I’m not ready.

I signed up for Tumblr too soon. I still live with ableist and transphobic family, who don’t know about my name changes or my ADHD/anxiety/depression diagnoses. I’m scared I’m going to post something that’s going to give myself away, if I haven’t already.

I’m going to take a week-long break from Tumblr (more if I need it). I need to work on calming my nerves before posting..

I’m so tired.

I’m tired of how normalized ableism towards neurodiverse people is. Not just from neurotypicals, but from our own community.

I’m tired of people using the R-slur.

I’m tired of people mocking our stims.

I’m tired of people making fun of our special interests and how invested we are in them.

I’m tired of people comparing us to little kids.

I’m tired of people yelling at us for forgetting things more easily than most.

I’m tired of people yelling at us for being unable to retain as much information as most.

I’m tired of people saying they hate their neurodiverse kids.

I’m tired of people saying they’d genetically modify their kids to remove neurodiversity.

I’m tired of people saying they’d rather avoid vaccinating; they’d rather let their kids get sick and die than be neurodiverse.

This is just everything I can name off the top of my head.

And we need to grow up?

I’m just tired of people in general at this point.

EDIT: I was talking specifically about Battlestation's Purple Coins. I didn't realize you could stand on a stationary platform and wait for a moving one to come back, so you can catch a purple coin you missed. There's also apparently a hidden launch star that will take you back to the start if you missed any coins.

That being said, the whole galaxy's painful to play to varying degrees. Calm down, Nintendo.

I don't understand tests.

People say they're testing our intelligence, but I don't think that's quite true. I think they test your memory more than anything, which isn't fair to people with conditions/disabilities that cause memory issues.

For example, I have ADHD and anxiety. Because of that, I've forgotten how to answer certain questions on multiple occasions. I'm also often drained by the end of tests, so even if I go back to review the answers I wrote, I don't catch everything. Then after the fact, I realized I should've written something else.

Mind you, I also have such accommodations as quieter environments and extra time, but those don't solve the ADHD/anxiety/exhaustion-induced memory issues. To be fair, I also don't have medication, but the people I live with don't know about my conditions and I don't want to out myself to them. You never know what a student's going through.

I think if schools aren't going to dismantle tests altogether, they should at least let students email their teachers that they remember how to solve a question ASAP. They should be given another chance to correct their mistakes before getting the tests back.

Otherwise, students shouldn't write a test at the same time. We're not robots; there's a very slim chance that we're going to learn at the same rate. I wish we could write tests when we know we're ready, even if it means taking longer to move to the next grade.

It's not worth the stress. We need to actually start valuing mental health over grades.

we do not talk enough about how you get hit front and back by being a jew and supporting Palestine. For a recipe that i want to make during Shabbat I have to scroll through a jewish recipe blog and cringe at the I Stand With Israel posts and then go back.

I don't mean to be rude, I'm just autistic. It's right there in my bio. I get cadence and tone wrong sometimes, I misunderstand social cues, I laugh inappropriately, I can be painfully direct, and I’m embarrassingly earnest sometimes, but I genuinely don't ever want or mean to upset anyone, or make folks feel uncomfortable. Do tell me if I've upset you, and I promise I'll do my best to improve and not make the same mistake again. If you think I'm being rude, I can guarantee that's not my intention, and I would truly appreciate correction from you because I honest to goodness have no idea that what I've said or done could be construed that way.

☕ My favourite hot drink is hot chocolate. I've always been a sucker for sweet things and it always makes me feel nostalgic for some reason.

🐈‍⬛ I'm probably biased since I've grown up mostly around dogs, but I'd still have to say dogs. Cats are a close second, though.

📺 (Favorite Show): I haven't watched TV in a hot minute. But, last time I watched it regularly, my favorite show was Scooby-Doo Yes I'm in my 20s and still watch Scooby-Doo, it's a comfort show when I have a bad day-.

🎬 (Fav Movie): It's GOTTA be the Super Mario Bros. Movie. What kind of Mario blog would I be if I didn't like the movie? (/j, I know not EVERYONE is going to like it, I'm just being dramatic-)

However, contrary to what I've heard from other people online, I actually really enjoyed the '93 live action movie too! Even though they snubbed my girl in the movie this time, though, I definitely like the new one more. I also liked the live-action Scooby-Doo movies, of course, but, hey, this is a Mario blog, I have to answer Mario. (again, just being dramatic-)

📚 (Fav Book): Oof, it's ALSO been a while since I've had time to read anything-

I guess if I had to pick one, I think there was one called The Red Queen that I read back in middle/high school, and I loved the heck out of it. There's a psychology book I've been meaning to get my hands on recently, though (I'm a Psych minor, it's a thing I'm interested in-). It's been sitting here on my shelf for months and I just haven't had the time to read it because of nursing school-
