Here's a little lesson in the Tumblr algorithm, for those who don't know: the only way for a post to be spread to someone's dash, after it's already been made, is through reblogs. Likes do very little for boosting visibility. Besides adding notes so a post has a higher likelihood of appearing at the top of search results for the tags they're featured in, likes are just caches to show/store posts you've liked. They do not significantly increase the likelihood that the post will be seen by more people. The only way to ensure this is to reblog it to your own blog, so your followers will see it.

Also, this isn't Twitter. I know that on Twitter, it's largely expected for most of your profile to consist of mostly your own tweets, and not too many retweets. Tumblr is extremely different, in that the entire site is made up of shared posts. The site is designed for maybe 5% of the content on your dash to be original content at any given moment, while 95% will be reblogs from others, and that's perfectly acceptable and expected, actually.

This is all to say that, I know a lot of you come from Tik Tok or Twitter, where liking content has a direct, positive effect on the content's visibility. I know that your FYP is dictated by what gets more likes/what the people you follow like, and that Twitter shows posts your following likes on the TL. But Tumblr is extremely different. So please, don't hesitate to reblog shit on this website, especially art/writing. If you liked an artist's work, the best thing you can do for them is reblog it because simply liking it will do very little to boost their post's visibility. This doesn't just apply to art either; if there's a PSA, theory, etc., that you enjoyed and want more people to see, the only way for that to happen is to reblog.

it’s anthony mackie o’clock, please bear with me. (long post).

(again, i mean no disrespect or hate towards any of the white actors and actresses in tfatws, including sebastian stan!!)

but i was reading through the interview that anthony mackie gave for variety magazine (2021) and there was one thing he said that, in light of recent comments and takes i have seen regarding the unequal consideration of sebastian stan and anthony mackie’s acting and characters in tfatws, really resonated with me.

this? this is awful. this quote shows that not only does anthony mackie know that he is viewed in this light by critics and fans of the white actors whose fame he watched from the sidelines, it shows that this is normal for him. 

anthony mackie is so used to being sidelined and looked over that it is normal for him to feel like that.

anthony mackie went to juilliard. juilliard. the legendary performing arts school. he worked his way through project after project, was forced to watch his white costars’ celebrity rise from the sidelines of many of them, but kept acting and taking projects that were important to him (ie. the banker, shelter, detroit, the hate u give). he is a very talented actor with excellent range, an actor who tries to understand every character he portrays and works to the peak of his ability to play them accurately.

and it is evident that in the mcu, in the case of sam wilson, he has done a fantastic job. 

he took mcu sam wilson from a potentially two-dimensional cap sidekick to having a personality highly suggestive of the fleshed out, opinionated, reckless hero that he is in the comics, and that portrayal likely would not have come through in ca:tws and beyond from a lesser actor. 

mackie has also mentioned in interviews that one of his greatest concerns is that of the success of tfatws, because he has felt that if the show flops greatly the marvel executives are going to see his casting as nothing more than a mistake. 

that is also heartbreaking. he has done nothing to deserve feeling like that, yet he is so used to being kept in the shadows that that is honestly how he feels about his first lead in a major franchise. 

so i hope i don’t see everyone talking solely about sebastian stan’s acting. and completely glossing over the fact that even from the trailers and clips, anthony mackie has had a magnanimous presence in the show and in the story.

because that is already, unfortunately, happening.

this goes back to what some people had mentioned on my previous post that i had noticed as well, where. it was sebastian stan’s tag trending after the big tfatws content day, while mackie’s was not.

that’s absurd. mackie is the other lead of this show, not even cast in a side role this time, and he is still being sidelined by fans in favour of yet another white man. and sebastian is an excellent actor in his own right, yes, but nothing warrants ignoring anthony mackie’s presence in the show, as he is the other lead.

as fans, we have the ability and therefore the responsibility to make this the show where mackie can have faith that he truly is a main character and the lead in what is going to be a very successful tv show, not just a prop for yet another white man. 

we have the power to do that.

and mackie damn well deserves it.

If anyone was curious on my thoughts for the upcoming Harry Potter tv series at HBO:

First and foremost, Wizarding World realized how amazing and lucrative the process of movies and shows is today. HBO has realized this as well. Star Wars and Marvel have a huge fan base and doing movies along with tv shows that tie into each other, is amazing. Marvel is in the process of having more than 10 tv shows along with a bunch of movies on their agenda. Star Wars has movies and a bunch of tv series in the works. HBO has already started doing this with the DCEU. They’re in the process of a static shock and Batgirl tv series. Wizarding World has the potential to be bigger than Marvel and Star Wars. Why do I think that? Because the Harry Potter movies ended almost 10 years ago yet it still has a huge fan base. Every store you walk in still sells a ton of Harry Potter merch. If they played their cards right, it’ll blow every other franchise out of the water.

Let’s be honest. Fantastic Beasts just isn’t as good as Harry Potter. That franchise is floundering for three reasons. One, no one asked for a story about Newt Scamander. There’s not enough there. We care about Harry himself. Second, Johnny Depp. Third, JK Rowling. No need to explain the last two.

If they want a successful franchise, they need to rectify their mistakes with the movies and books. This would be a great opportunity to do so. I will get into this later.

The smartest possible thing they could do is use Jude Law’s Dumbledore and have a Marauders Era series. But I don’t just want a Marauders era series. I want a fully fleshed series. I want in depth backgrounds on the Marauders and Lily. I want something that doesn’t disrupt canon. If they want an amazing series, they need to make Sirius gay or at least bi. They need to make one or two of the Marauders POC. I’m voting for desi James and Japanese-French Sirius. They need to make one of the Marauders Jewish. I vote Remus or James. Do not make Peter a minority. There’s zero reason to make a minority be the bad guy. Something that would work in canon is Wolfstar. Make Wolfstar canon BUT they break up after the whomping willow prank. Give me a storyline on Remus struggling with forgiveness and feeling betrayed. Then they get back together but the whomping willow incident makes Remus lose his full trust in Sirius. That makes Remus believing Sirius betrayed James seem more realistic.

Season 1 would follow their first year. At the end of season 1, as Sirius leaves the train, we get introduced the noble and most ancient house of Black. Before this, all we get is hints and sneak peeks at how horrid they are. Off comments and the way Sirius behaves. We follow him home and see how horrible they are. We get introduced the Black sisters. We get a first hand look at how horrible Bellatrix is. We use Bellatrix to introduce Voldemort then BOOM we get a Tom Riddle series.

Things I want from a Marauders series: More people of color and canon LGBTQ characters. Give us little sneak peeks at things that happen and lead into the golden trio era. POC James and Sirius. White Remus and Peter. Jewish Remus. Gay or bi Sirius and Remus. You know what? GIVE ME A MIXED LILY EVANS. I want a diverse cast with a diverse BTS crew. Writers, producers, etc of all colors, sexualities, and backgrounds. I want a POPPING soundtrack. I especially want a scene of Sirius Black dancing to ABBA.

Things I DONT want from a Marauders series: Snape victimization. Give us the real story. Show us how he wasn’t innoncent nor a victim. I don’t want a villain James and Sirius. I’ll accept a mean/bully James and Sirius with a good redemption arc. This may seem small but I do not want a brown haired Sirius. The werewolf from the POA. Please, change the design. I beg you.

I want the series to be dark academia. I want a chill in the air that foreshadows a war. I want tension yet light hearted moments. I want beautiful cinematography. I want a found family story about 4 boys who become close to each other. In fact, you can make Remus hate James and Sirius for the first season and we can see him warm up to them, love them, then trust them. Give me found family, give me enemies to lovers jily.

I’ll be honest. They probably won’t do as much diversity as we want. The characters have been established in the movies. They could change it up and still follow the storyline but people would protest and make petitions. Have you seen the way they crucified Disney for making Ariel black? Have you seen the way people go wild and boycott a movie or show when they change a white character to a person of color or make them LGBTQ? Who knows though!

Lastly, the ending. I want a tragic ending. You know how I want the series to end? I want Remus Lupin. I want Remus John Lupin to find James and Lily’s bodies. He just came back from spying and due to hearing reports of a prominent Order family dying, he sprinted to Godrics Hollow. He finds their bodies and finds Harry gone. He loses it. A slow violin instrumental starts. We see him sob, cry, scream, smash things, and freak out. The violin speeds up a little. He turns around and notices someone left the television on. And it’s on the news. He sees a reporter on the scene of a blown-up street. The reporter says that Peter was killed by Sirius Black. The new continues and Remus sees it. Sirius Black. Sirius Black betrayed James and Lily and killed Peter. He’s now on his way to Azkaban. If you thought Remus’ reaction was bad before, he loses it. He can’t handle it. The violin speeds up. We’re unnerved and terrified. He sprints out of the house and sprints through the woods. The violin is going extremely fast. He’s sobbing and screaming as he runs at full speed through the woods. We see shafts of moonlight light his horrified gave up. We get flashbacks of his best memories with his friends. He screams and falls into the middle of a clearing. The violin is faster than ever. And he looks up. The full moon paints his tear-stained face. His eyes widen and the transformation begins. He has his first transformation without his friends. Because they’re all dead or gone. The show ends with his screams turning into howls.

TWO SIDES OF THE SAME COIN

WOW OKAY so jason died in the first book of hoo and leo died in the last book of hoo, and they were the core part of the prophecy, and jasons birthday is july 1st but leos is july 7th, and jasons the first pov of hoo, while leos the last pov. jasons always had to deal with being the leader, you know, being #1 while leos always felt like the outcast and the 7th wheel, and hera was heavily invested in their lives since the moment they were born more so than any of the other seven. jasons dad is this powerful womanizer while leos dad was this guy everyone overlooked and was bad with people, and then jasons mom was complete shit but leos mom was amazing. jason was always in the spotlight and leo was in the shadows, and while jason started off serious he began to relax in the series while leo started off funny but grew obnoxious and dark, very tense. neither of them felt like they really belonged (jason being the child of 2 camps, and leo being leo), and jason was always told he was great and never believed it while leo always felt like wasn't worth anything but saved the world, and they both sacrificed themselves-
