âYou're afraid, aren't you? Youâre afraid sheâll appear to one of them and tell them the truth about you.â
âShe wouldnât do that.â
âWouldnât she?â
(image text under the cut)
âWillie, youâre a coward. You always will be.â
âYouâre scared too.â
âNot of death.â
âYouâre scared of HER.â

Loved the part when Willie unlocked the GoodEndingTM and moved in with the Evans clan and everyone lived happily ever after.

âA good heart and a clear conscience are the only jewels worth having.âÂ
âYeah, uh, but what if you donât have them? The good heart anâ all that?âÂ
âThen youâd do well to get them.â
A redemption story.
(image text under cut)
âDo you really think you can stop him?â
âI don't know. But I can try. I can try.â
 Â
âYou can let me escape!â
âYou know I can't. He'd come after me, he'd kill me--or worse.â
âYou can escape with me! Willie... Willie don't let me die.â
 Â
âHe's going to kill Maggie Evans tonight. [...] And all I can do is stand by and watch as long as I live. I'll live with death, people dyin' --and worse. I can't let it go on--I gotta do something!â

â...Iâm sorry.â
âOh sure, youâre âSorryâ. Thatâs a new word you learned only recently. Iâd like to know where you learned to say it.â
Dark Shadows was really clever to juxtapose metaphorical and literal vampire arcs, and it set Willie up for one of the most devastating redemption arcs Iâve ever seen.Â
(image text transcribed under the cut)
You already believed in vampires,
the strong and the clever whose natural right it was
to snare the weak and bleed them dry.
You didn't notice the tremors as you crossed the outer threads of the web (don't touch me)
to learn too late who, in the end, was the spider, and who the fly. (don't touch me)
You're part of this story too, now.
        (I s--I said I'm sorry...
          I said I was sorry...)

âJason, you're my friend. Help me.â
âListen to me Jason, we're still friends--â
âWERE friends, Willie! Past tense!â
âAre you squeamish about death?â
âHe was my friend!â
âYour friend? You told me he tried to kill you.â
âBut a long time ago before we came here, we were friends. Good friends.â
âYou really are appallingly sentimental.â

In ep 264 Barnabas and Willie believe Maggie to be dead, and only the vampireâs literal slave holds himself accountable. Go figure.
(Watch out, Barnabas, doesnât sound like Willie is about to stand back and let you kill Maggie twice.)

Iâve discovered that the 1966 Dark Shadows soap (specifically Willie Loomis)Â makes a good subject for oil subtraction paintings.

Behold: Cass, Jason, and a reference to a quote from Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
(Explanation: Cassâs book references the quote âI incline to Cainâs heresy. I let my brother go to the devil in his own way,â but since sheâs the personification of âthat sign wonât stop me because I canât read!â I donât think the book made much of an impression.)

I had a lot of people asking for this, so I finally set up a Redbubble, and if anyone wants a print, sticker, etc of this painting, they can find it here:Â
And thank you to everyone for all your kind words in the tags! That was a really unexpected surprise. :)

I will be rocks I will be water
I will leave this to my daughter
Lift your head up in the wind
When you feel yourself grow colder
wrap the night around your shoulders
and I will be with you even then
even when I cannot see your face anymore (x)
Cass grieved Bruce, too.
