Flufftober — Day 11: Fate Keeps Bringing them Together.
Pairing: Max Goof / Yakko Warner.

Fate sometimes decided to create two like-minded souls, or had a soul that it really liked and decided to give it a companion for all eternity.
No matter what it was, souls would always look for each other, they would always look for that companion who was made for them.
Although, fate couldn't control everything, it couldn't control what these kindred souls would be like in each life and although they were destined to be together, sometimes that could be their own undoing. Like lovers who had the misfortune of being born in bodies that society did not consider compatible, or one of them having mishaps and not being able to reach the other in time, sometimes even their own love went awry and dragged the other into an unhappy and premature life.
But, there were also these souls like-minded, they called them soul mates, because no matter the circumstances or the environment, these souls found a way to love and complete each other in each life.
Yakko Warner and Max Goof were soulmates.
In each life, their souls managed to find each other and give each other the love they cultivated and nurtured together.
Sometimes it was pretty easy, like being a suburban kid and a retired actor who met by chance.
Sometimes, it took time, like being a lost heir and a noble with a big heart.
Sometimes it was difficult, like being two actors from rival studios whose families had a bad reputation for each other and opinions to give.
Sometimes, it was a little unfortunate, like a cursed prince and a forgotten childhood love.
But no matter what they were, their souls managed to find each other, and then all it took was a look. A look to recognize oneself among a whole sea of souls. A look to know that it is where he belonged, there with that other half that they loved before and that they will love once again.
And that love would be so strong, that when their bodies shut down, love would be what would guide them again in the next life.

Flufftober — Day 08: Cooking / Baking them Together.

One of the many times Max spent the day at the water tower with Yakko and his siblings, they planned to make brownie cookies together.
This was something they both liked to do together. Whether it was baking or cooking. They were both very skilled in the kitchen, in their own way and for their own reasons.
Yakko was the type to create chaos in the kitchen and thanks to family luck, Max knew how to navigate total chaos without breaking a sweat.
It was an activity the two of them could do together and have fun in the process. So every once in a while they would get a recipe that caught their attention, get the ingredients, and take turns between the Warners' kitchen or Max's apartment.
This particular time, there were other guests besides Yakko's sibs.
“So, there are Raphael, Donatello, Leonardo and Michelangelo. They live in the sewers with their father-sensei, who is a wererat.”
"Sewers?"
“Iugh, and we complain about the water tower.”
“They make it look pretty cool!”
“As cool as a sewer can be…”
Max laughed softly, his hands sifting flour as he watched from the corner of his eye as Dewey told Wakko about TMNT with his brothers and Warner's little sister across the counter.
He had thought they would be asking things like if they could help or how long it would take to make the cookies (he knew from experience that Wakko was waiting for the slightest opportunity to steal anything to eat it or ask for the mixing spoon) and sooner or later he would have to send them away to the living room. (Max could multitask, but not when it came to talking and using hand-eye coordination), but as soon as they all sat down together, Dewey asked Wakko what his favorite ninja turtle was and when Wakko replied that he didn't know what that was, Dewey set out to explain the entire plot from the basics.
The other three children got involved in the conversation quite quickly, between occasional comments and curious questions.
This gave him room to steal kisses from Yakko between preparation steps and created a comforting background noise that he would occasionally catch bits of the conversation from and always make him laugh.
By the time the cookies were all in the oven, Dewey had somehow moved on to the Ninja Turtles, to Sonic The Hedgehog, and was currently explaining the Sonic and Shadow arc.
“That sounds like a great enemies to lovers.” he heard Dot say.
“Actually, it is a rivals to lovers.” He answered himself, smiling as he cleaned the inn and Yakko put away the leftover ingredients.
“What would we be?” Yakko asked from behind him.
Max considered it for a moment. “Friends to lovers, probably.”
“Not as interesting as enemies,” Dot said haughtily.
"I agree." Max nodded wisely. He placed the rag in the corner of the sink just as Yakko came over to kiss him on the cheek.
At that moment, Wakko's stomach growled, he looked at his belly with a frown and then at Yakko and Max. “How much longer until we eat?”

Flufftober — Day 09: Scrunchy Leaves.

It was early autumn when they met.
Although the weather was still warm, the wind was changing from a cool breeze to a cold current that would soon blow away the leaves of the trees until they were bare. Even so, Max still didn't feel the need to put on a jacket.
He embraced the cold currents, holding his sketchbook tighter and waiting for it to pass, so he could continue drawing pencil lines with barely a shudder.
It had been almost half an hour since he sat at the foot of the tree on the highest hill in the park, where he had a pretty nice view of the front of the park. It was also where he had the most breeze, but again, he didn't mind that. His skateboard, his means of transportation, on the ground next to him.
It had been quiet since he arrived, the only sound in the area being the laughter and shouts of the children on the playground behind him and the rustling of leaves. "I know you are there."
Max didn't look up, focused on his notebook and the lines that made up the entrance to the park in his drawing.
The answer came not long after, right above his head. “How did you know I was here?”
Max smiled and looked up, where he knew he would find someone. A boy (he wasn't sure if he was a cat or a rabbit) was looking at him with a slight frown, sitting on a particularly thick branch. “I'm a CoonHound, I have very good hearing.” He paused. “Also, you have a little wheeze when you breathe.”
The boy's beady eyes somehow made a gesture that could only be alarm. "What? Really…? Oh, you’re bothering me.” he finally concluded on his own, his eyes narrowing now.
Max chuckled. “A little, maybe.” He looked up again and asked. “Why are you up there anyway?”
The boy shrugged. “I just wanted to have a moment to myself.”
Max's brow furrowed this time. Taking a moment to think. “Oh. Do you need me to go?”
"No, it's okay. I like your drawing, you have skill.” The boy in the tree said, pointing to Max's sketch. That put a smile on Max's face again.
“Thank you, it's more than anything practical. Although I only draw when I want to clear my mind.”
“Does that often happen?” The boy tilted his head, his long black ears moving in time.
Max sighed, resting his head on the tree trunk as his neck began to tense up. “More than I would like”
There was a noise and a crunch. A second later, the boy landed next to Max and sat down next to him. Max could see it better now, but he still couldn't guess what class it was. Not that it mattered that much. "Hey look at this." He said smiling.
He took his hand out from behind his back, he was wearing white gloves, the same as the ones Max's dad had. In his fist he held a completely orange leaf, at first glance it looked completely dry, and he was sure it would break into pieces if he squeezed it just a little.
“It's cute” Max replied. It was a beautiful autumn leaf.
“It's the first autumn leaf, I caught it just as it came loose from the branch.” The boy explained, clearly proud of himself.
“How do you know it's the first one?” Max asked him, curiosity painting his words.
The boy smiled more. “I can feel it, just like groundhogs feel when winter ends.”
Max smiled back, almost laughing. “Did you know that the first autumn leaf is lucky?”
"It is?" The boy tilted his head, arching an eyebrow (although he didn't have one, rather it was the arch that divided the white of his face from the black on the rest of his head).
Max shrugged. “Who knows, I just made it up.”
“How do you know it's lucky, then?” The boy asked, laughing softly in amusement.
His eyes met Max's green eyes. "Could be it. If you put enough faith in that, It will become lucky.”
The boy paused. “You are mysterious, have any told you?”
Shrugging his shoulders, Max answered him. “Only when I'm in the right mood.”
“And what happens when you're not in the mysterious mood?”
Max tilted his head. “Basically the opposite and add hereditary clumsiness.”
The boy hummed and seemed to consider something, before giving Max a smile that was definitely different than before. "You are interesting…"
“My name is Max.”
“My name is Yakko.”

Flufftober — Day 07: Movie Night.
Pairing: Max Goof / Yakko Warner.
Fandoms: Animaniacs, A Goofy Movie (Disney).

Seeing how excited Max was about this movie night (especially the movie they picked) almost made Yakko feel bad for hoping to do more than just watch a movie about two plumbers who arrive in a magical world of mushrooms, such as kissing.
You can't blame him, he's watched too many Netflix memes this week to not develop expectations.
He arrived just in time at Max's apartment, and he greeted him with a bright smile and his tail wagging in anticipation, when he realized he was already leaning in to kiss Max in the hallway.
The kisses barely lasted, before Max broke away with a giggle and led him to the living room.
Yakko did a double take at the coffee table filled with candy and drinks, with a large bowl of popcorn in the center. It was adorable how much effort Max was putting into all of this, even if he was sure that Wakko would be the only one capable of eating all of this, much less the two of them.
Instead of sitting on the couch, they both gathered all the cushions and pillows and arranged them in a nest between the couch and the small table on the floor.
They got comfortable next to each other after turning off the lights and Max started the movie.
He had to admit, he was attentive for the first half hour, but his eyes kept darting to Max every few minutes, thinking about how to make a move.
First he leaned in and subtly bumped their shoulders, when that didn't work, he moved his hand up Max's leg, but just before he tried to move his fingers higher, he glanced at Max.
He was absolutely hooked.
Yakko knew, he recognized Max's hyper-focused look well enough to know that unless an earthquake started, nothing could distract him from the screen.
With a small, fond and resigned sigh, Yakko silently withdrew his hand and admitted defeat. Sure, he could forcefully get his attention (he certainly had a couple of naughty options) but it wouldn't feel right to do that.
Instead, he had another idea.
He carefully climbed into Max's lap, trying not to block his view of the screen. Whether automatically or consciously, Max leaned back slightly to give Yakko more room until she settled with a triumphant smile between Max's legs.
A second later, Max's arms automatically wrapped around him. Yakko leaned against Max's torso and took one of his hands in his.
Unlike Yakko and his siblings, Max rarely wore full gloves, only in winter or when playing extreme sports to protect his pads, instead he usually wore leather or mesh fingerless gloves, depending on his clothing or mood, and in his apartment, he would take them off to let the sensitive flesh of his hands breathe.
Yakko took off his own white gloves, revealing his own pink pads and the particular pattern of colors. He smiled, taking Max's hand again to feel the touch of skin to skin.
It's not like they didn't hold hands whenever they went out, but it wasn't the same with the cloth in the way.
And now that Max was being so docile, he wasn't going to waste this opportunity.
Letting his own excitement seep into the way his tail swished to the side between him and Max, he admired everything in Max's hands to his heart's content. One good thing about having a DNA cocktail was the night vision that allowed him to make out all the details in the darkness of the room.
For example, unlike Yakko's hands, which changed from black to white on his knuckles, Max's focused on the first section of his fingers and was a color more similar to beige or cream. The padding of his palms was almost the same, although Yakko was closer to a cat. The shade of pink was lighter on his hands, Max's were a little darker, especially on his fingers, where the sun had more opportunities to tan (was it something that could tan? Yakko wasn't sure). His fingers were also less soft than the palm.
Max's claws were visible all the time, unlike Yakko, who could only see them if you pressed the pads or encountered someone particularly rude. He turns Max's hand to get a better look at the mint green nail varnish that covered the trimmed and filed claws this week, he knew that if him wanted, could still scratch and even climb with them, yakko had seen it more than once and it was impressive.
He froze completely when Max let out a gasp of alarm, thinking he'd screwed him up, but luckily it was just a turning point in the movie.
For the last half hour, Yakko simply held Max's hand in his as he watched the plot's outcome, which by the way was punching a giant fire-breathing turtle with rainbow powers. Maybe he should have paid attention.
Once the credits started rolling, the spell that trapped Max was broken. "That was incredible! The princess in her battle outfit was so cool! And Mario and Luigi's brother relationship was so-”
Yakko bit his cheek to keep from laughing the moment Max realized Yakko had moved into his lap. It was easy to see the gears turning behind those emerald eyes, and Yakko almost wanted to kiss him just for that.
“Did you say, HoneyKnees ?” Yakko said, in a playful tone.
Max blinked owlishly, his gaze darting from Yakko to his hands. “Oh.” He exclaimed smiling, as if nothing had happened he moved his hands to take Yakko's and intertwine their fingers… Geez, Yakko was practically indestructible, but this dog was going to be his death.
For the next few hours, Yakko listened with a loving smile to Max as he told him every little detail that caught his attention in the movie and his opinions about each character, every so often leaning in to steal kisses.
Maybe it wasn't as he expected, but Yakko wouldn't want it any other way.
“Oh, and the part where Luigi kisses Bowser to distract him!”
"Wait what!?"
Max's laughter and Ah-hyuck filled the room.

Flufftober — Day 06: Only One Bed.
Pairing: Max Goof / Yakko Warner.
Fandoms: Animaniacs, A Goofy Movie (Disney), Ducktales 2017 (Disney).
Word Count: 1087.

When Max came on the ship on a weekend adventure and found out that he would have to share a bed with Yakko, he actually tried not to show how excited he was.
Now that he was lying on his side, with his back towards Yakko and trying to get as far away from him as possible without falling off the bed, he felt stupid.
Unable to sleep due to the anxiety of not knowing what tomorrow would be like, Max stared at the wall as memories of today replayed in his mind again.
It all started out pretty well, they arrived at the island before lunch, but the journey through the jungle to the hidden temple took all day as they expected, so once they got back to the ship, they had dinner and everyone went to bed. Donald and Scrooge would take turns taking the ship to the next point, where the other half of the treasure was supposed to be.
The problem occurred during the expedition, his uncle and great-uncle had stayed on the boat, saying that they would do this part of the adventure alone, a practice for when they grew up. Max knew that was part of the reason they invited him and let him bring the Warners, Donald trusted his nephews, but there was no way he could stop worrying, so, unofficially, Max was babysitting, with Yakko as his support. Furthermore, Max was very sure that his uncle had the supernatural strength and “magical” abilities of the Warners to face any obstacle that was too deadly.
Max was happy to go on an adventure with his family and his boyfriend's family, which is why he forgot how reckless Yakko could be sometimes.
So, when he deliberately started doing risky things and teasing while ignoring Max's warnings, it soon brought him to a breaking point where he ended up yelling at him in front of the group. He regretted it as soon as the words left his mouth, and was relieved that his outburst occurred when they were returning to the ship with half the treasure and the riddle that would take them to the second island in Huey's hands.
Dinner somehow ended decently thanks to all the kids who filled the silence with stories of their day (they were smart and left out the parts that would make Donald's blood pressure rise). Yakko participated in several parts, but Max remained silent. He lied that he was exhausted, while his mind raced frantically with thoughts with no beginning or end that ranged from how angry he was at Yakko to the guilt he felt in the pit of his stomach for the way he spoke to him.
Around 9 pm everyone went to their rooms, Max and Yakko changed in silence and without looking at each other they got into bed with their backs to each other. It took Max about an hour to fall asleep.
Max woke up with a start, gasping, his body shuddering under the covers. It took him a couple of minutes to calm his frantic heartbeat, with long, slow breaths, he concentrated on the sound of the waves breaking on the shore and the almost imperceptible rocking of the ship until his heartbeat returned to a normal rhythm and his claws loosened from the sleeves of his shirt.
“Maxy?” Yakko's voice was barely a whisper, but in the silent room it still made Max tense.
“Would you like a truce for a hug?” The tone was only soft this time, unsure, as if Yakko wasn't sure if he would be yelled at again or if Max had fallen asleep again, he didn't want to wake him.
Despite his better judgment, Max barely hesitated before whispering back. "I would like to…"
Silently, they both turned under the covers. Yakko crawled closer to him and Max met him halfway, opening his arms so that Yakko could settle with his nose buried in Max's shirt, while Max wrapped his arms around him and held him, resting his chin on the top of his head. Of Yakko between his ears.
The effect was instantaneous, Yakko's warmth relaxing his muscles almost instantly. The scent of lavender and ink on his nose.
“Did you have a nightmare?”
Of course, he noticed. Max didn't bother to lie. “Yes, but it doesn't matter anymore.” Yakko stirred, and his hands tightened on Max's back. “Seriously, I don't even remember it anymore.”
"Sure? I wouldn’t mind listening.”
Max couldn't help but smile. His tail moved behind him in a single lazy sweep. “It was there when I opened my eyes, but it vanished in an instant. I just- I just remember being anxious and scared for someone.”
Once again silence surrounded them, Max felt his eyes begin to close more and more, when Yakko spoke again.
“I'm sorry about today.” He sounded shy, something unusual for Yakko Warner.
"Alright. I’m sorry for yelling at you.”
"No, it's not okay." Yakko responded, instantly moving and raising his head to look at Max's face. “I put your family in danger and ignored you when you tried to tell me nicely. Sometimes I forget that not everyone is as resilient as my sibs and I… But that's not an excuse either, I know I wouldn't like it if someone put Wakko and Dot in danger and ignored me about it. I promise not to do it again."
“…thank you” he blinked a few times to get rid of the sleep that was clinging to his eyelids. He looked at Yakko and gave him a small smile.
Yakko smiled back, clearly more awake than Max. He settled back into Max's chest, and once again rested his chin on the top of Yakko's head when he said, "for nothing."
His voice had become slurred with sleep as he said. “And you don't have to change what you do, I wouldn't bring you in if I thought you might hurt them. I’ll just ask you to listen to me first.”
Hecould feel Yakko's smile, as well as the purrs in his chest. “Of course, HoneyKnees.”
With the last of his consciousness, Max murmured, “okay…” and fell asleep.
The next morning, they had breakfast together with the others, and although the table was big enough, they both stood so close that their shoulders were touching and their knees were knocking.
Later, they passed through the underground ruins in record time.

Flufftober — Day 05: The "OH" Moment.
Pairing: Max Goof / Yakko Warner.
Fandoms: Animaniacs, A Goofy Movie (Disney).
Word Count: 439.
A/N: I skipped Day 4 because I couldn't think of anything, instead I finished a draft that I had forgotten about for a couple of years. But I'm going to leave it only in Spanish.

People say that when you see someone, there comes a moment, an instant when you say “oh, I really love this person.” And it can happen at any time or in any situation, it doesn't necessarily have to be in a totally romantic or cliché environment.
But for Max, it wasn't just an “oh” moment. No.
He said “oh.” When he saw Yakko fall from the water tower and land completely unharmed and with a radiant smile.
He said “oh.” When Yakko made his cousins laugh with a terrible joke and then invited them to play Monopoly as if it were the most normal thing in the world.
He said “oh.” When Yakko stumbled over his words for the first time when trying to talk to his father without showing how nervous he was about wanting to make a good impression.
He said “oh” when he saw him covered in paint of different colors from a water and paint balloon fight in the yard of the McDuck Manor, his fur was in all directions from the paint and the water drying in some places and dripped into others, laughing out loud without a filter.
He said “oh.” When the orange and pink rays of the sunset bathed his figure sitting on the edge of the beach and his eyes seemed like molten gold, calm and free like the salty wind that combed his fur.
In particular, he said “oh.” One random afternoon when they were hanging out, Max couldn't keep his eyes open any longer as he strained to listen to Yakko talk about the most recent book he had read, but which was unfortunately too boring for Max. He was already having a hard time paying attention to him without his hands wriggling or drumming on any surface or his feet bouncing incessantly because he wasn't getting enough stimulation, so eventually he started to get bored and sleep slowly overtook him.
He had jerked in alarm just before falling completely into unconsciousness, and looked at Yakko mortified and embarrassed, scared that he would think he didn't care. He apologized, but Yakko simply laughed and told him:
“It's okay Maxy, you don't have to pay attention or remember everything that I say, it's enough for me to know that you are listening and you are here with me.”
And after that, he let Max lie on his lap and continued talking about his book while stroking Max's hair.
Lulled by the unique and special sound of Yakko's voice, just before he completely slipped into warm, comforting unconsciousness, Max thought once again: “oh, I really love this person. ”

It wasn't common for Max to get sick.
Being prone to so many accidents, his body had become very resilient over time, and in turn, getting hurt so much had somehow improved his immune system to an incredible level.
But incredible did not equal impenetrable. Only, when he managed to catch a virus, it was one of those that hit the worst.
The shrill noise of his doorbell woke him up with a start, his eyes fluttering open only to close them a second later when the brightness filtering through his window burned his dry eyes into his headache. He complained loudly, or so he assumed, his hoarse voice making it sound like a discordant growl.
The doorbell rang again, piercing Max's ears. He cursed the infernal sound and promised to file a complaint with the owner of the building for mistreatment. What was he thinking when he bought the thing and rented the apartments to people like him with sensitive ears?
With monumental effort, Max parroted himself on his unstable feet and with slow, heavy steps, he went to the door.
When he was a meter away, the doorbell rang again, louder and more insistent, Max couldn't help but squeeze his eyes and whimper without the strength to cover his ears.
He opened the door without removing the lock, looked through the gap of just 5 cm and his stomach sank when he saw Yakko standing at his door. Shit.
As quickly as his numb, clumsy fingers would allow him, he closed the door again, unlatched the chain, and opened it almost all the way once more. The short frenzy was enough to knock him out of strength, so when he looked back at Yakko, he had to rest his shoulder on the door frame.
“I'm so sorry Yakko, I forgot you were coming.”
The smile Max had briefly glimpsed faded from Yakko's face, replaced by a worried grimace when he saw Max. “Maxy? Are you ok?" He asked, Max recognizing a hint of fear.
He shakes his head slowly. “No, I've been sick all day.”
“Max! You shouldn’t be up then.”
Before Max could respond, his feet had suddenly left the ground and he was now in thin but impossibly strong arms, looking like a princess.
Max wasn't about to admit the unmanly noise that erupted from his throat as he was picked up.
“Oh, sometimes I forget your supernatural strength.” I muttered dumbfounded.
He heard Yakko laugh as he carried him inside his apartment, closing the door behind him with his tail. Yakko took him to his room and carefully placed him on his bed.
“Now, you will stay there while I take care of you.” Yakko declared, his free hands resting on his hips and Max couldn't do anything but smile goofily, whether it was because of his adorable boyfriend or his illness, he was leaning towards the former. “I’ll take your temperature first.”
“The thermometer is in the bathroom.” I inform meekly.
Yakko went straight there, came back a minute later and didn't even have to ask Max to open his mouth to stick the thermometer under his tongue. While they waited, Yakko noticed that Max's pillow was damp, probably from the cold sweat that covered and matted his fur in strange directions. With a small grimace, he took the pillow and removed the cover, Max pointed to the drawer where he kept the bedding and Yakko changed the cover before placing it back on the bed.
When the thermometer was ready and Yakko looked at it as Max lay back, he could see his lips tighten and knew it wasn't good. “39,6° Max, definitely fever.” He left the thermometer on the table next to his bed and covered it with the blanket. "Did you eat today?"
Max looked away and shook his head as softly as he could without making his headache worse. “I slept all day, I remember waking up in the morning or so, but I was so nauseous I couldn't even open my eyes.”
Yakko sighed, if Max's ears weren't droopy, they would be now. “I will prepare something for you and then you will take medicine.”
Max grimaced. “I don't have much in the kitchen, I was supposed to go shopping today.”
“Then I will go to the store and buy the ingredients.” He leaned down and placed a kiss on the top of Max's head, before heading to the door. “Then I'll make you soup,” he paused for a moment and then smiled. “No, a cream, you like that more, right?”
Max wasn't sure if his cheeks were heating up from fever or the fact of Yakko remembering that little detail. “I, uh, left a list of things on the counter, my wallet should be on the side.”
The only response he got was a laugh from Yakko before he walked outside, soon after, he heard the noise of the front door. Something told him that Yakko took the list but not his wallet.
Time was blurry for Max, at this moment, it felt like a blink and suddenly Yakko was back in his room carrying a tray with a steaming cup. He sat on the bed next to him and Max did the same, leaning his back against the pillow. Yakko placed the tray in his lap and Max could feel the steam of the cream on his face.
His sense of smell had not been completely destroyed by the flu, so he was happy to be able to inhale the delicious aroma that made his mouth water. He was also relieved that the nausea was gone.
“Your pantry is fully stocked and with some extra snacks too.” Yakko reported with a proud smile and a satisfied wag of his tail.
“Thank you, Snugglepuss .” Max muttered, taking the spoon.
“I made the cream by blending all the vegetables with half of the chicken broth, I also added pieces of chicken and meat, I figured the more protein the better.” Yakko explained then with a timid tone as if he were not sure of his decision.
Max had to laugh, although it caused a small coughing fit. "Don't worry." Without further ado, he put the full spoon in his mouth. The flavors immediately exploded in his mouth and his tail began to beat under the blanket frantically.
He turned to Yakko with stars in his green eyes. “This is amazing Yakko!” He immediately began eating spoonful after spoonful, making happy noises.
Yakko tried to cover his laughter with his hand, his cheeks reddening both from the compliment and from how adorable his dumb boyfriend was.
“Go easy, you're going to drown.” He said between giggles fondly.
Max ate the entire bowl in time he remembered and when he finally looked up, Yakko walked in with a glass of something that looked like juice. He sat next to Max again, passing him the glass and with his other hand he handed him two white pills. Max put them in his mouth without comment and swallowed them with the juice that he later discovered was apple.
“Now that you're fed, it's time for a power nap.” Yakko took the empty glass and stood up.
“Seriously, thanks Yakko.” Max told him, he was almost interrupted with a big yawn that left small tears in the corners of his eyes.
Yakko looked over his shoulder at him as he headed back out of the room and smiled. “It's nothing, Maxy.” Max settled into bed and covered himself with the blanket, feeling how tired he was dragging him to sleep. “I'm going to clean the dishes.”
“You don't have to…” Max muttered, his words slurring and his eyes closing.
The last thing he heard before falling asleep was Yakko's sing-song voice laughing and saying, “sweet dreams.”
...
The next time Max woke up, the sunset was bathing his room in orange tones and he felt much better than before. Then he noticed something warm clinging to his torso and when he looked down, Yakko was sleeping peacefully next to him, his arms around him.
Max smiled, tightening his own arms around Yakko to pull him closer and lulled back to sleep by the purrs vibrating directly from Yakko's chest.

LouLou: don't forget that tomorrow we will see the new episode of Roman Empire II I know, Lou jsjs Who knows what would happen if I miss it /s I have to go now xoxo LouLou: First, yuck.  LouLou: Second, good luck on your date.
***
Max looked at his phone one last time, a fond smile though on his muzzle as he quickly put it back in his pocket and looked at his date next to him.
He still felt like he was in a dream, an incredible dream where the funniest and most unique guy had accepted a date with him.
He couldn't help but admire the outfit he had decided to wear today, although the mere fact that he was wearing something other than those smoky topaz pants and lavender polo shirt already made him feel so special that it was hard to keep his tail still. Today, however, he was wearing a mustard-colored Top T-shirt with a Darkwing Duck print with jean pants with a calf-length hem. Overall it was simple, but Max couldn't help but think that he looked so cute.
“You're going to like this place. It’s like a vegan ice cream parlor.” Max said, once he managed to take his eyes off Yakko to see that they were reaching his destination.
“vegan?” Yakko tilted his head with a curious look.
Max stopped when he arrived at the place, a humble place with pastel colors and an eighties style. He steps in front of Yakko, opening the door and holding it for him. That made Yakko's cheeks turn pink as he entered first.
“They make the ice creams with completely lactose-free milk, the standard is almond milk, but if you are allergic, they have options with soy milk.” he explained, as they both approached the register and the employee who was smiling at them.
Yakko perked up. "That sounds great."
The employee across the bar took this opportunity to speak.
“Good afternoon, what would you like to order? We have a promotion today: Three-ball cup. You can choose the flavor you want from our options and when you finish you can take the cup home.” The boy raised his hand, showing the screens above him with the promotions, he pointed out where the cup with ice cream of different flavors was and in the corner the price.
“Oh, Dot would like to drink grape juice there to look fancy, shall we order that?” Asking, Yakko turned to Max for an answer.
"Sure." Max nodded at Yakko and quickly looked back at the employee. “Two cups please.”
The employee nodded back and then pointed to the other side of the bar where the trays of ice cream flavors are displayed. “Choose your flavors.”
Yakko quickly walked over to look at each flavor, his hand holding his chin while the other rested on his hip. Meanwhile, Max took out his wallet and paid for the ice cream beforehand.
When he joined Yakko, he was still struggling, his bean eyes narrowed in a look of pure, adorable concentration.
Max took a moment to appreciate the view and then looked at the flavors. “For me… Oreo, vanilla and tiramisu.”
The boy who served them began to pour Max's drink when Yakko finally decided. “mint, chocolate and caramel please.”
They received their glasses with a spoon and found an empty table by the front window. They ate the first fifteen minutes in silence, Max fascinated by Yakko's expressions as he took his first bite of each flavor as if it were the most delicious thing in the world.
“so, this is your first date?”
The sudden question caught Max a little off guard, almost dropping the ice cream off his spoon before putting it in his mouth.
He thought about it while he ate, looking out the window at the people passing by on the street.
“Well, I had a girlfriend in high school, we dated during the summer of our senior year, but when she started college she left the country, a week later we realized that it wasn't worth staying at a distance and we left it as friends.”
Yakko ponders for a moment, before asking another question. “And how was your first date with her?”
“Do you really want to know that?” Max raised an eyebrow.
The other shrugged, “I'm curious, sue me.” taking a spoonful of mint and putting it in your mouth.
Max was quiet for a moment, before smiling sideways without looking at Yakko. “I took her to a special ice cream shop.” He barely finished the sentence, covering his face and trying to dodge the napkins that were thrown at him while he laughed. Once calmed down, he spoke again. “I actually took her to the cinema. I was so nervous that I couldn't remember anything about the movie when it was over, the next day I came back alone just to watch it again."
There was silence at the table after that, although it wasn't awkward or heavy so Max saw no need to worry. He ate more of his ice cream until he had less than half left when Yakko spoke again.
“You don't look nervous now.” His voice was softer, not accusatory, but inquisitive.
Max smiled, looking Yakko in the eyes. “I was nervous when I asked you out because I didn't know if you would say yes, but you make me feel calm, I feel like myself when I am with you.”
Yakko's cheeks flushed red before he lowered his gaze shyly. “I think the opposite happens to me.”
Max tilted his head, a gesture associated with a confused but still cheerful puppy. "in a good way?"
Yakko laughed, his black eyes having a special sparkle in them. "In a good way. You bring out a side in me that I didn't even know and I like it.”
"I like it too. I like everything about you, in fact.”

Goof luck has been something Max has lived with from the get-go.
Really. When he took his first steps, he barely advanced half a meter before tripping and falling on his face. Luckily, his dad was prepared and threw a pillow at the exact moment.
Although he was fine in his childhood, his adolescence was the worst time of his life. The hormones made everyone clumsy and uncomfortable with their bodies, but for Max, it was like throwing gasoline and wood on a fire and all he had to fight it was a ruined sprinkler that made him wetter than the fire itself.
Some days, frustration, anxiety and discomfort brought out the worst in Max and he ended up taking it out on his dad, who of course didn't deserve it (he would later come back embarrassed to apologize).
Even so, over time he improved, he regained his confidence and little by little the fire became a modest bonfire. Because it was impossible for Goof luck to disappear, Max learned that it was easier to flow with it, and even, later, learned to use it to his advantage. Although it didn't always work.
That's why Max now began to get ready for any engagement with a minimum of two hours, including the time it takes to get to the meeting point. It wasn't fun when he had to get up early, but it gave him the opportunity to take his time without stressing and solve any common or unlikely problems along the way with a calm mind.
Normally, that worked well, but there were days when it didn't, days when lucky Goof seemed to go the extra mile with Max.
Today seemed to be one of those days.
Max raised his wrist to look at his watch for the millionth time before looking back at the road. He knew it wasn't safe to take his eyes off the road when he was riding his skateboard, much less at the speed he was going, but the anxiety of being more than half an hour late made him more reckless than normal, even if he had already texted Yakko right away before getting on the skateboard.
He bit his lip, ignoring the bite of the early winter cold on his face. He bent his knees a little more to turn a corner and then kicked the ground again to go faster.
Luckily, the streets weren't that busy and the snow had already been shoveled, so he didn't have many obstacles.
Finally, he reached the park, but instead of stopping at the entrance, he simply let gravity slowly slow down his board, while he concentrated on looking everywhere.
Over there. He saw a group of little white ducks wearing familiar colored clothes, running around the metal jungle, with them, were two people with black fur and red noses in warm clothes. Max smiling, turning his board toward them, looking for a third, lankier little black thing.
He found him on a nearby bench, sitting looking at the group of children.
Max went straight to him, noticing his clothes when he was a few meters away. He had a cute orange sweater with a print of little pumpkin faces that went perfectly with his black pants and orange boots with purple soles.
This would definitely rank as one of Max's favorite Yakko outfits and he made a mental note to take at least one photo of him in it.
At that moment, one of Yakko's ears perked up and half a minute later he turned his face towards Max. The soft smile he had continued until it narrowed his eyes and illuminated his entire face with joy.
“Maxy!”
Max opened his mouth to say hello, but at that moment a snowball hit him in the face and sent him falling off the skateboard.
Gasps mixed with giggles and cheeky laughter.
It took a moment for Max to reorient himself, shaking his head to clear the snow. His gaze went straight to the group of children, his eyes two slits of green.
“Oh, that's how we want to play…” his statement was followed by more laughter. “Yakko, would you take care of my skateboard?” he said loudly, his tail wagging and a predatory but playful smile making its way onto his muzzle.
There was a sweeter laugh from beside him. “Sure, go destroy them.”
With that, Max jumped up and took off towards the group. The children screamed with laughter and ran to hide from the snowballs Max was throwing at them, or in the case of Dewey and Webby, fight back.
Almost an hour later, Max was finally able to join Yakko on the bench. He shook as much snow as he could off his brick-colored jacket and climbed onto the bench to sit on the backrest with Yakko.
"Hey." He greeted, his shoulders bumping and giving Max a warm spot.
"Hello, HoneyKnees." Greeting Yakko back. Max's tail started wagging at the nickname he's already heard a million times. “Having fun?”
Max laughed. "and you?" He asked, curiosity painting his face. “Won't you join them?”
Yakko just shook his head. “nah, I'm not in the mood, not so insane today.”
Curiosity gave way to concern as Max moved a little closer to get a better look at Yakko out of some discomfort. "are you ok?"
Yakko simply smiled, Max could feel a slightly thicker tail curl around his own. "Yes don´t worry". Yakko said with a softer voice than his usual one. “It's the cold, I guess. You know how it is."
In fact, Max knew it. Something about the animal DNA cocktail at the Warners, a lot of it was from animals that hibernated and a few from animals that didn't do well in the cold (the same thing happened in very hot climates), so if they weren't careful they could get in hibernation.
Max still remembers his first winter after meeting the Warners, how he found them in the water tower asleep, but no matter what he did, he couldn't wake them up, ultimately calling Bugs and Daffy in panic. Between the three of them they wrapped the Warners in thick blankets and several heaters to wake them up.
It's definitely not something he like to repeat.
He thought about giving his jacket to Yakko, but at this point all the snow hitting him had left it a little wet and he didn't think it would help much.
Max was brought out of his thoughts when Yakko suddenly jumped off the bench. "Wait here, Maxy." He said, not waiting for a response before walking away. Shortly after, he returned with a coffee in each hand (oh, he had purple gloves), handing one to Max before returning to his side on the bench.
“Thank you, you didn't have--” Max began before being interrupted.
“A little more and your teeth would start chattering, Maxy.”
As if on cue, Max's entire body shivered with cold. He smiled, feeling his cheeks flush, cradling the warm glass in his hands. He looked down at the white cover, Yakko's tail once again curling around his own.
"What is it?"
"Capuchino."
Max blinked and then looked at Yakko. “...is he decaf?”
Yakko was in the middle of a sip of his own coffee. “Oh, I think I forgot that, sorry.”
He tilted his head, squinting at the cup. “This will make me sleepy.”
“An excuse to take you up to the tower and cuddle up for a nap, I guess.” Yakko replied, shrugging with a smile.
Max laughs and takes a sip of his coffee. The liquid enters his throat and warms him from the inside. “I told you I wouldn’t get into your ball pit again.”
His boyfriend looks at him, tilts his head down, and does that thing where he makes his eyes widen in an unnatural but terribly adorable way. “Not even if I say peache-please?”
Max intentionally avoids looking at him, choosing to watch as Wakko and Louie together roll a snowball that is supposed to be the base for a snowman. "Nope."
A dramatic sigh left Yakko and created a small cloud of steam in front of him. “Well, I guess I can swap the balls for pillows, although the feathers and stuffing won't give me proper support.”
“I can give you support.”
Yakko choked on his coffee, barely swallowing before he laughed and shoved Max with his free hand.
“Maxy!” he scolded between laughs. “This is supposed to be Rated G.”
Max brought his glass to his lips, half hiding a satisfied smile. “I don’t think the imaginary audience cares.”
“hm, you're right, they like it.” Yakko ascended, lowering his coffee halfway to hold it between his legs with both hands. He leaned down and rested his head on Max's shoulder.
They stayed silent, simply listening to the distant voices and laughter of Yakko's siblings and Max's cousins. Yakko's small purrs reverberating from the point where they both connected to Max's heart, warming him more than any drink.
Later that day, Yakko and Max curled up in the pool, surrounded by warm pillows and blankets, and took a nap.
