@ammomancer thank you for asking! (i tried replies first but i suffer from wordy bitch syndrome and hit the word count pretty fast apparently) so you'll find my explanation under the cut! Also again thanks for asking I love rambling on about everything xD

in this particular case i honestly went more based on vibes and what i, at that moment, found better to include (also what i could still fit into the sketchbook page sjdgfhsd)

It honestly started with Cubone because i just thought it would be cool for Jason to take care of one (also one of my friends called it the mommy issue Pokemon and then i HAD to use it xD)

Chandelure because i think he'd have at LEAST one ghost type and while i would have gone Phantump (for... obvious reasons) it feels very depended on being formed in forest-y areas which Gotham doesn't have too many of (though, you know, that makes me think of Ivy having some or taking care of them at least), Chandelure also feels like a neat connection to Wayne Manor especially in the way that it's a ghost type.

Dachsbun at first because I think it was funny but also Jason deserves an emotional support dog even if it's a Pokemon! And then I looked into it more (I haven't played much with it) and realized it's common ability is "Well-Baked Body" which makes it literally immune to fire damage which, you know, Jason would probably appreciate A Lot.

Skuntank....honestly it was for the joke. Like, I've often seen in fics or post people calling Jason a skunk bc of the white stripe so. I just thought it would be funny - I do think if we go with in-universe explanation that Skuntank are likely uncommon and not popular Pokemon and Jason would either get one or take care of one because he's seen someone pick on it.

Sylvally because it's a neat Pokemon and I can totally see Jason busting Type: Null out of some lab to take care of it - it's also a friendship evolution which I felt he should have at least one of.

Paldean Tauros - honestly I just thought a Tauros would fit him well but Sylvally would have already taken care of being a normal type, which meant Paldean Tauros which as a fighting type fits him even better I think but I felt he was lacking in water types (while, depending on characterisation and story, one can always associate people with differing elements, I always associate him with water first, and fire as a second) therefor Aqua Breed Paldean Tauros!
