Alternate Ending: What have I Done?

Summary: A few months after the events of WOTFI 2023, SMG4 starts having really bad dreams about the "Its gotta be perfect" incident. One night however, his fear allows the nightmares to break through and he gets taken to a horrific dimension. He finally meets the tv adware, who manipulates him into returning to his insane ways, intent on claiming much more than the perfect video. Now it's up to his friends to stop this madness and save SMG4. Can they do it in time or will they lose SMG4 forever? (In case you are unaware this is a sequel to the its gotta be perfect movie)

Author's Note: Okay okay I hear you. I have gotten comments on my Tumblr and Wattpad for the bad ending to your pursuit of perfection for quite some time, so here it is! This chapter leaves off right after the rap battle and answers the question lots of fans have been wondering: What would have happened if Smg4 gave in to Mr Puzzles? Warning that there is blood and gruesome descriptions in this.

The TV Adware shields his eyes, but opens them to find that rays of meme powers have hit Smg4. One speaks in a commanding voice to the corrupted man. "Your darkness cannot survive in our energy! Loosen your grip on Smg4's heart and let him speak!" The pink cracks on his face etched in deeper as the man they belonged to struggled to fight it. "NO!" Mr Puzzles had enough of this foolishness as he disappeared into the dark shadows behind him, determined to put a stop to this once and for all.

"This isn't working!" Meggy called out until a familar voice spoke "You...guys came back? You didn't forget about me?" They all tuned to see Four with his soft blue eyes, grieving in pain and speaking in a low croak. Tears formed in his eyes as he asked "You didn't replace or reject me?"

Tari smiled and said "Of course not! Why would you think that?" Four felt a dark cloud surrounding him while he was curled up on his knees. Why wasn't his corrupted form disappearing? "I thought that you would never forgive me for what I did. I wanted to forget it!" Suddenly that voice following him around was echoing through his ears once again. "Smg4...don't let these 'friends' fool you."

"Y-You...It was you that gave me those nightmares." The connection was running out and Four was distraught. "We can't hold it for that much longer!" One called out. When Three heard that, his heroic stupidity took hold as he let go of his fellow meme guardians and rushed towards Four. "THREE NO!" Meggy tried to stop him, but it was too late. Three grabbed his hand and tried to use their connection.

What happened next was quite unfortunate as Three awoke to find himself in Four's mind. He then saw his lover from another life and the tall TV man next to him. Mr Puzzles was whispering conflicting persuasions into his ear that made Three understand why Four was so broken.

"What have they done for you?"

"You could have had the perfect video if you didn't save him."

"You should be ruling this world with me."

"I'm your only friend."

Three's anger started to boil as he yelled "LET HIM GO!" Mr Puzzles chuckled and said "Why should I do that?" Three pulled out a bomb and said "Easy. Because I will KILL YOU!!!" He rushed towards him and threw the bomb, but the entertainer disappeared upon impact. Three looked all around and yelled "SHOW YOURSELF YOU FRICKING TV CRAP!!!"

Mr Puzzles reappeared behind him and said "Over here." Three turned and threw another explosive at him, but once again Mr Puzzles's great vanishing act had happened again. He kept reappearing in several spots for each explosion to happen a few seconds too late.

"Nope."

"Hello."

"Just missed me."

"I could do this for all eternity."

All according to plan.

Mr Puzzles played around with Three's emotions for a few more minutes until he appeared by Four and waved. Three was breathing tirelessly as his body ached with exhaustion. "What's wrong Smg3? Tired already? Aw that's a shame. I was having such a good time." Three could have never foretold what happened next. It would soon become the biggest regret of his life...or even his last moments.

"I HATE YOU! YOU'RE A MONSTER! THAT'S ALL YOU ARE!!!"

Mr Puzzles face didn't change into shock, but instead to a pleasing expression. "Oh my. Did you hear that Smg4?" Three's eyes widened as he noticed that Four was listening and his face was horrified like nothing Three had ever seen before. "You...hate me?" In a mad panic, Three tried to take back what he said. "NO! I WAS TALKING TO MR PUZZLES! I SWEAR I WOULD NEVER SAY THAT ABOUT YOU FOUR!"

Mr Puzzles placed a hand on his shoulder and said "I'm sorry Smg4, but this was what I was warning you about. Your friends never loved you and they never will." It was all made clear. Everything that Three had done was just what Mr Puzzles had wanted. Four's transformation was never permanent...but now it would be.

"You're right. You both were right. I'm a monster. I have no friends. I'm trapped with my wrongful actions. I'll never be anything more." Three covered his mouth with his hands. If anyone was feeling more immense guilt between the two, it was him. Out of everything he did to Four, this had crossed the line. The smirking Adware clapped his hands and said "Thank you Smg3. You finally admitted your true feelings for Smg4...didn't you."

"NO! THAT'S NOT TRUE!" He couldn't take it anymore as he grabbed Four and admitted "I LOVE YOU SMG4!" He hoped that admitting his real feelings would be enough to repair the damage he had caused, but no matter how much he tried Four was convinced that the opposite of Three's honest feelings was what everyone really thought of him.

Four's hands grew cold and his body shook. Three had hit his breaking point as he grabbed Four and pulled him into an embrace. He shut his eyes tightly, reopening them to find that the bond had broken and One and Two looked like they were about to collapse from exhaustion. Four was grimacing with anger back in his corrupted form. Mr Puzzles saw his opportunity and seized it when he yelled out "YOU ALL HAVE INTERFERED FOR THE LAST TIME! NIGHTMARE FOUR DESTROY THEM!" In a flash, the permanent transformation controlled the movement of a mad dash and Four gripped Three's wrist, growing tighter and tighter.

"Four! You're hurting me! Stop!" Four didn't listen as he could clearly sense what this being had said. "SHUT IT! YOU ALL HAVE TREATED ME LIKE A JOKE! I'LL SHOW YOU THAT I'M MORE POWERFUL THAN ALL OF YOU COMBINED!!!"

"THREE! NOOO!" Meggy cried as a sharp pain filled his wrist. His vision blurred as he looked down and saw that Four had broken his wrist so badly that it was bleeding. The others watched in complete shock. They never had known what Four was capable of until right now.

Three tried to pull himself up, but a strong force pulled him up to their face. "Isn't it ironic that you have threatened to kill me so many times and I was actually the one who did it to you..." His past. He could have used his last bit strength to pull away and end the man's life for good just like his old self had promised. Instead he flashed a weak smile and said with tears "I'm sorry Four...for everything." He deserved to be put out of his misery. No matter how much he tried, his selfishness just made the one he loved suffer more. "If this will make you feel better...I'm ready."

That was the last thing he said before an arm pounded through his chest. A metallic taste filled his mouth and his eyes flickered out. It was his final moments. Four dropped the corpse and looked at the others with a flashing pink eye. "Don't worry, you're next!"

...

Silence. Sweet silence. Mr Puzzles sat upon his bitter throne while watching over his new kingdom. His partner watched along with him, eyes narrow. He should be happy. Finally no more nightmares. No more pain and suffering. Nobody to tell him he was worthless. These thoughts swarmed him until something else made him feel...different? Everything was shriveled up and the sky was blood red. Reminded him of someone's eyes.

A bunch of corpses lied down in the distance beneath them. One caught his eyes and he sighed. "Isn't this better Smg4?" He nodded and said "I'm going for a walk..." He left his once tranquil castle of the Showgrounds and looked down at the bleeding man. His chest had a huge hole in it and his face looked tired.

Four looked down at his hands, covered with blood. Those memories. Those feelings. Those good times. It was filled with so much more happiness than what had come now. Maybe even better if Three and him had become...

Tears started to stream down his face as he collapsed onto his knees. He held his lover in his arms, looking down at his sweet face. Corpses of his friends surrounded them as sadness and loneliness was the only thing to keep him company now. Gone. Gone forever. A lump in his throat had formed and a shaky voice said the only thought he had left.

"Oh god. What have I done?"

Chapter 13: The Final Showdown

The sky had darkened into a thundering storm. The corrupted Smg4 and Mr Puzzles were here with an army of foul and evil creatures. Smg1, Smg2, and all their friends that had stayed behind were standing their ground for intimidation was no longer an option. "We will save the Showgrounds no matter what!"

They blasted a ray of meme energy, but Four used his own corrupted powers to block it. "Really? You thought that could actually do something?" You can't destroy your own kind, can you? "We will defeat you!" Darkness encircles around them as Mr Puzzles commanded that strong wind of nightmares (is that all you do). "Good luck." However, he had not given enough credit as these characters bravely fought back. Shroomy was wildly shooting in his anti form, the Teletubbies kept stabbing creatures, and the U.S. military blew up anything that flew towards them (even birds).

One and Two were about to strike, but Mr Puzzles laughed with reassurance even though he was losing badly. "I can feel your guilt. You can't deny that you left your friends behind. Now they will perish!" They both stopped in their tracks as Four came up behind and blasted them into the ground. "SMG1! SMG2!"

"What a disappointment. That was way too easy!" Mr Puzzles turned to the crew and called out. "I will be your new leader and rule over the Mushroom Kingdom! Surrender now before someone really gets hurt!" That bitter damage that One and Two experienced was only just a warm up. Two got up, grieving in pain as he turned to his partner. "He's right. We should have stayed to help and now they're..."

"No way you're surrendering to these freaks now!" Kaizo said. "Yeah! Nothing's illegal when you're on the side of justice!" Hal monitor added. One nodded as he slowly got up with Two doing the same. "With all of you by our side, we have nothing to fear!" Mr Puzzles was getting irritated. His mind games weren't working anymore.

The two meme guardians joined hands as they addressed all their friends. "We will never abandon each other, just as we will not let our nightmares control us, you shall not let yours take hold! We will defend and protect each other!" A burst of energy sent the fog of nightmares to disappear for good and everyone who was under the weight of their burdens was released. "Together we will defeat this Adware and he will never hurt any of us again!" Mr Puzzle's screen glitched in seething anger as Four stood with his mouth open.

"How did they do that!?" Mr Puzzle's fists clenched as he yelled "You are all fools! Believing that love and teamwork will save you! Only power and darkness can get you what you want!" Four started to quiver as he turned to his leader. "Master, what do we do?" He shot back "We will not back down! It's time to end this now!" Four nodded, but suddenly he felt a shocking corse of pain going through is body. "Master...what is....happening to me!?" A wave of blue energy surrounded him as the crew appeared before the others. The connection had worked!

The squelching creature that Tari had brought was turned into its original form of goodness and radiance. From before Mr Puzzles conquered and corrupted the innocent soul. "I am not your servant! Release my friends at once!" Mario shot back with a mixture of silliness and confidence "Stupid TV man! Mario and his friends are stronger than you will ever be!"

"You're all okay!" Two was so relieved that they hadn't died. One breathed in reassurance as well. "You really thought that creepy place could stop us!" Three struck back while Meggy gave them a thumbs up and Tari clapped enthusiastically. "Now let's show them what we got!" Meggy said. One and Two nodded as they all held hands and the creatures that were attacking had been remodeled into their original forms by a flash of light. The one Tari befriended had started to cry tears of joy as he rushed up to hug them. "My friends! You're alright!"

Mr Puzzles clenched his fists as a boiling anger made his screen turn red. Four stared at his hand in confusion, trying to understand how he had just helped bring his enemies to safety. "What....how...did I do that?" Mr Puzzles took his immense outrage out on the only victim that he had left. "OF COURSE YOU DID! THAT ANNOYING OLD SELF OF YOURS HAS ALLOWED YOU TO CONNECT WITH THAT FOOL! YOU ARE A TRAITOR!" He turned to the other creatures and yelled at them "YOU ALL ARE BACK-STABBERS TOO!!!

He was done playing nice. It was time to up the game. "I'm finished with all of you! If you want a show, I'll give you a show! Prepare yourself for..."

WAR OF THE FAT ITALIANS 2024!!!

They all got transported to a fake simulation of their home as Mr Puzzles watched. He was always the observer in these challenges he set up. His screen turned on to a bunch of comments and said "Luckily I can count on my audience to give a good performance!"

Smg3 vs. Smg4

Who can last longer watching cringe Gacha content?

Three and Four appeared at a computer. "What the..?" It started playing YouTube videos of a gacha creator who put themselves in different movies and shows and...Hey wait a minute! That's my videos!

"CUT!"

"What the heck! Why are my videos the cringy ones!" Mr Puzzles as the audacity to say "Well Iv'e been looking at your videos and you barely have any quality content."

"What do you mean!? I make excellent content!" Mr Puzzles rolls his eyes and says "Please. You hardly have over 1,000 subscribers." How dare this stupid piece of junk! I stuck a finger in his face and make it perfectly clear to him exactly what I think. "What are you going to say now! That I get more dislikes than likes! I can think of much more low quality gacha than my channel. Pick somebody else!"

"I would, but your followers request it! You don't want to disappoint them do you?" Ugh, stupid reverse psychology. "Fine. But we are going to have a serious talk later." (little does he know, I'm going to throw a chair at him). I storm out of the room and the challenge continues.

As Three and Four watch, discomfort slowly rises in them. "That ain't so bad..." Four starts to sweat. "Come on, be brave Three." His eyes tear up as he holds back from looking away. It starts to get harder as some of the older videos play, which are ten times worse. Four couldn't take it anymore as his body deflated. "Oh no! Cringe!" He collapsed on the floor, making Smg3 the winner.

"This will be a breeze! Mario watches funny memios all the time!" He cracks his knuckles and begins slamming his hands against the keyboard. "Heh. I bet Smg4 hasn't even-"

"Done!" Smg4 says as wipes his forehead. Mario's eyes widened as he looks back and forth between the computer and the keyboard. He goes into hacker mode while trying not to have a panic attack to the point he just bangs his head on the keyboard till it breaks. He stares at the sparking and fizzing computer wreckage. Four shows his meme first as he has a tomato soop that he tried making back in January. "Pfff. Mario's meme is way better!" He shows off his meme that is just a crappy drawing of spaghetti. "Oooooo. What do you think? You like?" The judges set fire to their eyes after witnessing that horrid picture.

Saiko vs. Smg4

Who can get Kazuha the fastest in genshin?

Saiko goes away on her computer, furiously playing through the game in order to get the ranks and completed quests she needs. Four has a smug grin on his face while watching her struggle as he turns and says with a wavering hand "You see I'm going to do what's called a pro gamer move!" He installs a cheat code and laughs manically, but once he presses a button a big red x pops up on the screen with text that reads "Your ID is banned for cheating! Play the game the correct way noob!" Four stands there with his hanging mouth while Saiko had just successfully unlocked the character as the Mario star collection music plays.

"LOL! THIS IS SO EASY!" Four begins chopping down trees around him and digging in every direction until he finds diamonds. Bob just watches a pig and says "SO...HOW ARE YOU TODAY?" Four makes it to a village and starts pillaging the land. "Don't mind me, just stealing your resources! :D" Bob continues to make conversation with the pixelated animal. "DO YOU LIKE PORKCHOPS?" Four breaks into Steve's farm and steals his beloved chicken. "NOOOOOO! MY CHICKEN!" Bob is riding the pig when he sees Alex stuck in the fence. "Steve help me!" Four has finally acquired all the eyes of ender when he jumps through the portal, only to find Bob standing on the dragon. "WEEEE! I CAN FLY!" The dragon flies into a tower and the purple explosion cutscene happens as Bob gets the "Free the End" achievement. Steve appears and slaps Four, taking his beloved chicken back with him.

"Alright Luigi you're up first!" Luigi gulped as he looked around nervously. "Oh...umm...the first game was about some scary animatronics and they gave me really bad nightmares and..." He fell to the ground in tears, sobbing "Please don't eat me Freddy!" Smg4 rolled his eyes and said in a modest tone "Well Willam Afton first opened his diner sometime in the 1970s and in 1983 an unfortunate accident with Michael wanting to scare his brother, resulted in him getting killed which *unnecessary descriptions and stuff*"

"Oh I love him! He makes so many good points about my favorite video games!" Smg4 looks at her with a conflicting expression. "He even has other channels for movies and food and-" Smg4 interrupted her fantasies with his own remarks. "Oh yeah! Well he studies and does very interactive planning on how all the characters act and what the lore means!" Toad comes up with a phone in his hands and stares at them, perplexed. "You guys know that he's retired now right?" The two stare in shock before looking at each other and that back at Toad. "He is!?" Toad held up his phone to show MattPat's final theory video and the two curled up onto the floor, bawling.

Boopkins vs. Smg4

Who can do more community service?

Boopkins takes a broom and begins sweeping the park. Smg4 does a weird stance walk, looking for someone to help when he finds a old man that is about to cross the street. He grabs him and says "Let me help." as he pushes the walk button. It is now safe to cross as he smiles, taking the man's hand. They were just about to make it across when the old man sees something on the ground and says "Ooo a penny!" He goes down to pick it up, but the walk sign turns back and a bunch of cars hit them. Meanwhile Boopkins just finished cleaning the park and a crowd surrounds him to congratulate the fish while Four lays in the road, bent and burning.

Meggy vs. Smg4

Who can babysit Mario the best?

Mario is spinning around in circles when Meggy comes in. "If I want to win this then this calls for extreme measures!" A giant cage comes down and Meggy grabs a plate of spaghetti. "Ohhhh Mariooooo!" Seeing the plate of pasta, Mario's mustache grows as he runs straight at it. "GIMME GIMME GIMME!!!" Meggy throws the spaghetti into the cage and Mario dives in to eat the contents off the floor. Meggy locks the cage and strikes a confident pose. "That was too..HUH!" She looks into the cage to find that the fat Italian is missing. "How did he...?" She then finds him outside, looking derpy while everyone else is running around screaming. "Mario! What did you do!"

"Mario tried to show them his spaghetti, but they ran away in terror!" He showed her a plate that had instead a pipe bomb. "Wow! It's a pipe bomb-" *BOOM*

Smg4 brings an excited Mario into the room. "What are we going to do Smg4?" Four opens the door and lets Luigi in with a smile. "You'll be hanging out with Luigi today!" Four gets in real close and whispers into his ear "And Luigi wants to play rock simulator..." He nods as he pulls the game out and Mario sighs in annoyance. "Welp I'm done." He pulls out a gun and shoots his head off.

Melony vs. Smg4

Who can survive Smg4 fan fiction the longest?

Four takes a deep breath. "Hit me with your best shot!" A story comes up on the screen and he narrows his eyes. "Huh, what is-OH GOD!" His eyes go null as Four has a heart attack and dies. Melony looks at the stories as well, but find them more adorable then disturbing. "How cute! I should share me and Axol's manga on here!"

Smg1/Smg2 vs. Smg4

Who can get Karen to smile first?

Karen is watching her kids on the playground when Smg4 appears. "Hey Karen! Check out my child! Isn't he adorable!" Beeg makes an "EUGH" sound, but when he sees the cat lady, his eyebrows turn to fury. He must have gotten this grievance during the ice cream situation because Beeg takes a huge boot and kicks her, storming off. Karen gets up and glares at Four, who laughs nervously. "Uhhh..." She slaps him and then walks off. She then runs into the two meme guardians as they hold hands. Her kids start floating and disappear in a wave of light. Karen blinks a few times, but then cheers "I'M FREE!" She then runs off to make use of her time.

Smg3 vs. Smg4

Who can go the longest without insulting each other?

"What!? That's literally impossible! He s-" Three quickly refrains from his sentence, knowing full well what will happen if he finishes it. "I mean he's..." He tries to cover it up by saying a nice compliment instead. "He..." Sweat drips down his body as Three tries to think of something, but when you're standing in front of your ex-rival that's pretty much a gamble. "He's...AN IDIOT FOR GETTING TRICKED TWICE BY THE SAME GUY!" Three was concerned for Four's safety, but all he could think of in that moment for some reason was how stupid he was for being conned by Mr Puzzles so easily.

Boopkins vs. Smg4

Who can listen to Whimpu talk about anime the longest?

"Finally some friends to listen about my ideas for furry anime mommy's!" Whimpu started pulling out his computer and searching for all his favorite ships. "Really!? Do you love Miku!" The boy gasped as he couldn't believe someone knew about that. "YES! HAVE YOU MET HER!" Boopkins nodded as he described how Three had helped him on a date with her. While the two were talking, Four watched with disinterest and walked off. "I want to die."

Mario vs. Smg4

Who can watch snow trapped the longest?

The two friends appeared and Mario's eyes lit up. "OOOOOO MARIO REMEMBERS THIS EPISODE! MARIO HAD TO RESCUE SMG4 AND SMG3 AND THEY-" Four put a finger up to his mouth and whispered "Not another word..." It was too late as the two of them turned to find the episode had started playing. Everything was fine until it was time for that 6:50 moment where the most haunting memory that lived in Four's mind was right in front of him. His eyes started to burn as he screamed in agony. He could have sworn it was only a few seconds, but to him it was hours as he melted into a puddle. Mario watched and said to the camera "Ahh the gay boi's make Mario so happy!"

The simulation was finally over as they were all transported back to the same setting from which they started. It all started as a blur as the memory of what happened slowly started to sink in. Mr Puzzles clapped slowly. "My My. What an outstanding job all of you have done. As much as I love a good show, it's time to finally end it once and for all. I think this one's gonna be my favorite!"

It was time for a final standoff as all the characters got ready for a real showstopper battle.

Meggy: "Our hour is here and these fears are growing dim. Release us from your grasp! Your show has reached its point at the end of the day!"

Mr Puzzles: "My final bow will never pass. I manipulate for my gain. Don't try to pull me apart in your little reign. I will render your lives into surrender and then it's time for the sequel!"

Mario: "Hello Mr TV Man! I heard you see us as your performance! Why keep putting up this fight when we all know you lost the game! Just admit you've been beat and let us go! Iv'e got a deal for you that offers some spaghetti!"

Nightmare Smg4: "Would you all just quit already. Your victory is just a facade. Feeble attempts and protection only makes my power grow. Where's the fun and laughter you promised long ago? I'm the biggest star of this show! Who needs friends when you've got foes?"

Smg3: "Do you really think all that talk is gonna make me cry? You make your audience want to die. Looks like you're the one who stepped in the trap when no one's left in your grasp. Cause I can tell that this plan is just gonna get you banned."

Luigi: "Sorry, if we made you mad, but your antics have made us sad."

Bob: "NO WAY! HIS LACK OF MONEY HAS MADE ME SICK!"

Tari: "Hold on Smg4! We will save you, just be brave!"

Nightmare Smg4: "NO! STOP! IT HAS TO BE PERFECT!"

Melony: "Renounce your deal with our friend. Release us from your grasp! Your force has perished in your fire of darkness!"

Meggy: "The nightmares show us nothing but high hopes. The finish line is near."

Mr Puzzles: "Impossible! I will eradicate you from existence...existence!"

Smg3: "I'm sorry but is this is your final attack? How can you call yourself a villain when explosives aren't number one!"

Mr Puzzles: "You've made a fatal mistake. Just give up before you cause more harm. Now watch your final moments that are never forgettable.

Boopkins: "Mr Puzzles, we've done this all to be reunited and now I think that someone needs a hug!"

Mr Puzzles: "You can't give me a fright when other's terror makes me bright. Just abandon all your endeavor before you lose your friend forever!"

Smg2: "We won't fall for your tricks even when you're slick."

Smg1: "Time to do what we should have done long ago!"

One, Two, and Three all join hands as their powers combine, making the crew glow in their signature colors.

Mr Puzzles: "NO! STOP! I'LL MAKE AN OFFER YOU CAN'T REFUSE! I WON'T ALLOW THE ENTERTAINMENT TO STOP NOW!"

Mario: "Oh boy! Can't you see? This is just a simulation! You just landed in Mario's epic fun time game! Boys and girls, let's say so long to this gay bowser! Let the credits roll and Let's a go!"

Saiko: "Your final act is closing now! Release us from your grasp! Your puppets can't make the cut, so time to say farewell!"

Mr Puzzles: "Risking everything all just for him? You'll be banished in a flash! When will you learn that oppression is what conquers?"

Smg3: "Just shut it with your little speech because you fail to intimidate. Release Four and return our home! The curtains drop and applause is silent. Seems like the show is at its close."

As the beam of energy gets larger, they all say one final thing to this washed up TV.

The Crew: "Let us go! Release us from your grasp!"

The TV Adware shields his eyes, but opens them to find that rays of meme powers have hit Smg4. One speaks in a commanding voice to the corrupted man. "Your darkness cannot survive in our energy! Loosen your grip on Smg4's heart and let him speak!" The pink cracks on his face slowly began to melt away as the true Four was awakening. "You...guys came back? You didn't forget about me?" Saiko rolled her eyes and said "God, this guy really infected your brain didn't he?" The monstrous shadow was vanishing as tears began to form in his eyes.

"You mean you didn't replace or reject me?" Tari smiled and said "Of course not! Why would you think that?" Now Four was back in his normal form, but a dark cloud was surrounding him as he was curled up on his knees, holding his head with his hands in pain. "I thought that you would never forgive me for what I did. I wanted to forget it!" Meggy lost her concentration as she cried "FOUR!" Mr Puzzles stomped his foot hard and yelled "ENOUGH! IF YOU DON'T WANT TO HELP ANYMORE THAN I WILL MAKE YOU JOIN ME!" The corrupted version slowly returned as the crew's energy was running out.

"Please no! I don't want to go back! I was so sad and lonely and I wasn't helping anyone! I was hurting them! HELP!" The connection couldn't be held anymore as the glow that clung to them had disappeared. "No! We were so close!" Nightmare Four was back as he grinned in splendor. Mr Puzzles cackled and said "There is no power that can stop me now! You are all mine! You will be remembered Smg4, but as my darkest and cruelest partner that was ever known!" Meggy shot back "He will never be forgotten!"

She helped up her friends and told them "Guys listen! Four is scared that he will be forgotten. We must remember our memories with him or he will give into the darkness forever!" They all nodded and closed their eyes. "That's it! Remember something you love about him!" She thought of the time she had helped Smg4 from his copyright by becoming a lawyer. Mario giggled as he thought of the time where he found Smg3 and him "hugging" in the igloo. Tari remembered when he played video games with her, Bob when he had stopped the rat infestation in the castle, Boopkins when he had played Mario kart and kept getting ties, Luigi when Four told him he was forklift certified, Saiko when they had a rock competition together, Melony when he had helped save her during the face-off with Zer0, and the other supporting characters did as well with details we don't really have to go through.

"You'll always be special to us Smg4!" The light that was created, trapped Four. Mr Puzzles tried to stop it, but he got caught in the crossfire as his screen started to crack. Smg3 took out the remains of his notebook drawing and held it close to his chest. "You mean everything to me Smg4..." He didn't remember just one, but thousands of memories of them together on crazy adventures which deep down he always enjoyed. "I...love you Four. Please come back."

The light exploded and vanquished the darkness, sending Mr Puzzles flying. As his screen shattered into a million pieces, he cried out "NOOOOOO!!!!" (HAH! WHO'S LOW QUALITY NOW SUCKER!) Three ran towards the explosion as he screamed "FOUR!" He saw him laying on the ground in an unconscious state. His eyes shot open as it didn't take long for them to fill with tears."How could I have done that? I believed his lies and let my insecurity get the better of me again. I'm so sorry!" Three was so relieved that he was okay that he threw his arms around Four and pulled him into a embrace.

"I'm so sorry Three! I'm so-"

"Shhhh." Three rubbed his back while tears of his own streamed down his cheeks. "I owe you an apology. I shouldn't have left you. This isn't your fault." Four hugged back as he said "It's not yours either." They looked into each others eyes and Four replied "I love you too..." They softly kissed on the lips while all of their friends came over to congratulate them and very happy to see that Four was okay. "Ha! Mario totally called it!"

Four wiped his eyes and said "Thank you all for reminding me that I am irreplaceable to my friends!"

~A few hours later~

Smg1 and Smg2 waved as they took all the creatures with them. "Don't worry! We'll take good care of them! I think they will liven our place up!" Tari giggled and said "Don't forget to the care of that one. He's a special one." She pointed to the small creature that she had befriended along their journey. One nodded as they went back to their home while the others had a home of their own to take care of.

Three got a brand new notebook and was writing in it at his cafe. Four opened the door and said "Mind if I come in?" Three looked up and said "Sure, but it will cost you a fee." Four rolled his eyes in pleasure and said "Yeah sure." He noticed a page that Three was writing on had a special drawing on it. "What's that?"

"Just something for a special someone." The others came in and Mario said "Mario's hosting a celebration for Smg4's return!" Meggy asked them "You guys want to come?" Three nodded and Four of course had to say yes. It was in his honor after all. Three put his notebook down and they all walked out the door, talking and laughing. The camera panned away from them to the counter where the notebook sat. It showed the specific page that had had a new drawing of Three and Four hugging with a note on the page next to it. The credits rolled as the note read in Three's signature handwriting:

Nightmares are nothing but the fear that live inside of us. Four, you have shown me that we all have the power to defeat it, especially with love. Thank you for these amazing 12 years!

A Grumpy Troll and A Prince

Chapter 1: Lives of Misery and Joy

Once upon a time...

In a happy forest, in the happiest tree lived the happiest creatures ever known...

The trolls!

These cute and tiny creatures loved nothing more than to sing, dance, and hug, dance, and hug, and sing, and dance, and sing, and hug, and dance-

Well you get the idea -_-

But then one day the trolls were discovered by a bergen!

The bergens didn't know how to sing, dance, or hug. They were the most miserable creatures in all the land. Once they saw how happy the trolls were, they wanted some of that happiness for themselves.

Eating a troll made them feel so happy that they started a tradition...

Once a year, every year, the bergens would gather around the troll tree to taste true happiness.

On a holiday called...TROLLSTICE!!!

The king of the bergens was fast asleep until the door slammed open. His son, prince X was already up and had come to wake his father up.

"Good morning dad!"

It was very early in the morning so it was going to be quite hard to get him up at this hour. "Dad wake up!" He was quite pestering, but since he was just a kid it was perfectly understandable why X had so much energy.

He began jumping over the bed as he just kept shouting "Dad! Dad! Dad!" If this exhaustion continued then they might miss this special day. With not a second to lose, the prince grabbed the king's chest hairs and ripped them clean off at full force.

"AHHHHHH!!!!" The king's eyes shot open and he yelled "X! What time is it?" The young prince squealed as he replied "It's trollstice!"

The castle doors flew open as the king yelled out to all of his kingdom "Trollstice! Our one day to be happy!" All of the bergens didn't spare a second as they all hurried to the troll tree that was in the middle of town. They all chanted "We want trolls! We want trolls! We want trolls!"

As they all gathered around the troll tree, a familiar voice addressed the crowd.

"Please give it up for your keeper of the trolls. Your master of happiness. Your royal entertainer..."

The figure that the voice belonged to turned around to find that it was...

"Me."

It was none other than the TV Adware, Mr Puzzles himself. All the bergens cheered, which pleased him very much. He did love a good show after all. "This is a very special trollstice as one of us has never tasted a troll before." The young prince in the crowd gasped. "He's talking about me!" Mr Puzzles stuck a hand out to X .

"Prince X, your time has come." The king gave a warm smile to his son as he reassured him that he had been quite the nervous one when he had his first troll. The prince nodded and took his royal entertainer's hand.

"I present you to the ways of true happiness."

He opened the gate to the tree and pointed to a flower that was sitting on a branch. "I have chosen a extra special troll for you." He took the supposed "troll" and bent down to the little bergen.

"The happiest, most positive, sweetest troll of all...and because every prince deserves royalty, I give you the one they call prince Smg4!"

In pure excitement, X snatched the troll out of Mr Puzzle's hands and whispered "Please make me happy Smg4." He stuck him in his mouth and began chewing. The ominous TV man watched with a smug and curious grin.

"What are you feeling?"

Suddenly, the prince spit out the troll in disgust. "That's rotten!" It actually wasn't a troll at all. Mr Puzzles examined it to find it was only a wooden replica of the actual prince. "It's...fake!?"

"FAKE!?"

Mr Puzzles turned towards the tree in shock and kicked it, causing thousands of copies to rain down, teasing the entertainer for being tricked like that. X started to get worried as his breath quickened. "They're gone!?" The king's anger started to rise as he sternly asked "Where are they..."

Mr Puzzles stuck his hands out defensively and said "Don't worry. I'll find them!" The prince could hear some kind of disturbance in the ground as he placed his head down closer to the ground. It sounded like...the pitter patter of little feet?

Underneath the tunnels, all the trolls were hurrying to escape this hellhole of a kingdom. "Here comes Smg4!" The trolls passed along the little prince up to his father. He had just been born and it was very crucial that the poor little troll was protected at all costs. The king of the trolls breathed a sigh of relief when his son was safe in his arms. "There's my little prince."

One of the trolls informed him that some of the others couldn't keep up. The king had sworn to make sure that none of the trolls were left behind and he was intended to keep that promise. He scooped up any troll that couldn't make it and generously used his clothes to cover mud puddles.

It started to become increasingly harder to catch up as the tunnels were broken into by shovels and pickaxes. What could be going on up there? That question was answered as all the bergens were ferociously digging away on the surface while the king yelled out "DON'T JUST STAND THERE! MAKE MY SON HAPPY!"

Mr Puzzles grabbed a pickaxe and yelled back "HE WILL BE HAPPY!" as he threw it into the ground. As the tunnels were collapsing, that very tool used to slash the ground had caught the king and he was stuck. A shovel was about to block the path so in a flash of heroism, he threw the injured trolls he was carrying to safety.

Luckily they all had made it to the end with the others, but one thing was missing. Where was the king?

"I don't think the king made it..."

They all gasped as it was fair to assume that their heroic and brave leader was dead. He had sacrificed himself for his kingdom. Just when it seemed like all hope was lost, a voice echoed through the tunnel.

"When I said no troll left behind, I meant it!"

The king was okay and...*ahem* uh lacking some body coverage.

One of the trolls realized someone was missing as he piped up "Wait! Where is prince Smg4?" The king gave a reassuring look and said "Don't worry. He's safe." He pulled the prince out from his hair as the cute baby chanted "No troll left behind!"

"Awwww." That was the most adorable thing they had seen all day. The king got back to the matter at hand as he ushered all his subjects away from this terrible place. "But we'll be a lot safer the further we get from bergen town." The trolls had all successfully escaped and were off to find a new place to call home.

Meanwhile at bergen town, the bergens had formed an angry mob and took away Mr Puzzles. "That's right! Take him away! Get him out of my sight!" No matter how much this adware struggled to escape, he could not break free from the angry grasps of the citizens.

"YOU ARE HERBY BANISHED FROM BERGEN TOWN FOREVER!!!"

When the overcome could not be achieved by physical force, Mr Puzzles tried to convince them to give him a second chance. "We can all be happy again! I'll find the trolls!"

They tossed him into the dirt and closed off the passage into the kingdom. Getting up and wiping mud off his face, Mr Puzzles was very irritated on losing his status and reputation. He had a broken antenna and a glitching screen while replying with a cold expression "And I'll shove them down your ungrateful throats..."

Poor X watched the chaos outside as he went up to his dad to ask him a question. "Dad...I never got to eat a troll. What's going to make me happy now?" The king's servant, FM, who was just as old as the young prince, watched the conversation while cleaning the floor.

"Nothing. Absolutely nothing. You will never be happy."

X sulked and wallowed with one final reply. "Never?" His father nodded and the realization sunk in that he would be miserable for the rest of his life. FM couldn't help but feel sorry for the prince as there was a strong feeling that just wanted to make him comfort that young bergen. With nothing but cleaning duties to do, FM sighed and got back to work.

After days of searching, the trolls finally found what they were looking for. A beautiful forest that was filled with luscious resources. The king looked at the sight and announced to his citizens "Here! This is where we will rebuild our civilization! It has everything we need. Fresh air, clean water, and...SWEET ACOUSTICS!" The prince took out his cowbell and began banging it as a catchy rhythm began to play.

~20 years later~

The prince had just finished reading this very story to some troll children. "Twenty years ago today, the king made us safe and now every troll is free to live in perfect harmonyyyyy..." The kids joined in on the sweet sounding key. "That's why we hug every hour!" One of the kids cheered. "Yup!"

"I wish it was every half hour." One of the other kids replied. "So do I, but that wouldn't leave much time for singing and dancing would it?" Suddenly, a question of curiosity entered this innocent child's mind as they shyly raised their hand. "Prince Smg4? Do the bergens still want to eat us?"

"You bet!" They all gasped. Dang. Very subtle to drop that statement on a bunch of young children after reading that terrifying story...

"But just because it's the only way they'll ever be happy."

"Isn't there anything else that will make them happy?"

The young trolls tried to think of solutions that could solve this problem. If it still hadn't been resolved for 20 years then it seemed very unlikely to easily clear that up.

"What about having birthday parties?"

"Or slumber parties!"

"Or staring at your parents while they sleep."

"..."

"I don't want to be food!" Four came over and comforted the frightened little troll. "Don't worry. No troll ever will be." Now back to the more positive side of things as there was a special event going on tonight. "That's why we're celebrating with the biggest party ever! Everybody is going to be there!"

One of the trolls piped with interest about a certain someone. "Everybody...?" The prince was quite confident that "everybody" would be there and he was going to make sure of it. He took out the cowbell that he had ever since he was a baby and began banging it with excitement. The leaves of the plant that they were in, opened up as Four did what he did best.

"Everybody, move your hair and fell united! Ohhh!"

He danced down the staircase and began sliding down a stem as he used his hair to flip himself into the air.

"Everybody, shake your hair and feel united! Ohhhh!"

He began making dramatic poses that models do as the music pumped him up.

"Yeah!"

Four started to hand out invitations from a basket he was carrying for the big party.

"Everybody's coming to the celebration. Imma hook you up with your invitation. Let your hair swing and party with me. No bad vibes just love, you'll see."

He and Bob began to pull out some wicked dj skills on top of some kind of bug-like creature.

"Do the D-A-N-C-E. One-two-three-four fight! Stick to the B-E-A-T. Get ready to ignite!"

The bug creature exploded into hundreds of butterflies as Four and his friends all danced together with all the trolls and all the other creatures that seemed to live with them in the forest.

"You are such a P-Y-T. Catching all the lights. Just easy as A-B-C. That's how you make it right!"

Meggy pulled out a sick beatbox trap as she danced some fancy footwork.

"It ain't hard out here when you're doing it right. Put a smile on blast. That's the troll life!"

"And I'm here to help you through it! Come on Boopkins, I know you can do it!"

Boopkins was trying to lift a huge dumbbell as Four's confidence made him shoot it high into the sky. Using this as an opportunity, Four took the basket of invitations and dumped it down for all the trolls to collect one. Mario wanted to take a picture of his pet, Mario Junior with the invitation. He framed the picture on the wall and tapped his chin in thought.

"Still needs something..."

Luigi got an idea as he took some glitter and threw it on the picture. Mario stood in silence until he turned back to his brother and stared intensely at him.

"That's gay!"

Four and all of his friends, Mario, Meggy, Luigi, Bob, Boopkins, Tari, and Melony were singing and dancing on a leaf that was sliding down the same stem from earlier.

"Don't stop, don't stop, don't stop the beat! I can't stop, can't stop, can't stop the beat! I won't stop, won't stop, won't stop the beat! Go!"

The trolls all began to hold hands as they danced and sang around the forest.

"Everybody, shake your hair and feel united! Ohhhh!"

Turns out troll hair could do a lot more than we knew because the trolls had made their hair blue and wavy to resemble and ocean while using leaves to make the boat while poor Boopkins was stuck as the sail.

"Sunshine day! Everybody's singing! Sunshine day! Everybody move your hair and feel united! Ohhh!"

The trolls began stacking themselves on top of each other with displays of rainbows, hearts, flowers, and of course...glitter.

"Yeah!"

They all breathed heavily as that performance was quite a mouthful. However, not everyone thought it was terrific...

Case in point, one troll was slowly clapping with an disapproving expression on his face. It was Smg3, the grumpiest troll in all of the village. He had quite the faded tone of skin and hair, a prickly beard, and of course, the sourest expression out of all the trolls. Unlike the others, the thought of singing and dancing made him disgusted and he hated all the trolls...especially the prince.

"Unbelievable guys. Really, really great. Good job. I COULD HEAR YOU FROM A MILE AWAY!"

"Good. I was worried we weren't projecting enough."

"Four. If I can hear you...so can the bergens."

The others all rolled their eyes and groaned in annoyance. Three was always complaining about the bergens and how they were going to come back to eat them all. It really made you wonder why he was the only one who was so concerned about this.

"Oh boy."

"Here we go again...🙄"

"Oh Three..."

"You always ruin everything."

"Warning us about the bergens."

Three looked confused. He didn't do it that much. Did he? Turns out he had ruined a birthday party, wedding, and even a funeral with that stupid bergen talk of his.

"Oh come on. We haven't seen a bergen in 20 years. They're not going to find us."

"No. They aren't going to find ME! Because I'll be in my highly camouflaged, heavily fortified, bergen-proof survival lair."

"You mean you aren't coming to the party tonight?"

The others tried to hype up and encourage him to come.

"But it's going to be the biggest..."

"LOUDEST..."

"The craziest party ever!"

Three couldn't believe these idiots. He never showed up to these things for the fear of what risks he was taking if he did.

"Big? Loud!? Crazy!? YOU'RE JUST GOING TO LEAD THE BERGENS RIGHT TO US!"

Mario was getting sick of this guy's attitude as he leaned over to Four and whispered "Are you sure you want to invite this party pooper to poop all over your party?" Four responded with a much more positive tone, despite these two being total opposites of each other.

"Yes! I think everyone deserves to be happy!"

"I don't do happy."

"Three, I know there is happiness inside you. You just need our help to find it."

He pulled out a creative looking invitation that had a little Three, holding a heart that said "Three you're invited!" The mini version of him sang "Celebrate freedom from the bergens!" Three didn't look impressed. That annoyed expression stayed stuck on his face, even when the card spit out glitter all over his face. Four on the other hand, looked at him with a willing face in hopes he would say yes.

"What do you say?"

Three's expression relaxed as he took the card, but then he threw it on the ground and stomped on it as hard as he could.

"Oh my god." Boopkins replied in shock. Nobody expected that, even though Three always acted like a jerk to them. He wiped the glitter off his face while making it perfectly clear to them (for the millionth time) that he would never attend one of these stupid parties.

"I wouldn't be caught dead at your party, but you will be. Caught and dead."

Suddenly, another troll came down from the sky with a more relaxed tone.

"Whoa whoa. Let's calm down here Three."

Tag6 hopped off a firefly that was carrying her, and embraced the sweet bug. "Thank you for my safe passage here. Goodbye." She waved farewell as the firefly flew off. Now let's clear things up shall we. She turned back to Three and said "Okay, first of all, thanks for sharing your unique perspective of things...again."

Mario and Meggy snickered a little as they exchanged glances with each other.

"But just for now, why don't you try a little positivity okay?"

Three sneered at the sweet, polite troll. He always had a grievance with her as she always seemed way too friendly with the other trolls. Not only that, but Four kind of seemed to like her and that only deepened There's hatred. He always tried to tell himself "Why should I care. It's not like I'm jealous or anything." Despite that, something bugged him about seeing those two get closer together.

"Okay fine. I'm positive that you all are going to get eaten."

A glint sound of chimes began to ring as it turned out that their hug time bracelets were going off. "Hug time!" They all squeezed together to include everyone, including Three. He tried to squirm his way out when Luigi wrapped his arms around him. That was the last straw. He pushed out and said to Four "Someday, when the bergens find us and the survival of every troll is in your hands, I sure hope the answer is singing, dancing, and hugging because that's all you know how to do!"

Mario tried to stand up for his friend as he shot back "That's not true! Smg4 can also make memes!"

Three looked angrily into Four's eyes and said one last thing that really hurt his feelings.

"I can't believe you're going to be king one day."

He then walked off with a bunch of sticks that he had collected for his evil villain lair of protection. Four sighed glumly as Tag6 went over to comfort him.

"Don't listen to him. He's just mean and toxic. Some of us just don't want to be happy."

"...I guess."

"You guessed right. Boop."

Tag6 booped his nose as Four smiled and they all went off to get ready for the party. Little did they know, a fearsome foe would soon make his arrival.

Chapter 11: It's time to take your final bow

"We can't just leave them there like that!"

Smg1 and Smg2 had arrived back at the Showgrounds, escaping the TV that played them like puppets. "Don't worry, we'll save them, but we have to protect the others first." The tanks were fired rapidly as Swag just kept screaming "KEEP LOADING UP THE TANKS! I WILL SHOOT DOWN THESE THINGS IF IT'S THE LAST THING I DO!" It turns out that the awful creatures that had trapped the crew came back to take over the Showgrounds and across the Mushroom Kingdom.

Chris was trying to evacuate everyone when he noticed two figures. "One and Two!? But where are the others?" They both sighed sadly and responded with such a sorrowful tone that it was surely a moment of grief. "They've been...captured..." Karen was sheltering her kids and the pets when they heard the unfortunate news. Beeg and Eggdog ran up to the meme guardians, wondering if their parents were okay. "We're so sorry you two...Smg3 is gone and Smg4 is controlled by the TV Adware."

The pets hung their heads as the guardians picked them up. This was a very sad moment, but it couldn't last forever. One snapped out of his thoughts of misery and got back to the matter at hand. "There's no time to dwell on that now. Smg4 and the TV Adware will be here soon to take over our home!"

"Don't worry, we'll be ready." Chris and Swag got the military to build defenses all around and the others were done fleeing for their lives. Shroom loaded up a gun while the teletubies took out weapons such a spears and maces. The end is near...

~Back in the nightmare realm~

"LET US OUT YOU PIECE OF CRAP!"

"Bob...that's not going to work." Saiko just sat on the floor, head in her hands as she watched Bob rattling the chains and shouting out weak commands. "WELL WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO!?" She rolled her eyes and said "Apparently overreacting like a five year old because someone here is too irresponsible."

"WHAT!? YOU'RE ONE TO TALK! YOU SWING THAT SUCKY HAMMER LIKE YOU'RE INSANE!!!"

Saiko got up and pointed a stern finger at bob in a fit or rage. "WELL MAYBE I'M JUST TRYING TO PROTECT MY FRIENDS! YOU'D THINK OF THAT!" Meggy watched as the two bickered on, desperately trying to think of a plan. "Guys! Enough!!!" Boopkins hid behind Tari while she comforted that poor little traumatized creature. "Wait!" Melony broke up the argument and urged them all to be quiet.

"Do you all hear that?" She got closer to the bars and stuck her ear out. The others did the same as a faint screaming could be heard from above them. "Oooo is it the tv guy?" Meggy pondered what unearth it could be until she recognized the voice. "No Mario...it sounds like...THREE! HE'S HERE!" They all cheered as they were relieved that he was safe and would hopefully rescue them. "We have to find someway to let Three know we're down here!"

Mr Puzzles watched amusingly as Three kicked and screamed until he noticed a purple book, slipping out of his pocket. He picked it up and flipped through the pages. "Oi! That's mine and your not allowed to look in it! Read the cover idiot!" This book seemed familiar to him as one picture in particular caught his eyes. "Ah yes. The notebook that I had sent Marty to retrieve a couple months ago."

"You did that? I'll kill you! Because of you, Four has had awful nightmares!" Mr Puzzles flipped the notebook around to reveal that wholesome sketch that Three did of him and Four, holding coffee cups. "Well you see, that's the problem. Apparently there is still a small bit of Smg4 left in my partner of nightmares." Three couldn't believe it. There was still time to save Four.

"What!? You have to set him free! YOU'RE A MONSTER!" Mr Puzzles just sneered as he shot back "Not a chance! You will watch as your beloved friend destroys your home along with all the love you have for him. Then his transformation will be permanent!" He tore the notebook, right in front of Three's eyes and tossed it onto the ground.

"NOOOOO!!!" Three watched in utter despair as the drawing and everything else that he had ever written was gone. Reduced to nothing. That corrupted Four came up to his master with a dastardly smile, twirling the key around his fingers. "I like the sound of that." The tears couldn't stop flooding from Three's eyes as the thought of losing Four forever made his heart ache.

"Now it is time for the era of nightmare rule!" Mr Puzzles cackled as he left to make his way to that soon to be powerful kingdom he had promised. Four followed behind unit he noticed a scarp of paper besides the crying man. He picked it up and studied it. Three noticed the interest and wiped the tears from his eyes. "Four? Do you remember that day when we got my notebook back!?" Four gasped as the memories came flooding back to when they sat together, drinking coffee and enjoying each other's company.

"What are you writing?"

"I'll never tell!"

That lovable idiot was fighting his way through, but the nightmares wouldn't allow it. He shut his eyes and threw the piece of paper on the ground. "NO!" Three watched in horror as he stomped his foot down on the paper and said "I will take over your home and watch as you lose all sense of hope!" He trudges off as Three sighs. "I thought you might say that..."

He takes out a gun and says "That's why I came prepared." He shot the tentacles, making them let go in thriving pain as he rushed back into the castle. Now that those two were gone, Three could make his way feely to find his friends. "The dungeon can't be this hard to find." Suddenly some barely audible screaming was heard. "That has to be them." He went down a staircase as the voices got louder. "Yes!" He sprinted down until he rushed up to a cage and...THERE THEY WERE!

"Three! You're okay!" Three nodded as he said "Don't worry. I'll get you out."

"But how? You don't have the-" Three pulled out a shiny object that looked like a "Key?" The others gasped as Mario cheered "SMG3 IS THE BEST!" Meggy stared blankly at him as he opened the cell. "But how did you-"

"I have my ways. Now come on! We have to stop that TV creep and Smg4 before they take over all of the Mushroom Kingdom!" They all bolted off as Three noticed something that Tari was carrying. "What the hell is that?" Tai giggled and said "Don't worry! He's my friend!" Three din't bother to ask as they made it out of the castle and saw a wide opening. "That must be where they got out!"

"HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO GET UP THERE!?" Three stared at his hands and remembered something. He spun around to the others and said "Mr Puzzles said that there was still a part of Smg4 left in his corrupted version. If he's still in there, we can still use our connection to teleport to him!"

"Mr Puzzles? You mean the TV Adware?" Meggy gerked her head a bit. "Doesn't matter." Three takes a breath and concentrates hard. "Come on Four...help us out here."

The Final Showdown is about to begin...

Hey guys, I have a huge announcement for you...

Shrek AU Animatic Collaboration

Thank you to @b-r-i-n-g-x and @shygirl4991 for giving me permission for this project!

So here's how this works...

I'm going to be making an animatic of the I need a hero scene from shrek 2, but with He's a prince, and I'm an ogre by b-r-i-n-g-x. However, since I'm not really one for doing drawing that often I'm going to let you guys do It instead. Pick any part you want to draw or animate and post it on tumblr. Once I have received enough submissions, I will put the project together for you guys to see the final outcome.

Chapter 10: Don't Believe it's Deceptions

Three couldn't believe his eyes. It was Four, back to his normal self. Well not exactly his "normal" self. He was wearing a thick blue robe and had on a sparkling crown like he was the damsel in distress that was about to be saved. Or maybe that's what someone wanted Three to believe...

"Four! You're okay!" Three ran up and embraced him with tears of joy that overflowed his eyes and spilled down his cheeks. "Of course! Why wouldn't I be? I am the ruler of the memes and have the most popular Youtube channel after all." Three wrapped his hands around Four's and looked straight into his ocean blue eyes. "That's wonderful, but what about our fri-"

The man dressed in royal blue stuck a finger over Three's mouth, signifying the silence he wished for. "Shhhh. You do not need to worry about them ever again. Besides, I have a question for you." What could Four possibly want from Three? A favor? A compliment? A apology? A proposition?

Four pulled out another crown that looked similar to his and hovered over Three. His gut was telling him to run, to smack the crown out of that dreadful grip, to do anything but stand there, but he didn't. Some other feeling made him stay willingly. To not let Four out of his sight ever again. "Will you, Smg3..." He listened closely to what his partner said as his pupils were shaped like hearts. Beginning to kneel down on his knees and bow his head, not taking a second off the dazzling man of his dreams.

"Forget the past..." Three slowly nodded as he removed his hat to let Four place the crown on his head. Was he finally going to get the life his heart wanted. To be with Smg4 in peace and tranquility together. "And be my..." Four had almost placed the crown atop Three's head when suddenly his romantic thoughts vanished.

"Did you say...forget the past?" Four raised an eyebrow and said "Yes. Yes I did." Three pushed the crown away, gaining back his sense of logic. The others were in danger and he couldn't just forget them. "But I don't want to forget my past. What about all we have been through since we met. And our friends. Don't you want to save them?"

This prince of blue was starting to get irritated. "This is much harder than I thought." he said to himself. Taking a deep breath, he cleared his throat and said in a sweet voice "But Three, don't you want to be my side? Forever?"

"Disgusting. Having to suck up to this fool. I can't believe I'm connected to him." Three began to succumb, losing his bravery just like Four did. "Yes..." He closed his eyes, thinking to himself. "I will protect you Four, no matter what." He slowly opened them to see Four's squinted eyes as he placed the crown on his head. Wait...his eyes don't look...

Three placed the crown down and said "Four? Do you care about me?" The man jumped back surprised, placed a fake smile, and laughed nervously. "Of course!" Three could tell something was off about him. "That's it.? After all we've been through?" Four and Three rarely ever admitted how much they cared for each other now that they were friends (and perhaps even more), but he would never make a quick remark like that when it came down to this. "This is the first time that I've hated you for saying you like me..." Three doubtfully said.

He then spat out in a fit of realization that this was a phony trick. "YOU'RE NOT FOUR! SHOW YOURSELF IMPOSTER!!!" The fake Four started to laugh as the scene melted away and the dark, possessed Four stood in his place. "It seems you have discovered my little trick. Not only can I create your nightmares, but I can create your dreams too!" Tentacles started to engulf Three as he tried to speak in a gasping breath. "But Four I l-l...I lo-lov..."

The being in front of him just rolled his eyes as he pulled out the key. "Is this what you were looking for? Come with me! We're going to take a little stroll." The tentacles pulled him all the way to that dastardly Mr Puzzles. "Master. I have captured him just as you wished."

"Excellent." He looked at the squirming and exhausted Three as he placed a hand on his chin. "Poor Smg3. Couldn't save your dear little friend? Don't worry, it's too late for him and your friends!" Three growled with anger as he screamed in an exasperated breath "I will never surrender to you creep! Throw me in a dungeon if you want! I don't care!"

The TV screen started to glitch as Mr Puzzles started to snicker. "Help? What could a silly, weak, pretentious fool like yourself possibly help me with? The nightmare has only just begun!"

Who can stop me now?

Chapter 9: Nothing is What it Seems

Our hero's were in a bit of a pickle. Three was gone, There was still no reply from Smg1 and Smg2, who had gone back to protect the Mushroom Kingdom, and the rest of them were locked in a cold and damp dungeon.

Bob tried to use a crowbar he made from the environment around him, but it broke on the bars. "DANG IT!" Turns out whatever was lying around was of no use in escape. "Really Bob?" Saiko asked with her arms crossed. "WHAT!? DO YOU WANT TO ESCAPE OR NOT!?"

"What can we do now?" Tari asked. "One and Two aren't here to help us and we aren't strong enough without Three and Four." Meggy tried putting a hand on Tari's to encourage her. "We have to be strong for our friends. I'm sure that One and Two are doing everything they can and I bet Three is on his way right now."

"Well if he is coming...CAN HE HURRY UP! I'M CLAUSTROPHOBIC!" Luigi was hyperventilating as this enclosed space made him think he was going to go lightheaded or something. "Mario do you have any ideas?" Meggy asked. Mario was drawing a picture in the dirt while humming to himself.

Meggy took a closer look and saw that the picture was stick-drawings of him and Four. "Are you okay Red?" Mario turned up to her and said "Mario's having lotsa fun! We will escape and turn Smg4 back to normal!" The others went quiet. Even if there was a possibility they could escape, Four was long gone. How could they bring him back now? "Mario look...there's something I need to tell you. Smg4's not-"

"Wait!" Meggy turned to see Tari kneeling down by the bars and sticking her hand out. "It's okay little guy. We won't hurt you." The crew watched closely as a sad, goopy creature came out of the shadows and sniffed Tari's hand. Bob made disgusted face and yelled "DID SHE GET HIT ON THE HEAD OR SOMETHING!? THAT PIECE OF CRAP CAN'T HELP US! THREE COULDN'T EVEN SAVE US!" Meggy decided to trust Tari's instincts and watched sweetly as Tari cuddled the poor thing. "Three...I hope he's okay."

~Back on the other side of the realm~

Three was laying unconscious on the ground. He suddenly started twitching and woke up in a state of panic. He looked around and observed his surroundings. "Where the hell am I?" Things finally settled into him as he recalled his friends in danger, being flung by that stupid tentacle (he would have to kick his butt later), and Four... didn't even listen to his reasoning this time.

No. Not again. He's still in there...somewhere. He got up and made his way to a dark castle in the distance. No doubt that it was where the TV Adware lives. "You can do this Smg3. Sure you're stuck in this hellhole, but your friends need you. This is the time to show everyone that you've changed." The castle slowly got closer in view and every time it did, Three could feel his heart pumping. "Did Smg1 or Smg2 ever tell us his name?" Three thought to himself. Probably something real full of himself like Mr. Puzzles.

Whatever his name is, Three knew one thing about him for sure. He wouldn't keep Smg4 for much longer if he had anything to do with it. He ran, and ran, and ran. "God this castle looked much closer from my view." His legs started to wear out and Three thought he was going to collapse. "Note to self: I should have Eggdog set up a home gym when I get home."

He then realized he was at the foot of the castle and took a deep breath. "Four and the others have to be in there somewhere." He looked for an opening, but there was none to be found. Wait! There was a balcony. "Okay Three, time to do a bit of climbing.

"There is no time to waste! If we want the Showgrounds and the Mushroom Kingdom, we must go now while those meddling mortals are locked up." As Mr. Puzzles stared into the abyss from the balcony, Four raised an eyebrow. "But master, aren't they still a threat to us?"

Mr. Puzzled turned around and softly raised Four's chin to meet his gazing eyes. "Oh Four. My dear, sweet, perfect Four. I picked you for a reason. To render your friends powerless!" Four shook his head and looked down at the ground, but then looked back up. "Master? May I ask you something?"

"Of course!"

"Why did you choose me in particular? Isn't Three the one you are worried about." Speaking of the man and doth he appears. He was about to climb over the rails until he saw the two talking and quickly ducked. "What was that?" The two dismissed it as Mr. Puzzles continued. Curiosity got the better of Three as he peaked over to hear their conversation. "I chose you specifically because...shall we say you have some self-esteem issues?"

Four was quipped with inquiry as he wanted to hear more. "I needed someone who was willing to be able to break through my bonds. That old self of yours was so eager to make his suffering end. So stressed with perfection. But he had a deep underwhelming fear that I just knew would make him cave."

Three gasped. His nightmare was right. That TV was right. Four was right. If he had just prevented this from the start then all of this could have been avoided. "Darn your selfishness Three!" He thought to himself. He then spiraled out of his thoughts when he heard the corrupted being say "What do we do with the prisoners when we win?"

"Leave them in the dungeon for now."

"Dungeon? They're still okay?" Alright, better help them first if he wants to save Four. Mr. Puzzles went back inside and started laughing. "Or we could lock them up and throw away the key!" He gave a small shiny key to Four and Three watched him put it in his pocket.

Once the coast was clear, Three snuck through the door to find a hallway lined with doors. "Well this won't take hours to find them." He said in a sarcastic tone. A staircase caught his eye has he snuck down. "Well dungeons are always downstairs right?" When he got to the bottom, that thick black fog was covering the room. He stepped through only to be found back at the main lobby of Four's castle.

"The Showgrounds again?" A figure crept out from the door in front of him. Once he saw it, he could tell this wasn't a nightmare.

Chapter 8: Are You Ready For The Next Show?

Swag and Chris were getting the military ready while the others were discussing what to do. Karen was keeping her kids and the pets safe as she had kind of that caring mother's side to her. "The preparations are almost complete. If something is coming then we will be ready." Swag was more excited for this as he hoped it would be just like the last time. "IF THERE IS A DISTURBANCE IN MY TOWN THEN I'LL BE READY!" Chris raised an eyebrow and said "You'll be ready?"

"SHUT UP CHRIS!" Shroomy came up to them and said "Scoutmaster Shroomy is here to help anyway he can!" Swag wasn't convinced, but Chris knew that they would need all the help they could get. "We must hurry before-" Suddenly a striking thunder sound shook the ground. A shadow like creature of a familiar figure was hovering above them. The citizens started panicking as they ran in different directions.

"May I offer you some corn in these trying times?" Rob offered, but no-one listened. "SMG4 IS EVIL AGAIN! QUICK ARM THE TANKS!" Chris watched as he noticed something different, but he couldn't tell what it was. "But he doesn't look like..."

Back in the nightmare dimension, the presumable Smg4 spoke as the others looked horrified. "Its true that you have defeated me before, but what will you do now that I have returned? Without all of you, your little powers are useless. At bit of a sticky situation isn't it?"

Bob showed no fear as he yelled out "BRO I AIN'T SCARED OF YOUR PINK CRAP! COME AT ME!" Smg4 laughed and said "Really? That's the best you got. I've heard of much better comebacks than that." Meggy tried to reach out to him as she said in a concerned tone "Four? Can you hear me? You have to fight it!"

The man was getting annoyed as he took more serious approach. "You are all so dense! Remember those forces you all 'destroyed' with your little powers when the TV Adware was around? Well guess what? You didn't do such a great job after all. He now controls your friend... me I suppose. SMG4 IS GONE!"

The TV Adware was watching this all unfold with a creepy but pleased smile on his face. Saiko stood her ground as she said "I don't believe you. Four is still in there and I'm sure of it!" Mario pushed Saiko aside as he had his own plan. "Smg4 just needs a little reassurance from his best friend! Something only he would remember!" He got into Four's face and started remencing a memory of them.

"Likkkkeee Smg4 remember when you and Smg3 got trapped in the igloo and Mario had to come and save you! He had found you two making love to each other and you were so embarrassed that you made Mario promise to never ever tell!" Four immediately froze, but then rolled his eyes when Mario realized what he did. "Oops. Mario just did." Three wasn't really worried about what Mario had just spilled about him as he couldn't bear to see this awful sight. He tried to bring Four back by giving him words of encouragement like last time.

"Four? It's me Three. You know me right? I...you... I don't want to lose you again. Please come back." It seemed to be working as he saw tears forming in the man's eyes. His pupils went to their usual blue for a second and his eyebrows went soft. "Three..." However, the attempt failed as Four shut his eyes and clenched his fists. He stomped his foot hard on the ground and yelled "ENOUGH!"

He turned towards Three and said "You had so much power and what did you give it up for? These weaklings?" Three resisted as he shot back "You're wrong!" He tried to sway Three into returning to his state of guilt. "If you had just prevented me from falling back to my past, your precious friends could have been spared. You have done this to all of us and we will never forgive you!"

Meggy pulled him away and said "Don't listen to him Three! He's trying to get into your head!" Four inched closer. "They say that, but who could possibly forgive someone who almost killed them like that?"

Mario decided to stand up to this big bully and said "Alright fake Smg4! Mario is not sorry and there are many embarrassing moments where that one came from!" The cracks etched deeper on Four's face as the dark, goopy creatures surrounded all of them. "It doesn't matter what you say. I am taking over the Showgrounds and you will be powerless to stop it! Take them down!" The creatures immediately attacked, swarming and whooshing around the crew. Saiko started to run from one while shouting "Come get me you stupid tentacle!"

Another one was coming after her, but she dodged both of them at the last second, causing them to crash into each other. Meggy defended herself with her splatshot, One and Two with their meme powers, and the others had their own unique talents for dealing with them. Meggy didn't realize that one of the creatures was behind her and was about to pounce on her when...

Three stopped it and yelled "Oh no you don't! I already let you take one of my friends! I'm not letting you do it to another!" The creature flared around, but it didn't take long for Three to get exhausted. The tentacle flung him off into the distance. "THREE!" Meggy called out, but it was too late. The creatures were getting stronger and the others couldn't fight them off any longer.

As Meggy found herself being wrapped up by one of the tentacles, she called out to One and Two. "Go home and get help!" Two cried out "We can't just leave you here!" Saiko called out "You have to go now or the Showgrounds won't stand a chance!"

"We'll be okay!" Tari said to try and convince them. One placed his hand on Two's shoulder and they both nodded. They teleported themselves back home, but before they did, they both said "Hang tight. We'll come back for you!"

They were all caught by the creatures as Four said "Take them to the dungeon. I'll deal with them later." The creatures took off with them while Mario still had confidence he could escape. "Mario will get out! You'll see!" He tried wiggling, but no amount of effort would get him to escape the grasp.

As they walked off, the TV Adware walked up to Four. "Remember our deal. Make sure that they do not stand in our way this time." He slowly nodded and said "Don't worry. This time they won't stand in our way.”

The Showgrounds will be mine…

Chapter 7: You Can't Escape Your Fears

Saiko was putting on a rock concert for all the citizens of the Mushroom Kingdom. She thought she was doing well until the crowd started to turn on her. A chanting of booing came from the crowd and they all shouted mean insults.

"You suck!"

"I wasted my time on this!?"

"You'll never become a rockstar!"

Saiko could feel her fear overcome her until someone jumped onto the stage. "Saiko! It's not real!" Three had come to save her along with One and Two. "No! Look at this! I'll never achieve my dream of being a famous rockstar!" One tried to persuade her that this was all fake. "This is all just a nightmare. See?" Saiko turned to see how the crowd had a shadowy look to it. Of course! The mist of nightmares. "My fear is what's causing this?" Gaining back her confidence, Saiko picked up her guitar and shouted "I AM NOT AFRAID OF YOU MONSTERS!!!" She had escaped the smoke and was back with the other three.

Mario was despairing as the world had run out of spaghetti. Three came crashing through the door and yelled "Mario snap out of it! It's just a nightmare!" He was still shaking as he said through his tears "But...Mario will never be with his true love again..." Saiko used her hammer to slam through. "Wake up Mario! We need your help!" He remembered how much he loved his friends and how he really wanted to save Smg4. He stood up and screamed "You think you can scare Mario with your dumb tricks. Well guess what? Mario is strong and he will not let you control him!" The scene faded away as he hugged his friends and thanked them for saving him.

Tari was surrounded by hundreds of angry ducks. "I'm sorry. I never wanted to hurt you all. I just love you so much." The ducks didn't listen as they inched closer. Mario hurdled into the room with a gun and said "Freeze!" Three came up behind him with Saiko and said "Tari those ducks are stupid fakers!" Mario grabbed one and shook it with all his might. "FAKER!" Tari was still panicked induced as she still defended her "little friends." "No. They are just scared. I should have treated them better." Saiko pulled out her hammer as the ducks attacked her. "Look around Tari! This is just the work of the nightmare mist!" Tari gasped as she said "How could they?"

Bob was trying to be a successful rapper, but nobody supported him. All the friends that he had made over the years went back to their old ways of rejecting him and pushing him aside. Even Birdo didn't think he was cool anymore. He was about to give up when he heard clapping in the distance. Mario was supporting Bob and the others had came to get him. "This is just a nightmare Bob!" Saiko questionably said "Your worst fear is being rejected from rapping?" Bob tried to deny it. "NO." Saiko then knew what to do to snap him out of his nightmares. "Then prove it." Bob took his microphone and smashed it on the ground. "SHUT UP! I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU THINK!"

Melony's nightmare was taking a huge hit on her. She had failed to rescue Axol and now she was all alone. Zer0 had won and killed all of her friends. Just then a huge team of heroes stepped in to fight the eldritch monster. "Melony help us!" Tari called out as she looked up from her tears. "B-b-but Axol i-i-is..." Saiko sighed and said "I know. But we defeated Zer0 and we can defeat this nightmare as well." Melony rubbed her tears and inquired "This is a nightmare?" She turned to the huge creature and remembered how she saved all her friends in 2021 and 2022. That filled her with determination, as she pulled out her sword and ended the life of this bad dream.

Luigi was running his successful flower shop until he got terrible news that it was being shut down forever. He curled up into a ball on the ground and started crying. "Luigi!" He looked up to see who that familiar voice belonged to. "Wake up!" shouted Mario as he kept slapping his brother on the face. "What about my flower shop?" Tari stood in a confident pose and told him "Remember when Meggy coached us. Don't let her or your friends down. I faced my fears and so can you!" Luigi remembered Meggy's final assignment as a flashback of her giving him a thumbs up was playing and Boopkins was dressed in her beanie and headphones. He got up with a determined face and yelled "You're just a stupid nightmare! You don't scare me!"

Boopkins was crying while holding a picture of him and JubJub. Bob burst in and said "LET'S GO BOOPKINS!" He turned and said "I failed on protecting my brother. I'll never see him again." Bob rolled his eyes and said "BEING SAD ISN'T AN EXCUSE! GET A MOVE ON!" Boopkins wiped tears from his eyes. "THIS IS A NIGHTMARE!" Boopkins looked around and realized that it was. JubJub was back home and safe. Boopkins threw his arms in the air and yelled "I am not afraid!" Bob watched and then turned to the camera. "DANG BOB. YOU'RE A NATURAL."

There was only one person left...

Meggy had lost the big game of splatfest. The crowd was yelling in disbelief and Desti looked at her. "You promised to win splatfest for me." One Shot Wren shook his head and said "I expected better things from you kid." She held her head in her hands and whispered "I tried. I really did try." Her friends came running into the stadium. "Meggy snap out of it! It's only your fear!" Three tried to call out to her, but the opposing team started shooting them with their splatshots. While they all tried to avoid it, Three said to them "You distract them while I try to save Meggy." Bob immediately pulled out his grenade launcher and says "NOW YOU'LL SEE HOW A TRUE ATHLETE DOES IT!" Three slipped through the crowd up to Meggy, but the nightmare versions of Desti and Wren stopped him.

They tried to punch and kick him, so he thew them off the ledge. "Get out of here you stupid nightmare creatures." He ran up to her and tried to snap her out of it. "Meggy let's go now!" Her eyes were still full of tears as she whimpered "I lost. I'm a failure. I deserve this..." Three stopped in his tracks when he heard what Meggy said. "Believe me, I know how that feels." Three mumbled as Meggy looked up. "All those times I was lost in thought, it was about Four. My worst fear is that I failed to protect him and he died because of me." Meggy didn't move an inch.

"I just don't want to lose him...or you." He looks towards the ground, but then feels a warm embrace. Meggy hugs him and says "Thank you Three. I don't want to lose you either." He smiles and puts his arms around her as well. After a few seconds he pushes Meggy away from him and reverts back to his tsundere behavior. "Okay that's enough. Give me some space squid." She giggles and looks down to see that the rest of her friends are in trouble. She grabs her splatshot and fires at all the inklings. Once she defeats them, the scene melts away and they all find themselves back in the Nightmare realm.

They weren't alone as the icky creatures were surrounding them. "Ooooo very scary goop." Mario said, wriggling his fingers. They then see a man with a tv head come out of the shadows. "But some of you still are." He said as he directed his attention to Three. "Isn't that right Smg3?" He backed up, but didn't let his guard down. "I won't believe your dirty lies." The smile on the screen did not fade away. It actually got a bit wider. "But there is something you fear. If you surrender, I might be willing to spare your little friends."

An uneasy expression went across his face as the TV Adware continued. "After all they have done for you, this is how you repay them? Taking Smg4 away from them?" Darkness crept closer as Three yelled out in a state of defeat "No! They did nothing wrong! I'm the one who deserves this! I will-" He was about to make a deal with the Adware till Meggy stopped him. "NO! Smg3, you're our friend and you aren't going anywhere. Nobody blames you for what happened."

He stops in shock. "I'm your friend?" They all nodded. "Of course! Mario loves you!" Tari took a gentle approach. "And we know we can trust you." The TV Adware backed up and said in a slick voice "Well I see you have some real friends. Those who would do anything for you."

"This is your last chance. Before they see what you let happen." The others were confused, but Three knew what he meant. "You wouldn't dare..." Only Meggy, Mario, and Three saw their corrupted friend from the inside. Everyone else had taken on the goop outside.

The Adware chuckled and said "Well it seems we are not able to make an...arrangement. Don't worry though. I came prepared. I will get the kingdom I so desperately deserve."

A pink light started to shine through as a figure came up behind him. The creature had pink cracks on his face, his clothes were dirty, and his eyes looked desperately strained. When he was seen clearly in the light, everyone gasped in shock as they all said the same thing. "SMG4!?"

"Now you will all be destroyed and the Mushroom Kingdom will be defenseless! Meet my new friend...NIGHTMARE FOUR!!!"

Your friend is mine now...
