the environment around them… Two layers of darkness coexisting within one person.
I mean, what other creature - other than Lucifer - could ride Cerberus around like a pony??
Had they not been so kind, they'd probably scare him shit-less... Their potential power was too great to ignore. But after getting used to their gloom, at least they made for pleasant company. 🤷‍♀️
Satan likes them well enough, but even still he has to wonder just what they were capable of… you know?
Asmodeus
Oh. My. WORD. What a buzzkill!!!
Really, the new mortal was no good at parties or pictures for that matter!
Not because they looked bad, or even because he couldn't get them to smile, but because GHOSTS would always photobomb any pictures they were in!! 😫
One time he got a selfie with them on the couch and a creepy ghost child could be seen hiding behind the cushions so NOPE. No more photos with the mortal around!!
Aside from that, he couldn't say the mortal was all bad or anything…They were pretty friendly, despite their general look and feel.
Though, personally, he thought they wore far too much black... Even in the Devildom, there's normally a pop of color, you know? Was that just the Hades dress code?
And you want to know the weirdest thing? Despite everything about them screaming "Doom and Gloom," they're straaaangely popular among the RAD dating scene…
Like. Not as some heartthrob, "Love'em and Leave'em"-type, but he's found that there's a LOT of his demonic classmates who think they're cute or have a crush on them in some way…
Naturally, he can see the appeal of the mysterious, moody demigod with a dark, troubled past. It's just the demigod in question is completely oblivious to it! 🤷‍♀️
He tried to give them dating tips or play matchmaker from time to time but eventually gave up when it was clear they weren't interested. Alas, students of RAD, this is one forbidden fruit that refuses to be shared…! Such a tragedy… 😔
Beelzebub
They remind him of Belphie… like. A lot.
The similarities were obvious. They had a similar feel, made similar jokes, and even the same somewhat dreary attitude about them...
If he were being honest, at the beginning there were times when he'd open up to them a lot more than he intended because he'd forget that he wasn't actually talking to Belphie…
Thankfully, he knew better than to try and treat them like his replacement or anything. They were two different people after all. But it didn't stop him from feeling extra protective around them for a while.
Besides, there was ONE thing that set them leagues apart from Belphie and that was the fact they were a shit cook. Not quite as bad as Solomon but uh… Actually no, that's a closer call than it has any right to be...
Apparently, Hades kids don't need to eat as much and when you hang out with shades and skeletons for most of your life, you don’t really worry about making food that's any better than… "Well, technically it's edible." 🤷‍♀️
Their food won't kill a person like Solomon's, but you WILL start seeing stuff you probably shouldn't. He tried their "soup" once and swore he saw the ghost of his mother… and he doesn't even have a mother!!!
He swears that if he ever sees the MC and Solomon working together in the same kitchen he's skipping town… Whatever culinary abomination the two of them could create would probably gain sentience and eat HIM instead. He's always figured he'd go out with Death by Food, but not like that!! 😫
Belphegor
Ever meet someone who’s like looking in a mirror? Yeah, he’s getting those vibes…
He never expected the "human" to be so similar to him, it was kind of uncanny.
Upon first laying eyes on each other there was a pause… then a squint… and then… a nod.
Honestly, their combined dry wit, dark humor, and pessimistic outlook played off of each other surprisingly well. Too well for him to hate, really.
Not that it mattered because they didn’t believe him for a second when he tried to trick them (they had dealt with loads of lying monsters before). He hated to admit it, but they had a good head on their shoulders and knew better than to trust a locked up demon…
And yet, they seemed to stick around with him anyway. Because of the good conversation or just empathizing with his loneliness was anyone's guess. 🤷‍♀️
Sometimes they'd come up and sit outside the door in comfortable silence… Or they'd talk about whatever:
MC: *sitting out by the attic with their back against the door* So what happens to demons when they die…?
Belphie: *laying on the floor on the other side, staring at the ceiling* Depends on the kind. If I die, I'll just reform later.
MC: Like a reincarnation?
Belphie: Eh. *shrugs* Maybe. Haven't died yet.
MC: You could die in there, you know.
Belphie: *throws a side glare* Well thanks for bringing that up…
MC: *shrugs* What? It's true. But don't worry, I won't let you. *small-ish smile*
Belphie: *stares at them wide-eyed and pink-cheeked before turning on his side quickly* Ugh… whatever…
They did their word, somehow. They eventually got the door open and let him out, but by that time the anger was gone and he was just happy to finally talk to them face-to-face...
And good thing too, because apparently it's not smart to fight a death-child in what is essentially their element - as he saw when they summoned an army of skeletons to kick Levi's ass when he cheated them in Devil Cart...
He would not have lasted in that fight... Dodged a bullet there.
Violet
So y'all remember this animatic? Yeah?
I wrote a thing based off of it.
I'm not entirely sure how I fee about it, but y'all have shown how much you like my crack in the past, even if I wasn't sure about that either, so...
Here's Legend getting mistaken for a mom and pulling his brothers into a terrible impromptu acting adventure.
There are many things you do not do in Castletown.
One of those things, apparently, was taking Twilight with you, and next time he had a chance Legend was seriously considering muzzling their wolfish friend, in his shadow form or not.
He wasn’t the only one with that thought either apparently, although likely the only one who was thinking it out annoyance rather than utter and complete terror. Honestly, Twi needed to cut that protective streak of his in half, or he was going to be regretting it even more than he was going to regret this!
They’d all met thieves before, on the road, in villages, even here in Castle Town, and unfortunately Warriors’ central city was particularly full of them. The captain had explained it ages ago, something about the war displacing people and stirring up unrest with the refugees. It wasn't uncommon that someone got tired of relying on the crown for help, which, the captain had admitted sorrowfully, was rather slow in coming, despite all of Artemis’s efforts, to provide any sort of relief to the starving and displaced victims of the war. Legend had winced at that. Poor blokes, it had been similar in his own Hyrule when those trapped in the dark world emerged again, and even back in their Hylian forms, many of them had struggled to readjust to a world that had moved on in their absence.
It was little wonder than that those in the captain’s time faced the same struggle, especially after a bloody time war, but even so, it bothered him to no end that their group specifically had been the one that the idiot of a man chose to target. Honestly! They were all carrying swords for pities sakes! How did the sod even think he was going to catch a bunch of warriors unawares to steal from them?
Maybe it was because they were split.
It only made sense, after being dropped in the captain’s time, that they restock supplies. Both for practicality and to avoid suspicion, they’d divided the group into two to better run their errands, Time taking those less accustomed to bustling cities with him to gather food and potions, and Warriors leading the rest of them, those who could stand crowds at least a little bit better, to visit the blacksmith, fletcher, and tailor shops.
True to form, the captain strutted ahead with his scarf waving behind him, Wind tagging along beside him and chattering excitedly about something or other at the soldier. He and Four, however, had chosen to trail after, not for any particular reason other than both being extremely tired and maybe just a bit emotional.
In his own case, he hadn’t slept in a good sixty-three hours or so, and combining that with the stress of wandering around in an unknown place, he was a little more sensitive than usual and a bit put out as a result. Similarly, Four was fighting off his usual headache from their sudden switch, and ever since they’d pulled themselves out of the alleyway Hylia dumped them in, the shortest hero had worn his hood pulled over his eyes, mumbling softly under his breath in a way that was, unfortunately, unnerving Legend further and making him want, very much, to beg the other to stop.
That wasn’t an option of course, so he did something he hated almost as much as the saunter Warriors was using to get down the road.
He made small talk.
It helped, surprisingly, and while the four of them had run their errands, he chattered amiably with the smithy, who’d been willing to talk as long as he didn’t have to think too much on things. Legend could agree with that, and the two had spent the last half hour discussing if Four’s tunic really was red, green, blue and violet, as the smithy claimed, or red, green, blue and purple as Legend thought it was.
“It’s violet.” Four huffed, pushing the last bundle of arrows into his pack as they departed from the smithy’s shop and made their way back to the fountain at the center of town, where they'd agreed to meet with Time and the others.
“But it’s not!” He insisted, shifting the bundle of fabric in his arms and meeting the smithy’s gaze. “Violet is softer, duskier, a bit closer to grey or blue. That’s purple, plain as day!”
Warriors and Wind, for once, didn’t say anything, only exchanging grins every so often that the other two ignored.
Talking with Four was surprisingly pleasant, and ridiculously easy in comparison to talking with the others. For one thing, neither had to look too very far up or down to see the other, and as they’d found since their first dinner at the ranch, it was easy to say a lot with just a look. Subtle communication also went a long way further with the smithy than with anyone else, and it was a relief not to have to explain everything for once. Additionally, Four also liked reading, and unlike with most of their other brothers, they could actually have intelligent conversations with each other.
Not that that’s what they were doing when they’d trailed after the other two towards the fountain, but when they heard the snarl and resulting scream, the look the two heroes shared had carried as many words as a full two-hour lecture, while all at once conveying a single thought.
Oh boy, what did Twilight do this time?
What Twilight had done, he found out later, was spring a thief who had attempted to snatch the Sheikah Slate from Wild, who’d been a bit busy trying to calm his anxiety to really notice that one of the humans pressing close all around him was actually trying to steal it. That, naturally, was all well and good. The problem was the way Twilight had chosen to handle it and Legend swore there were days that Twilight forgot what form he was in; rather than pushing the thief away or grabbing ahold of them and confronting them, the gracious rancher had chosen to fling his entire body weight at the man and bite his arm.
Of course, that was only what Legend found out later, what he saw when the four of them managed to peek through the crowd, was Twilight standing there in full sight of the entire market with blood on his teeth and a man screaming in pain and terror at his feet.
Bravo, Rancher, bravo.
“Oof.” Wind winced. “That’s not good.”
“Shit.” Warriors swore, glancing around nervously and ripping his scarf off to hide in his pack.
Realization sprung on the vet like Twilight had the poor thief; Warriors was the hero here. If anyone noticed him, or any of the knightlier looking ones, they’d probably try and have them arrest Twilight. That was all well and good of course, as it would make a reasonable excuse to haul the rancher out of the way, but they’d be expected to call for help from some soldiers, and while they’d been planning on meeting with the queen while they were here, having Twilight presented to her as a feral, potentially insane, and definitely dangerous criminal was not the approach they were aiming for.
They needed a distraction, fast.
So, like the reasonable and totally mentally secure Hylian that he was, Legend shouted the first thing that came to his mind. “Violet!”
His three companions stared at him, and had he been capable, he would have stared at himself, but a desperate glance Fours way had the other drawing back, nodding slowly as Legend shouted again. “Violet? Honey?”
Warriors looked at him like he’d lost his head, gripping Wind’s shoulder firmly as if worried he’d have to pull the kid back from the apparently mad veteran.
Thank Din for teaching him acting years ago, even if it was all stage performing, but he was counting on it to get him, and Twilight, out of their respective messes, even if that meant building his higher before he could escape. At any rate, he’d caught the attention of a few people with his panicked shout. Turning to the nearest Hylian that wasn’t one of his group, he gently tapped the woman’s shoulder, letting his panic and everything in general spill over into his face and voice as the woman met his gaze with a startled look.
“Ma’am, I’m looking for-” Oh Four was going to hate this. “-My child, Violet. Have you seen a blonde Hylian child, so tall?” He lowered his hand to approximately where Four’s head would reach. “I’ve been looking everywhere!” He forced a fake sob into his voice, glancing from the woman to the surrounding crowd, and Warriors and Wind in its midst.
Wind was stifling a laugh behind his hand while Warriors stared in utter shock.
“Oh my,” The woman touched her cheek, clucking lightly and patting Legend’s hand in a consoling manner. “You poor dear! I haven’t seen a thing but just give me one moment.” The burly housewife turned, still patting Legend’s hand gently as she murmured something to the women behind her, before turning back to Legend with a sorry expression. “None of my friends have seen your little one, dear. But-” The woman turned and, with all the force and volume of a cow, hollered at the top of her lungs to the crowd as a whole. “Hello? Yes, this woman is looking for her daughter!”
Woman?!?!?!
“Her name is Violet! She’s-” The woman blinked, looking to Legend with a worried look as several other market goers turned to stare, many of them women with looks of pity and understanding that was making him wish he’d stayed silent. Fortunately, his ruse had startled them out of staring at the sight of a mauled thief as worry for a poor young mother and her lost daughter took its place. “She’s how old?”
Legend fought the protest of female pronouns, both on Four’s part and his own, but only in his head. Outwardly however, he covered his face with the hand not being smashed by the farm-wife's own. “She’s four.” Shoot him, he was saying whatever came to mind because he was panicked, alright?
A snort could be heard behind him, earning disapproving looks from the crowd that soon shifted to pity as Wind too joined the act, turning his snort into pitiful sniffling as he clung to Warriors’ hand, looking for all the world like a child who’d been to the market too long and wanted to go home, but was also panicking at the loss of their sibling. “Have you all seen my sister?” The sailor blubbered softly, actual tears spilling down his face as he pouted, expression making his act so believable that no one even questioned his height. As if to make the act more convincing, Warriors wrapped an arm around the kid’s shoulder, his own face stiffening into something that could either be gas or worry, Legend was a bit on the fence.
“What’s going on here?” Legend wished that was Time stalking towards them in full armor, but it wasn’t, it was a Hylian Soldier, staring at the crowd with a grim frown on his face as he turned to Legend, standing in its center.
Oh well, those who crack under a tough audience get tomatoes to the face; he just hoped Wars would keep playing along. “My daughter,” He sobbed into his hand, pulling the other free from the housewife to properly cover his face. “She- My baby- I can’t find her anywhere, Sir!” Later, Warriors would begrudgingly admit that the look Legend shot the soldier was enough to break any heart as the vet stepped forwards, grabbing hold of the man’s arm with all the desperation of a worried mother. “Please tell me, have you seen a little girl? She’s in her favorite dress, the colors of the goddesses, red, green and blue?” He motioned down at his own tunic, skirt, whatever one would call it. “There’s a violet corner too, I made it for her myself- oh my poor baby! I can’t seem to find her anywhere!”
The grizzled soldier quickly melted under the power of tearful violet eyes, and he too gently patted Legend’s hands as if he thought it would do any good. “I’ll have my men look for her right away, ma’am. How old would you say she is?
“She’s four.” He reaffirmed. Might as well stick to his original story.
“So tall?” The farm-wife motioned, hands lowering a bit more than Legend’s had, but the woman was trying to help, so he couldn’t really be upset with her for getting it wrong. At this point though, he was a bit worried about where Four actually was, because he’d expected the shorter hero to make an appearance sooner rather than later so the act could end.
“Right.” The man nodded, pulling himself loose as Legend brought his hands to clasp in front of his chest in an imitation of the maids he’d seen worrying about the halls when Fable went missing. “We’ll do everything in our power to find your little one, madame, you have my word.” The soldier bowed, kissing the back of the vet’s hand graciously before moving back into the crowd and snapping orders at the soldiers stationed around the market.
People buzzed by, spreading the word of ‘little Violet’s’ disappearance as Warriors and Wind pushed forwards to where Legend stood.
“Really, vet?” Warriors murmured lowly.
“I panicked.” He admitted softly, as to avoid anyone noticing as he wrung his hands. “But seriously, where is ‘’Violet’? I thought he’d have appeared before it became a big thing.”
The captain frowned, settling a hand on his shoulder carefully and standing on his toes to look over the crowd as Wind giggled at the scowling veteran. The minute he shot a look down at the sailor though, the kid had picked up his role as smoothly as if he’d never dropped it. “I’m worried, mom.” Wind blinked past fake tears, and had he not needed to remain in character, Legend would have scowled and flicked the kid’s nose for the tease.
“I am too, honey.” He sighed instead, ruffling the sailor’s curls and looking over to where the others had been. Time and the others had disappeared into the crowd again, likely trying to keep a low profile and laughing their asses off at Legend’s expense while Time and Sky scolded Twilight.
“Mama?” A small voice called out, and the crowd, and he meant the whole crowd, the whole freaking crowd of several hundred people, froze as a small face peeked out from an alleyway, the smithy’s hand coming up to rub at his shimmering purple eyes with a sniff. “Mama?”
“Violet!” All three heroes surged forwards, Legend sinking to his knees and wrapping Four in a hug, taking the opportunity when his face was hidden from the crowd to scowl. “About time you showed up.” Aloud for the crowd however, he let sobs pitch his voice hysterically. “Oh honey, you can’t run off on mama like that! I was worried sick!”
And as if to put the icing on the cake of shame, one of the men in the crowd smiled softly, patting Warriors’ back with a friendly smile. “Your wife is quite the caring mother, isn’t she? Ah, you’re a lucky man, Mr.”
Legend forced himself to not blow their cover, no matter how little they now needed it with the others safely out of sight. Breaking character meant causing drama that they didn’t need. ‘Violet’ had been found, the cute little family would depart, people would calm. But if the worried mother turned out to be a screaming teenage boy and the lost daughter to be a smithy apprentice with a height problem, people would likely riot. So instead of turning around and giving the man a piece of his mind, he pushed forwards, hefting Four in his arms (the smithy sank into him with a sigh that couldn’t have been faked) letting the smaller hero nestle against him, hood hiding the smithy’s face from view as he pulled them both up, adjusting his arms so as to not drop the other.
Man, he was glad he’d put on power bracelets today.
“She is indeed.” Warriors forced out, a strained smile on his face as he settled his hand on Legend’s waist, stiff, cold and incredibly awkward. “We’d probably better head off, dear.” If the captain smiled any harder, he’d break his teeth. “Or the inns will all be full.”
It should have ended there, it should have. Legend was so ready for it to end (although Four was warm and a calming presence as the smithy began to doze against his chest), but because fate loved to mess with him, it didn’t.
“You’re looking for a place to stay the night?” The Man-Who-Needed-To-Be-Kicked cocked a brow. “I run an inn here, just across the square. I’m sure we can find a lovely little family like yourselves a place to rest, you and our wife must be exhausted after such worry!”
Warriors, sages curse and bless him, nodded along stiffly, gently pulling him along by is waist after the Blasted-Innkeeper-Who-Would-Be-Kicked as the man chattered about family discounts and free dinner. Legend’s shoulders only lowered when a free trip to the bath house was also thrown in ‘complimentarily’.
He regretted it when someone pointed him to the ladies’ side of the bath-house (think heavens it was empty that early), and he was about ready to strangle something or someone when the others joined them inside, stuck with a regularly priced room, and the smithy and vet both were bombarded with teases as Warriors sat looking utterly and completely disgusted.
“They thought we were married....”
Legend groaned, flopping over on the other side of the bed with a grimace. “Gross, right?”
“Yeah.”
"We’re forgetting this ever happened, right?”
“Yeah.”
“Good.”
Regardless, no one ever let them forget it happened.
Legend was buying Twilight a muzzle, and he was pretty sure Wars would be willing to help.
Your writing is so good ahdiahdoajdisb Also I was wondering if you can do wedding hc's for Senpai, Whitty and Pico? It's okay if not. Thank you ;w;
OKAY THIS IS ONE OF THE NEWER ASKS BUT SORRY THIS IS SO CUTE I REALLY WANTED TO WRITE THIS!! also, after this i'll get back to some older and longer requests, so prepare for some one shots :)
senpai, whitty and pico wedding hc's ;;
﹌﹌﹌
senpai;
you better believe this is gonna be the fanciest wedding ever.
this man is gonna treat you so goddamn well. like he will do everything so that you guys have the best, prettiest, and probably also most expensive wedding ever.
senpai's first instinct is to make the wedding rather big and extravagant, because his s/o only deserves the best.
however, if you want it to be a smaller gathering, he'll totally go along with that aswell.
he'll be silently begging you to let him choose out the theme and colours for your wedding. this man has a real sense of style to be honest.
in the days leading up to the big event, this man will be overjoyed. there won't be a moment where he doesn't have this big, goofy smile on his face.
on the day itself??
the moment he sees you he starts tearing up. he can't believe that this is actually happening.
his vows are quite long, yet full of meaningful words and heartfelt messages. it was quite clear he spent insane amounts of time perfecting his speech for you.
afterwards, he'll definetly dance and sing with you, swinging you around in his arms as tears from happiness flow down his flushed cheeks.
you can't comprehend how happy you make this man.
whitty;
you guys will likely have a small, but really pretty wedding!
due to whitty's anxiety of updyke finding him, you guys have a private wedding either in your house or a cute secluded area!
he feels a bit bad for not letting you have some big, busy party, so he will let you choose the theme, dishes, anything.
he will be happy as long as you are, afterall! but, nevertheless, you ask him for his opinion on everything.
so that bombman feels loved and included <33
like senpai, whitty will become very emotional during the wedding. although unlike the blonde, whitty is far better at hiding it.
you'll definetly see him blush, and maybe even wipe away some oily tears.
he just can't help it, the sight of you makes his 'heart' flutter, and his breath hitch.
looking down at you makes his eyes widen as he just adores how beautiful you look.
he has this love struck expression all throughout your vows, even stuttering over his own words as he tries to fight the smile off of his face.
when it's time for the kiss, he just lifts you up and keeps you in his arms for a little while after.
you swear you saw him crying.
pico;
this,,, this man.
so he was an absolute mess while you walked down the aisle.
honestly it's a mystery who proposed to who. you would expect pico to take the lead. but to be honest, he's absolutely horrible at relationships, and would be far too anxious to do something like proposing to you.
he was legitimately sweating, yet unable to keep his eyes off of you.
his vows would be surprisingly long for someone like pico. he would communicate all of his feelings towards you, and how much you actually mean to him.
he definetly had some voice cracks during his speech, but atleast he didn't end up crying.
as for the preparation for the wedding, he would be very lenient to any ideas you have for the theme or design!!
after the ceremony, pico was practically unable to leave your side for the rest of the evening. he would constantly be around you, have his arm around your shoulder, and boast about how he was your new husband. completely ignoring his nervousness from before.
he just was truly happy for once, let this man have his moment.
he doesn't care too much about how it ends up looking, so he's fully content to let you have your fun with choosing everything. besides, he likes seeing how happy you get about certain things or colours.
everytime you guys talk about the wedding, albeit before or after, he just gets this delighted smile on his face.
he'll instantly soften and just be like :))) yes, s/o, my beloved.
The car comes to a halt and you look up from your phone after being so occupied with texts you’ve been ignoring all afternoon.
“We’ve arrived, Miss,” The driver, Lawrence informs you in his usual, polite manner, looking at you through the mirror.
“Oh, thank you so much,” you breathe out grabbing your purse from the seat next to you. “I don’t think I’ll take too long, I’m not really in the mood to party,” you let him know, quickly running your hand through your hair before getting out, already knowing paparazzi is waiting for all guests at the entrance probably.
“Had a long day?” he asks with a soft smile.
“Kind of,” you sigh nodding. “I’ll text you when I’ll feel like heading home soon, alright?”
“Perfect. Have a great night, Miss,” Lawrence nods.
“Thank you,” you nod at him before opening the door and getting out of the car. Strategically, Lawrence stopped just a few buildings away from the club, so you wouldn’t be attacked right away, emerging from the car. This gives you enough time to fix your dress and avoid your private parts to end up on the tabloids. Not something you want to include in your career, if you’re being honest.
Shutting the door closed you head towards the club that has quite a long line of people waiting outside, though you have no idea why. If they are not on the list, there’s no way they’ll get inside, it’s a private party.
As you approach the entrance, people start to recognize you quite quickly and you hear your name coming from all direction, but you just flash a smile in their way, continuing to walk with the intention of getting inside as fast as possible.
Just as you expected, paparazzi are already waiting at the entrance and they start flashing their cameras in your way right away, throwing all kinds of questions at you that are left completely ignored.
The bouncer checks your name on the list and lets you inside without a fuss and you’re happy to leave the madness behind and mingle in the crowd of familiar faces.
Tonight is the celebration of the birthday of a good friend, a quite old friend of yours. Florence and you met quite some years ago, when both of you were only trying your luck in the industry, working hard to make yourselves a name. Now you are both are in the inner circle of Hollywood, piling iconic roles on your resumes together. So much has changed, people keep coming and going in your life, but the two of you managed to stay close and keep each other grounded when it was needed.
You keep saying hello to the people you know as you make your way through the guests, hugging a few guests, asking if they have seen Florence and they all point towards the bar. Unsurprisingly, you find the birthday girl right there, with a group of people circling around her as the bartender places a row of shots to the counter and her eyes light up at the sight of all the alcohol.
“Not even surprised you are already plastered,” you grin at her and she squeals upon seeing you join the little circle. Throwing her arms around you she jumps at you mumbling her greeting.
“I’m so happy you’re here!” she breathes out, clearly over a few drinks at this point. “I feel like we haven’t seen each other in ages!”
“It happens when we are both working on a movie at the same time, in different cities,” you chuckle giving her a look.
This past month has been rather busy, you were in Atlanta finishing up filming your latest movie while Florence was in Palm Springs, working on Don’t Worry Darling, she barely made it back to the city to her own birthday party, apparently they wrapped filming just two days ago so it was a close call.
“You have to take a shot with me!” she urges, already grabbing two shots from the bar and handing you one of them, not even waiting for your answer.
“Cheers to the birthday girl!” you hold your glass up after everyone else grabbed a shot, everyone around wishes her a happy birthday again before sending down the alcohol.
You can’t help the grimace that pulls on your face as the liquor burns down your throat. It’s been a while since the last time you had anything other than a few glasses of wine, it’ll take some time to get used to the stomach churning taste.
As the host of the party and the birthday girl, Florence’s presence is in high demand, so you don’t get to spend too much time with her, but you don’t blame her. Ordering a longer drink for you, sticking with some tequila based cocktail as you mingle in the crowd of guests.
Luckily, there are quite a lot familiar faces and you don’t have to linger around the club on your own. You move to a booth at the side with Sydney, a producer you and Florence both worked together previously. She is pretty new in the world of films, but she surely is a talent and you can’t wait for everyone to realize what a blessing she and her art is. You’re joined by her girlfriend, Emma and the three of you are deep in conversation, sharing the funniest stories that happened to you lately and surprisingly, you are genuinely having a good time. You really weren’t in the mood for a party after such a long and frustrating day, having scrunched in three auditions to one day because your manager messed the dates up. When you finished with the third ones, you wanted nothing else than to just sink into a nice bath, have a glass of wine and go to bed early, making your friends’ point of you being a grandma quite valid. However you didn’t have the heart to cancel on Florence, but now that you’ve had some alcohol buzzing in your system and some good company, you don’t regret coming at all.
Once you get to the end of your drink you head back to the bar to have another one, not feeling like leaving just yet. Pushing your way through the people, some keep saying hi to you and you greet everyone back with an instinct, even if you don’t know them. Something you’ve grown to do over your years being in the spotlight.
Standing in line, just like everyone else, you patiently wait to get to the front, when you feel someone bump against you from behind.
“Excuse me—Oh! If it isn’t my favorite Never Have I Ever game partner!”
Your eyes are met with a pair of green ones and a dimpled smile, you can’t help but chuckle as you turn to greet Harry.
“Hi there! Long time no see!” you smile as he pulls you into a side-hug and stands with you in the line.
“You know, maybe you would’ve seen me earlier if you actually gave me your number,” he comments with a sly smile and you have nothing to defend yourself with, he is completely right.
That day the two of you met on The Ellen Show you were actually planning to give him your number, but once your part of the filming ended your manager called you about something urgent and you couldn’t wait for him to finish as well, leaving the studio without ever giving him the chance to even ask for your number. You felt guilty and a little disappointed, but thought your paths would sooner or later cross somehow and it seems like you were right.
“I’m sorry about that. I had some papers to sign before the office closed, I had to leave,” you apologize truthfully and he nods understanding.
“S’alright. I was a little bummed, but I get it.”
“So what are you doing here?” you ask, moving forward in the line, getting closer to the front. Harry gives you a quick look that you can’t quite read before answering.
“I uhh—Florence and I filmed together last month.”
That’s when it clicks. She told you and you read about it, but you tend to forget these kind of things, not having enough capacity to keep everything in mind, only restricting it to the most important stuff.
“Oh, right! Yeah, sorry. Totally slipped my mind. Sorry, I sounded like I live under a rock,” you awkwardly chuckle, feeling a little ashamed that you didn’t remember, when Florence even mentioned it herself before she travelled to Palm Springs, but you were running on caffeine and protein bars between takes, it’s a luck you didn’t even forget your own name after those busy weeks.
“No, s’alright. Nice to know not everyone is drowning in the content that’s been put out of me lately,” he chuckles lowly. “You look lovely, by the way,” he nods at you, eyes running down your body quickly, before they return to your gaze.
“Oh, thank you,” you breathe out looking down at yourself, as if you forgot what you were wearing. It’s a little, black Gucci dress, quite vintage with some embroidered floral patterns along the slightly daring neckline. “It’s Gucci,” you tell him with a knowing smirk.
“Oh!”
“Know you are obsessed with it,” you add with a chuckle, seemingly surprising him with your knowledge about him.
“Someone did some research about me then?”
“I’ll admit, I might have searched your name one of those nights after I had a nice glass of wine.”
“And what else did you find out about me?” he arches an eyebrow at you, making your cheeks heating up. You shouldn’t have admitted that you searched him, he’ll think you’re some kind of stalker, which you are not, you just like to catch up on things sometimes. Though you are clearly a fan of his music and you know about his career vaguely, you haven’t been keeping an eye on him that closely lately, only because you didn’t have the time. However after meeting him at the taping, he was stuck on your mind for days before you gave in and checked out what he’s been up to lately and went through some in-depth articles about him from the past years, closing the line with his latest Vogue issue.
“Nothing shocking,” you simply answer and luckily, you are next up at the bar. You ask for another cocktail and Harry chimes in, adding a beer to the order.
“I hope you know I won’t let you leave until you give me your number this time,” he smirks at you cheekily, making you chuckle.
“I never said I would give it to you.” Wanting to play a little you shrug innocently, earning a stunned look.
“Making me work for it? Alright,” he nods, trying his best to hold his grin back.
The bartender comes back with the drinks and Harry is quick to whip his card out and pay for yours as well. You’re not surprised when he follows you back to the booth to Sydney and Emma. They both greet you with bright smiles upon arriving with Harry.
“This is Sydney and Emma. Syd and I worked together a while ago. Ladies, this is—“ You start the introduction, but Sydney cuts you off quickly.
“Harry Styles. You don’t have to introduce him to us,” she chuckles shaking hand with the fourth guest at the table. “I was a big One Direction fan,” she adds with a chuckle and that’s a new information. As a former fan girl, she is holding herself quite alright in the presence of her idol.
“Oh, nice!” Harry beams, genuinely looking delighted at the information.
“Her playlists have at least one One Direction song on them still this day,” Emma laughs shaking her head, while Syd just shrugs innocently.
The four of you are quick to engage in a conversation about music, mostly about what you listened to when you were teenagers and you are having some laughs at the odd taste you all used to have.
“I think my most played song was Crazy by Britney Spears. I was obsessed with that song,” you admit and Emma groans throwing her hands in the air.
“I loved that song! Even learned the choreography!” she shares, making everyone laugh around the table.
“I bet you did too,” Harry grins in your way over his half empty beer.
“Totally did not,” you scoff with a pretentious grimace that makes it clear that you in fact did.
“I would give an arm to see you dance to that song,” he sighs with an amused grin and you just chuckle, taking another sip from your drink.
At one point Florence joins the booth, buzzing from all the birthday shots she’s been constantly taking, but making sure you all are having a good time.
“I see you guys met again!” she beams looking at you and Harry sitting next to each other. “Y/N, wanna hear something funny?” she smirks at you with glistening eyes.
“Always,” you chuckle softly.
“Once on set, I caught Harry stalking your Instagram.” The man in talk almost chokes on his beer as Florence starts laughing, clearly enjoying how she just busted her co-star, but you are having a blast at how nervous her comment got him and you find the story quite flattering.
“Flo, I think you had enough to drink,” Harry tells her, urging her to leave the booth, but she is way too caught up in getting him into trouble.
“Are you ashamed she now knows you were checking out her sexy photos for that perfume campaign she did last year?” she continues, giving away even more details. Your eyebrows run up as you look at Harry, who is desperately trying to avoid your burning gaze.
“Oh, so you’re a fond of my pictures?” you tease him, his cheeks turning redder with each passing moment.
“I mean… You looked really good.”
“And quite half naked, only covering myself with a huge perfume bottle,” you add chuckling, enjoying it probably a little too much than you should, but Harry has been so confident, flirting with you, it’s funny to see him so flustered all of a sudden.
Harry lets out a nervous chuckle, scratching the back of his neck while Florence taps his shoulder, saying something that sounded like ‘good luck, man’ before she moves over to the next group of people.
“I wasn’t stalking, your profile just popped up and—“
“Harry,” you stop him with a chuckle. “It’s fine, I was just messing with you.”
“Way to make me a wreck, Y/N,” he shoots you a narrow-eyed look, but you can see the smirk pulling on his lips.
“If it makes you feel better I checked your profile a few times too,” you admit and once again, he seems surprised.
“It does make me feel better,” he nods, his sly smirk growing wider with each passing moment he spends staring at you.
Though you’ve been enjoying the night so far you are running low on energy, so when you see it’s already past midnight you send a text to Lawrence letting him know you are planning to leave soon.
Luckily, Florence is at one of the booths near yours, so you excuse yourself from your table, walking over to her to say your goodbye.
“Leaving already?” she pouts, returning your hug.
“I’ve had a long day, I wouldn’t want to be the grumpy guest to ruin others’ night,” you tell her with an apologetic smile and she nods understanding.
“I’m happy I saw you. We need to do something sometime soon!”
“Sure thing. I’ll have a looser schedule in the upcoming months. Call me whenever you are around and free,” you tell her kissing her cheek and giving her hand a soft squeeze. “Happy birthday once more.” “Thank you babe!” she cheers as you let go of each other.
Walking back to your booth you say goodbye to Sydney and Emma, making the same promise to meet up with them sometime soon. When you turn to Harry he is already up on his feet and offers to walk you out.
“Just to the exit. There are a shit ton of paparazzi outside,” you tell him and he nods, placing a hand to your lower back, ushering you through the crowd. The two of you stop near the exit since Lawrence hasn’t replied to you that he has arrived and you definitely don’t want to wait outside.
“So, are you gonna leave without giving me your number this time as well?” he asks tilting his head to the side as he hides his hands in his pockets lazily.
“Maybe I’m just trying to see if fate is gonna throw you in my way again,” you tease him, but reach for your phone in your purse. “Send yourself a text,” you tell him handing him the device.
He doesn’t try to hide the satisfied grin as he types his number in and sends a quick text to himself so he has your number. Handing it back you just take it and check if Lawrence has texted you. Right at that moment the screen lights up with a short ‘I’ve arrived, Miss’ text and you slide the phone back into your purse.
“Well, it’s been nice seeing you again, Harry,” you say your goodbye and stepping closer you engage in a short, but tight hug.
“You too, Y/N,” he smiles down at you. “Never have I ever had the number of an Emmy nominated actress’ number,” he smirks making you laugh.
“Drink up, Styles,” you tell him cheekily before you walk away, out of the club.
Lawrence is parked right in front of the building and you try to shield your vision from all the flashes as you get into the back seat as fast as possible.
“Hello, Lawrence!” you greet the man in a very delighted mood and he senses the change in you.
“Had a great evening, Miss?” he asks as he leaves from the club and heads to your apartment’s building.
“I did,” you nod biting into your bottom lip. Reaching into your purse you pull your phone out to check the text Harry sent himself.
You can’t help the chuckle that leaves your mouth when you see the short message he sent to his contact that he just saved under Harry S.
“I promise I won’t ghost you.” That’s what the text reads and as you are looking at the conversation you see the bubble popping up that signals that he is typing right now.
“So nice of you. Please keep that promise!” His text appears on the screen and you chuckle under your breath.
“Cheeky.” You write back.
“Maybe, but now I have evidence. Don’t even try to put me on your ghosted list!”
“Will think about it…” you write back with a sly smile before you lock the phone and put it away, letting your head rest against the back of the seat, eyes closing as you can’t wipe the smile off your face.
It was a big day, well at least for Idia. After all it was his crush’s birthday! Scared and excited, he tried to prepare a gift for his beloved crush in secret.
︶✿︶︶✿︶︶✿︶︶✿︶︶✿︶︶✿︶︶✿︶
@teashopwritingzz I know I don’t have to do it, but I really really really wanted to give at least one small present to you! Because you totally deserve it!🥺❤️ Happy belated Birthday! I know that yesterday was your birthday, but I wasn‘t online yesterday due the post+ demonstration! D: I still hope that you had a wonderful day yesterday and today and the whole week! Stay safe and healthy too!!
Tumblr media
Idia took a deep breath, staring at the list of gift ideas that you might like, but a small voice back in his head kept telling him, that you would never like any of those gifts. “I’m sure that (Y/N) (L/N) will like it!” His younger brother always said, but the tall dorm leader of Ignihyde was still pouting at his thoughts. If you would reject any of those, you would also reject his feelings. It would be like a critical hit, getting it from the most greatest SSR character ever. “If you are still unsure, you can watch them. Maybe you will figure out what (Y/N) (L/N) will like.” Ortho advised his big bro, who glanced over his shoulder to the only person he might listen to at this very important situation. “Maybe you are right…” Idia’s gaze wandered from his brother to the list he had on his phone. Headphones, phonecases, games, books and more were listed on it, but would you liked them?
“Owww! My paw!” Grim cursed the ground, after he fell down from the bed, being accidentally pushed down by you. “Sorry, Grim.” Apologizing by petting him on the head and promising to give him a can of tuna later, he halfheartly accepted your apology, walking with you to school for another mayhap exciting school day. “I will only accept it, because it’s your birthday.” The cat-like friend of yours, fummed, watching the Heartslabyul duo walk into your direction to greet you and wish you a happy birthday. “Trey-senpai even baked a cake.” Deuce told you, getting elbowed by Ace, who groaned at him that the birthday party should be a surprise, only to spoil it himself. “A surprise party…? I’m probably not invited…” Idia watched the screen, his eyes never leaving you, hopeful to get any informations of what you might wish for, while his fingers tipped on his keyboard, coding something he always had on mind.
As you wrote on paper everything important professor Crewel told the class, Ace drummed with his finger on the table, while Grim was half sleeping next to you and Deuce tried his best to be a perfect student. “Hey, can you read the list of invited students later on? Did we invite every friend of yours?” Deuce whispered to you, getting harsh words of the professor for interrupting the lesson. But every time Crewel watched away, you read all names of your friends on it, only noticing that one name was missing. The person you wanted to see not only through screen. Idia Shroud. But maybe he couldn’t come over or doesn’t want to for being such a shy and yet adorable being.
Surprisingly the day went on like every other day. You laughed, had fun, talked to your friends and went to the Heartslabyul garden, while wearing shiny bright white clothes to show the whole school that it was indeed your birthday, like many other students had to wear on theirs. It was a bit embarrassing to talk with plenty of students about your birthday, but it still made you happy nonetheless, even when you still hoped to talk on specific student of NRC on this very day. But he didn’t came, so maybe you should get your little present from him by visiting Idia. “That’s a great party, guys. Thank you all so much, but I will be gone for a short time.” You smiled at your friends, watching them having fun, eating delicious food and talking to each other.
Idia yelped as he heard a knock on the door. Wasn’t everyone gone and having fun right now? Who was knocking on the door? Arguing with Ortho with mere stares, the younger Shroud walked to the door, opening it to your delight and Idia’s dismay, as he stared at the door opening more and more and then- oh no, by the great seven, was it truly you?! You were supposed to be at your party, having the time of your life with your dear friends and not be here! Why were you here?!
Like a good child, Ortho greeted you, standing next to the door to give you some space to walk through the door to Idia’s room. While you were smiling at the Shroud brothers, Idia was sitting on his chair, turning around to hide his blushing face that got warmer by every second you stood there and talked to Ortho. The tips of his hair and ears were dusted cheek and he was sure, that some might compare to him to fresh cherries!
“Sorry to disturb you-“ You started, getting interrupted by Ortho, who dragged you into the room, telling you that you would never disturb any of those two. “Oh… Uhm… Alright.” With the same smile that Idia fell for, your eyes stared at his back. Oh, how much you had wishes to hold the introverted boy in your embrace, pat him and give him the love and affection he deserved. “I-I-It’s… alright…” Idia sputtered and stuttered, trying to avoid your gaze in fear that you might tease him for having a crush on you. He just couldn’t help himself. You were such a lovely person. So nice, helpful and that smile. He could babble around, what a great person you were in his boring shut-in life. That you were like the light in his dark life. A total ultra super duper rare card in the gacha games he keeps playing, being frustrated that he couldn’t get those cards, but at least could look at them on photos. “Am I creepy…?” Idia mumbled to himself, forgetting your presence for a second until you asked him to repeat it, after not able to hear it. “N-Nothing!”
Fortunately or mayhap even unfortunately, Ortho knew of Idia’s feelings and how much he had took a liking towards you, which is why he had asked you, why you were in the Ignihyde dorm. “Oh… I wanted to get my present.” The blue-haired tall student turned around, nearly shrieking in fear that you figured out, that he wanted to give you a gift as well like plenty of your friends, who unfortunately had gifted you many presents he had listed a couple weeks ago. “My present would be… to spend more time with you, Idia.” Your gaze wandered to the ground as your cheeks got warmer by your mere words and wish you had, not realizing that Idia’s face was mirroring yours at the same time your words had left your mouth.
That was a gift that he would love to give you every day as long as you wanted to have him by his side. His mouth opened slightly, wanting to talk, before you had asked him what he was programming right now as you took a look at the codes, ignoring the fact that a humming Ortho left the room, so he might not disturb you two love birds. “A g-game… I’m trying to make a small game I had in mind for quite some time.” He answered, staring at it once again.
“Have you finished it already?“ The bluehead nodded. “May I play it?” Mumbling a few words here and there, Idia hoped that his hair hide his flustered face, but he nonetheless let you sit next to him and play his selfmade game, even though he feared that you would reach the end of it and find out about his big secret he never wanted to reveal to you.
“Another level up. Great!~” You cheered, playing the rpg of Idia’s even though your friends might miss you during your birthday party. You should get back, but you couldn’t stop playing the game, after all you has nearly reach the endboss! “Is that a giant cat? He reminds me of Grim.” You chuckled, trying to defeat the endboss with the spells of the protagonist named Hadia. It was a cute game.
The plot of it was like plenty of other rpgs. The protagonist Hadia, a royal guy fell in love with Readi, a sweet princess who got kidnapped by the evil cat-monster Grimopy. Grimopy tried to be the strongest wizard and king and had plenty of henchmen like Dice and Acepo, which were quite strong enemies. Hadia had to train a lot and even gained the help of different wizards like Lio, a sleepy lion, Otto, a cute robot. Then there were Ralice, Tri, Phone-Addicted Rabbit, who still had no name, because Idia couldn’t find a good fitting name for the character. Marteus, Kala, Azure and many other characters and all of them reminded you of your friends. That meant that Hadis was probably Idia and the lovely princess Readi was… you. “Cute game.” You whispered to yourself, using the last spell to defeat the boss, watching the end scene of the rpg.
Hadis was rushing through the castle until he found his beloved princess. When he leaned down to kiss her awake with the kiss of true love, she woke up and they confessed their loves, swearing to each other to be together forever until they lives will end.
“I think I have a new ship.” You giggled, pointing at the protagonists, while you looked at Idia, the blushing mess. “I’m really glad that they are together. They are perfect and cute together. So sweet. I hope that my Hadis likes me as much as he does…” You commented, shutting his computer down, while Idia clenched his fists, knowing that you finally know about his feelings. “Come. We have to go to a party, Idia.” You smiled at the marveled dorm leader. “P-Party?!” Faster than he could expect it, you grabbed his hand in yours, pulling him away from his room towards the garden of the Heartslabyul dorm. “Oh, I like you too, my Hadis.” - “I-I like you too… my Readi.” With the other hand of his, he tried to hide his red face as you chuckled at him, happy that you finally can call him yours.
they say there is a war between the man and the woman
he had witnessed it all, the great suffering, the fire burning brightly at every corner of what seemed to be the world... he had lived for almost two thousand years. xiao can never miss a thing, him, a monster, a devourer of dreams, an untamed beast, enslaved on what he thought was freedom.
i've never felt like this before my heart knew that i couldn't
suddenly one day, it felt like the stinging strings attached to his limbs broke free... and he breath an extra breathe, all thanks to rex lapis.
and then you take me in and everything in me begins to feel like a belong like everybody needs a home
he wouldn't be lying when he thought you were such a hindrance when you first met, quite annoying and too stubborn... you would always flock together with the funeral parlor director and cause mischief that not even him can stop...
you were annoying, very annoying, how that (stupid) smile of yours never fail to ignore his presence, whenever you walked or ran in his direction... what were you trying to do anyways?
why does your smile feel warm...
and when i take your hand like the world has never held a man
there wasn't a time where you try to invade what seemed to be his personal space, it being 3 meters... you would sometimes stick to his side like you were moulded together and he can't do anything about it, he would push you away, he'd fail, and you will succeed.
i know i cannot heal the hurt but i will hold you here forever if i can, if i can
he can't stop thinking about you, maybe because you are the reason for him to committ mass murder of such but also because of something else, sometimes when you are near he'd stomach would grumble, it didn't felt bad surprisingly, it felt... pleasant.
but not as pleasant when you held his hand for a few seconds, for the first time — he could see luminous stars.
and then i learned the truth how everything good in life seems to lead back to you
the feeling on his stomach gets worse and worse everyday, he tried to eat anything he can to aid whatever it is, it wasn't hunger, he was always full, and it never seemed to go away.
he would always feel this way whenever you are around and he would sneer at you sometimes.
were you trying to hex him?!
he asked zhongli about this before, but the man before him would simply shake his head and suggest that something else is happening, something else is happening, he was losing his sanity, what the hell is it?
he'd become so desperate for help that he had to ask hu tao about it, it was a bad idea honestly... he wouldn't go into details about what she said; even ganyu... yet she doesn't even know who, or what is causing this.
that leaves him with the traveler, aether said he might be... in love, xiao raised his eyebrows at him, even paimon agreed... him? in love? since when? why? how? what?
he asked for help on how to settle it. both of the outlanders agreed...
and every single time i run into your arms i feel like i exist for love
your smile, your touch, it was something else, everytime you do almost anything it always seemed as if things were getting better... better and better everyday.
maybe... maybe...
your touch feels like love, this is love...
i can't imagine how it is to be forbidden from loving
xiao promised to himself to never love again like he did before, because it led to nothing but his will to live withering away.
but now was a different case, a different time, a different love... theres harm... in trying again, but can you even possibly try to hurt him? all you did was make everything... great again...
he has the ability to do so, to try again, xiao always thought of this, to start again.
maybe this time it will get better, he couldn't imagine himself without love, whenever you're near.
'cause when you walked into my life i could feel my life begin
the best part of him existing was laying his eyes on you...
finally...
he was thankful, he'd thank the archons, because of them, xiao would be able to exist and get a sight of you, the only thing left and added into his life.
and every single time i run into your arms i feel like i exist for love
you were confused on as to why he started to tell you more about him, it's always usually you, blabbering about nonsense... the only thing you know about him before is that he liked this food and that.
you were confused on the way he looks at you that way, it wasn't as scary as before, it feels comfortable
you're his sight to behold...
and when you say my name like white horses on the waves
you were now baffled by all of this — he'd hold your hands sometimes, he'd put a hand on your waist sometimes, he'd stroke your hair sometimes... he'd hold you all the time and you don't know why, but don't have to know why it all felt pleasant.
before, he would spat your name like a venomous susbtance, you're used to it, but now it trickles like honey, and you enjoyed your name being called out by him.
i think it feels the same as an ocean in my veins and you'll be diving in like nothing is out of place
you are up the balcony in wangshu inn as usual... waiting for the adepti to come and talk about anything in here as usual, verr goldet is used to both of your presence here and she honestly don't care as much, as long as you don't burn the inn down, given by the infamous name you would carry along the harbour and your close friend busy burying that one zombie kid from the pharmacy.
looking back at jueyun karst... you had always wanted to go there but couldn't, you will forever be curious of what lies there... maybe you'll have to ask xiao, and maybe he'd take you there if he's in the mood.
you heard a silent cough and looked back at the sound, you gave the adepti a warm smile. and he looked anywhere but you.
how curious.
xiao walked towards you and faced you, and you both stare at each other, not trying to talk or even do anything.
"y/n..." you flinched for a second because of his voice. "uhhhh yes xiao" you inquired silently, you feel nervous all of a sudden. "our bond is too strong to be ignored, i am certain that you can sense it yourself, this is new to me, i am not used to this situation at all..."
what is he talking about? your bond? what's with it? you hoped he wasn't trying to part ways with you when all you wanted was to befriend him, he always seemed to be lonely and always hid it bitterly from the world to see, but you can see through him.
and you know, he just needs someone to be there for him... and that is you... if he was trying to get rid of you, he'd atleast have to try harder, but then again, you'd always stick to his side.
"xiao... i refuse to part ways—"
"—i like you"
this was not what you expected, he wasn't being specific, you tried your hardest not to choke on your own spit.
"i... like you too?" it sounded more like a question than an adamant answer. "no." he shook his head, and sneered, he held your hands roughly and you were one sweat away from collapsing to the ground. what is happening
"you are my desire... i think that's the adequate word..."
and we exist for love only for love
those words felt good on his tongue, and they felt good in your ears... you let out a relief sigh and he gave you a confused look. you quickly dismissed it with a laugh, and he raised both his eyebrows slowly, expecting an answer from you...
you slowly took your hands from his grasps and placed them on his cheeks.
everything was blissful, a feeling inside of you kindles, you had always liked him.
"of course, me too xiao..."
he hesitantly enveloped you into a hug and you gladly hugged back.
maybe you'll bring the topic about going to jueyun karst with him next time, right now, you just want to stay like this.
and i love you, i love you, i love you and i love you, i love you, i love you
how to calm down an angry billionaire
Step 1. Deflect.
Peter was good at deflection. Always had been. It was a skill he'd picked up after people constantly tried to ask him about his feelings after his parents died, then again when Ben died. Any questions he didn't want to answer quickly turned into an animated conversation about whatever his mind thought of first (there had been that awkward time he'd asked a fellow orphan how their parents were), an apology and fast excuse to get the hell out of there (mostly worked except when he was panicking and the best he could come up with was a cheese making competition, that had caused a lot of questions Peter would rather never deal with again), or just flat out running away (sometimes he ran into poles or walls which was always a bit embarrassing given he was literally Spider-man). Sometimes Peter had to use all three options. So Peter knew when Tony finally decided to have the dreaded conversation about the whole not-my-first-time-holding-up-a-building thing, he would be able to deflect it. Or so he thought. Turns out, Peter had drastically underestimated the sheer stubbornness of Tony Stark.
It was a lab day, around three weeks after the incident where Peter and Tony had been stuck under a building and Peter stupidly let slip that he’d held up a building before. Peter had thought Tony had forgotten about his words. He was comfortable, tentatively confident and optimistic that it wouldn't be brought up again. He had no idea how wrong he was.
"Hey kid?" Tony said, cutting the comfortable silence between them as they worked, tone slightly hesitant. Peter should've picked up on it. He should've realised. But he'd grown complacent. So Peter ignored the dread pooling in his stomach and lifted his head from the mess of wires in front of him to look at Tony.
"Mr Stark?" he replied with a smile that Tony didn't return. Nor did he try to tell Peter to call him Tony. And that was how Peter knew something was wrong. Nerves skittered down his spine, clod fingers of dread snaking around his neck as nervous energy filled him and he began to tap on the desk. Anything to distract himself from the sorrow and worry shining in his mentor's brown eyes.
"Look kid, uh, I," Tony fumbled for words. Shit. This was bad. If Tony Stark was struggling to say something, you knew it was serious. Peter just stared at him in silence,unsure of what to say, anxiety coursing through his veins at the grimace that clouded Tony's features. What could possibly have gotten him into this mood? Had Peter done something wrong? Was he gonna, oh god, was he gonna take the suit? "Pete, I need to know what you meant when we were under the building," Tony finally managed to say, Peter relaxing. Oh. That was all?
"I just meant that I'd lifted a lot of heavy things," Peter half-lied, looking Tony straight in the eyes and lying to his face, mindful to make sure his tells were carefully under control. Training with Daredevil - despite Tony's misgivings about Double D - had been one of the best decisions Peter had ever made. He felt a twinge of guilt as he lied to Tony but it's not like he could tell the truth. And he wasn't really lying. Just withholding the entire truth. He shrugged nonchalantly, "Anyways, you reckon you can help me with this? I'm stuck. My mind kinda decided to go and die on me." Peter chuckled quietly. Tony wasn't laughing.
"I want to believe you, kid," Tony told him, "I really do. But I can't. You had a panic attack under there. What aren't you telling me Peter? Whatever it is, I'm here for you. You can tell me anything. And I don't want to pressure you into telling me anything until you're ready but I-I just-I need to know what happened. I need to know what you meant." Peter's resolve almost broke as Tony's voice broke. No. He couldn't tell Tony. Not only would Tony think he was weak, but Peter knew that Mr Stark would blame himself because he took the suit. Peter couldn't let him do that. Option one had failed him, so it was onto option 2. Make a quick exit without raising any suspicions. Yeah, he didn't think that was gonna work. Worth a shot though.
"Hey, Mr Stark," Peter said after checking his watch and pretending to look shocked at the time, "I'm really sorry but I have to go. I promised Ned we'd work on our Bio project tonight and I'm already seven minutes late." Mr Stark raised an eyebrow and pulled up a picture of Ned on his holiday in California.
"Nice try kid," Tony replied drily. Peter sighed, shoulders slumping. Time for option three then.
"I-I don't really know how to tell you, uh," Peter deliberately stuttered, guilt eating him up inside as he put on an act for Tony. For option three to work, Peter had to catch Tony off guard otherwise he'd react too quickly and lock the tower down. His act work, Tony's features softening and body relaxing.
"It's okay, bambino, take your time." And if that didn't make him feel like a horrible person, nothing would. Peter stood and padded over to some machinery near the exit, pretending to be trying to busy himself as he worked himself up to answering Tony when he was actually getting closer to the door.
"I, uh," Peter stumbled. Tony was now far away enough that Peter could easily run without being grabbed and stopped. The door was right there. Peter took his opportunity. He ran. Out the door, down the hallway, flying to the elevator. Pressing the button frantically, Peter groaned when nothing happened. Great. Tony had stopped the elevators. Sighing, Peter pulled the mask from his pocket and pulled it over his head, sprinting at the window. Peter burst through the window in a shower of glass, activating his web shooters as he fell, quickly shooting a web and catching himself. And he was swinging, swinging, swinging. Allowing himself to smile at his escape, Peter was unprepared when he was grabbed from behind by two cold metal hands. Thanks for nothing spidey sense. Tony flew a sulking Peter back through the broken window and into one of the meeting rooms, setting him down firmly in a seat. Peter crossed his arms, pouting as he pulled off his mask, Tony's Iron Man suit unfolding around him and the man stepping out, an unimpressed look painted across his features.
"You done deflecting yet?" Tony asked, a single eyebrow raised. Damn. Peter wished he could do that. Alas, no amount of practising in front of a mirror had ever given him the talent to lift one eyebrow and not look like a demented monkey. Time for a different strategy. Deflection had failed him. But Peter would not go down easy.
~~~
Step 2. Deny.
The unfortunate thing about this step was that Peter would always over-deny. He would deny everything or nothing. There was no in between. For example, he was once denying eating the last bit of chocolate and ended up accidentally telling May his name wasn't Peter and that he was an alien from outer space with a severe lettuce allergy. Don't ask. Peter really didn't want to relive that trauma. So although Peter always tried his best with denial, it never really worked out in his favour. Honestly, it was through sheer dumb luck that he managed to keep Spider-Man a secret from his friends and family for so long. It was probably some good karma that had been waiting for the perfect moment to help him out. It was a little late but hey, better late than never right?
"No," Peter blurted in a panic. Shock splashed across Tony's face as he folded his arms.
"Kid, you know you can tell me anything, right?" Tony told him gently.
"No," Peter exclaimed again, hurt painting the billionaire's face. "I mean, yes." Shitshitshitshitshit. Peter was an idiot. He had to deny everything - but not everything, Peter, remember the lettuce incident - so Mr Stark wouldn't find out. But Peter had always been shit at denial.
"Look, I know this is probably hard for you to talk about," Tony continued on, oblivious to Peter's internal panic, "but I won't judge you. I love you, bambino. You know that right? And I'll support you no matter what but I can't help you if you don't let me."
"No," Peter said. It was the only word he knew. Any more and he would have another lettuce incident or he'd end up rambling the truth. He couldn't do that. So his current vocabulary was limited to 'no', 'no', 'no' with a side of 'no'. Which wasn't suspicious at all. Totally.
"What the hell, kid?" Tony asked, mostly confused, slight irritation colouring his tone. Peter was hyper-aware of the thundering beat his heart was drumming to, the way Tony's slightly picked up when he said 'no', the sweat covering his body like a second skin. Tony's sigh sounded like a bomb to his sensitive ears, the sharp intake of breath before he spoke like a blaring alarm. "What did you mean when you said it wasn't your first time?"
"I didn't," Peter responded, brain not quite computing, "nothing happened." Tony's gaze narrowed. Shit. Was Tony going to take the suit if he didn't tell him? But Peter just couldn't tell him. He couldn't.
"Fucking hell Peter, just tell me dammit!" Tony exclaimed, running a hand through his messy brown hair in frustration. Peter knew - with the certainty that he knew his own name or the colour of his eyes - that denial had failed him. Time for Peter's next strategy.
~~~
Step 3. Stretch the truth.
When Peter's other strategies failed him, he turned to stretching the truth. It was simple really, just take the truth and dial it down from boiling hot to freezing cold and give it to the person on a silver platter with a charmingly innocent - and only slightly nervous - smile. Half-truths were easy to fool people with. Someone had said that the best lies were the ones based on truth. Peter couldn't remember who exactly had said that. He had never been very good with that sort of stuff, unlike MJ. So although stretching the truth was Peter's third option, he'd always been surprisingly good at it. People seemed to believe he was too innocent to be able to lie. Which was absurd because he'd spent ten years living with his Aunt and her terrible cooking and she still didn't know he hated her walnut date loaf.
"Okay," Peter conceded quietly and the rage slowly left Tony as he deflated like a balloon, looking smaller without all the fury. Peter sat down in front of Tony. "It was back in the fight with The Vulture and he threw a wall at me. I caught it and threw it back at him but he dodged it with his super awesome flying skills." Tony looked him straight in the eyes for a few seconds, Peter holding his gaze before Tony leaned forward.
"Cut the bullshit," Tony whispered, dangerously quiet, tightly compressed anger stemming from worry swimming in his brown eyes. "A wall wouldn't stay together if it was thrown, caught and thrown back. Even then, you wouldn't say it wasn't your first time while holding a building up unless you'd held up a fucking building already. And you wouldn't have a panic attack from holding up a building about something thrown at you. So stop lying to me, Peter Benjamin Parker." Damn. The full name. Peter released a heavy exhale, knowing he was beaten. He had to tell Mr Stark the truth.
"It actually was in the fight with the Vulture," Peter began, "so I wasn't lying about that. And I did have to catch a few walls." Tony raised his eyebrows at Peter's weak attempts at defending himself. "I went to his warehouse and he sent his flying suit at me. It wasn't particularly good at attacking 'cause it hadn't even touched me. I said that and Toomes told me it wasn't trying to." Tony inhaled sharply, clasping his hands together to stop them from shaking, Peter trying not to listen to how Tony's hands still hit each other gently. Enhanced hearing sucked sometimes. "He had directed the suit to take out all the supports in the building." Tony gasped, expression contorted into one of such extreme guilt and sorrow that Peter wanted to shelter Tony from the world for the rest of his days because goddammit he's seen too much and been through enough and couldn't the world just give him a fucking break for once? No one deserved one more than Mr Stark did.
"I took the suit," Tony whispered, voice thick with emotion, "I took the suit. It was your only protection, damn it, and I took the fucking suit!" Tony was yelling now, self-hatred and rage dancing in his wild brown eyes.
"It wasn't your fault, Mr Stark," Peter tried to tell him.
"How?" Tony scoffed, laughing bitterly, "How was this not my fault. I took the suit and you got hurt because of my mistake."
"It's okay, Mr Stark, you didn't know," Peter said.
"But I should've," Tony replied, "I should've known." Peter's features hardened, spine turning to steel. He wouldn't let Mr Stark blame himself for this. The blame was on Toomes and only on Toomes.
"Did you pilot the Vulture suit?" Peter asked firmly.
"What?"
"Did. You. Pilot. The. Vulture. Suit." Peter repeated, staring defiantly at Tony.
"No, of course not," Tony replied, slight confusion clinging to his features.
"And did you cause the building to fall?" he continued.
"No."
"Then it's not your fault," Peter told him simply.
"Kid, I shouldn't have taken the suit," Tony began, dropping his head into his hands. He opened his mouth to continue but Peter cut him off before he could say anything equally self-deprecating.
"Maybe," Peter allowed, "but then I wouldn't found out I was strong enough to get back up again. 'If you're nothing without the suit then you shouldn't have it'. You told me that. I thought the suit made Spider-man and I lost sight of what Spider-man really meant. God, I started out in a fricking onesie. That's what Spider-man represents. Not a hero with a multi-million dollar suit, but someone with nothing but their will to save others. Without you taking the suit, I never would've remembered everything Spider-man stood for.; With great power comes great responsibility. You gave me that tough love moment and I needed it. Now it's my turn to dish out some tough love for you." Peter took a deep breath. "You, Tony Stark, are being a fucking idiot. The blame of what happened in the past lies with Adrian Toomes, and Adrian Toomes alone. So stop this self-deprecating bullshit and use your fucking brain for once in your life. It. Was. Not. Your. Fault." Tony looked up at him, the self-hatred drained from his features, a slight smile adorning his lips which Peter returned.
"You're right, kid," Tony said, "when did you get this wise?"
"I've always been this wise, Mr Stark, I just wanted you to feel better about your lack of common sense," Peter joked, Tony chuckling.
"It wasn't my fault," Tony repeated. Peter tilted his head, confused at the strange undertone in Tony's voice only to see a fire lit in his caramel eyes. "I'm going to kill that son of a bitch."
And it was then that he knew he fucked up.
~~~
Step 4. Try some breathing exercises.
Peter had always been shit at breathing exercise. He just didn't have the patience for them. While he was breathing, someone could be getting raped in an alley, a shop could be getting robbed, or a kid could be getting beat up. So - despite the constant reminders to just try the damn breathing exercises for the love of god - Peter had never done anything of the sort. How could he? With his enhanced senses, it was impossible to relax. Would you be able to sit there and breathe while screams rang in your ears and sobbing pounded in your mind? Naturally, this meant that Peter wasn't the most experienced when it came to said breathing exercises. Maybe he should've practised. Life always had a funny way of throwing Peter in the deep end headfirst and tied to a ten ton weight and expecting him to swim. However, he had once read in a self-help book that breathing exercises were good for calming people down, so he decided to hit fuck it for the sixth time in the last 48 hours and try it out. I mean, it was that or release an angry billionaire in a metal suit decked out with the most advanced weapons in the world (except for maybe what HYDRA had because honestly Peter knew better than to underestimate them and he mildly respected their cockroach-like survival skills) who was hell-bent on revenge and gave zero fucks into the world. The second option was beginning to sound quite tempting, Peter would be honest.
"Mr Stark, you need to calm down," Peter told the man gently, placing a hand on Tony's shoulder. Tony tilted his head up to look at Peter - rage splashed across his face, tension lining his body - before he shrugged off Peter's hand and jerked into a standing position. And the room was suffocating, suffocating, suffocating, because damn had Tony always been that scary. A cloud of darkness surrounded Tony, filling the lab up and winding itself slowly around Peter's neck, stealing the breath from his lungs. Tony stormed through the lab, footsteps like thunder, anger crackling like lightning. Desperately, Peter followed the billionaire. "Mr Stark, Mr Stark, please calm down," Peter pleaded with him.
"No," Tony spoke, voice cold and flat, tone totally devoid of emotion, so totally opposite to the fury painting his entire body like a second skin. "No I will not calm down, Peter. He dropped a fucking building on you. He deserves to die."
"But you don't deserve to live with the guilt of killing him," Peter begged, tugging at Tony's sleeve in a desperate attempt to stop the man from his warpath. Peter knew he could easily overpower Tony. But he was hoping it wouldn't come to that. "Trust me, I know how it feels to want revenge, I really do, but you have to let it go. Please, Mr Stark."
"Dammit Peter, he hurt you!" Tony shouted, whirling around to face Peter, features twisted and manically furious. "He hurt you a-and I wasn't there and you had to deal with being crushed by a fucking building and then you got up and kept fighting because of that sick son of a bitch so I swear to fucking god I will murder him." Tony's eyes held a frenzied wildness in them, chest heaving up and down, Peter could hear his heart racing.
"Mr Stark, try some breathing," Peter said out of desperation, completely and utterly out of ideas. "Just breath. In and out, in and out." Tony's momentary surprise shocked him out of his anger, confusion flickering across his face momentarily before the anger was back, stronger than ever. Tony pivoted on his heel and walked away from Peter, heading towards where he kept his suits and leaving a heavy sense of dread pooling in Peter's stomach and twisting his insides in knots. So breathing hadn't worked. Thanks for nothing self-help books.
~~~
Step 5. Hack the most advanced AI in the world.
When in doubt, do something potentially illegal. A mugger had once told Peter that after Peter caught her trying to rob a young man. That lady had been fucking badass. It was honestly a shame she's gone to prison but a criminal is a criminal. Turns out the lady had been responsible for a string of high-end bank and jewellery robberies. Peter wondered how she was doing. Probably not well, considering how shit the American jail system is. Peter always tried to find alternative ways to stop criminals, only really sending in the pedophiles, rapists, murderers and the more professional robbers. Sometimes people had no choice in the shitty hand life had dealt them and goddamn if Peter didn't get that. People were just pushed and pushed until they were left with nothing but desperation. Maybe if the government or any of the fucking American systems were better or did their jobs properly then people wouldn't have to steal just to keep themselves and their families from starvation. Maybe Toomes wouldn't have started his alien tech business and then none of this would have even happened. Peter wouldn't be in this situation right now. And Peter was now out of options. He had an angry billionaire on his hands and absolutely no idea what to do. So, he took the lady's advice and decided to do something potentially illegal. He hacked the most advance AI in the world. (What, like it's hard?)
"Hey FRI?" Peter called with a wince.
"Yes, Peter," the AI replied.
"I'm really sorry," Peter told her before bringing up FRIDAY's code. (A/N - I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT COMPUTERS SO THIS IS GONNA BE SOME VAGUE, QUESTIONABLE AF HACKING) Fingers flying across the keys of the laptop, Peter bit his lip in concentration, brows furrowed. He had to hurry and shut down Mr Stark's suits before he reached them and left to murder Toomes. Adrenaline coursed through his body, brain whirring to life like the computer before him as he deleted lines of code, rewriting and altering the code that created FRIDAY as he tore down the firewalls Mr Stark had built. Peter vaguely registered that this was probably illegal and that Mr Stark would most definitely be mad about this later but he quickly waved the thoughts away. He didn't have time for them, he didn't have time, he didn't have time. Barely registering what he was doing, Peter submerged himself into the world of numbers, immersing himself completely in the ocean of lines of code, fingers instinctively knowing what t do as though he'd been born to hack. Again, probably not a great thing that this was so easy. But computers had always made sense to Peter. After what felt like hours but was really only a few minutes, Peter was into FRIDAY's system. And with a few taps, Peter shut down the suits. Quickly exiting the browser, Peter dropped his head into his hands. He'd done it. With a long exhale, Peter relaxed, leaning back into his chair and running his shaking hands through his hair. An enraged roar broke the peaceful quiet surrounding Peter and he squeezed his eyes shut. Maybe if he ignored it, Mr Stark's anger would go away. He couldn't deal with this shit. Peter was too young to die.
"Peter Benjamin Parker I swear to fucking god-"
"You probably shouldn't fuck god, Mr Stark," Peter couldn't resist remarking with a shit-eating grin. "People might get a bit mad. And who knows, you may even end up pregnant which I can't imagine will be very fun."
"What the fuck?" Tony whispered into the silence that followed Peter's statement. "I don't even want to know what goes on in your brain." Peter hummed in agreement. To be honest, he had no idea what was going on up there half the time. He was just along for the ride. And hey, if it distracted Mr Stark from his anger then it was a win win situation right? (How Peter won in this scenario he didn't know but he didn't question it).
"It's the trauma," Peter replied flippantly, as casual as one would be if they were discussing the weather.
"The-" Tony broke off into angry, confused gibberish that Peter didn't even try to decipher. Crisis averted. Now to deal with the aftermath.
~~~
Step 6. Watch a movie.
Peter Parker wasn't good with emotions. Being a socially awkward sixteen-year-old genius had that effect on a person. Not to mention the fact that he had a crime-fighting, sarcastic alter ego. Yeah, he wasn't great with feelings. Especially not his own. And now he was attempting to help Mr Stark clam down after the whole Toomes-dropping-a-building-on-him-reveal thing. And the only way an emotionally stunted teenage genius superhero knew how to help an emotionally stunted adult genius superhero was something most people would not class as a healthy coping mechanism. Distraction. Preferably with a movie.
"Hey Mr Stark, wanna watch Empire Strikes Back?" Peter asked. Tony fell into a confused silence which Peter took as an agreement. "Yes? Perfect, let's go." Grabbing Tony's arm, Peter tugged him out of the lab and into the elevator, confusion splashed across Tony's features as they entered the movie room. Peter dropped onto the expensive yet incredibly comfortable couch in the centre of the room, pulling Tony down beside him. "Hey FRI? Can you please play The Empire Strikes Back."
"Certainly, Peter," FRIDAY replied, a hint of warmth in her robotic voice. The Star Wars theme filled the room, Peter lips kicking up into a smile at the familiar sound. And as the movie played, Peter reciting every single line with the characters, he felt the rage and tension slowly drain out of his mentor as he relaxed.
"Hey, kid," Tony whispered, interrupting Luke and Darth Vader's showdown. "I sorry for getting angry. I just... I just didn't know what to do. Instead of asking if you were okay I blamed myself and wanted to frigging murder a guy who's already suffering in prison."
"It's okay, Mr Stark," Peter responded with a smile, sincerity gracing his tone. "I get it. After Ben died, I found his murderer. I almost killed the guy," Peter chuckled without humour, Tony watching him with sad eyes, the movie forgotten. "Point is, I know how it feels to want revenge. Don't apologise for being human."
"You really are the best of us all, kid," Tony remarked, a smile adoring his face, features relaxed as he looked at Peter.
"I learned from the best," Peter replied with a shrug.
"Thanks, kid," Tony said, throat tight with emotion.
"I meant May," Peter joked lightly, the heavy emotion clouding the room vanishing as Tony laughed.
"Are you okay, kid?" Tony asked, seriousness settling over them again.
"Honestly?" Peter responded, "no. But that's alright. Because I will be." Peter held Tony's gaze, warmth blossoming in his chest at his mentor's caring eyes, as Darth Vader's voice filled the room.
"No, I am your father," Darth Vader spoke. Peter turned back to the movie, watching as Luke jumped and fell.
"You're gonna be okay, kid," Tony whispered, "we're both gonna be okay."
Because Peter would be okay. So Tony was okay too.
And if Pepper walked in three hours later to find them curled up against each other, fast asleep she never said anything. (She got FRIDAY to take a photo and saved it to Irondad and Spiderson - an unsurprisingly large file. She should probably get Peter to do a DNA test. They did look rather similar)
