—————————————
Heim often wandered out of his territory to try and look for prospective buyers (or just to sightsee) and one day he saw another Realtor walking down the other side of the street.
He was wearing a striking red suit that seemed to match the newly turned autumn leaves with sleeves that flared out at the ends, matching with his dark bell bottoms. His black heels clacked against the concrete in a hypnotizing way as he walked with his hands clasped behind his back. Though the thing that Heim fixated on was the man’s face. Like most other Realtors, the man’s face was a static toothy smile, teeth bright as the sun, with dark pinprick pupils. But there was something different about him, something that made Heim’s cheeks heat up when he looked at him.
Heim stopped walking for a second and simply watched the other Realtor as he approached a young woman, seemingly a tourist based off the fact she was holding a pamphlet for the valley in their hands.
He watched him talk with the woman for a minute. Heim couldn’t hear the exact words, but he could hear the deep monotone tone in the man’s voice as he spoke. He handed the woman his card and walked away. The woman glanced down at the card for a second before chucking it into the grass. It seemed she wasn’t as clueless as Heim had assumed.
He waited for her to walk away before jogging across the street to look at the mysterious man’s business card. His name was Maison, Maison Talo, #1 Realtor in all of the valley. He simply held the card for a couple seconds before tucking it away into his pants pocket.
After that Heim was like a moth attracted to a flame. Every day he walked the same path, hoping to see Maison on his way. Most of the time he wouldn’t be there. But when he was, Heim would stop and watch him walk by. Every time he looked at him he would feel warmth bloom in his chest, a scarlet draping across his cheeks, and his imperfect smile grow wide.
Maison had easily wrapped Heim around his finger without even speaking a word to him.
This went on for a month or two before Heim decided he needed to do something.
What was the quickest way to a man’s heart? Flowers! Wait, the saying says food. Eh, why not both?
And so Heim gathered what small amount of money he had and prepared to go to the shops. Heim had to get this right, he only had one chance at this after all . He didn’t possess the time manipulation powers some residents of the valley had, sadly.
First, the flowers. Heim held his head high as he walked into the flower store. He always walked by it, sometimes sitting on the bench outside the window to catch his breath before continuing his walk. The outside was always covered in beautiful seasonal flowers, right now it had hydrangeas and marigolds on the outside of the building.
He walked in before being greeted by the owner of the store, Ms. Aster.
“Well hi Mr.Baile, what brings you in here today?” She waved and smiled from behind the counter. She was carrying a small vase of cornflowers and putting them on the counter next to the register.
“Evening Ms.Aster, I’m here to look at your roses,” he bowed very slightly while smiling at her.
“Well, why would you need roses Heim?” She laughed slightly, in a playful way “you going on a date?”
Heim felt his cheeks heat up again as images of Maison flashed through his mind. He chuckled nervously while rubbing the back of his neck and averting his eyes. He decided to look at the bushels of red roses to try and not expose himself, as if he didn’t already. He could feel Ms.Aster’s eyes boring into the back of his head.
He checked the price tags and was absolutely flabbergasted. 40-60 dollars for a bouquet of roses!? He took out his wallet to see what money he had, half expecting a fly to fly out of his wallet as he opened it. Yeah, no, he definitely didn’t have enough.
He sighed and put his wallet away, turning to walk out the door.
“Oh well hey Heim, what’s wrong?”
“Ah, I just..uh…didn’t really find anything to my liking. Y’know? Heh…”
“Oh well, if you can’t afford a bouquet, you can buy a single rose”
It seemed that pretty much everyone knew he was broke, huh? Heim thought for a second. Maybe Maison would like the minimalism of a single rose? No, this was the best Realtor in the valley we’re talking about! If he wanted to woo the man, he would need something big. Heim needed something to reflect how he felt, and his feelings towards Maison were anything but minimal.
Heim rejected her offer before leaving the store and going on his less than merry way.
Heim thought and thought as he walked down the street. He couldn’t just give Maison some food, that would look bad. He didn’t want Maison to be insulted, like Heim thought he couldn’t get his own food. He obviously could! He was the best damn Realtor in the valley!
Heim was broken out his spiral by the sound of sprinklers going off on someone’s lawn. He looked towards the house and was immediately drawn to the beautiful garden in front of the windows, where the owner of this building was growing black roses.
They looked like prize winning roses, with a sign next to them saying…oh, “prize winning roses of The Rose Garden Competition of 20XX”. Okay, well that checks out.
Well now Heim was caught in a dilemma. On one hand, he didn’t want to hurt the person who grew the roses. They obviously spent their a large amount of time caring for and making sure these gorgeous roses were the best they could be.
On the other hand, Heim had literally eaten a person before. This wouldn’t be the worst thing he’s done. Okay yeah he’s taking those roses. He’ll try to pay the owner back. Try.
The sprinkler on the lawn stopped. Heim looked left and right before running as fast as he could across the grass, praying there aren’t cameras. He knelt down and picked five flowers, careful not to cut the skin of his lure on the thorns. He went to pick another, when he suddenly heard a hard noise behind him. He tuned to face the noise and was immediately assaulted by a spray of water from the sprinkler.
He coughed, some water going into his mouth. He scrambled up off his now muddy knees and off the lawn. He ran down the street, roses still clutched in his hand as he wiped the water from his eyes.
After he was a well’s way away from the house, he looked down to see his knees and cuffs were muddied and the rest of this suit was soaked. He didn’t even get a full bouquet like he had planned. The small amount of roses somehow seemed worse than a singular one. At least they were black, hopefully Maison would like them better than the red. Hopefully.
It was a long walk to supermarket, and Heim could feel people watching him. A man covered in water and mud was definitely a strange sight on a sunny day.
He took maybe a bit longer than he should have considering his options. Should he get meat or vegetables? Realtors are omnivores after all.
What if Maison wasn’t feeling like eating meat the day Heim approached him? No, that’s silly.
Okay, but what type of meat did he prefer? Heim personally preferred beef, but pork tasted not similar to human flesh. How do you shop for someone you haven’t even talked to?
Heim simply stood there calculating all possible options in his head before someone finally tapped him on the shoulder.
“Uhm, sir, can you move out of the way?” It was an elderly woman, seemingly around the same age as Heim himself. He didn’t realize he was blocking people from buying things.
“Ah, sorry ma’am,” he stepped out of the way for her, and continued to look at his options as she picked out some chicken breasts.
It seemed that she knew he was stressed, it wasn’t like he was good at hiding it, because she pointed to a package of beef before speaking to him.
“I like that one, real nice flavor. It’s a bit pricey though, so I usually just get the cheaper kind. Your pick though,” she was pointing to a wagyu steak.
Heim picked up the packaging, he had heard this stuff was extremely expensive, but when he looked at the tag it said it was only 40 dollars. Yes that’s all the money in his wallet, but it was something he could afford!
He thanked the woman profusely before checking out, using the damp bills to pay. The cashier seemed quietly concerned about Heim, but didn’t ask any questions.

Heim was holding his head high again while thinking of the proper way to ask Maison out on a date. Should he cook the steak? He never cooked wagyu before, and he didn’t know if Maison preferred cooked or raw meat. Maybe he should cut in half and only cook one half? Yeah! That’s exactly what he’ll do.
He’ll walk up to Maison, flowers in hand, hand him the meat he prepared as he talks about all the things he love about-
Suddenly Heim was hit by something moving towards him. He nearly dropped the steak and seemingly dropped one of the roses. He shook his head before looking up at what hit him and…oh god no.
Heim just ran into the person he’s had a crush on for the past two months while being covered in mud and carrying stolen roses and raw beef.
Heim looked up at Maison, and he had that same cold expression he had on his face at all times. The one that sent shockwaves through Heim’s entire body. Heim panicked, going to pick up the rose he dropped before retracting his hand and looking back up at him.
Should he say something, should he run? No, this was his only opportunity. He couldn’t approach Maison again after this if he ran, he’d look like a fool! Well, he already looks like a fool. He clutched the meat to his chest and breathed in, deciding to just go for it.
“Uh, w-well hey Maison! Uh, fancy seeing you here,” Oh god already a bad start. Heim fumbled with the roses in his hand, feeling his cheeks heat up.
“I noticed you a lot and I…uh…thought you kinda cool so I-“
Heim tried to extend his hands to give Maison the gifts he had bought, but Maison simply put a hand on his shoulder and looked down at him. Heim tried, but couldn’t look him in the eyes. Both due to shame and his silly crush.
Maison took his other hand and reached into Heim’s breast pocket to take out one of his cards. Heim followed Maison’s hand to see he was reading his card, looking him straight in the eye afterwards and cocking an eyebrow upwards. It was the most expressive thing Heim had seen on the other man do and it made him panic. But…in a good way? It was hard to describe.
“So,” Maison spoke. That simple word seemed to paralyze Heim, also causing him to shrink into himself. “Heim. That’s the name of my seemingly biggest fan?”
Maison leaned into Heim’s space as a he spoke.
“I’ve wondered what another Realtor was doing in my territory. You don’t seem to be here to fight. Quite the opposite actually”
Heim panicked.
“Ah, no no. I ain’t here to fight! I was gonna ask you…on…a…date?”
Heim laughed a little at the end. He was desperately trying to mask his panic and embarrassment. If he was biologically capable of sweating, he’d be sweating a swimming pool amount of sweat. Gross imagery, but it’s true.
Maison looked at him before removing his hand from Heim’s shoulder and taking one of the black roses from his grip.
He looked at it. His expression was completely unreadable, but he eventually broke his gaze from the rose and back to Heim.
Maison extended his hand towards Heim’s face, and Heim closed his eyes and braced for impact. But it never came.
Instead, Maison tucked the rose behind Heim’s ear. When Heim opened his eyes again, there was seemingly a newfound warmth behind Maison’s white smile.
“I’m definitely interested in you, Mr.Baile. Perhaps a nice dinner would be a good opportunity for learning about each other”
“Oh- Sure! That would be great!”
“Hm, good. Is 8:30 tomorrow night a good time?”
Heim nodded held up a thumbs up.
“Good,” Maison put a hand on Heim’s shoulder again and started to walk as he spoke, “meet me at the restaurant on Maine street at that time. I’m dying to get to know you”
He smiled at Heim, turned, and walked away. Heim simply stood there watching him, frozen steak still pressed against his chest. Huh. That went surprisingly well!
Maybe the owner of the roses would like a steak as repayment?
No, Heim decided. He’ll save it for later date. He’s sure Maison would love it.

Random House Hunted 2 Headcanon: Everybody knows Heim is a REALTOR, but nobody really cares because he rarely, if ever, eats humans. Heim is also completely unaware that everybody knows he's a REALTOR. Due to this, anytime that he goes into public to do something (usually getting fast food, since he likes the local fast food places), everybody pretends that they believe he's human. He's generally seen as a nice guy to those who are willing to get to know him, despite the fact that he's a REALTOR. As a slight (positive) side effect of spending so much time with humans, he's become way more in touch with his emotions, such as love, happiness, sadness, etc. than most other REALTORS. Since humans, who actively think about emotions more than REALTORS, are willing to walk up and talk to him, that emotional thinking has rubbed off onto him. It's also a part of why he's "bad" at being a REALTOR, and stumbles over his words and acts nervous - he's more prone to realizing that he's feeling nervous, so he actively shows that he's nervous, while other REALTORS who get nervous wouldn't realize they are, so they wouldn't show it.
