Chapter 8

Caught Myself (in love with you)

The first thing he thinks when he wakes up is that he wants to go back to sleep. Although, now that he's awake he can feel the real Buck entwined to his body.

It's weird, or should feel weird, but even though his arm hurts, his neck feels tight and he has that funny taste in his mouth when he doesn't sleep well, he's never woken up so happy in his life.

Discreetly, he holds Buck tighter, his breathing tickles his neck but he doesn't care. Buck is still snoring, so there's no danger of him discovering it by seeking closer proximity.

An immense calmness comes over him, Buck is here, Buck is fine, Buck is snoring, Buck is in his arms and nothing bad can happen to him as long as he is still here.

It's an absurd idea, he knows, but it doesn't stop him from dipping his nose into Buck's hair and feeling totally free for the first time in the last sixteen days or so.

And of course, this is the moment his brain sends him the images of the dream he just had. Or rather dreams.

At first, he was at his parents' house in Texas. He was 16 years old but still saw himself with his current body. It was a hot day, he was wearing only black boxer shorts, lying in bed when a small knock came at his bedroom window. In his stomach he felt the butterflies, he knew who was throwing stones to get his attention.

As he opened it for a 16 year old Buck also looking exactly like the Buck he knows to get in, an almost painful erection was contained by the black boxer.

He was home alone, something that would never have happened in real life, but he still locked the door to his room. He walked faster, reached Buck and ran his hands around his waist, kissed his neck, caressed his abdomen. He bit his ear, he wanted to undress him and make love to him right there.

Buck had another idea before he moved on to that. He turned around and started kissing him, with a desperation that turned him on even more. He pulled Buck up onto the bar without stopping kissing him, he could feel his erection brushing against his, it was magical, in the strangest way possible.

He unbuckled Buck's belt, needing to really feel him. Then he reached inside his boxers and...  The dream changed.

Now they were in this room, in this very bed. They were both naked but covered with the white sheets, he still couldn't look at Buck's body in all its glory.

They were sweating, their breaths were ragged, but they were side by side, laughing. Buck was telling him that this had been the best sexual experience of his whole life and he, though he told him he felt the same way, was trying to remember something of the act. It was as if his brain wanted to make him suffer by not letting him dream of having sex with Buck.

Buck got on top, again their erections were against each other. Buck looked at him with passion-filled eyes. They began to laugh, but he also needed more, to touch him, to feel his lips, to join their bodies in a way he had never imagined he would desire. He proposed a second round and it was tender and exciting to see how much Buck wanted this too.

Buck began to move, the pleasure of feeling their penises so close together was pushing him over the edge. And it was that precise moment that he woke up.

And it was also that moment when he realized that he had dreamed three times about their cocks touching and rubbing together, because that's exactly what's happening in real life.

*Me explaining how Tommy and Buck dating is actually a great start to Buck/Eddie endgame*

Buck will get to explore his sexuality, which helps to ease in the general audience to bisexual buck which will pave the way to Buddie. I think it is a great way extend the amount of time until they get together because they need more time together as close friends/partners.

This extension is important because there has been a lack of Buck/Eddie screen time for the past two seasons. There needs to be a resurgence of their friendship the way it was in season 2-3. We need that tension again.

Tommy is also a way for Eddie to re-contextualize his relationship to Buck. Because he sees Buck as a coparent, a partner, someone significant to his life beyond a friend, he will feel some tension. So, when Buck is seeing someone seriously, someone who will be taking up the time and attention Eddie is used to, he will have to evaluate this jealousy. He, as well as the audience, will start to see his relationship with Buck in a new light.

Add in some pining, misunderstandings, and jealousy and you’ve got the groundwork for the finale to a six season slowburn.
